So far every review was spot on. We only stopped on our way back from DC but we were very happy. Good food, great prices and even better service. I envy the locals.

The food here is out of this world! They have amazing service too- the moment we sat down, a server approached with tortilla chips and salsa. And the prices are so reasonable- it doesn't match the great quality. I love this place. Try their tostaguac- it's different and good. I love their tacos and mmm their fried iced-cream!

Best Mexican in town, hands down. Sometimes you just need a big hot plate of cheese and rice, and this is the place to get it. And even better that it's a rehabilitated Wendy's, with the big glass bubble. Last time I was there they had a smoking section (!). Is that legal? The taquitos are to die for--they must roast their own chickens. Order the Jalisco Especial and try all the house favorites. Incredibly cheap for the quality of the food, and even more so for lunch. Worth driving to Brooklyn (it's not quite Glen Burnie).

This place is the worst. Crowded. Dirty bathrooms - one sink didn't work and the bathroom stall door doesn't lock. Nice. Where is the health department? I sent two meals back because they weren't at all what I asked for. No onions - the food came smothered in them and the second had steak that wasn't edible. Must have been the part of the cow that went over the fence last. Don't recommend at all!

The best Mexican food in the Baltimore Metro area. The cheese that is used to smother burritos, enchiladas, and tacos is extremely addictive. The waitstaff are courteous and attentive. They also have a wide selection of Latin American/Caribbean bottled beer and magaritas, yum!

Since moving to Glen Burnie, El Salto has by far been my favorite and most visited restaurant in the area. From the service to the food to the prices, El Salto is defiantly one of the best places to eat in the Glen Burnie area. Getting a table is not a problem, no matter what time you go. The service is always good with waiters and waitresses bringing out the food in a timely manner and chips and salsa coming to your table as soon as you sit down. If you are a fan of Mexican food, then El Salto is a place you must visit. I defiantly recommend the queso con chorizo dip to start with and I always get it when I go. As far as main courses go, anything you order will be very tasty and a very good size portion. My favorite is the enchiladas supremas which is four different enchiladas. I can pretty much recommend any dish they serve because is on the money. As far as price goes, you can go with a party of three and leave with a $30 bill. If you live in the Glen Burnie area or love Mexican food then I absolutely recommend El Salto!

If im "home" and craving some Mexican cuisine but don not want to fully drive to Baltimore to go to Nacho Mamas or want to avoid the Disneyland style wait time. Ill do Some El Salto, 2 locations one in Towson and the other in Brooklyn Park. Traditional style Mexican food, soccer on all the TV's (DUH!) and some of the best waitstaff anywhere. The chips are always fresh, free and plentiful. The food is extremely cheap, but delicious. I have had many, many meals in El Salto and have really developed my Pallet here. The Waiters even put up with my wishy-washy Spanish! I forgot my Paycheck on the table after my last meal in El Salto thankfully I realized this before I traveled to far to go back, I called and made sure it was there and sure enough they had it safe and sound! thats a rare thing at most places, more so in Brooklyn Park!

best service ever!...my special order was perfect...very friendly, never needed to ask for a refill on my soda...very nice to my 6 yo son...

  • Mandy S.

Love me some El Salto's!!! I've never had a bad meal there, and I crave their chili relleno's! The price is right, and even though the location could be a little better, you really can't beat it for real mexican food

Very good place, a nice in between truly authentic Mexican places and the more Americanized ones. A lot of people seem to complain about the decor, but to me it's perfect and has an authentically Mexican (i.e. a little bit rough) feel. Great place to kick back with a few friends to have a meal and some coronas, modelos, or margaritas.

  • Dixon M.

El Salto is good. Not fantastic, but pretty good (especially for the East Coast). The prices are pretty reasonable, and the service is good. One interesting thing: when I arrived at El Salto with a friend, the waiter presented us with a basket of freshly made chips accompanied with a bowl of flavorless salsa. I asked, in Spanish, if he had a spicier salsa. He said he did, and returned with a bowl of fabulous fire-roasted salsa. I have realized that this is true of many East Coast Mexican restaurants. If you are anglo, they assume you can't tolerate any spice. If you ask politely, many restaurants will bring out the "good stuff." (This is my subjective opinion.) The magic words? "¿Tienes una salsa mas picante?"

  • Michael G.

My favorite mexican food place with their big margaritas and queso cheese dip. I tryed many other places this is my mexican place when I am hungry!

  • Kellie M.

Wow!!! This was really good. I have been looking for an authentic Mexican food place since I moved here from the south. This place is the real deal. Starting with great service and good prices to awesome food. They got it all. Highly recommend!!! We will return often.

  • Farra W.

I've been looking for a good "fake Mexican" restaurant since I moved here, because I like my Mexican food to include ground beef, cheese, and flour tortillas, and apparently, that's hard to find. I'm not talking about chain places or Tex Mex, but the kind of restaurants that claim to be authentic Mexican but that serve stuff that you don't tend to see Mexican people eating - like cheese dip. I think El Salto is my place! I don't care whether it's "authentic" or "fake", because it's good. The staff wasn't super friendly or attentive, but the food came out quickly, we didn't run out of drinks or chips or anything, and our orders were correct and really good, so I don't care. Next time I need some cheese dip or ground beef and cheese in a flour tortilla, this will definitely be the place I go!

  • Gary S.

Delicious and consistent food. The service is generally good. The prices and portions are outstanding.

    (4)
  • Mary H.

Once you go you will never turn back. The food and service are great and the margaritas are delishes. I love the taco salad and chips with cheese dip.

    (5)
  • Tony C.

The chips and salsa were authentic, plentiful and yummy. Service outstanding. The prices and the amount of food you get on your plate awesome. Don't let the outside fool you and you must get past the appearance of the place in a past life being some sort of fast food restaurant. The food here is legit and fresh.

    (4)
  • Rocko L.

Great place, nothing super fancy. The menu is helpful when you're not familiar with certain Mexican foods. Margaritas are big! Food is authentic since it's made by real Mexicans. Great prices on food very affordable!

  • Carina d.

This is a great spot for a group lunch outing and could be a very inexpensive dinner too. Our complimentary chips arrived crispy and hot with salsa. I asked for a bottle of Cholula hot sauce to kick up the spice. Combo lunch specials range from $5.95 to $8.95, whereas the dinner combos can be as low as $8. You'll find solid Mexican food akin to Chevy's or On the Border restaurants -- and be getting a good deal -- but nothing with a real 'wow' factor.

    (3)
  • Rafael C.

The service is friendly and the restaurant has that family feel. You feel like you're visiting a friend's place. Like I said before nachos, fajitas and a pitcher of beer for under $40.00. Excellent!

  • Emily L.

I'm going to be a little bit biased, in part because I loved coming to El Salto as a kid, but sadly stopped going after my aunt stopped working nearby. I came back here recently with the boyfriend. It has not changed a bit. The food is still the same great food and the service is still pretty good. I love El Salto's cheese and crave it so much sometimes. I don't exactly know what kind of cheese it is, but it is one of the best cheeses I've ever had. My personal favorite is the Enchilada platter that comes with a bean enchilada, a beef enchilada, a chicken enchilada, and a cheese enchilada. You get the best of all the different worlds and it isn't so filling that you have to be rolled out of the place.

  • Margo V.

Best Mexican food we have had since moving from New Mexico last year! Lunch fajitas were delish - plus they had our favorite - the Mexican shrimp cocktail. Great salsa & chips, and friendly service. We will be back!

On Saturday, June 27, 2015, I drove several miles for a business meeting at this venue on a Saturday. The venue wasn't open @ the time displayed nor did it open hours after the time. Several potential customer's were waiting outside They were telling me how good the food and service was and I wanted to see for myself. There were four staff members waiting to get in as well. My first thoughts were something was wrong and I needed to get far away from this venue. Reading the reviews they ranged from 3-5 stars depending on your experience. Well, Mine started out as a 1 star and I gave it 2 stars bases on conversations with the staff and customer's waiting to get in. Looking back at my visit it was probably best I didn't get inside as i'm sure the time to prepare fresh food would cause a longer wait. How many Chips and Salsa can you snack on when waiting for Authentic Mexican? I will come another time and I'm sure I will be looking further into this venue. My first opinion is mismanagement and poor advertisement!

    (2)
  • Stephanie M.

Good food, good service. Place was packed the entire time we were there, yet no one appeared to have to wait long for a seat. Salsa could be more flavorful, but other than that it was a great meal.

  • Angel E.

It's conveniently located: if you go on the website menu I ordered #20 and taco salad 3 stars only because it taste like any other Mexican place nothing really pops but I did take it to go... This is what I wanted for dinner so I got what I wanted and I'll most likely order again if I want something close but I like Chevy's or Plaza Garibaldi (across from Marley station mall) better. They do not deliver only dine in & take out

  • Courtney C.

Fajitas for the win. Come on people. Low price, huge portions, delicious food. Stop being a snob and go get some grub.

  • Brian M.

I would say 3.5 stars, but I enjoy this place more than most mexican restaurants that I have tried, so I gave 4 stars. The service is always great. The chips and salsa are unfortunately not the best. The food seems to be seasoned more aggressively than other mexican joints in the area. Take out is done very well at this restaurant. I think this is a good dining choice if you are in the area.

  • Sam S.

I have been eating here for almost 10 years. Definitely some good food here. If I want authentic Mexican cuisine I come here because this is as authentic as it gets around here. They have great specials, and the food is always very nicely seasoned. The staff are really nice and helpful. Also: free chips. Gotta love free chips.

  • John D.

El Salto seemed to be slipping to me in both quality and quanity. the chile relleno was still top notch but most everything else seemed off. the complimentary salsa which came with the chips tasted like ketchup with jalapeno juice mixed in. the guacamole was too whipped and rather tasteless. my fajitas came piping hot but was too greasy. i had far more onions and peppers in relationship to the beef chicken and shrimp than on previous visits when i got the fajitas. Margi got a combo platter which had the before mentioned relleno, a beef taco, and a beef enchilada, she was not overly impressed. we would go back and give them another try, hopefully this was an off night

For Mexican food tempered to American expectations, this is the place to go. There are little bursts of authenticity (the chorizo is killer, the beans are oh so lardacious, and you have to ask for the real salsas), but it's mostly very well-executed What Americans Expect Mexican Food To Be. And you know, most of the time that hits the spot. I generally order combos with chicken instead of ground beef, as it's ridiculously moist and stewed with onions and peppers. The cheese is really melty and good, especially queso con chorizo. The chicken tacos are heaven. You never leave El Salto hungry, and the same people have been working here for as long as I've been coming here (8 years). Carry-out is fast and generously portioned. I wish it were closer to the city, but evidently I'm still more than willing to drive to Brooklyn for a fix!

I can't understand the high ratings. Maybe this area is more depraved for Mexican food than I thought!! The waiters were extremely slow. It takes a while to make the food (which they warn is standard for Mexican food), but my complaint is that I got my food before I got a refill on my drink. I asked for two tacos with chicken and had to repeat that little bit. The chicken was bland and salty. My husband got some combo and he said he's had better. And if you hate your friends, ask them to come for your birthday. The "mariachis" were God awful. They don't know how to play guitar; they just strummed an untuned guitar. The singing was just as off-tune. The restaurant is cramped. I'm sticking with Dancing Pepper.

I went last night with my husband and we shared the "For Two" dinner, it was so much food and delicious! I was thinking I would not have left overs since I was sharing with my husband but we did! It included 2 tacos, a burrito, a tamale, 2 fried peper, enchilada and rice and beans! It was authentic and we will be back soon! They also make their own sauces, a green sauce and a red sauce, full of spices. Delish!

Let's get this out of the way right away: My name is Steph, and I'm addicted to El Salto. My family and I have been frequenting El Salto since I was in high school (1990's). We have NEVER been disappointed by a meal here. We've brought family members and friends over the years and everyone has become a fan. You can have two people or a large party and El Salto can and will gladly have you. As you sit down (you seat yourself) a friendly waiter brings you tortilla chips (that are often warm!) and a yummy salsa. You can ask for spicy if you want. Please listen to me: You owe it to yourself to order their cheese dip. It's something like $2.50 or so and an overflowing dish of oozy white cheese dip. It is HEAVENLY. They have a pretty big menu- from combinations to ala carte to regular dinner platters. They have a small vegetarian section as well as a kids menu. Specials are written on boards as you walk in. The food, oh the food. It's sooo good and you get a lot of it. Let's get something straight- it's not fine dining, so it's not fancy. It's simple and straight forward. I know they have won many reader polls for best chili rellenos and have received many glowing reviews. They have a "beer of the month", pretty good magaritas and yummy Mexican sodas (mmm Jarritos). What's the best thing about El Salto? By far, the PRICES. It's CRAZY cheap. Not inexpensive, but CHEAP! It's crazy how little money you spend when you come here, even if you add gaucomole or a dessert (which are sooo good). The service is GREAT. Even when they're really busy, you rarely have to wait a while for a waiter to appear. True, there is a language barrier but it all works out. Do yourself a favor and give El Salto a try- you WILL NOT be disappointed!

I can't disagree with anything I've read about this place. Except perhaps the handful of negative reviews. I tried El Salto based on the Yelp reviews and was not at all disappointed. The restaurant is your standard strip-mall restaurant: slightly run-down, booths along the edges of the restaurant, tables in the center and at least one TV that I saw. I walked in, was told to sit anywhere and almost as soon as I sat down I was brought chips and salsa (before my menu, even). They were quite tasty, and I didn't stop eating them until my food arrived. They offer a good selection of Mexican dishes, including your usual assortment of combination plates. Note that the combination plates only include what they say, so if you want rice and beans, be sure to order a plate that includes them (or get them as a side). I ordered the beef enchilada, chili relleno, rice and beans combination. The portion was generous. There was a combination plate that also included a taco, but I think that would have been too much for me. As was, I didn't have room for dessert after the chips and entree. Everything was delicious. And cheap! I've found most of the restaurants in the area to be overpriced for what you get. El Salto was a pleasant surprise in that area. Go, eat, then show them some love on Yelp when you're done.

They're very good for around here, not always consistent, but always good. For the price you'll not find better Mexican in this area. We've been there perhaps a dozen times over the past couple of years. Service is generally good and very quick. I like the Jaslisco Especiales here.

  • Kristen D.

We were promptly greeted and seated for lunch. I got the lunch fajitas with chicken, steak and shrimp and a sangrita. My friend ordered the taco salad and a strawberry margarita. The salsa is tasty but could be thicker. Our food was delicious and our server was attentive. Our bill was only about $30 for all our food and drinks. Not a bad deal. Will definitely come back the food is cheap and tastes good.

I came here for my friend's birthday and the restaurant was able to accommodate our large group of 18 people. They arranged three tables together length wise and added a booth at the end. The chips and salsa were not impressive at all. My friends and I all enjoy spicy food so when we asked for some hot salsa from our waiter all we received was a green dip that was more sour than anything else. However, the wait staff was pretty attentive with taking orders and refilling drinks. Their menu comes with many options; most of it is the regular tex-mex type that you find in chain restaurants (tacos, chimichangas, burritos, enchiladas, etc). They also have an extensive "combo" list where you can mix and match items such as 1 burrito and 2 tacos or 1 taco and 2 enchiladas. I ordered the fajita quesadilla which came with rice, cheese, shrimp, steak, chicken, peppers, and onions. When the food arrived it looked more like a gigantic chalupa from Taco Bell than a quesadilla. The tortilla was thick and crispy and not in that circular shape that I'm used to seeing from a quesadilla. The taste however was pretty good; the shrimp a little bland but the chicken and steak had some nice flavor. As I mentioned before, I enjoy spicy food and my dish was lacking any real spices so I did have to douse some habanero sauce on top. Overall my experience was okay, nothing THAT bad, besides the salsa, and nothing THAT great either. My friends said that all their entrees came out decent as well. Finally when it came time to wish my friend happy birthday, the staff came out with a sombrero and guitar and started singing to him and even made the birthday boy wear the sombrero for the rest of the time we spent there, which I thought was a nice touch.

I love El Salto. The staff is awesome, the ambiance is homey, the food is on point, and the prices are amazing. Everything I have ever tried on the menu is well made and tastes good too. My only complaint? and cost a star? There is nothing really spicy. I love good flavors but sometimes you need that burn. The Margaritas are big and also well made, they are also cheap!! So.... Good Food? check Good Drinks? check Good Prices? check well? go eat

  • Emily L.

This place was pretty good, not authentic from what i experienced. They had good service and the mechelada was good but Ive definitely had better Mexican food. My husband got the Philly cheese steak tacos and they were really good i wish i would have got those instead of my enchiladas.

  • Rick C.

Great food, awesome service and reasonable prices. I and many of my colleagues from work have been coming here for years. Everything has been tasty. Even people from the west coast have been satisfied with the food here. Note that if you are strictly vegetarian their offerings might be cooked in lard.

Until I went to San Diego for the first time in 2005, I never had real mexican food. Being from the East Coast, until Chipotle came along, the best we had was Taco Bell. Of course after traveling into Mexico as far as Ensenada, I really got to taste some great food that I just didn't know existed. So back to the East Coast and Baltimore. Sure, I can go to DC for some really expensive restaurants that mimic the Mexican flavor, but that is the problem. Too much money for simple foods. And then you have El Salto in Brooklyn. The closest thing I have found to what I ate and experienced on the West Coast to date. They have traditional favorites mostly and not what I really crave...fish tacos. But hey, I will take what I can get. For being local, on what some would say is the wrong side of town, and truly unique to the area, you cannot go wrong with El Salto I recommend the fajita quesadilla too!

  • Matt F.

I've been to El Salto twice, and come away less than impressed both times. The service has been decent to moderate at best. The food, well, I think I could munch on wet cardboard that has more flavor than the entrees I've been fortunate (or unfortunate) enough to try. The chips and salsa - tasteless. The queso dip was the only saving grace for them. Fried Chimichangas - Burnt on the ends, minimal taste for the beef inside. The best part about them was the Queso Sauce that they cover them with. Refried Beans - Ughh.. again, saved by extra queso. Sopapilla - in most places I have been, this is some kind of fluffed pastry. Here, it's a toasted tortilla.. crispy, not flaky. Ohhh, add to that being approached by a panhandler upon leaving, well, I think you get the gist. The saving grace is the staff is decent, they had no problems with our group (11) or orders, and the decor is nice. The staff got them the extra star, The food itself was a 1 star experience.

Fast, tasty, friendly and best Mexican food in town. When you're in the mood for straight up delicious Mexican, go here. We drive from Hampden to get here, and it's worth every second. The staff is by far the most accommodating and friendly of any place I've been.

I'm 9 1/2 Months Pregnant, Craving Mexican food..This Place Was Delicious. I Ordered The Enchilada With BeanS And Rice. Loved The Portions! My Husband Ordered The Burrito, Chile Rellenos, And Tamale PLate. The Tamale Was Spicy (But Good) Loved The Burrito And By Far The Chile RellenOs Was My Favorite! The Staff Was Very Friendly Too. We Will Back!

I have been to many Mexican restaurants and a lot of them were horrible. However, this place is on point. I would suggest this place to anyone in the area looking for a good decently priced meal. You get your money's worth with any of the meals in my opinion, with great choice platers at less than $10. The cheesesteak platter is definitely my favorite . Will definitely be back!

Not bad! I think I'm more nostalgic with this place but who cares. The food is tasty, portions are big, and the staff is nice. Not a bad place to check out.

If you are looking for decent Mexican food that buys from the same vendor that all other decent Mexican food restaurants get their food from, then this is the place to go. Not that it's bad, but I have eaten this same exact food in nearly every town I've visited. I love Mexican, I am a MexiCAN, but I'm giving this place 3 stars for lacking originality.

We stopped in after a show at the Chesapeake Arts Center and could not believe how welcoming the staff was here. The food is delicious and we will definitely be back! I highly recommended stopping in if you want a great meal!

I like my Mexican food like I like my women - cheap, spicy, with a side of margaritas. So basically, El Salto is my perfect lady. Anywhere that I can get a burrito and taco and a margarita the size of my head, all for under $15, is a place I need to visit again. Service was a bit lacking, but it was a Friday night and they were fairly busy. Not much else to say, but there isn't much more to the place. If you're looking for good Mexican food that's as good as any 100-dollar hooker, try El Salto.

Worst "Mexican" Restaurant ever! We had high hopes after reading the reviews, and seeing the packed parking lot. Margarita was served in a milkshake-type glass? Ok, I still gave it a chance - and it tasted awful! Way too sweet. Tasted like all sweet and sour mix. Really El Salto? Worst margarita I have ever had. Ordered the carne asada, medium rare. It came out Well Done. I don't think she even listened to how I wanted it cooked? Awful! Horrible! I was so disapointed. I can't say enough about how bad the food was. The server was very rude and unattentive as well, to top it off. If you like good Mexican food, avoid this place at all costs! I am still on the hunt for a good Mexican restaurant in the Baltimore area..

my favorite place to get a quick bite for takeout, but also a nice place to sit and eat. I have been going here for over 5 yrs and they have never done me wrong. I am a vegetarian so I can be kind of picky but they have a veg. portion in their menu which is extremely convient for me, and a definitions of mexican food, which is also perfect for someone who doesnt know any spanish. The meal comes with chips and salsa which is nice, the cheese dip is def worth the extra 2 bucks. I LOVE THIS PLACE :)

I can't understand why this place gets so many great reviews. The guacamole is not homemade, it has that fake plastic taste, like Spread has to Butter. The Salsa taste like ketchup with hot Sauce in it. I just had to rate this place to bring the avg rating down. Just go to chipotle, spend less money, get home made salsa, and guacamole.

I didn't think anyone really knew about this place. I decided to write this review to help people like Yelper Lauren T. who was looking for white queso here in the DC area. Look no further people, they have the white cheese here. The food is here tasty and cheap, but the ambiance is no frills. The smoking section is separated from the non by just a wooden lattice, their menus have dried salsa stuck to them, and you'll find some holes in the booth pleather, but who cares when you're getting your Mexican munch on? We didn't. A dish that hubby and I got addicted to here and ordered several times is really one that we made up. We ordered the chicken nachos, took all the chicken meat and the yummy white queso goodness and put it on the flour tortillas we ordered. We also got some sides of lettuce, tomato, rice and refried beans and just made tasty tacos out of them. After all was said and done, we had paid about $14 for the meal. For the queso lovers, go ahead and order that extra side of queso so you can drench your taco in runny, lactose yumminess. Btw, El Salto means "Jump". Jump for joy? Jump for great Mexican food? Jump off the roof after getting all liquored up on margaritas? Literally, just "The Jump". I wonder....

A big shout out to Yelp. We do not normally get over to this part of Baltimore, but had a performance to attend at the Chesapeake Arts Center and were looking for something good and convenient. We tried Salto based on the reviews and were very pleased. This is authentic Mexican food with traditional dishes at a very good price. The queso, which was highly recommended, was outstanding. They offer a multitude of combos and several in our group were very pleased with the enchilada, chili relleno and tamale combo. Not many places prepare either tamales or chili rellenos well, but Salto does both. I tried the chicken grill burrito which was very flavorful, perfectly grilled and very plentiful. Salto provided a terrific authentic Mexican dinner at a very reasonable price.

A lot of friends talked this place up, I was less than impressed. My favorite part of the dinner was the salsa that came out with the chips. I felt the food was bland, missing something. I have definitely had better. Restaurant seemed somewhat dated and un-clean. Maybe if I go back I will try other items off the menu that will change my review here but I honestly don't think I have any reason to. I can make better Mexican food at home...

I've visited a lot of restaurants around the city and I've been in a few Mexican ones too. The service is fast and always with a smile, they keep my iced tea full and the portions are generous and reasonably priced. Love the Jalisco Special, and Yolanda's amazing (wish they weren't just a special). And, top it off with a peach margarita!!

Best "authentic" mexican restaurant in Baltimore. (I prefer the authentic flavors to the Americanized "Tex-Mex" that you get at the chain restaurants like Don Pablo's and Chevy's.) I've been a loyal customer of El Salto for several years and I'm happy to have introduced many new initiates to this excellent and affordable "five star dive" Please be aware that this is NOT a fancy restaurant... but the food is top notch. I especially like the Tacos de Carne Asada or the Tacos El Salto. (The latter is the same as the former, with chorizo sausage added.)

If you're craving cheesy Americanized "Mexican", this is the place for you. The standard tacos, enchiladas, etc. are pretty good, but the chori pollo is freakin' delicious. I don't even order it anymore because I know I will eat every bite and pay the price later. I have never had bad service here.

I love this place! Moved to Baltimore 7 years ago and have desperately missed authentic Mexican food. One day I was driving past and begged my boyfriend to stop and give them a try. I was so happy we did, finally a place that has real Mexican cheese (my test for Mexican food)! I live right in the city, but drive 20 mins to eat here when my Mexican cravings get out of control. Yum!!

Good food, but not the best in the area (try La Tolteca!). The prices are good and the portions are decent. The also have daily specials on drinks and their sangria is pretty good. It's kind of plain inside and they could definitely use an update.

Great place for cheap, good Mexican food. They have a very large menu with an almost overwhelming amount of choices, and when you're hungry it can be pretty daunting, but whatever you choose you won't be disappointed. On my most recent visit I had the Tacos de Carnitas. I received three piping hot soft tacos overflowing with tender chunks of roasted pork. The pork on its own is just, well, pork, but when you add the special spicy sauce and fresh pico de gallo they become something really special. And of course, they have awesome margaritas and efficient, friendly service. Always worth a stop when I'm in the area.

I know Baltimore is severly lacking in Mexican joints, but how this is highly rated is beyond me. Service was abismal, and choices were limiting, and quality was poor. The standard watery refried beans, canned soupy salsa, and industrial grade chips. This place is listed as "authentic" which is not fair to honest cooking.

  • Stephanie B.

Lackluster at best. Perhaps I was just expecting more from all the enthusiastic yelps on here, but being from Texas I was very disappointed. The guacamole was like the goo you buy in the dip section of your local grocery store. How hard is it really to make fresh guac? I got a margarita, which I think tasted fine, but the rim wasn't salted, and I didn't get a choice between on-the-rocks or frozen. Apparently they only came frozen... All of our entrees get a big "MEH" on the taste factor too. All in all... it was edible... but I wouldn't go back.

The chips and salsa were authentic, plentiful and yummy. Service outstanding. The prices and the amount of food you get on your plate awesome. Don't let the outside fool you and you must get past the appearance of the place in a past life being some sort of fast food restaurant. The food here is legit and fresh.

Great place, nothing super fancy. The menu is helpful when you're not familiar with certain Mexican foods. Margaritas are big! Food is authentic since it's made by real Mexicans. Great prices on food very affordable!

So.... Good Food? check Good Drinks? check Good Prices? check well? go eat

This place was pretty good, not authentic from what i experienced. They had good service and the mechelada was good but Ive definitely had better Mexican food. My husband got the Philly cheese steak tacos and they were really good i wish i would have got those instead of my enchiladas.

Great food, awesome service and reasonable prices. I and many of my colleagues from work have been coming here for years. Everything has been tasty. Even people from the west coast have been satisfied with the food here. Note that if you are strictly vegetarian their offerings might be cooked in lard.

3.5 stars. Certainly an above-average restaurant of it's type (strip mall Mexican). Food was slightly inventive and just a cut above the standard fare at this type of establishment. The queso and choriso starter is a vat of melted cheese with delicious sausage floating in it and would qualify as a tasty meal in itself. Except for that dish, not worth a lengthy detour, but worth a return visit if one happens to be hungry and the neighborhood.

Good food, good service. Place was packed the entire time we were there, yet no one appeared to have to wait long for a seat. Salsa could be more flavorful, but other than that it was a great meal.

  • Rafael C.

The service is friendly and the restaurant has that family feel. You feel like you're visiting a friend's place. Like I said before nachos, fajitas and a pitcher of beer for under $40.00. Excellent!

  • Joe A.

Delish!

Yum!!

Fast, tasty, friendly and best Mexican food in town. When you're in the mood for straight up delicious Mexican, go here. We drive from Hampden to get here, and it's worth every second. The staff is by far the most accommodating and friendly of any place I've been.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
