Quick and friendly service. Good portion sizes for both adult and kiddies. Food was good. Recommend fish and chips or fish tacos. Kids pizza was huge and was good since it was gobbled up.

Went here with my husband and his parents and two year old toddler on a busy Sunday afternoon. We were seated right away and my son was given an activity bag with crayons for coloring and paper. We ordered a dozen and a half merry oysters at 2.75 a piece. My parent in laws enjoyed it but I thought it was not fresh enough. I had a fishy one. For appetizer, we also ordered the blackened raw tuna sashimi appetizers that came with a small side of seaweed salad. I thought it was a decent appetizer but not memorable. We also ordered fried whole belly clams which at market price was about $17 and that was definitely my favorite appetizer for the meal. For entree we had the special for the day, wild caught salmon with rice, fried okra, and gumbo. It was decent but for $27 dollar per plate, you would need deep pockets or an even deeper wallet. My crushed watermelon martini was sweet and refreshing but would have been better if it was served much colder. Maybe have a slushy version or daiquiri? Definitely thought the ambience was nice and our server was attentive. I would definitely come back and try other dishes and drinks. See my pictures.o

Been here a couple of times now. I always find that with Legal locations, it's never really the quality of food that varies; the food is always really fresh and delicious. And, they take the utmost precaution with allergies. I have (thank God!) never gotten sick (glutened) at a Legal. The first time we came, I ordered a mango margarita. I think I've sent back a drink maybe one other time in my life, but this margarita merited time number two. It almost tasted...moldy? As though the mango had gone bad, or something? In any case, the waiter graciously took it back and replaced it with a Legal signature margarita that was phenomenal. All was well. Last night, we went again to meet a friend. All of our food was fantastic, but the server communicated that they had run out of glasses and thus we waited for a long time for water and then, later, drink refills. Overall, the meal took a long time, which was fine with us because we were visiting with a friend. If, however, we were a family with a kid, it may have been aggravating to have to wait so long between drinks, apps, meal, etc. I love Legal and would definitely go back here again!

This place is hit or miss. I go pretty regulalrly since I live only a mile down the street, and it's easy to get to, with reliable food. The food is always good, but the service is never consistent. I love the Bang Bang Cauliflower appetizer. The Thai style calamari is also excellent. My fiance always orders the Anna's Baked Scrod (comes w 2 sides). I've eaten the tuna steak (nothing special), grilled scallops (pretty good, but pricey at around $36) and the Greek chopped salad with chicken (perfect when I want a lighter meal) Their Legal sangria (red) is also great. The apple sangria is a little too sweet for me, but still good. They have a pretty good wine list. Epect to spend $100 on dinner for 2, if you order 1 or 2 drinks and an app. Make a reservation via OpenTable, there's usually a wait.

Service was painfully slow and a little sloppy, thankfully we weren't in a rush or anything. The food, like all Legal locations, was delicious though and worth the visit. This new location is awesome and the interior is really cool - the TV and bar in the middle is nice for a casual drink but then there is a whole enormous dining room as well. The sweeping view of the kitchen is cool too. Despite the service and the price (it's a little steep), I would totally come back.

I've been to Legal Sea Food locations before in other states. All experiences have been good, but the food at this location was very bland. I know the dish I had tasted much different the previous time I had it. Hopefully it was an off day, and not that they changed the recipe.

Love seafood but this place is way overpriced... I looked over the menu And if course when I saw Crab Cakes I was Excited... Yeah I just love 'em But when is it worth $30.00 for just ONE Crab cake.... Sorry ... I eat out all the time but this is just CRAZY So me and my friend who were sitting outside ... Away from the noise which was relaxing just removed outlives from the table and BAILED... Haha.... I'm not that much Of an IDIOT

Today i went in to the restaurant with my mother who is visiting from out of town, I wanted to take her to a descent place with good food and good service. I was given a recommendation by one of my coworkers to go and visit this establishment and I had high hopes for this place. Unfortunately this location didn't live up to the hype....Our server Andrew was lifeless and kind of rude, he wasn't friendly and made our experience less than enjoyable. I also noticed that the taller, bald manager was going around to every table, greeting the guests and making sure they were having a great experience. That manager never came to our table, he spoke with the table that had been seated right before us, skipped over our table and continued greeting the guests. I'm not sure why this happened or why we were treated this way but it didn't leave a good taste in my mouth and I definitely have no intention of returning.

It's a Legal, so you know exactly what to expect- straightforward fresh seafood in a classyish environment. Personally, I think this is one of the better options for a sit-down meal at Assembly Square both quality and price-wise, particularly with the large lovely patio. On our recent visit, our littlenecks were fresh as can be, my $18 plate of salmon was cooked to perfection, and the fries were excellent. The asparagus, however, wasn't the best- too thick and woody, not a good option IMO. The boy's steak tips were surprisingly really good as well, for all you non-seafood eaters out there. Overall, a solid choice for the area.

Dined at Legal on the Mystic on the 4th of July and sat outdoors. It was a bit breezy from the winds coming of the water, but pleasant with the sun. Our waitress was helpful and generally knew the menu. She also made sure to review our orders since made modifications to the entrees. Ordered a Forbidden Colada, which was yummy with the alcohol coming through enough to balance out the juice. Pretty presentation and decent price. Complimentary rolls were piping hot and deliciously soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside. Food wise, I ordered the Steamers and the Mesquite BBQ Ribs and Shrimp. My girls order the Fish in a Bag and the Seafood Casserole. All portions were hearty and cooked as be liked. The bill was a tad hefty (-$120 for 3), but based on the location and the quality of the food and service, I think of it as a treat every now and then. Definitely not a meal I'll indulge in weekly though. Service: 4/5 Food: 5/5 Cleanliness: 4/5 Overall: 4.5/5

I have to start by saying that growing up in Cambridge I absolutely love Legals Seafood! I went on my high school graduation and on many special occasions thereafter. Tonight I got the mussels and calamari as an appetizer. Both very good and recommended. I had the fish in a bag which was tasty and fit in with my low carb diet! I got my carbs through a nice Cabernet! The best feature of this Legals was the free parking and the table next to the window overlooking the Mystic River. Best of both worlds. Inside for quick service but under a huge window for that summer night ambiance!

I went here on 8/9 for my birthday, and had a great time. Our waiter was a bit "off", kind of an awkward guy, but he was really nice, and there was a large group of us (kind of a rowdy bunch) and he managed to keep everything straight. He also accidentally spilled a full martini on me, which wasn't a big deal at all, but they really made up for it for me. Brought out four free appetizers and a piece of cake for my birthday. I was really happy with how kind the server and the manager were, and all four apps were delicious (Cauliflower, shrimp cocktail, crab cake, and spinach and feta dip). All of the drinks that we tried were also really good, and it was cool that we were allowed to sit out on the patio with a big group even though we were planning on just having drinks and not eating.

Food was exceptional here. Raw oysters were very small but still succulent. The Fisherman's platter was massive. It could feed 2-3 people. The Fish In A Bag was amazing. Try dipping the complimentary bread into the butter sauce. Yum! Grilled salmon was cooked to perfection. The sautéed spinach and broccoli sides were tasty as well. Steak tips were okay, very small portion though. Our waitress was great! Very friendly and attentive. On the other hand, the food service was not the best experience. We probably waited about 30 mins before our meals were served. It was not really busy either. Maybe our party of 7 was too big? Prices are fair and comparable to other Legal Seafoods. There is plenty of parking around the corner in the garage. I recommend you park where the TJMaxx parking lot is, it's a shorter walk distance.

every time ive been here, its been really yummy food! I've had the shrimp taco, the quinoa salad side, crab cake, etc. YUM!!! Legal seafood chain has def upped its entrees and sides in the recent years. will be a reg here when I come shopping at assembly sq. love it here esp on nice weathers, albeit windy, it can be really nice to sit in the sun. (as long as ur silverwares don't fly away)

Went here with family on a day out and was left somewhat disappointed. First off, we weren't there during an extremely busy time (430 on a Sunday) but the staff seemed to be scrambling around. Our server was pleasant, the wait wasn't long, and the food was good. Sorry I couldn't give 5 stars, but the service was a bit off. As I said our server was attentive. However we had 3 different servers bring out our meals, not knowing who ordered what and not bringing them all out at the same time. During our meal a gentleman and his young daughter got up from their seats to use the bathroom and in the meantime a server cleared another table, placed the dirty dishes, drinks, and napkins on their table leaving them there to find when they returned???? What???? I'm not sure what kind of compensation they were given but the manager did speak with them. As we were finishing our meal a server, not ours, started walking over to our table, caught my eye, smiled and began placing a plate of desserts on our table ( we didn't order desserts). Before the plate hit our table she quickly said "oh" and carried them over to the people next to us. Huh??? It seems as though they are still "figuring things out" at this location. Managing a restaurant is tough and compiling a team that work together effectively takes time.

My review here will be specific to this location, not to Legal Seafoods as a whole since we've all pretty much been there, done that.. ;) First of all, I am still so giddy that we have Assembly Row and all these restaurants FINALLY in my neck of the woods!! Also thrilled that Legal is one of them, since it's a safe bet at having a good meal out. A few disappointments with this location: - They sadly don't offer Fish Chowder here!! :( Boo for us non-oyster-eating but fish-chowder-lovingggg folks.. that was actually the deciding factor for us to go to Legal vs. the other restaurants at Assembly, so that was a bummer. - My dining partner ordered the Yellow Fin Tuna entree and asked for it rare. If anything can be said about Legal Seafoods, it's that you can come to expect quality and freshness regardless of location. Or at least that's how I used to see it.. :( The tuna was actually quite a bit off and I took a bite too to test it out and tasted it was far from fresh- to the point of not being able to tolerate it just to be polite and not have to complain to the server. We had to send it back and got something else to replace it. And some nice things to say(!): - Our server was really, really great. He was nice, friendly, super accommodating and just one of those servers that makes you actually notice that you got good service. - This location is HUGE, so I can't imagine very long waits even when it gets busy. - The decor is quite nice (a far cry from the dated Copley location), and they even made special place mats just for this spot (wisely, they decided the classic timeline/trivia place mat just wouldn't do). Whether for a casual meal while shopping, a nice meal with a big group or just a drink with a date, this location is a nice spot! I'll file the unfresh-fish memory away b/c hey, it can happen, but hope it was just a one-time thing!

I love this place! The ambiance is gorgeous. The service is fantastic. The food is absolutely delicious. It's pricey of course but you get what you pay for. And you can make reservations for this restaurant on Open Table so you should no excuse for having to wait in line to be seated!

I love Legal! I've gone to most of them all around Boston at this point. This one is particularly interesting. The inside has a very modern vibe to it, exceptionally spacious, with an amazing bar right in the middle. You can choose from booths or tables, by the windows or more to the back, where the brick walls are. Super high ceilings, giving you an amazing aura to this place. My family and I sat outside, where they have nice gas heaters by all the tables, keeping you warm. The drinks menu is very nice! You can get a delicious strawberry daiquiri! Food wise, there is a happy hour after 10pm where you can get $1 oysters and 1/2 off appetizers. So finish your shopping and come here! For the main course, I ordered the Cioppino, and was a bit disappointed that it didn't come with rice or an option of more carbs on the side. It was a lot of broth (which I find delicious) but only with one slice of bread on top. Other legal locations offer rice and I prefer that. The music was also not that great.. and I feel addressing a teenage crowd... not the average age of people that dine here. And, the restrooms could use paper towels too! Not just hand dryers.

Sometimes you hope somewhere can capture the essence of your desired dish. Tonight that happened with Leah at Mystic Legal's. I was really hoping for a surf and surf with blackened swordfish and fried scallops. It came out with broccoli and fries, was perfectly portioned and priced as an excellent meal. The service here is head and shoulders above every other restaurant in assembly row. If you can make one choice to eat at this historic facility, make it here.

This place makes me like Legal Seafood again. They have all the Legal classics, some dishes unique to here (such as the lobster roll and pizza), and much more of a modern flair (eg, communal tables). Server was super nice and helped me pick a good selection of oysters. Apparently the Merry oysters are exclusive to Legal. Service is a tad rusty (they forgot the rolls and brought us something we didn't order )-- totally excusable on opening night. Lobster roll was great, and without the wait you'd get at Neptune. Steak tips are also delish (sweet and mesquite), and not just for a seafood place. They get all their beef from Creekstone, which is part of the reason it's so good. p.s. Apparently the thing to get is the Fish in a Bag-- at least that is what the owner of Legal gets when he dines at his new restaurant on opening night (happened to be sitting next to us).

Quality of food terrible, service terrible. Our server was very nice but not on top of our party of 8 for a graduation, mind you the restaurant is dead. We have to request for more water, never took our drink order, didn't ask how I wanted my burger cooked. My brother got steak tips it came with 3! He was like are you serious! He finished his meal and then the kitchen sent more waiter assistant said "here is the rest of your meal" was that a joke?! Food quality was like same as a chain like Chilis or Fridays. Extremely Disappointed! Never again.

This is a new location of the "Legal Chain" -- it is a chain although their radio adds claim otherwise. I went for a dinner with some clients and had a pleasant experience. The kitchen seems better than most other locations. The atmosphere was lively, albeit a little too noisy for a business dinner. And with legal in their name, they charge as much as lawyers.

Music was very loud and it was very hard to hear and carry on a conversation. There was also direct sunlight glaring through the shade and many patrons were blinded for over an hour + until the sun went down....hello, how bout upgrading those shades? Very very annoying. One order arrived incorrect. Service was ok....food overall was good. Lastly, restaurant had a "dirty dishrag smell"....not confident that this place is very clean. I am a huge legal seafoods fan but will not be returning to this location anytime soon.

Compared to the other Legal sites, this new one boosts my opinion of the chain. The menu selection is larger, dishes are prepared well, and the decor is up to date. Our server was friendly and efficient, and the bartender happily accommodated one of our preggo friend's requests for mocktinis, and came up with something different each time. Another plus - abundant parking! I ordered a bloody Mary for my pre-lunch drink, and promptly regretted not including a jumbo shrimp to garnish the drink. The bf had a Sam Adams Cold Snap, and the best friend ordered one of the many bottled microbrewery beers. We sat at the bar for a bit, noshing on the calamari appetizer before our guest of honor arrived. When we were seated, our server promptly brought us a round of waters and a fresh plate of rolls. We proceeded to order Bang Bang Cauliflower, a couple of Clam Chowders and Crispy Fish Tacos, Hoisin Glazed Faroe Island Salmon, Crispy Fried Day Boat Digby Scallops, and a regular Glazed Faroe Island Salmon with a side of jasmine rice and garlic sauteed spinach. Our plates were emptied within 15-20 minutes. Perhaps it was hunger seasoning our food, but everything was quite delicious and cooked to order. We passed on dessert, having stuffed ourselves quickly, but we did have a brief visit from the manager, who wished our guest of honor a very happy birthday. When I come back to shop at Assembly Row, I'll certainly make another visit to this Legal.

I'm not a fan of seafood, so this is not the best place for me to visit for a meal. However, they do have land lover options, and my hamburger was good, but nothing special. My husband is not normally a fan of this chain, and often feels disappointed by the food quality- cost ratio. However, this time around he really liked his lobster pizza, and said he would order it again if we come back here. The place was busy and full on a Saturday night, which makes sense for the area. Although the lighting and decor seems nice for a date night, the open and noisy layout cancels this out. The employees here were knowledgable, attentive, and friendly enough. I still can't get over the feeling that all Legal's tend to seem overpriced, but it's an okay place for dinner.

Excellent, excellent service. The manager was so accommodating. He over compensated for an order mishap. In the end, I'm stuffed and will return!

My friend ordered lobster bisque, fish & chips. I ordered the clam chowder & crab cake combo (with shrimp and scallops). Great atmosphere. Food was standard of Legals... Service was as well.... I appreciated NOT smelling that rank fishy smell that some seafood places have... I'd definitely go here again if I'm looking for standard.... They could very easily capitalize on the great aesthetics, atmosphere, and up-and-coming real estate if they put a little something extra into the service... Imagine that. To be clear, I am NOT complaining--- just hoping for more. Legals offers a great product, service, and brand--- they could afford to invest a bit more into hospitality and really earn that 5th star...

Great option for someone looking for New England cuisine. I have friends spread all over the world and when anyone of them visits, always asks for New England cuisine. Sadly enough there aren't great places serving New England food in Boston. Most of them could be hit or miss. Mostly miss. But not Legal Seafood, you will always find great New England basics like clam chowder, fried clams, something with lobatahs, and other more creative options as well. All of them are always tasty. This time it was a dozen of us. There were no tables available for 12 while booking so we booked 3 tables of 4. However we were accommodated and given 1 single huge table when we arrived without waiting for more than 3 minutes. People in our party were from all over the world, so everyone arrived at different times, yet we were seated and not made to wait till everyone arrived. The entire service was personalized and efficient. Without any fuss we were given separate checks, that saves a lot of your calculation time. We appreciated it especially because we had very limited time to spend with each other. In all we had good food and great time. I am usually not a big proponent of chain restaurants but Legal is an exception. There are so many other great things about this particular location. Ample of free parking (so far). Great area to walk around and shop around. Accessible by public transport (Assembly row on Orange line). Not very expensive. Next time someone asks for a New England cuisine, give this one a try.

It's alright. Its typical chain food. The wait staff was really nice though. My husband wanted to come for his birthday. Its very loud inside though but its located in a nice area.

If you like Legal Seafood then this is just like the other restaurants with the same fresh seafood and great drinks! The location is great next to the river and there's free parking with lots of great shops to go to before or after you have your meal. My favorite food here is the clam chowder, ahi tuna steak, rainbow trout and the Best Best is the Lobster Pizza- A must Have!!

Decided to check this out to see if it was much different from the other Legal Seafood restaurants. Seems to have a similar menu but the seating is slightly more casual... Hard to describe, but maybe more like a bar or club. Great location and the same great tasting seafood. Definitely will keep it on my list of places to frequent in the Boston area.

A friend and I went here on a Friday night around 8:15pm. There was a 40-45 minute wait but we sat right now on one of two shared benches they have! Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. I ordered the apple sangria, which tasted like fall in a glass. It was delicious. My friend got the red sangria which was also great. For an appetizer we ordered the calamari with marinara sauce perfect ! For dinner, I had the blackened swordfish tacos. They were cooked perfectly and were very tasty! My friend got the mussels in white wine and garlic sauce, which was also very good. I would highly recommend giving this place a try. I will definitely return!

The best friend and I came here for a Christmas Eve dinner not by choice. All the other restaurants in Assembly Row were closed so we decided that we should just give this place a try since it was pouring outside and we were hungry. Most tables were already reserved so they asked if we would like to sit at the communal tables situated between the bar and the entrance. Why the heck not, right? Except the previous diners must have left in a hurry because their dishes had not yet been cleared. (Oh cut them some slack. It was Christmas Eve and they were only the ones open there with a full house!) Those dishes were eventually cleared and we were greeted by our server, Joy. Throughout the meal she was very attentive and checked up on us a few times. Food-wise, I would say if you've been one Legal then you've been to them all. The bff and I did order items that we normally would not have. I had Fish in A Bag. The portion was a little smaller than I had expected, but it was flavorful. The bff did not like it and seemed to have trouble finishing her shrimp tacos. Not that they were not any good, mind you. (I had one.) The portions were just slightly big for her. I would have gladly finished them for her had I not gorged on a bowl of perfectly roasted mushrooms. We were also offered a dessert menu which we politely declined as we had wanted to grab ice cream at the nearby JP Licks. I instantly regretted not ordering dessert when we saw JP Licks closing up before our own eyes. Ah well.

Went here to have dinner with friends on a Thursday night and was happily surprised. Much more modern and not as touristy, this Legal Seafood revamp offers things a little different than its other parent restaurants in Boston. We had traditional things such as the steamers and clam chowder. But then we had some new things to the Legal chain like fish tacos and ribs/shrimp. All the entrees were pretty good and quite large. I would liken the atmosphere and food qualities at this new eatery to the likes of The Yardhouse. For an enjoyable casual dinner out or meal after a day of shopping at Assembly Row, Legal on the Mystic is a great option.

I come here often, i love being able to sit outside and people watch. Its a great area. I have always found the waitstaff and bartenders to be pleasant and helpful. Only reason for a 4 not 5 star would be the food isn't always up to my standards. however i have never had a terrible experience and keep going back.

Excellent seafood. Very fresh, cooked perfectly, delicious all around. We got some oysters and calamari for appetizers. Very fresh. We then ordered tilapia and another seafood special which I cannot remember the exact name but we were all very surprised as to how good it was. I got a special watermelon drink which was so good. We sat outside. The environment was really nice and the food was excellent. This was our first time here at this specific location and we really loved it. Great job guys!!

Enter: We are 5 minutes late for our reservation, and the small waiting area (poorly engineered) is littered with huge parties of 6-7. I can't hear over the excessive noise that is filtering over from the bar and surrounding tables. So, I shout that I am 5 minutes late, which results in a grimace from the hostess, and am told we will be seated very shortly. 20 minutes later (mmm hmmm) we are seated. I ordered a sangria, which was pretty good. The drinks came very quickly which was a relief. I needed to take a sip and obliterate my nerves from the screaming child behind me. Poor thing probably didn't like his meal. I.am .not.a.fan.of.frozen.food that is warmed up on demand. I'll stay in my own kitchen after a 10 hour work day to do that, mmm kay? My husband and I ordered the pop corn shrimp and the presentation was cute. They'd stuffed it into a popcorn box and had it spilling out. The restaurant receives around 2 stars for that. But once I popped one in my mouth, I was not impressed. The Van De Kamp selection from the frozen section is either sold out (because Legal's is using it), or, if they aren't using it, it may taste better than whatever they are using. Seriously though, I remember my mom making those frozen fish sticks for me when I was 8 years old. She was tired after a long week. I think I am all set for a long while on the Legal chain. I've tried a total of three times in my 10 years here and each time falls short of expectation. It ranks slightly above Red Lobster in my book.

Let me preface this review before go any further: I despise franchise restaurants. You can't offer up high quality service/food when you expand to multiple locations. Decor is nice like all other retailers and restaurants in Assembly Sq. It's uber clean and modern. Even the bathrooms are super modernized. Nice. I got the rainbow trout with two house sides (basmati rice and coleslaw) and a premium side (mushrooms). The food was good. Nothing mind blowing. They mixed up my order and gave me fries instead of the basmati rice so they gladly gave me a bowl of rice and didn't charge me for the fries. Overall the food was pretty good. The portions were well sized (my trout dish for $19 a plate was pretty big). The service was attentive and friendly. We had six of us in the group and asked for separate checks and the server gladly took our complicated request without any issue. Easy to find parking since it's located in an outdoor mall area. And the beer/drink selections are good too (they have Lagunitas IPA!) It's definitely on the pricier side for dinner for two so that's where I'd knock off some points. I really despise franchise restaurants that charge a lot of money for a bland quality and choice of food but overall it wasn't bad.

Bartender is great,Jon, but there is this lady behind the barbs a thick Boston accent who is annoying me, clearly I'm fine I'm aittingnhere quietly with a smile eating my food and she keep a talking to me I get the whole engaging the customer but seriously get over yourself lol So apparently me not fully enjoying the experience I had with the female bartender upsets people, regardless of whether or not I had a bad day etc. I am entitled to my opinion and thinkg the food was great atmosphere cool but not a fan of hers, we are all entitled to our opinions no need to take them personally

This is a really nice new location. The atmosphere is cool and the service staff attentive. We ordered the Calamari Thai Style and the Clam Chowder. Great as always. My partner got the Lobster Bake and enjoyed it. The drinks were great. However, I would like to bring one thing to attention in hopes that Legal's reads this and fixes it: White Clam Pizza. I'm originally from Connecticut, land of Pepe's Pizza White Clam Pizza. Please send your chef to Mohegan Sun or the flagship New Haven location and try what a real white clam pie tastes like. This version was really bad, I'm sorry. The crust was okay, but the pancetta is so overwhelmingly salty, it turns the whole experience in to eating salt on bread. I did visually see clams on the pizza, but I could not taste them. I knew I was taking a risk ordering the clam pie, but man, please, make it better. I know you would grab a lot of fans if you turned this dish from lackluster to amazing. Either that, or remove it. It's not doing anybody any favors. Sorry.

I enjoyed my dining experience at this Legal's location. It was the first of the chain that I have attended. The layout of the restaurant is very open with lots of space, you do not feel crowded. There are TV's and a bar in the middle of everything while the kitchen takes place in the rear. As for the food I had the steak tips because I do not have a seafood friendly stomach. However, my friends all said they greatly enjoyed the lobster rolls. We also enjoyed some of the cocktails from the menu with no disappointment. Prices are what you expect from a place like this but fair.

Saturday visit. Very friendly wait staff, seated immediately. for lunch. Nice beer selection. Calamari appetizer Rhode Island Style was very good with peppers. Raw clams were fresh and properly served. Fish tacos, popcorn shrimp, a chicken salad, a mixed salad and the seafood casserole. A side of sweet potatoes was a winner. All looked and tasted great. Plenty to choose from on the menu -from sandwiches to full entrees. Nice atmosphere too..Whatever they do with the rolls that were served, everyone could not stop eating them, asked for and received a few to-go which was quite nice. Would go again!

Do not eat outside! The seating area is appealing and all, but don't let that fool you. You are, after all, sitting by the Mystic. A huge spider crawled across the table surely to assassinate me for killing all of its friends throughout the years and when we killed that one too, I was officially grossed out. This was not a daddy long legs, folks. Moments later we swatted a mosquito into some drawn butter (what a lovely way to die...). When I told the waiter about the vermin, his response was a cool "yeah, lots of critters out here." The food is good, the drinks sound delish, but just eat inside. And maybe don't read this review before you eat?

A friend and I walked in on a busy Saturday night. We were quoted a minimal wait by the host. Looking around the dining room I knew the 25 minute quote would be more like 45 minutes. No biggie though, there are plenty of stores at Assembly that are always eager to take my money while I wait. About 40 minutes later we got our text message and made our way back. We were seated in the very back of the restaurant near the line. The positive was that we were far away from all of the buzzing insects, by the front windows, that were just waking up after winter. The negative is that we got to hear the restaurant manager on expo yelling at the line throughout our meal. I love the open-kitchen concept, but when tables are that close to the line, diners get an earful. Our server was very attentive with a good sense of humor, which I always appreciate. I ordered the regular calamari and the blackened fish tacos. The calamari batter reminded me of the fish sticks I used to eat as a kid. So either their batter recipe is not very inventive or I ate some kick ass fish sticks growing up (way to go, Mom!). Regardless, it was cooked well and the portion size was just right. The tacos were also tasty, but the fillings did not measure up to the size of the tortillas. Bites of empty tortilla just don't show off the fresh fish and pickled cabbage well. I would definitely prefer smaller tortillas or two tacos, instead of three, with better proportions. As for my friend, she ordered the lobster roll. She said that it was great, minus the random bits of cartilage that she kept biting into. Hey, I guess if you are spending 30 bucks on a lobster roll, you should get a game of peekaboo cartilage thrown in :). If you find yourself at Assembly shopping or waiting on a movie start time and get the sudden urge to get your seafood on, LSF is a safe bet. But with so many superior seafood choices in the area, don't go out of your way to visit.

This is a great legal sea food located at Assembly Square Mall. The service is always really good (although the kitchen can be slow when they are busy) and the menu is more or less the same as other legal sea foods. I usually get the Chopped Greek Salad as an appetizer and the Shrimp Scampi as my main course but anything I've had from the open flame grill has been great as well. The upside of this legal in comparison to the ones downtown, is that there is always ample parking and mystic river is across the street if you want to take a stroll following lunch/dinner.

This is always a solid place to eat and especially now because its located down the street. Always busy so make a reservation if you have a large party. We got there at 7pm on a Saturday night party of 6 and there was a 90 minute wait but we were able to snag a community table which was fine. IT was very busy and our waitress was a bit slow and overwhelmed but all in all it was good.

Great location at the Assembly Row. Outdoor seating. Huge space with great architecture and stylings like the glass wine room. But I think Legals are starting to get too many locations and it's watering down their label. That's just my opinion anyway. Food is always good but it's pricey for a chain even though owner Roger B does not think he is a chain. Service was great but the food was just good. I'll go back when the weather warms up and sit outside.

Legal by the Mystic is a great addition to Assembly Row. Went on a busy night and had a long wait for a table of five. We were quoted 40-45 min, it took more like 70-80 min, we didn't mind too much as we had a drink at the bar but there were some very annoyed customers up at the front. As we went in a woman started angrily saying "REALLY?!" to us sitting before her party. This is the only thing all night I would say could use some work, better communication at the door to minimize dramatics of hangry people. The manager apologized for the wait and offered us appetizers on the house, a nice gesture. The cocktails are great, I'm excited to try more on future trips. I had the white sangria- perfectly refreshing light citrous taste, also tried my friend's apple sangria which was Yankee Candle level fall in a glass, & my favorite was the Deadrise- a brilliantly crisp cucumber vodka drink. We are a close group of girlfriends so we ordered family style. For appetizers we had the spinach and feta dip- warm flavorful & the crab quesadilla - ok but a little dry. For dinner we shared: Greek salad- served dressed and chop style, solid flavor but nothing to write home about, Lobster pizza -very good the mushrooms and lobster pieces did well together, & 2 orders of blackened swordfish tacos-- big chunks of fish, creamy avocado, and chipotle aioli set it off, best item of the night A+! For dessert we ordered all the chocolate items (Did I mention we were a group of 5 woman?): mousse, slice of cake, and melting fudge cake. Each was perfect. The mousse was lightly chocolate and layered between whipped cream. The chocolate layer cake was extremely rich, for the true chocoholics this is a great choice. The pudding cake is a classic done well, served with vanilla ice cream complementing the warm cake. The service was excellent from the bartenders to the severing staff. Everything was quick to arrive and moved off the table seamlessly once finished. Good choreography and team work by the staff.

Ok so I will start with this. Me and my fiance stepped in the the building. The hostess did greet us and showed us to our seats. The waiter did not recommended anything and also i had to remind him about the bread that he forgot to bring. Also there were two other servers who were constantly speaking a different language to each other which I think is rude considering they speak perfect English. I Ordered A Tuna Burger with Sweet Potato Mash Which Was Really Good I Have To say. My fiance ordered shrimp, scallops and crab cakes. For a single plate that was 28 dollars you would expect to be full. The portions were pretty small for that price. Also my fiance ordered a alcoholic beverage which had so much ice in it, it was impossible to even taste the flavor. IN Conclusion the Reason for My 3 Stars Is this. Better training for the waiters Less ice in your drinks Don't be shy with your portions of food I will come back to this place a month from now and I would hope to see improvement made. I work in a 5 star hotel so I am very observant in the quality of people's work inside a restaurant.

Amazing Food and even better Service. Have been there a number of times. This legal is better than any other location in and around Boston - and I've been to all. Their service is outstanding - one time I had my Mahi Mahi and it wasn't as tasty as I had expected. However I told that to my waiter when asked how my food was. Point to Note: my wife's Grilled Salmon was outstanding. Within minutes the manager was at our table trying to make our experience better. He listened to my suggestion on the Mahi and offered us dessert on the house. We denied gracefully since we were already full :) then he went the extra mile and didn't charge for the delicious Grilled Oysters. And we were very Happy with the experience overall. Awesome Service - can't beat that.

Lots of great things popping up in the Assembly Row area but unfortunately Legal misses the mark. For the young professionals in the area looking for a cool spot for drinks, this is great, but the menu is overpriced and leaves a lot to be desired. The crab cakes were bland, the clam chowder was watery, the salads were overdressed, and the service was sub-par. The best part of the meal was the warm rolls, but they unfortunately were not enjoyed until the end of the meal. There appeared to be no rhyme or reason as to which customers were served rolls and which weren't, so my party specifically requested them after we noticed some customer around us had them. If it's ambience and cool factor you're seeking, give it a try. It's an excellent spot, especially for this warmer weather with the inside/outside seating. But if actual food quality is priority, try some of the other new restaurants popping up or head over to station landing.

Not your daddy's legals. This stripped down version on the Mystic River had a limited menu and my trout was served splayed out flat as a piece of cardboard over some mushy french fries. The seaweed salad(hidden under the fish) was excellent but I came here more for the fish. The chef who plated my dish was clearly untrained in the basics of food presentation. Had better in just about any fish place on the north or south shore, the cape, or Rhode Island.

The fish and chips portion was all French fries for $16 and the crab quesadilla was $14 and was cold.....clam chowder was ok .....I don't care if I go back again

I start by stating I have been to all of the other Legal's in the Boston area and this one does not measure up. Went here with the wife for a nice night out, figured we would try a new place and see how different it was from all the other Legal restaurants. After seating ourselves at the long tables on the far side of the bar, we waited about 15 minutes for anyone to even say "Hello" or "Welcome to Legal on the Mystic" - I guess I expect too much. The best part about the whole night, was the cucumber Hendricks and Tonic we both had. The oysters were pretty good but when it came to my wife's meal, that is where things really went down hill (my half roasted chicken was good). She ordered the fish tacos and when they came out, they looked amazing but they were barely warm. We asked the waitress to take them back and she said she was going to put in another order and it would be out in 10 minutes. During the 10 minutes, the manager approached us and apologized for the experience and said he would make it right. Round 2: At this point, I was finished with my meal. My wife insisted I finish my meal, but there is really nothing worse than eating by yourself. When the new order of Fish Taco's came out they were even worse than the first, they were ice cold. Ice cold. We were actually surprised that this was the type of quality that Legal's would let out of their kitchen. My wife didn't want anything more else and they did take care of the food and all we paid for were the drinks. On the way home, I felt so bad that I stopped at U-Burger to get my wife a meal, that was hot and didn't feel like it had just come out of the freezer. This place won't see us ever again....

Five stars for effort and an overwhelming desire to please. I was greeted warmly and taken to a table near the open kitchen. The space is airy and bright with windows that open to a view of the Mystic. The menu is standard Legal and the beverage list is small but comprehensive. I had a delicious dry Riesling from one of my favorite producers from Margaret River in Australia. It's not often that you see it by the glass, so I was happy to be able to have it with my lunch. My server was very kind and showed enthusiasm for the food and cocktail list offering several recommendations for the things he liked. Two managers touched my table while I was there to make sure that I was enjoying everything. The best part of the meal was watching the kitchen. Rich Valente, the executive chef for Legal, himself was there overseeing things. He was behind the line helping the cooks and interacting with the kitchen managers. I was very impressed that someone from that high up in the company was there during a quiet Wednesday afternoon to make sure that the waters stayed calm. My crab roll was tasty. The bun was nicely toasted in butter and the fries were hot, crisp, and perfectly salted for my taste. The crab was sweet, tasted very fresh, was lightly dressed, and free of shell. I opted for seaweed salad instead of cole slaw and I wish that the portion had been slightly larger, but it was perfect otherwise. Man I love that seaweed salad! I think that with time things will settle in nicely there. There are still some kinks to work out while the staff gets their sea legs, but it's clear that they all want to please. In my book that is the making of a solid restaurant. I enjoyed my meal very much and left with a smile on my face. I would definitely return on my next shopping trip to Assembly Square.

After going to the movies, we stopped at Legal at around 9pm on a weekday night. Which of course meant that there was no wait and we had a free range of seats. I wasn't sure what to expect since this place looked like one of the more "fancy" places at Assembly Row but we have it a shot. Glad we did! First off the drink menu is huge and there is a massive wine list. The alcohol prices weren't too bad and each drink had descriptions under them (most places don't do that anymore). As for the food menu, the menu was massive as well but not in an overwhelming fashion. There were TONS of gluten free options if that is your prerogative. I ended up going for the Rainbow Trout with two sides. The portions were bigger than expected; for both the fish and the sides. I was very full and satisfied by the time we were done. Our hostess was very nice and accompanying. I would definitely suggest this place for any sort of occasion; whether it be a date or a business dinner.

My wife and I went there (3/15) after our usually Sunday afternoon movie+dinner at ASM. We have been going or a while and we always saw Dave a medium age bartender, really chatty, knowledgable. Tonight the bar looked lost, just one bartender and one girl working on cocktails. We order to drink and an some friend clams, they came right away but we have been waiting literally 20 minutes for the drink. The bartender and the girl that was doing cocktails must have walked in front of us for like 20 minutes while waiting for something to drink, I swear I could not believe it. Bartender did not have any knowledge about wines. Also I want to add that since the moment we sat to we left I had an empty glass of beer next to me, left by someone else before us, guess what? Nobody noticed it. They need to get they s*** together, thats not the way to run a bar. I dont think we will go back again.

I love legal seafoods. I like this one in particular because of it's location. They also have a good menu. Not the best but it's good. Overall, Legal on the Mystic deserves 4 stars because it's hard work to look and be great. Their menu usually lacks and that's what kills me but it's still a good location to get some appetizers and drinks.

I have been to this location probably about 4-5 times now. Out of the 5, a majority of those times was good so perhaps the other days were just one-offs. The restaurant itself is conveniently located in Assembly Row amongst the outlets so it is well situated and there is free parking. The decor is slightly more contemporary than your typical Legal's and is very spacious which is good for big parties. They tend to have tables available when all the other restaurants are booked up in the same vicinity so it's a good backup for when your kids are starving and you need food asap. Menu items are the same as their other chains. In particular, I think their crab salad, clam chowder and fried clams are always consistent so those are safe choices for starters. As for entrees, I have tried their gumbo, fish tacos, baked scallops, grilled salmon, etc all of which I would recommend. They also have a great kids menu at reasonable prices. In particular, their fish sticks come with a side of fruit, veggies and of course french fries which my son loves. The only item I would steer clear of is their swordfish. My husband had their swordfish steak which was the special of the night and I had their swordfish tacos. Both dishes were very salty to the point that neither of us really enjoyed it. We ate it because we were starving but at 20-30 bucks a plate, I expected more. I reported it to our waiter and he said it was suppose to be on the salty side and apologized it wasn't what we expected. He comp'ed us with a free dessert and I ordered the pecan pie which was super tasty so I can't complain on service. Despite the disappointing meal that one time, I would come back again but definitely wouldn't opt for any of their plates with swordfish.

First off, I'm a huge fan of the Legal group (I won't say "franchise" because Rodger Berkowitz will skin me). I can honestly say that 99% of the time that we went to Legal, it was always first class. Sadly, this new entry into the Legal family was very disappointing. I had the lobster bisque (good), and he got the oysters. They advertised 5 different types. Except they didn't have 5. They had 2. Now, we didn't come in on a Sunday after 9PM -- this was a Friday at around 8. OK, fine. The server totally disappeared between courses. And my soup bowl was never bussed. It sat on the table through the entire meal. As did used cocktail glasses. The only plate that was removed was my partner' s oyster plate, primarily because there was no more room at the table. I had the grilled trout (excellent), and he had the ciopino. He liked it enough, although it in no way compared to the bouillabaisse I had earlier in the week at Brasserie Jo. We sat for at least 15 minutes after finishing the entree for the server to appear again for coffee/dessert orders. I also question the ambiance -- this is a brand new space, and they elected to go the industrial look. Personal preference, but it's not all that conducive for a dining experience. I give this place a miss. While it is new, we may try it again later next year. I'll watch the reviews here for updates.

Last weekend, my family and I went to Legal on the Mystic for a lunch to celebrate my engagement. I had plans to ask my sister to be my Maid of Honor during lunch by giving the waiter a wine glass I had custom made to say "Will you be my maid of honor?" and having him serve her wine in it... he pulled it off perfectly! I had left a note on open table that I planned to do a little something, and that I would call them with more details. Management here is great and you can tell they truly care, because they called me prior to lunch to make sure they had all the info to make it perfect - I really appreciated this. There were 6 of us, we had a gorgeous table by the window... I really love the vibe and atmosphere of this place. Our server was awesome, food was delicious... I have nothing but good things to say about it! Will definitely be back.

I guess if you have lunch at one Legal you can say you've had them at all Legals. Not to be disappointed. Legal on the Mystic has quality food, is clean and has a friendly wait staff. I sat at the bar for my favorite Legal lunch dish, Baked Schrod and enjoyed every bite. An attentive bar tender made it all the more enjoyable. My only complaint was they had the TVs tuned to all my favorite sports channels but didn't turn on the closed captions. I tried unsuccessfully to read lips for most of the meal until I asked the bar tender to turn closed captions on which he immediately addressed. Definitely will return.

This is a brand new decor restaurant. The seafood here is pretty fresh and come with many decent sides. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. The wellfleet oysters are a must and tuna for a starter. Sitting next to the window is a good choice for the river view. Will I return? Of course. Expect to eat here every week. You cannot go wrong with anything you order.

Had a delicious seafood casserole at the bar, service was prompt and the bartender very nice. Place was packed on a Friday night but didn't affect us (noise level and service were fine). Delicious - and potent! - sangria. SO had a somewhat flavorless mahi-mahi and similarly disappointing regular calamari. We weren't offered dessert or coffee before being given the check, which struck us as odd but gave us the chance to go check out PAUL cafe down the street. Overall, pleasantly surprised!

Food was good, portions are very small compared to the legals down at the seaport in Boston. Service was good both times I went. The sangria is very good as well!

ALWAYS A FAVORITE. A friend was visiting from Kansas and had never had clam chowder before. Of course, I immediately thought of Legal. We went to the Assembly Row location (my first time there) at 6:30pm. We were seated immediately and ordered drinks. The Legal sangria is my favorite sangria to date and I get it every time I go. My friend and I ordered the clam chowder (of course) and got warm fresh dinner rolls delivered to our table with the chowder. DELISH. She ordered the everything spiced tuna for dinner and I got the grilled scallops with jasmine rice and sautéed spinach. The scallops were cooked perfectly and had amazing flavor. The rice and spinach were perfect accompaniments. I've had the spiced tuna before and enjoyed it very much. We planned on getting dessert but we were way too full so we decided to skip it this time. Legal is always great and I will be coming back very soon for the scallops. And some more chowder.

The first time we went in the fall of 2014 I would rank the experience as four stars or even five. I had Swordfish kabobs which were really tasty and I remember quite enjoying my cocktail. So we returned this week anticipating a good or great experience. However, we left disappointed overall. The oysters were fine. My cosmo was good enough, though I thought the cocktails tasted better last time. However, we were very disappointed with the main dishes. Our salmon was not thoroughly cooked and the jasmine rice was not very good, just edible, and in fact I think my brand of rice at home from Whole Foods is probably of better quality. The grilled aspargus was fine. The side salad contained just a few very rough lettuce leaves, should have been better quality. So we found our experience varied considerably by what we ordered, but overall we did not enjoy it and would have been happier with home cooking on our own grill. Service was always pleasant and the booths were comfortable with a nice open layout so environment was good. Bottom Line: Unfortunately, this place is not any better than your average Legal Seafoods, with a slightly nicer decor.

It's a Legal. You get what you pay for. It's not cheap but it's very good. Fish and chips, fried scallops, and Anna's baked scrod was great. Get an Julius Escher beer, awesome.

This is a first. The manager of this restaurant wanted so badly to convince me that he was right and that I was wrong that he trotted out half of his staff to individually stand at my table and argue with me. It did not get heated. There were never any raised voices, but clearly, the manager was on a misguided mission to try to fend off a poor review by making me believe a falsehood about the fish they served me. I had ordered Cod, but what I was served was not Cod. I explained to a server as she passed by. I explained it again to another who said she would check on it. The manager came over and desperately tried to make me believe it was cod. Their argument? "It says so right here on your check. See? It's says Cod." None of them could even discuss the qualities of cod (its distinctive texture, thickness, and firmness). When I pointed to my plate, explaining that I was served something else, a weak soft slab, they had no response except to say that it says "cod" on my check. I was perplexed at having two servers, the male host, a cook from the kitchen, and the manager each visit our table to try to convince me I was wrong. That's how you treat a customer? Tell him he's wrong repeatedly until he's lost his appetite and nauseated by the harassment? The menu had a choice of Fish 'n Chips or Fried Cod and chips. I ordered the Cod because I love cod and have eaten it hundreds of times all over the world including throughout New England. What I was served was not the distinctively firm codfish. Instead, I was served a thin slab of some other type of unidentifiable fish that was certainly not cod. The worst part was the hassle given to me by the staff. I did not break my form though, or lose my cool. I couldn't get mad when I realized how stupid their main argument was. "Here's your receipt. See? It says cod." It's laughable. I explained calmly repeatedly, that the receipt may say cod, but what you are looking at, here on my plate, is not cod. They offered no explanation to support what was the type of fish on my plate. They couldn't even offer a simple supporting description of the characteristics of cod. They did not know the difference. They just followed the boss' orders to stand at my table trying to convince me I was wrong. Yes, that's really going to make the customer happy. Maybe try water boarding next time. This is a dumb as it gets folks. I'll never return to this chain, which is run like a lowly fast food joint. If you ask around, I'm sure you'll get plenty of other horror stories. Legal Seafood, after all, is really just a racket. Incidentally, the manager did comp my meal, but my time is worth more than that, especially if you spend it challenging my dignity. This cheap bribe to avoid a bad review was another unwise waste. One final note: Allowing for the very remote possibility that the fish I was served was truly some part of a codfish, whatever it was, it had been transformed into something more closely resembling soggy press board than cod. No restaurant should display Cod on the menu and serve leather coated cardboard in its place. Even McDonalds does better than this.

We took a seat at the bar on a weekday for lunch . The bar was not full at all and there were 2 bartenders. It took a while got someone to give us menus and then take our drink order . After some time passed our drinks arrived , hat was after we flagged the bartender down to ask about our drinks Food was excellent , no complaints there at all !! The bartenders were horrible , the service they gave was beyond disappointing . We not be going back to this location again .

The 3 stars is because the food was great and the hostesses were sweet, professional and full of smiles. Our server, chelsea, was either inexperienced or in a huge rush to get out of there because she forgot everything. We waited more than five minutes for a greeting or a drink order. Our oysters and calamari came, but our bread, marinara sauce and silverware never came. When we asked the girl who brought our apps that we also ordered marinara sauce, she rolled her eyes and looked extremely upset. We had to awkwardly ask the hostesses to get the bread, and one of the bussers to bring us silverware and napkins. We felt extremely neglected from our server, and had we not been near the hostess station, I can only imagine how much longer we would've waited. I never tip as low as I did tonight, but I did not find it appropriate to tip on service. Thank you to the hostesses who made it as enjoyable as possible.

I have been to Legal many times, and my favourite spot is by the bar. I like the bartenders I have met and interacted with, most are amazing except for the one tonight. Older guy who clearly isn't concerned with customer service. My husband and I went in for a drink and he tells us they close in 15 minutes, we say great that gives us time for 1 drink. He says no I already called last call! Really?! So giving us a beer would have been a problem... my only assumption is this person isn't a bartender because I honestly cant phantom why he wouldn't want to sell a drink. I think from now on we go only when our favourite people are there.

A group of 4 of us went out last weekend and had a great experience. We were originally told the wait would be an hour to an hour and half, so we put our name in, but assumed we'd find a table at nearby restaurant more quickly. We were surprised to get a text to say our table was ready(the best way to notify someone their table is ready in my opinion) about 30 minutes later. The food and service was great! My husband splurged on the king crab legs and wasn't disappointed.

Just had the worst customer service from the older chick at the bar(Sunday Night). She never acknowledged me while she was dusting off the the booze bottles... GOT THE MESSAGE! I'll try again but if I see her on duty it's a total 180 and going somewhere else ! I want to like this area and I've been striking out w/ the last couple of visits to Assembly:( What's the deal with that!) this review is based on service and not on the product.

Great place! Seafood casserole was amazing and the service was great too. Went here for dinner on a Saturday evening two months after it opened. The place was busy, and we were told that there would be a 45 minute-1 hour wait, but we were seated after about 20 minutes, so we got very lucky. Our server, Shannon, was friendly, attentive and quick. The restaurant was clean and had a good seating arrangement, that didn't make you feel like you were bumping into others. We ordered the Crab Enchiladas, Tuna Sashimi and the Crab Cake, and all of them were delicious. Our drinks (that we ordered at the bar while waiting for the table), were a bit of a hit or miss - my wife's really liked her Sangria, but my Whiskey Old Fashioned had too much ice (almost as though it was crushed), which diluted the drink pretty quickly, and the drink in itself wasn't that good. For dessert, we ordered a Boston Creme Pie, which tasted good, but the layers kept breaking when we tried to scoop through. Overall, our experience on a busy Saturday evening was great. The staff is courteous and attentive, the food is delicious, but the drinks could use a bit more work.

Portions were very small for the price crab cake was very tasty and fresh one of the better ones. For dinner menu only Went back for the late night menu ordered the crab cake again. And I couldn't find it in the Hugh bun on my plate. Not really worth it at all. But the waitstaff was very attentive and nice.

Friday late after noon with the boyfriend and a friend, it was a decent amount of people in there. We ordered cauliflower, calamari Thai style and popcorn shrimp for starters. It was all tasty. I like how they marinated the cauliflower. For the main entree we ordered the shrimp scampi and fish&chips. Decent food. Our waiter was perfect. But he did not introduce himself. He wore a red frame glasses.

I am a BIG fan of Legal Seafoods. Aquarium and Seaport are my two favorites. However, a big thumbs down for this new one in Assembly Square. The stars are for the service, which was very good. Fried oysters were soggy and the portion was really small, I counted 6 or 7 oysters in each plate. We had a large party and everyone got something different. Sword kabobs were dry, the salads looked weak, NO bake stuffed lobsters. My steamed lobster didn't have the snap and bite of the other locations. Maybe just growing pains, but starting to resemble a chain more and more

Went for lunch and sat at a table that was inside, but open to the outside. Enjoyed the feeling of being outside, but a bit more comfortable being at these tables. Had fried clams as an appetizer. They were delicious! They took a very long time to be served but when the check came, they had been taken off the bill. Great service on their part to do that. Lobster rolls were a decent size. Prefer a little more mayo, but still good. Enjoyed our first visit here.

I just got home from dinner tonight with my fiancé's family. His uncle was visiting from Singapore so it was a family reunion. We were looking for a nicer seafood restaurant with ample parking so we thought this would be a nice place to go. The restaurant is beautiful - open windows, patio, communal tables, etc. I imagine it'd be even more beautiful on a warmer evening. Tip - If someone in your group has a handicap, make sure you request a non-bar/standard table, especially for a large party. In our party of 10, one grandmother uses a cane and another a walker. Turns out there's a bar table that can seat 10. They had to scramble to pull together tables so our grandmothers can sit easily. Dinner was off to a good start until our drink orders came in. I had ordered the Sauvignon Blanc flight (three 2oz glasses) and my fiancé a beer. The server was getting ready to place the drinks down when all of a sudden a waterfall of beer and wine came pouring down on top of me, luckily only on the left side of my body. My fiancé got wet but not as bad. I wasn't upset but more shocked that it happened. I got up to go to the bathroom to dry up. A lady (maybe GM?) told me that I would get reimbursed for dry cleaning. They gave me a slip to fill out in which we thought, this must happen a lot if there's a slip for it! The server was very apologetic. The lady checked up on me when I got out of the bathroom, apologized and reiterated the fact that I was going to get my dry cleaning reimbursed. I was being a good sport about it and joked with them. Accidents happen. Thank goodness for my denim jacket for catching a bulk of it and my skirt that dried up quickly using the hand dryer in the bathroom. My hair smelled but that was okay. I couldn't imagine sitting at dinner soaking wet! The food was standard for Legals. However, the appetizers were good - fried pickles, calamari, cauliflower. Bread was a bit stale. Two out of the three wines were really good. The chocolate mousse parfait was good but would have preferred just the mousse instead of layers of whipped cream. Our server was nice but was slightly overbearing, maybe because of what happened. When we got the bill, I asked my fiance's uncle if we got comped for anything. He said no, but he only skimmed the receipt (he paid for the entire dinner anyway). It probably didn't matter to him. I imagined if we did get something comped they would tell us. So if we got comped for anything, I'll never know. But it doesn't matter at this point, right?

Came here on Xmas evening with two others. Our service experience was similar to another review posted. Our waitress was ABSENT much of the time and we had to chase her down, ask someone else to request something, etc. She seemed somewhat indifferent. In terms of food, the shrimp scampi was great; however, the seared tuna was not seared, but was a grey blob with no sauce, no searing. The fried fish platter had a hunk of stale roll in it..clearly not supposed to be included.... Overall, not a great experience, but we were glad it was open on Xmas day.

My boyfriend and I came here tonight for the first time and we loved it. We were greeted right away and didn't have to wait for a table. We had the mussels to start and they were delicious (little spicy). I had the shrimp tacos and my boyfriend was able to substitute the shrimp tacos for lobster tacos without a problem. They were both amazing! Drinks were also great. Our waitress Joy was so friendly, helpful and always checking in on us. She was awesome and hope to have her as our waitress in the future. All in all we definitely recommend this place!

Went here on Christmas day with my family. It was one of the few places open that day, so I was thankful for that. I had made a reservation via Open Table and the restaurant called the day before to confirm. The booking process was very easy. We were seated before our reservation time, always a good thing. Our server (I believe her name was Ashley) was wonderful, recommending both food and drink choices when asked for her opinion of things. She was personable and made us feel right at home. The establishment uses the team approach to service, so while Ashley took the order, a variety of people brought out the food. The food arrived quickly, was hot and tasted good. The view was nice, but nothing spectacular, given it was late December in Massachusetts. When the weather changes and the trees begin to bloom, the view will be much nicer.

A one off casual dining concept taking its primary design theme from assembly square's early industrial development era and packaging it with Legals traditional undertones and targeting it to a more modern patron thats inline with the bigger Assembly Row development and its marketing concept. Although my definition of Legals Mystic is different. I compare it to going home to your birthplace but finding out that your parents remodeled and you don't recognize the place anymore? I know.....if it wasn't for the old things the new things wouldn't be here. The beauty of Legal Seafoods is that its grown up and we all have bared witness like proud parents. I look at my kids enjoying their meal like i did when i had my first at Legals Park Plaza.....Sometimes things change but great food and memories never do. I would also like to say that legendary service plays a big part in our experience here, even though the menu doesn't have certain items that we are accustomed to the waitstaff and kitchen strives to accommodate and did so with spicy fried calamari!! Our family has a new favorite location - sorry Peabody.

I came in on marathon Monday with a friend. They were packed so we got a seat at the bar that we had to wait a bit for. The bar tender was super chill and really knowledgable. Her drinks were amazing. We went girlie and got espresso martinis. Had a really good time. The bar scene was one I would return to again.

Had dinner last night at the new Legal Seafood at Assembly Row / Mystic River. The food was pretty good for a chain restaurant. I had the fried shrimp and my partner had the shrimp appetizer and the clam chowder. The atmosphere was light and bright with large open windows overlooking the sidewalk. It really has a nice hip / upbeat feeling to it ! The only negative was that service at the bar was very slow. It took about 10 + minutes to place our drink order and receive them. We waited another 15 minutes for the bartender to take our dinner order. We had to ask for more water and flag down the bartender to settle our tab. No one ever came back to ask how our meal was. Basically, it appeared that the bar could have used another bartender / server as they were very busy and the bar area is very large. I believe this location just opened so it appears that have a few issues to work out. We would definitely give this location another try.

Let me start by saying that I love Legal's. I usually go to the Harvard Sq or Prudential locations. I came to this location excited to have a Legal's closer to home with easy parking. Turns out those were the only perks. The ambiance was seriously lacking. Not cozy. Not upscale. The menu seemed abbreviated. We were served our apps without rolls (c'mon, everyone loves those rolls), and our entrees were placed on the table approx three minutes later before we had made a dent in our first course. The waitress never checked in with us and my drink sat empty for over ten minutes, finally being refilled as our check was delivered, thanks I'd rather go have a glass of wine at home by that time. Very underwhelmed and will not return.

I just visited the Legals mystic tonight with my friend niles. We had the best time! Everyone from the door staff to the bartenders (we sat at the bar before a movie) were so friendly and welcoming; No wonder everyone in the restaurant was smiling! The food was top notch and we thoroughly enjoyed our drinks! What fantastic service! Thank you we will be back!

I love Legal on the Mystic! I have been there now twice and have been so pleased with the service. Both Leah and Diamond Dan at the bar are fantastic. They really cared about my experience and making sure I had everything that I needed. The Blueberry Collins on the drink menu is wonderful. I once went to a speciality bar that made me a Strawberry collins, ever since I have been searching for a bar to try and make it for me. Both Leah and Dan went out of their way to make sure they could recreate it for me and checked back in with me to ensure that I enjoyed it. Blew me away. I love the oysters they have, as well as their crab cakes and sweet potato mashed. SO YUM! Last night we had the late night menu, and $5 pizza was huge and quite tasty! Will be becoming a regular here!

Great meal. Got swordfish tacos but came with salsa which I'm not a fan off. Manager had delivered and when I told her, she was so lovely and happy to re make for me. Never made me feel bad for it. Her name was Liz. They were fantastic second time around. Our waiter was Justin D and he too was awesome, friendly, personable and fun!

Oh, Legal. You say you're not a chain, but why does this place scream it? Went here on Saturday for dinner before a movie at Assembly Row. Made a reservation, which turned out to be a good idea because it was packed when we got there at 6. *Tip #1-With all the shopping near by, this place looks packed more often than the usual lunch and dinner times. Make a reservation or expect a wait! Service - Ugh. Probably the best word I can use to describe it. We waited maybe 15 minutes for someone to approach. The girl was nice, but never tried to upsell drinks or appetizers, just wanted to grab our order. There also seemed to be no rhyme or reason to the community table we were sitting near. I watched some groups being escorted to the table by hostesses, and others coming up to groups leaving the table and asking if they could take their seats. That group waited a while to have their table cleared, while the escorted group waited more than 20 minutes (!) to be greeted by a waiter (I actually timed this). There also seemed to be an abundance of hostesses that I watched constantly circle by us. They weren't necessarily looking at us, but it felt intrusive and that they wanted to turn tables quickly. Food - cooked well, no originality. I had the seasonal salad, which was the best of my two food orders, but was severely overdressed. I ordered the rib and shrimp dish off of their Open Flame section, adding broccoli and the sweet potato mash. I'm sorry, but 5 ribs and 3 shrimp, with 2 basic sides, does not a $26 meal make. Tip #2 - not worth the $. I'd rather go to that other chain next door, Papagyo's, because at least I can know what to expect (and not spend a fortune on ok food).

I've been to Legal on the Mystic a couple of times. No surprise that they are busy with the hustling and bustling of a good crowd. Was there Saturday night celebrating a friend's birthday. With 10 plus to accommodate, the staff (managers, waitress, etc) were wonderful. My meal was late (never complained) and the manager demanded it was on them. Had this not happened, I'd still go back. The food is delicious, the vibe is cool and the service was great! Thank you!

We dined at Legal on the Mystic last evening. The food was good. For appetizers we had fried clams, lobster bisque and buffalo shrimp. My cousin loved the clams (she is from Maryland and she said it had been a long time since she had a belly). The buffalo shrimp were delicious-the best I ever had and my son said the bisque was a bit too watery. For dinner we had grilled scallops- yummy, grey sole-really good, rainbow trout-really good, and fish and chips-typically Legals fare. What we didn't like was that the fish was placed on top of the sides. With the rainbow trout you had to push the skin off to eat your sides. For sides we had mashed sweet potatoes, kale and spinach. The kale was a bit tough but flavorful, the mashed sweet potatoes were really good and the spinach was good too. I was a little disappointed that they didn't have some of the Legal's standards like the Jasmine Special, but they did have a nice array of new dishes including a much larger selections of meats. The wait staff has a ways to go, they were polite and accommodating, we had to ask for bread and they offered us dessert before we had our main course. The servers didn't know where to place our appetizers and main course, and we had to help get our drinks off the tray otherwise we would have been wearing them. We tried to stop in last Saturday night but there was a 2.5 hour wait without a reservation. I love the open feel and there are some communal tables (reminiscent of the original Legal Seafood in Kendall Square), one thing missing-a fish tank
