Huge servings and lots of flavor! Used to order takeout from here all the time and I now remember why, more bang for your buck! Recently came back after 6 years of neglect, and we ordered the Pineapple Fried Rice, the Pork Larb, Chicken Larb, Tom Yum soup, and Thai Iced Tea. Portions were generous, even the amount of pineapple in the fried rice was plentiful. We couldn't finish the larb because there was so much meat. The soup was as awesome as I remembered, flavorful and with large chunks of meat and vegetable. Mango with sticky rice we also couldn't finish, but it was so delicious. This place was and is still amazing SWOON.

Pretty cozy environment!! Their food is tasty but not very extraordinary. Price is good especially for an expensive town like wellesley.....

Did takeout here with the sister. This is one of our favorite Thai places to eat at since there aren't many Asian options in Wellesley. Their food is fresh and delicious. They also have great service and the staff here are very friendly. I like their yellow paint and bright decorations. I really liked their Tom yum noodle soup last time. This time the green curry (which is my favorite) lacked some flavor so I was kind of disappointed. Otherwise, if you need your Thai fix, you can't go wrong with Lemon Thai. Parking here can be tricky since it's street so I usually park elsewhere and walk over. This was the first time we did take out. The food stayed fresh and warm after over 30 mins of moving her in !!

Lemon Thai is a puzzling restaurant. From my experience it has good nights and bad nights. Eating in is better then takeout, I would recommend the beef satay, or the massaman curry beef. Good thai iced tea. Watch the delivery guy, if you order drinks, they often seem to be spilled. Pros: Cheap Good location Easy place to walk in Casual atmospheres Cons: Inconsistent food Inconsistent service

My roommates and I probably should have our photos on the wall of this place considering how often we ordered from here in college. I still dream about the crispy chicken pad thai and the pad see ew when I try and find another thai option where I currently live. Delivery is usually very prompt and the staff and drivers are amazing. Everytime I am back in wellesley I have to make a stop here.

Long list of lunch specials, and all great deals. I had the chicken and mixed veggies with rice, my sister had a HUGE portion of pad Thai, that she barely made a dent in. I think the bill for lunch was only around $18. I would return. the server kept the water flowing and the food came out fast (not too fast, which I am always a little suspicious of). The veggies tasted fresh and crisp and not too greasy or saucy-goopy. It would be interesting to explore the menu further.

Great food! great service! Very quick very tasty! I got the tofu and vegetable pad Thai, drunken noodles, and the crispy rolls. Very satisfied! I eat a lot of this food at many different places this is in my top 5 probably! Deffinetly would recommend.

Not worth waiting 55 minutes and missing your lunch break because your food arrived late! Food is decent but if you can't get your act together with delivery services why offer it at all. Don't promise me 30 minutes if you can't deliver in 30. Here's a tip - under promise and over deliver .

It's okay! I prefer their pad see ew to their pad thai but I find their food to be much greasier than other thai places. When I get takeout, the oil pours out of the container. Service is attentive and food comes out fast.

It's midterm/final times once again and you're sitting in your dorm at 9:00pm either lamenting the options in the dining hall or cursing life because the closest dining hall as closed two hours ago. Lo and behold, the savior that looms in the night, Lemon Thai's Country Style Pad Thai. Words cannot describe the amount of comfort I have gotten through the years from the food at Lemon Thai. They deliver after the dining hall closes and it's always an amazing feeling when half your floor gets together and collectively orders a haul that inevitably makes all the college stress eating worthwhile. The food itself is a bit greasy at times and while others will say that it's subpar compared to nearby Amarin, I actually enjoy Lemon Thai a bit more. Delivery is always prompt and the people that work there are incredibly nice. All in all, as a former Wellesley College student, Lemon Thai is an experience. Whether it's taking a break and walking into the Ville for a nice, but still affordable, dining hall break, a late night binge session to begin your all nighter, or a group order to be enjoyed in a common room with friends, Lemon Thai provides.

I REALLY wanted to like this place because 1. I am a HUGE Thai food fan and 2. the Wellesley students that I work with LOVE it. Unfortunately, I do not quite share their enthusiasm.. I got the Pad Ki Mao which was decent but a little weird - the sauce was not evenly distributed so some noodles were totally bland, this traditionally spicy dish (labeled with three jalapenos) was not even a little bit spicy, and there was celery in it - it is meant to be hot food and, at least in my opinion, celery is not meant to be hot. It was cheap, which was great, but I guess I am too much of a Thai snob. Though it isn't my favorite dish, I am told that their Pad Thai is good, though!

Small space with somewhat eerie or creepy music. The environment reminds me of some spas I've been to, actually. On the other hand, my friends and I consistently go there to get off campus for meals and we certainly order in at least once a month from this place. For three years, I enjoyed the curry dishes immensely. Sadly, the past few times I've ordered the panang curry or red curry, I've gotten somewhat ill. I usually order it with duck (with the duck fluctuating between dry or just right). The dish that never fails (now I'm on a hard core diet :() is the crispy chicken pad thai. The Crispy chicken is to die for!

Just ordered the pad Thai and seaweed salad and it was not up to my standards. Amarin across the street is WAY better. The chicken is chewy and the seaweed salad isn't fresh. Not impressed

I was really craving Thai and soup. Thanks Yelpers for steering me here for take out. It was late and thankfully Lemon Thai was still opened. So many have commented on the Pad Thai being the best they've had so I ordered the Country Style mild. I figured I'd stay on the safe side since every place has a different hot. Next time I will go with med since I could have gone for a bit hotter. I like my chicken cut up in to smaller pieces but there was plenty of chicken and shrimp. Mr. G had already eaten and wasn't hungry but once he saw it he had to try some. Well he ate some and then I found him eating what little leftovers there were for breakfast. I didn't figure he was eating toast when I saw his chopsticks. He promises me he will get me another order but I think he is really saying he is getting another order. I also got the Tom Yum Noodle Soup which had lots of ground chicken, noodles, bean sprouts with a great lemon grass broth. The noodles came in a separate container which was nice that they didn't get soggy. Since it was so late there were parking places right up front. It only took 10 mins from the time I called for my order to be ready. They do deliver but only in Wellesley, Weston, Natick, Needham and Newton so it looks like I will be drive over for my next order. They have many options to pick from which may pose as an issue. Hmmm Create your own stir-fry from 11:30-4 for lunch, soft shell crab, curry dishes, I also love basil fried rice. Ok so maybe I will be going more than once more time. The place is a bit small on the inside so I can see how this can be more of a take out place but it did have a cozy feel which was welcoming.

Sometime you get decent Thais food here, but occasionally, the food gets REALLY bad! Last time I was there, the Chicken Graprow was by far the worst I have ever had at any Thai restaurant across the entire Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states. The shrimp salad is usually pretty good.

The food was mediocre and the service was horrible. We were seated promptly, however there were 3 servers loitering around and they didn't even bother asking us for drinks or water. After waiting for 15 mins or so we asked for someone to attend to us. The food came out promptly, however our dinner plates did not :) hence we waited again and asked for plates...to our surprise the server thought we just needed 2 plates when it was 4 of us seated (go do the maths) and needless to say we waited again to get the servers attentions and asked for 2 more plates. So finally after 20 mins we were able to start eating....yay!!! So bottom line - if you have half a day to eat one meal then please make sure you visit this place :)

Papaya Salad, crispy spring rolls were average - nothing too special. Crispy pad thai was drenched in fish sauce, if only it had veggies, very blan

Delicious. Try the Yellow Mango Curry. The flavor is unbelievable! Best Indian I've had. Seriously.

  • Loran S.

The staff was pleasant, but the food was really not good. I had the "crispy" chicken pad thai. The noodles were sickly sweet, coated in a syrupy glaze. Vegetables were hard to find in the giant pile of noodles. The chicken was greasy. My companion had beef with macadamia nuts which sounded like it should have been delicious, but really was not. Very disappointing when we're splurging on dinner out.

I used to rave about this place, especialy the takeout. However, I have found that the takeout is way better than the food in person. I love the crispy noodle pad thai. I have also tried the mango fried rice and that was okay. The prices are excellent and it's great for families.

Good for when the college dining hall is closed. They deliver and know all the names of the dorms! I always order shrimp pad Thai, and occasionally spring rolls. It's about $10 for the pad Thai, but I get two meals out of it. They skimp on the meat and go heavy on the bean sprouts, but it's one of the cheapest meals in Wellesley.

    (3)
  • Amy M.

I'd definitely recommend eating on-site (rather than takeout). I enjoyed my first experience here, and the wait staff was very friendly despite the near-empty dining room. In that sense, you'll never have to wait for a table, which can be rare for dinner spots on a Friday night in Wellesley! You can find meat AND vegan options, both of which are pretty good. The takeout, however, seemed lesser-quality, like it had been sitting around in its container for hours before it reached me. That made for a greasy, glued-together mess.

This is our go to take out Thai food place and we love it. The food is consistently good. We've ordered enough over the years to have a short list of favorite items off the menu and we stick with these. We love their pad see ew, fresh rolls, crab rangoons, satay, fried rices and stir fry. And these dishes are consistently prepared as we expect them. It's very reasonably priced and fast.

This place has been my go-to delivery place for the majority of my time in college. I'm one of those types that once I find something I really like I can eat it almost every other day. Their General Gau's chicken with white rice and sweat & sour sauce is just that for me! Unlike some of the other Asian delivery places out there, this place is reasonably priced for the great quality and large portions you get. I also don't believe they have ever been late for a delivery and sometimes are able to make it over shockingly fast. I've got one year left in school and I wish I could leave my school's meal plan for a meal plan with these guys!

Awful customer service. The hours are clearly stated as closing at 10pm, yet they refused me dine-in service at 9:42 pm.

Lemon Thai is my very most favorite restaurant in the whole wide world. Let me start off by recognizing that it's not fancy nor is it going to be the best food experience you will ever have in your life. However, there is something about this place, probably a mix of delicious food and good memories, that makes me crave Lemon Thai at least a few times a week. Their food is SO. GOOD. While a student at Wellesley College, I ate there at least once a week, usually more, which says something about their affordability. The way they make their crispy chicken (that tops their Crispy Chicken Pad Thai and their Indonesian Fried Rice) is really unique and really delicious. Not overly breaded or fried, just the perfect amount of crisp. Both of those dishes are favorites for my husband, and for almost everyone else who I've taken here. For appetizers, I love their chicken wings (fried wings with some kind of crack-infused flavoring that makes my mouth water) and their Tom Yum soup. DO NOT OVERLOOK their Beef Thai Noodle Soup. The soup base for the beef (which is different for chicken and pork) has incredible depth of flavor, and I have never ever been able to find a Thai place that even comes close to replicating this perfection. One of the highlights of my time in college was Lemon Thai. Since I've been out, the past 8 years of my life have been incomplete and sad without constant Lemon Thai accessibility. If you can, take advantage of it.

Good Thai food at a reasonable price. Is it the best Thai food I have ever had? No, but it is still above-average, tasty Thai food. I have been to Lemon Thai many times, & I have yet to be dissatisfied with my meal. I typically order their Pad Thai (country style), which is a slightly spicier Pad Thai, & I always enjoy it. The portions are also very generous, so I almost always have leftovers to take home. The staff is nice, & service is prompt. I have never had to wait more than 10 minutes to receive my food.

    (4)
  • Christina R.

Out of all the Thai places I have been to, Lemon Thai is by far the best. Prompt service and great food (although at times the pad thai can get excessively greasy).

  • Ariana Z.

As a college student, I always order Lemon Thai late at night. I always order the pad thai because I can't get enough, though I wish I would try something different on the menu. When I was a vegetarian, I always ordered the tamarind tofu, which actually still is a favorite of mine. Because I order delivery, I can imagine some of the flavor is lost and tainted by the Styrofoam trays. It still is decent enough that I continue to order it but some days it tastes a little more funny than usual. None the less it still is a great place and I love the delivery guy.

  • Kelsey T.

Best take out place in Wellesley! I always order when I'm in town, and would order more if I didn't have a meal plan at school. The Pad Thai is the best I've ever had. Other good dishes are the crab rangoons, scallion pancakes, star noodles, and yellow curry. One tip is if you want something spicy, ask for it extra spicy since they tend to skimp on the spice. Also I'd recommend take out or delivery since eating in isn't anything special, though I do hear they let you bring your own wine, which is unusual for a dry town like Wellesley.

This probably would have been a 4-star review if I had not lived in California or had takeout from that place in Arlignton, VA... But it's the go-to Thai take-out place for me and my brother-in-law when my sister has to work nights and leaves us to babysit her lovely children. It's solid Thai food at an outstanding price. The flavors are nicely complex (doncha just hate it when its just salty soy sauce and fish sauce?), often with lots of basil and a hint of lemon to brightenthings up. The Country-Style Pad Thai (lunch $7.50/dinner 7.95) or Crispy Chicken Pad Thai (7.95/8.50 are the way to go -- don't get the regular one; it's kind of bland. The Pad See Eaw (7.50/7.95) is nice, with a subtle sweetness in the flavorful sauce (but I don't think it is MSG). For the price, you get quite a bit of chicken and a few big pieces of shrimp. My brother-in-law loves the tartly delicious Tom Yum Soup ($3), but I prefer the addictive Tom Kha Soup with the magical flavor combo of coconut milk, galanga, and lime ($3). The B-I-L also loves the Hot Basil w/ chicken option in the "Creat Your Own Stir-Fried" part of the menu, and I'm always happy to help him out. The chicken is never overcooked and the vegetable not too overcooked. The Pad Kee Mao was just okay. It is usually my favorite Thai dish, so I have high expectations. I do appreciate that you can get brown rice or sticky white rice here instead of white rice for a mere 50 cents. (Editorial note: I think all Asian restaurants should offer the brown-rice option, especially if it is sticky brown Asian rice, which is so delicious you forget it is good for you.) Their "hot and spicy" is kind of mild for out Korean tongues, so if you want to kick it up a notch, be sure to tell them. Upon our request, it comes out spicey enough to please us without drowning out all of the other lovely flavors. It's good Thai food--it's just not the best. And it doesn't quite satisfy my hankering for that Thai food in Arlington, Virginia...

I ordered takeout. The crab Rangoon was runny which is something I've never seen before. The pad Thai was dry. I don't know how people are raving about it on here. The drunken noodles were ok. The basil fried rice was good. The highlight was the Penang curry. I would order this again. It had the right amount of spice to hit the spot.

As a vegan Wellesley is pretty limited and not exactly with the times in terms of healthy and delicious food. That being said, Lemon Thai Cuisine offers a variety of vegan dishes which you'll find in almost every Thai place in the USA. I had the Massaman Curry with tofu which I would describe as "okay". My wife had Tamarind tofu which was a bit more flavorful. The ambiance is sub-par but acceptable. I am happy it is located near my home and I am thankful they do not overcharge for their dishes. I will definitely be back.

  • David L.

After reading Yelp reviews about Lemon Thai, I was hopeful, but after an entree of red curry with shrimp, I was left underwhelmed. Maybe I should have ordered the pad thai instead, but the service was average, the presentation weak (an additional plate maybe, instead of just a big bowl of curry?), and the ambiance nonexistent. Maybe I'll give it another try, but nothing special.

Just had a wonderful meal at Lemon Thai. Great prices, variety, service and atmosphere! We went to eat here at 8pm on a Friday night and did not have to wait for a table, although the place was filled with customers. One of the best parts is that you can bring your own bottle of wine for no charge. Other BYOB places sometimes charge a "corking fee," but this place does not. Score! The mango friend rice is great, soups and salads are tasty, and my husband always gets a duck dish and they are always fabulous. The tofu dishes and appetizers (crab ragoons and spring rolls) are great too. We left there stuffed and our bill was only $35. Best of all is that we didn't have to wait in line or deal with Wellesley's crowd. Parking right out front and bring your own wine. What could be better? We will definitely be going back. It is nice to have dinner in a restaurant where you can actually hear the person you are dining with.

Reasonable suburban Thai. They have crispy pad Thai (which may be unique to Boston?) and it was definitely up to snuff.

Our whole family loves Lemon Thai, including 2 and 3 year olds. The service is always great and we have never had a missed dish. Very flavorful and the menu is extensive.

Great Pad Thai. The food tastes fresh and I have yet to have a bad meal from here. If you are in the mood for Pad Thai then give this place a try!

  • Julia J.

I didn't like their food at all. It was very oily, and I felt sick after eating that much greasy food. Had the pad thai with fried chicken on top. But too much noodles and not enough veggies/ meat. But it was convenient if you are spending your day at the library writing research paper like me.

So its a beautiful warm spring day, decided to check out a restaurant with my family and a friend in Wellesley. Found this spot and was pleasantly surprised. Good prices, pretty good food and we left pretty happy. The tofu squares were kind of boring, but the crispy spring rolls were decent and the fresh rolls were pretty good. I ordered the Crispy chicken Pad Thai and it was pretty good. Overall worth a visit.

Lemon Thai offers reasonably priced Thai food in the Wellesley Square area. They deliver within Wellesley and Natick and even on a weekend night, service is generally pretty fast. Like most Thai restaurants they have an extensive menu and though the vegetarian offerings are a bit limited most entrees can be made without meat upon request. We consistently order the pad thai (country style) and the red curry. The flavor of the pad thai is always good but sometimes we've found it to be a little greasy. The mango fried rice is also good. For starters, our favorites are the scallion pancakes and fresh rolls.

My name is Erika and I'm a Curry-a-holic. There are days when I cannot concentrate on the task at hand because I am in desperate need of curry. It's a burden, but one that I gladly suffer through. When in the Wellesly, MA area for lunch, Lemon Thai Cuisine is a great place to fulfill those curry cravings. We've enjoyed an afternoon meal here twice in the past few months...hubby orders the red curry with beef and I have enjoyed the panang style curry with shrimp. The veggies are crisp, the proteins have always been cooked to perfection and they don't skimp on the goodies! Flavor-wise, the yumminess blends together like a well choreographed dance. The portions are perfect for lunch time (still looking forward to having dinner here), and the value is excellent. If you're a fan of Thai iced coffee, this is the place to get it. I'm also addicted to coffee (don't judge me), and I would never steer you wrong when it comes to caffeinated joy. The service is prompt and friendly and the atmosphere is casual, yet comfy. I'm going to stop now because I'm making myself hungry....and I'm too lazy to drive to Wellesley tonight.

Not really thai food, pad thai had chinese spices in it and no peanuts.

Not particularly impressed with this place. Whoever wrote the review saying THE best pad thai must either work for the place, be friends with them, or not have eaten at too many thai restaurants. So far I've eaten their Pad Thai (country style), and Pad Kee Mao. The Pad Thai tasted ok, but it was swimming in a pretty sweet sauce, which just struck me as a bit heavy handed for this type of dish that isn't typically saucy. I ordered the country style because I love spicy foods, and this had virtually no kick to it. So in short, don't believe the reviews that say this is the best ever...its ok at best in my opinion, and might satisfy a Thai food craving, but will most likely not leave you shouting its praise from the hill tops of Wellesley. The Pad Kee Mao was also ok, but I had a few issues with it. One, the brocolli tasted very fishy, which struck me as strange, and put me off. The noodles were often stuck together, which just showed me they didn't put a ton of love into it...again, similar to the Pad Thai, its preparation seemed a bit heavy handed, whereas better places will take their time to make sure all the ingredients fair pretty well through the cooking process. Also, it was rated very hot and spicy, but still had virtually no kick to it...maybe the Wellesley residents are just more 'delicate' than your average folk ;) All in all, I'd say this place is simply OK. Certainly not deserving my praises, but not bad, so I gave it 3-stars.

  • Mya T.

Lemon Thai is a great place for decent food and a reasonable price. Although it is not the best Thai food I have ever had, its pretty good and the portions are huge. I got it delivered, it took like 30 minutes or so, the delivery man was very nice, and my food was hot and yummy. The dished here are not very spicy, even if the say they are, so if you're looking for a kick you need to tell them, and if it is dinner time be warned that the curries don't come with rice, so you have to make sure to ask, but its only a dollar extra so its not too bad.

  • Rose H.

I don't want to say this, but Lemon Thai is overrated. Their food isn't anything special, at least as far as vegetarian options go (that's all I've tried). The pad thai is decent, but pretty greasy. The best part of this business is the man who delivers (an owner, I think?) to all of Wellesley College, and perhaps does their nighttime deliveries everywhere. He is incredibly sweet, and always brings free bottles of water or some other little extra. Another good plus I'll give Lemon Thai is their hours - they're accept delivery orders till 10:30ish, and they deliver pretty quickly. Could be later, but for the Wellesley area, it's great! To sum it up: I'd give the service 5 stars, but the food only deserves a couple.

    (3)
  • Robyn B.

Love the fried rice, and their Pad Thai is awesome. And the delivery service is so handy! I always go here with my family whenever they come into town. Yes, I've had better Thai food, but as far as options go in Wellesley, this is a great choice.

  • YJ C.

Decent Thai food. However, their chicken always tastes a bit gamey, and their flavor leaves a bit more to be desired. They do delivery, which is fantastic. However, if you have the option of dining out or takeout, I recommend Amarin (which is literally across the street from Lemon Thai) rather than Lemon Thai. Amarin has very good Thai food, at similar prices.

This is a really good Thai spot that I hit when I visit my old man. They are tasty, affordable and quick with delivery. The I got the mango curry with shrimp and was very happy with it. Not super cheap, but a good deal considering the surrounding area. Bonus: They have some non-Thai appetizers on the menu. Drawback: No papaya salad on the menu.

i waited to review this place because i wanted one last taste before i could review. well, what can i say? i've been eating here as a wellesley student and after going back with a more refined palate, i still have no complaints. however, i will say this: CRAB RANGOON. Yes, it's a disgusting mesh of cream cheese and imitation crab meat but if i ever knew i couldn't get this anywhere on the west coast, i would have hoarded it even more. this time around, i made sure i ordered it and happily enjoyed each and every oozy delight of salty/sweet, crispy/soft medley! the scallion pancake is also pretty rare in west coast thai places, though i have seen it once or twice around LA. the chicken in love sounded cute so i got it but it's basically just chicken in peanut sauce. if you like peanut, you'll like the dish. i give most of my 4 stars to the beloved crab rangoon!

  • Jenn S.

Lemon Thai has THE best Pad Thai I've found! It is the perfect blend of sweet and savory. The owner knows us and always gives us free apps or drinks (even though we don't really like Thai Iced Tea - it's started to grow on me!), and the waitstaff is always extremely friendly. We don't mind the drive out to Wellesley if it means eating here!

Country style pad thai, golden triangles, crab rangoons, and thai tea. For the price and location, can't be beat!

  • Iannis R.

The yellow curry is good for the run, If you're around Wellesley having some fun. But if you want some pad thai or some good chicken pho There are def better places to which you could go. Both were quite bland, and the service was rude As our waiter seemed to have a bad attitude. I know pad thai well- but it makes for a bad mood Telling us that no sauce exists for our food. Instead of lying, just say with a pout That you had a busy day and just ran out. Pad thai has sauce on it, not just bland noodles. And that's all we have to say about that. So toodles!

one of my favorite places i have ever eaten! If you like thai food this is the place to be! the service is awesome! they know me by name now so it's nice. the pad thai is to die for!!! I always ask for extra of the sauce it comes in but it is so good either way! also the steamed dumplings are amazing too! and the mango and sticky rice is a must try too although it is seasonal! Love this place so much, such a great place!

Lemon Thai is your pretty standard thai restaurant and delivery place. The delivery is prompt and the service at the restaurant is attentive. The decor is cheery & pleasant enough, but not a reason to dine-in, IMHO. Lemon Thai has some really tasty dishes. I recommend the Star Noodles (similar to Pad See Euw--but better than the dish they call by that name), Massamun Curry, and the delicious Steamed Dumplings and dipping sauce as an appetizer. Mmmmm. The Pad Thai and Fried Rice are also nice, but at this point I order my faves. I'd skip the fresh rolls and the wonton soup and coconut soup. Also, skip the sticky rice. It's a very small portion and comes wrapped in saran wrap--ewww. While Lemon Thai is better than Coconut Thai in Wellesley, I think Jamjuli in Newton and Rice Barn in Needham are better. Then again, Lemon Thai is cheaper and delivers!

This is where my love affair with Fried chicken Pad Thai and Thai ice tea began. It is just the best. Their customer service is always consistent and when you order for take out they are always prompt. Last but not least, the sweet sauce that accompanies the Pad Thai is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!! I still have not found a Thai restaurant in New York to compare. I miss you Lemon Thai!

Average to slightly-above-average Thai food, decent prices, and good service. No coconut rice, sadly. Pad thai is addictive. Tom kha gai soup slightly below average but still tasty. Macadamia beef was really tasty--a dish I've never seen anywhere else. Worth a visit if you're looking for a solid, affordable dinner near Wellesley.

I LOVE places like this! My partner and I decided to take a day trip to the burbs. (it's kind of like going to the zoo for those of us that live downtown) After hangin in Wellesley for a little bit we searched for a place to have some lunch...and what would you expect in a fancy suburb?....awesome cheap Thai food?....never...but yes! Lemon Thai, as soon as I can find a reason to get out to Wellesley again you will be toward the top of my dining list!

Lemon Thai opened sometime my Freshman or Sophomore year of college at Wellesley. It quickly became a late night staple for all students on campus. It's one of the few places in town that delivers and offers sizable portions for very reasonable prices. The Country Pad Thai is one of my favorites- the chicken is fried and comes with a sweet/sour/spicy dipping sauce. Something not on the menu that we used to order all the time is the Indonesian Fried Rice. So much goodness mixed into one huge platter. Also the thai iced tea is a must. It helps wash down all the sticky rice and noodles in your system. Although I graduated in '05, I've been back to visit friends and cousins on campus. When I went back in '07 for a visit, I saw the SAME delivery guy waiting at one of the dormitories and he looked at me and said, "hey! long time no see, you didn't graduate?" I was so glad to see he's still a regular fixture on campus.

Pretty good - got takeout delivery. Ordered the Rama Garden with noodles and the Ginger Stir Fry with rice. Was hoping they'd mix it up for us but not so much. Also wished the Rama Garden had more peanut sauce (oooooo peanut sauces...drool...) but it was good anyways. Delivery was fast also which is always nice.

Lemon Thai is some of the best Thai food I've had. The crispy chicken basil and chicken in love are my favorite poultry dishes. Last night my GF and I shared the basil fried rice with beef. It was spicy deliciousness (heart burn victims beware). The first time I went I had seafood ( mostly shell fish) and was really surprised. The fish was fresh tasting and spiced to perfection. The service is fast and attentive, and the prices cannot be beat. This is a cozy, romantic little date spot. I recommend it for anyone.

Decent Thai restaurant. The service is friendly. The decor is simple. The prices are very reasonable. I got green curry and my friend got the shrimp and chicken pad thai. The curry was tasty, the veggies in it were fresh, and the shrimp was plentiful and not those itty bitty shrimpy shrimp that some places serve. My friend liked her pad thai, though it only came with two shrimp. Portions were just right. Nothing to go nuts over, but a perfectly good place to grab lunch if you're in Wellesley, want something tasty, and don't want to break the bank. If you want really good Thai food in Wellesley, go to Amarin of Thailand instead.

Love this place. I ate lunch here every day last week. I had the duck green curry twice, both times delicious. The vegetables were fresh and crisp, but I asked for HOT HOT HOT and got mild green. oh well. The Rad Na was delicious and filling. Had some flat noodle dish that was more spicy with basil, too... also good. Friday I'm going to go for the pad see ew. YUMMMMM The food comes quickly, the service is very friendly, and the thai iced tea is smoky and delicous.

This is my go-to takeout place in Wellesley. Generous portions, fast delivery time during the week, consistent taste and quality, friendly staff, and relatively affordable (compared to other takeout places in the Ville). I always order the Indonesian Fried Rice and the Shrimp Tom Yum Soup, and this usually lasts me for at least 2 meals. The best part is that both dishes are hot upon delivery, and the soup comes in a microwaveable container, so I can easily heat it up the next day! (it's the little things that count).

Lemon Thai has a place on the very short list of things I miss about the suburban yuppie-haven known as the town of Wellesley. Amid the shops selling couture baby clothing and $700 stationary there stands the restaurant that carried me through many a night of studying and proved a faithful and reasonably-priced alternative to dining hall fare throughout college. My experiences with and standards for authentic Thai food are perhaps nonexistent, but LT always hits all of the right spots on my American palette. I haven't had better Pad Thai since moving to Somerville (not even from the Lemon Thai that's coincidentally down the street from my apartment)--the Country Pad Thai, Crispy Pad Thai and scallion pancake are especially good, and the Thai iced tea is really yummy (although I seem to be the only person on campus who never got any free delivery swag). For those who aren't a big fan of noodles I would recommend the Beef Macadamia (the name is pretty self-explanatory) or the Chicken in Love, which, in addition to having an awesome name, is comprised of crispy fried chicken served in peanut sauce.

I used to spend $80/month on delivery here. 2 deliveries a week added up, but it was worth it! Never really bothered with eating in the actual restaurant, cuz the delivery is always a fast and happy transaction. Except for the time when the deliveryman asked my super senior classmate: "You're still here?" lol

Lemon Thai is a bit overrated, I think - yes, it beats the dining hall food at the colleges in the area, but that isn't saying that much. It also gets another boost for being considerably cheaper than lots of restaurants in the Wellesley area. The restaurant is very homey inside - like you couldn't tell from the Comic Sans MS Signage - and is pleasant but fairly blah. The food is also pleasant, but fairly blah. I usually go for the crispy chicken pad thai, which is tasty, as are the spring rolls. Good if you're looking for a sub-$12 meal in Wellesley, but not worth a trip from more than, say, 5 miles away.

Not as good as Amarin of Thailand (which is just a block or so away, and is in the same price range). They win points for having delivery (even in the snow!). Mostly it's just a generic thai restaurant I'd say. I do have to second the recommendation for Crab Rangoons. Cream cheese and faux crab and it's fried. Don't think about your heart health, they're too good to pass up.

My favorite ethnic restaurant in the area. The food is delicious and cheap! The staff are friendly. My favorite dishes: country pad thai pad thai pad kee mao basil fried rice beef & chicken satay tofu triangles golden bags yum talay mango withsweet sticky rice Curries are pretty good. And the thai ice tea is a must try! Prices are unbeatable! Love this place!

Thursday night. 9pm. Where to go? Well, Wellesley shuts down pretty early and we didn't want to drive very far. So....we decided on either Lemon Thai or Cafe Mangal. You can't go wrong with either choice. But because we were in the mood for something light, we opted for Lemon Thai. Not surprisingly, it was not crowded. I like the atmosphere at Lemon Thai. Lighting is appropriately dim. And the lemonish colors of the place make the darkness striking. It's cool. Wait staff is always good and attentive. I opted for a favorite -- vegetable pad thai while date had some kind of curry dish. Mine was really, really good. Loved the extra shallots. And about half way through I realized it wasn't as light as I thought it would be. But that's OK. It was very tasty. Perhaps would have preferred it a little more dry. But I can't complain with the taste. I'm not into curry but my date was happy. Oh yeah, we had the little fried pork dumplings as an appetizer. No surprises. Just tasty. Wait staff couldn't have been better. They were right on. All in all, it was less than a five minute drive and in less than 15 before we were eating. How can I complain? I cannot. I recommend it.

can it get any better for wellesley? i was visiting my friends in town and my one of my friends is thai and if she liked it, it must be pretty good. we went with the following dishes: tofu triangles - just ok yellow curry w/ beef - only delicious basil fried rice - never had this dish before but it was hit pad thai - i've never seen anemic pad thai - no red coloring ... but come to find out from my friend, that's how pad thai is supposed to look. great flavor! pad woon sen - i haven't had this dish in a long time but i think it'll become one of my staples the fifth star is that they deliver! who wants to go out in the winter weather or for our reason - convenience sake=baby.

I really think the greater Boston area could use better Thai food. The stir-fry methods were rather 'flat' and the flavors did not speak out as well as I would expect a Thai restaurant would be. Had a pad thai and a particular lemon chicken or chicken stir-fry. In any case, not particularly memorable.

If I went to school around here, I think this place would become a standby for me like it has for so many. Working down the street from this place, I just discovered it during lunch yesterday. No complaints here. A lot to choose from, quick service, and very attentive with the water. Prices aren't bad. I had the Fried Pad Thai, which was interesting and delicious, but not sure I'd try it again. I would go back for some reg. pad thai, or their lunch specials.

I like this place! It's friendly, the deliver guy is awesome (always remembers me), and it's a quiet environment if you want to eat in. Sure, the tables are a little close and you can easily ease-drop but it's not rowdy or bright. It's comfortable and casual. The food is good - hits the spot! I've yet to really be disappointed in anything I've gotten. It's a little more expensive than the other thai place (by the Whole Foods) but it gets major props because there's no snobby woman at the counter who is always giving me these weird looks and making me feel insecure about my thai food cravings. Yeah, the people here are cool.

Our favorite Thai restaurant of all times. We used to order from here once a week even though it's kind of far. The food is absolutely delicious and ingredients are always fresh. The Indonesian Fried Rice never fails but we love the Pad Thai as well. We don't normally order appetizers because we indulge in the dishes themselves. The Thai ice tea is the best here! The delivery guy and service are always friendly and nice. Great place for first dates and dinners.

I will not judge a Thai restaurant based solely on their pad thai. Too many restaurants in the US have created their own version of the dish for me to take it seriously anymore. Lemon Thai's pad thai ... it passes. The restaurant delivers, so I guess that's a plus, but I won't rave them for it. I've been to Lemon Thai a few times, and all I remember is that most of the dishes came out with sauces that all looked and tasted exactly the same. That turned me off.

I went to Babson, which is next to this place, so I ate it all the time. The delivery guy, Freddy is my best mate now. Hardly anyone eats in here, but it is probably the busiest take-out place in Wellesley. Tofu pad Thai is greasy, sugary, and pretty darn tasty. They have a good peanut dressing for the salads, and the curries are ok. Unless you go to Babson, Olin, or Wellesley, there's no reason to trek to snooty Wellesley for Thai foods.

Lemon Thai is a nice little restaurant in Wellesley. The service was friendly and prices were okay. I got the crispy chicken pad thai and my lady friend had the pad see ew. The pad thai was average at best. The only thing that stood out to me was the chicken. I thought to myself "what an ingenious idea is to add fried chicken to pad thai!" Taste testing the pad see ew was not bad, but I have had better. Overall a nice place to get my thai food fix. 3-stars for not being terrible but also not anything spectacular.

  • Andy S.

I'm a Babson College student, and Lemon Thai is just as much a part of your life as your textbooks might be. Everyone complains about it, but when it comes down to it, everyone orders it. I actually know I will miss it in the future. It is diff from the thai food from my hometown in California, but I've grown to like it. That being said, some things I always order include yellow curry, country style pad thai, indonesian fried rice, basil fried rice, and crab rangoons. I also think their service is simple and good, as they dont speak perfect English but they know what you want. I also go there quite often, leading to free thai iced teas, which I have enjoyed many of over the years. My phone number is also so simple haha. I give it 5 stars because of its consistently great service and food. And cuz their walls are yellow!

Lemon Thai is my favorite restaurant in Wellesley (and believe me... I've tried them all!!). They have a wide menu in which you can substitute any kind of meat or vegetarian option into any dish! A personal favorite of mine is the Mango Curry with tofu. Also, it's a great place to go get a thai iced tea if you're walking by. They're very inexpensive and the to-go cups are very generous! My only complaint about Lemon Thai is that, while they do deliver, it is often slow and you're better off picking it up yourself or eating in there very nice dining room. Ammendment 5/21/2008: I actually like Coconut Thai down route 16 better, but it's a super pain in the butt to get to from Wellesley College... the traffic's insane, not much parking, and no bus (duh. :o)

    (4)
  • David T.

This is certainly decent Thai food by suburban standards. The flavors are right, and the food is presented well, but there's not much here that you wouldn't find at any other Thai restaurant. If you're near the Ville at Wellesley Square on a hot day, you really should get a Thai Iced Tea to go for $1.60. It's incredibly refreshing.

I saw a separate review saying this place was better than Amarin of Thailand. Since we'd eaten at Amarin before several times, I wanted to try Lemon Thai for lunch. The food was not impressive at all. My pad kee maw had celery, carrots and green peppers in it. The flavor was lacking and the veggies were pretty much raw. This is supposed to be a noodle dish with basil! The noodles were also crumbled up together, cooked unevenly so the inside layer was still cold. I believe the owners might be Chinese as the menu has Chinese items and they look Chinese. The Thai dishes my colleagues had were not very good either. One crispy chicken was too salty and the pad thai was mostly sprouts. The Thai ice tea was good, but you can't really mess that up. Amarin is a bit more expensive but the food quality is excellent. I had much higher expectations for Lemon Thai, but it seems to be more of a college take-out Chinese/Thai mix-bag of place. I just wanted good Thai food, thanks no crab ragoon for me.

There is something addictive in their food, I'm sure of it. Even as a college student who doesn't get quality food in the dorm (er, res hall), this is good food. I am religiously addicted to their Crispy Chicken Pad Thai and their Crab Rangoon is *the* standard that I measure all crab rangoons by--and they always fail, utterly and miserably. It always takes my order at least 40 minutes to arrive, but how can you beat the convenience of a deliveryman whom you don't have to explain how to deliver to your dorm? "Take a left into the entrance, take a right at the road next to the big field, a fork in the right, but don't take the first right..."

  • Jenny N.

There aren't a whole lot of dining options in Wellesley, but this is a cute Thai place. We started with the fresh spring rolls (too much iceberg lettuce) and I ordered a fried rice noodle dish that would've been good except it was suspended in some sort of gelatinous goo (I think it was supposed to be "gravy") that made it completely unappetizing. The boy ordered the "country-style" pad thai and that was reliably delicious. The service was quick though and prices quite reasonable. The food was of average quality overall on this dining experience, but I think I might've just ordered the wrong item on the menu, so I will give this place 3 stars.

    (3)
  • Alexandra L.

Delivery alone makes Lemon Thai worth the five star rating. It is one of the only places that I order from in Wellesley - they get from the restaurant to my dorm in about 20 minutes usually (even faster at non-peak ordering hours). I won't lie - when I was trapped at college during wintersession without access to a real kitchen, the delivery man and i became best friends. TO this day he brings me free drinks and asks me about my health, family, and how college is going - a surrogate father on some level. haha. Their Pad-See Eew is where its at. Their pad thai is too sweet in my opinion. Check their steamed dumplings.

  • Chloe F.

Lemon Thai has really good, really fast service and the food is delicious. Their pad thai never gets old and their curries are really delicious and on the mild side, if you don't take spicy foods that well. They also have a spicy flat noodle dish that was really good. Man, flat noodle is awesome.

    (4)
  • Jamie S.

Easily overlooked but not to be missed... The pad thai alone will redefine your standard of this noodle dish. A perfect balance of flavors-- not too sweet or fishy, the noodles are soft but not mushy. The tofu pad thai has lightly pan fried nuggets of tofu, slightly browned on the outside and soft on the inside. The country pad thai has an extra kick of spice with an extra punch of peanuts. Each dish served with water bursting bean sprouts and juicy lime wedges. The curries are light and flavorful. I like the yellow curry with added mango in addition to the pineapple. The Shrimp pik king is spicy with fresh green beans that have a slight crunch. Siam chili fish has a delicious special sauce. The fried rices have some original ingredients such as tomato wedges and broccoli which work surprisingly well. You can also request brown rice in place of the white. Also, you can have them omit ingredients (like egg if you're vegan or tomatoes if you don't like them). Save room dessert. The mango sticky rice is served with generous slices of mango accompanying a rectangular warm rice patty with a slightly sweet coconut creme sauce topped with toasted rice kernels. The Thai Iced Tea is great and the restaurant also allows you to bring in your own wine or beer. This is by far the best thai food in the Boston area. The restaurant has a warm and pleasant feel. The waitstaff is attentive and friendly. On my third visit, the waitress brought a straw over with the ice water without my having to ask and does so to this day. The food is served quickly and the quality is consistently high--and the prices are very reasonable for lunch and dinner both-- nothing is priced over $12.95.

A staple to any Wellesley College student's life. It's reasonably priced, fast service, consistent quality, and they deliver. To this day after I've been out of the area for over a year, they still have the best Thai Iced Tea, or at least the only one I like. I tried several different entrees over the years, and they were all good. Point off for excess onion use.

    (4)
  • steel m.

This place is just not good. The pad thai was gross--too liquidy and not much flavor. The jungle curry was served in a low, flat bowl, making if difficult to serve--not that it mattered because the sauce was goopy and not at all like a curry sauce. The dumplings were dry and flavorless. Not a fan.

  • Han K.

Although I'm a bigger fan of Amarin across the street, Amarin does not deliver, so Lemon Thai wins on that battle by default. It's decent Thai food, it's not the best, certainly not the worst, but the staff is very pleasant ordering in or taking out, the delivery driver Frank is about the nicest delivery guy I've ever met, and for the money, you'll be pleased with what you got.

    (4)
  • Sutee D.

Decent Thai food, but convenience and location were the main reasons I became familiar with this place. The curries are a little weak, but everything else is good. I order Thai ice tea and crab rangoon (I know, I know, not authentic) to go with just about every meal I have here.

    (3)
  • Elaine C.

Ah, thank god for Lemon Thai... Without it (and the very nice delivery man), who knows how my friends and I would have survived the past four years living purely off of Dorm Food. The food really hits the spot when it's the middle of January, 10 degrees outside, and you're really craving something warm and delicious. Only 3 stars though, because the portions have gotten smaller over the years and everything is loaded with MSG!! I asked them to not put MSG once (yes, I know, this is a hard thing to ask of any Asian restaurant), and the waitress replied that although they don't add MSG, she can't control whether the salt they use has MSG.... Uh, just don't buy salt from vendors that sell salt WITH MSG!! The side effects of a stomach ache and salty tongue are worth the food and service, however. The food isn't as "special" as Amarin, but the restaurant is closer to campus and doesn't have a creepy waiterman watching you eat.... And as a side rant, why does the town of Wellesley have, like, five Thai restaurants and only one Japanese restaurant within walking distance of the Wellesley campus???

My friend teaches at Wellesley College and he is always boasting about the great Thai restaurants in Wellesley, which seems odd given it is such a Yankeey town, but I'll try anything once and twice if I'm drunk enough...but that's another story, back to the restaurant. 7:30 on a Thursday night half the dining room was filled with college kids from Babson, Olin, and of course Wellesley. We ordered the standard fare, Thai Rolls (Crispy but with no taste), Lemon Thai Wings (tasty but extremely oily), Star noodle ( good but too much gravy), and Basil Fried Rice ( lots of ingredients but not spice). It is as I suspected, a white washed suburban Thai Restaurant. It's not even that cheap, which I found suprising. On the plus side, the dining room was clean and well lit and the service was prompt and professional. I went to Phuket and Bangkok for a photo shoot a few years ago, so I guess I'm a little overexposed to the authentic side of Thai cooking. I would go to Brown Sugar Cafe on Comm ave Boston for good sit down meal or Rod Dee on Beacon st, Brookline for takeout (at about the dishes not on the menu, that's the good stuff!)

Not worth waiting 55 minutes and missing your lunch break because your food arrived late! Food is decent but if you can't get your act together with delivery services why offer it at all. Don't promise me 30 minutes if you can't deliver in 30. Here's a tip - under promise and over deliver .

    (3)
  • Jackie K.

Seriously.

So toodles!

We don't mind the drive out to Wellesley if it means eating here!

one of my favorite places i have ever eaten!

I love Lemon Thai's Crispy Chicken Pad Thai, Country Styled Pad Thai, and Drunken Noodles.

Love their tom yum noodle soup, crab rangoons, pad thai country style, and the thai ice tea! best thai restaurant in the area.

We love this place. We order take out from here often. We haven't ordered anything that we haven't liked. The food comes quickly, is hot, and my order has always been correct.

Lemon Thai has really good, really fast service and the food is delicious. Their pad thai never gets old and their curries are really delicious and on the mild side, if you don't take spicy foods that well. They also have a spicy flat noodle dish that was really good. Man, flat noodle is awesome.

This place is just not good. The pad thai was gross--too liquidy and not much flavor. The jungle curry was served in a low, flat bowl, making if difficult to serve--not that it mattered because the sauce was goopy and not at all like a curry sauce. The dumplings were dry and flavorless. Not a fan.

Decent Thai food, but convenience and location were the main reasons I became familiar with this place. The curries are a little weak, but everything else is good. I order Thai ice tea and crab rangoon (I know, I know, not authentic) to go with just about every meal I have here.
