I thought the reviews speaking ill of the food at Bar Louie were just hating and being brats ..nope! All true. The food isn't my favorite. No I didn't order anything fancy, my burger was awful! So awful, I only ate half (I was pretty hungry btw). WTH Bar Louie, it's a freaking burger! Anyway, the service could have been better, the waitress seemed frazzled and inexperienced, to be honest, she even had a little 'tude WTH 2.0! Yea ok there's happy hour but so does Green Turtle. I thought this place would live up to it's ambiance but it paled in comparison to the quality dive bars I nearby. I won't be back. Nexxxxt!

A friend wanted me to meet her here to catch up. Right before I left to head out, I checked Yelp. I noticed lots of not so nice reviews and was worried. Fortunately, we had an AMAZING server- her name was Kelly. She was friendly, knew the menu, and was on point with drink refills. The food was pretty tasty. We shared Loaded Tots, quesadilla, calamari, spinach and artichoke dip, and shrimp lettuce wrap. I only had one mojito because it was strong and oh so good! I'm very happy my experience was much better than others. Will def be back.

Came here at 5:30pm on a Friday and was informed it was self seating. Ordered the Hummus & Tsatziki appetizer, Ginger Shrimp Lettuce Wraps, and Chicago Stockyard Burger. The appetizer wasn't that great in fact I have had better hummus in many other places. The carrots that came with the appetizer were actually a mixture of old and fresh. The Ginger Shrimp lettuce wraps tasted like they took frozen vegetables, placed it in a wok, added the already cooked but frozen shrimp, and then added a commercial grade sauce. The burger was overwhelming with blue cheese that I didn't taste the traditional taste of a burger even slightly. I don't know why this burger was even constructed. Left paying $40 but I would have rather purchased a Slim Fitted Calvin Klein shirt at Marshalls than consume these calories. Btw second time here and last time.

After being open a week, this place still acts like it's Preview Night. While it was happy hour and drinks and apps were attractively priced, that was the only positive aspect of Bar Louie. The service was incredibly slow. Managers were correcting poor employee service in the open. Hostesses were loudly arguing with waiters. Bartenders were "performing" for no one instead of cranking drinks in a packed house. Most everyone in our large group that got beers asked for 20oz beers when offered 20 or 14oz. At best, 12oz glasses were used. Martinis were terribly inconsistent in appearance and mixing. Food tasted like someone raided the local Costco. The atmosphere is completely unwelcoming. From random doormen showing up from time to time (even though it was never full capacity) and turning one of our late-arriving party members away even though there were two empty seats at our table to the insanely loud music playing in an acoustically awful layout to the unclear customer base (office happy hour crowd? pre-night on the town crowd? locals?) to the dripping air conditioner vent above our table the place is currently a hot mess and needs an immediate reevaluation by ownership of what it is trying to be in this area.

It is what it is: a passable spot to meet for a drink if you're in the area after work. Happy hour pricing is great, with $3 drafts and several half-price apps. I can't really say much more than that. Every time I've come here, there's been a "huh?" kind of moment with the staff: sometimes they don't know the menu at all, sometimes they are rude and indifferent, and every time it detracts from the experience. For example: the last time I was here with my girlfriend, our bartender asked us to close our tab early so she could get her tip after just 15 minutes of serving us. This is something I'd do for an employee of average attentiveness, and for one who had served me at least two drinks or so...but when the bartender herself asks you to do it after pouring one beer, it feels a little awkward. I tipped a normal 20%...but I'm not thrilled to do that for a server who doesn't really say a word to me until it's time for her to leave. This place really has the makings of a decent spot for the Hunt Valley Towne Centre, with pretty good food and great specials that will appeal to the 9-5 crowd seeking a good happy hour, or the late night crowd looking for a drink and snack after a movie. But there are a lot of shortcomings in terms of service. I think it needs just a few more months to find its place and let the staff find its way.

I had high hopes for Bar Louie since it was a local chain and I thought the popularity made it good. The service was ok. We had a large group with two servers so I thought that would help. The food came out slow so some of us had to start eating before everyone got their meal. A few actually almost finished their meal before everyone got served. It took a long time for us to pay the bill as the two servers seemed to disappear for awhile. The food was ok, I had one of their signature dishes which was the ahi tuna. The vegetables were soaking in the sauce. The sauce was good but it was way too much. The tuna itself was ok. Shared some friends tater tots which were really good.

I ordered the hummus appetizer and a strawberry peach bellini martini. I'd had that martini here before and it was still very good, but $10 is the average martini price which is standard for a nice place but this place had the air of a sports bar with all of the tvs tuned to sports. The martini had fresh raspberries in it which are delicious when eaten at the end as they're cocktail-soaked. The hummus platter came with hummus, pesto hummus, and tzatziki. The hummus dishes were delicious and well made. The tzatziki was the worst I've ever had anywhere. I've been to Greece and know what it should taste like. I've had bad knockoffs before (and a few pretty good ones) but this was hands down the worst. It was sweet (?) with no garlic taste. It was too thick. I saw some dill, I think, but I didn't taste it. It was missing the quintessential white pepper. Just awful. I told our waitress, in a way that I hope came off as helpful. Hopefully when I go back if I try this again it will be made much better and more accurately.

This restaurant is next door to CPK and the odd thing is that my favorite salad at CPK is no longer on the menu at CPK so we went to Bar Louie because it looked interesting and was thrilled to see a good variety of items on the menu ...AND.... my favorite salad!- Pear, blue cheese, mixed greens- add your own protein- my partner chose sliders- VERY NICE- ate on the balcony and enjoyed it- we will return. Great addition to this area.

Great menu selections, little pricey for salads if you want to add protein but still tastey... great drinks!

First time for dinner tonight with the wife and kids. We like the "sit anywhere" policy. Soda machine was broken, so lemonade and water for everyone. I had the philly burger. It was good. Fries were tart as they had vinegar on them. Sesame tuna and BBQ burger for my wife and older son, younger one had the Mac and cheese. His grade for this was fair, and he had probably eaten Mac and cheese at over 50 different restaurants. Over all a nice place. We are not bar people but it is worth trying.

The worse service I have ever experienced. Waited a little under 2 hours to get food. Server went to every other table except for mine, called another server over to take our food order and he just laughed it off saying we must be sitting in a bad spot... Had to wait over 30 minutes to order another round of drinks. At this point I was frustrated and asked to speak with a manager. I watched the manager laughing and going through pictures and conversing at a table across the bar. The server assured me she had notified the manager that I needed him, however it took 35 minutes for the manager to finally come see what was wrong!! When I complained to him about the lack of service and professionalism and why he took so long to come see what the issue was, he rudely cut me off saying that He wont do anything for me if Im going to insult him, and claimed no one had told him I needed him (wonder why he came to the table then if he didnt know..) and acted very hostile. At this point I was done, so I just said forget it and paid and left. Server had offered to discount two drinks as a courtesy, and they even failed to do that on the tab - they can keep it. Absolutely horrible service and management. I dont blame the servers, I blame the management for lack of professionalism maintaining proper service and lack of respect to the customer. If you are looking for a good night and proper service take your time and money elsewhere.

Came here for a late lunch so the restaurant was pretty empty. Ordered the Louie burger and the meat was not fresh and had a funky taste to it. Their ketchup also tastes weird so maybe it needs to be renewed... Also ordered the chicken nachos and the toppings were very skimpy and the chicken was really tough and dry. The only thing about our experience that we enjoyed was the coke because it tasted u usually delicious and the carbonation was on point- not too harsh and not too light. Unfortunately, great soda isn't enough to make someone want to return to your restaurant.

I walked by here this summer and aroma of the food caught my attention. When a friend talked about getting together for burgers on a Tuesday night, I remembered reading that Bar Louie had $5 burgers till close on Tuesdays. Walking towards the restaurant, the scent of burgers was apparent from 100 yards away. Walking in, I saw a large crowd and sought out a sever/hostess to inquire about getting a table. I was told by one server that the restaurant has a 'sit anywhere' policy. I'm not sure it this is their policy everyday, but I sat down at a table and waited for my friend. Another server told me that this table was reserved. I said "Another sever said it's a sit anywhere policy" and she said that was true, but she already told another party they could have this table. Said if I wait by the bar, she'll make sure I get the next open table She was true to her word, I was seated within 10 minutes. Points in the favor or the restaurant that the $5 burger special isn't just for the burger itself, charging extra for toppings. It's $5 for ANY of their signature burgers, usually $12 each. Plus your choice of fries or tater tots. I opted for the bacon and fried egg burger, my friend went with the bbq/fried onion straw bacon burger. The burgers were served perfectly as ordered. They were large, hot and severed open face, with the onions/tomato and lettuce placed on the other half of the bun so they didn't wilt. The tater tot's were crispy and not greasy. I can't speak for the fries because I didn't try them, but my friend ate every last one. I agree with the other comments about the decibel level, but given that we were seated near the bar we expected it to be a bit loud. It's wasn't so loud that it interfered with out conversation, but if there had been a local sports game on the large TV's we might have felt differently. All in all, we had a great experience and a very reasonably priced dinner. I will go back and try the rest of the food.

Ceiling fell after we sat down. Just missed hitting one person in our party. My food was raw. Twice. No one refilled drinks. I'd give no stars if I could. The manager put both of my meals on the bill and said then that he removed "both." Never returning.

This is a BAR. Not really a restaurant. Do not expect a great sit down meal. If you want a nice selection of drinks and large appetizers and decent bar food, then this is a fine place. Great for happy hour and watching games with friends.

First time eating here. food was excellent. service was awful. waitress Marissa had major attitude issues. cussed and complained about how the group paid with 20 dollar bill. rolling her eyes whenever asked for anything. otherwise atmosphere was great as well.

I'll preface this by saying the restaurant is still very new and I think all places should get the second chance after a month or two of being open. That being said, our experience wasn't so great. I ordered ahi tuna and it was cooked completely wrong, the drinks were pretty overpraiced, our waiter didn't know much about the food on the menu, and our appetizer, salad, and entree all came at once. The server made no mention of everything coming at once and just made sure we got all of our food. The server was nice enough though so maybe he will get better with more training. The atmosphere is fun and upbeat, it definitely seems like a fun place to go for happy hour, but it's lacking in other areas. There are too many other good restaurants in the area to make a visit here worth it. I will try again in a month or so to see if some kinks have been worked out.

Bar Louie offers expensive signature drinks and below average appetizers. Come at happy hour or pay too much.

I was excited to check out this new place. The girls in the office and I went for lunch. The place was pretty inside. Nice remodel after Jessie Wong's left. It was early for lunch so the place wasn't too busy yet. Our waitress was Marissa and unfortunately she did not add to our dining experience. I'm not sure if she was having a bad day or what but there was certainly an attitude and a lot of eye rolling when we asked her for anything. The food took a bit longer than we expected but overall was good. I got the grilled veggie wrap and it was yummy. The tots, however, were overdone. I guess I will give the place another try to see if the service is better. Otherwise, this place will not be in my list of favorites.

Had another good experience here. Not sure what to make of all of the negative comments on here but they helped so thx. Anyway I ordered a double portobello bacon & provolone cheese w/ lettuce, toms, pickles, onions, & ketchup on their hamburger bun. Basically a double cheese burger without the meat. It was delicious! Side of loaded tots to wash it all down finished me off. For appetizer the mussels are good. They are cooked in a NewCastle Beer broth & served with quite a large roll of homemade baked bread that we promptly used to sop up the left over tasty broth. Our server was great. I rate my experience here as a successful one.

It wasn't as bad as I had expected from reading other reviews. I ordered the Louie Burger. I figured you can't go wrong with a cheeseburger w/ bacon and a fried egg, pretty simple. It was good and so we're the fries. This place serves your typical bar food which is fine. I think the expectations are too high from some of the other reviews. It's not meant to blow you away but the food is good. I can see it being a great after work spot for happy hour. I'm not from the area so I wouldn't go out of my way to come back on a Saturday evening.

I'll give this place 4 stars, definitely. The food we ordered was pretty much what we expected (though the salsa and my sandwich were a bit spicy, but it was good). The baked mac n cheese did not seemed baked, but our daughter still loved it. The service was great. Our waitress was kinda new and told us it was happy hour by accident (it's only a weekday thing, obviously), but that was nothing. She was very attentive on drinks, nailed our order with 100% accuracy, and was very friendly. A management figure of some type came around and asked us how we were doing. It was a small thing but I always like it when they care enough to take some time for this kinda thing.

Wife and I stopped by for or first visit last night. First thing you notice it that the place is LOUD. Concrete floors, high ceilings a and a large open space means the accoustics are horrible. We had to lean over and talk directly in each others ear to be heard at all. It was $5 burger night so we decided to take advantage. Server informed us that burgers are cooked medium well and that's it. There's no other way to order. Odd, but ok we'll try 'em. Wife's burger (Portabella) came out well done and very dry. She was only able to eat half of it. My burger (Fried Louie) was medium well. Also dry but the yolk from the fried egg made it edible. If we paid full price for the burgers (about $11-12) I would have been unhappy, but for $5 they were passable. I'm not sure what the big deal about the tots are. They seem like the standard tots you'd pick up in any frozen food section. Service was quick and attentive. No problems there. Finally, $3.25 happy hour drafts is not a good price.... especially given the small glasses they are served in. Hate to give it two stars but it was definitely a mediocre experience. We will give them the benefit of the doubt and visit again since it's still fairly new and they're probably (hopefully) still working out the bugs.

Man, the reviews posted here are so disappointing and misleading. Yes, the place is loud. But that breathes life into the restaurant and makes you feel like you are in Manhattan or some other town that doesn't have a bedtime. Hunt Valley is demonstrating its age and crotchetiness with these moans about the noise and acoustics. And the food is great. The menu is broad enough and they do dishes well. I've been here several times and enjoyed each meal. We do not drink, so I can't speak to the complaints about "value" of happy hour and other drink sizes or prices. Ignore all the whiners and give this place a try, unless you are going with your book club or you are someone who listens to NPR or talk radio exclusively and don't like any sound with a beat. And their restaurant opens up in good weather with numerous garage doors. Their indoor and outdoor seating areas are much more similar to places you'd find in Austin or Miami. Make sure you go when it's warm out and they have these doors rolled up, it is a great experience!

For a place that has Bar in its name, the bar menu is just ok. Caesar salad was nothing special. I got mac and cheese with fried chicken, and had to ask for more than the three mini bites of chicken. I got more, and was charged another $4. Weak.

Drinks yes, food NO! I've been here twice. First time was happy hour and the place was crowded. Food took a while to get out to the table and was medicore at best. The menu has nothing difficult on it to cook and is really bar food anyway. This past Saturday at 1:00pm for lunch place was relatively empty and the kitchen had a perfect opportunity to excel. My wife and I ordred the tortilla soup which was COLD - not warm, just plain cold. The service staff took iut back and we wiated for them to microwave up a new batch. My wife sandwhich was returned twice because it was cooked wrong and we felt sorry for the surver who put the order in, but it just came out wrong. The kitchen mangaer was kind enough to come out and appologize and comped the sandwhich and the soup. Would have prefered good food. Definately a great bar scene - but dont go their to eat or expect anything other than substandard food. Bright note - all the servers were pleasant and appologetic. Without them this place wouldnt be worth the visit.

Great Food. Definitely get their lightly fried Boneless Buffalo Wings. Short Rib sliders are also a must have. Backyard BBQ burger is a great substitute though. Great place to watch a football game.

Great happy hour specials Monday - Friday from 4-7 and all the food I've tried (admittedly it's mostly been appetizers) has been great. Tuesdays are $5 burger nights from 5pm to close and it's my intention to take advantage of that in the near future.

Cool atmosphere but the food is pretty average. We had to send the mussels back as they were overlooked. The bar is nice though. Fun for apps and drinks before a movie, wouldn't recommended if you're looking for a good dinner though.

Went there for the Ravens game. No specials on the beer and food menu. They just kept advertising their $5 burgers, which weren't even last night. Total ripoff and average atmosphere. You are better off going next store to the Turtle, trust me. This place will not last.

Good food. Bar/energetic atmosphere. Nice service. Reasonable prices. Good mixed drinks. Just very loud.
