Consistently good food but consistently long wait times (from time of order to table). Food is not good enough (in comparison to other Thai restaurants in the area) to justify these wait times - especially when others receive their food sooner/it doesn't seem to depend on what is ordered.

Solid panang curry and green curry! Great meal at a reasonable price for sure. 3 out of 4 spice was HOT!! The place is a hole in the wall that doesn't hold more than 25 people or so, but it's well maintained and the food was worth going back for. This was our second trip, and everyone has really enjoyed everything they've ordered.

Shh! Don't tell anyone, but I cheated on my go-to Thai with his twin brother in Rockville. But just for his mango sticky rice, which was really really good. Gburg's Thai House remains my go-to Thai (he's more convenient, his mangos are bigger, his seating layout is more open, and he knows what I want before I order). The menu is the same and the decor is similar though, so the Rockville location is definitely worth a mango sticky rice quickie or coconut-ice-cream-on-sticky-rice run when the mangos are out of season.

Wow, I don't know how this place has almost 5 stars... I've been to both location & this one is no 4 in a half star place. Thai food signature dish is pad Thai & you can tell a lot by a place by judging their signature dish. This one was way too sweet! It needed some more crushed peanuts & maybe some lime wedges to balance out the sweetness. Another popular dish in Thailand is green curry, ours came out white & very watery. I asked are you sure this is green curry & the waitress said yes that they added coconut milk b/c we asked for medium. It is nice that this place ask what spice level you want in a dish from mild, medium, to hot. But medium you expect a little heat not mild which is what we got. Now this it's the best thai restaurant I've been to but it's isn't the worse either. I just can't believe some of the reviews saying this is very good, maybe their other location in Gaithersburg. So if you are really looking for a good Thai restaurant try their Gaithersburg location much better.

This is the best thai food in rockville. Very high quality and fresh food that taste authentic. Kee Mao, basil fried rice, pineapple fried rice, and penang curry are all off the chain.

Reviews here are probably paid for. There is no way that this restaurant deserves its current rating. I go to the deli and greek place in this shopping center all the time. Never see anybody in there, yet it has tons of shining reviews. Decided to give it a try. Two other tables on a Sunday afternoon. Ordered pad thai, panang curry, kugai. All 3 dishes were incredibly sweet. And I don't mean awesome sweet. Nauseatingly sweet. Grab some ice cream from your freezer and coat it with sugar and chocolate syrup, then do it again. That's about half as sweet these dishes tasted, and I'm only exaggerating a tiny bit. All 3 were left unfinished. We didn't even want to take it back home. This place was so terrible, I'd really surprised if these reviews weren't all faked. Look at all the reviews where people have actually checked in. Also, no AMEX.

I feel like I've struck gold! I have been unsuccessful in finding decent Thai food since I lived in Highland Park, NJ (laugh not; that place is REAL). Thai House (the Rockville location) is the real deal too. Properly spicy, fresh ingredients, and full of flavor. I've only tried their veggie spring rolls, curried pineapple fried rice and pad Thai, but all were excellent. I foresee many yummy Thai dinners in my future!

I love their shrimp kee Mao!! Mango sticky rice is always good here too! Portions are good sized as well. Will be coming here for a while! Best Thai place in the area!

What makes this place a 5 star is simple. Thai food is all about balance. And the majority of places in the DC area don't ever find balance. That's just not the case here. The chef at Thai House has mastered balance. It's not to be missed. First I love this place because they use a 1-10 rating system for spiciness. And they have all 10. Second, the value is great. You effectively pay the same as any Thai place but the portions, and I don't think I'm exaggerating are double most places. The service was spot on for a family place. CLearly they weren't professional waiters but service was attentive, consistent, and comfortable. The food was paced properly, and it was always hot. And now to the best part. The Food. It was great. I've been to Thailand a few times and this is about as close as I have gotten in the DC area to that experience. Apps: Golden Triangles - Maybe the only item that was take it or leave it. Papaya Salad - We got it very spicy and it was very good. The best I have had in the are hands down. Not to be missed if you are a fan. Num Tok - In hindsight I wish we had ordered it spicier then a 5 but live and learn. It was tender, flavorful, and not overbearing in any one area. Spring Rolls - I was expecting nothing special here but I was wrong. When they are served freshly fried using fresh ingredients, everything just pops. Soup: I should mention I am a soup fan and basically lived on soup while in Thailand. And though nothing compares to those soups, and here the Typhoon soup wasn't even close, it was still very tasty. Kuagai - I feel like I keep repeating myself and I am but it was just great. The chicken was tender, the noodles were fresh, the spices were baanced. Panang Curry - Maybe the only main dish that wasn't what I expected. In my opinion it was too peanuty. Still good flavor but slightly over-powered by the peanuts Spicy Eggplant - It was eggplant and it was spicy. Can't argue with truth in advertising. My only bash, and I am looking for issues quite frankly, the eggplant could have used a bit more cooking time. I should reiterate. Order half the number of dishes you normally do. The portions are big!

On the spur of the moment, I decided to meet a friend for Sunday dinner. Arrived at about 6:15pm. The place was virtually empty. We ordered Spring Rolls, Penang Curry (with chicken-medium spicy) and Pad Se Aw (with chicken). The Spring Rolls were just okay. But the Penang Curry and Pad Se Aw were both absolutely delicious. In fact, we asked for 2 extra bowls of rice to make sure we didn't miss a drop of the Penang Curry sauce. We both noticed how quickly the restaurant filled up which is a sign that many people like this little gem of this tiny restaurant.

As authentic as it gets. Unassuming in a small strip center but he place is perfectly immaculate. The food is absolutely outstanding. I had the green curry shrimp for lunch and I could not have been more pleased.

Best hole-in-the-wall Thai in Rockville! Food is consistently flavorful, delicious, and NOT americanized. The owner is friendly and you can the tell by his attitude, he really cares about the customers and quality of food. Who cares about the extra wait time for the food. It takes time to prepare authentic food. If you can't handle the wait time and balance of authentic Thai spices and taste, go to Thai Pavilion or some other place catered for the average palate.

Would never go here again. Came for Father's Day lunch, left with diabetes. Food: Ordered the Papaya Salad, Shrimp Pad Thai, and Seafood Panang Curry. The salad was too sour but decent in small doses. The pad Thai and curry were so unbearably sweet I might as well have eaten table sugar. I tried diluting the curry with white rice but it was still way way too sweet. At $10-20 a dish, the food was definitely a rip off. Surprised how no other reviews have mentioned anything bad about the food. Maybe I came on a bad day but I definitely wouldn't risk trying this place out again. Environment: Tables and dishes were clean and the restaurant appeared to be well-maintained. Waiter was courteous and attentive.

Having gotten bored of all my regular dinner restaurants, I stumbled upon Thai House one fine night while driving through Rockville. The food was amazing! Being a big fan of Thai food and having tried a number of Thai restaurants, I can confidently say this place ranks among the best. The place was clean, service was good and food was great! Only thing to note is that i found "mild spicy" to be very spicy and had to keep gobbling a lot of water. Do try the "panang curry" (red curry) and the "kee mao" noodle.

I have been to Thailand 5 times...so I'm very picky w Thai. I love this place and lucky for me they deliver!!!!

Very nice meal last night. My wife had Ginger Perfect with shrimp and I had Goong Phuket "spicy" (you have an option on spice level). This is the first time we've been since the ownership change (last October?), but will definitely be back. My wife thought her dish was a little salty, but other than that no complaints. Service was fast and friendly. (and no, Phillip H, this is not a paid review)

My wife and I enjoyed our meal at Thai House. We had the "Deep Sea" mixed seafood curry and Panang Curry. We went with medium spicy which was just right for me and a bit too spicy for my wife. We will be back.

I have limited exposure to their menu having eaten there just once. The duck spring rolls are dy-no-mite!!! The pad see ew is pretty good as well as the panang curry. The tom ka goong is also really good, on par with duck rolls. They deliver, are really nice and are open on Mondays! Definitely worth a try.

By far the best Thai food around. Have eaten there and had take out a half dozen times and all of it has been amazing!

A HIDDEN GEM! You would have never found this restaurant if you weren't referred to it by a friend or enter the address into your GPS. It's in a small strip shopping center not on the main road and the shop is hidden all the way at the end next to the nail place. If you do go, your excellent navigation skills will be rewarded with what I will call the best Thai food in the area! Prices: In the -higher mid range. More expensive than your average Chinese restaurant. Average main dish here is $12.95 - $14.95. Appetizers: $7.95 - $10.95 Noodle & Rice dishes: $10.95 - $14.95 I had the KEE MAO Wide egg noodles topped with egg, chicken & shrimp in a spicy basil (brown) sauce. OMG-fantastic! just the right amount of sweet/spicy chocked full of meat and the huge, wide handmade noodles are amazing. The YUM WON SEN is a cold appetizer (looks similar to an egg-roll)- thin, soft white rice paper wrapper rolled-up with shrimp, lettuce and cellophane noodles inside served with a peanut/lime sauce. You'll really enjoy that too. My friends tell me that their sister restaurant located on Muncaster Mill Road in Gaithersburg, MD is also great. I highly recommend you try this place. As a last note, do check the hours & payment options: They're closed in the middle of the day and do not accept credit cards less than $15.

Editing my previous post. Ordered a pad Thai and pad see ew to go today and lost my appetite while eating. The chef must have changed because the flavor, texture, and ingredients were totally different compared to their usual. Will only be ordering from the other Thai house location from now on.

This is the newest baby of Thai House, located in a small shopping center at the corner of Norbeck & Georgia. To date, it has been as good as their first restauant on Muncaster Mill Rd, which I totally enjoy. Since we had frequented the original, we were thrilled when they opened this branch near us. They took over from another Thai restaurant that had not been successful, and I nknow that as word spreads, this newest branch will be wildly successful. Only thing I want to talk about is the food, which is wonderful. To date, the food has been every bit as good as the original place. We think they have the best Pad Thai (#34) we have ever tasted. To find out lots more about the food at this place, look on Yelp at the original one and read the many reviews. Heat alert: Watch out for the chiles! I found if I ordered one chile with my favs, I could handle the heat. Any more than that, and I can't handle it. I know: what a sissy. Trust me on this, it can set your innards on fire if you order it too spicy. Last couple times we ordered #'s 31, 32 and 40, all with one chile. Perfection!!! We cleared our plates, more than once, and we all agreed it was not too spicy. For those who don't like any heat, Pad Thai is just the dish to order. Free delivery is up to 3 miles (don't forget to tip), and this includes Leisure World.

I've been a regular at the Thai House in Gaithersburg, so I was pleasantly surprised to know that they had opened up another shop in Rockville, and couldn't wait to try it out. The verdict: yes, it's as good as the one in Gaithersburg, in terms of the food. The ambiance remains that of a tiny yet decent place. We managed to hop in kind of late, but they agreed to serve us, and the food came out in minutes. The server was kind and understanding, and did stop by several times to ask if we're doing okay, and if we needed anything else. Overall, this restaurant manages to dish up the most scrumptious thai food in the area, and that too without burning a hole in your pocket.

Some other dishes weren't quite as good. As fun as Beef Kapow sounds for someone who watched Adam West Batman reruns as a kid, it's underwhelming. I was expecting more fireworks, I guess. Definitely a very good option nonetheless.

Amazingly good Thai food for this part of the country (Pacific North-West is my baseline for good Thai food). I've only had the spicy crispy chicken and green curry so far, but both are amazing and I crave them far too often. My only gripe: If I am craving pick-up on the way home from work... I am out of luck. They are closed from 2:30 till 4:30 pm. Update: My menu favorite is now their Panang Curry with Chicken.

We saw this place and decided to stop by on 4th of July. The decor was nice. There was a lady getting take-out, but otherwise the dining room was empty. However, the waitress was a little frantic - she did not get to us until the take-out customer left. Seems like she was doing double duty. Midway through our meal another party of 2 came. Food we ordered: - Papaya salad: good balance of flavor. It is supposed to be sour and spicy (we got "little spicy"), and eaten in small quantities. We shared it, and it was sufficient. Only one single shrimp, though. - pad thai vegetarian: the taste was slightly sweeter than what we are used to, but was pretty good. The noodle was thinner than I expected, so that also changed the experience. I think the noodle was slightly undercooked. I would not get it again. - kee mao: wide noodle with egg, chicken and squid. This was by far the best noodle dish I've ever had. I got it "little spicy" and it was just right for me. The flavors were rich, like a party in my mouth! I'm glad I requested squid instead of shrimp. Husband kept asking for more, especially since his pad thai was not all that great. After reading the other yelp reviews, I am glad we didn't get the curry. But I would come back here again for the Kee Mao. And "little spicy" is spicy enough for me!

My husband and I frequently enjoy their takeout on Friday evenings. The quality of the food is consistently very good, and they are good at accommodating requests. If you ask for the food to be "very spicy", it will be. :-)
