Usually five star - but closed on 9/16/15 with a handwritten sign. Anybody know what's happening here?

The staff is not very friendly but unfortunately is the closest to my workplace. They take way too long to make a hot chocolate and many times you have to remind the barista what you ordered since they forgot to make it :/

Location location location. This concept is the only explanation why this Starbucks remains open. Always a line - totally inefficient, mistake ridden group of employees. If I was Starbucks, I would flag the managers and replace ASAP.

This Starbucks location is a complete disaster. I agree with my fellow yelper's on this one, fire the manager! Probably the worst Starbucks i have been to in the country!

Stopped by this location of Starbucks after visiting some folks in the neighborhood. It was quite busy on a warm Saturday afternoon. That should, however, not be a reason to not stock up on milk and sugar at the condiment stand. Running out of sugar in the raw is like no one bothered to re-stock this stand in quite sometime! So I had to ask for some sugar and milk and one of the barista hands me over a few packs of the sugar from behind the counter! Would definitely be rated real low except that my cappuccino was made well.

Seriously one of the worst Starbucks ever!!! I've only been to the one twice and both times they got my drink wrong, size wrong, everything wrong and it takes atleast 15 mins to even get your drink. They employees don't even care that you're not happy, and they are rude about having to make your drink again! Such a horrible place. Beware your coffee will take 10-20 mins and will most likely be wrong! If I could put less than one star I would! Horrible

This location is typically understaffed and unorganized. On several occasions there are several employees in the back of the house and only 2 serving customers. If you're looking for a quick cup of coffee, this is not your place.

Probably the worst starbucks you can go to. all the employee are clueless on what they have to do, one of them constantly sings random none sense, your drink will take 15-20minutes to make and it will most likely taste horrible and be completely off what you ordered. down right worst starbucks

I"m adding a star because they have installed a hand bicycle pump outside! I'm glad they are catering to the clientele

After leaving the Yelp excursion to the Wing Hub and Cafe Gelato - I headed towards home. Unfortunately, traffic was jammed on the Beltway going across the American Legion Bridge, so I continued on River Road thinking I'd find some place where I could get some coffee or espresso and re-evaluate my route home options. I ended up in Potomac, MD - a burg I've never visited and found a Starbucks. Espresso! Salvation, right? Eh! Meh! Bleah! While I was waiting in line - there was this very old man standing in line behind me - with a large white card encased in clear plastic clipped to his shirt collar - that stated something like: "The Palestinians are the legitimate owners of Israel" or words to that effect. I'm thinking to myself: "Who the hell walks around with a statement like that pinned to their shirt?" Much to my chagrin - another guy in line just could not help himself and asked the old guy about it - and thus a conversation that began with the old guy holding forth about the entire history of the middle east region. Makes me wonder if he does it just so he can have someone to talk to. It was painful - I could not get to the register fast enough, place my order, and get the hell out of there. Oh, and the two star rating I am giving this Starbucks has nothing to do with my encounter with the geriatric local historian... So I place my order for a triple espresso machiatto. The guy makes it fairly quickly. Now a triple espresso machiatto has ALWAYS fit inside one of those extra small cups - with the foam and a lid on it. The Barista hands me a double cupped drink - with a huge head of foam on it - so high that I had to eat the foam off the top for fear of making a mess. As I got outside, I started drinking it - I'm not sure what the hell beverage I had - there was way more espresso in the cup than there should have been - it was almost like he poured coffee in it and then topped it with a huge amount of foam. And it just wasn't that great. I took a couple of gulps and poured out the rest of the drink in the parking lot.

This Starbucks wouldn't be bad except the attitude of some of the staff. A couple of the people are great but a couple of them - one lady in particular - is just so unpleasant. The look just says "I don't care". And this is every visit. I don't know how the owner of this location allows that. I often stop by this store out of convenience but try to visit another location when I can. Starbucks - pay attention to your customer service!

WORST STARBUCKS LOCATION!! I hate this place. Drinks are always horrible. I keep going back but today was the last time. NO MORE CHANCES! My drink tasted like water. Straight up water, I couldn't believe it. How can they manage to ruin any drink I order? Its incredible. If you want good Strabucks, hit up the Rockville location on 355 in Montrose Crossing next to Barnes and Noble. Now THATS the best starbucks I've ever been to.

This store has improved AMAZINGLY over the last year. It really was the pits of Starbucks, but that was then, and it is no longer true. The staff are polite and generally get the orders correctly, the drinks are made uniformly and they are much, much faster. They're still slower than a lot of Starbucks, but they are much faster than a year ago where it would take 7 minutes to get a Mocha Latte when the store was almost empty. There are actually 3 employees who are great, the others are fine. (I'm bad at names, but the great ones are Abby, the tallll white guy with the dreadlocks and the Afr.-American afternoon manager whose mother lives in Potomac. They are all bright, attentive, and personable.) I know this sounds like very faint praise, but they deserve to have their progress noted and appreciated.

Terribly slow service and poorly trained Baristas. It would be a shame to even call this a Starbucks.

We stopped here the other day for a quick coffee after a great walk along the C&O Canal near Swains Lock. It was incredibly crowded and the staff seemed to move listlessly from drink to drink. Even with three people behind the counter the wait for each drink was about 5-10 minutes. At one point, they completely skipped one persons order and didn't realize it until the person finally got someone's attention 30 minutes after they placed their order. Additionally, once you exit the line with your drink you have to squeeze your way back to the front of the shop to use the milk and sugar rather than using the backdoor that leads onto a much wider and less crowded courtyard. And don't get me started on the condition of the bathroom.

Wow. Line out the door on a Saturday morning. Surly customers and employees. Charged me for an extra drink- then demanded that I ordered it- when i hadn't, but I decided that somebody would drink it anyway- then they didn't even make it! (I initially only ordered two fraps, not a complicated order!) The whole thing took over 20 minutes. You would think Potomac would have better service.

I always feel like a junkie crawling to the rude dealer on the corner for my daily fix when I go here. I really, really don't like it, but when I absolutely need my Starbucks fix when I'm visiting my in-laws in Potomac, there's really nowhere else to go. To be honest, other than the fact that they serve Starbucks products and that the beverages tend to be stronger than usual (probably because they don't know how to make the drinks properly), I can't think of anything nice to say about this place at all. The staff at this place could write a book on how to provide horrible customer service. I have never met anyone at this place who even tries to pretend that they want to work here. I have had baristas botch my order, act disgusted when I asked if they included the additional shots of espresso for which I paid extra, totally forget to communicate my order to the person making drinks, and basically ignore me and what I needed while they talked to an attractive woman standing next to me. Worse yet, this place attracts a lot of rich folks who are able to sit and enjoy their entire beverage in the store itself--this isn't a bad thing in and of itself, but it results in a lack of seating during high-traffic days in Potomac Village. Of course, since most of the clientele is a bit snobby, asking people if they need the empty chairs at their table requires the diplomatic skills of Henry Kissinger. Also, the seating is laid out in a manner that ensures that you will be cold no matter where you sit in the store if it is cold outside--it's as if they did not even try to ensure that their customers would be comfortable. Out of all of the Starbucks that I have ever visited in my entire life, this is one of the five worst--maybe one of the three worst?

Let me preface this by saying I'm not a coffee drinker and infrequent patron of Starbucks. I volunteered to drive to this Starbucks to pick up coffee to brew at my work retreat at Rockwood Manor (10 minutes away). I had no idea what I was getting into. I do use Starbucks as an excuse to drink chocolately, sugary coffee drinks such as the Caramel Macchiato which did not taste right at all at this location (that's where the two stars come in). I had no idea what I was doing with the coffee. There were 1-lb bags of coffee everywhere and they all had sorts of names like Ipanema, Colombia Marina, Sumatra, House Blend, Sulawesi. There was mild, bold, medium. I just wanted coffee that was....regular! I grabbed the Breakfast Blend medium because it's the closest thing that sounded like normal coffee. I get up to the register to pay and the conversation goes like this.. Barista: Do you want these ground up? Me: Huh? Aren't they already? Barista [shakes her head] Me: Okay then grind them, thanks Barista: Is this for paper? Me: What do you mean? Barista: Are you using paper, metal, for the brewing? Me: Uh, paper I guess Barista: Flat or cone? Me: Excuse me? Barista: Filter...flat or cone? Me: Ummmm.....flat, I think Who knew there were so many considerations just to pick up some freakin coffee beans! Starbucks, I loathe you.
