So this isn't a particularly novel idea, but you can't deny they do it well. Imagine two Insomnia Cookies (yes, their cookies are THAT good) with two scoops (three? god knows, but a lot) of ice cream in between. All for $5. I've walked past these guys a few times, but yesterday was a beautiful day and I desperately wanted ice cream, so I decided to try them out. I got the mint explosion with two fudge cookie brownies and it was delicious! I recommend going at with a spoon because trying to eat it as an actual sandwich simply will not work, there's too much food! My only one note was that I also got a snickerdoodle cookie to go and I think it could've been more flavorful. The fudge brownie was a delicious fudgey brownie cookie, but snickerdoodle tasted mostly just like a slightly cinnamon-y butter cookie. If they'd added more salt or some more exotic spices like cloves or nutmeg I think it would've done it a lot of good. That said, still definitely come here.

My roommate and I went to Frozen Hoagies tonight for the first time. She got Nutella cookies with black raspberry and salted caramel. I got the Choc chip cookies with peppermint stick and salted caramel. To say the least, they were incredible. Super friendly cashier! She gave us an idea of what her favorites are and ice cream samples to make the almost impossible decision! Only $5 for a whole lot of goodness.

3 scoops of ice cream and 2 cookies for $5 is a pretty good deal! You can choose two different cookies and ice cream flavors. I tried their cow tracks flavor (basically moose tracks) and their chocolate covered strawberry flavor (a February special), paired with the Nutella chocolate chip cookie and their coconut cookie. The coconut cookie was perfectly chewy and tasted really great with the strawberry ice cream which was a bit minty and very delicious. The chocolatey half of the sandwich was also good but the Nutella cookie was baked for too long and was dry and crunchy. Would have given five stars if not for the hard cookie. Maybe they should consider warming the cookies too before making the sandwich? I love hot cookies with ice cream.. Definitely need to split this giant ice cream sandwich between 2 or even 3 people though.

Unbelievable. Seriously, if you rated this joint any lower than 5 stars then it's evident to me that you didn't involve the snickerdoodle cookie in your ice cream sammo. The only negative is the stress you feel while trying to pick from their multitude of cookie and Ice cream combination.

These hoagies are huge!! And for $5 it's a steal. I got the Nutella and coconut cookies, with chocolate covered strawberry and cow tracks ice cream. The ice cream is good, but it's not super special or anything. The coconut cookie was the perfect texture, but the Nutella one was pretty hard. I think the main appeal of this place is the portion size for such a cheap price and still getting good quality ice cream. Inside is pretty cozy but there's very limited seating (two stools by the window) so don't plan on eating it there.

Create a custom ice cream sandwich from the selection of ~5 freshly baked cookies and ~21 flavors of Chilly Cow ice cream. These hoagies are huge: it's 3 scoops of rich frozen custard per sandwich, piled up taller than a burger. Very, very filling for $5! Overall, my frozen hoagie was just ok. The Mint Explosion ice cream was solid and high-quality, but the Fudge Brownie cookie was sort of dry and could've used a little more chew and chocolate chips. (However, my boyfriend got Snickerdoodle cookie and Vanilla ice cream and thought his was very good.) It was super messy to eat because it started melting and dripping down my arms, and I had to give up on treating it like a sandwich and use a spoon. I think it was about average compared to other ice cream sandwiches I've had at JP Licks and Toscanini's. I personally prefer smaller, more manageable ice cream sandwiches, but I can see the draw of a place like this.

Yum! Just discovered frozen hoagies after a night of Mexican next door. After eating at diddy Reese in Los Angeles and cream in Berkeley I was waiting for the day an ice cream sandwich concept would come to Boston! I don't like the name because hoagies connotates a sub and with the round cookies it's more like a sandwich... But the quality of ice cream and the generous serving size definitely makes up for the price ($5 each.) Do yourself a favor and try two different cookie flavors! Loved the maple and nutella ice cream... Snicker doodle and peanut butter cookies were top notch. Great for splitting! I'll be back soon!

The ice cream sandwiches here are HUGE! The cookies are relatively average (Cookie Guy cookies are far more delicious), but with a heap of ice cream between them, you really cannot tell. My only complaint is that there is little to no seating inside, despite there being a lot of space, so don't expect to linger for too long.

When I first heard about a Frozen Hoagie the conversation went as follows: Yaimani: "Let's go get a frozen hoagie." Yadira: "A frozen-what?" Yaimani: "A hoagie - an ice cream sandwich." Yadira: "Why not just call it that?" Yaimani: "Because then it wouldn't be a hoagie...." What ensued after was the common silly sibling bickering about the words hoagie vs. ice cream sandwich, but after tasting this baby I could care less if you wanted to call it a pressed sandwich. It was amazing! Taking two fresh cookies (prepared in-house from a secret family recipe) and sandwiching generous scoops of locally made ice cream (Chilly Cow Ice Cream), the final product is huge. And by huge, I mean you-can-make-a-meal-outta-of-it kind of huge. To break down what we got, we ended up getting two hoagies: the first, M&M and chocolate brownie cookies (yes you can mix cookies) flanking vanilla and chocolate chip ice cream, and the second was chocolate chip cookies with Cow Tracks and chocolate caramel ice cream. YUM! Now, is it too much? Maybe, but you definitely get your money's worth.

I had a hoagie with snickerdoodle cookies and chocolate caramel ice cream. Delicious! The only reason I didn't go with 5 stars, caramel was not noticeable in ice cream. But on a hot day, a delicious treat! And huge to boot...

Feeling very disappointed as we sit here in Frozen Hoagies. Our cookies are very stale and flavorless. We taste neither fudge nor brownie in the fudge brownie cookie. The cow tracks ice cream is reminiscent of toothpaste and is generally unpleasant. If you are in the area, it is well worth your walk to Jp licks.

Frozen Hoagies is great. I haven't actually had the true "hoagie" in a while because it's too cold for me for ice cream; however, they sell the cookies separately and they are fantastic. The coconut is delicious but the best is the salted Nutella chocolate chip. A buttery chocolate chip cookie brought to another level with with a Nutella filling and sprinkling of sea salt on top!
