Love this hidden gem in Plymouth. Coffee is good and the baked goods are amazing. They do all organic food here. We got an almond cranberry Biscotti, a bar, and a chewy ginger cookies. Everyone should stop here when they are in town visiting. This cute little cafe is charming, service is nice and warm. I can spend all day sitting here. What a great cafe.

I'm usually too lazy to write Yelp reviews, but...Blue Blinds Bakery really is a gem as other reviewers have commented. I had their soup of the day (a haddock chowder) and a Spinwich (spinach, egg, tomato, sandwich). Both were great. The people who took my order and brought the food to the table were gracious and friendly. The cafe itself is spacious, elegantly decorated--but not in a fussy way--and filled with light. I love the wall murals depicting the journey of the Mayflower and the settlers' first Thanksgiving.

Every time I've been to this quirky place I'm met by those inept in social interactions. In one instance I asked one employee whether they'd recommend the french toast and total deer in headlights moment. Asking for recommendations is a standard practice of mine, one some disagree with, but, in my opinion, the way to get the best item on the menu you never thought of. When my query fell to blank stares (on more than one occasion) it made me question whether the food is all that great. If you don't believe in it, why should I? I've been here at least ten times over the last five years and had similar awkward experiences in every instance. The business is owned by a tax-exempt group known as the Twelve Tribes who utilize members, adults and children, as their workforce. I encourage you to do your research in the news on this group and the other businesses they own around the globe. Maybe that has something to do with the lack of warm and fuzzy's? Who knows.

Blue Blinds Bakery resides in a house, with a porch, and you can seat yourself either at the porch or at one of the tables in their dining room to the right once you enter. Order and pay at the counter and they'll bring your food to you. You can bust your own table, or if you leave your mess behind, you might want to drop a tip there too. The ladies ahead of us in line recommended the cinnamon roll. Sadly, they also ended up ordering the last two rolls. A regular highly recommended the fish chowder, and for sweets, the same cinnamon roll and the blueberry blinds, a pastry with a blueberry and cream cheese filling. For lunch, the two of us shared a blueberry blind (I liked the cream cheese filling, I wonder if they would have heated it if we had asked as that would have surely improved it), a bowl of the fish chowder $4.75 (tasty, but the brothy sort, while this girl leans toward the creaminess of the New England style chowders, so it wasn't as satisfying as it could have been), and one of their Spinwich sandwiches ~ Eggs, Onions, Spinach, Parmesan, Pepper Jack & Cheddar Cheese on a buttered Roll with our own special sauce $6.50 (it was tasty, with a touch of heat from the sauce, but it turned out to be basically an omelette tucked in a soft roll). Blue Blinds Bakery is closed on Saturdays. If you know you want a cinnamon roll, the fellow at the counter mentioned that they would have saved me one if I had called ahead.

Cute pilgrim atmosphere and music. Must try the hisbiscus fruit drink!!! I think the secret ingredient is ginger, my fave. The iced mango mate tea and carrot cake is great also. Everything is not too sweet which is exactly the way I like it.

Wonderful place! Classic, country, and homey decor houses a great little shop. Ordered the coconut raspberry muffin, which was amazing and tastes homemade. Staff is very friendly, warm and genuine. A heads up that the line can move a bit slowly because staff is so friendly :)

Tucked away on quaint North St. in historic downtown Plymouth is one of the areas best hidden gems. Run by a global religious community called "The Twelve Tribes", the local Plymouth chapter owns and operates both the Blue Blinds Bakery and the Common Sense store. The rustic charm and ambiance of the bakery reflects the tribes ideological embrace of a simpler time when the world lived and breathed at a quieter, slower pace. The establishment is clean and well maintained, and the staff friendly and courteous. The food itself is always well prepared and there is a variety of freshly baked breads to choose from daily. Regardless of the time of day, I often stop in to get my fix of egg and cheddar on rustic garlic spinach bread. The chili is excellent, the spanakopita flaky and delicious, and the grilled cheese the best I've had since I was a young lad. I also recommend the vanilla chai latte and lemon matte. If you find yourself downtown Plymouth, be sure and visit this unique and delicious destination. Your taste buds will thank you!

Oh what a sweet find, the Blue Blinds. We were just walking down the street in Plymouth and the place looked cute and coffee seemed like a good idea. Saw an avuncular looking guy sitting out on the porch (whom we talked to later which was hilariously funny). The coffee was top notch as well as the snacks we tried such as chocolate covered coconut balls. But what really blew me away was this odd thing I picked up on a whim from a basket on the counter. It was called a Peanut Butter Mate Bar. While I don't normally try something I know little about, this was one of the most ridiculously over the top tasty things I have ever eaten. I will remember it the rest of my life, in fact I am going to contact them to see if they can ship me some. It was an energy bar with organic oats, honey etc. and to me it tasted like hops. Yeah I am a hop head and brew beer and it's the closest food I have ever tasted to hops. Since I drove to Maine shortly after leaving Plymouth it provided a filling meal on it's own so I didn't get hungry while traveling. My wife informed me that they sell these in Japan. I had never heard of nor seen them. GET THAT because if you can you are lucky! If I were standing at the old brass register again right now, I would but ALL of them! The locals here seemed particularly friendly and were fun to talk to. One of the guys that served us actually gave me nutritional information on what I bought which surprised me. I'd call this a "Hidden Gem" but due to the massive smack talk in all the other high rated reviews for this place it's popular and easy to find. Loved everything about Blue Blinds. A Plymouth treasure no doubt.

Awesome little place. The "Hot Not Chocolate" (made from Carob) was amazing! Staff is nice and they all have really cool hair. Be sure to stop in here after or before you see Plymouth Rock.

They get 5 stars from me. Inside the atmosphere is cozy and refreshing. I could see the people who operate this fantastic place are excited about what they do, and really enjoy sharing it with people who appreciate it. The food they offer is incredible. They bake their own everything. Super fresh and homy. The beverages they have look amazing, and they have an excellent tea and coffee selection. Hands down the best customer service I've seen. Our table wasn't level, we didn't mind but the gentleman that brought us our breakfast notice and hurried out back to get something to wedge under the leg. In another situation, a man who seemed like a regular was talking about going to look for a certain product at a local farmers market, so the man working called ahead to see if they had that item available. They just go above and beyond for everyone and anyone. I feel much better supporting fresh & local businesses, especially these guys. I will be going there often I'm sure.

Spinwich sandwich was awesome and fresh. Also had the garden lentil soup which was a great accent on a cold day. Service was friendly and excellent inside a historical building. They make their own bread. Fantastic and would come back.

Great atmosphere, great food! Everything is homemade. --Highly recommend. My only complaint is that it is small so there is not much seating.

Very interesting establishment. The setting is tourist centric, highly commercial downtown Plymouth, but restaurant is run by a quasi-Christian communal group. The restaurant is located in a beautiful, colonial style tavern with a small indoor seating area and an even smaller (3 tables) porch. The Good - Absolutely delicious fare. I had the Deli Rose, toasted roast beef and pastrami sandwich. My GF had the Spinwich, spinach, egg, and cheese sandwich. Both were unbelievably flavorful and fresh. The Bad - the service was very slow. Our sandwiches took 20 minutes. The Incredibly Awkward - the copious amounts of communal literature and tracts throughout the place, particularly the bathroom, which was literally wallpapered with propaganda. Very off putting.

  • Jay W.

Friend and I went there for lunch, both of us had a Reuben. I was blown away, was the best sandwich I had in a long time. It's a well hidden secret right in Plymouth! Staff are friendly, food comes out quickly and baked goods are great too. This place is unique, delicious and I highly recommend you go there if you want the best.

5 star for sure based on other similar counter service type places. Service was excellent, staff very friendly. Sticky bun was to die for!!!! Breads are amazing and serving portions are perfect - very filling. Coffee hit the spot and walkable to all tourist attractions. Would definitely go back!

Adorable coffee house/bakery. Had the most amazing latte I've ever experienced and an equally amazing waffle. I just wish they would serve some sort of bacon or other side with the waffles or pancakes. Other than that I highly recommend this place!

Usually places don't live up to the hype, but Blue Blinds is an exception. I'd been hearing about this place for a full year before I actually got to go, since I kept ending up in Plymouth on Saturdays, when they're closed. The coffee and baked goods are delicious. The staff patiently walks people through decisions and nutritional information, which means the line was pretty slow, but it was still worth it. They've got seating inside and out on the front porch, so it's a good spot to get out of the rain or cool off in the summer.

I think that the other reviews pretty much says it all, but I need to add that those large biscotti things are unbelievable! If you have a chance order a couple (they're pretty large) and see for yourself. Good coffee, nice people, and delicious baked items. What a nice little addition to such a cute town.

Wow all these stellar reviews. I think I'll go try something new and go to Blue Blinds Bakery. This was my thought process when deciding where to spend my hard earned money today for breakfast. I am sure I will catch flack for this, but I should have gone to Dunkin' Donuts. I had a wildly different experience than all these other reviews and I will not be a repeat customer. I spent $9.00 on a breakfast sandwich and a 10oz orange juice. That seems steep to me. Add in the fact that it took more than 30 minutes for the sandwich to come out. I can do the same thing at home in less than 5 minutes. Understandably it was tail end of the breakfast rush, but aren't restaurants supposed to thrive during the rush. I also asked for a sandwich so I could take it on the road to eat. It was open faced and the eggs were cooked over easy. Not the utensil free meal I was expecting. Now I was told they normally do open faced sandwiches, but that they would make a regular sandwich for me. Hmm... did someone not get the message? I hope Blue Blinds gets this message.

Great place, especially in the summer. They are run by a religious commune (The 12 Tribes) and they take their food and treating customers kindly VERY SERIOUS! They serve local coffee (the same as Kiskadee). The reason summer is the best time to go is because they are small, but they have a porch. When there, check out the mural they painted. It covers three walls. It depicts the voyage of the Pilgrims (from Leyden to Plymouth). I also believe the huge tree right beside them is the oldest tree in Plymouth (as you face the building it is immediately to the left and tucked back almost behind the building). They make their own breads and pastries. Ask about ingredients since they don't use shell fish and some other things (for religious reasons). Locals love the place, so most of all ENJOY!!!

  • Emily L.

If I lived in Plymouth, I would probably come here twice a week. When you walk into the bakery, you feel as if you're walking into your old friend's house. Everything is made to order so you do have to wait about five to ten minutes for your order. The pumpkin pie was super light and fluffy. The coffee was fresh and not burnt. This place reminds of the KISS acronym - sometimes the best thing in life is to keep it simple and to the point!

The food here is great and the setting is lovely. You order at the counter and then sit in a very comfortable inside dining room or outside on a wide covered porch. I have only eaten here for breakfast. They have an amazing green juice with yerba matte, great baked goods, great waffles, and very good coffee. They have soy milk. The breakfasts are much more delicious than any other place in town. Drawbacks: When you order food they have to cook, they bring it out to you and the service is a bit slow. The other drawback doesn't have anything to do with food, ambience or service. The place is run by ---depending on which Web sites you look at --- a well intentioned religious communal group or a deeply creepy cult. There is some of the group's literature around. The men all have their hair in pony tails and the women --- who don't work at the counter but rather in the kitchen and will sometimes bring your food out --- wear what look like harem pants. Aside from the brochures, however, they don't seem to recruit, so I've decided I am ok with patronizing them.

For breakfast, this place is truly as good as it gets. So hearty and yummy! I recommend to anyone, the reviews are great for a reason! They really put work into their coffee drinks =).

I got yogurt, granola and fruit. Their homemade granola is the best I have had ever...just the perfect amount of sweetness. The portion was huge so I had to take the rest to go. Great iced coffee. Service was really kind.Very relaxing atmosphere. I sat around on one of the comfy couches for a long time before leaving. Their baked goods and bread are delicious. I have had them several times in the past.

Bought sandwiches and spinach/cheese pastry to go for a waterfront picnic. Staff super friendly. Food was delicious, more than enough for both of us. Local ingredients in the sandwiches.

Just moved to the South Shore from the north. This place had awesome food, the bread was wonderful the pastries were also to die for. Not to keen on the cult thing but hey...with bread and food like that it could be leather face serving me and I would shake his had. Definitely try the home made bread at $5.50 a loaf its a good deal and unlike any bread I have ever had. I recommend the red pepper(not spicy) and asiago cheese bread. Everything here is good!!!

The atmosphere is A++, super cozy. Food is awesome and made to order, their blueberry blind danishes are the fucking best.

Loving the organic breads, fair trade coffees, great breakfast (had the French toast, very good, real maple syrup-no extra charge, fresh fruit) about $8.00 plus tip,,,well worth it knowing how fresh it all was. Went back another time and bought 3 different desserts,,,all very good, ESP key lime pie,,the place itself is rustic, cozy and inviting. Fireplaces in the cold months, large front porch during warmer weather. The staff are friendly and I respect and admire their "fruit of the spirit". Favorite place to go when in Plymouth.

After a morning of walking around Plymouth with the family, we tried Blue Blinds Bakery for lunch. The small cafe is located inside an old house and is filled with quaint colonial furniture. We weren't starving, so we ordered 2 turkey sandwiches between the four of us (my mom, dad, sister, and myself). And that was actually just enough! Each half sandwich was about 5 inches long and packed with fresh turkey, greens, a wonderfully creamy cheese, tomatoes, and my favorite--roasted red peppers! The bread was crusty and hearty but didn't take away from the flavors of the rest of the sandwich. I also got an iced tea which was good, but it wasn't the best iced tea I've had. It tasted too much like Lipton. However, I love tea and will admit I am very biased toward excellent tea. But it was still refreshing all the same. The pastries looked amazing, but I did not have the pleasure of trying one today. My family and I are visiting from southern California, so if I ever find myself in these parts again, I will definitely return for some sweets!

Cute little bakery with awesome sandwiches and soups! You can sit outside on the porch which is perfect when it's nice out. I would definitely recommend the grilled cheese, caprese sandwich, and macaroons for dessert! Overall a cozy place and everything's pretty cheap!

My husband and I have been going to Blue Blinds for years we love the bread and this has always been our go to spot for take out sandwiches to eat n the waterfront. Today however we were sadly let down as the quality of the food has taken a turn for the worse due to an all new menu. Our usual pick the roast beef sandwich with horseradish aoli and the fresh mozzarella basil sandwich were no longer available. The gentleman at the counter assured my husband that the sandwiches were better now and all were served hot. We ordered a deli rose sandwich and a grilled cheese. Our order of 2 sandwiches took twice the time that it normally does and it did not seem to be because they were exceptionally busy. When we opened the containers we found the sandwiches were considerably smaller. The bread was not the usual bread and the sandwich was soggy and overwhelmed by the taste of ketchup. Basically we went under the assumption that the previous quality would represented on the new menu, but are saddened to say that is not the case. The quality of ingredients from the bread to the meat and selection of condiments has declined. We will return but just for the bread and hibiscus cooler iced tea.

Obsessed doesn't even begin to describe how I feel about Blue Blinds! I pop in at least once a week. It's always my go to spot when taking out-of-towners out for lunch or coffee. Delicious food, beautiful setting, and no matter how packed to the gills it gets it's still somehow a calming atmosphere.

I love this place. Very good food and drinks. Love their chicken noodle soup and pumpkin spice. It is right on my way to art class so it is very convenient, but it wouldn't be convenient for most people

Vermont/Cambridge style coffee shop..cool hippie vibes. Great baked goods and lunchtime fare..locally sourced organic stuff. Run by 12 tribes, very nice people and a cozy place to hang.

It shouldn't take 25 minutes to make 3 sandwiches. The man in front of us got fed up with waiting and asked for his money back. We started to do the same and suddenly our food appeared! Imagine that. The food wasn't that great in my opinion but the people I was with really liked it. I think it's what i ordered, it was the caprese sandwich and I don't recommend it. The cashier was super friendly and that was about as good as it got. I wouldn't return if I'm ever in the area again.

This place is definitely worth checking out for lunch. Looks like they prepare all the food onsite. Much o it is organic. We had the Turkey sandwich, chicken noodle soup, and cheese board all of which were very good. The staff were friendly There's a wide covered porch to have lunch outside if its not too cold and the inside area is nice The Hot tea (English breakfast) was good. All in all a very good lunch

Short breakfast menu, quirky and earthy, and the opposite of most tourist town places. Items are fresh prepared and delicious. Order at the counter and they bring your order to you. Sit on the porch if weather permits or inside, but there are a limited number of tables. Staff is helpful with suggestions/recommendations if you ask. Coffee is excellent. Eggs on cheddar toast is their most popular dish and I highly recommend it. Returned for lunch and sat on the porch on an unseasonably warm October day, Sandwiches made on their bread were perfect and we really enjoyed the cabbage-beef soup too. We indulged ourselves and shared a slice of peach pie, which was so good it seemed sinful(!)

Blue Blinds is a great bakery in the quaint town of Plymouth, and it certainly delivers on flavor. The ambiance inside is very welcoming, with chairs and tables scattered around a fire. We didn't have a chance to try any of the homemade breads or breakfasts, but I plan to soon. We got a blueberry and a raspberry blind, a couple of orange scones, and two mocha peanut butter cups. The blinds and the scones were awesome, and the peanut butter cup was good too. I think this'll be the place I flock to anytime I want a delicious, homemade pastry. Can't wait to try the other items on their menu!

I wish I remembered to come here more often because it's honestly a great place for a simple but thoughtful breakfast or lunch and really great coffee/tea in the downtown Plymouth area. The wait can be long sometimes, but it's well worth it. The decor is homey and somewhat bohemian with mismatched furniture and a big inviting porch to sit on as well. Everything I've had is delicious from the sandwiches to the pastries to the egg dishes to the chai lattes, and they make their own granola-powerbar type treats with peanut butter and mate and oats and carob chips which are out of this world. Addicting. Open 24 hours except for Saturdays! Definite gem.

Rustic, Quality, Inexpensive! THIS is the place you're looking to go to! I make it a point to always stop in whenever I'm in the area. Inexpensive, quality, LOCAL, and artisan produced foods. Fair-Trade coffee, Yerba Mate & Tea, AMAZING baked goods, and Hearty, Crusty, Fresh Bread! The staff is exceptionally friendly, and the ambience makes it feel as though you are eating in a cafe from the colonial days.

If you have the patience to wait about an hour for some food it's not too shabby. DON'T expect anything to come out fast... Even a cup of coffee....

  • Kelsey D.

Delightful little bakery. Great prices and quality products. The staff is very nice! I see some complaints here about how long it takes for the food to be ready... If you want fast then go to McDonald's but you'll probably pay more and get less quality. Everything is made to order and a lot (if not all) of the stuff they make is homemade from scratch. I walked in here on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. Can't wait for an opportunity to go back.

I really like the variety of breads here. They're closed on Saturday though, and they close early on Friday. You can also find them at the Plymouth Farmers market (on Thursdays; seasonal). They're located in downtown Plymouth, down a side street. They're not located in the ocean, as the map indicates.

Blue Blinds Bakery is a small, adorable shop that sells pastries, breads, sandwiches, soups and the like. Everything I've had at Blue Blinds is delicious! My personal favorite is the Roast Beef Sandwich, which comes with pecorino cheese, arugula, tomatoes, horseradish sauce, and EVOO. It's served on a fresh whole wheat baguette (the bread may in fact be the best part, because it's amazing). Food is made to order, so it's not the kind of place I'd go if I was in hurry, but if you have a little time, then it's well worth the wait. They use lots of fresh and organic ingredients. Be aware that there is limited seating available inside and on the porch, and they are closed on Saturday's in observance of the Sabbath.

Stopped in for a little afternoon treat since I had read so many good reviews. We were pleasantly surprised. I had an ice coffee and some type of mocha peanut butter cup thingy that was awesome. The wife had some type of hibiscus friut tea cooler that was very good as well. She had a ginger cookie that was excellent as well. Very nice old house or inn with a large front porch. Staff was very friendly and service was prompt. There were several cakes and pies on display that looked amazing.

Most helpful tips for yelp readers is Blue Blinds is closed every Saturday. This establishment serves fresh brewed coffee in a mug with a little silver spoon for stirring. The desserts all looked good. The dining area looks like a colonial living room and is equipped with a working fire placed. To me the place looked nice but the white trim in the room could use touching up.

Blue Blinds Bakery is awesome. Walking in, I feel like I've gone back in time. They have these really old wood flooring that adds to the decade of what Blue Blind bakery is trying to replicate. The walls are painted with different scenes of the pilgrims landing and what not. It's a small place with a couch a few tables. The bread is made in house and you can often seen them in the back kneading dough. The staff is friendly and quaint. They also wear these funny pants that are almost similar to the one you see in old Chinese King Fu movies where they are tapered at your ankles. The pastries and desserts look quite appetizing, it I hadn't eaten before I arrived, I would've gotten one of their macaroons. Overall, a really cute and quaint place for some afternoon tea, latte, or snack; whatever you are craving and a nice pit stop from all the touristy attractions downtown Plymouth offers.

Not to be corny, but there is something amazing about this place, and you can feel it right when you walk in. Just a few short minutes walk from the seaside, Blue Blinds has a grand southern style porch with seating that overlooks picturesque North Street. Within, you are greeted by walls painted with a Pilgrim story mural, and an earthy, leathery scent, kind of reminiscent of a colonial home in a living history museum. Must come from the furniture, I think. Regardless, I find it utterly pleasing. Dark wood floors, high ceilings and central air make the place a happy stop on a hot summer day. Excellent coffee, excellent bakery treats. I was excited to see sea salt brined feta in the fridge. We sat by a window and spent a blissful hour here at Blue Blinds. This is not your average coffee place. This is... the way a coffee place should be. Highly recommended.

"Pancakes are good, French toast is phenomenal! Fresh baked bread, nice aromas, friendly staff ( the baker even came out to talk with us) and a nice porch to sit on. Wish this place was a little closer to home - 3000 miles is a little too far to come on a regular basis!

Yea, I'll give Blue Blinds five stars. I'll also tell you why. It's because on a rainy, cold and dark day in New England there's nothing better than going to Blue Blinds Bakery for lunch and getting a grilled cheese and cup of chicken noodle soup for five dollars and sitting next to warm fireplace the rest of the afternoon reading a book in a comfortable leather chair with a cup of tea. Or deciding on a beautiful spring day to get a roast beef sandwich with horseradish, tomato and fresh greens on freshly baked bread and then eating while sitting in the rocking chair on their porch. And not only is the atmosphere great, the food is too. That grilled cheese I mentioned above? Amazing.

I was in Plymouth for 10 days and I went to Blue Blinds Bakers 7 times! I think that speaks for itself. The food was amazing and it is real food, no fake ingredients. Everyone there was extremely helpful and friendly. I wish we had one here at home in Phoenix, AZ. Can't wait to go back to Plymouth and eat there again...oh and to visit my family too ; )

I have to give Blue Blinds Bakery an enthusiastic rating because they sure came through during our visit to Plymouth, Massachusetts this past Thanksgiving. Hardly any restaurants are open on Thanksgiving, but Blue Blinds was. It was cold outside, and their restaurant was cozy, the food was comforting and organic (we ordered their chili, apple pie, and lattes,) and the perfect stop on a freezing cold day. I'm sorry that the employees had to work on Thanksgiving Day, but I sure was thankful that they did.

Top two spot in Plymouth. This place is really unique. The two egg breakfast combo is incredible! The entire menu is actually super cheap. They're closed Saturdays... which can be annoying... especially when you want to show the place off to friends. The iced coffee is super strong... love it. The people are really friendly. They have hand-crafted cheeses on sale... sometimes they're expired to check the dates. Also, I got the wheat bread and I wasn't impressed... it fell apart really easily. Maybe because it was one of the "day old" specials. Try the sun-dried tomato bread - it's awesome.

Despite the connection with the Twelve Tribes as others have mentioned, this place as well as their Common Sense Natural Store on the main street in Plymouth really perfected my day in Plymouth. The Cafe has great baked goods, coffee and tea. We ordered a fresh apple pie on a Thursday night and sat for over an hour listening to the great 7-piece string jam session going on. There are couches, tables and a fire place. There is also a large front deck to enjoy the weather. The walls are also a BEAUTIFULLY painted chronological mural of the pilgrims arrival in America and their life prior to.

A lovely place for breakfast. Everything is fresh made and of high quality. The pancakes and french toast were fantastic and portioned, as every breakfast should be, generously. Also a bit of fruit on the side. Combine the good food with very friendly service, good prices, and a great atmosphere, this place is baked gold.

Best coffee in Plymouth. Their front porch is very nice in the summer. I have got French toast, blue blinds Danish, corn chowder and their sandwiches and loved them all. Only issue not open on Saturdays.

I have been hearing about this place from my students for the past couple of years, and finally took the opportunity to visit with Pam this morning. The food choices are mainly baked goods with just a few other breakfast items. And what we had was wonderful! I had French toast at the suggestion of another reviewer, and was quite pleased by the tasty/healthy balance. Pam enjoyed eggs and cheddar over homemade bread. We both had excellent coffee from Speedwell, all for a very reasonable price. The atmosphere is quite homey -- clean and bright with beautiful art, interesting furniture, and pleasing music. Who knew, for example, that Chrissie Hynde had done an acoustic version of "Chain Gang?" I did not! The staff is better connected to the food (which is baked fresh within the community) than to the coffee. But at least some fair-trade from Speedwell (a local roaster) is available, and it is prepared reasonably well.

The food here is rustic, affordable and delicious. That having been said, the people who run this establishment are an almost cult like counterculture in and of themselves, which is kind of interesting. The service is definitely an issue here, it can be unnecessarily slow. Dining room is very unique and cozy but space is limited. There is a town parking lot located directly across North Street but note Parking is not free from April to November.

Wonderful place with amazing baking and lunch selections. I do not usually like beef and cabbage soup but it was delicious. The cheese plate is served with a selection of really, really great breads. I am a sucker for spelt and they had a multigrain spelt. The service is polite and informative. However if you like to talk, the staff welcomes you and shares information about Plymouth or other interests you share. The Blue Blinds house has an attractive historical mural and inside seating. Alternatively you can relax and dine on the porch overlooking a peaceful side street. I would go back more often but it is a bakery and I have to pace myself. Still remembering the almond bread slices.

SB and I are big fans of the Blue Blinds Bakery. It's super cute inside and out, with a few small tables, a couch and a couple of chairs. There's some great mural work on the walls. The coffee and drinks are tasty. The bread is soft and delicious, and the sandwiches are simple but filling. I really enjoyed my roast beef sandwich there the other day, though I think I would prefer to have it on a soft bread rather than the baguette. The baklava was more of a turnover than anything, but that doesn't take away from how awesome it was. Folks at the blue blinds may be part of a commune/cult, whatever. They're very friendly and they make some damn good bread. There's not enough bakeries in Plymouth, and you'll probably enjoy the Blue Blinds quite a bit if you try them out, so please support them.

Grilled cheese sandwich - NOT on the menu; just go in and ask for it. So, so delicious - not sure what kind of cheese they used, but anytime I can bite into a sandwich and pull it away and get strings of cheese stretched out b/w my mouth and the bread = WIN. I got it on the spinach-garlic bread - brilliant move on my part; wholeheartedly recommend. The man who rang me up mentioned a "deal" with a smaller cup of soup paired with grilled cheese - DO IT.

A cafe like this is what sunday mornings are made for. wonderful colonial furniture and decorations, warm flavorful coffee, and a satisfying breakfast. I ordered the french toast and was immediately transported to a happy place. It was eggy and thick with just enough sweetness and I enjoyed that it was on a multigrain bread so there was a hint of nutty flavor. The Vermont syrup added just enough sweetness to the whole thing. I came back the next day for some bread as a gift for a friend and opted for the macaroons as well. I'm docking points for the macaroons because they were really quite dry and not very flavorful. The chocolate really wasn't a macaroon at all with nuts and raisins embedded in it. Interesting, but not the best thing ever. Next time I'm in the area, I'll just come back for the french toast.

This has to be the cutest coffe shop-bakery I've ever been in! It's gorgeous. The food was just as wonderful as the decor. We literally stumbled on this place after a long day of driving. We had fish chowder in a bread bowl and fruit smoothies - both we're excellent. I wished we lived closer so I could come here more often. Sooooo yummy!

I have been a semi regular here for years . Everything is amazing, homemade, and organic. My personal fave is the eggs and cheddar on sunflower flax bread. So filling, but not in an I can't move type of way. I have had pretty much everything on the menu and have been wowed every single time! I am a huge latte fan. Theirs. Are the best!! But my new drink is called a vanilla dandee . It tastes like a latte on better. And it's all natural , no caffeine!! I I have made it my mission to bring everyone I know here. So far so good. I have no lie turned at least 15 friends into regulars . They all love it. The place is immaculate and has outdoor seating on the porch. Or in the winter sit by the fireplace and wonder why you can't feel this good everyday. If you are in a rush, I don't think this is your place. Great food takes time. Expect a fair wait , but it is soooo worth it. Prices are also reasonable.

This place is great. We had a groupon for $20. WOW did we get alot. I got a bread and cheese platter, sweet potato loaf/cake thing, 2 drinks, loaf of bread, coconut macaroon and I believe there is something else, but I can't remember. It was so good. We sat on the porch as we waited for our bread and cheese platter. It was great. There was also fresh fruit with it. The bread was warm and there was a great variety of cheeses. I was extremely impressed. The people are very polite and greet you with a smile. It's a nice place to grab a snack and relax.

I don't know if I should post a good review, because I don't want this place to get more popular (seating is limited.) Blue Blinds serves fresh, delicious food in a tiny restaurant with about five tables, a couple of chairs, and a couch. Limited options, but they are all so outstanding. I feel good after eating here because of the quality of the food served. It takes a little while for food to come out but that is only because it is cooked to order. Anyway, I don't go to Blue Blinds weekly to eat fast, I go there to eat well.

Very nice cafe. Had a cup of chicken noodle soup which was delicious. The soup came with a very tasty slice of their homemade bread. It's a comfortable place with fabulous and very powerful murals of the Pilgrims descending upon Plymouth. Loved it and am going back for their breakfast tomorrow morning.

I love Blue Blinds...Great breads, soups and sandwiches. Limited menu but everything is good. Great place to grab a quick bite or hang out by the fireplace in the winter. I never leave without a loaf of their bread to take home with me.

This is the finest bakery I have experienced this side of the Atlantic Ocean. The food is always fresh and tastes like homemade, because it is. The atmosphere is cozy with 2 river stone fireplaces and incredible murals of Plymouth's history.

Finally made it for breakfast! Got the pancakes, 2 HUGE pancakes, real maple syrup and a little bunch of grapes for 5.00 is pretty fantastic. The pancakes were so good I didn't even use that much syrup....just a little butter. They also have stopped carrying the often expired cheese in their refrigerator case and now stock house made jarred items (I think I saw pickles and jams, kinda skimmed right past them) and cold quarts and cups of soup. I immediately grabbed a quart of butternut bevy to bring home. They also had a new bread, roasted red pepper and asiago cheese that I also purchased. It was phenomenal! if you haven't been here yet WHAT IS STOPPING YOU!

Have not been here in a while, but the first I was there was one I will remeber. I always loved organic food, and loved to help out small buisness, but when I heard about this place being that and more, I knew I had to make a stop by. I went with a friend for lunch and got a bowl of squash soup and a grilled cheese, and a herba mai tai to drink. Finding a seat is a rare occurance there, you usuallt have to wait for your food, and then wait for a table because its so packed, but once we got a small table and got to enjoy our food.. Boy was it warm and comfortable, and sitting by the fire was even better. The soup was amazing and the grilled cheese was cooked perfectly. After being done with that, I heard a woman say their desserts are to die for, so I took that as a challenge, I went up to the counter and asked for two slices of cheesecake (one to bring back home to my mother too) and it was a great cheesecake not the best I have had, but so good! This place is a hippy's dream!

The best bakery/eatery in town. Went there for breakfast to go - purchased a blueberry muffin which was the best I've ever eaten in my life. The blueberries were warm and popped deliciously in my mouth. I've always been more than satisfied when eating here.

Awesome food, awesome ambience, and awesome service. We came on a Sunday afternoon at 4pm, to find that they recently changed their Sunday hours to 3pm. Despite their being closed, they still served us the most delicious butternut squash soup with homemade bread and butter. We had a groupon certificate for $20 and had a tough time spending the money but we managed by having some of their delicious coffee, homemade desserts and two loaves of fresh bread! We will definitely be back!

Worth the trip from Boston. Great breads and baked goods made on location. If you get there early, the granola will still be warm. Excellent egg and cheddar sandwich on delicious bread. Unique decor, nice porch with a couple of tables. Limited menu, not open on Saturday's but it's a high quality place

I had the absolute pleasure of meeting Brian, one of the owners of this incredible restored Victorian house at 7 North Street. He sat with me because I was writing a piece on the bakery for another website. Brian briefly described the journey of turning this old house into a bakery. It was a dream that began in 2000 and came to fruition in December of 2008. Everyone knows baking is an art form, here at Blue Blinds it is an art form that is perfected. From the artisan breads, organic ingredients and perhaps some Gluten Free items as well; you see, smell and taste the specialness of this gem. There's a front porch with comfortable chairs for lingering. Inside there is space to make memories with friends and loved ones. French toast with maple syrup, home made granola and pastries that will send anyone with a sweet tooth into instant bliss. There is a wonderful selection of hot teas including Yerba Matte (my personal favorite) and enough warmth and kindheartedness from the staff to make you feel at home. Considering all things in moderation; I will make it a point to spend my time here. I highly suggest you do the same. It will warm your soul.

Everything is consistently amazing! I come here to do homework (they have wireless internet) and I never want to leave. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and so are the people who work here. Yashar, one of the cashiers, is extremely knowledgeable about all of the food, not to mention patient and helpful. I have yet to try every item on the menu, but I have yet to be disappointed. One of my favorite meals is the reasonably priced egg and cheddar breakfast, plated with a little side of organic fruit. Heavenly! Every baked good is pretty perfect, and they have the BEST (non traditional) baklava I have ever had. Oh and the best spelt bread I've ever had. Oh and the most delicious french toast of all time, served with real maple syrup. I'm drooling now, yikes. Come in and grab an endless cup of coffee, or yerba mate, or tea, and sit by the fire or out on the porch. There are so many great things to say about Blue Blinds, and I'm lucky enough to live in Plymouth so I can continue to experience it's glory. Fantastic!
