I have been here three times. Stick with the burgers and sandwiches to play it safe as the other items are so-so (like the salads). With that being said, it's a perfect hole-in-the-wall stop for cheap grub in the Annapolis harbor. I just could not bring myself to give it a full five stars as the service has not been impressive.

Small and unimpressive looking, this restaurant puts out tasty hearty food. The chick n 'apple sandwich was very good and fresh flavored. The crab fries also got a thumbs up from all four at our table. Also getting a nod was the portobello sandwich. Overall, four thumbs up.

This is your hole in the wall bar right here. $5 cover on a Friday night but it's worth the BOGO free deal. And the red bull and vodka? Full size pint glasses. Amazing. The bartenders are nice and they have the bar menu available even at 9:30pm for those who didn't catch dinner yet or need a snack. Good times and great music. Just try not to stand under the bucket that's catching the a/c drips. There's dollar bills taped to it. Not sure what that's all about.

After a long day of shopping a friend of mine and I decided to walk around downtown Annapolis to look for a place to stop for lunch. After checking out a few of the local menus we decided upon Armadillos. It looks a little dive bar ish when you first step in and you feel a little out of place as there is no hostess stand and you have to wait to be seated if you want a table. The only reason this review is getting 4 stars is the AMAZING pretzels and dip that we had as an appetizer! I ordered a burger that was a little too spicy for my taste and the fries were just ok. My friend had the melt and he seemed to enjoy it enough but was not over joyed about it. The service could have been better, the waitress walked pass my empty cup twice before she offered me a refill and i pretty much had to flag her down if i wanted anything extra. Maybe she was overwhelmed since she was the only waitress but come'on there were all of 4 tables inside and two patio tables, it couldnt have been too much for her to handle.

I have eaten at Armadillos several times over the last ten years or so. One of the first times I ate there, we saw a cockaroach crawling on the wall. It grossed us out, but I realize that most restaurants probably have roaches and maybe it was just a fluke. So I returned there every so often for lunch. The food is pretty good. Well, I had dinner there on Saturday. After we ordered our food, one of the biggest roaches I have ever seen (about 4" long) crawled down the wall and across the room. My buddy saw it and told me that he lived with many roaches in his dorm in college, but he too had never seen one so big. I'm sorry, but I'm sure they can do a better job of extermination. That will be the last visit.

I used to go here quite a bit on the weekends when I lived in Annapolis. I liked that it was a mixed crowd. I'd see people from my gym (Golds) and people from work (Nordstrom), and met a few interesting characters. Also went to Armadillos a couple times for lunch when I had visitors in town. Very delicious gyros. Random, I know!

Great Bar fare... Went on a day-trip with my girl and we were in desperate need for some apps and drinks so we stopped here since it was a beautiful autumn day and we wanted to sit outside and wooo--la they happened to have outdoor seating. We ordered a margarita for me, bloody mary for her and an order of nachos and mussels...it was delicious...I think we each payed $8...they have great happy hour specials! Truly can't beat the deals!

Went here for brunch on a Sunday. It was not that tasty. The food was fairly bland. I ordered the french toast, and found it just okay. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't that good. The eggs my friends had were also bland. For a restaurant advertising brunch/breakfast, they only had 1 type of tea, too. The tap water was terrible and tasted like the pipes.

Not a bad place to go, it really depends on who is behind the bar. While I don't mind an attractive female bartender, it becomes an issue when they are clearly only focused on the money, and therefore only serving the gentlemen. I had one flirt with my boyfriend while I was sitting there, and have waited way longer than I should have for a draft beer. Food is so-so, decent lunch and drink specials.

Bleh. The fries here were soft and soggy. Not exactly what I'm looking for when I come to a---well, not ever what I'm looking for. I got the crab cake sandwich, which was kind of plain and dry. I appreciated that there wasn't a ton of extra seasoning on the sandwich, but the breading in the crab cake dried the whole thing out and diluted the flavor. My wife got the nachos, which not only looked unappetizing, but didn't have a lot going on in the flavor department. Our waitress was very friendly. But her kind demeanor couldn't save the sub-par food experience.

Great food and drinks and generally a cute little hole-in-the-wall kind of place. I know they have buy one get one free drink nights sometimes but their specials seem to change randomly and are never posted anywhere. Good option for a night out in downtown Annapolis with decent prices.

My buddy and I stopped here during a work trip to the area. I ordered the $6 1/2-pound burger with fries. Great pub burger. Great atmosphere, just off the water, servers were friendly. I'll definitely be back if I'm ever in the area again.

Great bar to sit and chill with friends, or meet new friends. It's always a place I stop in when I go back and visit annapolis. I've never eaten a meal here, however.

Wow, this place is a winner in Annapolis!!! Located near the waterfront, this historic place was once an old jail house. The restaurant is has exposed pipes and brick walls to create a relaxed atmosphere. Equally impressive is the food, particularly the house specialities. I ordered the crab cake and a bowl of clam chowder. Both, were fresh, homemade, and absolutely delicious!

Dillo's has been a round forever and has a reputation with locals as a young raucous bar. Recently they've come under new ownership and made some big changes, my favorite being the menu revamp. The night scene hasn't really changed so this review is specifically about the food. The crab cake is one of the best I've had and certainly the best to be found in the handful of cookie cuter tourist bars clustered at the end of main street. Big lump crab seasoned well with the crab taking center stage, but its not the 4.5oz cake on a bun you usually find for $15 it's got a unique twist with ham, cheddar and baby spinach. If you like a crab cake but are bored with the monotonous offerings you should really try this one. The burgers are really stellar with something for everyone Meat lovers should try the Texan but the mushroom bella burger or green goddess will be a pleasant surprise for that veggie lover who has miserably settled for whatever side dishes they can annoy a kitchen into scrounging up. I would recommend asking them to leave the butter off your sandwiches though as they can be a little heavy handed and to order your burger rarer then you would prefer as they tend to cook everything midwell. The salads are pretty and the flatbreads are excellent to share if you just want to sit outside on a pretty day with a snack and a beer. Unfortunately they don't offer desert so you may be forced to visit one of the dozen ice cream shops you can see from their front door. The chicken tenders and waffle fries are also worthy of commendation, but really if you've avoided this prime location for the dull, dirty, frozen reputation it's had for the past few years I urge you to spend a lovely afternoon giving them another chance.

Love this bar! Good food, great specials and it's military oriented. The staff is always friendly and laid back. Ask for fries and the special ranch dip.... Awesome

Margarita specials where 3 bucks but tasted like pure sweet and sour mix with absolutely no alcohol. I had the crab pretzel dish which tasted very good but I didn't see the pretzel since it was served on a bun (perhaps they were out of pretzels?). It missed some fries to go with it. My girlfriend got the steak sandwich with fries but she had better in other places. The place (bar area and bathroom) could've also been more clean.

Tight bar but that's nothing new just squeeze you're way around. Came here on a Saturday convinced the bounce to let me and four friends in for just $10 all together and the plus: it was by one get one free until 10pm...you mean I get two red bull and vodkas for one!??! Word! Didn't stay here too long when we heard about Pusser's from some locals. Bartenders are awesome and attentive!

I went to Armadillo's this weekend, which in all honesty we do a lot of weekends. While sitting in the dark on a sunny day I thought that I might leave but the wait staff is was so attentive that we stayed rather than risk losing our seats. We agreed that Armadillo's may be dark but my friends and I talked about why we all like the place. We agreed on the following: The best best place in Annapolis to: A. Watch a Patriots Game (sorry Ravens) B. Watch a Redsox Game (sorry Oriels) C. Get a cheap beer (thanks Mr. Coors) D. Get good service (thanks Mackenzie) E. Eat a good burger (thanks Brandon) All the above are things that Armadillo's do very well. The place does a fine job of being a downtown bar without beating us up with high prices or taking advantage of tourists.

Crab cake is great! No filler and baked, a bit different than some of the others, but delicious! Drinks are excellent and the bartenders are a lot of fun! Would 100% come back!

Quaint pub in Annapolis that provided a very enjoyable experience. Great staff and good food. If I ever get back to Annapolis I'll definitely go there again.

They took everyone's cover (over 100 dollars) I understand when bartenders have to be strict with IDs, I work in a restaurant as well, but there's no reason to be impolite and as I am 22 years of age it's upsetting that the staff (two male bouncers) were rude

A sweet little bar with a very friendly atmosphere. The burgers stand as some yummy bar fare, and the service here has, in my view, always been excellent. I have been particularly impressed with Jen the manager/bartender who is the consummate professional. She has her hand on the pulse of Annapolis and make suggestions on things to do if you're new to the area. I never have a bad time when I come here, so it is always my first stop when I come to Annapolis. It's location is also ideal for a little Annapolis pub crawl, but trust me once Jen and the Dillos crew hit you with their magic, you may not want to leave.

Sunday, 3 pm. My experience... I and two others made it just in time to watch the owner drunkenly make a fool of himself along with his group of friends. We watched him wonder behind the bar to pour himself beers, put (loud) music on the digital jukebox (Tom Petty and like artists... ) sing and dance loudly, and when actual patrons put money in to play songs, we watched him turn down the volume. Not cool. Food was less than sub par, an order of wings never came out, which our server/bartender genuinely felt bad food- comped the wings and gave us a fresh order. Service, Good. Experience... well I wouldn't come back to say the least.

We went with a bunch of friends to this bar for the first time to catch the Ravens vs Pats football game. The upstairs bar is a Pats bar and downstairs was Ravens which made for a fun atmosphere. Overall, the bar was your typical bar. We didn't try any of the food...just drinks which were reasonably priced.

Wow, does THIS place suck! We remember Armadillo's when it was a meh Tex-Mex restaurant/bar a few years back. It wasn't much then either, but at least it was SOMEthing. Now, it's basically just another bar, with less seating than a hot tub. Most of the tables are gone, presumably to make more standing room for the barely legal crowd to buy cheap beer and bad margaritas and argue about whose tricked out Honda Civic has more horsepower. And gone is the Texican menu, replaced with a tacky, black and white sheet of paper from someone's bubble jet printer that offered a minimal choice of burgers/sandwiches and a few uninspiring apps. It looked like the entire menu was created in the time it took its author to brush his or her teeth. SIDE NOTE: we do love Dive Bars, and the best ones have character, and a personality all their own. This place has less personality than an insurance seminar. Seriously, the owner must've woken up one day said "hmmm, what is the absolute bare minimum I can put forth and still turn a profit???" A few Saturdays ago we stopped in with some friends for dinner, mainly because our first two choices had lengthy waits. (RED FLAG: It's 7pm on a Saturday in popular historic downtown Annapolis, and the place had maybe five people inside, while the first two places we tried were packed. It was so empty it was actually kinda creepy, like a Twilight Zone episode. We shoulda known better, but in truth we were all as interested in drinks as we were in food, so we decided to give it a shot. Bad move.) Margaritas? The waitress looked somewhat surprised when we asked for Patron Reposado, and returned with something that tasted closer to watered down orange juice with salt on the rim. I still have no idea WHAT was in that glass. Burgers? My wife asked for medium, and instead got--wait, what's the more cooked level above Well Done? Advanced Well Done? Petrified Forest Well Done? Official NHL Equipment Well Done? It was so dense and hard that Neil Peart could've put it on a stand and used it during his drum solo. After about 45 minutes of this we finally raised the white flag, got our check, and walked up the street to Toro Bravo, where thankfully they still offer good Mexican food on a real menu, actual dining tables, and Margaritas that taste like Margaritas. Dinner & Drinks, Part Deux. To be fair, if you're a 20-something, and looking for a generic place to drink with other 20-somethings, you may have a different take on what Armadillo's has morphed into. That's clearly their target now. But for the 35 and over crowd, do yourself a favor and keep walking. This is not--repeat NOT--a restaurant. At least, not one that anyone with even half a palette should have to experience. These days, Armadillo's does food like North Korea does International Diplomacy.

I love this place. The bartenders are always fun and talk to you. They usually have a great special going on almost every night of the week. They also usually have a Dj with great music. I would recommend this place.

This is my favorite place to go for a night out in DTA. It's small, sure, and the bartending is just ok, but it has it's upsides. Drinks are moderately priced, but good. The place gets packed on the weekend, but the clientele is generally pretty attractive (lots of cute Navy dudes) and well-behaved. The music is good for a club-vibe, and the lighting and overall atmosphere of the place is favorable. Good spot to people-watch. I can't comment on the food...I wouldn't come here for a meal anyway since I see it as more of a bar.

My review of this place all depends on the time of day you go and who is working. Some of the bartenders can get weeded so easily, some are so relaxed. There is definitely an odd smell to the bar - which isn't a bad thing necessarily. It's a dive bar in the middle of a bustling historic district - I actually find this to be a good thing. The only big drawback is the lack of good live music. They used to be a phenomenal venue to see a band - the likes of Gomez and the Jarflys used to play all the time, now it seems they've opted to go the DJ route - even when they have a band upstairs - this makes for a cacophony of noise. With all that said - try the tacos - they aren't on the menu, but if you hit them up at the right time they'll serve them - they are out of this world!!!

Buddy and I stopped by for lunch. I had the tenderloin steak sandwich w/ cheddar cheese and fries. For $10, it was perfect. The fries were just right and the steak was cooked perfectly. I guess we caught it on a slow day b/c we were only two of eight or so patrons. Nevertheless, great food and friendly staff. Will be back.

This little place is real close to the water. You walk by it and it looks like a small narrow place and when you walk in it sure is... but is filled with a few booths for chowing down and then on the far end by the bar (very nice traditional bar) there are smaller booths, in which my husband and I sat to eat one early evening. TV's play the sports games around happy hour, the crowd was light but local. The service seemed to be a bit off, but the young lady serving us was quiet new from what we could tell. But the food was great. I had a Gyro Quesadilla... get this.. a pita, covered in mexican cheeses and feta, topped with thick (and I mean thick) strips of gyro meat.. salad, tomatoes, raisins, lettuce, banana peppers, cucumbers... oh man it was yuuummm y. My hubby had a buffalo chicken salad which also went well with the thick blue cheese sauce they gave him, and the nachos were the right portion for an appetizer for two. All in all, besides the service the yummy factor and the brick wall ambiance I give it a 4! Thanks Armadillos, now all i can ask is keep that service you got in check!

I came through this spot visiting family. Its a small hole in the wall in a great location in Annapolis, MD. The scenery outside is amazing, the location is great. My family and I had lunch here on a Sunday after a downtown area art explosion. I have to admit, I made a mistake when ordering one thing here. Knowing I had to drive 6 hours this day, I steered away from the alcohol. I asked for a Perrier. The server looked at me and said, Im not sure we have that, and rattled off 6 or 7 different beers. I laughed and said, yes I do like a good drink, but this one is not alcoholic. Grab some water and shake it for me, you may get closer to what I need, lol. Sorry, that was my laugh, had to add that. I ended up with the special and another person grabbed the crab cakes. The food was pretty good, I have to say. Great serving sizes, with a great dive feeling. Annapolis is not new by any means, but if you want to enjoy the small town history, check this area out, and grab a bite here. You wont regret it.
