Ok, I'm probably one of the only people here writing a review that's NEVER gone to Peaceful Meadows as a child. But it was reccommended and I decided to take a major detour to try some of their ice cream the other day. Yummy! So there's no nostaliga in it for me. It's just a place on the side of the road that serves ice cream. Really good ice cream. I had the mint and butter crunch. The mint was good, while the butter crunch was truly outstanding. Prices were more than fair. And the milk from the store right next door is cheap and super tasty and really fresh tasting. The only thing is it smelled like cow dung but that's not really a big deal since you know you're getting it fresh from the utters. Since we were there at night, about an hour before closing, we didn't see the cows but from the smell, you could tell they were there.

This place is in a micro-mall and hard to find even if you know the general area. We had to ask a local where to go (the place came as a recommendation from the visitor center). The place smells when you walk in. Not sure if it is mold but something not pleasant. We overcame that and ordered. The sizes were a bit much for my preference and the prices were to match. That being said, the flavor was good. The girls working the window were friendly. It hit the spot on a hot humid day.

The ice cream here is simply delicious, there's a reason this place is always packed. Went here on a date with my husband, we went on a cold night to avoid long lines. The maple walnut ice cream was too delicious for words. I honestly cannot wait to have it again. The peppermint patty ice cream was also good but a tad on the sweet side. We will both be going back to try more flavors. Their ice cream is just too good to miss.

The best coffee ice cream I've ever had! Also, try the mud sundae!!

You can't not love a place that has COWS on site! And I sacrifice my lactose-intolerancy to the ice cream gods whenever I'm at Peaceful Meadows. :) It's delicious, and just so simple in the comfort of that cup of homemade ice cream. My only complaint is that there's no bathroom on site!

I used to go here at a kid. There is just something about eating ice cream while staring at cows and smelling their poo. Now I go here with my friends kids. There is just something about eating ice cream while staring at cows and smelling their poo (the cows not the kids). The ice cream cakes are pretty good too, usually you take those home, so poo is not included.

This is THE BEST ice cream place around. Hands down. They have the best ice cream and the most indulgent sundaes you will ever find

I've always liked "P-Meds". The ice cream is good, but I've never really felt it was the best. There really isn't anything special that you can do with ice cream. Place is hugely popular in the summertime but barron in the winter. You'll be lucky if you get in and out (also what she said) within a half hour when you go there in the summer. I give 3 stars because it's very average, there's really nothing special that brings them out. I'd probably give them 4 stars if their prices were lower, because the prices here are higher than you'd expect for just ice cream. This is to say nothing of some of the ice cream you get in Harvard Square 5 dollars for two scoops?! Anyways, I guess I would recommend the brownie boat. Ice cream is ice cream... For location, it's good, right on a nice part of Rt. 18 and there is plenty of parking. Cows can either add or subtract from the "experience" depending on if they smell.

Excellent ice cream, excellent gift store with their own regular, chocolate and coffee milk :) Seeing the cows and calves is always fun. A slice of the country just outside of Brockton, always worth the trip.

My sister says their milk tastes better. It tastes about the same to me. Their ice cream is good. But without doubt they have the best eggnog -and I've tried all the brands for many years in search of the best.

((( AN ICE CREAM HALL OF FAMER ))) This is one of my all time BEST ice cream farm, worth a drive from Boston. I have been their royal customer since 1996 while living in Providence. I drove 1 hour to get the best ice cream here whenever I could. Now, I still travel 40 min down there at least once every summer or stopby everytime heading down Rt. 24 to Newport, RI. It is an ideal place for afternoon treat and a typical countryside farm which is great for children and a date. They use fresh milk from their own farm on site. You can walk into their barn house and visit baby cows or visit their daily shop to buy milk, cheese and more. Service is always friendly. Ample parking space. ...most people just enjoy standing and sitting in own cars licking their yummy treat... Go there for Maple Walnut Ice Cream. It is the best I've ever had. I always leave there with two extra pints of it for my fridge. I hope they open one in Boston. Sadly, I am sick and tired of those pretentious ice cream joints (except Cabot's) in Boston - over priced, over rated, and over (silly) crowded. Where the hell on earth you have to pay for a 5 dollars softserve or tiny scoop of ice cream for a price of lunch at Chinatown?? = Boston........All Bostonian need is just one simply great all natural ice cream, like Kimball Farm and Peaceful Meadows. Please tell me if you find one great ice cream place that make you want to go back everyday, not because of convenience location or people watching. Eating ice cream is a licking of joy, please. I have been them all and they can kiss my right side Peaceful Meadows buttock.... I have not yet found anyone dislike this place. Who da hell don't love ice cream?? If they don't, they should sink their head into a gallon of the greatest Maple Walnut ice cream til they realize how foolish they have been for licking lousy ice cream. My god daughter jumping up and down when she first had her first bite of ice cream here. I thought she just had pot flavor ice cream because of her overjoy reaction and screaming yea yea yea... We looked at her in aww...That was 3 years old girl having a scoop of peaceful meadow ice cream with an unpeaceful reaction. ((( GOOD TIP ))) for preventing brain freeze (if chowing your ice cream too fast). hold ice cream cup or cold drink against your wrist, just below your palm (where the nerve is) for 10-15 seconds before you chow it down. Say goodbye to the brainfreeze or you will be allowed to kick my (( Peaceful Meadows )) butt if you find me lying. peacefulmeadows.com open from 10am - 10pm

My God does it smell like cow, but my God is it good! You really can't get any fresher when it comes to this ice cream. Some of the richest, creamiest death by lactose, EVER. They have the usual flavors you would expect at an ice cream place, and then a few looney ones. The sundaes are ridiculously large, and their frappes. On my God their frappes. I always feel like I somehow managed to ingest the cow itself after one of those. Open all year round, love it, with cows visibly in the back, love it.

Can't go wrong with this Place! It's been around for years! Love seeing the cows and kids! Scenery and Ice Cream!

Now here's a South Shore classic! I used to visit Peaceful Meadows in Whitman as a child - I seem to recall having a spectacular 9th birthday party with their Reeses Peanut Butter make-your-own-sundae party kit (you can see that my love of all things peanut butter started young!) We recently stopped at the Dairy Store to pick up their freshly made eggnog for the holidays. It was the perfect addition to our Thanksgiving meal, nothing beats their fresh eggnog! And their eggnog and pumpkin flavored seasonal ice creams are wonderful too. Open year round, Peaceful Meadows never fails to draw a crowd, we stopped by around 7 PM on a Tuesday in November on a rainy night, and there was still a line in front of the ice cream shop! When the weather is nice, it is also fun to take a tour of the dairy barn, which is open from 8 AM - 6 PM and visit the cows!

Five stars for the nostalgia of coming here with parents when I was a kid. Glad to know they are still around...and still wonderful!! I will make a road trip there this summer.

Best ice cream. If you enjoy ice cream and staring at cows while you enjoy that ice cream, Peaceful Meadows is perfect. I challenge you to find anyone not smiling.

Not my neighborhood, to be sure. But, I've got a sister-in-law near here, so we went by.... Yeah, Baby! Real cows, good Ice Cream, and it's a sweet spot to stop and enjoy a little Peaceful Meadows... They make real Lime Rickeys, too!

  • Jimmy K.

Let me start off by saying I'm not a huge ice cream fan. I always prefer frozen yogurt or soft serve ice cream and I rarely have real ice cream. I have never had ice cream like Peaceful Meadows. There ice cream is hands down the best in New England. They are open all year round which is great for me because I don't live that close to Whitman, but once and a while I will travel down there just for this place. Some of my favorite flavors include the strawberry and banana (both together of course is better). My mom used to go to Peaceful Meadows as a child and she said that it hasn't changed a bit, the ice cream is still great and the building is the same. They use olde style cones and the cows outside are an added plus! Gotta love the cows!

I was lucky to live fairly close to Peaceful Meadows for 15 years, but I didn't go here nearly often enough. This is by far the BEST ice cream you can get anywhere, in my humble opinion. If you are driving down route 18, you cannot pass Peaceful Meadows without stopping. Long line? No worries! They have several windows open, which make the lines move quickly. Once you get your cone, go visit the cows in the barn, and say "Thank you, Girls!" Enjoy!

Best ice cream EVER! I came here as a kid, worked here in high school, and make a point of stopping by whenever I'm in MA visiting my parents. The ice cream is fresh, creamy, & delicious--you can't beat it. Favorite flavors: peppermint patti, black raspberry, chocolate chip, Dutch chocolate almond. (I also like Heath Bar when they have it.) The whipped cream here is great, too. I'm not a big whipped cream person (I'd just as soon do without it) but even I can't resist it. You must, must, must have the Reese's fudge sundae--crushed Reese's peanut butter cups and hot fudge over your choice of ice cream. To make it even more sinful, get them to add some peanut butter sauce, too. The ice cream cakes are excellent. No weird cake layers here; just two layers of ice cream sandwiched around a topping (my favorite is fudge & crushed Oreos) and covered in whipped cream. Don't forget to visit the cows while you're there! At Christmas, stop at the Dairy Store for some eggnog--it's rich & delicious.

  • Jenn D.

i love their ice cream, but they only have like 6 flavors that never change, they wouldnt let me put toppings on the cup size i wanted ( i guess u have to get a sundae if u want toppings of any kind..) and they didnt have jimmies....:i mean, c'mon. no jimmies?!?!?!

  • Jennifer D.

I love it! It is an ice cream institution. It is one of those get your ice cream, you look at the cows and the cows stare back at you type of places. I grew up in nearby Holbrook and we would make the trek here often Now as an adult, if it is a warm day and I am in the vicinity, it is a must stop place.

  • Caitlyn L.

Peaceful Meadows is another big dose of nostalgia...when I was growing up coming back from an evening at the beach, we'd stop at Peaceful Meadows and stand around eating our ice cream (and get eaten alive by mosquitos, I'm sure). In my teens, it wasn't summer until I'd been to Peaceful Meadows. Great, fresh ice cream in pretty basic (if it ain't broke, don't fix it) flavors. I've only had a sundae once, but their peanut butter is GOOD and I love me some peanut butter. Stop by, have some ice cream, and say hi to the cows.

Awesome ice cream... I LOVE THE PISTACHIO!!!! On site cows for the kiddos... Been there for many years and hopefully many more!! 2 small cones for under $6.

  • Katie L.

HOLY COW! Their ice cream is YUMMY! It's located on a cute farmish like area with cows eating grass in the fields... they make their own ice cream and their portions are a great size! They also sell their fresh items in their store right next door to the ice cream shop :) They sell milk, choc milk, coffee milk, root beer, cream soda and a few more local items. Their milk is creamy and I like the idea of helping the local guy :) The staff is always friendly and don't let the lines scare you, they always have many people working and the lines go quick!

    (5)
  • Eric T.

From May to September the parking lot is jammed every night here. The Ice Cream is well worth the wait. The cows are in the farm out back, it doesn't get any fresher than that! They have all your standard favorites. You can get an old fashion cone, or have it in a cup. My favorite thing to get is a country club...Orange Sherbet, Vanilla Ice Cream, and Coffee ice cream all in one dish. It's a great combo! They also make a mean Raspberry Lime Rickey, and a great root beer float. It's a great place to bring kids. You can walk right up to the cows, and see a working dairy farm.

  • Pamela K.

i would gladly eat at peaceful meadows for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and my in between snacks. They have enough selections to cover all tastes in the month. Ingredients are fresh as can get!! the cows are right in the back of the store!! Toppings are just wonderful. I love love the coconut chocolate chip with chocolate covered almonds!! it's not too creamy like alot of other ice cream shops, where you feel heavy and sick afterwards. I've had the cappuccino ice cream too, and that is as delicious. AND the price is just right!!

I am new to the south shore and was looking for a spot over the summer (who am i kidding who needs an excuse for an ice cream). This place is truly wonderful, the staff at the window are kind and courteous. The staff in the Dairy store are wonderful. This is a place where i know that i will be taking my kids. The ice cream cannot be beat!

I came back here yesterday hoping to relive my beautiful childhood memories of eating ice cream in a nice, clean parking lot while smelling cows. The moment I drove into the parking lot, I realized I had made a mistake. I was thinking of Crescent Ridge in Sharon. So their ice cream is pretty good, but the parking lot is cramped and dirty. They also don't have as many options (I didn't even see any sorbet or frozen yogurt!) as Crescent Ridge. Do yourself a favor and drive yourself to Sharon if you are craving fresh ice cream.

you should order... peppermint stick coconut mint chocolate chip its ice cream! with cows! and all their awesomeness! you get to pet them, love them, and eat their products. This review is brought to you by me as a kid at all ages. I grew up on this place - and by a couple of others who live there now and drag me along as if I don't know, HA. Been pettin' cows and eating cream here since I was toddlin. ;)

Best ice cream ever! I am an ice cream fanatic. Ben and Jerry's move over. Creamy and silky, always tasty. Cresent ridge is no where close to this place. You must try it to understand. Trust the reviews.

  • Ethan A.

Great ice cream. All the flavors and varieties you want, and freshly made too. If you look into the windows and up at the white board, they have their seasonal flavors listed. I always go for one of those, even if it sounds a bit quirky. The ginger was exceptional. Its open until 10, year round. A bit of a drive, but totally worth it.

Summary: There is nothing like a dairy bar that is open till 10pm, 7 days a week to make you call your friends and say "Are we going to have a peaceful night" Rich, Creamy goodness. This is a place for ice cream purists who like just the ice cream vs someone looking for a sunday. Don't get me wrong, their sundays are great, but for those who want to taste the ice cream, this is the place. More: Peaceful Meadows is no nonsense Ice cream. Sure they have sundays, and banana splits, and other things, but go for the plain ice cream. They have plenty of parking. Sometimes it gets a bit buggy there (being near the field that surrounds the farm is the likely culprit). So be prepared with bug spray or to do a dance trying not to get bitten. There really isn't any seating. There are a few small benches way over to the left (looking at the store) past the parking lot, but this almost doesn't qualify. Peaceful meadows could improve things with a nice seating area, but WHO ARE WE KIDDING, ths change wouldn't make us come more often! That's not really possible.

  • Dana B.

I can't stress enough the fact that if this place ever closed, it would be like my childhood was slowly fading away like that photo of Marty and his siblings from Back to the Future. It was a special treat to be able to go to Peaceful Meadows. The big draw always has been and will continue to be the fact that you get to walk around and pet the cows. Sure, the barn stinks so its best to go in there first or after you eat your ice cream, but it just adds to the small town charm feel. Their ice cream is very creamy and they are always mixing up their flavors. Like all ice cream places they definately have a ton of mixin's.

    (5)
  • Mara K.

Yeah, yeah, the ice cream is very good, but that's not why you need to go here. You need to go to the country store and purchase a pound or two of Nodine's Double Smoked Bacon. It will make you re-evaluate bacon forever.

    Best ice cream hands down

I grew up going to the one in Middleboro (and would occasionally venture to the one in Plymouth)... however my husband and I frequent the Whitman one the most these days. Their coffee ice cream is the only thing I actually woke up craving at 4 am whle pregnant with my daughter. If that's not an endorsement...

i had a religious experience when i originally tried the ice cream. i am a huge pumpkin ice cream fan and because it is only in season for a few months in the fall, i find it very important to try it from as many places as possibly. peaceful meadows pumpkin ice cream is absolutely amazing and i made sure to buy a few gallons to freeze when i knew i was running out of time. the only issue i have with them is the fact that they are an ice cream place, that doesn't have jimmies. how do you not have jimmies when you have ice cream? i've asked, but no one seems to have an answer.

Sweet simple creamy ice cream.. and LITTLE BABY COWS YOU CAN VISIT! I don't think I would make the drive out to Whitman half as often if it weren't for the fact you can walk into the barn and visit the cows. Yes, it is still on a farm but you can eat a tasty ice cream treat to distract you from the smell of the cows while you visit them.. they are so cute.. so so so cute. They have a bunch of homemade ice cream options and even low-fat options, sundaes, sundae paks to DIYS, ice cream cakes, frappes, shakes.. what more could you want? They also have a Dairy Store open till 9pm every night that sells milk, cream, butter, pies, smoked bacon, cheeses, popcorn, maple syrup, bottled sodas, & water! hoorah **nut allergies** beware of nuts, ALWAYS ask if nuts are in the flavor you want, I got coconut here and there are almonds in the recipe..

Every region has one of these dairy farms. They are nifty. In comparison to ones like Young's Dairy Farm in Ohio, its average. Worth the trip for its ice cream tho.

I have to say up front that my review for Peaceful Meadows is going to be a little slanted: Mom started me on their ice cream while I was in the womb. Thanks Mom. Anyways, Peaceful Meadows Ice Cream tastes unlike any other Ice Cream in the world. Seriously. This "different" taste, that you can't put your finger on is consistant from flavor to flavor. Their secret, from what I remember is the milk that comes from those cows out behind this year round Whitman landmark. The ice cream has a unique sweet creaminess to it. When you come here, expect to smell cows, especially if it's hot out. It's part of the charm, I swear. Anyways, PM serves a pretty standard selection of ice cream flavors, my favorites being black raspberry if I'm up for ice cream, banana if I'm up for a frappe. Dad likes the grapenut. I'm looking forward to dropping in when I'm in Boston in a few weeks.

  • P. G.

Gotta agree with most everyone here, this place is great. The only drawbacks would be the crowds and the pungent smell of cowpies, but you certainly can't fault Peaceful Meadows for either. Used to go here and also to Welcome Farm in Bing-town (which I am quite sure is no longer around) often in my youth. The ice cream is as good as ever, great spot to hit during the summer.

Great Ice Cream! My boyfriend always went here as a child while living in Whitman. He brought me back and I agree. The ice cream is awesome! Wish it wasn't right on a main road, but what can you do in Subburbia?!

  • Sofia D.

They have amazing Ice Cream and gerat cakes. I actually used to work there in high school and thank goodness their uniform has improved! Overall, I would probably choose Peaceful Meadows any night of the week over other sweet dairy dessert options!

  • Amy P.

This is my all-time favorite ice cream. During the summer months, this place is packed with people. Fortunately it's close enough that I can go when I want and it is open year-round. I love their M&M ice cream. The frappes are amazing. I love it all!

    (5)
  • D L.

I'm going to have to agree with pretty much everything Dave S. said! I, too, have been a PM fan since I was little. The Oreo ice cream is definitely my favorite there. Ever since I moved further away from route 18 I don't make the venture to the place that often (even though I'm by the Middleboro location, which just isn't the same without the cows!), but when I go it's definitely worth it. If you're ever in the route 18 area, definitely check it out, it's open year-round!

  • JJ O.

Love going here, although it's a haul. But, if I'm in the area, I definitely go. Their ice cream is creamy, fresh tasting just a little too sugary for my taste, but I can live with it! It is a bit expensive, but the quality is worth it. The counter staff is consistently courteous and FAST! Really like the mellow, side of the road farm vibe. Big plus is the retail store that sells farm eggs, milk, cream, sundries--the milk is cheaper than at the grocery store and all natural, so I always stock up when we go. Try it, you'll love it!!

I cried a little when the boy said he wasn't going to take a summer class at Bridgewater. You see, he conveniently swung by Peaceful Meadows on his way home and I would be the happy recipient of a 1/2 gallon tub of creamy goodness for $7. So well priced that I find it difficult to pay the $4 for the quart. Ample parking off a busy main road, the folks manning the registers and scooping your cones are friendly and efficient. There is building that sells knick knacks connected to a stable for the cows. I would say that there is about 15 flavors that are consistently on the menu with a one or two special guests. Counting down the days until the boy has class again.... :-) Special Flavors taken off their site! January- Peanut Butter and Marshmallow February- Cherry Chunk March- Chip de Menthe, Reese's Peanut Butter Cup April- Mocha Chip May- Coffee Fudge, Ginger June- Carmel Pecan Crunch, Bubble Gum July- Peach August- Blueberry Cheesecake September- Apple Strudel October- Pumpkin November- Eggnog, Pumpkin December- Eggnog, Rum Raisin

Oh soooo yummy! When our kids were little, they loved to see the cows in the back. Really great Ice Cream with plenty of crazy flavors. We recently had a party and bought the small Ice Cream cake and it was huge! It's was also DELICIOUS. They have a bigger Ice Cream cake too if you need to feed more than 10. Absolutely Fabulous.

No better ice cream on the planet. Wonderful fresh flavors, sublime creamy texture. See and smell the cows. Just as I remember from 50 years ago, but better.

i am in love. my boyfriend is a former resident of whitman, and grew up on this stuff. in the process of introducing to me the history of his upbringing, we have been to peaceful meadows a multitude of times. their chocolate frappe is easily the best thing on the menu, though i have also enjoyed their frozen pudding ice cream (like a cross of rum raisin with fruit cake, in an ice cream- sounds awful, but is super yummy), as well as their cookies & cream frappe. but the chocolate absolutely takes the cake. i think that, in light of this super cold and snowy winter, if this place is open till 10pm each night, and at 9:30 there's still a LINE... they must be doing something right. an added benefit is visiting the cows in the building just next door. made my night. we buy their milk and coffee milk whenever possible, to support local. i highly recommend.

If you are looking for homemade ice cream, look no further. Peaceful Meadows is a classic south shore joint for some truly authentic homemade ice cream. With the farm right next door, you know it's the real deal. Super creamy and sweet ice cream, churned perfectly. I've tried so many different flavors here, there's nothing I don't like! Try anything!

Real, homemade, fresh icecream. It is a little pricey for the portion but entirely worth it if you are treating yourself. They have a wide variety of flavors, and some rotating specials per month. Coconut almond and Peppermint Patti are my favorite! Their whipped cream, amazing! Thick, creamy, heavy, homemade and comes in regular or chocolate flavors. Icecream cakes are inexpensive, plentiful but they offer only 1 simple design. They are all bundt/donut shaped only, no special themes or decoration styles. You can pick a few flavors of icecream for the inside. Your flavor of whipped cream for the frosting and sundae toppings. My son adores the cows! During the winter they can be visited in the barn or when it's nice out - found roaming in the pastures.

I used to come here as a kid when we lived down the street before moving to California in 1996. I was visiting my best friend in MA last month and we went to go see our old house in Brockton. We stopped at Peaceful Meadows on the way home. It's just as I remember it! We each got a cone and it was as good as I remember. We got our cones and sat out front, just like we used to as six-year-olds, 20 years ago. I'm glad to see Peaceful Meadows is still around. And that it's just how I remember it as a kid.

The best ice cream place ever. Fresh and delish!!! I love the peppermint patty half gallon . It's 6.50 better than buying a small or large ; you get more ice cream than you pay for. Sweet tooth.

We go here a lot because it is close. It's also always busy because it is sort of famous in the area. What has troubled me and continues to trouble me about this stand is their continued reliance on high fructose corn syrup as a sweetener. Putting the health debate aside sugar sweetened items just taste better and as they are also more expensive to produce it is a clear quality identifier when in 2015 a successful vendor continues to not turn away from it as a staple.

The ice cream here is creamy and amazing. It is the best I have had in New England. And that is saying a lot. There are a lot great ice cream places around here. The ice cream is made from the milk of the cows they have on site at the farm (it is literally a ice cream shack in front of a parking lot and behind a peaceful farm meadow). The ice cream is fresh, local, and delicious. It is a good deal if you buy in bulk. You can get half a gallon of ice cream for about $6.25. This is both great and not so great. It is great if you love top notch cream. It is not so great if you do want to go get diabetes. I highly recommend the banana ice cream. The dark raspberry is also very good. I also suggest buying your milk and eggs from their dairy store. They are the best milk and eggs, I have found in New England. Granted I have not tried very hard to find any better though. :)

The ice cream at Peaceful Meadows is scrumptious!! I love to get the Maple Walnut & my wife always gets the Dutch Chocolate Almond. All the ice cream is made on site & they use the milk from their own cows. You really cannot get fresher than Peaceful Meadows, you'll love it!!!

Celebrating 50 years! This place has always been a childhood favorite. They make their ice cream there and you can even pet the cows. I've moved out of this area a long time ago but once in awhile i drag some friends for a Peaceful Meadows road trip. I love how they have specials like the Apple Cinnamon Sundae & Blueberry Cheesecake ice cream to name a few. I've read some of the other reviews complaining about few low carb/diet options at an ice cream place, I don't know what they expect. Peaceful Meadows may not have 10,000 flavors but what they have is the best. Honestly the other places that boast assorted options.. Your probably eating something that's been sitting there for months... That's not even healthy. Enjoy this place for what it is and if you want to be healthy go to the gym you pay a membership to that you never attend.

Good ice cream. Good, friendly service. The barn with the cows is right on site too. Big private parking lot right on route 18. There is a store for fresh milk etc too.

Peaceful meadows is a hometown classic. They had cows roaming the grounds, giant cow head sculptures in the field and honest amazing ice cream. Always staffed with super friendly locals happy to give you a heaping helping of ice-cream tastiness. They are open year round, so don't forget about them in the cold of the winter. They also have a little market store next door with farm fresh products and even some homemade sodas! Don't miss their classic eggnog around the holidays, it's perfect!

I have found my new ice cream place! I was concerned about losing my old ice cream shop when I recently moved, but Peaceful Meadows will more than make up for the old place--not only do they make the ice cream fresh, but they have COWS and are open year-round. I'll never have to settle for chains when I have a sundae craving. The selection is great, the ice cream is delicious if a little on the softer side (I like my ice cream pretty solid). Definitely a place to frequent.

I love Peaceful Meadows! They have always been my favorite ice cream since I was a kid. Peaceful Meadows ice cream is the best, without a doubt! Delicious flavors, top quality, awesome combinations like banana splits and brownie boats. My favorite flavors are banana, butter-crunch, and peppermint stick, but I honestly love them all. Peaceful Meadows also serves the best raspberry lime rickey in this entire world (seriously! I'm not exaggerating). They use an entire fresh lime (you can see the whole lime at the bottom of your cup), and fresh raspberry puree. Simply amazing. If I had to pick one thing on their menu, which would be such a hard decision (yes, I'm passionate about this place! haha), it would be the raspberry lime rickey. The lines get long during those hot summer nights, but they move fast. There is a building on the side of the ice cream stand that houses the cows and you are able to go in and touch the animals. Just be careful of Ol' Suzzie, she loves to chew on everyones hair. I absolutely love spending some quality time with the cute cows, especially Suzzie...I only wish they allowed us to snuggle. The parking lot is huge, and the land where the cows graze is beautiful. There is also a little store separate from the ice cream area where you can buy pies, milk, cookies, bacon, syrup, delicious warm popcorn (my favorite), and many other things. The woman that works in the store is so sweet too! Both the store and ice cream counter offers great gift packs all year round. Last Christmas I bought a couple root beer float packs that included their own glass bottleD root beers, an ice cream scoop, and a coupon for a free half gallon of your choice. They were a huge hit!

Nothing beats the taste of fresh creamy ice cream and the smell of hot steamy cow poop!

I've noticed that the quality has gone down over time. The butter crunch while tasty had very little butter crunch pieces. My wife had a "fudge" flavor that was really chocolate and not very fudgy. Portions and prices are not too bad.

WOW The only time I go here is when I am heading to BikeBarn.... This is some of the creamiest ice cream I have ever had. Great flavors, great quality. Only downside I have found so far are the shakes. They put way too much milk, so the lose a lot of flavor. Better off enjoying the ice cream straight. Best cookies & cream I have ever tasted anywhere. And you can go look and potentially pet some cows... best part!

I wanted to love this place. But in the competitive world of ice cream we live in today, they just really need to expand their menu. Come on - 2 options for frozen yogurt and a handful more for their renowned homemade ice cream?? The ice cream is delicious, don't get me wrong. And with not much else in the area, I'm sure I'll continue to go there. But expand the menu. Please!!!

In terms of fresh ice cream near the ol' homestead, Peaceful Meadows is close and consistent. I always stick with the oreo cream ice cream that although is nothing jump-out-of-your-pants special, it's definitely tasty and always hits the spot. I feel like you always get your money's worth, too. For an oreo cream cone and a medium cup of peppermint patty ice cream, it was $6. Totally awesome. I definitely wish they had more flavors, but it's worth a stop if you're in the area.

Ice cream is pretty good so why only 2 stars? Because give us a place to enjoy our ice cream besides a parking lot and a lame unappealing patch of grass! Not exactly "peaceful" by any stretch.

Open year round and home made. SOOOO GOOOD!! Order an ice cream cake they are to die for. Especially the mud pie one!!

The ice cream was not overly creamy. This seems like a good, old-fashioned, sundae ice cream. The ice cream seems more on the sweet side than the creamy side. Cone was surprisingly tasty. Hard to find good cones these days. Maybe they could put some cone pieces on top of the ice cream? I'd buy that. They have a nice little farm store where they sell things like dairy products. This is the main location.

They make this orange drink called the Orange Freeze that is incredible. Really good Ice Cream. Good environment to bring kids to see the cows.

Located a few miles down from my favorite garden center and I just found out. I missed out on many years worth of refreshing lime rickeys. If only had i known, my sweaty trips to the garden center would have been even more enjoyable. I have some makeup work to do. They serve ice cream that they make. It's very good. My son got his chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream first. He takes a couple of spoonfuls and says: "this is mad good." I tell him to use proper English. Then I get my banana ice cream, take a few spoonfuls and say: " this is mad good." To myself, of course. Prices are reasonable for the amount of ice cream you get. There are cows on the property. I don't know what they're used for. Just reporting what I saw.

My parents used to take me and my sister here when we were kids to get ice cream and see the cows. Now, I live about a mile from the farm and take my kids here all the time. The little store next to the ice cream shop is kind of like a mini country store with food items like real maple syrup, pies, specialty sodas (bottled under the peaceful meadows name) and authentic Toll House cookie dough. This is the ONLY place my wife will buy milk and eggs as well. And they are open until 9pm every night so it fits in perfectly with my schedule when my wife asks me to get milk at 8:45pm on a Sunday night! The ice cream is top notch but my kids always want the coffee milkshakes. My only complaint with the ice cream shop is no chocolate jimmies (sprinkles for you non-new engladers). I love vanilla ice cream with jimmies but, sadly, I can;t get that here so I usually go with one of their other flavors. But the ice cream is great. For a while they seemed to reduce the number of cows on location as I believe they kept most at their other location, however, over the last year and half, they seem to be moving more back to the Whitman location. My kids love going into the barn and seeing the cows there. It's a great place to go any time of the year but getting ice crea, visiting the cows and sitting around the parking lot areas in the summer time is tough to beat.

This makes me so homesick. I grew up around Whitman and now live in Texas. Sorry, Blue Bell has nothing on Peaceful Meadows. I think it must be what the cows eat. A true dairy cow eats sweet field greens like what the Peaceful Meadow's cows eat. I can tell the difference in the milk in Texas too. It lacks the sweetness that we grew up on. My favorite is the Black Raspberry at Peaceful Meadows. Maybe because it was my Grandmother's favorite.....OMG, it is pure creamy heaven.

This place is great - well, it was great. Now all these young kids go there with their hip-hopping and dubstepping; it's become a madhouse. The reason I'm still giving it four stars is because of the memories. Oh, the memories! I knew everything was beginning to turn - toward hell, you know - the day I tried the orange pineapple frappe. I had always flirted with the idea of trying it, as it sounded so delightful, but when I finally pulled the trigger I wish I had never been born with a penchant for ice cream consumption. I should have stuck to my usual, a blackberry or cookies and cream frappe. Don't stray, young ice cream aficionados. You think you know you're with "it," until "it" becomes strange and unfamiliar. Then "it" is loud and tastes like a backwashed Orange Julius.

I can't imagine anyone disliking anything from Peaceful Meadows. Creamy, delicious ice creams, local dairy products in the Dairy Store are a must! There's just something a little bit sweeter and creamier about their milk (it's the only place I buy milk now...and I used to buy organic!)

Peaceful Meadows is absolutely the best and most comforting ice cream I have ever had. It is always a treat and a pleasure to make the trip out here. I highly recommend the creamy and delicious frappes they make. It is literally ice cream heaven pouring into your belly. The treats here are only the beginning of an experience at this stand. Rolling fields, cows and calves, a silo, and barn litter the property. It is all part of the calming experience of purchasing ice cream here. The grounds transport the old into their youth and the young into a world of interesting sights and smells. Families sit together in the grass, catching drips of ice cream as they roll down their hands, couples walk their dogs, while grams and pops hold their grandchildren on the fence to better see the mystical black and white creatures swatting at flies. Peaceful Meadows is a wholesome, down-to-earth, 'peaceful' establishment, that I hope lasts for many more generations to come. Their fresh ice cream sets the standard for all others. Can't wait for my next trip there!

After some difficulty getting a response from the company, I finally received the allergen ingredient information that I requested. The ice cream is fabulous, I just wish that communication had been a little easier. This is important information for many customers. It should be listed on their web site and it should also be readily available to the retail staff so they can help customers with these types of questions.

Came here on a an "ice cream" date, which was cute. The person I went with was super psyched to take me, as it is his fave place to go in the area. I totally appreciated the fact that their ice cream is homemade, but with competition in the area, and with there being many other places that make their ice cream on site, this was kinda disappointing. I mean they need to get with the times a bit and expand their menu big time. With that being said I opted for traditional vanilla...yes kinda boring I know, but it was good. My date got some sort of cappuccino frappe, I tasted his and it was yummy. Buuuuuut......They have very little flavors to choose from, and they do have specials, but still. And they have like what? I think 2 frozen yogurt options, c'mon now kids, step up your game. And for those of us out there that are "carb/sugar conscious," they should have at least a couple to choose from. I LOVE ICE CREAM. And I have been to a million places, including places that make their own, like Peaceful Meadows, and they've had a large selection of regular ice cream, along with frozen yogurt and the low carb/sugar fare. So needless to say, I was unimpressed and wouldn't rush back.

I've got family in Whitman, well, East Bridgewater on the line. I don't get out here much, but in the summer I try to make time for a stop to Peaceful Meadows when I am here. Any place where ice cream and cows are together makes sense to me. I am trying to find other reasons to go to Whitman to enjoy delicious ice cream ... like I could stalk my ex and enjoy delicious ice cream. OH!! This could work... Mrh... naw... I'm not the stalker type and even if I was, I'm over it. Maybe I'll just try and visit my grumpy cousins more often... ugh. Okay, maybe I don't need this ice cream that badly. But it's good. And if you're nearby, you should eat some.

Overrated. I have been going to this place for years. Why? It's close, the ice cream is pretty good. And yes...there are cows there...big whoop. I love cows just as much as the next guy, but really...staring at cows after about 30 seconds is about exciting as watching grass grow. Here is what I DO NOT like: 1) Flavors never change and they are pretty stale to me at this point. No mint choc chip? 2) If you want ANYTHING on your ice cream they up-charge you for a sundae. Example: My 7 year old daughter wants a kid size cup with m&ms on it. Sorry. You can't get kids size with m&ms. REALLY! You have m&m's, and you have kids size cups...so what is the deal! Well they said if you get any topping you have to be charged for a regular sized sundae. So my option was pay for the huge sundae but get the small cup with m&m's. Great sales strategy...charge full price and give the customer half the product. Brilliant! This is so crazy to me. Horrible customer service and management. 3) See number 2...so annoying. I literally won't go back here because of this. Yes I'm cheap. But I also am experienced in sales and customer service and this just makes no sense to me. I know there are a ton of people who love this place but let's get real, have you ever really had bad ice cream? Even a crappy place will probably still be pretty good. Skinner's Sugar right down the street or Heidi's pretty close in Hanson has a better selection, better pricing, and no stinky cows. Bring it!

So yes the cows are Super cool butttttt Why This place cant make/buy waffle cones is beside me. That just makes me nuts! I cant consider an ice cream a true cone without having the choice of waffle. I cringe whenever the BF wants to go here because i rather so many other spots that have homemade cones.

Excellent and creamy ice creams, fresh dairy shop on site and run by the locals and local teenagers. It adds to the times of yesteryear we all yearn for.
