The frist time I went here was a couple of years ago and I found the restaurant rather average. Last night I returned for a private function and was more impressed. We started with a cheese platter and bread with olive oil then had a choice of beef fillets, eggplant or chicken. I had the chicken which was not Peter Lugar's but still good. Dessert was a choice of two cakes, both of which were good. Both were moist and flavorful. The servers were friendly and the room we had the function was very nice and private but it did take a while to get coffee at the end of the meal. So overall 3.5.

Went today for lunch. Had been for dinner and wanted to try a lunch. It was GREAT. The pace is relaxed... they don't rush you. Today we sat in the bar area. We had the: Rollatini Melanzana egg battered eggplant, herb & garlic scented ricotta, prosciutto, pomodoro sauce 8.99; and the: Panzanella baby greens, capers, tomatoes, torn focaccia, Vermont goat cheese, red wine vinaigrette 8.50; and the: Salmone all Griglia Atlantic salmon, red & yellow beets, fennel, baby arugula, Yukon Gold potato hash, pine nuts, orange vinaigrette 19.99; and - Filetto Balsamico 5oz. pan-seared filet, roasted vegetables, balsamic vinegar sauce for 15.99. For drinks we had Arnold Palmers - lemonade and iced tea, the lemonade is freshly squeezed and bottled sparkling water. It was really good. No complaints. It has been consistent and the staff VERY accommodating and professional. Calm. Attentive. If you want something just ask. As I have said before - the other locations are not as good a fit for us, we liked, loved, the old location at The Mall at Chestnut Hill - but this is as good as you get. We are very satisfied. Yes, some call it a chain, but we like it better than Legal Seafood and other 'chains'... I personally like it as much as Capital Grill and find it priced better and I also find that they are much more accommodating. Great neighborhood feel.

Atmosphere very nice. Waiter Mr. gill was awesome. Liked the veal parm and antipasti. Steak was average at best. Made a mistake by ordering non-Italian that night. Beef carpaccio was not what we were expecting for 2nd app! Great deals for Managua Monday. Will be back again for veal parm. Marinara was oh so good.

Went to bar around 4.00 pm. Bartender not particularly friendly. Bartender threw bottles in trash, making a great deal of noise. Bartender was more interested in having conversation with other workers instead of attending to customers -- noisy conversation with restaurant staff is not why we are sitting at the bar -- quiet time. Kitchen staff dumping bucket of ice into containers -- making a huge racket. Not a great experience. No wonder the bar was empty and so was the restaurant around 5.00pm

Average Italian food, too pricy, and service is nothing extraordinary. Garlic! They do have gluten free options which is nice. Bar is full. Parking lot is busy. Takeout is 40min. Lots of garlic!

Nice ambiance if you are into the pretentious white table cloth sort of lunch. Had the chicken salad club which was tasty and not overly filling. The bartender/waitress was cheerful and attentive. Typical sort of experience you'd expect whilst dining in Swellsley

this has to be one of the most awful Italian meals i have ever had. Bostonians claim to know Italian food thanks to the tourist trap known as the North End, but in reality they don't. the fact that they have supported this local chain through the years is evidence enough. my quattro formaggi pizza was terrible, it looked like pizza dough dripping in a bath of grease. the pasta dish was no better, swimming in butter or some kind of grease, flavorless "pancetta," and rabe that was so tough you couldn't eat it.

A mediumly classy place but it can be very hit or miss and is a bit too pricey for what it is. Not the best bread either.

Papa Razzi in wellesley is our go-to place for standard italian-american (we tend to do take-out, but have eaten there a few times). Papa Razzi has an OUTSTANDING repertoire of GLUTEN FREE options - and they're ACTUALLY legit gluten free. my wife has real/legit celiacs and this is one of the few places we can eat that doesnt make her sick. and by 'few places we can eat' - i mean they consistently prepare good-quality, gluten free food and her stomach has never ever hurt (which is actually hard to find - even in restaurants that claim GF). they serve great GF rolls and their GF chix parm is pretty awesome. in short - my rundown looks like this: food quality = excellent consistency = excellent value = good staff/service = excellent wine list = fair GF options = excellent (and they are real/legit GF) only thing i dont particularly like is their tiramisu...i think they put lemon in it or something which (imho) makes it taste a bit off... aside from that we hit up papa razzi about 2-3times a month. the food is consistently good and the service is great!

I ate here as a spectator during the marathon to get out of the elements. I was pleasantly surprised. Very good salad and sandwich. I'll eat here again. Great environment and excellent service.

This place is terrible. This was not our first choice for dinner but we settled. The restaurant we originally planed for the night was closed because of the big snow storm. We went out for dinner because my boyfriends brother was deploying over seas. We were a party of eight and had made a reservation so I'm not sure why they were unprepared for our party. It looked like a well functioning restaurant until you sit down and realize there is a ton of staff standing around but none of them are doing anything. The kitchen staff was dancing around in plain sight of patrons and it was uncomfortable to watch while not being served. We had one server and he couldn't care less about our table. He was very slow, sloppy and inaccurate at keeping drinks on the table. None of the food came out at the same time and mine sadly got cold while waiting for everyone else. Worst was that someones food wasn't made at all and we waited while the kitchen staff danced around and slowly made his meal. I ordered a very simple chicken piccata. It was small and the chicken was over cooked. The saddest part of this is that it is a chain restaurant. If you want to pay a lot of money for an Italian dinner. Go to an authentic restaurant, not this sad pathetic excuse for a restaurant.

I recently went to this restaurant on a Saturday night. The service was unbelievably slow and poor, to the point were you gave up asking anything additional from the wait staff. The waiter went through this elaborate show to prove he could memorize everyone's order, including special requests. Only he got one of the orders wrong. My farther ordered risotto with shrimp, but got risotto with chicken. In the end, he ate the meal, because he didn't want to wait another 45 minutes for it to get replaced. Advice to management:: 1. Cut the showmanship and deliver guests what they order. 2. Offer better service. Guests should not wait 45 minutes from their starters to their main courses. 3. Equip your waiters with pens and note pads. You can buy them from Staples down the street.

Great restaurant I went to the other night the food was very good. Cooked well and tasted great. The service was great from the managers to the valet parking. My server was named Collette she did a very good job with us. You could tell she had been doing it for awhile. She did a great job very kind and attentive and also made sure our order was taken care of. Defiantly coming back soon!

We had an excellent dinner here. The staff is properly trained, the atmosphere is inviting, and the food was authentic Italian done right.

Food was average and too expensive for what it was but I would have been ok with the place if the service had been even average. Our server was very nice (the food was slow to come out, which I don't think was his fault) but I happened to be in a high traffic area and a close fellow diner had his chair particularly far from his table, so I tried, by positioning my chair, to cut off the path to other tables to minimize the times I was being slammed into. One server in particular seemed to take it as a hostile move and did everything she could to slip through the crack bumping my chair every time she passed - even after the manager came and apologized and promised that the waiters would use a completely empty path on the other side of the table. Who needs that while paying for dinner? Wished we'd just eaten at home or gone to a more service-oriented restaurant.

Meh. For what i paid, i expected a Bolognese that didn't taste like it came out of a can.

I just love their food. They have a perfect amount of flavor, and I feel like a lot of Italian restaurants make their food somewhat bland. Whenever my family goes here and the four of us order something different, we always love every order on the table!

One of the best sangrias I've ever had! I had one of the specials, which was a dish with striped bass, pickled artichokes, fingerling potatoes, and capers. The fish was nice and fresh, but cost more than I expected from Papa Razzi. It's been a while since I was here, so I guess prices have really gone up over the years. Service was very good. Our waiter was very attentive. I also liked the patio seating.

Usually I go here with coworkers at lunch time and sit at the bar so that we can be in and out quickly. The food is good, and when we sit with the bartender as a captive audience we can have a decent lunch in a quick amount of time. Today we sat at a table and I was surprised by the difference in service. I'm not really ever a fan of rude waitresses giving me attitude on my lunch break, and she never smiled and treated us like we were going to run out on the bill. We aren't teenagers, we are a group if young professionals. Maybe splitting the check made her nervous, but I will probably pass the next time my group decides to go. I wish I had stayed at the office and eaten at my desk.

We recently hosted a 75-person party and I am more than happy to say that thanks to the attention to detail and willingness to help of everyone at Papa Razzi Wellesley, the party was perfect! Tim Devaney in the function office couldn't have been more helpful, accurate and communicative and Siobahn and her staff at the restaurant were attentive and friendly. The pizzas were amazing (especially loved the 4-cheese ones), the salads fresh and tasty and the bartenders did a great job of keeping everyone happy. The room is perfect for the number of guests we had and was set with pristine white table linens which the staff kept clear of used dishes and glasses. We highly recommend Papa Razzi in Wellesley to anyone wanting a great place for a large party.

I went there last night with my boyfriend to celebrate my Bday. I had made reservations. When we got there, they had some confusion as to where to seat us. Finally we got seated, but no waiter came. After almost 15 min a waiter came who was just not having a good day or she did not like us. Instead of asking us anything her first attempt was to remove the extra silverware from our table. She did not remove it from the places that were not occupied but removed it from where we were sitting. Anyways she left and took another 10 min to come back. Now we ordered our food. She did not tell us the specials and was in a lot of rush. She basically ignored us through out the even. Our appy was v good. But the main entrees were a diff issue. My boyfriend liked his meal but mine was not good at all. The chicken pieces were rubbery. We wanted to get more dipping oil for the bread but since no one came by we were not able to. Our meal ended and she did not ask us if we wanted any dessert or coffee. Just plain....All done! We got our bill, paid and wanted to get the hell out of there. I will NEVER go back to this location.

Food is not great. Service is always great--nice servers, friendly, helpful but the food is not great. The wine selection is decent. I come for drinks after work and avoid getting food unless I am starving.

great place! we came here last week for some italian and had a good time. i like the decor, a lot of dark wood and it looked fancy. we got the meat pizza to start with, which was great. and i got the chicken parm, which was huge! i am not really in this area often, but i would go back. service was nice as well.

I expected so much more from this place! Waiter was very slow and took forever to do anything, when this place wasn't that busy. Prices were about right, but the food just was ok. If I go here again then I will get something different to eat and hopefully I won't get the same waiter again! 2.5 stars

My wife and I have been to the other Papa Razzi's in the Boston area and have always left satisfied and happy. The service has been great and the food very good. The Wellesley Papa Razzi is a completely different story. This could be one of the worst restaurants we've ever been to. The service at the bar was absolutely horrible and the food wasn't much better. We got two pizzas to share which took 30 minutes to appear and when thy did they were both ice cold. The bar tender had asked if we'd like these pizzas reheated and we politely asked for new ones. The new ones didn't taste much better. We could barely get the attention of our servers. They were more interested in watching the game, socializing with each other and I assume their regulars. My wife and I will never go back to this location (there is a phenomenal location in Framingham - about 15 min away) and I'd recommend everyone to avoid.

Not gonna lie, I love this chain restaurant. I go with my bf every so often when I want to indulge in a huge meal. The fried mozzarella appetizer is a must try, it melts in your mouth! The bread is also great. I usually get one of the lightly breaded chicken dishes and have enough to take home for lunch the next day. Also, the service is always impeccable. It was our waitresses' first night and she was perfect! My one complaint is that the dessert portion was way too small. We split a dessert and they gave us each two tiny slivers of cake. Oh well, next time I'll just get my own cake!

Saturday May17,2014. I and my son ordered the special this evening, Osso Buco. We tried some and could not eat it. It was so over salted to the point of being uneatable. One would think that the kitchen would ensure that this would not happen. We were not charged for the dish, but it was a great disappointment on a very special occasion.

A chain trying to be upscale and overcharging for mediocre food. Not impressed, and reminded me why I avoid most chains in the first place, especially "Italian" ones (the parents took the boy and I out to eat, so it wasn't our choice). The boy's steak and greens were both incredibly bitter tasting. My panko-crusted shrimp was bland, and the accompanying risotto was watery and flavorless and devoid of the lemon or asparagus promised in the description. The dining room was loud and chaotic, and the waitress was competent but very unsure of herself. Also, I got the wrong leftovers (fortunately it was someone else in my party's, unfortunately I did not discover this until today's lunch). On the plus side, I liked the cocktail I had (Blueberry Lemonade) and the fresh moz covered in prosciutto app (although how do you mess that up?), as well as the warm starter focaccia. And the parents seemed to enjoy their own meals just fine (pasta with sausage and chicken picatta- I tried the pasta, and was not impressed at all). Really though, for these prices I know I can get an amazing meal elsewhere at a local, non-chain restaurant, so there's no reason to ever come back here unless the parents are footing the bill. And even then, I think I'll put up a fight (how can I not when Italian places like La Morra are similarly priced but soooo soooo much better?). Blech.

This location has been bad over the years for food quality. Went there last night. Ordered pizza and eggplant parm. Pizza had a bad taste from the cheese they used. It was too salty and undercooked as well. The eggplant parm would have been fine but was also too salty. Breadsticks and focaccia are always good. I wont return to this location.

Excellent customer service and stand-out food! It's a "scratch" kitchen so they can basically alter anything on the menu or just make something new altogether. My personal favorite dish isn't on the menu anymore but I get it every time I go! A nice restaurant to go for a special occasion, but not so fancy you feel underdressed in nice jeans. One of our favorite restaurants!

Dinner on Sunday night was far below the usual pleasant experience my wife and I have had in the past here. I had a piece of salmon on a salad that must have been frozen, and then overcooked. My wife had a pasta with chicken dish that was served in more of a soup than a sauce. The chicken was overdone. I've used this location for lunch frequently, and have always had a good experience. For our next casual Sunday dinner, we won't be going here!

Horrible horrible service! I have never been angrier with a waitress. From the start, she had an attitude with a very clear expression of displeasure for even the simplest request. Glasses of water were constantly empty, things were constantly repeated for her, our entrees took 50 minutes to arrive. My party of 9 and I were there to celebrate a birthday. When discreetly asking for the cake, she had the nerve to say aloud, "I know, this is the 7th time I've heard about the cake." She ruined the surprise and her down right attitude put us in shock. I've never been so disgusted.

This is quite a contrast from my last review, so this is an addendum of sorts. This place is a hot spot for many in the area. I used to frequent here often, but after my last couple experiences I haven't as much. I recently went here for my wife's birthday on a week night after work. The service was extremely slow, inefficient, and the server lacked personality. Even after mentioning it was my wife's birthday there was no recognition, no candle, and a utter disappointment. We arrived at 6:15 and left after 8pm, and we weren't wasting time since we had my 17 month old with us. Even ordering was a task. We got our second round of soft drinks after we finished our meals, which were mediocre at best. On a side note, a family member who also used to frequent the place went here with friends a week ago. They went early, there was no one there and asked to be seated away from the kitchen. They were seated in front of the kitchen, could barely hear each other, and were refused when asked to move. They were told other areas the empty restaurant was reserved for reservations. After others were seated there with no reservation the manger has told them "oh, she's a regular..." Finally, I'd like to say this place used ot be great. I used to have all of my functions here and it was always a great experience. Lately, there has been a few snafus that seem to be more frequent. I always keep an open mind but is so disappointing when you see a local place go from a local favorite to an utter disappointment. I'll try again soon, and hope it was just a bad couple nights!

Good clean setup, mediocre food, but service is non existent. Most of restaurant was empty, server was goofing around, would never show up. No bread until asked. Drink refills absent. Very slow time to cook food and food quality was mediocre at best.

portions are enormous, so this place is great for sharing dishes. food was tasty and good, but not over-the-top amazing. My future sister-in-laws pasta dish was not warm, so it was clear it was sitting out and waiting before she was served. I've been to the Papa Razzi in Chestnut Hill which seemed a bit better. This place isn't bad, but if you're looking for solid, wonderful pasta dishes, go to Boston's Little Italy

Skip the bar if you are used to being waited on by engaged staff. Two female bartenders had the demeanor of prison matrons and kept themselves busy with everything but the patrons. Pasta ok but pizza was the equivalent of pita with tomato sauce .

Bottom line: get the Chicken Parmesan with linguine. I went to this restaurant 2 days in a row with two different business contacts (second time wasn't my choice, but I went along with it). First time, I had a decent dish. Second time, had the chicken parm. very very good. The service was attentive both times. They never let my water get empty, which is a plus in my opinion. It's quite affordable, especially for lunch (in Wellesley), and deserves a 5 star rating as a result.

I generally like the Papa Razzi chain, perhaps because I wouldn't know it was a chain by the atmosphere, service and menu. This week, I was meeting a business colleague for lunch. I arrived first and was given the option to wait or get a seat. When the hostess noticed that we had a lot of files to look through, she moved us to a four-top, nice. I like the menu. I didn't like the Pasta E. Fagioli soup, but maybe it's supposed to taste like that. The spinach salad with baby spinach tossed with fresh strawberries, shiitake mushrooms, goat cheese and white balsamic vinaigrette was as delicious as always, with yummy, fluffy goat cheese. Even though the restaurant was busy, our waiter tried not to bug us too much while we were talking. Happily, he was easy to find for coffee and with the check. Again, appreciated. I definitely consider this one of my favorite restaurants to take clients to for lunch, or to meet my husband for a reliably delicious dinner.

The Good: The food is great and prices are reasonable. The Bad: The bread sticks suck. The Ugly: Parking is an absolute abomination. I went here for lunch on a Friday and you would have thought this was the only restaurant within 500 miles. Insanely packed! We had to make a reservation because we come here a lot and know how crazy it can get. The worst part of the whole experience is finding a parking spot. That area of Wellesley is a friggin shitshow with traffic. The only lot they have can hold about 20 cars. And guess what? They're metered!!! If you go there, park behind CVS and hope nobody sees. On to the food...They give you these friggin bread sticks that are basically long, skinny, dry pieces of bread and it's impossible to get butter on it. They also have olive oil on the table...Why? What is the point? You can't dip these things in it. Makes no sense. When I go to Italian restaurants, I want some decent bread. La Campania is the best for that. But I digress.. The entrée was really good and portions were the perfect size. I had veal meatballs and pasta. I really liked the tomato sauce and the meatballs were delicious. We also got the calamari for an appetizer, which was friggin good. Service was good and the food came out in a timely manner. It's also noisy as hell in there. It's kind of an open kitchen, which we were close to. On top of that there were 80,000 people in there. Overall, Papa Razzi is a decent lunch spot - if you can get to it.

Hi Yelpers, I just wanted to say that I got to finally experience Papa Razzi!! One of my closest friend and I spent a rainy afternoon dining on breadsticks, blue cups, laughs etc. I had the / eggplant panini and salad!! It was soo plentiful that I ended up taking it home!! The next day it was still dee lish!!! The waiter was so sweet, professional and helpful!! I was glad that it wasn't crowded when we arrived, the waiter Ben great!! He definitely showed that he wanted us to have a great experience!! I loved that he had a sense of humor!! I would definitely go back or try another Papa Razzi

We had a a reception and buffet for a friend's funeral. The function room and bar were set up with the buffet Set up right beside the function roo. The reception was lovely and the Servers did a great job accommodating the attendees. The buffet was hot and delicious and the deserts were aerved afterwards. All in all, we felt very well received and served with grace, Would certainly recommend this restaurant again.

Quite possibly the worst restaurant in the area. It's not because of the food, but rather all of the other aspects. Working in the area, we often have the "pleasure" of having business lunches at Papa Razzi. There simply aren't many options and this is often the default. I can only speak to the lunch crowd, but the places is always jammed with people. You will need reservations for lunch or you are looking at a 30 minute wait. PARKING IS ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. I can't stress the parking situation enough. The lot is a very small metered lot, which probably could only handle the place at 50% capacity. If you parking somewhere else (CVS, office buildings, etc.) you are likely to be ticketed or towed. I've had to cancel lunch numerous times because there is no parking in the area. Someone should clearly open another restaurant in the area to monetize off the traffic. Total fail blog here. If you do happen to get seated the food is actually pretty good. Caesar salad and chicken parm are probably some of the better offerings on par with higher end Italian restaurants. Strictly scoring on the food you are looking at score of a 4. Factor in the parking situation (minus 10 stars) and the service (minus 1 star), you'd be better off passing on this place. At least then you won't have to deal with the frustration of trying to park at this place.

I'd like to point out first - to the horrible manager - if you have even one small piece of you that's actually good at your job, you would give Abbey a raise. She was literally the only saving grace of our whole experience. However, even great service couldn't save the horror of our Mothers day experience. When we arrived there were 4 people standing at the computers to check people in but only 1 was actually working and he was checking people in AND seating them too. It took us 10 minutes to even get up to the front to tell him we had a reservation. There was one girl who looked PISSED and would walk up, look at the computer, press buttons, not acknowledge anyone and then walk away for 2 minutes and come back and do it all over again. I don't know what he job was but I'm hoping it wasn't something customer service based. The whole situation was a cluster, I was already ready to leave, but since we had a larger party we didn't really have the option to leave and go somewhere else. I should have gotten the first clue when some random guy who works there walked over carrying a HANDFUL (yes in his hand) of bread sticks, and then took the bread sticks off our table and put the ones that were IN HIS HAND in our basket and on another table. The menu is small and missing a lot of key Italian options (no chicken, broccoli, ziti!?). The appetizer options are either something fried and covered in sauce or something else fried and covered in sauce. Not many fish options on the entrees either which was a let down for me. When the appetizers arrived at our table they were small and looked like they were from the microwave. I didn't eat many of them because they overall just looked unappetizing and I also have a sensitive stomach and can't handle too much grease/oil/butter which was slathered all over everything on the table. I understand we came in with a larger party, but I really don't think that's an excuse for the entrees we got. There are plenty of other restaurants that can handle situations like this. Unfortunately for us, Papa Razzi isn't one of them. I ordered the Salmon and asked for the vegetables to be steamed with no butter or oil (because of my stomach issues). The spinach and asparagus were COATED with oil, I could see it all over the bottom of the entire plate. I didn't complain and instead just ate the cold salmon and ditched the veggies. My boyfriends steak which he asked for medium rare was about as well done as you could cook a steak without burning it. He asked if they could bring him a new steak, and it took so long he had to get it to go. Two of my sisters meals were so late in coming out that our waitress had to bring them a salad/soup to hold them over while everyone else ate. I could keep going on with what was wrong with each persons individual order but I'll just say that the kitchen did pretty much everything wrong you could have done with each meal. Our waitress felt so bad for us that she brought us out free brownie sundaes. The manager who knew about our issues, didn't come up, didn't apologize, didn't try to save us as customers at all. The food is completely overpriced - they are trying to be a fancy North End-esque restaurant but fail across all aspects. The should NOT be charging the prices for the food you are getting. If you think you're going to go to this place and get a great meal then you are fooling yourself, and I feel bad for anyone who gives this place 5 stars because you clearly don't know what good food is like. I would have given Burger King a higher rating - as least I get a warm meal.

I had a pizza craving late on a weeknight and came here because they were open late while the pizzerias nearby all seemed to be closing up. The huge restaurant was nearly empty except for a gaggle of people at the bar. I was unimpressed with the bread sticks. How about some real bread? The caesar salad I ordered was large but had a dressing that's more oily than I'm used to. I ate most of it because I was hungry. The pizza was okay. Crust was soggy on the bottom.

Have driven by for 2 years, finally decided to give it a try on a whim on Sunday night. "Greeted" by manager (obese bald man in white jacket) who was visibly and audibly rude and annoyed that we came without a reservation, although the place was quite empty. We were seated and server was nice but the food came out very slowly. Food itself was average, best part was the table Focaccia bread. Veal picatta was fine, bruschetta was totally soaked, wife barely touched her pasta, kids meal was very average cold pizza. Needless to say we will not whim to return again. Would leave the bald manager -1 star, server 4 stars, food 1 star, so final score of 2. When taken in context of other offerings on Washington St, keep on driving ....

Cool place for lunch and to watch a game. Service is a bit slow, so tell them you are on lunch break so they will speed things up. I tried the "wine flights" with Artem F. and the spicy and the chiantis were great. We ordered a salad, some eggplant appetizer that was over cooked and burnt, so we sent it back, and the pasta de mar. The portions were a good size and we split the small version of the pasta special. It was ok, nothing to write home about, but not bad.

I have to admit that I am utterly mortified that I have yet to review Papa Razzi. Why? Well, I have been here maybe 500 times (not exaggerating - I'm a VIP member at the back bay restaurant group). Since I was old enough to eat, my parents would take me here.. it's right around the corner from our house in newton. They serve my favorite meal on the planet (seriously, check my yelp review - the Scalloppine Di Pollo is my last meal on earth). Let's talk about this favorite meal of mine: the Scalloppine di Pollo. A beautiful piece of chicken breast pounded thin, smothered in Italian breadcrumbs, sauteed to perfection, topped with a perfect lemon caper sauce. And for that touch of freshness, a tomato salad w/ balsamic dressing. Oh, and you need more? How about some delicious roasted red bliss potatoes on the side. Literally, it's heaven. I probably have to order some today. In all honestly, I love the Papa Razzi in wellesley. The other locations I really don't care about... but this place has always felt like my go to spot. Sure, I have had bad experiences here.. and every time I stray from my fav meal.. I always regret it.. but I always come back. I also had my college and high school graduation parties here. They have a great private room with patio.. and both events were really fun and the food was great. I know when you think of fine dining, Papa Razzi doesn't come to mind.. but think again, fellow yelpers... think again.

I hate writing terrible reviews but last night our dinner was indeed terrible. My father mentioned something about new ownership and we have only watched the service at this Papa Razzi deteriorate. We go here regularly since it gets my grandmother out of the nursing home and she can easily access it in her wheelchair (except for the railroad tie lip outside of the front door but I digress). So we typically come for special occasions-last night was my grandmother's 91st birthday. Yeah her! Now, it might have been because the Pats were on or what but the service was abominable. And so it began....My mother called and asked to be seated by the fireplace since it's easier to get my grandmother up to the table and when we arrived we were told that that section wasn't open. That's fine except it was a section we watched fill up as the night went on (maybe staff couldn't see the game from there, oh that's mean, sorry). Ok. So we were crammed in a corner table but we made it work. Our dinner took forever and we stared and stared and stared at our dirty salad plates in front of us while busser after busser walked by looking at our table with empty water classes and plates. We finally got cleared and then our dinner came except for one, my mother's. No mention of it on it's way. So we waited. We could see our server circling in front of the cooks so we figured he was hassling them for it. And we waited. And waited. We are about halfway through now and he comes back saying, "Oh my god, i had no idea!" Awesome. Comes back a little later with my mother's dinner piping hot and apologizes. Hey, it happens. And the manager comes over and apologizes and said the kitchen didn't read the ticket right and he comped our meal. Thank you. Very kind. But ouch, blame it on the kitchen. Fine, I've worked in the industry. I get it. Thank you for pissing my mom off anyways (who has not worked in the industry). We finish and are just so thirsty! Lots of bussers, still our empty water glasses wait. Not a busy night. And now there's cake. Very nice of them to sing and bring out my grandma's birthday cake which we brought. And our server says, "Great you all have plates, you should be all set." And then proceeds to disappear again! There was a lot of disappearing. No forks. We ask for forks and the were plunked on our table all over the place. Oh I didn't mention the pile of straws tossed on our table in the beginning either. Seriously, this restaurant has white tablecloths and long stem wine glasses, train your staff accordingly so we don't think we're at Chili's while we pay $20 for pasta. Oh boy, we want coffee, not asked of us of course but again, we had to request it. Here come piles of coffee cups and saucers manhandled first before being tossed haphazardly all over the table with the bussers. Some ice cream would be nice. Oh but we need spoons for our coffee! Of course. Wait a little bit. Oh now we have spoons. Ice cream takes forever. Cake has long been eaten and then oh, look at that-here is the ice cream (also on the house)-insert busser thumb, more manhandling. Thanks. What a treat. A two hour manhandle fest. Sadly, we will probably be back because there aren't many places we can take my grandmother that aren't super loud. Hopefully the manager or owner will read this and take note but that will be after the game is over as that seemed to have priority over is flailing waitstaff. The one star, that's for the food which wasn't bad. My ravioli was a little undercooked but our food was hot, the chicken parm was massive, my salmon was delicious and everyone's tummys were happy. The saving grace to this evening. Thanks for reading.

Each dish/sauce is made from scratch. Nothing on the meani stands out, common talian fare, but the quality ingredients and exectution shine. Great paninis, gnnochi and raviloi. $$ High-end brunch menu on Sat/Sun.

I've been going for years. Papa Razzi never surprises but never disappoints. The menu has plenty of variety but the pastas are favorites of my gluten-friendly friends. My best bets are the gnocchi and mushroom ravioli. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. It manages to be large enough for short waits without overwhelming.

Ate here a few weeks back on a Saturday evening. Was headed to the movies and needed a quick bite beforehand. Arrived just before 6pm and was seated right away. There were 3 of us. Glad we got here early as the place was packed within 30 min with a wait. Our waiter was just fantastic. I even made a point of telling the manager so. I had the veal parm and it was beyond yummy. I also had a glass of white wine and shared dessert. Plenty of parking available. Just get here early if you don't want to wait for a table. The place is pretty big inside though. I hear they have a patio in the summer. Can't wait to come back then and sit outside with a glass of vino!! Will definitely be back.

This is my favorite of all the Papa Razzi. Everything just seems to taste better in this one. I am a real fan of the back bay restaurant group of which this is one of their places. Everything is made fresh to order. One of my Favorite items is the Rigatoni con Luenga ! You wont be disappointed

Well, it's been 7 months & I was reading my old Yelp reviews...and I remembered this experience... so I had to check - did they ever change the website? Did the manager supposedly "tell corporate"? Nope. Why am I not surprised? The menu online is unchanged - and it's even more clear that they would be serving LUNCH at 2 on Sunday per the website: Lunch: Monday - Saturday 11:30 am - 4:00 pm Dinner: Served daily 4:00 pm - 12:00 am Not only was she adamant about fixing the website (sure) - but also - what restaurant doesn't even read its own Yelp reviews & update accordingly? Obviously, this one. (this probably won't make any sense unless you read my initial post).

Our party has been regulars at Papa Razzi and loved it when owned by Charlie Sarkas. Now that it is under new management, we experienced a real change for the worse when we (party of 6) dined there on Sunday evening. The restaurant wasn't particularly busy so that's no excuse for the poor service. All our orders arrived except the one for the person picking up the bill. Our waiter and the manager were apologetic and took it off the bill. The food was fine. However, our server neglected to tell us the specials. I think he may have been new and not experienced. Granted he felt terrible since this was a birthday dinner. We are now considering other options.

Papa Razzi is a step up from your standard Italian restaurant chains. It was good and I'll definitely come back but it will be just a standard place for group dinners. Our server was great and one of my co-workers had a nut allergy and the promptness of the manager and the team to address this was very surprising and it made the rest of the dinner experience great. Their pasta dishes were large and were average. The brick oven pizzas were large and crispy. I had the Cabonara pasta which had chunks of crispy prosciutto. The sauce was a little dry and thick and the pasta was just all right. This restaurant is large and has a good sized parking lot but at 6pm in Wellesley, it's hard to find parking.

Normally, Papa Razzi has great, fresh Italian food and wonderful service. I think this location may have been having an off night. My husband and I had dinner here after a long, tiring day of moving. We explained this to the waitress and also that we were extremely thirsty. Unfortunately, we had to flag her down for even one drink refill. My husband ordered soup, and it came out with his spaghetti and meatballs. The waitresses looked shocked when he explained he wanted the soup as an appetizer. I had the mushroom tortelloni, which were fresh and tasty. But the whole meal was so unpleasant it overshadowed the food. .

The food at this restaurant was surprisingly good. We were there for lunch on a Saturday - the place was practically empty except for one or two other couples. Not a bad thing for us at least as we got a great table. The service was good - although we did feel a bit abandoned a few times while we were there. We ordered salads and bruschetta which were served relatively quickly and which were really very good. I was just surprised how good everything was - I'm not usually a huge chain restaurant fan so it came as a surprise. I would recommend it for families, a friends get together or just for couples. Good food, good service.

Everyone who works here is super friendly. I'm probably inflating the star rating just because I can walk here from home (avoiding the messy parking), but oh well. Really nice bar area. My gnocchi could have been a bit fluffier and the bruschetta appetizer was completely drenched in some sort of balsamic...iick. The boy and I split a brownie sundae for dessert, and it was absolutely heavenly. We'll probably be back here soon...if only for drinks and dessert!

I've never been particularly impressed with this location, but I was definitely disappointed during the last visit. The food was mediocre. I ordered a pizza and they hadn't cut it completely so it was difficult to eat. It was also partially burnt. The food the rest of my family got was OK, I suppose. The server was particularly bad. We had to wait forever for our order to be taken. We practically had to flag the server down for refills on our beverages. It seriously took way too long for our entrees to get to us. I'll never go back to this location. Papa Razzi's is my brother's favorite restaurant. We'll probably go to one of the other locations next time.

I've been to this restaurant twice and the first was fine but the most recent experience was rather disappointing if not a kitchen nightmare. I ordered the Ossobuco which was the very expensive saturday special. The risotto was cold and mushy like porridge and had no taste whatsoever. The veal was very fatty and didnt have much meat on it. Im sure if i ordered a pasta dish or chicken it wouldve been fine, but for a pricey dish like this, it was horrible.

I like Papa Razzi. Every dish I have had there has been great. Most recently I had raviolis stuffed with ricotta and lobster meat (they didn't skimp on the lobster meat either, which was awesome) in a lobster and cheese cream sauce. So good. Also, their marinara is really delicious. I have had mixed experiences with the waitstaff though. On one trip a waitress practically scoffed at getting me lemons to go with my water and on another trip our waitress had drink refills on the table before my glass was even empty. The only consistent complaint I have is the portion size. For the price, portions could definitely stand to be a little bigger. I mean c'mon, give me enough so I have some leftover for lunch the next day.

Visited a number of Papa Razzi locations and this one stands out. Beautiful decor, excellent service and the food just seems better. Very large location with nice little bar (yeah for Wellesley changing the rules to allow). Parking is tough as this is always jammed. Nice place to meet someone as convenient to highway.

Overall, a solid Italian restaurant with good food, a decent wine list, and helpful and attentive service. The place was crowded on a Saturday night, and we were seated near the open oven kitchen. It got almost too warm, which is a drawback. The decor is colorful, trying to create almost a carnival feel, which fails at accomplishing, but at least it's cheerful. Ordered the caesers salad and the veal parmigiana. I really liked the salad because the croutons are made with homemade foccacia, and are garlicky and crisp. The veal was tasty, covered with marinara sauce and some melted mozzerella. The mussels were also well done, large in size and in a yummy tomato sauce. My friends like the lobster ravioli here, which has a fancy name, and I think their only disappointment is that the portion is so small. Overall all, I thought the portions for the other pastas and entrees were generous. My friend ordered the salmon, which I am not sure I would try - it looked plain. I wouldn't say anything was over-the-top special about this place. Mostly the dinner was nice because of friends, and the food and service only added to a good experience.

This is a great option for moderately priced Italian done right. They are a chain, but don't let that keep you away. When my parents come to town, this is one of their favorite places to eat. All the salad/pasta dishes are available in half portions which provide a good amount of food for a pleasing price. I'd definitely come here with family, friends or even a date. Overall above average and good enough to keep me giving them business!

This whole night was just a joy. Delicious food and the service was phenomenal. Really great waiter! I have been going there for years now but this last time was by far the best, just because of the service. The food is always good but this time everything was perfect! Can't wait to go back!

The service was excellent, everything is made to order and they are quite happy to modify your dish to suit your tastes. I ordered a thin crust pizza with jalapenos and it was very tasty. I liked the bread sticks and butter they serve at the beginning of the meal. They also offer you a piece of focaccia bread before your meal arrives. The booths were pretty comfortable

  • Rick J.

Consistently inconsistent. There are times when service is fast, courteous, and accurate, and the food quite good. And there are times when it's not. The location is great, parking is poor, the food usually acceptable but kind of pricey for what you get,, and the service an unknown. We waited 40 minutes for our lunch to arrive on a day where the dining room was barely half full (half empty for you pessimists out there); when our food arrived, it was the wrong order;it took another 15 minutes to deliver the right food to the right table. The manager seemed as confused as we were, apologized for the delay, offered free soft drinks, and never arrived with them. Something is often "off" here, possibly dependent on which of the 5 or so managers is in charge (some are clearly more on top of things than others). In summary: Service is largely mechanical and inattentive, the pace of service can be unpredictable, parking is a hassle (the restaurant's own lot is fairly small), and the quality of the food is widely variable.

Had take out. Wrong salad, no sauce as requested for the pasta, chicken scallopini was dry with no sauce and there was no bread which was requested. Never going back.

Picture this: two suburban girls are starving, returning from a disappointing trip to the mall. They ask their GPS navigational system to lead them to a local restaurant and, much to their chagrin, the exit is closed for construction. Lacking any direction with blood sugar levels so low they can no longer sing along to their Britney Spears CD, they spot Papa Razzi on the left hand side. Relieved, they pull into the parking lot and go inside. After sitting down and deciding on pasta, they are amused by the waiter's struggle to feign an Italian accent. They devour the bread sticks as soon as they are placed on the table, one slathering on butter, the other dipping them in hot peppered olive oil. After the drinks are served, the waiter brings out their salads. The lemon and olive oil dressing works well with the parmesan cheese. Their only complaint is that the lettuce is broken up so small that it is difficult to fork with grace. When the pasta arrives, one girl's is perfect with eggplant, tomatoes, garlic and mozzarella, while the other one's pasta isn't cooked enough. She does not complain, however, until they walk out of the restaurant. She was too shy to send it back. As expected from suburban girls, they do not order dessert and over tip the waiter who, one of them has discovered, is wearing a mouth apparatus and was not trying to speak in an accent after all. They giggle as they walk back to their car, plug their navigational system back in and blast Britney for the ride back home.

BOOOOO!!! I used to wait tables at a Papa Razzi almost 8 years ago and it had the same menu but just felt classier. This one (right on the Wellesley border) the food was ok, but not great service. We were the ONLY ones (most of the time) at the bar having dinner, drinks and watching Bruins. The bartender didn't seem to care about getting us anything. We had none of the famous focaccia bread, but by the time we realized our meals were already out. She never asked if our meal was good, if we wanted another round, desert, nothing!! I was shocked, especially since the more we spend the better tip she gets. I left her 20% only because I used to wait tables, but my bf wanted to leave not much. Really sad cause food is still great!

Papa Razzi is a staple from my childhood. I used to always go with my family to the one off of Route 2. My sister, cousin and I would get our own table and think that was pretty cool. So anyway, I can't help but to feel some nostalgia when I come to any of their locations, now that they've popped up all over the Commonwealth. Probably the best chain restaurant all around - service, food, and atmosphere. This one is down the street from my office so I met a relative for dinner the other night. I think the waitress was new, nervous or both because she messed up a couple times. But it wasn't a big deal, and the manager was so apologetic, and comped the meal - which was nice and he didn't need to do that. Though I'm glad he did. Either way though, I'd come back. Their foccocia bread is so good, and the 5 layered chocolate cake - YUM!

I have been coming to Papa Razzi's for years as my favorite Italian, non-North End Boston, eatery. On average the food is consistent from one meal to the next. Most dishes are more of a hit then a miss and the richness of the meals can be very filling. If you are a vegetarian you will have to stick to salads and appetizers. I particularly love their pizza's and the mista salad. The bruschetta and the fried calamari (with hot peppers and they will make up tarter sauce for you since it isn't served that way) are definitely number one for miles around. Nice place for a special family dinner. I have eaten at other locations as well and found the same qualities I like. I hope Papa Razzi's continues to work hard to maintain their image and quality of food.

Went here for lunch today, to begin with the parking situation is a nightmare, there is not nearly enough parking. The food is very average if not below average. I ordered an eggplant ricotta app and it was frozen in the middle. For an entree I ordered a spinach ravioli in what was supposed to be a "light tomato basil sauce" it was so heavy, it tasted like a burnt meat sauce... it was gross. I sent the dish back and waited and waited and waited for my plain ravioli to arrive as the others in my party finished thier meals. The plain ravioli finally arrived, it was OK at best. Throughout the meal the service was horrible and slow. It just wasn't very good at all.

Goto place for sales meeting dinner with team. Separate room in the back with a bar. Gluten-free pasta available and sorbet for dairy free dessert of baked fruit (bananas and apples) with cinnamon and mango sorbet substituting for the standard vanilla gelato. Good salads; the team enjoyed the meal, it's close to the hotel; life is good.

LOML thought the veal was pounded a little too thin but was tasteful nonetheless. I jumped into the penne special after splitting the caprese salad and fantastic fried calamari with LOML. One of the great things about Papa Razzi is the food is reasonably priced which allows you to splurge on the fabulous wine list. I highly recommend one of the Brunello's with pasta...fantastic. The wait staff was terrific and the dining room was tasteful and comfortable. For a chain this is pretty good.

I have it on good authority that Papa Razzi recycles bread from their bread baskets, and it doesn't surprise me at all. The service here is REALLY slow--my family has made the mistake of going here for a "quick" dinner just because it's close to my house, but running out to Route 9 probably would have been faster in the long run. Their food is fairly good, I suppose, but I would much rather go to Mark's Sandwich Shop--in the same building--than Papa Razzi.

I really liked Papa Razzi. I'm not big on the chain restaurants, but I enjoyed this place. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. I got the cavatappi affumicati (pasta with eggplant, cheese, and tomatoes) and it was yummeriffic.

It is a nice restaurant with a good ambiance, but the food is just average.

Good food, and excellent service for those with food allergies. They are willing to adapt dishes considerably and are low-key about the embarrassing "bringing over the manager to discuss your special needs" thing. Gluten-free pasta is a huge plus. I like that the food is tasty and ambiance fairly nice, but you'd have no trouble being seated if you were wearing jeans.

The trend of "take and bake" pizzerias gained popularity in the United States during the early 90s. The growing popularity these two take and bake pizzerias located in Hillsboro, Oregon and Petaluma, California respectively gave the idea of a possible merger to Terry Collins.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
