Maplewood is a new - and delightful - family owned business where you can find ice cream, Italian ice, coffee (regular and fancy), and food. I love this place! It looks like one of those old timey candy stores with glass jars of candy on the counters, and rows of Marvel and other Pez candy dispensers. We got the Italian ice, watermelon and lemon together, and it was perfect, hit the spot. The owner chatted with us, gave us a complimentary candy, and as we left he and his son (?) gave us a friendly good-bye. They have sandwiches - egg and meat, pbj, tuna - and French toast and such. Ice cream in dozens of flavors, frappes, milk shakes. Awesome!

Muffins are excellent and fresh... Nice spot to hit for a quick coffee and breakfast before work. Place was selling a whole lot more stuff but didn't have time to browse because I had to catch the bus which was conveniently located right out front! Definitely will be checkin back in to see what's going on, place had a good vibe.

Yelp search features comes through again! We had just spent a hot afternoon gathering up items to put into storage in the Malden area and wanted to treat ourselves to some ice cream, a place we had never been before. Up comes Maplewood, a quaint shop near the corner of a nice sized square on the east side of Malden. For what it lacks in size, it definitely makes up with character and customer service. There are a handful of tables to the right as you walk in and the ice cream flavors (Richardson's) are prominently displayed in cases on the left. I was craving a frappe and my better half wanted a few scoops in a cone. I loved that they offered up frappe suggestions, I rarely think of combining two or three flavors into one but I'm really glad I did. I asked the owner what "Reese's" was like, I wasn't sure if it was more Pieces or Peanut Butter cup flavored. After a taste test, I went with this along with chocolate ice cream to make up my deliciously thick frappe. When I say quaint, I really mean it. The joint is small and they offer up many other items beyond ice cream, like icees and breakfast foods such as sandwiches and muffins. I saw a PB&J on the menu so they seem like a sandwich shop as well. I love places like this and I really hope they are doing well, I will for sure be back when I'm making my way through the area. This defines a family run ice cream shop of yesteryear so please go out and support them, you won't be disappointed!

Cute little shop,I took my best friend and sister to this place on a whim I got a small maple walnut ice cream it was delicious and he filled it to the rim! and my friend got a medium pistachio which was also filled to full capacity then he got free extra pistachio ice cream because he was emptying the freezer! Win!

The place looks appealing from the outside, so I was waiting for an opportunity to stop by. I brought my son here last summer for some ice cream. It's a cute little shop and has lots of novelty candies that brought me back to my childhood. My son got Richie's slush and I got vanilla ice cream with chocolate sprinkles. After driving away, I began eating my ice cream and was very disappointed. It tasted old and freezer-burned...You know, like that tub of ice cream you forget in your freezer for months and forms crystals/ice on the top layer? Exactly. I threw it away and decided that if I ever do return, it will only be for candy and snacks...I'll go somewhere else for the ice cream.

Great coffee. Breakfast sandwiches are the real deal (egg cooked for you, no frozen patties here). Ownership is solid and service is more than friendly. Make this a morning stop!

Stopped by this little coffee shop on my way home from work. Sign out front said gingerbread muffins so I gave it a shot. Glad that I did. Owner and employees were very friendly and introduced themselves. Coffee was freshly ground and roasted when I got there and the muffins did not disappoint. They also have icecream, tons of candies, french toast, and other goodies. Will be back again.
