My wife and I we love Chinese like no ones business. So I'm always on the look out to find a new spot. So I came to yelp to help my search. I saw the Asian Buffet in Annapolis Md. I was a little skeptical after reading the reviews. But I told my self you know what we have to go and check it out for our selves. So with us living right down the road I was eager to try it out. Let's just say it was less then wonderful. First off it's front face facade is less then inviting it's in a old strip mall. You go in and first thing you see is the pay counter and a water fountain then you see the massive amounts of warming bars. We got seated (where I noticed half of the place was closed for seating. They had tables and chairs but the staff wasn't seating anyone there) asked our drink order and then we looked at each other and said let's rock. So we headed up to the bar(s) you have one bar that is filled with seafood, one bar has meat(s) (mostly chicken), one has different types of soups and appetizers, one bar with sushi, one dessert bar and lastly one salad bar (with all types of salads as well as your standard grocery store salad bar as well). So my wife and I did what we always do start with soup (my wife the wonton soup and I the hot and sour soup) and apps and I grabbed a plate full of sushi. We sat down and started eating. The soup was hearty and good wasn't the very best soup we have eaten but it was still good. Though I have to say for a whole in the wall buffet I was surprised the sushi was actually very good. Then we started on the main course I tried the jalapeno chicken which was spicy and the chicken was little moist/ little dry, chicken and whole button mushrooms, spicy Chinese style green beans, and veggies(carrots, broccoli, and zucchini) and tofu in light clear sauce. My wife had Lo main, hibachi chicken, sweet and sour chicken and stuffed shrimp. She said that the sweet and sour chicken was less then desirable. But she actually went back for seconds on the Lo main and hibachi chicken. There was nothing there that was special or to write home about. Now everything we ate was lukewarm and the bar was barely stocked. It was to the point were if one person went up they would take everything that was out cause they put very very very very little of each dish out. It's like my wife said it's Friday night you would think that they would have these bars packed with food. Was it the best or close to the best Chinese buffet we have ever ate at NO not even close. Even on the way out as we were paying a "regular" that seems to go a lot was even complaining about the amount of food that was on the bar and how the price he was paying was a little much for just mostly vegetables with just a little meat. But now if you're in Annapolis and you've got a craving for Chinese food you could certainly do worse a lot worse then Asian Buffet. But however would I recommend going there from home for a nice dinner out NO I wouldn't but like I said if in the area and all else fails it's a okay place to stop off and have a plate or two. So with all the down falls that is why I have to give this place a two cause it has way more potential to be better.

Great place to get Chinese food. Every time I come here the staff are so nice and helpful. I come here once or twice every two weeks and it's always fantastic. Thumbs up

I've been to this place so so so many times and it's almost always great. The people there are so beyond friendly and the food is pretty great. Despite other reviews, I think the prices are pretty fair for the selection and it's not usually very crowded which I really love. Also, despite what others say, their hot and sour soup is really really good.

Over the past several years I have eaten here on a semi-regular basis. Sometimes the food is hot and fresh and then it is a good value. More often lately I have encountered food that looks and tastes like it has been out on the buffet for a long time. Definitely the service has really slacked off in the last 4 months or so. Even when the restaurant doesn't have a lot of guests, it can be very hard to get someone to come refill drinks or bring the check. The last time I ate there it was around 5pm and the buffet looked like the leftovers from much earlier, and I actually waved my arms trying to get the waitstaff's attention for a water refill and the check, to no avail. I actually had to stand by my table with my car keys in hand before someone finally came over. If this was just one time I'd dismiss it (as I did several times before), but this is a pattern, and one that will drive me away as a once-loyal customer.

Are you kidding me, for those who gave positive reviews this place is a dump. The main line at 5:00 PM contained all cold food that appeared to be from lunch. All the beef dishes tasted exactly the same, the chicken dishes were unrecognizable, and all fried food have the same shrimp taste to it. I'm not sure what's going on with the carbonated beverages, the water used in the carbonated beverages tasted like it came out of the toilet. And surprisingly for all that negativity the best thing about the meal was leaving the door after paying a very steep bill for nasty food. I've lived in Annapolis for over a year and now I understand why this is the first time I had ever been to this dump, homeless people wouldn't even eat this food. Buyers beware if you want some flavorless food this is your joint

As the name say for itself, this place serve mostly Chinese and Japanese food. I only been here for lunch and it's all you can eat for only $8. Not only is the price good, but also the food is decent. if you enjoy variety, this place is the place for you. But if you are looking for high quality food, this place definitely lacks that. Their sushi bar is ok but not great. Their Chinese food is average at best. However, I particular like the desert they serve. They have this yellow pie dish that looks like flan, but it doesn't taste like it. It's one of the most unique desert I ever have, and the best part about it is you can have one, two, three .... of it because it is all you can eat. Try this place out, I promise you will not be disappointed based on the price you have to pay for the buffet.

Didn't receive drinks until I asked about them (15 min after seated). Food was cold. Woman beside our table had a cockroach in her drink, she was pretty upset. Management argued with her about it until she got up and left.

Hands down best buffet in Annapolis! Great prices, great service and great food, what more could you ask for. They have an in house sushi chef refreshing the sushi section. The servers are always on top of keeping your cup full. I love this place and have been coming here for years.

$8.00 for a lunch buffet? Are you kidding? It has lots of food, desserts, veggies and sushi! The dessert table is huge! I would go there often, if I lived here. Mmmmmmm, good!

Food cold! Soups are flavorless. Green beans not good. Mei fun bland and lacking ingredients. Pretty much everything lacked flavor. Fried fish was good though. Cookies are hard as rocks! Will not go back!

Good food . Huge place, who knew ! Large selection of food. Little more taste than other places. The only thing is some of the food was a bit cold rather than hot. but the variety was amazing. and the kids loved the dessert bar and ice cream. Will definitely go back

Shopping Center is the definite problem with this place. I drive down west street on a daily basis and never even considered this place due to the shopping center. However after reading reviews below of people being surprised I decided to give it a try. and I must say I was VERY pleased with the cleanliness and food variety they offer. Price was great to. If you've been skeptical try stopping in and giving them a try. Most likely you won't be disappointed.

The place looks sketchy from the outside but is really nice inside with a large selection. Went their for lunch and it was reasonably priced. They also have a buffet to go option that is nice. Will definitely be back.

My boyfriend and I tried this place mid-January after hearing good things by word of mouth and checking out Yelp reviews and like suggested we went for lunch on a Saturday. I tend to stick to what I know I enjoy like chicken with broccoli and lo mein dishes, which were all satisfactory. My boyfriend really liked the pepper chicken and kept saying how great it was. While we were there, we looked for the infamous cookie mush but it was no where to be found sadly since we were planning on giving it a try after the great things said by fellow Yelpers. If you're looking for a great buffet and don't mind going the distance to Croftonr, try Osaka but if you want to stay in the Annapolis area and try a good buffet, go with Asian Buffet.

This is one of my favorite new places to eat at. I thought the prices were very reasonable around $7.00 for lunch and $11.00 for dinner. The food is not the best, but you definitely get your money's worth. I was shocked how good the sushi tasted. Usually buffets are not known for the best sushi, but no complaints here! Some of the other positives are: immaculate dining area, very friendly staff, and it's hardly ever crowded. One major thing I would suggest to the management would be to upgrade the dessert selection. But they can keep the Jello squares which I thought were very tasty. I could see myself becoming a regular here because of the cheap prices!

The food is fairly decent - the sushi is surprisingly okay. What bothers me is that some of the dishes are labelled so as a non-meat-eater it's inconvenient when I don't know what's meat and what's not. So, advice regarding this place: it's good as long as you don't try to eat every item that they've put out. When you're so stuffed you that you feel like you can't breathe, no food is any good.

I was in the mood for some Chinese food but the reviews on Yelp for everything around me in Annapolis were, shall we say, less than enthusiastic. I wasn't in the mood to go to a restaurant so I figured forget it I'm just gonna grab a burger, bring it back and eat in the hotel. As I was walking out the door I noticed the desk attendant at the hotel tonight was Asian. So maybe it's racial profiling, but I really don't care if it gets results, so I asked her if she had a recommendation where to get Chinese takeout. She confirmed what the Yelp reviews had given me, there's not much worthwhile in Annapolis. She said if I wanted to have Chinese, the Asian Buffet is "not bad". Not bad generally isn't the type of recommendation that would usually inspire me to go somewhere to eat but I was a little lethargic and I do enjoy destroying a buffet every so often so I figured fuck it why not. It's not like there was much going on anyway. The Asian Buffet is located in a little strip mall on West Rd. When I walked in I was reassured as there were a good number of people inside (one side of the dining area was closed, I'm assuming that's a seasonal thing) including quite a few Asians (yeah I know, racial profiling again). I was given a table and noticed 2 other things that are always questionable with Chinese buffets. First, everything looked very clean, the cooks were wearing all the proper food handling attire, even the sushi chef was wearing gloves. Second, the waitress all spoke English and more importantly looked like they were well fed. (Lets face it, many of us have been in Chinese buffets, especially in larger cities, where the staff looked like they were the victims of human trafficking. It can be tough to properly engorge when the staff looks like they're starving, regardless of how heartless you may be.) On to the food, I started off with the Hot & Sour Soup because it's one of my favorites and I had just come in from a cold December rain. It was loaded with ingredients which was nice and flavor was OK. I'd put it somewhere between OK and Good ... maybe decent? Acceptable? I'm searching for an adjective here. Essentially it wasn't the best I've ever had, not even close, but it was good enough I had a couple bowls. The majority of the rest of the food was all pretty standard and acceptable enough. Although the General Tso's was not very good, probably not even up to mall standards. The egg rolls, beef w/broccoli, garlic shrimp, boneless ribs and egg foo young were all OK, certainly nothing special though. So if you're in Annapolis and you've got a craving for Chinese food you could certainly do worse than the Asian Buffet. However, I wouldn't recommend going out of your way to go there either. It's kind of hard to give a solid rating, I'm used to getting Asian cuisine in cities that have places named Chinatown, Little Hanoi, Little Tokyo, etc. and based on the law of probability they're just more likely to have better places for the food. I've had better, but with the limited options here I'm going to give it 3-stars.

This was a surprise! I originally had avoided this place because the strip mall it's in is a bit...sketchy/trashy. BUT, don't judge a book by its cover. I decided one day to give it a try, and it turned out to be the best deal and Chinese food in the area. The place is spacious, clean, and there are lots of fresh selections. I will definitely be going back!

We really enjoy eating here. It isn't huge like Tappanyaki in Glen Burnie, but the food isn't as mediocre either. All the flavors here are really good. I don't care for sushi, but Hubby loves it & says that this is some of the best ever in a buffet. The staff goes out of it's way to please you too. This place has only been open less than a year & sadly has not built up enough of a clientele to keep the buffet overflowing. Sometimes they don't refill things often enough, but all you have to do is ask & within minutes they whisk out of the kitchen with your request. We eat here at least once a week & have found it very consistent, which to me is VERY important. Also it is always clean. Give it a try & see for yourself.

As the foursquare mayor I think I know a little something about this humble little buffet. It is a popular lunch option for me and my coworkers. Beware the jalapeno chicken is indeed kickin...in a good way! Not your style? What about honey chicken or bbq chicken, or some other chicken! Anti-chicken? What about some plantains or the world famous cooke mush! They have little bite sized pies for jeebus sake! Not sure what else you'd want in an asian buffet thats $6.99 for all you can eat lunch.

Plenty of food, clean and friendly staff. They seem to maintain the place and tables clean and well organized. Very close to downtown Annapolis and Rt 50 so convenient if you are in the area. The food seemed to be freshly prepared.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
