I ordered hush puppies and chicken tenders. Both were good! Beware of the special hot sauce; it was very very hot!! We were sad to learn that the establishment doesn't take reservations for a large party. We wanted to have a dinner here prior to our wedding. Oh well, I am sure that we will be back.

Disappointing would be an understatement. I was staying near Andrews Air Force Base with some coworkers and we decided to give this place a try since it was the top-rated restaurant on Yelp for this area. Food - I wanted to try their "award-winning" brisket so I ordered the Brisket and Mac off the specials. Brisket flavor wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great. I had to actually cut the brisket with a knife. The mac n' cheese looked and tasted like it had been sitting in a warming tray at a buffet for an hour. The Texas toast was buttered toast. The coleslaw wasn't bad. One of my friends got the chicken and ribs and said it was the worst grilled chicken he has had in years. Another friend got a steak and didn't finish it. Service - Waited 30 minutes for food. I had water to drink and I finished it 3/4 of the way into my meal and the waitress never offered to refill. Price - About $20 with water to drink and after tip. If this is the best restaurant in this area, I weep for the local residents. I will be hitting a chain restaurant like IHOP or Ruby Tuesday before I come back to this place (sad, I know). It was really, really bad and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

I stumbled on this place driving back into Washington. Sadly as we all know, DC sucks for bbq. So I'm always on the lookout for decent ribs around the beltway. I didn't try the spare ribs because, well, I marginally prefer the BB's. I know they're not 'real' bbq, but they were delicious. Not over sauced at all, and very tender. Eating a full rack was no problem at all, even when preceded by (excellent) pulled pork quesadillas. The ambience was, well, not DC. Which is good or bad, depending on your taste. Mostly good, according to mine. There was, unsurprisingly, no room for dessert. So I can't help you there! But otherwise, this is my new go to place for ribs in the area.

Still the best. I get a kick out of WaPo and Washingtonian food writers and critics talking about new BBQ joints in DC that have been here for a year like they discovered BBQ! Texas Ribs and BBQ has been around for forty years and at this location , their best, for over twenty. Still the best ribs and brisket in DCMdVA, period. I keep trying these others and they are good but not as great as Texas Ribs and BBQ.

Great BBQ Restaurant;) I was surprised that I did not need to wait at all. This restaurant is super famous tho. High rating, also President Obama went there( His picture is on the wall.) Also super clean. I ordered their sample platter. About $15. It comes with rib, brisket, big chicken leg, coleslaw, potato salad, and texas style toasts. They are simply good. There are 2 BBQ sauces but I did not need to use them because the BBQ are flavorful enough. Chicken was really tender. Brisket was juicy. Rib was not that tender but delicious. Coleslaw was good because they don't use too much mayonnaise. Potato salad too. Toasts were crispy and soft and tasty. i'd like to try their sweets next time. Coconut one looks so good at the entrance.

. Our hotel told us it was on Diners, Drive-In, and Dives, so of course we went. The food was massive in size and super tasty. One of the better BBQ places I've ever been to. My only grip is when I asked for onion rings instead of fries for my duaghters chicken, the waitress didn't tell me it was $7.99 for the onion rings. I think I ate like 1 because I was full. Had I known i was $8 to swap them out, I wouldn't have. I mentioned it to her, but she just shrugged her shoulders and did nothing. so I ended up paying for it. Great food, but that onion ring thing left a little sour taste in my mouth. It wasn't mentioned on the menu either.

3rd time coming to Texas Ribs and BBQ and every time I get consistent great service to compliment the the outstanding food. Gets a little crowded on Friday nights but the service is fast and steady!

BBQ here is great!! I've eaten here many times and have also gotten take out. I wish they had more choices for sides and bigger servings of the sides...but outside of that no complaints. Drinks are good and staff is friendly. If your looking for good BBQ and sides are an after thought...this place for you!!

I work at Andrews Joint Base...there's nothing close by. Tried this place twice and they are OK. It's a hit or miss depending on what you order. I love their hush puppies and the catfish sandwich. I could forego the brisket and definitely the Mac & Cheese. It seems to have a strong lunch crowd.

My husband and I are always in search of good Texas BBQ outside of Texas. We were out in Maryland and found this place. Upon finding it via yelp I learned that president Obama and Guy from the travel Channel has been here. Okay I tell myself it has a possibility of being good. The location is near Andrews Airforce base and many of the airmen and women officers seem to grab a bite here during their lunch hour. Again being another bonus. Upon entering I saw they sell their homemade BBQ sauce and lotto tickets by the pick up window. Waiting to be seated we got a glimpse of their dessert case. All the pies look so good but I knew I had a mission to eat BBQ. After seated we ordered fried mushrooms to start that came with a side of ranch for dipping. I wanted to order their special called tiger meat but they happened to be sold out, I decided to get their BBQ brisket sandwich with apple sauce. My husband ordered their brisket special that came with Texas toast, baked beans and mashed potatoes. So how was the food? The fried mushrooms were a small portion for the price but had a nice crispy flavored batter. The brisket sandwich I think would have tasted better on Texas toast. The brisket was okay but not juicy and flavorful unlike I'm use to. The BBQ sauce from here wasn't the best I ever had either. However I found out they have a tequila based hot sauce which is where the spicy and flavor it. Ask for this!!!! You can buy some to take home My husband meal was okay. The mashed potatoes weren't real and his brisket had some fatty areas for sure.

I can walk to from work. Beef Brisket sandwich is awesome. never had to wait for a table.

  • Janine H.

I went here because I live in the area and heard they have great ribs. Food is good, but not great. Also, my son's felt very uncomfortable. They felt like there is a little racism there. Won't be goin back.

First time here and the bbq was great! Recommend trying it out if you're in the area!

Wow! Okay, this is officially my new favorite BBQ joint in the DC area. Located in Clinton, MD near Andrews AFB, it's well worth the drive for their delicious, smoky barbecue. The smoked pork chop was the best I've ever had. Brisket, chicken, and ribs all got raves at my table. Plus, the service was terrific, and the prices were incredibly reasonable. Definitely try their yummy draft root beer too!

    (5)
  • Conrad B.

What a great place to grab barbecue. Their brisket is some of the best I have had. Smoked to perfection. The pulled pork is nice and moist. Their cowboy burger is the ultimate indulgence. So sweet and juicy. Try the sweet barbecue sauce if you go. You will not regret it.

Was stuck in DC near here and didn't see much of a selection of restaurants. The 4 stars on Yelp led me here. It is a nice place in sort of a suburb location. When you walk in, you can smell a bit of the smoke from cooking the briskest and other Bbq. Smells pretty darn good. Atmosphere is nice, not awesome, but nice. Waitresses were all friendly and knowledgeable. I had the brisket and taters dinner. It was darn good, but the brisket could have been a bit warmer. Sauces were good. Beer selection needs some improvement, but I did enjoy a MD micro brew called "Why" beer? Not sure how to spell that. It reminded me of Yuengling, but slightly better. No IPAs sadly. Overall, a good place and I do recommend it.

  • Erika S.

Ribs were delicious, I'll definitely be back for more! But heads up to the staff: The lady working the takeout counter might need another person to help her organize the orders. My order was only supposed to take 10 minutes, but I ended up waiting for about 20 minutes longer because she didn't recognize me while my food was waiting on the back counter. She seems like a lady about her business, but she might just need an extra set of eyes back there. Otherwise, great food :)

  • Dave S.

Very good service, and great ambience. Food was unfortunately just ok, and the prices steep for some things. For example paid $0.99 to sub fries for regular side, but given re-fried French fries. (You can tell when fries were dropped in fryer a second time by the look of the skin.) Sampler platter was also expensive considering the brisket pieces were really half pieces. Sauces good, and great service. Worth a stop, but wouldn't go just for the good.

  • Ant W.

After reading everyone's reviews, I had no choice but to try this place out! I arrived at 9 PM and missed the special (ribs & steak). Then I thought about the brisket. I remember seeing a newspaper article near the entrance promoting their catfish. Finally, I decided to order both of them. I must say the brisket is really good and tender. The fish was bland and the fries were horrible! My Arnold Palmer was lackluster too. I enjoyed their homemade hot sauce for their famous catfish. It was decent overall. I may go back...oh, the BBQ sauce was lackluster too!

    (3)
  • Zach H.

Last night I got take out from here for my wife and I. We were fairly impressed. Everything was really good. We both got the Sampler and all the meat was cooked to perfection! They put the sauce on the side, and didn't give a whole lot so ask for extra. We also ordered hush puppies, some of the best we ever had! The potato salad could have had some more seasonings in it, it was the only thing that was so-so.

  • John M.

Was at this place the other day. When I was working at Andrews. This place is one of the top BBQ in MD. Tried the special burnt ends home run great smoke flavor the meat was firm but tender amazing smoke ring. You have to try their special sauce in the Absolute bottle a little sweat never hurt any one. I highly recommend this place.

I live in the area so I've been a regular for years and until recently was always satisfied. My last three visits, however, have been very disappointing, and my visit today for lunch is EXTREMELY disappointing. I'm writing this review as I feast on my cold, hard, dry brisket sandwich lunch. I stopped in today and picked up two brisket sandwiches to go. They opened at 11:00, I arrived at 11:15 so why is my brisket cold, hard and dry? This is the second time in a month that the brisket was hard and dry. And they put no where near the amount of meat on the sandwich that they used to The only saving grace is that the roll is fresh and the sauce is good so I slathered it on so I could actually eat the sandwich. :( I would think 15 minutes after opening I would get the best part of the brisket unless they'll selling the leftovers from the night before! Maybe! I was there Tuesday, the 10th and had the St. Louis RIbs. Again, the sauce saved them! The meat from the bone to just around the gristle was good; the meaty part of the rib above the gristle was tough and I couldn't eat it. I also don't understand the no substitution policy. The ribs come with your choice of cole slaw, baked beans, string beans or potato salad. Why not french fries? How much do french fries and a side salad cost anyway? I don't like the taste of baked beans or potato salad and I don't eat string beans so my only option is cole slaw (which is actually very good!). And why do I have to pay an extra $1.00 for blue cheese dressing. Nickle and diming me, while giving me inferior food will make me take my money elsewhere!

This should get zero stars. Went here yesterday at the suggestion of a colleague and ordered the brisket sandwich. Mistake number one... I guess I should preface this by saying I spent about 10 years of my life in various cities in Texas and am a regular visitor to the state. On that note, I should say I had REAL bbq last summer in Dallas, TX, at a hole in the wall spot called Off the Bone (Yelp it). In any case, the sandwich came. Bone dry, over cooked. It was probably from the day prior, or something. The meat was lukewarm, the bun was cold. It was awful. Insult to injury, the potato salad was bland, bland, bland. No flavor. Well, the owner or manager came by, a short older white lady, and asked how the food was. I told her mine was dry and the smile disappeared from her face and she mockingly asked if I wanted some juice. Seriously. She really did say that. No, seriously. My food wasn't replaced and that place, her included, successfully gave me the worse BBQ experience I've ever had. Stay away. Try the Tender Rib in Suitland on Branch Ave if you are semi-close to the area. Not Texas, but not that bad.

I was travelling through the DC area and found this gem of a place. I thought I had made my way all the way back to Texas!! I had the Brisket sandwich and was totally awed by the experience. That was over 5 years ago and I've travelled all over the U.S. (including Texas!!) and have yet to find the same quality taste, customer service and ambiance I found here!! I have STOPPED trying to find Brisket, cuz I've given up looking for something equal of better that Texas Ribs & BBQ. I will just have to wait until I get back out there to sit down and have the Best Brisket sandwich anywhere in the U.S.A....

  • Que M.

This will be short and sweet. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR SPARE RIBS... HEAD DOWN OLD BRANCH AVE. I went here a while back and I just remember they gave you your money's worth and the spare ribs were legit. Top 10 in the DC area

Their fried catfish is well seasoned and has a nice crispiness to it. I am so glad i ordered this. It came with a side of toast which i thought was odd but then i ate it and it completely makes sense. My sweet potato was comparable to 2 1/2 baseballs put together. It was huge! The only that i would have changed is WHERE is the brown sugar for the sweet potato? Their sugar mixture doesn't cut it. Glad i ate here and if i was in the area again i would come back. Fyi-their brisket is to die for!!!!! I tried my boyfriends. Yum

Now as far as restaurants in Clinton go, TR&BBQ is cream of the crop. I enjoy the atmosphere, hole in the wall feel and all. During the lunch hours, it is frequently packed to the brim with Air Force patrons. The service is pretty decent, although it can feel more rushed then friendly. We've had a couple order mix ups, which they have corrected, but not necessarily with apology. To me, the food falls a little short. My favorite is the pulled pork sandwich. It comes with your choice of BBQ beans, potato salad, coleslaw or applesauce. Fries cost extra (womp womp). Their mild BBQ sauce does have a kick to it, so a combo of the pork with the sauce and the beans can have been feeling more pain then I'd like. I've tried a couple other platters and wraps, none of which were bad, but none have blown me away. Still a solid choice for the area, but nothing that has me overly excited to come back frequently.

Sooooo good. Everything here is fantastic. Come hungry because you'll want one of everything.

    (5)
  • Wang C.

BBQ so terrible it will make you want to slap yourself!!! The western salad is loaded with cheese which one can only assume it is to mask the COLD, dry and tasteless pulled pork. The spicy shirmp is anything but spicy and Luke warm at best. And all the seasoning is on the outside of the shell, so it gets lost when pealed. It is also served with cocktail sauce which makes no sense since the shrimp is SUPPOSED to be hot. Also they do you a favor by not serving shrimp before 4. They try to push alcohol on you, but it might be your best bet; the water tastes worst than in Mexico! The best item I had was the breaded mushrooms- and they were decent, but this place considers them one of their best items- pathetic! The only thing worse than this food, was the bar tender! I had to ask for a menu twice, and when I gave her my credit card she ran it, and left it on the counter for anyone to pick up. When someone asks for the bill, it's because they want to leave! If you rate this place higher than 2 stars, you have never had good bbq or service.

    (1)
  • Nick P.

Been here twice and it's been great both times! The brisket sandwich is great. Had the baby back ribs on visit number two and they were awesome! Fall off the bone meat and good bbq sauce. They have sauce bottles at the table so additional sauce can be added as desired. Cool spot and definitely worth going to if you want some bbq!

  • Tony M.

This 5 star review is long overdue. It's one of the first places I ever ate at when I first arrived to DC area. My future coworkers brought me here for lunch when I was here for my interview way back in 2004. And I still eat here at least once a month. My favorite work lunch spot by far. Everything on the menu is good, but my favorite is the fried chicken. It might be the best I've ever had. And the sweet BBQ sauce (you have to ask for it) is the best. And the service is always great.

    (5)
  • Chay C.

Only reviewing the fried catfish sandwich, it's the only meal I get, mmmm and the baked beans are so yummy! Ok so the catfish, OMG who seasoned it? It's seasoned so perfectly! I'm in love with this place!! And the service is ok as well. I usually get to go :)

  • Leo M.

Texas ribs & BBQ is one if my favorite places to eat. If I want to come in a restaurant, relax and get some amazing food & service, this is the place I like to go. Very warm and welcoming, they have a great staff. The brisket sandwich is by far my favorite on the menu, but they have plenty of award winning items to choose from. If you're anywhere near this place, you owe it to yourself to visit

My favorite restaurant in my hometown, for sure! Brisket and pulled pork: to-die-for with creamy cole-slaw, sweet tea, and some Keno. LOVE.

  • Nene O.

I'm usually not one for barbecue places but this place was very good. I had the catfish with ribs and Mac and cheese with beans. The Mac and cheese was not good, unless you are into velvetta Mac and cheese. The beans were ok but kinda sweet. I honestly will return to this place for some good barbecue. The sides aren't that great but the actual barbecue is very good.

    (4)
  • Mark A.

This is a long time local joint and being from the South I appreciated this place. I got the babyback and mac special and thought it was great. The mac/cheese was really cheesy but good. The ribs and beans had great flavor and the mild sauce was a good accompaniment. So I'd enjoy visiting here again and just glad it was not busy. Great servers and the price was really good.

    (4)
  • Michael J.

Great Ribs. Decent pricing. Looked at reviews here in Yelp and saw the high stars so we decided to eat here. Glad we did, agree with all the positive reviews of food. Would definitely come back

  • Ken D.

Ok finally got my Togo food after waiting 45 minutes. Simply ridiculous and of course it was screwed up. Mine apparently wasn't the only one. Worst take out service ever. I ordered greens and got beans. I had the ribs and chicken with beans( I ordered greens) and cole slaw. Slaw was good chicken was ok ribs were more like jerky. Couldn't eat most of them. I can safely say that the Texas toast was the best thing I had. Extremely disappointed that I wasted 45 mins of my life for food as bad as this

    (1)
  • Slick M.

Worst country fried steak with instant mashed potatoes and brown gravy! Seriously I may be biased since I just moved back to Maryland after 10 years in Georgia, but no matter, the skimpy gravy absorbed into the steak so there basically was no gravy. I prefer the white country gravy much more too. The potatoes were from a box. So light in texture they couldn't even hold their shape. Ugh.

Yum, Yum, Yum...no frills kinda place with lots of down home cooking. I dig it.

  • Leellani C.

Ok, no issues at all note this is only a preliminary rating I need to try a few more things to determine consistency and flavor ( see how my food network skills re working here lol) BUT I gotta say that I like a place where you smell the BBQ before you even pull up in the lot, that is what draws me into a BBQ joint.....someone tell where that is around here I wanna go asap......

  • Patricia S.

This is hands down the best BBQ ribs, brisket and slaw in the DC metro area! This is a not to be missed place frequented by VIP's from around the globe! The people here are so nice, even when it get so very busy they still have time to chat and make you feel welcomed. It''s a well run place where the customer is king. Their BBQ Sauce is delicious too. I love Texas Ribs and BBQ!

    (5)
  • Don W.

First of all excellent service at this place. The food was really good too plus they have several types of BBQ sauces to chose from. Fair prices for BBQ and you get a whole heap of food.

  • Maynard A.

Ate here for lunch one afternoon. Service was prompt. I ordered the brisket sandwich. The brisket was a bit dry. But the BBQ sauce they have in the tables was on point.

Great ribs! All the food was amazing and the waitress really helpful! It was also reasonable priced. Well be back for sure

  • Dana Z.

Ahhh conflicted! While it's not the best BBQ I've had, it was better than anything I had in my recent trip to Texas. (It's true!) Still, the food was preeettttyyyy goooooood. Service was good and quick. My pulled pork sandwich came out steaming hot. You have to add your own BBQ sauce which I don't really understand their reasoning behind that... The potato salad was a let down. It had hard boiled eggs in it and I think more than actual potatoes. So sometimes it was like you couldn't tell if you were biting down on an egg or a really overcooked potato. It was sad. Still, the pulled pork sandwich was pretty wonderful and if I'm in the area again I would definitely go back and try some more things.

Best restaurant in the area directly around Joint Base Andrews. The food is on par with most BBQ locations that are not chains. Nothing special but just being average makes you a standout in this area of Maryland. Unlike many other places in the area, you don't feel like you and your family may be in danger for just being there. Highly frequented by military folks from the base for this reason.

  • William A.

I can't speak to if this is authentic Texas BBQ or not but I can say it was excellent . I had the brisket sandwich with coleslaw and french fries . Everything was excellent . The brisket was tasty and moist , the cole slaw had the right amount of dressing and a nice crunch . The fries wearing piping hot , tender in the middle and crisp and firm on the outside. The waitstaff was attentive without being intrusive . It was well worth the drive to come here and I will back. One word of advice if you park in the back parking lot and they are smoking meat out back even if you're full the scent of smoke will tempted to go back in. That's a good thing and a bad thing as I would explode if I ate more lol

Personality an friendliness totally lacking here. Wanted to place a to go order & 2 people pretty much turned their backs to us when we approached the counter. WTH?? I assumed they didn't like us specifically, but then I recalled a couple of other Yelpers who experienced the same thing. Not sure what is going on here. Maybe the just like locals. No fun in that. Unfortunately, the food wasn't anything to rave about either. The ribs tasted like they didn't have flavor unto itself and relied on the sauce to give it more flavor. Too bad. Look elsewhere folks.

  • Brenton C.

Don't be fooled by the 5 star reviews. Ordered the baby back ribs. Worst ribs I've ever had. Extremely fatty. Brisket was undercooked and the waitress didn't want to let me send them back. Food was subpar. You do better going to a smokey bones or famous Dave's. This place is a hole in the wall for a reason. Gave them two stars instead of one because I was able to atleast finish my meal. Oh yeah, beans were great. Potato salad tasted like it was three weeks old.

One of the best barbecued ribs I've had in a long time. Brisket was delicious also. Draft root beer on tap is awesome; tastes like birch beer. I recommend anyone visiting the DC area who's nearby to come over to the Texas Ribs & BBQ!

  • Eric S.

Great barbeque, had the sampler with chicken, ribs and brisket. Everything spot on, I prefer sauce on the side they provide both a mild and a HOT, as the owner said tonight just mix it together until you get the heat you want, outstanding. I had two sides cole slaw and BBQ beans both very tasty. Will definitely be stopping by again when in the area.

  • Andrew G.

Very good smoked half chicken meal and very reasonable prices. I really liked the beans. Got a whole lot of chicken for just being a half. The chicken was cooked perfectly. The sides were somewhat small, but overall the meal was complete. The service is great.

This is probably the best BBQ in Southern Maryland and lower DC area. The meats are simple and the homemade sauces are amazing! Even during the lunch rush you can get in and out in less than 45 mins.

    (4)
  • Miranda B.

Love the brisket sandwich and chocolate cream pie (when they have it)!!! We frequent here often and they do a good job pushing through a large lunch crowd. The wait staff could be a little more pleasant but I chalk it up to them being busy.

I would say my fellow Yelpers let me down, but perhaps to a Marylander this place is considered good. I was doing some work in the area and found this place with a 4-start rating on Yelp, and got that BBQ craving. I passed it up the first time but when I came back around it was pretty easy to spot, so I must have just zoned out. When I got inside, there was nobody at the hostess stand, and although three employees walked past and looked at me, it wasn't until the fourth one came by that I was acknolwedged. And even then she acted as if I was imposing on her for wanting to be seated. Either way......there were plenty of empty booths and tables, but she chose to seat me at a table adjoining a gentleman who was sitting alone.......playing matchmaker, maybe? It was OK, though, as we struck up a conversation and he made some recommendations, telling me he'd never had anything he didn't like here. Trusting his judgment, I ordered the brisket sandwich with a side of baked beans and potato salad. The server was on top of his game, and I had my food VERY quickly (in the blink of an eye, as they say). And I will say they weren't stingy with the meat.....in fact, I actually pulled a couple of slices off the sandwich because it was too big for me to bite it....but not to worry, it didn't go to waste! The brisket itself was actually very good.....nice and tender, juicy, and a good smoky flavor. I would have been ahead to just eat it as it was, but oh no! I just HAD to pour on some of their sauce, and that's where it all went downhill. Although the place is called "Texas" bbq, the sauce was more reminiscent of Carolina BBQ, with LOTS of vinegar. I honestly couldn't tell much difference between their hot and mild versions, but the vinegar was overpowering in both. The baked beans had more onion that I prefer, and could have used a little more sweetness...not sure if they used molasses or brown sugar but whichever it was, they needed more. The potato salad was alright.....I've had better, but I've definitely had worse. For the sandwich with two sides and an iced tea, it came to around $11, so not too bad overall on the price. They do have desserts, and the apple pie looked tasty, but I didn't go for it. My table partner claimed it was great, but since he steered me wrong on the BBQ sauce, I'm not sure if I trust him on the pie either. I'm not sure if I'll be back in the area again to go back and try anything else, but if I am I may give them one more shot, as my table partner also claimed they have a very good catfish dinner......but then again, maybe not.

Did I just read that someone complained in their review of too much meat in their brisket sandwich? Sheesh, guess you can't satisfy everyone. On the other hand, I'm not quite sure how this place is 4+ stars. First impression? I too tried the brisket sandwich (which was adequately portioned) and I would consider it decent, but a little dry. The sides were average. I also tasted some of the ribs and and chicken, but was not blown away. The staff was friendly enough, but the place seemed a bit dated, complete with the garnish on the plate. It's a good sport if you're in the area, but I wouldn't travel miles for their BBQ.

First time here and I was pleasantly surprised. The staff was polite and very chipper! Out waitress, Patty, was super nice, attentive and helpful. The food was delicious. I ordered the smoked sampler and it was delish! Pros: service, had that smoked barbecue flavor in the meats, price. Cons: chicken was a tad dry but with the sauce - it was good, potato salad was a little bland, ribs were very tasty but could've used a little more dry rub.

Ok. It's nothing to write home about. The people there were friendly but the taste and quality was just ok. I have easily had better. The meat was a bit dry (all three of us thought the same) and the sauce was a bit bland.

Smells great outside!! When I went inside, I found the service to be very slow and the portions to be less than stellar. The taste did not live up to the smell and the meat was a bit dry. Maybe it is a harsher review, since I am from Texas, but there would be some angry Texans if they experienced what I did. If there is nothing else in the area, and you have a craving, this would be an ok stop, but outside of that, I am not sure I would make a special trip for it.

Nice little restaurant! Has a "mom and pop" feel. They're BBQ sauce is the best I've had in the area and they're baked sweet potato is off the chain. Very simple, but it's a huge nicely baked potato with cinnamon sugar and butter on the side. Yum!

Brisket Sammy, fries, coleslaw. Family enjoyed the baby back ribs. We actually liked this BBQ place so much that we drove to it a second time, even though it isn't close to the house. I've had a lot of Texas BBQ, and for Maryland, this is pretty awesome. Service is decent. BBQ sauce is great! (Very busy during the week at lunch time-full of military-but still got in with 5 people within 10 minutes.)

This place is great and a perfect fit for a lower priced Texas Roadhouse. The only things missing are sweet rolls and butter. I got the brisket and pulled pork sandwich. At first I wasn't impressed and thought it was dry but then a friend at the table over got his and the juices were running all over. He said it was great and almost too moist. The sauces were good and remember to request the sweet, they don't keep it out on the tables. The only thing missing that I'd like to see is a nice dense, sweet cornbread. We'll be back for sure!!!

OUTSTANDING, spicy bbq. Very very good. I always got the pulled pork or beef and ate everything on my plate, down to the Texas Toast. Great beans, great sides, great mugs of beer, and a surprising country atmosphere for being 5 minutes away from DC. I went here a LOT when living in MD. Make sure you give it a try.

I like smoked food. I mean, forget the possibility of contracting cancer from eating it; I'd risk it. But if you ask me to risk creating a throat or stomach cancer from this place, I'd rather go vegan (hmmm, not gonna happen). The food was good. The man and I ordered takeout for an in-home date. I got one of the two platters with the multi meats (chicken, ribs, and brisket) with potato salad and coleslaw. Item by item: Chicken - could've gotten better from Boston Market Ribs - a bit on the sweet side, but probably the best item Brisket - tender, but tasteless Potato salad - mayo city (very creamy); you never knew what was on the fork Coleslaw - either I didn't get it or it was unmemorable All and all, the food was worth a try. And they are open on Sunday!

We have a winner! The pork ribs are the best that I've had in the area; hands down! The beans were outstanding as well. My friends raved about the Eastern Que sandwich and the brisket. I predict return trips and updates to this review. Well done Texas Ribs and BBQ!

Definitely the best restaurant in the area. Had pretty good ribs, slaw, and beans. I've also had the pulled pork sandwich which was damn good, and the wings weren't bad at all. I liked that they came with the sauce on the side so my wife could go less spicy if she wanted to. Service was good and fast, so was the take out. They have a full bar and TVs which I'm sure will be great during Football season. We'll be back for sure.

Great food and down home service. They got an extra star because they have have chili mac, something my Texas mother would make when I was young. We tried the chili mac, ribs, chicken, puled pork and onion rings. The onion rings were some of the best i've had. The meats while very good we could tell they weren't the freshest. We'll definitely be back. Let me sum it up in a couple words..."I'm happy."-My significant other.

Pretty darn good BBQ! I thought when I saw the name of this place that they served beef ribs since that is traditionally what "Texas Style" ribs are but they serve pork spare ribs here. These guys are pretty serious competition BBQ'ers based on the trailer that I saw outside the restaurant and the quality of the food that I had confirms that. The ribs were very tender and fell off the bone. The meat was of a good quality too. I have been in a few places that serve really cheap cuts of meat and you can taste it. The meat itself had a very subtle taste to it, I couldn't tell what it was seasoned with but it didn't overpower the flavor of the meat. The ribs are served dry with the sauce on the side. The sauce, while good in my opinion, didn't really knock my socks off. It was good, but there was nothing distinctive about it. I like my BBQ sauce to have a little kick to it, that was the main reason for my reaction to it. If you have ever had the sauce at Fatt Matts in Atlanta or Big Shanty in Kennesaw....that's the kick I'm talking about. The sides were good but to be honest, I can't remember what I had,LOL....but I remember that I liked them if that makes any difference. The staff were very friendly and the waitress was very attentive. In fact, she almost overdid it....leave me alone and let me eat my ribs!LOL. Good restaurant and worth a stop if you're in the area.

I love this restaurant. Nothing fancy to look at, but great staff and wonderful food. The brisket is cooked the right way, low and slow, until it's tender yet still juicy. The pulled pork is fabulous, moist, flavorful, and served in ample portions. The ribs, though, are where this restaurant shines. Whether you get the baby back ribs or the regular pork ribs, they are wonderful. Tender, moist, flavorful. The meat comes off the bone easily but isn't falling apart on your plate. The burgers are good, too. Try the cowboy burger, but only if you're really hungry. On top of the burger meat are slices of brisket and bacon. Decadent and delicious.

I had baby back ribs here for lunch. I thought they were a little dry, but I am by no means a Texas ribs connoisseur. The service was excellent. Decent prices..

I give this one 4 stars because it really is as good as it gets for Texas-style BBQ in Maryland, though there were a few not-so-great aspects to the meat. I read the 3-star review below this one and I think that the author is missing the point - of course its not as good as Texas BBQ, its in Maryland! I ate here for dinner with my partner and we started out with the Texas Shrimp appetizer. I am very picky about seafood and was really impressed with the shrimp - well seasoned with no fish taste at all and cooked well which resulted in a very palatable texture. I don't prefer tender or "shrimpy" shrimp and this dish was flavorful, spicy, and good. I happily ate it! I ordered a brisket sandwich and my partner had the baby back ribs. I found the brisket to be absolutely delicious, though not as moist or tender as I prefer. I used the rather unimpressive BBQ sauce to make things juicier and after I added some cole slaw to the sandwich I was chomping like a maniac. All in all, a great sandwich, but the meat was slightly dry and I needed lots of BBQ sauce to make it juicy and cole slaw to add sweetness. Its definitely worth the $7. My partners baby back ribs were fantastic. The meat was falling off of the bones and smoked so deliciously. It was hard to pull the ribs apart because the bone would come out clean - good job on those ribs! I recommend them highly. The side item of baked beans was also yummy, though the portion was rather small. I also got a pulled pork sandwich to go, which I ate the next day. What I don't like about their BBQ sandwiches is that they serve them dry and the customer has to add sauce. I think that the moistness of the meat is sacrificed when you do this - add the sauce in the kitchen, let it simmer, and you're dealing with a much stronger sandwich. All in all I recommend this place. The owner loves to attend BBQ contests and the brisket placed 14th in the world. The owner is a very nice man, walking around the restaurant and greeting all the customers. Lots of locals come in this place, you can tell the community loves the food. The prices are great, the service is fast, and I think this is a great place for casual dinners and informal celebrations.

Texas BBQ? In Maryland? Well, yes and no. Our gold standard fro BBQ is Rudy's in San Antonio (we have spent lots of time in both San Antonio and Houston and have sampled some pretty amazing BBQ). My ten-year old and I both ordered sampler number one ($13.95): dry-rubbed ribs, smoked chicken, brisket (for me) and pulled pork (him) along with beans, slaw and Texas toast. My wife got baby-back ribs with green beans and mac-n-cheese. Texas BBQ: YES. The brisket was perfect. Red ring. Great flavor. Not too dry. Easy to eat and enjoy. The ribs were meaty and flavorful. I am not sure I have ever had better ribs. The chicken was great--I Iive in New England and it is hard finding smoked chicken. The beans were very sweet but tasty. and my wife loved the mac-n-cheese! Texas BBQ: No. The pulled pork was vinegar-based. It was good, but Texas places don't usually serve pulled pork, and definitely not vinegar based, right? Overall, I think what made me happiest was meeting the manager/owner who took the time to find out how we were doing. He serves the food himself. He's lived in Port Aransas (south of San Antonio near Corpus Christi) and so he does understand Texas. It was a great value! And Texas Ribs and BBQ is near the Metro station just outside of DC just off of Highway 5. Try it!

I went here again tonight. service was good as always. food was excellent as always. I couldn't convince myself to get anything other than the pulled pork wrap I had last time. was just as good this time. Love the mild sauce on the table. they also have a sweet sauce if you request it. bf had the baby back ribs. excellent. the manager was raving about the sweet potato cheesecake. We got it. It was yummy but interesting. i expected it to be a cheesecake that had sweet potatoes bake in the mix... but it was a sweet potato pie with a layer of cheese cake baked on top. still tasty. the only bad things I can say about this place is- parking is in short supply and I wish they could find a way to have more of it.... and I would love to see a huge two person share combo platter on the menu so you could go and try a little bit of everything in one sitting.... other than that, defiantly worth the 45 minute one way drive for bbq and I will be back (that's not a threat it's a promise!)

The reviews are spot on. This place is the TRUTH. The food and service were excellent. My sister, daughter and I got the chicken breast, ribs and Caesar salad. It was all good. This place should be on Diners, Dives and Drive Ins.

Horrible service and won't substitute anything on the menu even though its the same price. Customer is not #1 here. The waitress blamed it on the management.

Good food! Cheap prices! Highly recommend this place for good service, good food at a good price! Pulled pork sandwich w/ fries for $8 bucks - can't beat it! This restaurant was featured on "Food Network" a few years back! Oh, and every now and again they will have a "crab cake" special, not the best but pretty good!

Enjoyed delicious food! The beans are the best!! Delicious brisket too! The atmosphere is very relaxed, but the patrons were very interesting. One loud drunk women spent her time preaching to the restaurant about how God is a woman :) and arguing very loudly about her various conspiracy theories.

Yup - it's what you think it is after reading the reviews - great homestyle BBQ Ribs in a somewhat kitschy place that, despite being just a few miles from the beltway, feels much more rural. Come for the BBQ and a brew (nothing fancy) and you'll be happy. Don't expect too much from side dishes, like green beans that are pulled directly from a can, or soups, which don't really taste very homemade. One big lunch meal can easily feed two people.

Having lived in Texas for a while, this place can't compete with anything down there.. Had the brisket which wasn't tasty and heavily salted. The sauces are poor and dissapointing. My co-worker had a ribs platter, which he thought was average. He thought the ribs weren't tender enough. This place seems to have a lot of regulars and was jam packed during lunch. Nothing special here in my opinion.

Very disappointed. I was in the area and I love BBQ, looking forward to this place from the other glowing reviews. Maybe it was just not their day or the pit master was lazy this morning and served yesterdays food. I had a half rack of the baby back ribs and the brisket. The other reviews of these items were good and the server recommended. The brisket had smoke ring and a bit of flavor but was dry, had to smother it in their hot sauce. It was likely left over from the day before and microwaved. The ribs were not smoked. Oven or boiled, somewhat rubbery and dry, again probably microwaved because they came out extremely hot, not a hint of smoke or very much other flavor either and the sauce was not caramelized. Definitely did not pull easily from the bone. Smothered those in the hot sauce also. I left half on the plate, not worth finishing. The hot sauce was good, could have been hotter but it was good as were the beans. I visited at noon on a Wednesday and the place was packed. Hopefully the others got fresher cuts and ribs. Will not return.

I'm, not a huge BBQ fan, so I don't have much to compare it to, but I really do like the brisket here. Husband got a sampler platter that was on special, and didn't have much bad to say about it- ribs, brisket, sausage, etc, and he slathered different sauces on all of it and was a pretty happy camper. If you're like me, and not really into BBQ, they have plenty of other options to fall back on, service is good and homey, I always like a place with rootbeer on tap, and they are also very kid-friendly. We'll be back.

hands down my favorite place for brisket outside of Texas. no, its NOT texas brisket, but it's pretty darn close and i really don't feel like driving 20 hours just to score brisket for lunch, so I've made my peace with Texas Ribs. We like this place-been coming here about 4 years since my husband was first stationed at Andrews. Wait staff is always friendly and efficient and when its slow they even stop and chat with you. Very reasonable prices...and this isn't a place you will walk out of hungry, by any means. Not the fanciest joint, but hey-aren't you there for the 'que?

If you are at Andrews AFB this is a must do. Great food and great service! In fact we called from the flightline after we landed, which was late, to see if the restaurant was still open. The owner was nice enough to keep it open just for us. The owner looked like Santa Claus.

One of my favorites in Clinton. Great food, great service, very personable. You can't miss with this place. We are regulars. Never had a bad meal. Now get this--try the Catfish Platter. I know you say at a Rib place? Yes, if you like fish try it you will like it. Also, on certain nights--you have to check before ordering. They make Reuben's that are so big it is ridiculous. They are the best. For a a change of pace with your sides, ask for the Baked Sweet Potato. It is huge and they give you all the fixings for it. We always bring food home--enough for lunch or dinner the next day. Oh, also try the Texas Spaghetti (I think that's right) anyway they will know what you mean. Great Manager on duty. This place travels to Bar B Q championships and they win!

Best barbecue in the area. I am a Memphis BBQ person, so I went in a little suspect. However, from the owner to the ribs to the pulled pork, they got it right. They smoke with Oak, which was a bit unusual, but it was perfect. A hike from DC (30 min from downtown without traffic) but worth it.

I am simply a sucker for good barbecue. And since moving to Maryland there's only one place I've been told to try, so when the g/f said tonight she wanted to go to Texas Ribs & BBQ for dinner, I didn't balk at the 45 minute drive. First, while all the open tables were dirty (some with a wet rag laying on top of them), it was clear they'd been pretty busy, and the owner greeted us, told us to pick a table, and then wiped it down for us, which for me at least made up for it. Between the two of us we got a pulled pork wrap with fries and slaw; a half rack of babyback ribs with baked beans, slaw, and texas toast; a side of sausage; and a slice of sweet potato cheesecake for dessert. The ribs were cooked perfectly. When the meat is falling off the bone before you can get it to your mouth; they've done a good job. Super tender, and the sauce was just right. I could still taste the dry rub, and the sauce was an accent and not overpowering. The beans were delicious, the toast was toast, and the coleslaw was pretty good too. Girlfriend loves the "Carolina Wrap", which came dry but went well with their sweet sauce. Also important to note: because they served the meat dry, you could tell they didn't overcook the pork like some places are wont to do. It was still tasty by itself, though the sauce made it even better. The sausage was also well done, and the owner made a point of letting us know that they don't let it sit for long after cooking, and if it does it ends up going into the beans anyway, which is good to know. The sweet potato cheesecake was really just a layer of cheesecake on top of a sweet potato pie...but it still tasted damn good. Overall, I will likely be making the trek back out every time my barbecue craving needs sating. Really loved it.

I was craving some good Bar B Q and found this place on Yelp and it was only a mile away from my house! When we arrived we were immediately greeted and seated. Service was great and they even had peanuts at the table to snack on while you waited for the waitress. We ordered out food and had it back to us in 15 minutes or less. Everything tasted great, but there was a little too much meat on the brisket sandwich I ordered. They also don't serve the pulled pork or brisket sandwich with any sauce on them so you have to put it on yourself. The sauce is at the table already and is hot or mild. The hot isn't very hot at all so don't worry. The only reason I didn't give this a 5 star review was because when I left the restaurant and got home I had bubble guts and other things... I know my symptoms came from here because it was the only food I had eaten all day. Hopefully you don't have the same problems I did. Please don't think this is a negative review, food was excellent and I will return!

Can't say enough good things about this BBQ joint. The food is top-notch, and I've never seen a place as clean as they keep this one....that means a lot to me, as most BBQ joints I've eaten at can't say the same. The waitstaff and managers are efficient and friendly, and are never too busy to stop and ask how you're doing. The food here is of a superb quality and they take great pains to assure that you're satisfied. I give this friendly, down home BBQ joint 5 stars!

Went here today after reading reviews on Yelp. We had two of the combo platters w/ribs, chicken and brisket and our son had the pulled pork side dish with an appetizer of onion rings. I will have to say that I enjoyed everything on the table. My favorite of all was the brisket, however the chicken was as tender as it gets. All of the food had a subtle smoky flavor and came with baked beans(okay) and potato salad(a little plain) and toast, however we do not go to a BBQ place for sides, it doesn't even equal into the equation but the onion rings were pretty good. Also what can I say about the sweet tea, YUM!!! First time ever in MD, VA or DC that I can say that. Please do not leave this place without trying the sweet sauce, it enhanced every meat at our table and we loved it so much that we bought a jar to use at home. Our waitress Laura was extremely quick and remembered everything we asked for while also being courteous. Next time I will get a brisket and chicken platter and opt for another side rather than the potato salad. All in all great food and service for the money I will recommend and go again myself very soon.
