I don't think it really lived up to all the hype from my wife and others. There was a lot of grease involved, and I left feeling worse then when I arrived, albeit quite full. The peanuts were a nice touch and helped keep my mind off the burgers. The fries just weren't all that. I kept waiting to be wowed, but wow never happened. Would I eat there again? Sure, but I won't be having any cravings for Five Guys.

Came on a Monday night and it wasn't busy at all. The workers here seem really hardworking because even though no customers were there, they continued to clean. I was really impressed how clean the kitchen area was where they were cooking and assembling food. Just ordered a bacon cheeseburger to go and loaded up on free peanuts. Like all five guys, there's a ton of free toppings to choose from. Expect to spend less than $6-10 per person depending on how big you want your burger.

I don't think it really matters which Five Guys you go to since they are all the same. But what you are getting is one of the best burgers around anywhere. These aren't the kind of things you want to eat all of the time, mind you. It wouldn't take you long to have a heart attack doing that. But if you want to splurge and have a nice thick, greasy hamburger that tastes amazing, this is THE place for you. The standard hamburger and cheeseburger comes with two patties of freshly cooked ground beef. They also have smaller hamburgers which are one patty, but why bother? They also sell hotdogs too, but I've never tried one of those because the burgers are so delicious. Additionally, if you order the fries with your meal you're going to get a paper lunch bag size full of french fries. It's really an order for two. When ordering your burger, they have a list of condiments and add-ons you can put on your burger at no charge. They also have premium ones that you can also add as well for an additional charge. The bottom line is if you're craving an incredibly tasty burger, this is the place to go. It can get messy, but it is delicious.

Cant go wrong with a Five Guys burger and Fries. Have nothing bad to say about this place.

Not sure why everyone flips their s*** when talking about Five Guys. I just don't get it. The burgers are average, at best, mostly way too greasy. They have fries with vinegar. Big deal. All the locations are the same, so I know my experience is not just due to a poorly run franchise. While I don't recommend McDonald's or Wendy's, Five Guys doesn't really do much more for me than either of those chains.

Typical five guys. Good burgers and great hog dogs! Love the all you can eat peanuts. Been there many times so I learned the French fry lesson well. They give you an absolutely obnoxious amount of fries with your order of even a little fry. There are 3 of us and the little fry is plenty to go around. Made the mistake of getting the big one once and they practically had to roll me out of there ( I couldn't let perfectly good fries go to waste). Wish they would keep up with the drink station more as the ice tea was out the last time I was there but I do keep going back. Good location in the middle of the kentlands although sometimes parking is difficult. Will continue to go here for my american fast food fixes!

Who am I kidding...for what it is Five Guys is Five Stars! Had the fries this week...they're pretty damn good too!

What can you say about Five Guys? I was killing some time in Gaithersburg waiting to take a continuing education class at the local title company and thought I'd get some lunch. I had been to another Five Guys and remembered really liking it. This one has friendly staff and a good burger. Although, I have to say it wasn't the way I remember it from my previous Five Guys experience. They prepared it exactly the way I asked with the exact toppings I asked for. Flawless. Truth is....I like Fudrucker's a little better.

It's all about In-N-Out baby!! I will give Five Guy's a pat on a shoulder, but NICE TRY! There are quite a few things that made them not be Daniel. First off to beat the goliath, you must have freaking SHAKES!!! What the hell!! Ladies and Gentlemen, it's looks like Five Guy's showed up to the war without armor. Big mistake, big mistake. Next stumble, they put all over their walls how awesome they're. Please, if you're da bomb, you don't need to tell people you're because people just know you're, DUH. The next stumble is their fries. I know they use peanut oil, just like In-N-Out, but I don't know it still doesn't taste that great. I can taste more potatoes in In-N-Out fries, sounds funny, but true! I will give them credit for letting you add a crap load of toppings, but that's about it. Hey, at least they're better than Culver's! :P

Okay so I love boardwalk fries who doesn't, Especially Thrashers in OC, MD! Five Guys fries are to die for. I love putting on the vinegar on the fries which I think everybody does. The burgers are also delicious! But I am a very plain person so not very much to say there. I recommend this place if you need something quick and easy!

I do like the ton of fries that you get, but to be perfectly honest I think I prefer a burger from Wendy's. But Ill kept going back because my wife likes it.

I'm not exactly sure what the fuss is all about. I have pretty refined tastes (if I do say so myself) when it comes to burgers and fries, but there is seriously nothing that special here. The burgers are under-seasoned and over-cooked. The fries, well... sure you get a metric ton of them per order, but they are generally pretty soggy and under-seasoned as well. I'm not sure if this is true of other Five Guys (haven't been to another one), but this one is a little overhyped. It's not horrible, but I've had much better.

  • Janet H.

I really don't get what's the big deal with Five Guys. Is it really that great? I think it's ok but nothing that special. I think I can make a better burger on the grill at home myself.. hmm. Definitely overrated. Came here on a Monday night around 8pm. This place was deserted. Oh well, it's ok for a quick and cheap bite. I do love their fries with old bay though :)

I don't get the excitement over this place. I took my son for lunch today and got burgers and fries. Yes, the burgers are juicy and fresh, but nothing exciting. They're pretty tasteless and boring, even with all the toppings. What stood out for me is the fact that this place was dirty. It was pretty empty and plenty of workers, so no excuse for dirty tables, floors and sticky walls. Overall, this place is overpriced for a pretty generic burger and fries.

It's funny, I come from the East, but had my first great burger out West. I had In-N-Out for the first time in Malibu. Loved it. The perfect burger. I had Five Guys for the first time at this very location. It was great, but not perfect. Still, I've come here for dates, when shopping for weddings, and just when hungry. Lately Five Guys has been soggy and increasingly disappointing. Buck the trend, Five Guys! Show me what you got!

This is supposed to be the best burger? I had very high expectations, but once again, I am very disappointed with the food over here on the east side. The burger is a good deal for such a big quantity, but I really don't like the bun. The fries are pretty good though. I really miss In n Out. :(

  • Andy S.

Hard to find a better burger unless its Kobe beef. Burgers are juicy, tasty, and STACKED with toppings. Its messy and delicious and totally indulgent. Pair a burger with fries and a coke and you won't regret it. My normal meal? Bacon Cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, onion, mustard, hot sauce, A1 sauce. Small fry. Coke. Out of this world!

I had the best burger today. Ask for old bay on the fies. Forget about it. It was good. Takes a little longer for the burger but its worth the wait.

I was day dreaming of a five guys burger and fries while I was driving down to MD last weekend.i called my bro in Cali and told him to yelp a five guys in gaithersburg. ( thanks bro) You folks think the pomme frites fries are good, HELL NO!!!!! Five guys fries are the shiz nit!! das right the guy taking our order was very cool and friendly, he offered us free cups as we did not buy drink cause we had some in the car. i must have eaten a pound of peanuts they offer while you wait for your food.the burger was really good but next time i am sticking with my jr. hamburger. I can't wait for you guys to open up in NYC!!!!

  • Alex B.

What can be said? The best burgers _ever_. Made to order: two patties, cheese (if you want it), any toppings you could want, all put together into the Hamburger of the Gods. And of course, great fries, and all the peanuts you can eat while you wait. Sure it's on the more expensive side of the non-restaurant burger crowd, and sure they're not the healthiest things ever. But if you're looking for the best burger you've ever had, this is the place to go.

This is my favorite burger chain in the country, be careful to order the LITTLE CHEESBURGER, the regular ones have two stomach staple busting patties. 5 guys has to b simple to enjoy it, skip the mushy tomato, if u have the urge to go with a topping only have 1-3. The jalapeños are fresh and fantastic and the patties are thin and hand formed, but the peanuts suck.

  • Russell S.

Love the burgers and simple menu. The fries are solid, plus you get a sizable portion even for the small order. You could feed 2 people on one order.

  • Jennie P.

Ugh. I cannot believe people actually like this place. The fries are mediocre at best- the "cajun" ones seem to just be sprinkled with a tiny bit of Old Bay. Hardly remarkable. I made the mistake of ordering their veggie sandwich once- which is deceivingly listed on the menu (I thought it would be an actual veggie burger). If soggy mushroom, lettuce, and tomato sandwiches are your thing, then this is the place. If not, though... Seriously, I'd avoid this place at all costs. The only redeeming quality is the free peanuts, but if I wanted peanuts that badly, I'd gladly pay to have them elsewhere, not in this dump.

Stipulated, I'm a vegetarian. You might think there's no reason for me to review this place, since it's known mainly for the burgers. But here's the thing: I used to not like fries very much. They're all greasy, they make you all greasy, it's not worth it. Now that I've been to Five Guys a few times, I get a craving for fries every week or so. Of course, I try not to give in to the craving, but the fact that I only started to feel that way after I had their fries indicates, I think, that they have very good fries indeed (plus, they're fried in peanut oil, not animal fat). The veggie sandwich thing is actually pretty good, especially if you've ever secretly decided you like the vegetarian-barbeque-fallback chip sandwich (roll + ketchup + mustard + chips). It's kind of like that but without the chips and with mushrooms and onions. Peanuts in bins. Not that I need more calories while I'm there, but they're good. At lunch time, expect it to be very busy. Definitely worth it to call in your order ahead.

Who doesn't love a peanut-oil fried fry? 5 Guys makes some good stuff, that's for sure. However, my recent problems with this patricular outlet: 1. Other day I was there, and the person at the counter literally did not speak any English. got thru the entire order [because when you're a regular you know what you want and you know how to ask for it] and then found out [since my Spanish isn't actually too bad] that he was back on 'burger'. He had to go and find someone else who could take an order. 2. They have run out of Diet Coke in Kentlands. Entirely. how do you do that? for more than a week - no Diet Coke, only caffeine free DC. who drinks that stuff anyway? 3. it is COLD in there. I know it's gotten cold out in MD, or at least cold for MD, but still - it's uncomfortably cold in this place, and I am tired of wearing my coat while eating fries.

this place screams "ooo i wish i was Inn N Out Burger". well, you are not my friend. why? it takes so freakin long to get your dang burger! The burgers aren't as good either. BUT they are bigger, i will give you that. and the fries are more... um... fried. they have less of that only vegi oil taste. but they still don't beat Inn N Out.

Here is my comment. I called up one evening to place an order over the phone, two cheeseburgers and two veggie burgers for us and our friend's. The person on the line was very nice, but totally and utterly clueless. I repeated the order no less than 6 times. My husband and friend drive over to the place to pick up and they hadn't even started the order b/c I guess the lady still didn't know what we wanted?!?! Anyway, that's fine, I'd rather have them wait, BUT, we get home and there are no veggie burgers on the buns, just the toppings. We call back and they say "that's how they are--just the veggie toppings." Really? Just a bun and a few toppings? Is this true, or were they just saying that?

when i first discovered five guys i fell in love! the atmosphere is great and there are free peanuts to distract you from having to wait on your food...the burgers are big and juicy! plus you can put anything you want on it...the food is made in front of you and there fries have more flavor than any mcdonals or burger king no ketchup needed!

I'd heard about this chain all the way on the west coast. I had high expectations. It is a cool concept. I like the way you can add whatever toppings you want. But the burger and fries were just OK. Maybe one factor was because it was a cold night and the place was an ice box which didn't help. I'd have to say that they better hope that in-n-out burger doesn't come to town. They are better (although less topping choices) and much much cheaper. It was really expensive for what you got.

Love the bacon burger (baby one) with fries. Always done right. It's nice to be able to put whatever you want on it. I don't quite understand why people say it's really bad for you because even the burgers you make at home is bad too I suppose. I enjoy throwing the peanuts at my friends especially when after a few drinks. It was so convenient to be able to walk to the restaurant from home.

Oddly enough, the ONLY Five Guys I've ever been to that has gotten my order right (I get like a billion toppings, and all other Five Guys always forget a topping or two, or add one that I didn't ask for). However, it also drives me batty that they always put my burgers on the bottom of the bag, and the fries on top (which means I have to dig around the fries to get to my burger), no matter how many times I ask them to put the fries in a seperate bag, or just hand me the burgers without a bag. The cashier was completely silent. Like, ninja silent. I think she grunted at me once, as she handed the receipt to me...but it was probably the fry cook behind her. I like to believe that it really was the fry cook and not her. I like to live with the belief that the cashier is really a siren of Greek mythology trapped at the Five Guys in human form by the manager, who is a great wizard, harnessing the magic of gluttony for his own personal gain. She refuses to speak because if any human ever hears her voice, they would be lured to their death by eating Five Guys burgers until they burst. Which will only make the manager-wizard even more powerful. She will only be freed when an anorexic prince enters through the doors of Five Guys - the only person with the willpower to resist her voice...but alas...what anorexic would ever be caught dead at a Five Guys?!?

This is a good chain of restaurants with consistent food. This location has a small dining area but very good food. It's my go-to spot when I'm in Germantown

In N Out or Five Guys? Depends on if I'm west coast or east coast. Five guys is all about a Cheeseburger with pickles, lettuce, tomato, fried onions, a-1 sauce, relish, jalapeno, green peppers, mushrooms, and hot sauce.

I think we've established I'm a fan of Five Guys--since it's probably the only burger joint I've reviewed multiple times in multiple areas. This was the first time the boyfriend and I had visited this particular one, which is less than 5 minutes drive from his place, after having a Subway craving and finding it closed at 9 pm on a Saturday evening (huh?). *Only* real bone of contention was counter service--when the boyfriend began ordering his burger, upon pausing for approximately .5 seconds the young lady at the cash register interrupted him to point to the menu on the counter to tell him to pick from those items (which, he actually WAS doing.....and mind you, they weren't busy). While he was ordering his topping she stopped to answer the phone, then kind of impatiently gestured for him to continue ordering while she answered it, when really she could simply have asked us to wait a moment, or asked the person to hold. Also at some point during this process she interrupted his order of small fries to point out the difference between the small and regular. It was near the end of the day, I get it--you deal with a lot of people who don't know Five Guys, don't assume the person you haven't seen a billion times is one of those because he or she pauses. While I ordered she was still on the phone, asked for a bacon cheese dog with my toppings. Since I spoke quite clearly and she got everything else correct, I'm guessing being on the phone while taking my order kept her from adding the *bacon* part of my bacon cheese dog, since my boyfriend was standing further away from me and heard me ask for bacon. She wasn't unpleasant at all, so it's not a complaint, just an observation from someone who has worked in customer service over a decade. Put the phone on hold or ask the customer if they can wait a moment. If I was anything like a TON of people I've worked with in my career, I would have been back up there complaining about my order being incorrect. I mean, it's bacon, it's a pretty important ingredient. Thankfully we weren't charged for said bacon--if we had been they would have been re-making my order. Living near several of these where I've received top of the line customer service and a bit less impatient counter service (like in Tyson's Galleria, where they've been jam packed on more than one occasion I've gone after the movies let out--AFTER closing and still doing a hell of a job and doing it with a smile) I will neither rush back nor avoid this particular Five Guys. It was near closing, it was probably a long day. Restaurant was very clean and well stocked.
