Love it here. It has this hole in the wall feel to it, but the food it solid. Love the abundance of the pickled appetizers- - sometimes I have a little too much and I'm not as hungry for dinner. Love the kimchee pancakes and their beef bulgogi - - keeps me coming back for more.

Let me start with this - I'm Korean and I'm FROM Korea. So, if you're one of thems Korean people skimming past reviews from white people assuming that they don't know jack about Korean food, don't pass mine. From what I can tell, the restaurant is family owned and operated. I couldn't see a single illegal immigrant busing tables or working in the back. This, to me, is a good sign. I'm not a fan of exploitation. However, this also means that they're often overwhelmed during busy hours service can simply suck. I've waited for a really long time to order my entree with an empty water glass. I won't take away a star for service because I encourage and support small family run businesses. More importantly, their food is awesome. They give you a wide assortment of banchan (side dishes), have an extensive menu of authentic and traditional Korean entrees that are delicious, and they also have some Korean/Chinese dishes (jjajangmyun, jjampong) that are really tasty. They make their myun (noodles) from scratch and you can tell. Their prices are reasonable if not downright cheap for certain dishes. Despite the slow service at times, the waitstaff has always been friendly. I heart this establishment.

I love this restaurant. Excellent Korean food and very friendly service. I mostly get the soups/stews. Most recently I got the cod with vegetables. It was labeled spicy but ended up being "holy crap, burn your face off" spicy. It was delicious. Also the sides they bring you are amazing and they give you a ton of it. That might be my favorite part actually. The prices are good, but probably could be better. It's about the same as what you'd pay for in the city. But the quality really is amazing. It appears the bib bim bab is pretty popular, I'll have to try that next time...

I used to eat at this place on occasion. Some of their food is good, some of it is fair. But their service is severely lacking. While I've only ever eaten take out here (as their decor is rather mundane), and had mostly acceptable experiences, I was really disappointed by their reaction this one time when they messed up my food. One of the dishes was burnt to the point of not being edible; like the bottom was black and tasted charred. When I called on the phone to complain, they were very rude and told me all their food is good. They should have never served me that food; it must have been obvious to the cook that it was buggered. But the way they treated me on the phone was the kicker; I've never been treated that way by a restaurant. Any place can mess things up once in a while, but the good ones always make it right. I will never eat here again, especially when there is such a great Korean place across the street (Sapporo). I suppose I should thank them for being so nasty to me, because otherwise, I might not have discovered Sapporo which has become one of my favorite places.

This place is great! My husband and I both had the dolsat bibimbap. It was delicious! I would highly recommend this place. This is some of the best Korean food that we've had in Massachusetts. If you want a great, authentic and delicious Korean meal - then definitely stop by Westborough Korean Restaurant.

My husband and I are on a hunt for good Korean food, and drove nearly 40 minutes just to get to this place. It is a hole in the wall, funny little place in the middle of Westborough. We had the tteokbokki for an appetizer and it was delicious. It is these semi-solid rice cylinders in a spicy sauce - odd and difficult to eat with Western utensils, but so good! For the meal we had one dolsot bibimbap (that was what we came for), and I had some sort of breaded shrimp in a sweet-ish sauce. My dish was very good, it was similar to Chinese food and I think it would appeal widely to American palates. The bibimbap was definitely the best we've had in the USA, although it wasn't quite as good as the best we had in Korea (but we didn't really expect that). They didn't mind making it vegetarian for us. The servers were nice, and did not seem to mind the fact that we were not Asian (contrary to other reviewers' experiences). Just about everyone else in the restaurant was Asian. We're definitely going to return to this place, as we haven't found anywhere else in Boston that's as good for Korean.

In the greater Boston area, this is hands down the best Korean restaurant around. Unpretentious, so much so, in fact that you would easily drive right by it. Small, maybe seating for 24+ inside, serves soju. They serve you around 12 small plates of Korean condiments along with your meal (never seen this before outside of Korea). Very authentic and affordable restaurant.

This place served one of the best Korean food I've ever had. The environmental was very homey and the service was great. I would recommend this to anyone who loves Korean food.

I drove 90 minutes to meet a friend there. I was hoping it was good, it was! I love Korean BBQ. There is nothing I am satisfied with in the Hartford area. This has amazing bi bim bop and Bulgogi. We even tried a soup, I was unsure but it was awesome. Great banchan too

It's a family style restaurant. No fancy decorations, but delivers authentic and delicious Korean food!!! The service may be slow in busy hours. But the waitress are very warm and remembers you! I like their seafood pancake, sweet sour fried chicken, Galbigui (short ribs) and Bulgoki (sliced beef). Yummy!!!

The food was excellent, spicy but not overly so. I was impressed with the helpful service. Our waitress suggested a different sauce for our son to try on his Dolsot Bi Bim Bap (as opposed to the super spicy one), she brought a small bowl of it from the kitchen then had him sample it before drizzling over his bowl and showing him how to stir it in. My husbands chicken bulgagi was good as was my spicy noodle soup. Based on reviews we tried the rice cake sticks appetizer and they are a new favorite of ours.

When you walk into this place and see that 95% of the guests are Korean, it tells you that this place is authentic. This was our second time here in less than a year. I tried it the Dolsot Bimbim Bap with chicken, it was good. My wife was having it for the second time and she absolutely loves it. You can take your own wine to this place and they will give you glasses - can't beat that, can you? Kids enjoyed the shumai and the fried rice. The place is very homely, so if your expectations are for five star service, you may be disappointed. The waiters are very friendly and they do a good job. We love this place and will be back again.

My wife is Korean and we were looking for a good, authentic and affordable Korean restaurant. Very pleased with what we found. Big fans of their chicken bulgogi and dolsot bibimbop. While you wait for your meal, they bring out about 10-14 little bowls of different mini-apps that are delicious. Good tea, too. Service can be inconsistent depending on who is serving you. We've had to go to the counter to get our check a couple of times, but we always leave with happy bellies.

I've been coming here for a few years already! I STILL LOVE THIS PLACE! The appetizers are so tasty in addition to the actual meal. I come here almost every other week!

Prompted by Alan's review: I've eaten at WKR and enjoyed myself. The side dishes were ample and delicious, especially the starchy one (taro maybe?) and the kimchee. I ordered basics (bibimbop, bulgogi) and they were just fine, in both taste and portion. The service was slow (although thoughtful and nice) and the dishes were, on average, $3 more expensive than other the other Korean places I've eaten at, both here and on the West Coast. I was unaware they were BYO. That's always a plus, as I'm a sommelier. Sidenote: that fruit/alcohol bomb 07 Mollydooker Blue is a mismatch for Korean. Just sayin'.

  • W A.

Their Kimchi pancake and beef Bulgogi are my favorites. Very tasty and authentic. They offer tons of side dishes. Service is often off par, but that's what you expect from this kind of establishment.

second time here. it was quite busy for a weekday. it was my sisters first time and her being in love with korean food we kind of went overboard with the ordering. i don't remember all the names, but we ordered kimbap, egg soup, bulgogi, black bean noodles, japchae, and another breaded pork dish! just for 3 of us! not to mention the 12 little side dishes that they bring out as well! service was a bit on the slow side, since it was quite busy. the server wasn't that friendly as well but thats fine. the dishes were huge though! definitely bigger than sapporo down the street! the food was good, most of it was tasty, but the black bean noodle was just ok, definitely lacked flavor and from what my sister said, it was the wrong type of noodle. overall, it was a good experience and filling meal. we packed most of it home and we'll definitely be back!

This place rocks. So excited to have excellent Korean food in downtown Westborough. Super friendly staff. A little pricey for dinner, but worth it. Lunch is a great deal.

Chicken bib bim bab! I am a connoisseur of this dish. I have had it at dozens of korean restaurants. This rendition is near the top. Served traditionally with all the small appetizer dishes at this small fun restaurant in the center of Westborough.

  • Anonymous R.

Having come from K-town, it's not a fair comparison but this place was alright. The banchan dishes weren't fresh; there were many of them (about 11), more than they give you at most restaurants. The hot stone bibimbap was ok. Tea had a boiled taste. For a small place, it's loud. Dishes came very quickly, wait staff are attentive and cheerful. They have a large variety on the menu, including blood sausage, goat stew, spicy octopus.

I wanted to like this place as much as everyone else, but I just didn't. It was certainly not bad, but it was not great either. I went for lunch and there was never more than one other table of people in there with me. You would think that would guarantee fast service, but you would be wrong. The woman who was my server was very nice, but very slow. She was more interested in renting an apartment than serving me. She spent most of her time on the phone setting up appointments for people to see the apartment. I ordered the water dumplings as an app. They were delicious. For my meal I ordered the noodles with black bean sauce (I can't remember what they are actually called). These were very bland. The little dishes that they usually bring you before the meal came with a few minutes after my meal was served. I really did not want to eat them after the fact. There were tons of them though. I was just one person and there were at least 12 dishes. That was way more than one person should need, but it was nice that they were so generous with that. After they took my credit card it took forever for them to bring it back so I could sign and leave. If Sapporo was not right across the street then I would probably go back to Westboro Korean Restaurant, but since Sapporo is right there I doubt I will be back.

Best Korean food in the area. I do agree with the other posters that the service can be slow when the small restaurant fills with customers - - that's the one detractor from an otherwise great dining experience.

    (4)
  • Nathen S.

Family restaurant. Amazing food. The pork bulgogi is awesome (very spicy). The dumplings are amazing. We eat here about 2-3 times a month and love the food and people!

Much better food than sapporo down the street. Also cheaper.the lady who owns the restaurant is very sweet, its a family business.one of my favorite restaurants.period

Look, the decor is far from fine dining, but the food is unbelievably good. The dumplings were fabulous and the bulgogi was amazing. It came with numerous side dishes for the wraps. My daughter and I were entirely knocked out by how delicious it was. It's 5 hours later and I'm still stuffed.

Excellent Korean food. Owned and run by a family. Does not get any better than this.

  • Ju L.

I was pleasantly surprised by the food. I went for lunch with some friends and tried one of their lunch (bento) boxes. I had the Kalbi box. Kalbi was good -- it's pretty hard to screw up on it. The translucent noodles (yam noodles?!?) was mediocre. Dumplings and roll were pretty good. It also came with a miso soup and good size salad. All for $9.95. We also tried the seafood pancake, which was good too. It came with a large number of conditions (jinga), that were pretty good. I didn't try any of the other Korean dishes but would be willing to try them based on this good experience. Service was pretty good. Decor and atmosphere is that of a diner. Rug looks like it's partly torn from the wall. Don't go here for the decor but the food.

For a small town in Metro West to have two excellent Korean restaurants is an anomaly to say the least. WKR occupies a traditional Diner building that adds to the ambiance. The previous tenant was an excellent Shanghai Chinese place but they had a short run. WKR is thriving because of solid Korean community support and delicious food that features fresh ingredients. While there are Japanese and Szechuan items on the menu they do not do Sushi! An excellent decision, stick to the core. As I mentioned on any given day, except Tuesdays when they are closed, the restaurant will be 80-95% Korean patronized, the food is authentic. Expect the standard fare; Bi Bim Bap, Kalbi, Parbochae, Jap Che, etc, all done to the highest standards. Is it worth driving out from Boston? Maybe, that depends on your unique utility function. It's a 5 minute drive from my house, so we hit it for take about twice a month. * Korean Hot Pot $25-$37 this is worth the drive yo. * I honestly think this is as good or better than ANY Korean in Boston or Cambridge. * Soon Dae, Veggie and Seafood Korean Scallion pancake. * The first 5 apps on the menu are all different style dumplings * Noodles and Soups are an excellent choice here. * Lunch specials are pricey at $8 - $10 * As of this writing, BYOB!

  • Sean D.

Excellent food. I love the barley tea, too! I've made the mistake of traveling there on a Tuesday twice now, haha. The one day they're closed!

  • S T.

Service - the woman was nice, and explained dishes well, but overall too slow. Took too long to get our plates of kimchi (came out 5 minutes before our meal). Our waters/tea were not replenished unless we asked. Food - I can usually handle all sorts of heat and didn't want to end up with a bland meal, so asked for my dish to be spicy. Big mistake. They made the dish so hot it was unreal. And no water re-fills unless I asked. I spent most of the evening at the table chomping on ice. Under the hotness of the meal the dish was probably more acceptable, but nothing really amazing. This was my second trip here, and I'll say I wasn't really impressed. Everything was just OK. The food, the service, the experience. I probably won't go back.

BEST Korean (actually my favorite Asian restaurant!) in the area! Authentic food and friendly service. Love the little Korean appetizers they give you. My favorite dishes include bulgogi, jambongbap, spicy seafood tofu casserole, and dolsot bibimbop. I try to go there at least once a week or once every other week. Service can be a bit slow at times though, so I wouldn't advise going there if you're in a rush. But it's definitely worth the wait!

  • Christopher M.

Very authentic Korean food. I try and stop by every time I'm in the area. The bulgogi is phenomenal!

  • Busy L.

Wow!!! Great food. You know you're in a great when majority of the diners were Korean families. I'll admit I'm not a Korean food conneisseur but was so impressed with the food quality and taste. Try the specials on the wall as they are homestyle dishes. Had the Ginseng Chicken and was delicious. Korean style sweet & sour chicken was also outstanding.

I have lived in Korea, eaten cooked with friends in Korean homes, so know what Korean food is, and should be. I have made my own Kimchee with Korean friends and family. Westborough Korean Restaurant is less than satisfying in the quantity, and quality of the food & service. CLEANLINESS: 4 / 5 - A casual, all be it a bit too sterile and generic toned atmosphere well kept and clean. FOOD QUANTITY: 2/5 - Serving sizes were minimalistic in their scope and portions. - The standard for a Korean meal is based strongly on the side-dishes (condiments) that accompany the meal. These condiments should be fresh, many in number, and readily refilled when near empty. Unfortunately this foundation of the meal was limited in number, NOT readily refilled, and just less than acceptable in quantity. FOOD QUALITY: 2.5 / 5 - Main portions showed signs of penny pinching in content as such things as the meat elements were few and far between in the other lesser costing elements and this unfortunately affected the balance of textures that true Korean food represents. A good Korean meal is like a masterpiece performance on the pallet. My meal was like a 30 minute episode of dancing with the stars. VALUE FOR THE DOLLAR: 2 / 5 - For what was served, in my opinion, it was far over priced. - Perhaps if I did not know what a Korean meal, a real authentic Korean meal, should be I would have been satisfied. But I did know better and this was not worth the price. - I would suggest you save the $$ and head into Boston some time and try a Korean eatery there. There are many and most are great, for the same, or much less $$. SERVICE: - The limited wait staff was seemingly over stretched and the delays resulted in often food that should have been piping hot arriving lukewarm, and refills and other service elements falling to the wayside. Does WKR have the best Korean food in the area? Likely, but I can also say "MacDonalds has the best hamburger" in a rural town in Thailand, but then again that MacDonalds has the ONLY hamburger in that rural town in Thailand. Do a comparison for yourself, Drive the 30 minutes to Boston and have a Korean meal that blows WKR away.

This is as good and authentic as it gets for Korean food around here! The service can be a little slow at busy times, but it is definitely worth it!

We ordered this as carryout. The dumplings were good. Then we had two dishes. One was a beef dish with an egg on it. It was cold and bland. We also ordered some kind of chicken and noodle dish, which had very little chicken in it and tasted like wet slop. I can't give the exact dish names because my wife was so mad at the food that she threw the carryout menu out and they do not have a website. Maybe this is good Korean food, or maybe this is why you can't find much Korean food in the U.S., because it is not very good?

We had an exceptional experience at the Westborough Korean Restaurant. The ambiance was great and exactly what you would expect to find in Korea. The food was the best Korean we've had to date and the prices were reasonable.

  • Frank N.

DEFINITELY the best Korean in the area. At least, the best korean that I know of, heh. There's another place down the street called Sapporo that's japanese/korean, and that place kinda sucks and is exp cuz it's Korean BBQ. But anyways, it's pretty much a mom/pop shop so it's really informal, kinda diner-esque I guess. Everything I've had here is pretty solid and if it were in Boston, I think it would definitely hold it's own amongst the competition, though some places in Boston are indeed better. If you want to have more legit Korean food, definitely head here. I've had dolsut bi bim bap, fried chicken, and tuk buk gi (sp?), all of which were good stuff. I've been multiple times and have talked to the son and daughter who are very friendly. I agree that service can be spotty if it gets busy. It's a very casual/laid-back place, so I don't care much.

I went there for lunch and ordered the bulgogi box. It was alot of food for a small price. The side dishes were plentiful and tasty. My brother ordered the salmon box and he enjoyed every bit! He's a very picky eater so it says alot that he'd like to come again and sample the other dishes...I highly recommend it! It was worth the $8 to try out this place!

Best Korean restaurant in the area. We've tried many, including a few in Cambridge and Brookline areas, and found this to be the best. It's a family-owned restaurant that serves primarily Korean food (no sushi). The menu is quite extensive, and they have the usual Korean fare (okdol bibimbap, kimchi jigae and bulgogi), but the other Korean dishes are great too. The staff is very friendly and helpful (most are family members). It resembles more like a diner than a nicely decorated restaurant with great atmosphere. If you're looking for great Korean food, you will not be disappointed.

I love food and I love ethnic foods, it's all I eat if I have the choice. My son, who lives in NYC, introduced me to Korean food in Koreatown in Manhattan several years ago, and it's now about my favorite Asian food. I'm no expert, I've been out for Korean food including in Flushing, NY about 15 times, but I think the food at WKR is great. As to quantity, it's enormous. I've never seen so many side dishes, about 12 of them, any where else--it's a meal in itself. Yes service is a little slow, but so what, this is suposed to be DINING, not FAST food. And it's a small place, if I need something I call them over and they come right away. My last time there, last night, I had to ask for my tea (which is great) to be refilled, SO WHAT. The waitstaff is very friendly and my last time there my companion and I got into a LONG conversation with the daughter of the owner, I forget her name, who is a student and works there Mondays, about Korean food, Korean culture, etc. THIS is what makes a great dining experience.

The best Korean restaurant in the area. The other reviewers' comments regarding slowness apply, but the food is well-prepared, fresh and flavorful, and the menu has a nice breadth of offerings. Seafood dishes are especially well done, and the seafood scallion pancake deserves repeated mention. The service is better for more assertive patrons. They do not have a liquor license.

When In Korea do as the Koreans do. Order from this spot and expect to be impressed. Large portions, friendly service. Quick food. Bancan - awesome. A huge display of Korea's finest. Pickled cucumbers two ways, peanuts and celery, eggplant, seaweed and shredded cabbage. Incredible spice, perfect oil. Better vinegar. Large plate of tofu stir fry with kimchi arrives doused heavily in fiery pepper sauce. Plentiful vegetables. Giant chunks of tofu. Sliced pork. A side of coleslaw with a Russian dressing. An excellent place worth visiting frequently and often.

Very homey and authentic environment in here, feels like home. If you are looking for a comfortable place to get some nice food to fill up your stomach and warm your heart, this is the perfect place you could look for. We go here at least once a week. Best Korean restaurant. Very reasonable price and the portions are huge, we always have food for the next day if we go there for dinner. They have a huge varieties of food, such as hot pot, all kinds stew and bbq. Highly recommend beef ribs, for sure it is the best I have ever had, very juice and rich flavor. Goat stew is my favorite, and it is exclusive in this restaurant. The staff are very friendly, they always have good recommendations for us. Highly recommended restaurant. :D

I was getting over some stomach upset, so I needed some real food, home cooked style, so I thought Korean food would offer some tasty yet appropriate choices. I had kalbi tang. The banchan was nice, pretty tame. I ate all the kimchi, and none of it caused my fragile stomach any problems even though I thought I was asking for it. I look mi-guk, so I can't really blame them, but the broth wasn't the mild clear/white unsalted beef/bone broth and tasted like it was probably from concentrate/can/jar/powder. I will probably be returning to the area for work, so I will give them another try. I think I saw godeunggu-gui (broiled mackerel) on the wall or menu, so maybe I'll get that. Maybe they have daegu tang? I'll look for that next time too.

The food here is excellent. We went there yesterday with a party of 18 and every plate that came out was amazing. Since it is a small set up, there are obvious delays but if you have the patience, this place offers one of the best Korean food that Boston offers.

Tried this place this week in the evening and it certainly was not for us. Perhaps it was the fact that my wife and I just returned from the US from five years in Korea and expected the food to be up to Korean standards, but this place is actually the worst Korean food I have had in the US. Things that needed improvement: Side dishes were not fresh Jay-yook-bohk-Guem (Spicy pork with rice) had some funky non-Korean sauce Soft Tofu Stew tasted like it was from instant made packages generally not clean inside unfriendly staff Nice things: Menu was in Korean and English Parking was easy After living in Korea for 5 years, I can say that the ladies working here were definitely much more unfriendly than the hundreds of restaurants I went to in Seoul. I understand that Korean food is typically 2-4 times more expensive than in Korea, but this place just isn't cutting it.

My newly discovered authentic Korean food near by. Friendly staff. Love their flavorful ban-chan (serve in 10 small dishes!!!) very generous with side dishes. My friend ordered bibimbop was Ok and I ordered seafood soft tofu soup and I love how SOFT their tofu is!!! It was delisss and satisfied.

Amazing food, friendly waitress who did her best to explain the menu as it was very unfamiliar to me and my boyfriend, never having had authentic Korean before. I can't wait to come back and bring my friends. Relaxed, fun family atmosphere, hard workers that absolutely do their best to provide the most excellent hearty, fresh dishes. I loved the spicy rice cakes, kimchee pancakes, goat stew and spicy pork stew. This place is incredible!! Don't judge it from the exterior! It's awesome!

Hidden gem in the center of Westborough. Might not look visibly appealing from the outside, but whoever is cooking the home style Korean in the kitchen knows what's up. Pork bulgogi, must have. Squid stir fry / Mapa tofu / spicy japchae are my personal seconds. Sides are plentiful and service is very nice. Compared to sapporos it's not even a fair fight, Westborough Korean takes it first round-

I've ordered take out here twice already and have been very pleased each time. The spicy rice cake (dukbokki) was very good. It had the right proportion of sweetness and spiciness that I like although it could be a bit more creamier. The Jajanmyun was also very good. They serve it long noodle style but the black bean sauce was not as flavorful as I expected but still had a nice peppery zing to it. The banchan (side dishes) were all decent and good. One of the unique things I've observed is that they serve barley tea! I love barley tea but only a handful of Japanese and Korean restaurants in Boston serve barley tea for free. They also serve Soju and the brand of rice wine I like. I will definitely go again.

My friend and I had a craving for Dolsat Bibimbop and I raved about this place so we came to partake. Sadly, it was not as good as the last time I went. We ordered chicken wings and a kimichi scallion pancake as an appetizer and the Bibimbop to split. The Bibimbop came out first with all that goes with that which is a whole bunch of salads, kimchi, etc. This was one of the saving graces of ordering the bibimbop but that is where the goodness ended. The entree was off - maybe the meat was not as good or the veggies as fresh - but I could not put my finger on it. Maybe I have had many more bibimbop since then and now know better - not sure. The appetizers came way after the main course. The chicken was ok but the sauce was unevenly distributed and very cloying. We actually need to scrape some off to salvage the taste of the wings. The kimchi scallion pancake was good and evenly distributed but it did not help the overall experience. We came at an off time of day and the place was a little dirty. I think that also contributed our feelings regarding our meals.

It's the closest I've come to my grandmother's cooking. This is not a fancy place, but the food is very good and not Americanized. I have never been disappointed except that they are closed one of the days I work in the area.

First thing I noticed... the location is kind of confusing. But then again, I am not from this area, and I am not used to driving in the roundabouts. We ordered kalbi tang and kimchee fried rice. Both dishes were good, and portions were filling. We were also served with a good amount of banchan. Prices were about $3 or $4 more than what I'm used to paying for on the west coast.

Awesome place! Pretty good selection of food! I had budae jigae and korean rice cake it was great! There were also many side dishes, about 9, and most of them are great. Definitely coming back to try out more dishes.

This place is amazing! I keep coming back just because of the authentic food and the great service. The first time I came here was just for Young Yang Tang (spicy goat stew). It's rare to find this dish at other places, so I was excited and couldn't wait to try it the next day. After the first visit, I become the regular and want to try something more. The service here is always friendly and fast. I like the atmosphere here because it's very homey, casual, just like having a meal at your home. A Korean lady would bring a cup of hot tea for you with menu soon after you just seat yourself. Drinking hot tea while deciding what to have is definitely a great treat in this chilly weather. I was surprised to get a great variety of banchans, even if it's just me. Generally, I would get 8-9 different kinds of banchans, and each one was great. They changed sometimes, but some of them seemed fixed. I could see sweetened potato, spicy cucumber, kimchi, broccoli, and spicy eggplant every time. If you come with a larger party, I am sure you will get more kinds of banchans. I haven't asked for more banchans ever because the meal portion was really huge. As to the food, I have tried Young Yang Tang, Soon Dae Guk (blood sausage stew), and Gam Ja Tang (Spicy Potato and Pork Stew) so far. All of them were great, but I like Young Yang Tang the most. The goat meat was executed very well. Instead of a chunk of goat meat, it was more like pulled-pork but was a goat version. Because the stew was spicy, the goat meat was soaked with that spicy, flavorful soup. Yum! Soon Dae Guk was served with some pieces of intestines and tripe. The soon dae itself was pretty great; somehow I love that texture so much. I have tried it as a steamed appetizer too. I like it in either way. Gam Ja Tang is one kind of traditional spicy Korean stews, mainly includes a few big chunks of potato and pork backbones. There was about 4-5 huge pork back bones, and you could find some pork meat on each chunk of bones. I have also tried some appetizers, Gimbab (Korean style maki) and Ddukbokki (spicy rice cake). They were pretty great too. The sesame oil of Gimbab at some other places may taste too strong and overpower the seaweed. But it wouldn't happen here. Love this place and would keep coming back as usual.

The food was good but the service was very poor. As the only Caucasian family in the restaurant one felt very paranoid that you did not belong and were not welcomed. The exceptionally poor service didn't help. It's a very small place yet the wait staff never bothered to look over and scan. They never once bothered to look in our direction. Actually had to get up to ask for a beer, a napkin etc. The food came out in a totally random order. A long wait to get the appetizer and the small dishes and when they came with everything at once. Overall they really didn't care whether we come back or not. So we won't. There are way too may alternative options. The quality of the food (average) just doesn't balance the service level.

I eat most Korean foods here for few years until last month I happened to walk in the lichen to change my order... I found it was dirty and messy....walked out of there... No more comments on this restaurant.. Dave P

I finally got my girl to try Korean. We came here for lunch and were pleasantly surprised. When we entered, the first thing I noticed was that the majority of the customers were Korean/Asian. This was a good sign. Although the name would lead you to believe it to be just another wannabe, this place is good. I would recommend ANY of the lunch specials, especially the "box" items. There is plenty to eat. My girl was especially impressed with all of the little 'sides' that came to the table. She tried all of them, and liked most of them. I am pretty new to the names on the menu, but the short rib was bangin'. We plan on returning more than once. Personally, I want to try everything at least once.

Pretty sure I encountered all 10 of the Korean people living in Westborough when I ate here the other day, which is a good sign in my book. Its a little dingy and leaves a bit to be desired in the cleanliness department, which reminds me of home! Food was okay, but better than most of the local alternatives.

We live in Shrewsbury and dying to get some good Korean food around the area rather than driving to Boston, so we decided to give this place an try 4 weeks ago. First off, I was extremely excited to try this place out based on the review on YELP, when we enter it wasn't that busy about 3 tables for dinner, the server give us the menu looks tentative I was impress. However, that impression slowly fade away, we told our server that it was our first time here and ask for a couple advise he did provide some good items so we decided on ordering the BEEF BBQ, a couple of appetizer and I order some seafood soup. My BF dish came out however server didn't handle him any scissors or folk to eat the meal and he have to use chopstick and hand to split the meat we thought maybe that the way to eat it...but we was wrong other tables around us receive the scissors to cut them and we didn't for the BBQ dish.. my bf ask for the scissors but he was ignore..we didn't make a big deal because he was hungry and indulge it anyway....by the time my bf and a friend that came along finish their main dish am still waiting on my seafood soup... and I realize a couple tables that came after us got their main meal already but I didn't so I ask the server he told me they are still making it WTF?? even though the tables come behind us got their main dish???.. Anyway I try to keep my cool and got my meal eventually..overall, the server was very bad, my food didn't come in on time, we didn't have the proper utensil to eat our meal, their was no napkins on the table, and server didn't really care about our stay... After our meal because of the services I decided to give them only 10% tips compare to my traditional 15-20% my friend who tag along got really upset didn't want to give tips but I figure they did serve us and it would be rude not to do it..so I did it through a credit card....Guess what happen... the server stop me and told me why did we give only 10% he stated traditionally is 15-20% I almost lost my cool but politely told him we were mistreated, I didn't get my meal on time and your asking for more tips WTF??? at the end of the day this place is a joke....I wish I can get my tip back but it was on a Credit Card...at the end of the day I wouldn't return to this place and good luck to whoever do.

Good food fast served in generous portions with many sides. Service was a bit less gracious than typical American restaurants. Pretty classic Korean fare. The gojoogang (red pepper sauce) is a bit mellow, but the dishes impress the uninitiated, while the restaurant filled with mostly Korean patrons. Try the dol sot bap or hot pot or bulgogi if you're new to Korean dishes.

I grew up with a dad who is a classically trained french chef trained at the CIA. To say the least, I ate well. To date this was the most flavorful meal I have ever eaten. Phenomenal. Really that good. Place was packed on a Saturday and rightfully so.

We made a reservation on NYE, which was completely unnecessary, but, being NYE, it seemed prudent not knowing. I had been to the other Korean place down the street (one of only three times I've had Korean food and found it to be edible but not amazing, but it set a standard that left me surprised this place was so much for of a diner that a restaurant for NYE. Ah well. We went with it. When we got there, they were DELIGHTED we were the people who called ahead, like nobody's ever done that before. I cannot say for sure if there's any truth to my theory. Mr. Champion was pretty insistent about not liking Korean food but he was also happy about not having to make the "what's for dinner" decision so he went less reluctantly that you'd expect. Still, he concurred that it smelled amazing when we walked in. The booth we got wasn't totally clean and I could see him formulating his terrible opinion in his head, but it was maybe a little my fault in that we were being seated at a perfectly clean table and I asked for that booth. While we waiting for our friends (double date! :) ), we decided to try one of each of the two Korean beers, Hite and Ob. They were terribly watery lagers that we compared to Bud Light and Michelob, respectively. And now I kn ow to, in the future, avoid Korean beer. We also were immediately serve hot tea which everyone else cried about wanting sweetener but not asking for it but I quite enjoyed. Our friends came and we ordered appetizers: spicy rice cakes and pan seared dumplings. Oh. My. EFFING. God. I had ever been ambivalent about whether or not I liked Korean food and Mr. C, well, you know what he thought, and I'm pretty certain, without discussing it, it was the moment of the first bite of spicy rice cake (which was more like a gnocchi than a cake) that we simultaneously decided we both love Korean food and that, until this moment, we had not ever had Korean food worth loving. He gobbled up the largest percentage of rice cakes while I had moved on to the dumplings which were also... um... yeah. So good. Our friends also seemed to enjoy every bite. For entrees the three of us shared some sort of sweet fried chicken entree, a sweet and sour shrimp dish, and bulgogi (beef Korean bbq - which was like a lettuce wrap), and, of course, in Korean fashion, all sorts of little dishes of pickled this and pickled that came out. The sweet items were very good but I wouldn't have chosen them myself and the bulgogi. oh god. The bulgogi. oh god. At the end of our meal our lovely server (so really, she was this adorable older Korean women with broken English) brought us our cheek with some fresh cut cool chunky orange slices which were a perfect end to a nearly perfect meal. I am glad to have chosen this place. I will be back. Like, a lot.

Had takeout here, and tried one of their specials - Cold Buckwheat Noodles with Vegetables ($20ish - it came in a sizeable tray that could feed 4 people at least), and Boocho Jap Chae, and an order of their spicy fried wings. The cold buckwheat noodles were great- but definitely a slow spicy burn so be prepared! The chicken wings were an interesting take. They were fried chicken wing with the spicy sauce partially dripped over the wings. Jap Chae was good, but not sure I would pay up again for this special version (supposedly it has more chives on it, but it was basically the same for me).

I finally tried this tiny place in Westborough...right down the road from Sapporo which I had a few months back. Now barring winning the 5th consecutive annual award for 'Most Creative Name for a Korean Restaurant in Westborough'...you really should try this place. Some positive points: Chicken Bulgogi...who knew? It has a different sauce than most Beef Bulgogi, being a bit more spicy...and I have to say, I was a big fan! Nice change of pace! They offer a huge selection of kimchee...some are good, some I could take or leave...but plenty of options there. They just don't give too much of any, just enough for a table to share and try. (I am sure you can get more tho...) I went with the Dolsot Bibimbap. The 'Dolsot' indicates that the bibimbap is served up in a stone bowl that could melt your face away, aka Raiders of the Lost Ark. It's so hot, it will actually crisp up the rice at the bottom if you don't start stirring it all up. Some people dig it...but I think I am a regular bowl kinda guy. They also offer the leaves of romaine lettuce...to make some great wraps in! Just bind up some rice, kimchee, bulgogi and whatever else you can get in that thing...and wolf that sucker down. Now cover your face with a napkin before the whole place makes fun of you. The pajun wasn't as good as other places I've had, (yay Woo Jung), but all in all the food there is really good...and the tiny place is full of Korean people. Which I am thinking is a good sign for a Korean Restaurant.

Love this gem of a place in Westboro. Yummy and very affordable food..It is by the Roche Bros grocery area in westboro. I usually order the bibambap. With that, it comes with tons of variety of side dishes (veggies) to go with the meal. Such a nice change to your traditional meat and potato meals...

I come to Shrewsbury a lot, and being Korean, I often crave "real" Korean food. I'm so happy to have found this place so close by because it was exactly what I was looking for. No pretentious atmosphere and friendly waitstaff. But aside from that, the food was delicious, and the side dishes (banchan) were impressive. My boyfriend is very particular about what Korean food he will try let alone actually like, and he LOVED the ddukbokki (spicy rice cakes). I had the jaeyook bokkum (spicy pork) and budae jigae (kimchi stew with ham/pork/noodles/tofu). So good and tons of food...happy to have leftovers. I'll be back again!

The food is amazing!!! The staff is very friendly and willing to go accommodate. The wait can be long, but it is worth it. The fish was impeccable, spicy, flavorful, authentic, and very fresh. Although I tend to stick to kimchi dishes, their food is so delicious. Highly recommend it!!!!

FANTASTIC! mashita! fresh, real home cooked Korean food- great service, my waitress was awesome because she was Korean but also very American in that she spoke English and lived here for over 20 years and did not just cater to the Korean customers- which happens in many Korean places.Bibim Naeng Myun bugogi and chapche were yuummmmy... Korean pancakes- kimchi- phenomenal... a must try! so glad I don't have to go to boston/Cambridge for great Korean Cuisine!

I apologize for not remembering being here the first time. However, as soon as I was parked and walking up the stairs to this trailer-like restaurant, my memories started rushing back. Yes I remembered this place. I remembered the counter. I remembered where I sat that first time. I remembered the delicious hot tea. And I remembered the food. The sides were PLENTY. And my spicy tofu and pork lunch special was at least 2 portions! Oh, and of course I ordered an appetizer. I didn't intend for such a big lunch that turned into a good leftover dinner as well. But I did intend to have a good meal, as I always do, and that did turn out well. Every dish was very savory and delicious. Korean spicy (also Indian spicy) is real spicy. I loved how their sauce kicked my taste buds so hard I almost doubled over. Okay, not that bad. But I had to take out all those giant red chillis before digging in for more and packing it to go. This restaurant is now imprinted in my brain. And if my brain fails, it is imprinted on my Yelp review page, so I will make sure to make more visits for other yummy dishes.

My first time ever trying the Korean food and let me tell you was not disappointed at all... have tried other places but does not compare to the food I had here... Would have given 5 stars except the service was very slow even though the place was not really that full.

From the outside it looks like a trailer, parking is street only. This will not change the fact that Westborough Korean Resteraunt is my favorite go-to for Korean food. The only down side to this place is that they do not have the built-in stoves for "do it yourself" Korean BBQ. Their BBQ is already cooked and served on the sizzling skillet. So if you are looking for the DIY part of the BBQ fun, this is not the place for you. Their Bibimbap is AMAZING. Fried spicy squid with a spicy dipping sauce is out of this world. Everything about this restaurant is fantastic. It's a family owned and operated restaurant, so it has that really down-to-earth style with servers and hosts. They have a great variety of side dishes, as well as soups. This is a great example of a hidden gem; Koreana in Somerville and Chung Ki Wa in Medford doesn't compare to the price, service and food quality of Westborough Korean Restaurant. I know it's waaaaay out in the 'burbs, but if you are a foodie like me, you'd drive an hour for good food. Don't forget, they close on Tuesdays.

What the hell happened to this place??!! My first two times here were great...the service was top notch. We were immediately given those cute little trays of veggies and appetizers, and given hot tea. Yesterday, I felt like I walked into a different restaurant. Our waitress was horrendous. We were given cold tea...when we told her the tea was cold, she said, don't worry it's boiled. You won't get sick. WTF? IT'S COLD TEA THAT IS MEANT TO BE HOT. I did not see the owner anywhere...wondering if the service just sucks when she is not there?? Then, after 10 minutes, we actually had to ASK the waitress for the standard little trays that they bring out when you arrive. I can't believe how long it took and didn't understand why we had to ask for it when the last two times I was there they brought it out immediately. When they did bring out the little trays of food, everything tasted very stale. The nuts were stale, the tofu was not hot. I think it had been sitting out for hours. Then, when we were ordering, I asked for what I always get...the fried rice and tofu. I asked them if they could make mine with tofu instead of meat. The waitress said they could, but they might charge a few extra dollars. I told her the last two times they had made such modifications without charging more...but she said they do this now for the extra work. I have no idea what happened to this place. We do not intend to go back after last night. So disappointed.

I'm always very skeptical of Korean food that isn't my mom's. This place is the only one I've been to that I can say is better. My husband and I love coming here, and do so quite often. I highly recommend the vegetable scallion pancake, jap chae (the one with extra scallions, I forget what it's called), kimchi fried rice, dolsot bibimbap, and any of the hot pots.

This was the first Korean I'd ever had. Afterwards I would seek out a few Korean spots closer to where I live. They would all be disappointments compared to this. Your entree will come with a large assemblage of pickles and Korean trimmings; candied peanuts, pickled, um, tofu? Maybe some assorted peppers? Honestly it was all so foreign looking that I can't tell you half of what it was, but there were a dozen bowls of it. The marrow soup was also... wait, did I just say marrow soup? Hell yes I did. Get the marrow soup. Rice cakes were classic, spicy Korean style. Long rolls of rice dough in a peppery sauce. Huge portions and the price is right! Afterward, if you're looking for the best package store in Massachusetts, Julio's is a five minute drive down the street.

Who knew there could be amazing Korean food in downtown Westborough that was this good? Totally unassuming place without any fanfare. But when you walk in and half the patrons are native Koreans, you know you are in for something authentic. Large menu with tons of choices. The panchan is top notch. The three different entrees we had were very flavorful and large in portion. Definitely going back.

I keep coming back because it is so authentic, delicious and spicy. I have had Spicy Goat Stew (Black Goat another name), Dolsot Bi Bim Bap (surprising good), Boodeh Jigae (Korean Army Base Stew - see picture), Beef Bulgogi, Chicken Bulgogi, Gaibi and Boochu Jap Che. All the ingrediants are fresh with great Korea spicy sauces. Not your westernized versions of Korean meals and that is what makes it special. Very friendly service. Really consider their box lunches - even if only for take out - my coworker said they were jealous!

I guess we still have a sentimentality about this Korean "Diner"... however, the service has gone downhill. Our sense of humor about it all keeps us going, but I've witnessed other patron's valid complaints/issues/questions handled very poorly by the staff here. It's easier to have a sense of humor when it's someone else. So when I tasted that old chicken in my dinner, I felt obligated to mention it. It's never fun to complain... and in this case it was pointless to try. Therefore, if you have a problem with your food and feel justified, just leave a note and do a walkout. Never look back. Trust me, I complained, paid in full, left a barely touched plate of food, was clearly not understood, felt the sting of that + hunger, etc. It would have felt better to leave a note rather than money. :) I guess I'm glad we can go back, but maybe you don't have to...

Way too much food for two people. I was very happy with my dish and my diner partner was as well. Greeted with a smile and was made to feel as if I was family on my first visit. Haven't had a chance to return but looking forward to getting back there. Little difficult to get there, but we all need to practice our parallel parking.

A Korean restaurant that makes awful kimbap.. Other than that the food is ok. Added 15% tip to the after tax total to the bill without even notifying us. AND MARKED 15% NEXT TO THE 'TIP' ON THE CREDIT CARD SIGNATURE SLIP. What do you want? An additional 15%? We asked and their answer was: THREE PEOPLE IS A HUGE PARTY. Great job guys. You just lost a HUGE PARTY OF CUSTOMERS. And let me tell you, that's going to be more than the three of us.

This place was packed. That's always a good sign. The banchan selection was nice. The kimchi and namul were good. The tempura sweet potato was a bonus. The dumplings were pretty good. They are fried though and I wish they offered steamed. The chicken bulgoki was pretty good. It was the usual gochujang/onion/scallion stir fry served on a sizzling plate with lettuce wraps, bean paste, etc etc. The service was was rushed but efficient. It was very very busy. From the outside the place looks like a white shack with weird plywood blocking the door (probably as a weather guard). Don't let this deter you. This place is definitely worth checking out.

I had lunch today with a friend at this Korean restaurant. The food was excellent. We shared an order of the pan fried dumplings to start. My friend had BI BIM BAP and I had Samsun Jambong - seafood, noodles in a spicy broth. The service was fine while the atmosphere is just average, the food makes up for that shortfall.

I've been coming back and I think while my experience with takeout was meh, this place is much better when you sit down and have a meal. The service was noticeably worse this time, even for an Asian restaurant, but as long as the food is good, I'm happy. I'll be back!

I used to go to this place a lot because I always like Korean food. I grew up near Korea and my grandma made Korean style food for me when I was little. Now I am far far away from her and the Korean food could bring the nice memory back. The food they provide are OK, but the service was obnoxious. The waitress was not nice nor kind. She is very out of patience when taking the order. The waiter is worse. It looks like he is very reluctant working in that place and he is always unhappy. One night past 9PM, I and my parents went to the restaurant very hungry. When we step in, the guy busy doing some counter work and the place was empty so we just find a place to sit. After a long waiting the waitress came and told us that man did not want to serve us because we did not greet him when we came in. I did not know what they are implying. But that was certainly just ridiculous. My parents were pretty happy at first t and this made them pretty sad. So rude as they are, I never went to that place after and will not go in the future too.

Met up with a former colleague to catch up. We ordered the seafood hot pot for two. There was a whole lobster in it! The amount of food was huge as were the condiments. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The setting is diner like. I would not come back for a couple of reasons: the setting is not conducive to talking business, and I didn't like how my clothes smelled when I left. My sensitive nose causes me to deduct a full point.

Very good choice for a BYOB restaurant. WKR offers the most abundant collection of side dishes. The seafood pancake was very good. The soups were good, but lacked a little spice. Bugolgi was good. The panfried mackerel was outstanding. Service was very friendly, especially considering that the place was packed. ... I am rarely that far out of town, but occasionally it may worth the trip.

I'm addicted to the gimbab. We went here for my Mom's birthday and ordered a table full of food for 2. We LOVED it all. Our server was kind & gracious as we navigated the menu. I have been back twice for the gimbaba appetizer & bulgogi. You will not be disappointed!

I am not sure on how I feel about Westborough Korean Restaurant. There is a bit of comfort in finding a purely Korean restaurant out in the middle of Westborough. I had not expected it and was very excited to try it on one of my business trips. But from my experience, the only positive thing is that they have a decent selection on their menu of authentic Korean foods. The service was really bad on a couple notes. When the restaurant gets pretty busy, they get overwhelmed. One person in the kitchen, one person waiting tables. They get so frantic, it is like the proverbial chicken with the head cut off. Bad to a point where they could care less if you are pissed off - they just don't care. Secondly, I came here with a group of non-Koreans, and I saw the waitress pass up our table and prioritize another table that had come in 20 min after us. Only after I started speaking Korean to her, did she become a bit astounded and then started to pay more attention to us. I asked her why she took the order and helped the other table before us even though she kept us waiting for 20 min. It's because you were discriminating, weren't you? No answer. Luckily it was so busy, I don't think that she had any time to spit in our food. Food wise, the restaurant cooks food just like my mother made. My mother was a horrible Korean cook. And she acknowledged it. So growing up, she made us Mexican food. The kalbi was overcooked and tough, as well as being burnt and greasy. Other dishes that we ordered were lackluster as well. I would go into the details, but it would be like showing an F student all of their F grades. Overall, I would only recommend this place if you are dying to have your Korean food fix. Most Koreans cannot go for long without authentic Korean food, even if it is bad. My parents used to frequent a really mediocre Korean restaurant for 10 years to get their fix, since it was the only place near. Then they got so irritated by the fact that the quality kept dropping, they switched to Chinese food. So -1 star for the service and -3 stars for racially discriminating against your customers.

I was so happy to have found such an authentic place outside of Boston. They have rice cakes, black bean noodles & dolsot bi bim bap; OMG! Love the amount of sides of course. I cannot wait frequent this place more often and finally bring my man there. He doesn't know what he's missing.

Quality Korean food at typical prices. They are very Korean as others have pointed out. While you can't do your own bulgogi, they do an excellent job with it. The side dishes are varied and excellent. They had things I had not seen before. I'd definitely come back to explore more dishes.

You can smell the sesame and garlic a block away, and that's a good thing. We should have booked, because this place was packed on a Saturday night. We waited for nearly an hour for a table. But the food was well worth the wait. Oh yum, I love Korean food, and this place really hits the spot. The service is nice too. We will be back, again and again.

Previously, me and korean food did not get along. At all. Like, even a little bit. However, as time marches on I find myself liking things that I used to not stomach (Hey there broccoli) so when Korean came up as the restaurant of choice for a NYE dinner, I was reluctant, but decided to give it a whirl. I was hooked from the second I walked in the door. The smell wafting out of the kitchen was enough to make my mouth water, which it did on cue. The place physically is pretty small, but with plenty of room at each booth/table. At least, until they start bringing out the food. We had a booth, and 4 people. We ordered 2 appetizers, and 3 main courses. By the time we got to the main courses, the table was overflowing with pickled condiments, and dishes. It was awesome. The apps we ordered were spicy rice cake which was like a spicy korean spiced gnocchi roll, and some dumplings. The dumplings were awesome, but the spicy rice cake is what will have me coming back for many years. They were beyond delicious. We ordered some bulgogi (beef) for the main meal, and some other fried shrimp and chicken style dishes. They were all very good, but the bulgogi was off the charts. The meat was flavorful, the lettuce crisp, and all in all it was my favorite meal. I feel like you can get whatever type of korean dish you like here, even if it's not on the menu. I seriously have a crush on this place now, and will be back. A lot. I suggest you do the same.

Right off the bat - this would be a five star review if the service wasn't so dreadful. We (a party of four) watched nearby tables who'd come in after us order first, and tables who ordered after us get food and banchan first. Also, I had to nag the server multiple times for a refill on either my tea or water (never got either one). The food, though - the food is FABULOUS. We got the water dumplings to start - nicely full of meat and crunchy veggie bits, with a sesame and chili sauce. There were a full dozen banchan dishes, all seemingly homemade, and very fresh and flavourful. I had come for the black goat stew and gamjatang (pork spine soup), though, so onwards we went to the main course. The black goat stew was AMAZING, every bit as 'transcendent' as the rumors I'd heard called it. BIG pieces of goat, fresh kale and watercress that cooked in the boiling soup, rich garlic and chills - it was unbelievable. It was a big bowl too - I took it home and ate two more meals from the leftovers! The gamjatang was also a stunner, delivered with the clear noodles uncooked on top and festooned with black and white sesame seeds. The flavor was everything I'd hoped for - so strongly spicy as to bring tears to my eyes, and yet so tasty I couldn't stop eating. My other dinner companion had gotten the soondobu tofu, and as much as I adored my goat stew, I might be getting this when I go back. It was the biggest bowl of this I've ever seen - it had to be an entire block of tofu. Plus egg! It was rich and savoury, perfectly hot, and a magical dish for a cold, rainy February night. Even given that this place is forty-five minutes from me, I will be back.

There are only two Korean restaurants around the area. So take your pick: Westborough Korean or Sapporo. I had a craving for kalbi, so I came here for lunch and ordered the kalbi bento box which included kalbi, 2 pieces of kimbap, fried dumpling, noodles, and white rice. The kalbi was drenched in an overly sweet syrupy sauce. Gross! Um, I prefer my meat entrees to not taste like dessert. The banchan was mediocre. I appreciated the free refills. My favorites were the tofu and lotus root. The kimchi wasn't fresh and had a terrible after taste. My friends enjoyed their dolsot bibimbap. I didn't order it because I can make the dish at home. However, I can't cook kalbi over an indoor grill or I'll set the fire alarms off in my apartment.

The bf and I love this restaurant and it has become a trusty place to eat for dinner & movie night. The prices are great and the food is always fresh. This is a family run place and it shows by the amount of care the servers give to each customer; everyone is always super friendly and you can tell they are genuinely happy for your business. My go-to item is the dolsot bi bim bap ($9.95!!!). An iron bowl sizzling with rice, pork, and fresh veggies...what could be better! (If you don't like the burnt rice left at the bottom, save it for me...it's the best part! haha) The Korean dumplings are also very good and can be steamed or pan-fried; they are flatter and longer then the Chinese-style ones most people are used to and come with a spicy dipping sauce. The barley tea they serve with meals is one of my favourite teas; so light and refreshing with an almost wheat-like hint...I must search for it next time I am at the Asian grocery store so I can make it at home. On top of it all, they give an unusually generous amount of banchan...12...no matter what entrees you order on the menu! The restaurant is quite small and can get very busy at dinnertime, especially Saturday nights, but if you get there before 6.30 you should be fine. Also, parking is only on-street but it is free in Westborough and there are numerous spots around the restaurant.

I must go here 5 times a month at least now. Pork belly stir fry is fantastic.

Recently moved back to the area and was happy to find this korean restaurant. Kimbop tasted just like my mom's, the ohjingah boekkum was spicy and flavorful, the bulgogi was great, and my mom said the soon dae guk tasted just like HER mother's. One appetizer and 3 dinners to go, complete with banchans and tax was $55. That was for 3 adults and we had leftovers. The banchans were fresh and delicious. We had an assortment of dubu, kimchee, oi kimchee (cucumber, my fave!), korean potatoes, sauced peanuts, vegetables, eggplant, and others. There were a lot of little banchans! All entrees came with steamed rice. The place was packed at 6:30 on a weeknight (Wednesday) with a mix of couples and families. Ours was a to go order and was done and ready for us within the promised 20 minutes, fulfilled by a very friendly woman. Another young man serving kept asking if we needed anything and even turned the AC on when he saw that I felt a little warm and was fanning my face. With delicious food and a friendly caring staff, this place is going to need to expand soon! :) I cannot wait to go back and get the dolsot bibimbop among the many, many other dishes such as the goat stew, dak bulgogi (chicken), kalbi, etc.

they serve soondae here! although it's not packed as well as i like, it still tastes pretty fresh, which is especially hard to find on the east coast in my experience. great amount of legit side dishes and bright atmosphere. i got the kimchi sundubu soup and it's about as good as a kimchi sundubu can get. their spicy rice cakes (dokbokki) were cooked well, not like the chewy kind but the kind that's cooked just right. overall, it's not too far from what i'd expect from LA's koreatown. prices are higher compared to koreatown, but hey, there's not much competition out here. place is a bit small, but it can definitely fit big groups while still having a lot of booths. we went in with a group of ~10 sitting all together, but the establishment probably wouldn't be able to handle 2 groups of 10.

Oh Westborough Korean. How I've missed you. Of all of central Mass this is the only place to get authentic Korean cuisine. Located in downtown Westborough past the rotary (or round about, where ever you hail from) its right on the main street across from a car dealership. The view is not great but then again I'm not usually looking out the window for a pleasant view. I'm usually busy chowing down to be bothered with much else. Easy to get to and quite the gem when visited. The interior is a bit on the smaller side. In total I'd guess the place could seat about 20-25 people? Its not huge, but then again the place isn't designed for a large group anyways. Seating can be a little hard especially if you're going around the peak lunch and dinner times. You will end up waiting and there isn't a foyer you can wait in or anything, you just have to tough it up and stand there watching people eat the yummy food in front of them. The staff is fairly attentive but its hard to avoid you so its guaranteed you'll at least see your server and get their attention if they're busy hustling around the store. Their food is mouth watering good. The spicy rice cakes are delicious. I'm not a fan of spicy food (like chili or peppers) but absolutely will dive in those suckers and stuff my face. All of their soups are always made to order and can tell they put some effort into making them instead of just slapping some pre-made slosh together for you. Their lunch bentos are fantastic. You get everything you normally get plus all of the sides you always get with any meal. Its a lunch feast! The regular dishes you can get are always delightful. The Gochujang jjigae which my girlfriend gets all the time is delicious. Again not a spice fan but I still enjoy a huge pot (yes usually comes in a pot that is on a stone that continuously cooks it as you eat) of this boiling wonder on occasion. The Bulgolgi is always tender and so much fun to eat, since you need to piece it together like a taco but has lettuce instead of a pita. The servings are huge and I always leave with leftovers which is a nice perk since I love their food. If you ever have a chance to trek out to Westborough I highly recommend visiting this spot for some genuine home cooked Korean food.
