My husband and I visited the Centennial House several times, and are always taken aback by the beauty of the grounds and the coziness of the B&B. Joan and Steve do a wonderful job opening up their home and making feel home to us. The grounds are beautiful and well-groomed, the interior is cozy, very clean and warm. The food is amazing. I highly recommend the Centennial House to anyone looking for a warm stay. Why spend the same $ at an unpersonalized hotel when you can spend the same when staying "home away from home" with amazing service and yummy food? Well worth it.

We totally enjoyed our stay. The room was clean and very nicely decorated. The breakfasts we both made with fresh local ingredients, very tasty and filling. The inn keepers were both very friendly, knowledgeable and showed concern that we were having a good time. They left us alone but were engaging when appropriate. the grounds were also lovely. Booking was easy. Thanks to Joan and Steve for sharing their house.

Through the years my wife and I try to stay at many different B&B's in and around New England. We usually stay in Feb. around Valentines Day to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We really loved the old colonial house with its many rooms and post and beam ceiling in the main dining room. The hosts are absolutely wonderful, gracious people who take pride in their home. Yes, they actually live there, and so it makes you feel like a real guest. It is in a nice quiet town away from all the hustle and bustle of the cities. The hot breakfasts were outstanding, served with fresh fruit, yogurt, scones and your choice of beverages. They were very helpful and knowledgeable to give us directions on places to go and things to do. We have stayed at many B&B's and this one is at the top of our list as one of the best. We are looking forward to our next stay , and I would personally recommend this place to anyone.

A bed and breakfast should be measured by the quality of...its bed and breakfast. At Centennial House, not only was the bed comfortable after a long day of sight seeing, waking up to the stimulation of the olfactory sense coming from the kitchen and soon on our plates tempts me to treat this review as one for a restaurant. If you stay at the Centennial House, be ready for the best in country breakfasts, where berries come from the property and other ingredients are fresh and local. But what about execution? All those fresh ingredients can still be botched, abused or misused. Not so here as the omelets and pancakes were well executed and provided the nourishment for a day of exploration. Located on Main Street in Northfield, the House provides easy access to nearby highways that lead to attractions such as Historic Deerfield, Yankee Candle, Kringle Kandle, Brattleboro VT and the Mohawk Trail. Additionally, we were guided to a local waterfall (Hobo Falls) by our informative hosts, Joan and Steve. During our first breakfast, Joan was ready with suggestions on activities in the area and had a card for complementary admission to Historic Deerfield. You will find that the hosts knowledge of the local area runs deep and they will guide you to making the most of your time in this beautiful part of the country. The room we stayed in was sizable and comfortable, located on the second floor, with a fully functional shower ( assigned to one closet in our room) and sink/toilet ( assigned to another closet in the room). Some rooms will make use of a common bathroom so be sure to check when booking. The first floor is where you will have breakfast, lounge about in a study and read various books on the area, relax and want to never leave. Special thanks to the House for greeting us at the very late hour of after 11pm, several hours after the check-in time. It was a pleasure staying here and I highly recommend to any one who appreciates colonial architecture, gracious hosts and good eats.

We had a great time staying here. The owners of the b&b are excellent hosts. They catered to all of our food needs. Lovely place with the real new England feel to it. Definitely plan on staying here in the future.

If you're going to have a bed and breakfast, two things better be great: the bed and the breakfast! As for the bed, it was a high bed with a very comfy mattress. I like that sort of thing. As for breakfast, as someone else has noted, meager on the hot dish items. The brochure pictures of a large bowl of (self-serve?) eggs and potatoes were nowhere to be seen. Instead we were each served precut portions of whatever was made broccoli and cheese strata was basically mostly bread with scant cheese and two dried up twigs of broccoli). Only white bread carbs available. Breadbasket has white bread and white English muffins the first day, and only white bread the second day.
