Walked in, completely empty place. Not even a wait staff to welcome us (the place was definitely open though). There was a strange smell, kind of like when you wash a load of laundry and forget about it, then when you finally remember it's all stank and you need to rewash? Ok mix that with cigarette ashes and you have the smell. My husband purposely made a bit of noise to see if anyone would come out and no one did. Finally I just got the heebee-jeebies and we left to go somewhere more... Alive I guess. Not even contemplating ever going back.

Not sure why this place is getting such bad reviews. The Martini's are pricey but large and the menu is extensive. The Bartenders are excellent and friendly. The apps are also great. I can't speak about the rest of the menu. This is a different spot to check out out great atmosphere as it is what it is, a Piano Bar.

Terrible food. Terrible service. Went there for dinner after finding a groupon. The owner had to "verify" that it was still good and took about 15 minutes to do this. There was only one large party and me and my date. Sat around for a good 20 minutes until one of the two bartenders/waitresses took our order. I ordered a "new york" sirloin steak and she ordered a salad and we ordered an appetizer plate. In short the appetizers were all frozen junk you could get from the supermarket. The salad was a joke. For an $8-10 dinner sized salad you get this small bowl of lettuce with chedder cheese and boiled chicken on it. Now for the best part...my steak...WAS BOILED. SERIOUSLY?! What "restaurant" or place that serves food BOILS a steak? I would have rather eaten that thing raw then boiled. I guess this is why people go here for martinis and drinks...oh yeah there was no piano player either. Owner should realize that his food is dog **** and fix something. This place needs to be one those reality tv shows where the professionals come in and make a mockery of these failing restaurants.

This place was dirty, with bad food, bad service , and overpriced drinks $15 martini. (in Springfield?) The images in their web gallery are of some other place that looked clean and inviting. This place is old and dirty. We were the only clients at 7pm on a Friday night. (Should've taken that as a sign.) My water glass had a pink hue. I overheard the servers mention it was likely sanitizer left in the glass. Do not go here. This is not a true martini and piano bar. This is not a nice upscale trendy place to hangout. This is a dive bar with a player piano in it.

HORRIBLE! Upon arriving to the restaurant, we waited over five minutes to be greeted and then were told that we could seat ourselves. We sat down near the piano which was so loud that you couldn't hear anything else. It then took another ten minutes to even order drinks. We started with the cheese and fruit plate, which was nothing bought store bought Cabot cheese and dried stale crackers, for 16.95 a total waste of money. We also ordered an appetizer of the toasted ravioli along with our meals. My husband ordered the sole franchise and I ordered a garden salad with mushrooms added. Our meals arrived, with no ravioli. We had to mention that the ravioli did not arrive and the waitress left so quickly that I did not even have time to mention the fact that my salad was not prepared as I had asked either. My husband finished his meal before anyone even came back to the table. This time they came back with the ravioli, which of course we did not want as our meals had already been served and finished. At this point, I advised them of my salad and was told that I would not be charged for the salad. Once the bill arrived, I was charged for the salad and the wrong drink. However, at that point we just wanted to get out of there and not have to wait another half hour to get something taken care of, so we just paid the bill as is. This was out first time at this restaurant and will certainly be our last. Horrible service, horrible food and overall just a horrible experience. I would not recommend this establishment to anyone.

Not very good, especially for the price. My chicken parmesan was quite chewy with WAY too much sauce....and the sauce wasn't good either. For $16 a meal, I expected some kind of amazing dish....just "meh." We went because we had a gift card but I doubt I'll ever be back.

My knitting club met here one night for drinks, which were good (but how hard is it to make a martini?), and not having eaten, my mother and I decided to order some food. The service was fine, nothing to swoon about, but the food was terrible. We ordered bruschetta to share, which was just OK at best, and then salmon which we agreed was the worst meal we have ever paid for. Something like $16 for a recently frozen rectangle of salmon... I think it was salmon... it was like a patty. The side of rice pilaf (in a separate bowl?) was the best thing we had on our plates. I wouldn't go again for food unless they revamped the menu and advertised it.

My lady and I thoroughly enjoyed the drinks, service and music at this fine establishment! We popped in unexpectedly after work to find a wonderful bartender named Laura serving super sized Martinis and delicious pints of Beer. Earlier in the evening they also offer a few $3 small plate apps, which is nice to match with the killer beverages. I can't say enough about the hospitality we encountered at Shakago, simply outstanding! So warm on a cold night, best drinks ever and the lit candles also warmed our hearts. Karaoke started shortly after arriving, and the two guys running the gig were also very pleasant, not to mention that they both had such soulful sounds they could make grown men weep. I fealt bold enough to sing a song...or three while there, and the sound system and ambience even turned me into a solid performer, lol. We were lucky to encounter a birthday party being set up by one of their regulars, so my lady inquired, ended up chatting with the guy named Donny. He was bringing his girlfriend back in an hour or so, with the intent to surprise her on her birthday, and he sure did! We stayed for awhile dancing and laughing the start of the night, and seriously had a blast. You won't find better drinks, warmer people and smoother moods that here. Thanks Shakago for the excellent time had on an off night in Springfield, we'll be back.

I had a gift certificate to use up and went with a friend. Their martini menu is impressive and the ones we tried were delicious. Pricey! (about $14/$17) But delicious. Both of us found our meals salty. I had the chicken marsala. I was drinking water all night. I won't rush back to eat. I maybe would return for a drink.

Drinks are on the pricey side but it's worth it because it's tasty and strong and you have plenty options to choose from.

Martinis are excellent but a little pricy. The food isn't like great, but it isn't horrible. The venue is quite small, I would guesstimate capacity is about 100 people tops. The drinks definitely make the place.

I wouldn't go back there. Really snooty, horrible service, the staff is under par, mediocre at best. There isn't even a piano nor a key board in the building. Don't expect to go there with a hat, they are not allowed. But trashy corsets are. It is a dump!!!

AWFUL FOOD & DRINKS!!!! Food taste like it came from a gas station. Honestly, everything tasted like microwave food and was TERRIBLY overpriced! I'm the type of person who is willing to spend if the experience/food is worth it....it was not, and I regretted EVERY penny. I also ordered a martini...$15. But I was probably better off just drinking water because there was absolutely no alcohol in it. This place is gross too. I actually had to ask the bartender to wash out my glass before he poured my drink because it was so dusty and dirty. Not kidding. Go to Taco Bell or any Sonoco gas station and you'll get better quality food. Take your business elsewhere. Seriously, there are so many better alternatives in the area. STEER CLEAR OF THIS PLACE!

The owner of this place is a joke. I came here for the first time ever with a friend who had a coupon from restaurants.com . We had just eaten dinner and wanted dessert in liquid form. We mentioned that was what brought us there, and the owner immediately got an attitude and told us the coupon wasn't valid on alcohol. We read the rules and fine print and didn't see anything that said that. He then proceeded to go into the back and find a copy of one since he was so adamant on losing our business. He was unable to find any proof but still insisted we couldn't. Needless to say we took our business elsewhere and got amazing martinis at McCaffrey's down the street.

Based on the servers alone I WISH I could give a better review. HOWEVER... We went in with reservations on a Friday night. There were only a couple people at the bar and the entire place smelled of urine and Pine Sol. We had just moved here from Chicago and was very excited to see a piano bar/restaurant in Springfield. The pianist, while a pretty good musician, had incredibly awful/rude patter with the audience. The drinks were fine but pricey, the entrees were just not good. I had scallops the size of a nickel and consistency of pencil erasers. My other half had a chicken dish and after finishing it made 2 trips to the bathroom to throw up. I spent the night sleeping on the couch to be close to the bathroom and didn't leave the house the next day. Again, the servers were quite attentive and apologetic but unable to adjust our pretty staggering bill for a sad sad dining experience.

Drinks are pricey but large. The food is reasonably priced and very good, especially the apps. The bar service has always been spectacular though i cannot speak for the floor staff. The four stars comes from the ambiance alone. The place is as stated, a piano and martini bar. It's a great place to wind down and have a drink and some food in place that still shows class in a somewhat tasteless world.

Martinis were creative and good but too much gooey crap on the rim so they were a mess, not elegant. I'm not talking just sugared here. Had to get a new glass because I couldn't even pick mine up. Stuff had run all down it, all over the stem, my hands. Icky! VERY pricey too. Food... was average at best, but priced way too high for something so uneventful and tasteless. The portions were tiny and the food wasn't anything I would eat again. Too bad, because the concept is great. Unfortunately they miss the mark on so many things here that it is more disappointing than anything. I will say that our server was very nice, personable and fun which made our time here tolerable.

So disappointing! The martinis are good, but beware: there is no price on the extensive martini menu and they are $13 a pop! Ridiculous NYC prices for a tiny place in the bad part of town in Springfield. The food is barely mediocre, and way over priced. $19 for baked stuffed shrimp. You get three average sized shrimp looking lost on the plate, with a scoop of probably-packaged stuffing on each. My husband's prime rib was bland. And the ambiance is weird. Loud hip hop music playing until the piano player starts at 7 pm. He was very good. And the kitchen staff has to schlep supplies through the dining area to the bar. Plus the restrooms are in the middle of the dining room, so you can hear the hand dryers running while you eat. Actually you hear everything going on in the whole place. Very loud. Won't go back.

Not very good at all. Boy, let me say the crowd that sits at the bar and drinks is quite pretentious. I like to wear jeans and a cute top, my curly hair up, makes me little like an American eagle hippy, but boy did i get the stare down. It was a mam and me date...It was not the cleanest and the decorations..cheap! We looked at the prices, may I just ask why Springfield, MA restaurants charge more than most Boston restaurants...this baffles me. Food took about 45 minutes to come out, we both ordered fish on the medium side. Well, I knew why when I got my food..they do not use fresh food, it was clearly frozen, the fries pre-packaged and frozen. And as we sat, waiting for our food we watched as the horrible appetizers were served..white bread with yellow cheese...So do people actually think they are "classy" when they pay 9 dollars for white bread and fake cheese? nasty! Good thing this was a groupon deal or we would have busted and not paid. The service was horrible too!
