I went here for the first time last week. I was not impressed at all. The staff were not friendly at all. When my boyfriend and I stepped up to the counter, we were ignored by the lady counting the cash. She did not say that someone would be with us in a moment . She did not even say that she was not able to take our order. She ignored us completely. We waited in lined for 7 minutes until someone acknowledged us. When we finally did get to order the girl who took got it wrong three times!!! Anyways, the food was mediocre and the service was horrible

Okay here's the problem with this place, great bagels, and selection, great coffee, and the set up is pretty cool, but what absolutely kills it, is the lack of service. It's so awful. They don't know what there making half the time and forget to fill orders or hand you the wrong item. I'm not speaking as if the service was bad one time, it was awful at least 3 times. That's unacceptable. The manager needs to hire all new staff immediately or give them basic service training. It should be embarrassing to them that they are losing customers over service not quality of product. So place had crazy potential but now, not so much.

This place is delcious! I love the bagel sandwiches, soup and salads. It's a great little place to grab a quick lunch or breakfast with a friend. They also have smoothies and coffee. This place does not disappoint the taste buds!

my wife and I started going here based on a recommendation from her fellow friend / school teacher....Love this place........I go pretty much everyday, 'til my work schedule changes then will only be able to go a few times a week........Their regular coffee is better then DD's IMO.....For bagel sandwiches, favorite is the works toasted, one egg and well done bacon.........superb.......and it's not dripping with grease like some places......anyhow we are big fan's, keep up the good, I mean great work and service! K.O.

I can not believe the great reviews for this place. I wanted to give a very different point of view. My husband and I live nearby and we have gotten Gunther Tooties on three separate occasions. Let me start off by saying I was very excited when I saw the signs for this place and we have been watching for them to open. We have gotten them three times for take out since they opened a couple weeks ago. Two times the bagels were burnt, the third time I got them to go and toasted them at home. I don't think that a bagel should be black under the cream cheese. We got coffee drinks once which were also burnt and were bad enough that they were just thrown out. With Starbucks on the same block for about the same price, we would not try their coffee drinks again. My husband thought the caprese and tuna salad sandwiches were ok. I thought the caprese had too much onion on it for my personal preference. The cookies that we have had were really very good, if you don't mind picking off the burnt parts. (They really are good enough to be worth it). I had to actually ask to not get the burnt cookies one time. I don't understand how they could put out peanut butter cookies that are dark dark brown while others are light brown (as they should be). Even the lighter colored ones had burnt edges and bottoms. We will continue to try this place because we really want it to get better and work out. I will update if this happens. For now, I am sorry about the negative review. They just opened up so they are probably still working out kinks. The staff were very nice each time that we were in which is why they didn't get one star.

The sandwiches are sufficient. The drinks are ok. The baked goods are ok. The location is convenient and they have a pretty comfortable setup. I join a weekly knit/crochet group here and we camp out on the couches by the window. They have heaps of outlets and wifi for when I need to sequester myself away from the XBox and get work done. The bathroom is a short hike away in the back of the building and the staff is sometimes friendly but usually indifferent. When I've been there around closing they're often all but shooing us out the door 20 minutes before closing time.

So, just an FYI- this isn't a sit-down breakfast place. It's more of like a starbucks-finagle a bagelish type place. BUT, if you're looking to grab a bagel, a bagel sandwich, a coffee, and to just chill or have take out- this is definitely an awesome place. My bagel was fresh, my coffee was delish and the staff was friendly. WAY better than dunkin donuts or starbucks, looks as though everything is freshly brewed/baked.

Good bagels in this region of the country can be hard to find. In fact, you can travel the entire state of New Hampshire, and well... the horror. Not so with Gunther Tooties. Their bagels are probably some of the best in the area, on a par with Atlantic Bagel, and not quite up to Bagel World. Ah, Bagel World... but that is another review. Guther Tooties' bagels are fresh, large and possess that certain chewy, bagelly texture that is not quite a baked pretzel and far from the foam-processed, cellophane-wrapped varieties pawned in your supermarket's bread aisle. The store has a good selection, from the typical seeds, poppy and sesame, to "the works" to French Toast and something called "spinoccoli. There is also a decent offering of sandwiches, of which the roast beef was lean, rare and tasty. The coffee is good. As another reviewer mentioned, it's not Starbucks (but what is?), though it is definitely a step up from Dunkin' Donuts (but what isn't?). Service was friendly, price for a dozen was decent, and I have been back several times. Overall, good, fresh local bagels. Go. Tip: try the cucumber dill cream cheese. Really good. With smoked salmon? Forgetaboutit.

I was excited to see this place open up just as a variety of places to get coffee/breakfast in the area. I was pleased with the selection of bagels and cream cheeses they had as places like Starbucks and Dunkin' do not have nearly as much of a selection. My roommate and I both ordered breakfast sandwiches and I was excited to see a man in the back cracking the eggs himself and cooking our eggs. The coffee I had was ok, a little weak if you ask me (and I don't really like strong coffee). The sandwiches were good but not the best I've ever had and I thought the quality of the bagel could have been a little better, but having went to college in the NYC area maybe I am just a bagel snob. The atmosphere was nice and so was the decor. The sandwich menu looked really delicious so I'd like to try that as well as some of their other bagel and cream cheese selections and maybe then it will get another star added to the review.

I was SO EXCITED to find GOOD bagels in Quincy today! I have been here 7 years and tried every bagel in the area, including local bakeries and none of them seem to understand bagels.... until now! My bagel was crunchy and chewy - JUST the way a bagel should be - with a wonderful savory flavor. My cafe au lait was nice - just a tiny bit bitter but still quite tasty. They have over a dozen types of bagels which they say they bake fresh every day, many types of cream cheese, sandwiches, paninis and good coffee. (I have not tried the sandwiches or paninis, so I cannot speak to their quality - yet.) All with free internet connection and PCs to use if you don't want to bring in a laptop. Apparently they have other stores on the South Shore but I am thrilled to have them in Quincy. Woohoo!

Love this place breakfasts sandwiches are great! Snicker doodle iced coffee a must!! Only complaint there's inconsistency on the quality of peoples attitude behind the counter. Some of the employees have goods days and bad days I guess. Happier employees would make the place that much better :)

Bland bagels and ever more tasteless cream cheese! Fast service, though I got a bagel with jalapeño creamer cream cheese. Just blahness. Menu is huge but primarily it's all the same. This will be my last choice.

Lox and Bagel! Lox and Bagel! I am sure this is the only place in Quincy you can get it.

I walked into the Cafe because I heard pretty good reviews from various people...right off the bat the customer service was horrible! I ordered a latte and the lady wouldn't even look up at me to address me. I also ordered a blueberry bagel that tasted like an onion bagel. I was not impressed and would not go back based on there horrible customer service

Spinach, egg white and goat cheese sandwich, toasted coconut coffee and old school hip hop on a Sunday morning... Yessss Great spot, steps from the Quincy Center T stop with lots of great options for breakfast and lunch. The above-referenced sandwich was delish - made with fresh sauteed spinach and creamy, yummy goat cheese. It was excellent! They also have a good amount of seating - including a few comfy chairs to lounge in while sipping toasted coconut coffee and reading a book.

I moved to Quincy about a year ago and have tried a few places around during that time. Great place, fast service, friendly people, good food, and quality coffee/lattes/etc. Not much more to ask for from a small breakfast/lunch joint. This has become a usual weekend visit for me.

  • Ben O.

Adorable little neighborhood cafe in Quincy Center baking a both traditional and fun array of NY-style bagels, which pale in comparison to the real thing but are still a very competent rendition and easily among the best in Quincy. The French Toast bagel is to die for, and their sandwiches and coffee are also very solid. Tootie's has a lot of potential to be a neighborhood institution, and will be with a couple minor adjustments. One qualm, albeit minor, is the floor plan inefficiency presented by these obnoxious display case columns that constantly disrupt the traffic flow of customers leaving and entering the store. The staff is composed mainly of young employees who appear reluctant to engage with customers. An occasional smile and hello can go a long way! Overall, lovely little place.

The customer service on this date was the worst I've ever experienced. I ordered 6 sandwiches ranging from BaconEggCheese to regular cream cheese. The order was wrong which is potentially okay. But the remedy / attempt at it was insulting and nightmarish. When I called upon getting home and informed them of the issue. The bacon egg and cheese had 1 egg per sandwich even though I requested 2 over medium per sandwich. Wrong combination of bagels too. So I said give me the cinnamon sugar bagel with CC that you forgot. And one additional Bacon Egg and Cheese on French toast bagel with the two eggs, because I had someone at home toss a bagel out, and recycle the egg on another sandwich. My personal sandwich fixing techniques are not under question and I ask you not to judge. Now, I get back and the guy rings me up for $2.48. I immediately say "is that how much I'm getting back?" With clear sarcasm and undertone implying my frustration. At this point I was clearly shooting the messenger and he was out witted from the snap. I said not only am I not paying for it but if you don't give me my food I'll call the cops because this is a rip off and I'm being bent over by Uncle Sam. I look over his shoulder and see a woman, potentially the manager or owner monitoring or maybe eaves dropping. I shift my attention because clearly the whole "explaining to an irate customer how he's wrong" thing wasn't working. This was my first experience at Gunthers and certainly my last. This place had a "franchise" feel to it. So if you work in any capacity for this New England Bagel shop- do your self a favor and hang up a UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT sign and make it happen. The kicker? The best part? I open my bag when I'm home again thinking they fought but at least I got my sandwich. a bagel with 3 eggs. That's right. The manager in all her infinite wisdom and glorious power thought that would satisfy me! Clearly this person has no competence or understanding as they tried to charge me for a 3 egg on a bagel instead of just giving me a free on after driving back there twice and wasting my time and money. This staff is micromanaged under a dictator who hates America. And the bagels were of lesser quality too! Look elsewhere people. Think "The interview" meets "Waiting" with less laughs and more Kim Jong-Un.

Unfortunately, I am writing this review from the Quincy Medical Center ER, where my wife was taken by ambulance from her job when she got god-awful sick to her stomach shortly after eating a turkey and havarti sandwich from this place. I'm not saying it'll happen to you, just that it happened this time. They only get a second star because my wife says the waitstaff was very helpful and polite. Will she be going back? Doubtful.

I'm not sure if it was a one-time deal or if their hours aren't updated- online it says they close at 8 pm on weeknights, and I couldn't find a sign with the hours on it at the store- but they closed at 7 pm tonight. They clearly weren't happy to have a customer show up at 6:30, which is understandable, but it was uncomfortable to be sitting there while they were shutting off lights and cleaning, especially since I had no idea they would be closing soon (I only found out when I finally asked the guy who was cleaning). I've been there twice and haven't had the best customer service, but they do have good coffee.

I visited this place with a friend this weekend. The menu looked great so I was excited to try out a variety of the food items, especially the bagels as I from the NY area where bagels are sold practically everywhere. However, my experience was really disappointing. I have severe food allergies but I am always a patient and understanding customer. I know it can be stressful and a pain to look up every single ingredient. So - I informed the guy at the cash register and asked him if the bagels were made in house - he said yes. I told him about my specific allergies (dairy) and asked if he had the ingredients for the bagels, which he curtly and quickly said that they did not have - they (apparently) had no nutritional information on them whatsoever, which I found very strange. When I mentioned my food allergies again and asked what he recommended might be safest, he looked a bit annoyed. I suggested the salads, which he said they could do. I inquired about the rest of the ingredients which he said would be fine. I paid and waited for the salad. When I picked it up, the grilled chicken looked like it had unfamiliar ingredients (almost like bread crumbs or seasoning). I'm always very careful, so I went up to the register again and asked another employee about the specific ingredients for the chicken. He was nice but said that he did not know as the person who makes the chicken wasn't there at time. I asked if he has any info on the ingredients and he did not. Here's the thing. I have had food allergies for over 20 years. I am patient and understanding - polite and not picky. I just found it VERY odd that they did not have the ingredients available for these items. How can you make your bagels in house but not have the ingredient list on hand??? Same with the chicken....The staff seemed poorly trained/informed on food allergies and a bit annoyed, to be honest. I understand it can be a pain, but I am polite, paying customer. I expected better service for what I have heard it a great place to go and eat... There are many other restaurants and cafes that do SUCH a better job of making sure this information is available for customers with severe food allergies. It so common these days so I was really shocked and disappointed that there was a such a lack of awareness and availability of information. I will definitely be eating elsewhere.

Delicious, fresh bagels. They have many different options of bagels and also cream cheese. They also do lunch items as well, salads, soups, sandwiches etc. The staff is friendly, and it gets crowded, there are seats inside, but there is also a big couch area which takes away from some better table options they could have.

  • Katia M.

Pretty good bagel, nice people at the counter, and fast service. Close to the T so you can grab one on your way out, and the parking isn't usually too hard to deal with. The bagel selection is actually pretty diverse, so you gross sweet bagel people have something to eat and the normals have our onion and stuff :)

  • M. P.

Their bacon scallion cream cheese is to die for! Their bagels are much softer than any bagel I've gotten at DD's or Panera's. They have a pretty solid cafe menu. I've had a tuna melt from them and it was delish. It comes packed in a paper lunch box with a napkin and chips. Really convenient! They also have many coffee flavors like snickerdoodle or coconut. I've had the mocha latte, coconut coffee and the chai. Both were good.

Started working in the office building above Gunther Tooties and when it started pouring I thought it was a good idea to try for a quick bagel lunch. Got the cinnamon raisin bagel with regular cream cheese and was disappointed. The bagel had not been fully cooked through and was doughy inside. Pretty hard and overall I could have gone to Dunkin Donuts across the street for a better bagel. Liked that I could go in the back door but its not a place I would go other than extreme downpour.

  • J S.

I fashion myself a wee but if a bagel snob and while this place is "pretty good" on the bagel front, it excels at pastry and panini. We got a cinnamon raisin bagel, a chicken havarti panini, & a chocolate pecan tort. The sandwich was in a word, amazing. Chicken breast sliced in half, moist, and full of flavor. A light pesto, with fresh onion and grilled red peppers. The tort was delicious as well. Give them a try!

I'm giving GT 2 stars because I have gone there on 3 occasions for 1 thing and 1 thing only and that is for their "BLUEBERRY BAGEL" and ALL 3 times the bagel taste like an ONION BAGEL. Looks like it would taste great, BUT it does not come close to a Blueberry taste. Listen GT... Come up with a new recipe or STOP selling this flavor.

I've been there twice this week, and I was disappointed both times. I had the turkey noodle soup. I've had better. The turkey was sparse if you could call it turkey. What I think was the turkey was really a turkey loaf - it had skin on the bits - like bologna. It was more broth than anything else. The next time I visited there - I ordered a blueberry bagel toasted with cream cheese. It was barely toasted. It was barely toasted. I think that the cream cheese should be on the side - may I should have ordered it that way. Way too much cream cheese for me. I also ordered coffee - please don't fill it to the rim b/c it doesn't leave room for milk etc.... The staff is aloof. Get rid of the tip cup. You are waiting on people at a counter, not serving them.

When we moved to our building we thought the proximity to Starbucks was a plus. We went once and along the way passed this place. I haven't been back to Starbucks since. I've never had a long wait - although i always go on weekends. The staff have always been friendly and courteous. The bagels choices are excellent (french toast bagel, anyone?). The homemade cream cheese alone is worth the trip. Today was my first time trying their seasonal pumpkin cream cheese - wow. I love the decor - very not-Quincy. The couches are comfortable and good for people watching. I wish there were more places like this in the area.

I was on my way to Starbucks when I passed this place. I thought I'd give it a try. Their pumpkin bran muffin was to die for. This place is awesome. I only had the one muffin, but it definitely made me want to come back. The staff is friendly, and the place appeared clean. I'm so glad that I found this place. The quality of the muffin surpassed that of Starbucks or Dunks.

come on guys. Let's be really polite and nice when you answer the phone and get the order correct, okay? I do enjoy coming here, but the last few times, you've messed up the order...and it's really quite simple. I hope it get's better.

This place is perfect...best bagels in boston by far also made in house cream cheese..also the smoked salmon we love as well as gt club... we come here every morning almost...they are all friendly and very kind. Coffee also matches the food amazingly good. 5 stars

Big selection of bagels. Coffee is decent. Nice atmosphere. Sandwiches are a bit greasy. I wouldn't go out of my way to go here but it's pretty good.

  • Bill M.

Food and service = fantastic! Iced coffee...meh. Overall I love Gunther Tooties. Their bagels are the best around, although the works (everything) bagel could be a little more generously seeded. I also love the breakfast sandwiches. It's nice to get a coffee house breakfast sandwich where the egg and bacon are actually cooked on a griddle, and not in some microwave.

Cool place. Nice, comfortable, clean looking cafe. I tried the croissant with egg and cheese during rush hour and had the sandwhich in my hands in 5-8 minutes. My friends ordered a plain bagel with grape jelly but the dude making them put strawberry so we had to wait another 8 minutes and it was open campus day for final exams and we only had 45 minutes for lunch (really not a lot of time considering traffic and long lines and getting back in time to the 4th floor for a biology exam) but nice atmosphere and food. I would definetly come back! *Update! 10-26-11 After multiple visits, on this chilly day I ordered a 12 0z. white hot chocolate and a french toast bagel with chive cream cheese (What can I say I like sweet and savory things :) There were about 5 other customers already there and eating and chatting my white hot chocolate with whole milk came in 2 minutes and my bagel came in 3. Less than 5 minutes for my order yippie! For the French toast flavored bagel it was a bit chewy but then again it is a pretty thick bagel, but it tasted awsome with the Chive cream cheese! I love all things sweet & Savory and sometimes creamy so this combination was like Ka-Pow! The white hot chocolate tasted okay for the first few sips; and even though it was a '12 oz.' cup (though it looked like a 8 oz. cup) it became unbearable and too much after a while. I wanted to gag. The whole milk really made things too creamy. I also couldn't taste the chocolate anywhere. It felt like I was drinking baby formula, it tasted powdery and so 'artificial' (I know how that taste like and its just too much for me, I would rather walk across into the galleria and get a hot chocolate from Dunkin Donuts. ). I probably won't order the white hot chocolate again. I still would keep my 4 star raiting because the hot chocolate killed it. Overall I would just come here for the bagels and special cream cheese flavor assortments.

After living in the Q for over a year I made my first trip to Gunther Tooties. My thoughts? Why have I waited so long?! The interior is so cute... reminds me of a bookstore cafe with the light wood and big comfy couches. The bagel choices were amazing... of course I went with cheese because it is one of my major food groups. The barrista suggested the sun-dried tomato and basil cream cheese... done. Deeeeee-lish. I also got a large iced coffee and I loved that I could add my own milk and sweetener. The price was really reasonable too compared to the other local coffee shops. The icing on the cake? Outside tables to people watch while enjoying my breakfast fare.

I had to take a day off work due to a borked car. Since I was already awake I decided I needed to be one of those people who lounges about and reads in a cafe for the morning. I was also STARVING That brought me to Gunther Tooties. I had a egg white, spinach and goat cheese bagel sandwich. HOLY CRAP YUM!! The service and coffee was mediocre but I barely remember since the bagel was so good and the couch so comfy.

I live close to this place so I go here sometimes for a few things that I like, especially the salads. Now, I've had very bad experiences with this place and good ones. I can advise you to check your to-go bag for everything like bread, ingredients, dressing, whatever you need, because a lot of times I either didn't get the right dressing, no bread, no cranberries for the cranberry salad, or other things. I've had some pie here one time and it was HORRIBLE, stale, small, disgusting, and I paid about $4 for it. The bagels are OK, but sometimes not fresh. And paying over 3 Dollars for a bagel that's meh, is not right. Even if I like a couple of things that they serve, like the sandwiches and the salads, I prefer not to get them too often, they are too pricey. Actually now they raised the prices, which is a huge mistake, I think. The owner is very argumentative and sometimes stingy from the way he prepares the salads. So I know some other employees do a way much better job than him and are very friendly, that's why I still go there from time to time.

Pretty good lunch. Salads (chicken, cranberries & goat cheese) very good. Panini ok but over-toasted. Reasonable price and staff is friendly.

I made a huge mistake today ordering a to go salad from this place. My receipt time stamp is 11:26 and I did not receive my salad until 11:54. That is my whole lunch hour. During that time other people, who came in after me received their to go orders. Furthermore, my cranberry salad didn't have any cranberries in it. The fork and napkins were also missing. I guess this place is done.

I never liked either coffee or bagel. I stumbled upon this place when I moved to Quincy and thought what the heck, let me give it shot. The coffee is very nice, they roast it themselves and I have no idea what they do differently. The bagel is soft, not like other bagel places. I don't like their pastries at all. But the coffee and bagel and their cream cheese are seriously first class.

Great bagel breakfast sandwich, great chipotle roast beef sandwich or simply a great place to chill with a cup of coffee. Best spot in Quincy Center!

The bagels and sandwiches are great, coffee and specality drinks not so much. However, the WORST of it all is the customer service. I have witness more than enough of rudeness and horrible services for me NOT to go back.

The best bagels around, they're fresh & not doughy. They have a lot of bagel & cream cheeses choices. They also have free wi-fi.

Quick, yummy bagels. Staff at this location is just okay, I've had my orders goofed a few times. If you are going on a weekend/ busy morning, have a first and second choice bagel, they do run out of the most popular/ delicious ones.

  • Mallory S.

We tried this place for lunch today.. I had the Roast Beef Chipotle sandwich and it was decent although I didn't taste any chipotle. The food took awhile as the waitress said that she had made it wrong the first time and had to start over. Pros: A lot of tea, coffee, sandwich and bagel selections. Good seating/space for individuals or groups. Free WiFi Cons: Slow service.. but friendly! Bathrooms are a bit of a hike and locked - so get the key before you head down there. I would like to try the coffee and bagels in the future. Two sandwiches and two drinks came to $18.

I go to this place a few times a week since it's on my way to work, and I've never really had a problem with waiting too long for an order, or something missing/being wrong with my order until I read the yelp reviews. The people are really nice, sometimes a little inattentive and slow, but that doesn't stop me from coming. Theres one employee that knows my usual breakfast/coffee order which is great. I've only had an order incorrect once (I asked for chicken on my caprese sandwich and for some reason they put avocado instead... let's just say it was probably a language barrier issue), and I've only had to wait more than the usual few minutes for my breakfast sandwiches or coffee a few times. Plus I've only had to ask if they forgot my order once or twice. Really, it's nothing to complain about when 99% of the time, the service is great and everything is cooked exactly how it was ordered. Overall, it's much better than Dunkin Donuts breakfast sandwich-wise, and I'm hooked on the Jamaican Me Crazy iced coffee flavor. I think Starbucks coffee is gross, and Donut and Donuts is just slightly too far out of the way for it to be convenient on my way to work in the mornings (I do love their banana hazelnut iced coffee though!). The food is fresh, and tastes really good.

I've only come here for breakfast or for an evening bagel. I'm kinda addicted to bread and this is a great place to feed my obsession. The bagels are soft and the croissants are buttery and flaky. I love a coffee shop that makes a yummy breakfast sandwich. They do NOT microwave the egg like other coffee joints. That's a plus in my book! The coffee and frappes are great too. I haven't had their cakes and other pastries but they look good.

  • Elizabeth B.

If they were located in downtown Boston, I'd probably give them 2 stars, but since we're talking Quincy Center and there aren't a ton of other options, it warrants 3 stars solely for being one of the only contenders. The bagels themselves are delicious, but if, like me you prefer them loaded up with bacon, egg, and cheese you might be disappointed. I say might be because, depending on who makes your bagel sandwich, it may be awesome, or totally mediocre. The consistency I have found varies widely. I've had pumpkin, honey walnut (or is it pecan? I don't remember), and strawberry cream cheese on a variety of bagels, and they're all really good. Coffee is okay, but doesn't compare to Coffee Break, in my opinion. Their flavored coffees sometimes seem to be lacking in actual flavor. Biggest gripe is that the staff is wildly inconsistent. Sometimes I get great service, sometimes the process of ordering and actually receiving my order takes 20 minutes, which shouldn't happen. Also, I go in for a bacon, egg, and cheese on a plain bagel and iced coffee probably 3-4 times a month, yet it costs me something different every single time. Weird. $7.20 for a bagel sandwich and iced coffee is a little ridiculous considering the inconsistent quality. Bonus points for atmosphere, and for bringing an option other than Starbucks to Quincy Center. The restaurant itself is really well designed and customer friendly, and I appreciate that. I just wish they'd work on their consistency. Won't stop me from being back, pretty much every week.

Love this little place! The bagels were what we had, and they were very delicious, perfect ratio of chewy and crispy, and they had a decent selection of varieties available, even at 1pm on a weekend. My husband had a "breakfast sandwich" , and I had an everything bagel---both very yummy. The coffee was surprisingly good too, and they roast their own beans. I picked up a bag for sale, and am looking forward to it! They had a nice selection of sandwiches/paninis, salads, coffee drinks, and smoothies which looked promising too! The service was quick and employees very pleasant, even when we were standing there trying to decide our order! I hope they succeed at this location, which is very convenient for commuters as it is near the quincy center t station. Their main competition will be Starbucks down the block!

Super friendly staff and a really nice vibe in here; people behind the counter talking and laughing with one another and with customers. Had an egg and cheese sandwich on a bagel; it was good, not great, a little skimpy on the egg. Coffee was ok, but they need to offer glass mugs for people staying around to drink their coffee - not a fan of the paper to-go cups! Cream cheese is really good, but they shouldn't charge an extra thirty cents for flavored/lite. It's not really a warm cozy coffeeshop vibe, but the music that was playing was really great and set a good tone for the place. Glad to live right across the street!

I love that this place has really good quality sandwiches and bagels, especially considering there is not much else in this area. As someone who works nearby, I really appreciate that there's a place I can pop in over lunch. It absolutely kills me that I can't give this place a solid 4 stars, but I have to dock it down a point because of rather consistent service issues. Don't get me wrong, staff are quite friendly, and I'm sure that's all that matters. But as other reviewers have mentioned, service can be wildly inconsistent -- especially for those of us on a lunch break, this is a big no-no. A bagel with cream cheese, just a bagel with cream cheese!, taking well over 20 minutes...that's pretty crazy. I've been coming here pretty consistently for several weeks now and I can say about half the time I order, they forget part of my order or flat-out get it wrong. (That's not the sandwich I ordered, that's only half of my order, et cetera.) The quality of the food being as good as it is, I forgive this, but customer beware, you want to make sure you check what you've received, as it may not be what you ordered.

I go here for the cheddar bagels. It's the only such bagel I've found in the Boston area, and it's great. They tend to run out of them, so get them early. It's the only thing I have truly enjoyed from here. I get the impression that the frozen turtle latte has no set recipe because it's different every time I get it. If you are looking for a sugar coma, it will deliver regardless of the formulation of the day, however.

Gunther Tooties, you have a silly, silly name! HA! Tooties! But seriously, this is a great little coffee shop and also one of the only place in the area that makes a decent egg sandwich (read: that doesn't cook their eggs in the microwave). With a variety of bagels, muffins, pastries, coffees and drinks, I can see myself not only grabbing a quick Sunday breakfast here like I did last weekend, but also having a coffee and reading a book or a magazine in one of their comfy couches or chairs. I do believe that they also have sandwiches and possibly even a grill? I like that. I like that a lot. And yes, I'll be back for more breakfast sandwiches, bagels and pastry. You can count on it, Gunther Tooties. HA! Tooties!

SO nice to have a local coffee place around. The coffee is great. They have a lot of different flavors and special blends but their house blend is really stellar. The bagels are good, with multiple kinds to choose from. The cinnamon sugar, french toast, honey wheat, and everything are good. The cream cheese is homemade (which is refreshing). The sandwiches, soups, and salads are great for lunch. The bakery has a lemon blueberry cookie that's unbelievable. One of those foods (along with bagels) that I regularly get cravings for. I can't for the life of me figure out why there's anyone sitting in the Starbucks next door when this place exists.

This place is "ok" for breakfast. i like it without enthusiasm. Coffee is basic, neither strong nor weak. Bagels with eggs could be better: the eggs are overcooked. However, I enjoy sitting inside. It is cozy.

So, I really want to love this place, but I can't. They have good bagels, the food is fairly priced... but they also do some things I don't really like. On a couple occasions they seemed to forget they were making our orders, and only half of them were filled until we asked where our food was. Also, they charge 25 cents for a cup of tap water, which is kinda lame. That aside, yum. I'll probably keep going just for the tasty factor.

  • Katherine S.

This place is an all-time favorite. It's a hidden gem in Quincy, and not many people seem to know about it! They have DELICIOUS drinks, way better than Dunkin Donuts and fairly different from Starbucks. Most of their drinks are unique, and can be made without coffee in them (good for teens/kids) and also make some yummy smoothies, which you can't get at DD! The bagels are also fresh, and the strawberry cream cheese is my FAVORITE! They give you a ton of it also, very fresh, creamy, and scrumptious. The atmosphere is also very cozy and inviting. The only thing is that the preparation of drinks is sometimes crazy, they take your order and your money, but sometimes forget to make it! You have to remind them, especially when they're so busy because everything is usually communication.

  • pauline l.

UPDATE on 8/5/10 -- BLAHHH. I'm taking them down a star because they charge 25 cents for tap water. I know tap water and plastic cups cost money, duhhh -- but no one else charges for it! I might get it if you came in and asked for tap water without buying anything, but if their margins are so low they can't give away tap water to a paying customer, I fear for their future. ------------- Wow! The cream cheeses here were so flavorful, and the bagels tasted so fresh! I'm not a huge bagel person, but this place hits the spot for morning carbohydrates. The baked goods case with muffins and cookies looked really good, so I guess I'm coming back to try those, too. The shop is really really yellow -- the walls are unrelentlessly yellow -- but even so, the atmosphere is great for a morning bite or to hang out with your friends over a cup of coffee; it isn't too loud, and there is comfortable table, couch and counter seating. The weird, hokey name really put me off and kept me from coming before but I know better now!

Bacon, egg, and cheese on a french toast bagel grilled with butter. Frozen Vanilla Chai. HEAVEN. Also, fantastic atmosphere to sit around and chat with other patrons or read or work on a laptop.

I met up with a friend here to grab a coffee and chat. I ordered a medium sized SnickerDoodle coffee. I enjoyed the blend very much. However, it was a little on the weak side. I enjoyed the atmosphere of the place. The only down side is that you have to travel about a mile down the hallway to get to the bathroom. In my case I didn't realize it was so far away and locked. So I had to run back to the shop to grab the key which was obnoxiously attached to a serving basket. Ahh I had to go so bad!

So, with a Dunk-in Donmuts across the street and a Starbucks down the block why go to Gunther Tooties? I will tell you why: 1. Great selection of coffee and teas. I found their coffee to be quite good (iced and hot). I am most impressed by their tea selection. My personal favorites are: Alpine Berry Iced Tea Peach Iced Tea Blueberry Iced Tea 2. Great service. The employees are really social and know about what they are serving. Given that this is a new place, I think the staff are very well trained to handle questions and be able to answer them confidently. 3. They have a pretty extensive menu of salads, bagels, wraps and sandwiches. They have a long list of cream cheese options and bagel options. They make their own cream cheese and you can tell - it is wonderful. I also think they make the best corn muffin because it is moist and not dry and crumbly. 4. Prices are comparable to other coffee and tea places 5. The seating are is cozy and welcoming. They also offer free Wi-Fi.

  • Christina R.

Friendly staff, yummy food. I really enjoy everything they have here and the staff is always quick and will even have conversations with you if you come in enough. One star off because their coffee is just not good.

  • Isabella R.

This place is a great addition to the Quincy restaurant community. I'm such a fan of their bagels and sandwiches to the point where I recommend them to all of my friends. Not too crazy about the coffee, I find it a little to light for my taste but the comfortable, friendly atmosphere definitely makes up for that. Plus, they have free, fast, WiFi! Should have more parking, but life isn't perfect!

Went to Tooties today for lunch and created my own smoked turkey sandwich. The sandwich was pretty good and all the ingredients seem to be fresh. They also have a really good selection of coffee flavors and bagels. For all you cream cheese lovers, it's homemade. The place is clean but the bathrooms are about a mile away. They do have free WiFi, which is a plus. The service is spotty. The cashier/chef seemed really spacey. She rang up my order and then said, "Ohhh, I guess I'll make your sandwich now." She then made my sandwich wrong and had to remake it. All in all, I would recommend it for a leisurely lunch, but don't expect to be blown away.

Today was the first day that we decided to try Gunther Tootie's. I was really excited because I love a good panini or a good sandwhich. Maybe I set my sights to high maybe maybe not We tried: Turkey and Brie Panini - ok but not a run back and eat it again Caprese Panini - eh had better - kinda soggy BLT - its a BLT can't screw it up Make it yourself turkey - loaded with Chipotle mayo - can't tast anything seperately. Sprouts tasted dirty, didn't dry veggies before putting on sandwhich, made it a mess. Ceaser Salad - found a gnat in my salad, but other than that good dressing Chocolate Cake - pretty darn good Egg/Goat Cheese/Spinach sandwhich - yummy! The person who took our order was a wee bit dense and took him about 10 minutes just to write it all down. I wasn't told how long it would take so I had to call back and then gave them an extra 5 minutes just be sure, and still had to wait another 5. Pro - bagel and cream cheese = awesome (pretty much any bfast) Con - soggy, under seasoned, sandwhiches I might go there again but they need to revamp or something

    (3)
  • Jared W.

While I generally have a very good experience and the employees are always awesome... I had a BLT Salad for lunch today. What it lacked in tomatoes, it more than compensated with bacon and blue cheese. A healthy lunch was anticipated but left me kind of lethargic. Some tomatoes would've made the salad so much better and truly a "BLT". For my fellow bacon lovers out there, have at it - just ask for Tomatoes. :)

I'm kind of a bagel addict, and grew up in NJ where really amazing local bagel shops abound, so the fourth star is given my lower expectations in general of bagels available outside of really authentic bagel places. I think that locally, brueggers still has the better bagel, but I can walk to this place so I'll continue to frequent it on weekends. The first time I went here the service was pretty bad and slow, but they have improved a lot since they first opened. There is a wide selection of bagel and cream cheese flavors, including jalepeno cream cheese, which I really like on the cheddar bagels. Coffee is good - not starbucks rocket fuel but more body than dunkin donuts, and the bagel sandwiches are good and made freshly to order. I'll update the review if we go for lunch - sounds like maybe they don't do sandwiches quite as well. The desserts and such look great but haven't tried those either.

So now that this place is gaining popularity, it's starting to get busy :) That's awesome! They do have some new staff training but go easy on them - it's a new place and baristas have a lot to learn if they've never worked in a coffee shop before. Staff is still nice and food is great - had the tuna melt which was the best - it was the first one I have ever had and actually wanted to eat. The grab & go yogurt was frozen when i got it but it thawed soon after. Coffee and biscotti still the best - even though my sister make pretty good biscotti that is a close rival of Gunther Tooties :) Give them a try!!

I arrived at work this morning to learn that we had a dozen visitors from our Denver office. They'd never been to our offices before. Without any prior notice, I was faced with providing lunch for a total of 17. I couldn't do pizza...they came all this way! So with little time to spare, I called Gunther Tooties in Quincy. Christine said, "no problem!" They prepared an amazing assortment (2 trays) of their sandwiches, both hot and cold, vegetarian and not. I ordered a large salad. Christine said, how about a strawberry & avacado salad? It was beautiful! I ordered a cookie tray (they make huge, amazing cookies), and they baked them fresh. The tray was warm when I set it out. Ridiculously good. The thing that really amazes me, Christine thanked me for our business.. I could have upended their day, their supply for the regular customers without giving them notice. I am continually impressed by Gunther Tooties. Great food, but great customer service. Gunther Tooties is top shelf!

Oh delicious bagels, how I love thee! After nearly five years of a sort-of self-imposed bagel exile (seriously, why would one choose to live in South Carolina... with that nasty stuff called grits?), I'm pleased to find a decent bagel place nearby. I like the "works" bagels, because I can't always decide between which "topping" I want. And I like to slather a whole glob of the homemade jalapeno cream cheese on it, because I like clogging my arteries up real good. The only reason they don't get five stars? The girl at the register tried to charge me for a dozen bagels, when I only got half a dozen. Listen, I know it was early in the morning, but come on now! I was awake enough to notice the mistake, so YOU should have been awake enough not to make it in the first place. I don't like having to proofread my real life.

Great bagels and great service. My wife and I took the kids here based on the recommendations on Yelp and we weren't disappointed. The place was clean, well run, and the food was fantastic. I had the egg white, goat cheese and sauteed spinach combo and it was really fresh. Definitely worth skipping any of the major chains for.

oh hai new favorite bagel place. skip dunkin donuts and starbucks and go here - it's worth it. so many breakfast/bagel selections/concoctions, it's amazing. everything is freshly made, and delicious. very good prices (similar to dd's/starbucks), but infinitely better quality. it's really, really hard not to go everyday.

I've been stopping by and getting my coffee there each morning. Love the bagel assortment (french toast bagel is addicting!) The staff is friendly. I've also had sandwiches from there and think that they are very tasty and unique. Overall, they are a nice addition to Quincy Center.

Same good bagels as their Pembroke and Hanover locations. Finding a parking spot here is very hard and not going to get easier once renovations to Quincy Center are done. I hope it is enjoyed by locals within walking distance.

In the magical world of Gunther Tooties, Egg & Cheese sandwiches take 20 minutes to make, taste awful, and are served to you by snotty 16 year old girls who will forget your order 5 times before giving it to you. Epic Fail. The extra star is for the coffee, which is pretty good, but is still served to you by the same snotty girls. I'll stick with my Starbucks rocket fuel, thank you very much.

This is a Class A place; the staff, service, and preparation of foods rule! I was referred by a friend of mine; I will never forget what class A service I receive. The coffee is awesome, the breakfast sandwiches are "freshly made" and you have a "frequency program", where when you buy 12 cups you get the next free. I cannot find a single negative, and will not find any. Lastly, while not necessary, my breakfast sandwich was brought to me. Awesome place, with awesome people who care! Thought I would share two more points; the WiFi is free and will save you money on the purchase of a router, an iPad or Netbook, or Laptop; savings is at least $100(price of a portable router) second they have an extremely easy "reloadable card" where you have funds on the card, and when funds are low, bring the card in and reload it at the time of purchase. Awesome staff, and for those who "complain" about "wait" the food is prepared on the spot, not taken from a frozen section and heated in a microwave or heating element

This place is amazing! Super friendly staff! You have to try the snickerdoodle coffee. I love it iced! The muffins are out of this world! I think this place will give Starbucks and Coffee Break Coffee some MAJOR competition! Their paninis are to die for! Stop by!!!!!

  • J. Ted S.

Lousy, doughy bagel with cream cheese that had no flavor. Messed up a basic order (cream cheese on the side) and they weren't friendly about it. Smoothies don't have anything healthy in them but they don't communicate that to you.

Very cute little coffee shop ... I have not tried anything from their extensive bagel selection, but the salad with grilled chicken, Craisins, and goat cheese is so good that I have to force myself not to eat it with my hands. :) Yum!

I just discovered this little neighborhood cafe - great bagels and a nice place to stop for tea and relax. It's comfy with couches that don't gross you out... It's a quiet place after the rush in the morning if you want to bring a book or get work done on your computer with their wifi.

ive been here twice now. once was only to get some of their home-made cream cheese - which was good. 2nd trip i got a bacon, egg and cheese croissant. it was reeeeally good (especially compared to Dunkin). the croissant wasnt flaking all over my shirt, and it wasnt greasy at all. i'd go back for breakfast.

I live nearby, and was so happy they decided to put this place in! I never understood why they keep trying to fill this block with banks... I like this place because it's simple. I finally went there today and got a bagel (cinnamon sugar) and a house blend coffee. They must have worked out their problems from the person below's last visit because both were fine. Neither was burnt. The bagel was toasted just the right amount, and I was able to get both for about the price I would have paid for just coffee at Starbucks. I also went to get a little studying done, and the noise level was just right. They had some music playing overhead, but it was on pretty low. And there was pretty consistently a handful of people there the whole time i was there. They advertised free wi-fi, and while I didn't try to connect, the connection was secure, so you would need to find out the encryption key from someone before you connect. For seating, they had a couple of normal tables, a couple of sofas, and a couple of taller tables with stools (including a window counter). I definitely plan on going back, and would recommend this place as a quiet place to sit and study, people-watch, or grab a coffee and catch up with a friend. I'm so glad this place has come to Quincy Center, and I hope it lasts!

  • Kerry H.

Good breakfast place, they have a good bagel/cream cheese selection and their breakfast sandwiches are also really good. There is usually a line on a weekend morning unless you go super early but it moves fast and the food doesn't take too long to come out. Their coffee is pretty unimpressive, I usually just get a bagel and go somewhere else for my coffee. It's not terrible and if I'm feeling lazy I will get coffee there but I always end up wishing I had made the drive to Coffee Break...

    (4)
  • Jillian W.

I've either walked by or drove by here numerous times and I finally decided to try it. The time that I went, it was after 5PM and they had 1/2 off smoothies, which I thought was cool. However, the guy behind the counter was rude and didn't seem to not want to be there. Additionally, when I ordered the avocado smoothie, he gave me that "why am I not surprised" look. Yeah...you have the 1/2 off sign outside so of course you should expect people to be getting it. When I gave him my credit card to pay for it, after he printed the slip and when I was able to say thank you, he just slammed the slip on the table and threw the pen down at me and walked off. Once he finished making my drink, I just grabbed it and walked out of the restaurant. I have to say that the drink was not impressive. It was completely watered down and way to sweet. It was almost like he just dumped a spoon full of sugar in it. As long as this particular guy is working there, I would not come back here. I have never been treated this badly before at a restaurant. But I'm not surprised about it either because I know a few people who had been here and said the same thing. I should've believed them in the beginning.. If they feel like THEY'RE getting ripped off because people rather buy their smoothies at 1/2 price, then they should just take down their sign and don't bother offering people the deal.

I love the coffee from here! And I love when there is foam. The bagels are fresh and the cream cheese is so filling! The breakfast sandwiches on bagels are massive! I'm able to eat have for breakfast then half later on! The wifi is great. The place itself is cute. It's a little small and gets packed easily!! I also enjoy that they have a little counter with extra things you can add to your coffee (cinnamon, chocolate, creamers, and different types of sweeteners) Only thing o can't comment on is their lunch menu. I've never had it!

  • Olivia D.

I LOVE this place!!! The bagels are always so fresh and yummy and the pastries/brownies/cakes are so decadent and delish!! I come here most Sunday's for a sandwich and a coffee and the experience is always consistent. I highly suggest this place to anyone who gets off at the Quincy Center T station! :)

I have been here twice. Once the drink I got was so disgusting I threw it away and walked to the Starbucks down the street. The second time the woman who helped me was so rude and made me feel so uncomfortable I vowed never to go back. We had a friend in town who wandered in here one morning. He was so horrified that people got away treating customers like that. I wish I could give 0 stars

Excellent bagel shop. I've been here a couple of times, and I have yet to be disappointed. The last time I came here, I wanted to order two breakfast sandwiches because they're just that good, but I refrained and went with a regular portion size of one sandwich instead. It was so satisfying! I got a bacon egg and cheese on a pumpkin bagel, and my boyfriend always gets a bagel with smoked salmon and lox. Both delicious. Conveniently located in Quincy Center with lots of street parking available.

I go here pretty much every day. I have never experienced any rudeness, but I have experienced their delicious bagels, coffee, pastries and sandwiches. The banana bread is incredible. I usually get an egg and cheese on a croissant. The croissant can be a little dry sometimes, but I just wash it down with a toasted coconut iced coffee, which is excellent. The honey walnut cream cheese tastes more like a dessert spread, but trust me I'm not complaining about that. Also, they play the BEST music here. Just today they had a live version of Somebody to Love playing, and Stairway to Heaven. Classic.

I have worked near Gunther Tooties for 4 years eating lunch there very frequently. Yesterday getting one of my usuals chicken salad on a cafe salad made me violently ill. Within minutes of eating about half of this I became sweaty and vomited. The rest of my work afternoon consisted of vomiting and diarrhea! I had stomach pains all night long. I called and spoke with the manager this morning and all she could say was no one else had reported this after eating their chicken salad. Some of their food is good but be prepared for a shit show going in there. Very disorganized, most every time your order is incorrect so don't even bother calling it in. I have never been so sick from eating anything especially a $10 salad that now cost me a co pay for a doctors visit, money for a prescription and a day's pay being home sick from work confined to my bathroom. Never again!!!!!!!

I really do enjoy this location. First of all, I love Gunther tooties. They have the best bagels I've ever experienced in MA. Also their cream cheese is homemade. Try a spinoccoli bagel with veggie cream cheese, you won't regret it! Tastes like a pizza. Free wifi, quiet, relaxing, and plenty of outlets and tables. I've never had any problems here!

Very very good! Strong menu and delicious cappuccino. Girlfriend only drinks chai lattes and is extremely picky. Aside from her neighborhood shop in Ohio this is 'the best hot chai she has ever had" which is saying a lot. Ultra family friendly with good service and comfortable dine in section. Going there this morning for my fav: bacon egg cheese with lettuce tomato on the works bagel. Yes!!

I stopped by again for breakfast a few weeks ago. The food was excellent as it was the time before, however it seemed like they were having an off day service-wise. We were waiting for our orders near the pick-up counter and they were yelling out orders very quickly. There was one bag that came out and nobody heard what was in it and there was no receipt on the side indicating what the order was. We asked the person placing the bags what was in it and he rudely told us he didn't know and kept doing what he was doing. This resulted in three different customers sifting through the bag to figure out if it was theirs or not. It turned out to be my friend's, but it took a long time to figure it out and no help from the staff. I'm going to chalk it up to an off day since it was a very busy weekend. The food was still excellent so I will likely be returning the next time I'm in the area.

This place is ok. The food is decent but way overpriced IMO. The coffee is sub-par. I always make the mistake of ordering the coffee and not liking it that much. The menu is pretty extensive for a cafe with kind of a fusion style which is nice. Place does get crowded and the crowd it attracts can be rowdy.

4 stars because this place is usually great. Usually It's great friendly, fast and delicious. Live their cream cheese and freshly baked bagels which is hard to find in general in boston. Today was not so. 1. I ordered a sausage egg and cheese on a tomato/basil. I got it on a cinnamon bagel. 2.I ordered a spinoccolli bagel grilled with butter. Not grilled, but rather pressed in the panning, thus not getting the crispy interior that I usually get when ordering the same exact way and get it grilled on the flat top. 3. I Ordered a red eye. Got my food before my drink so you can imagine how long I was just standing there waiting expecting it to come up first. The place was practically empty so there wasn't a line of people waiting for drinks. 4. Woman working the register wasn't friendly at all. 5. Of course I got my food to go so by the time my boyfriend and I got to eat our food. We couldn't get our order fixed. Usually a good place but today for the $10 I spent and everything was wrong except for the drink I ordered. Not happy.

Came in enticed by the photo of thick and perfectly grilled salmon on a bed of greens posted on the front windows. When it came out I was impressed by the portion. But upon poking around, it was not only thin as a crepe, but it was dry as jerky. Gunther's been around a while and had decent ratings so it's possible I got the one terrible thing on the menu. But omg I couldn't even finish it with out my jaws aching from trying to chew enough moisture to make it palatable.

Stopped here for coffee and a bagel as the reviews rave about their cream cheese. Got a large toasted coconut coffee, an everything bagel and lite chive cc. It was under $5 bucks. My coffee was good, didn't taste burnt at all. There was no line, walked right up to the counter. They have breakfast sandwiches too but since I wanted to try the cc I didn't get one. Pretty ample seating for how small it is. Free refills on the coffee. They have about 8 different brews of coffee! I will come back here :)

Awesome little bakery cafe. Great for lunch or snacktime.

I'd give this 0 stars if I could. I popped in with a friend for some coffee and cake. First off, the guy behind the counter doesn't know what kinds of cake they have. We had to match up the cakes behind the counter to pictures on the wall, which was a pain. We ultimately ordered tiramisu, an iced caramel latte, and a red eye. The tiramisu tasted like it's been in the refrigerator for awhile. And my goodness, my caramel latte was SOUR. Yes, I said sour. I took one tiny sip and knew the rest was going in the trash. There were solids at the bottom, which looked like hardened cream or milk. The color of the coffee was a weird yellow, more like a cider than coffee. My friend said his red eye had syrup (which is untraditional), so it was a sugary mess. He took a sip and threw out his as well. We walked right over to Starbucks. Not coming back, for sure.

I don't mind this place. I also don't drink coffee much, so I'm the annoying tea drinker. The coffee is good, and so is their tea selection. The food...I prefer the sandwiches and pastries as opposed to their muffins and bagels. Bagels burn quickly as the dough isn't thick enough, and the muffins are rock hard sometimes. Service is all right...sometimes in the morning, I feel rushed and there are times when it's pleasant.

Fair price for fair food. Wasn't impressed. Wasn't disappointed. When I first walked in, I thought I was in Starbucks. Couches, books, nerds and I'm guessing wifi. I only had a tuna sandwich. However I will return and eat more before I judge.

Such a cute spot so close to Quincy station! I used to frequent the train weekly and when i got there early enough id sneak over to tooties! A very classic coffee shop environment. Friendly staff, friendly customers, good bagels, delicious drinks! I always get a frozen turtle latte (chocolate+caramel, heaven!) and even though it is no longer on the menu they will still make it. Not getting to frequent Tooties anymore alllllmost makes me miss taking the train every week.

Best breakfast sandwich in The Q. Most places pile on the egg and skimp on the meat, this place does exactly the opposite. Everything is fresh. Coffee and iced tea are great.

We used to stop in here occasionally, but I hadn't been by in a few months. I stopped a few days ago to get a bagel with cream cheese. $3.56 Nope!

Um yes. Get the frozen chai latte- it is divine! I got the vanilla spice option. So amazing. Also love the bread they put with their salads. They are so great about letting bring my therapy dog, too. Also love the California club.

Ugh, despite my better judgement, I have returned. Staff still seem very rude, so clearly it was not related to the power loss. Such a pity since it tarnishes what is pretty good food.

Anything that sells french toast bagels gets a 5 star. And I can't believe some of the reviews, you go there all the time and one time they gave you the wrong thing and you deleted a star? Give me a break, they are a food service industry, not an airline ticket agency. What happened, you got a delicious breakfast in the wrong flavor? I'm donating each of my 5 stars to people who took off one star for stupid things. Great place, eating there every time I drive by. Also, what's with that huge giant secret dining room out back? Was too scared to go in.

I went in to grab a quick bite before my tour of Adams National Park. There is no eating or drinking on the tour, and it's two hours long, so it's best to get lunch first. I just wanted a turkey sandwich on a bagel. It seemed to be taking a pretty long time. It wasn't exceptionally busy that day, but it was steady. Finally, after people after me were getting their food, I went up to the counter. The kid working asked if I was being helped and I said, "I'm just waiting for my sandwich." He looked around and saw that my whole-wheat bagel had been cut and was just sitting there; I guess whoever started making it just abandoned the project? So he said, "Did you have a turkey sandwich?" I said I did. He made it for me, but holy lots of mayo... Had to eat it pretty fast in order to make the trolley... the intention had been to get something that wouldn't take long to make so I wouldn't have to wolf it down. I guess you can't count on that with this place.

Ok, I typed out a review for the turkey and vegetable soup, and then erased it because I thought it was way too mean. I usually really like this place for the sandwiches and salads - and I would normally give a very easy 3-4 stars for everything. But, today, I tried to venture out and try the turkey and vegetable soup; what a mistake! I would not eat this soup again. The meager broth was meh. The vegetables consisted of carrots, potatoes (mountains of them), and cabbage (?). The thing that did it for me was the turkey, which was cubed and taken from the skin and just below. Meaning, the turkey cubes were gelatinous and tasteless. Bottom line: Don't do it to yourself. Get a salad!

Sometimes I stop in here for lunch in between or after classes. This place is right across from the college so it's very convenient. For the most part, their sandwiches and bagels are tasty and fresh, the coffee is decent, and the atmosphere is very comfortable. However, the customer service can be a hit or miss. Sometimes they are fast and efficient, but there are times when they just don't seem to care. The staff is aloof and act very disinterested. If it was once, then it's forgivable, but I noticed it's a recurring thing where I feel like they don't pay enough attention to what they are doing. I can think of a bunch of times where they messed up my order, gave me the wrong thing, or just flat out forgot to make my food, and I have to remind them I'm still waiting there after ten to fifteen minutes. I want to give this place more stars but I can't. While the food and concept is great, a lack of passion from their employees totally kills it. There are maybe a couple people here who do pay attention, but the rest of them just suck at what they do. They really need to just hire better people. This is a nice local coffee house/ cafe place that serves good quality food. This isn't Dunkin Donuts or some fast food joint, so it wouldn't hurt to show a little more enthusiasm. It's just a shame.

The only reason this review isn't 1 star is because the food is outrageously good. Unfortunately, this location is PLAGUED with rude, ignorant, and flat out mean workers. Particularly this one blonde girl who seems to have been there forever. Get over yourself honey and grin and bear it like we all do working in the service industry. If I were the owner, I would so some SERIOUS rehiring ASAP! Great food! Horrible staff.

Carbs and dairy are probably my two favorite food groups, so bagels with cream cheese are right up there on my favorite food list. This place does it right! The bagels are fresh, the cream cheese is nice and thick and the flavors are great! They really pile on the cream cheese, too so if you are watching your girlish figure, I would ask for "just a little please!" Why aren't they 5 stars? Well...they seem to have a very hard time with the "create your own sandwich" section of their menu. It's not the staff...it's happened time and time again with many of the people that work there. I really believe it's the computer system needing you to order in a certain order for them to put it in right. Sesame bagel, cream cheese, bacon, and tomato (yea, it's a little weird..but try it. it's SO good). I have to repeat the fillings probably 3 to 4 times before they're done with the order. They always do it with a smile, and never give me a hard time. It's just a bit frustrating. Oh! Their coffee is also fantastic. They have many flavors that are iced or hot. I'd go here rather than walking down the street to Starbucks any day!

Staying with a friend in Quincy for a week and neither of us ever felt like making breakfast at home. Having this close to the subway station was perfect. I can't speak for the coffee or tea as I don't drink either, but the bagels are awesome. I quickly found my favourite: sourdough with bacon&scallion cream cheese. Bt the french toast bagel with Nutella is amazing too as a more desserty option. The smoothies leave a lot to wish for though. Very icy, more like a slushie. The atmosphere isn't very cozy and when it gets busy (morning or lunch) it just feels like a very stressful environment. Service is alright, nothing bad really but not amazing. So I suggest to come for the bagels and bring it with you!

A good spot in a ideal location at Quincy Center. Service can get busy at times during weekends but the kids behind the counter work diligently to keep the line moving.

Average. Nothing outstanding. Roast beef sandwich was ok. Ciabatta bread was pretty good. Iced coffee was just ok. Arnold Palmer was kind of watery.

My brunch party came here against my wishes. We ordered a set of fried eggs (for the gluten intolerant one), a sesame seed egg and cheese bagel, a bagel bacon-egg-cheese-sandwich, and a bagel with scallion cream cheese. What do we get? Fried eggs, a sesame seed egg and cheese bagel, a bacon-egg-cheese- with scallion cream cheese bagel. Let's review that again, in case you're as special as the employees at Gunther. Egg, cheese, and bacon, with a hearty serving of cream cheese between the bacon and the bread. With brilliance like that, the next cronut is sure to originate in this place. Added a star because they made the eggs for my Celiac-disease friend.
