good pizza, good salads good service, great place to take the kids. (they have milk too!) and prices are reasonable. Haven't had anything else on the menu....so only 4 stars for now. There are only two places I go for pizza, and pasta mista is the other one, but on the balance, MLDF is a bit better.

Mama has been our regular pizza and pasta spot for years. The pizza is fresh and has slight pleasantly surprising nuanced differences from time to time, sometime more hints of basil and others with a bit of heat. The staff is fantastic and the environment is very welcoming for families. In the summer, the front porch has live music which draws a solid crowd. Highly recommended.

My parents joined us and we were all pretty happy with the food. You order at the counter and then listen for your number over the P.A. system. The back room has a big screen TV and there's a nice sized deck with tables outside (but you're just overlooking a shopping center parking lot). Pizza by the slice and calzones are sitting at the counter. This always worries me a bit. These things have dairy in them and it's not clear how long they've been sitting out. Nevertheless, the cheese pizza looked newish and I went for it. The huge slice had good tasting cheese although the sauce was not distinctive. The house salad had surprising variety with red pepper strips and mushrooms (neither of which I like, but I applaud their effort). The fries were hot and plentiful. The kids mac & cheese was better than Kraft, served with a white Alfredo sauce. My wife thought the spinach calzone was pretty good, but another in our party loved their stromboli. Overall, a good place with a lot of variety on the menu.

I am looking for a "Moonstruck" ("The Grand Ticino", now you know what my favorite movie is)) type of an Italian restaurant. Nice, red checkered tablecloth, not too fussy, affordable, homey type of food. Read all the exited reviews about "Mamma Lucia" and went there. it is more like a cafeteria, than a restaurant. Sit yourself. Order. Not a big selection of drinks. Order comes, pick it up ala Panera Bread style (#21...next...). Place it at your table, go get your napkins and utensils, help yourself. Done? Clean after yourself. Buy. Have a nice day. It was a tad odd. Maybe it is a good carry-out? But pizza was...meh. Well, if you want an Italian style Panera Bread or baja Fresh, this is the place. If you want "The Grand Ticino", keep looking.

So very delicious. Definitely a local favourite. The food is a bit butter heavy, and sometimes you can see oil floating on the white pasta sauce, but most of the time, I've had some great experiences. Really big portions--I wish they had half pastas. Their cannoli is absolutely so very magical.

I walked in and was struck by 2 facts. First, the bar on the left hand side, and the horse racing on the TV screens. Second, that the eating area was cramped, and self serve. The prices for italian entrees is high. I ordered a meat lasagna and drink, and with tip it came to 16 dollars. I got a plate of lettuce with some lackluster blue cheese dressing, an olive, a rind of green pepper and some onions and 2 cherry tomatoes. Then maybe 2 minutes later my lasagna was ready. It was a gooey, cheesy mess with some foul tasting beef on top of what seemed to be 2 layers of lasagna noodles. It was awful. The plate was small...you get at least a third more at Sbarro. Furthermore, by the time I got home after half eating it, I had an upset stomach and ended up in the bathroom. Never again.

I love Mamma Lucia's pizza, the cheese is wonderful and the thin crust is a homemade work of art! I have also tried other Italian dishes and have never been disappointed. I'm a picky eater who does not eat fast food or chain restaurant food. Mamma Lucia is where I go when I don't feel like cooking or don't have time.

Fausto, Theresa; and the gang have a great thing going! Great Italian food, exceptional customer service, and they ALWAYS have make you feel like you are the most important person there. I've had most everything on the menu (not my doctor's idea!), but i just can't stay away. From the pizza, to salads, to subs, to wraps - its all good. And don't forget the old bay fries. Next up on the must try list are the wings. Keep it up Fausto and the gang! kudos to a job well done!

Went here based on the reviews of subs and we were craving chicken cheese steaks. They were bland and chunks of chicken rather than shredded. 0 flavor. Barely any cheese on either sandwich. Mozzarella sticks were great, leading me to believe we should've stuck with their Italian fare. Greek salad was okay.

My son and I go here weekly for the Cheesesteak, which is amazing! Teresa is awesome, and my son looks forward to seeing her on our visits. Unfortunately, I can't rate anything else because we are addicted to the cheesesteak. Fries are great too. See you Tuesday ;-)

Best pizza around. Their Greek salad with grilled chicken is delicious. I would say the rest of the food is good, but I get either the pizza or the salad everytime I go!

This place is great! Everything my wife and I have ordered here has been delicious! Their calzones and Italian sub is my favorite. The service is fast and friendly and it is a great place to grab a quick bite.

My review is based upon the pizza, because most of the poor reviews are because of other items, I don't want to be the reason you have a crappy dinner. I love the pizza here! I don't like thick doughy crust, I prefer to have thin crust, cheese and grease everywhere. Mama Lucia delivers that. The bar is on the left when first entering, you order at counter and take a seat in the nondescript dining area. Onion rings are also big and crunchy and their garden salad is stopped with tasty tidbits.

Best cheese steak sub I've had. Pizza pretty good too. Not your cheese whiz style sandwich. Melted provolone covered beef goodness. Hidden right next to the Home Depot. I'd get there if I were you.

Based on the the reviews, hubby and I decided to give this restaurant a try. The food was absolutely awful. I would not go back. I tried the gnocchi. It was the worst gnocchi I have ever had and I have eaten gnocchi in many restaurants. Specifically, the gnocchi were rock hard which they should not have been and the flavor was bland. Hubby had the chicken with lemon butter and like my gnocchi, he found his dish to be flavorless. Portions were generous and given the portions, the prices were fair. The counter staff was pleasant. In hindsight, we probably should have tried the pizza since that seems to garner good reviews but the food we had was so bad, we are not planning to go back to give the pizza a try.

This place seriously has the best gluten free subs I've ever had! The bread is so incredibly good, it's better than regular sub rolls! They also offer gluten free pizza and pastas. I haven't tried them yet, but i know there regular pizza and pastas are amazing with great sauces. I've gone back for a sub 3 days in a row... that should say enough!

I have been going here for years. They have the best quality authentic Italian food in the area. Their marinara sauce is the best I have had. You can buy pizza by the slice! The pasta dishes are always freshly made. They also have exceptionally good salads; their vinaigrette is so flavorful. All portions are very generous! Try this place!!!

Hidden gem with great pizza by the slice. Be aware though that the slices are massive (not like thats a bad thing!)

The best pizza I have ever eaten . They have other stuff like spaghetti and chicken, eggplant blah nlah blah, but let's be honest it's a pizza place and that's what I get. Let me tell you, they have the best cheese and toppings and crust!! If you are ever going to open a pizza place, please model after these guys! They know how to do it like no one else.

This is THEE place to go for Italian food, pasta and pizza. The portions are massive, the quality is top tier, and the prices are comparable to any chain Italian restaurant and pizza joint. They will even make up for you special request items not on the menu. Any foodie owes it to him/herself to go hear and eat.

I came across this Italian joint during my stay in town. The food is very good and wonderfully authentic. The atmosphere is very casual in fact you order at a counter and serve yourself. They have outside dining and TV's available to keep up with news or sports. I LOVE Italian food and this place didn't disappoint.

This place is delish, and you can get just about anything you want! I do remember it used to have more pizza by the slice. When I went in tonight, the counter was pretty bare and they had some calzones and only a few pizza by the slice. Maybe they would make it for you if you asked, but I didn't ask. I have enjoyed many a meal at Mamma Lucia and it is consistently good. The salads are amazing. The house oil and vinegar dressing is really good. Tonight I had eggplant parmigiana and it was yummy. The eggplant was sliced very thin and not very greasy at all. I like this place!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
