If it's nice out, I'm eating outside. If there's a view of the water, all the better and almost anything is forgivable. This is a nice new addition to Hull with great deck overlooking Sunset Bay Marina and the harbor. Standard pub food with seafood, pasta, salads and burgers, including veggie burgers for us vegetarians. Really good draft beer selections. Apparently this is a chain, which normally I avoid. The other places are all in Maine. Heavenly sitting outside in the sun with our beer, food, breeze and view.

Went for brunch, smelled, staff was rude, limited breakfast menu, and super greasy!!!! Bloody Mary bar was shameful! Will not return until I can have a beer outside next summer, that's it. We were the ONLY ones there!!!!!! Kinda tells you something. Positive, nice view.

Went here for the first time with my boyfriend recently on a Friday night, expecting the place to be busy due to the location. Walked in and were seated immediately, surprised to see that the restaurant was mostly empty. It didn't take long to figure out why. We waited 15 minutes and no waiter or waitress ever came to our table! When we got up to leave we got half-assed apologies from the two hostesses. Major disappointment.

2012: Good service... Thank you Christine. Beer was tasty... Food was good. View is awesome. I'm a fan again. Thanks Sea Dog.

The location can't be beat. The food is pretty good overall. The options are not extensive and it is a brew pub, not a bistro and certainly not a fine dining establishment. The steamers are AWESOME with consistent quality, having ordered them on multiple occasions. The fish and chips are not bad, grilled fish was pretty good, and overall the food is better than decent. You go there for the location, view and ambiance -- to drink and enjoy the view. The food is not the main event but it is a good compliment to the overall event.

The rudest, most incompetent staff I've ever met. The hostess is beyond rude. The food wasn't great. Obviously amazing view which was how they earned one star. Perhaps worst dining out experience I've ever had which is what prompted me to write my first yelp review.

This place is great! By far my favorite outdoor summer spot! Amazing view, great roof deck and of course best sea dog beer selection! They recently changed their menu and the food is so much better. Went here a few times in past and was always disappointed with the food despite loving the place and beer. But now that menu and food are better quality will be here often. Staff is friendly and service is good. They have a great Sunday brunch with a reggae band and Bloody Mary bar. Love this place!

I really really love this place. The view is unreal and the food isn't bad nor a bad price. I love coming here in the summer because I'm 1 street over so it's only a 2 min walk. It's on a street and it's out of the way for the tourists so it's like a hidden gem for me. I don't think there's an elevator so if someone in your party can't go 3 floors of stairs then don't go. Over the summer it gets a lot busier especially when the sunsets over boston. Now last summer this happened a few times to myself and my guests that I brought there: their hostess was telling us totally wrong times for waits. Now I was a hostess for years and knew she was b/s with her wait times. She said 90 minutes and there was only 2 parties of 6 ahead of us and she drove off many people saying that obv. And I was like ummm..not trying to tell you how to do your job but..you would have to re-seat this entire restaurant before it will take 90 minutes. I even showed her where to put both of her parties of 6 and where she was gunna put my dad, aunt and I. I didn't want to do that but she clearly had no idea what she was doing.

I have been here 4 times. Great beer and view. Food is average pub food. Calamari was bland and the steamers were overpriced and tiny. Decent burger. Wait staff is friendly but service is very slow. Would have given another star if service was better. Eat somewhere else and go there for the beer and sunset.

Decent beer, great location, the absolute worst food. Not even worthy of feeding my own "sea" dog. I can't say much for friendly service either. Save your money, watch the sunset from the public pier and eat elsewhere.

Beer and view review only! Have never eaten here, but I love the view, and the beer. I actually wish it wasn't just seasonal because even in a September rain it was just cool to look out at that view. I'd love to see it in the middle of February. Go and grab a pint and sit on the deck or as close to a window as possible.

Stopped in here a few weeks ago before the Darius Rucker show. Absolutely great location over looking the water. So nice to watch the planes come in for a landing across the Boston Skyline. So the positives first: Obviously the view and secondly the beer, especially the blueberry beer.Unfortunately, after that it falls off. The food really isn't that good here. I had a burger that was dry and honestly had a funny taste. Can't put my finger on it and I didn't get sick so I'll leave it at that. My advice, go for a beer and the view but that's it.

great view, good beer. service and food leave alot to be desired. been to this place several times over the past two summer and have yet to be impressed by anything other than the sunset. it's really unfortunate, the space has such potential, but like most other great locations in hull, they rely on the view and dont put enough time and effort into the meals. Calamari was inedible, rubbery and tasteless. burgers are okay, nothing special. mixed drinks have been weak and bland. wish i could rate this place higher....

Visited the pub last Sunday for the second and final visit. First visit (2 weeks ago) was disappointing but I figured they were into the re-opening for the summer mode. Went Sunday and they had a Jamaican Brunch. Music was good (sole player) and the view is like all others described, great location. Problem is the waitstaff is not properly trained and the food presentation is very poor. Yeah, I agree with prior posts that it is a "beer joint" and the beer is good. But if you offer food and charge a decent amount ($18.99 for a lobster roll), as a customer, you have a right to expect value. Waitstaff, polite and helpful, but poorly trained. The manager needs to make sure they understand the fundamentals of handling a table/customers. Seated by the hostess and the table was a bit dirty and had a set-up for one, not two. (Half the restaurant was empty) Hostess did not notice and had to remind the waitress. Ordered an omelette and lobster roll. Omelette was not properly cooked. Over cooked on the outside and runny/raw on the inside. (Probably cooked on a fire too hot.) Had to send it back and got another. Fruit salad came with the omlette and it was delivered in a cup half filled with liquid. It was probably scooped out of a jar and they did not even drain the liquid. Also, the fruit was soggy, not even close to fresh. Lobster roll was a disappointment (tried it 2 weeks ago and had the same result). There was a small amount of meat and it was mostly shredded lobster (like pulled pork). The only chunk was from a claw and not the meaty part. Also, it was served on cut bread that was soggy from the mayo in the lobster meat. So, if you start by drinking lots of beer and have the munchies, anything will probably taste good. if you don't drink alot and enjoy good food, this is a place with potential but needs to be managed with more focus on the staff and food. Great location, but everything else needs fixing.

Go hungry. Leave. We anxiously awaited the opening of the Sea Dog Pub being how I love the beer. Drove from Braintree to Hull on July 5th in that Hull summer traffic to get there on the holiday weekend. As soon as we walked in I was extremely impress with the decor and the view from everywhere was amazing! And that's about where it ends. We sat at the rather small bar and waited 10 minutes (which is a lifetime in beer speak) to even be acknowledged. Along with 5 other new patrons. All of us laughed as the bar staff chatted amongst themselves. The bartender reluctantly helped the guy next to us and then decided she needed another gossip break. As new patrons came in, it became laughable. Almost to the point we had to get up and get our own silverware, ice, napkins. We've since went back thinking maybe they were still getting out the kinks. But nope. Kinks still firmly intact. WHEN you get served, the food is decent. But the "in a minute" (as in 'wait a damn minute') service makes it hard to enjoy. Distract yourself with the spectacular views (and they are spectacular) for a long while. As long as your not on a schedule, you'll be fine.

Beers are good and I really like the blueberry, but the food is just ok and the service is generally slow. They make a good burger, but who can't? The problem is you order a beer and a burger, get the beer, then the burger, then 30 minutes later you are asked if everything is ok and if you want anything else...meanwhile you have no beer, no water, no nothing, just poor service. I keep my boat there and Bob and Mike couldn't be any more helpful and polite and they take some of the pains of owning a boat away but with the resturant so close I just wish it was better. It's gotten to the point, where we leave the marina to grab a sub at TD's down the street instead of just staying. To summarize...keep your boat here, but eat somewhere else.

The best thing about the Sea Dog is the location. Situated on the quiet bay side, the restaurant provides a magnificent view. The deck is a really awesome place to have some drinks but if you sit in doors, chances are you'll have a great view looking out the huge windows. The beer is great, obviously, as that's what they do. I've always been a fan of their Blueberry and everything else I've tried I liked. The menu, like others mention, is mostly pub fare, so don't go expecting something that is unique or "inspired" or any type of "fusion" that is trendy right now. However, if you're looking to go out and have a casual, relaxed meal with a really good (and filling) burger, then this is your place. Bonus points because they offer sweet potato fries.

Sat down here for a few beers and some fried clams on a Saturday afternoon fresh off the beach. Although the atmosphere is upscale suburban and the other patrons were dressed as such, no one batted an eye at our sandy feet and moist bathing suits soaking through our t-shirts. This is a very pretty location to enjoy a post-beach beverage and enjoy we did. I had the Windjammer Blonde Ale and it was delish. My dining partner had the Quadruple X IPA and was pleased with the choice--a dangerously drinkable high-octane beer. We also ordered the fried clams appetizer. I'm probably showing my non-New England roots when I say this, but we were bummed by how gritty they were and did not enjoy them much. I ordered a flight to console myself and was pleased to find that the Gollywobbler Brown and the blueberry flavored lager were excellent. The others were OK, but not really notable. Overall, a good way to prepare for sitting in traffic on the way back to Boston. :)

I had to talk my boyfriend into trying this place so we thought we'd check out the menu before ordering. After climbing a few flights of stairs, he didn't care what they offered, he wasn't going back down to find someplace else. We were delighed!! Definately pub food, but generous amounts and a beautiful view. Service was quick and friendly!! I don't know if they have an elevator for older patrons, but that was the only drawback I could find. Will definately go back again!

We came here on a beautiful afternoon around 4 and sat on the deck. The view is spectacular over the bay. Our waitress was very attentive. I had the Gin Gimlet and my wife had the Moscow Mule, both of which were very delicious. Astounded by the day and view, we settled in for 3 hours on the deck, watching the weather change and the boats sail by. During this time we had 2 orders of steamers. These were locally sourced, Scituate in this case, and very tasty. The portions were a bit light (8 or so clams) and a bit pricy at $16. But we enjoyed them, so that was fine. We moved on to wines. The wine list is all domestic and short, but competent. The Cupcake Chardonnay and Jekel Pinot Noir were both very good. We finished our meal there with an order of Steak Tips with Garlic Green Beans and Fries. This was also very good. The Chef was kind enough to split this into two plates and we were charged only for one meal. Very nice. Our waitress was wonderful throughout, didn't rush us, and let us enjoy a very special time out on that lovely deck. We plan to come back.

The view was 5 stars. Out on the deck had a great evening view of the water and of Boston which is framed beautifully by the land masses on either side. The craft style beers here are good too if not a bit pricey. Not that unusual because this isn't mass produced coors or budweisers, though those beers are available if you choose. Then menu looked good but the food under delivered. To me it lacked some actual taste. I had the calamari & the fish tacos. The calamari was very underwhelming as it had no real flavor to it and was on the chewy side. The fish tacos weren't anything special and definitely not as good as the fish tacos down the street at barefoot bob's. These tacos had a slaw the dominated the palate and unfortunately only provided a wet cold crunch. The other downside? The porch is just too small and got very crowded on the Friday night I was visiting. Both in terms of density of tables and guests but also for the wait time for a table out there. It's such a gorgeous setting that's not surprising. The crowd both inside and out dissipated fairly early before 11 so this isn't really a late night hot spot. Again, judging on my one Friday night experience. I'm definitely open to giving them a 2nd chance with the food and while mediocre this time I can see room for improvement. And the view will definitely get me back!

In a word - UNPARALLELED ! Excellent seafood prepared in interesting and attractive presentations. Excellent creative menu selections. Excellently designed menu. Great selection of brews. Fantastic staff. Inexpensive. Superb view of the Bay from 100% of the seating. An outdoor deck to die for. Oh yes.......... Great logo and super attractive T-shirts for sale.

A great find off the main beach area of Nantasket. Clean, modern design with outdoor patio seating over the marina pier. Great selection of Sea Dog beers to choose from. I had the Crabcake appetizer with the Windjammer Blonde Ale. Delicious!

I already had decided that SeaDog BlueBerry was the best Blueberry Beer I have had, and I have actually been to Wachusett's Brewery. Wachusett is very good, as is Newport Storm, but I think SeaDog gets the balance of the blueberry to hops etc better. We initially had trouble finding the place, not clearly remembering where the Hull "Alphabet Streets" began. This actually occurs way up past (sob ! ) Paragon Park, by what the Old Colony Railroad called "Kenberma". The view is very good. One can see several Harbor Islands, Boston in the distance. It is sort of in a working boat yard, if this sort of thing turns you on. I got the SeaDog Blueberry, which as I said I knew I liked, and tried the SeaDog Porter Hazlenut, which was also excellent. What a great place they have way up in NowhereLand. My BBQ Burger was quite good, as was GrandMa's Buffalo Chicken Sandwhich. Service was excellent from the young brunette, who was like on 3 Red Bulls and was mad washing windows between covers. A three means I would go back, a Four means I would go out of my way to go back; this is a Four fer sure.

I went here with my family on Sunday at about 5PM. We were seated right away. The view is nice, the service was on the slow side. We ordered 2 burgers (mediocre) chicken fingers (very good, but they only gave me a tiny 2oz cup of the sauce?) crab cakes (pretty poor, they were small and tasted like the frozen kind, definitely didn't match the "bacon and peppar crusted" ones described in the menu) and mussels (those were excellent, very good broth and served with perfect cheesy garlic bread). Based on my experience, I would say this is definitely a place to visit for the view and the beer. I don't drink and I live in Hull- I see the view out my window- so I don't plan to go back unless I have guests in town.

My husband, son and I went to the Sea Dog last night a little before 6pm; I'd heard mixed reviews from people I know who've been. We sat out on the deck, it's a beautiful view. The tables could stand to be a bit further apart, but that's just my preference. We ordered coconut shrimp and the clam chowder to share for appetizers. Let's start w/the shrimp - poorly presented; 5 little shrimp sitting on a white plate w/the sad little silver cup of watery, flavorless chili sauce in the center. (A mango/pineapple salsa would dress it up, add color and give it any kind of flavor, hopefully) The coconut wasn't golden or crisp as the menu stated - just chewy and blah. I felt bad those little crustaceans weren't shown any love by the chef. Thankfully the clam chowder shined and my 3 1/2 year old exclaimed it was "deeelicious"! My husband ordered the BBQ cheeseburger, I got the tuna thai salad and my son got the fish and chips. The burger is HUGE and it was cooked perfectly; my son gobbled up the fish and I enjoyed the salad. I ordered the tuna medium and it was more rare than I would've liked but the freshness more than made up for it. Just a note to myself to order med/well next time. I'm admittedly bitter about those shrimp; It's top 5 on my favorite summer appetizer list and was just so dissapointing...

What can I say that hasn't already been said probably not much. I'll just repeat what others have said. Great location, beautiful views. Wait staff is pleasant but very slow with getting drinks, they have food runners so the food comes quickly you just end up waiting forever for a beer. And a strange thing happened twice I had probably 2 sips left in my beer glass and the waitress asked if she could take the glass. I'm like no I will finish my beer - so do I look cheap cause I won't let her take my not finished beer glass away or a lush 'cause it's good until the last drop? The truth is somewhere in the middle. Food really bad. Ordered the chips and onion dip, chips tasted like Cape Cod chips and OK onion dip. Fish tacos next no favor at all. Took 2 bites of 1 taco and left the other 2 untouched. Waitress asked why I didn't eat them I told her they were really awful. She said Oh, I'm sorry. No offer for a replacement dish or to be taken off the bill I'm pretty sure she's been told more than once the food is bad and probably are not allowed to offer replacement dishes or refunds. It was Hubbie's idea to come I warned him after reading the Yelps and now I will not let him forget that he took me to a restaurant I knew was bad before we got there.

We've been twice. First time, we sat at the bar for drinks and the service was great. But when we went out on the deck for the sunset and dinner, service rapidly declined. The second time we went, we went straight out to the deck for dinner and told our waitress of the poor service last time. The manager came over and promised to take good care of us, which she did. Bottom line: Good food, average service, spectacular sunsets!

I went to the Sea Dog for the lobster roll. My girlfriend was visiting from the UK and had never had a lobster roll before. Jakes, also in Hull would have probably been my first choice atmosphere wise, but a downloaded menu said their lobster roll was market price. A phone call revealed that it was about $4 more than the one at the Sea Dog, and I knew the one at the Sea Dog was a good one, since it was the what I had the first and only other time I went. So we went to the Sea Dog and ordered the lobster roll, which didn't disappoint. The server was right on it and was brought out very quickly. In fact everything was fine, except for the televisions blaring the Bruins game. Believe it or not, not everyone who takes a date out to dinner at a place renowned for it's view, wants to have television dominating the atmosphere. And dominate it did. I understand the customary television behind the bar, but it seemed excessive to have additional televisions running the same thing. The volume on the television in our corner was very, very loud. Clearly the assumption was everyone in the room would be focused on the game. Not so. We managed to have a nice dinner in spite of the loud TV, but it had the effect of making us want to leave as soon as we were done, rather than linger and take in the sun set over the water. Get the picture? I have my date, the woman of my dreams sitting with me overlooking this fabulous view, hoping for a vaguely romantic dinner and a TV set is blaring away with announcers and a running play by play just above our heads. This indicates to me the place is not being run by someone sensitive enough to anticipate that not everyone is into sports and TV while they eat.

Friday, 2pm. Sun shining. Late lunch on the deck. Breath taking view. Persuaded to try the sparkling pink lemonade cocktail (w vodka & raspberry puree). Fresh & delicious! Shared an order of fried pickles while we waited for our friend. Crunchy, salty - just like a big mac but way better & no mystery meat. Our server was knowledgeable and energetic. Moved us to a shady table once we'd had enough of the bright sunshine. I had the haddock sandwich, served on an onion roll. Again - fresh & delicious! This is a great pub. Not a gourmet restaurant. Would love to go back on a stormy day to watch the waves.

As the other reviews said, the location for this pub is its saving grace. There is a large outdoor patio that is right on the water and the views of the sun setting over the bay are stunning. If you're sitting with a beer on the patio, watching the sunrise, chances are that you have few things to complain about. I've been here a few times since I grew up down the street and still have lots of friends in the area. Every time I go, I want it to be better. But they just can't seem to get their service in sync with what customers want. Almost every time that I want another beer, I have to sit for 10 minutes with an empty one before my need is noticed. I personally think that if a beer is below a quarter full, a refill should be on the way (or at least I should be asked if I want one). The food is not bad, but not memorable. The buffalo wings were good, but how can you screw those up? I've had mussels there before too, that were good, but again, nothing noteworthy. I would come back here again because it's just such a relaxing spot. If you go there without an agenda and don't mind a slow, lazy evening, you'll have a good time.

what a phenomenal view from their outdoor seating area. we stopped here on a beautiful beach day and was content to spend most of the afternoon on their deck sitting in the elastic spring seats staring off towards the boston skyline. the marine-themed restaurant has only been open for two weeks, so not all their beer selections were available on draft yet. we tried the three available [skipped the flight selections] and were pretty content. the food was good, but nothing to write home about. definitely would go back to enjoy the view with a few brews.

Great location on great weather days. Have been a few times and taken some great pictures off the deck at sunset. Friends drive their boat up to the dock and come in for a drink. Food is pretty good. Had the Buffalo Chicken wrap the other night and it was just right. Had the Red Dog IPA and it was very good. Service is also good as they have a lot of staff on hand and they seem to know many of the people that come in. Great place for a date, family (earlier in the evening) and to watch a game. They also have wifi, ask for the code. Check it out!

Husband and I recently moved to Hull from WA state where brew pubs are not only great brew but great food. This one...not so much. Food was ok, not a locals place to go. A couple things that were disappointing. We were seated on the deck by our choice...a bit sunny but great view of the bay. Our table was very lopsided, so asked to move to another table that was empty with three chairs...wasn't allowed to do that because supposedly there was a waiting list for tables of 4??? So we held our glasses of drinks that wanted to slide off our table. Before our food came..which took a long time, they were stacking chairs and putting tables away. We ordered nachos with chicken...no chicken, hardly any cheese, but the Nachos were a pretty good size order. Onion rings were good but a small order for what you paid. We were told the wings were grilled...but when we asked waitress...she said they use to be but not anymore. May go back on Wed to try their wings for 50 cents each...but not going to be high on my list.

I like the Sea Dog. The roof deck has awesome sunset views. Beer is excellent. I wish that they offered all of their selections every day. I think the menu needs a little (not a lot) help. They have te usual pub fare - the nachos are good. Burgers are great. I'd just like to see a little more variety. Can't wait for them to reopen.

We have been going to this place with a great bay view for the last 2 years. We usually order burgers and appetizers, and those choices have been OK. Yesterday I ordered the steak tip dinner since I was especially hungry. What a disappointment! The were only 4 of them....very dry, no flavor and a mountain of french fries to fill up the plate. I asked if this was a mistake and the server said this was correct and that "it goes by ounces." YIKES...RIP OFF ..and it was $16.95... So if you want steak tips, go elsewhere. On another note, they charged us for an extra beer, so check your check when you get it.....

Solid three-star effort. It was a really busy, really HOT beach day and after a few hours of baking on the beach, a group of four of us went to find some grub. We were able to sit very quickly on arrival (around 1:00ish on a Sunday). The ambiance is fun and was enhanced with a live steel drum performer. It made the whole experience feel very tropical and Caribbean. A waitress quickly took our drink orders. I was able to grab an Apricot Wheat (bottle, not tap...bummer) and we ordered nachos to start. The nachos were a bit disappointing for me. There were a lot of them, but past the top layer...the cheese wasn't melted at all. It needed to be in the oven a little longer or they need to jack the temp up to melt the cheese through. I ordered a southwest chicken salad as my main course. Portion size was incredibly generous and I barely made a dent in it. I wouldn't mind ordering it again! All in all, a fun pit stop for me but probably not a final destination for an evening out.

Disappointing and overpriced!! I ordered the fish & chips and the fish was so soggy! Also, the waitress neglected to inform me that it would be a $2 up charge for sweet potato fries (a little pricey if you ask me) so I ended up paying $17.99 for a small and mediocre order of fish and chips. We also had an appetizer of fried pickles priced at $7.99! What a rip-off! The service was OK, but the waitress wasn't very knowledgeable about the menu items. Would not recommend and will not return.

This place is closed for the winter season, so we headed there at the end of April. Better than your average Brew Pub food, I must say. The Honey Chipotle wings were very good, although they strangely identical to Asian chili wings I've hade other places. The Southwest Salad was very good. Salad with Bar-B-Q chicken and tortilla strips on top. Some nice corn and a pile of shredded cheeses off to the side on the plate. The avocado dressing was very nice. We stuck to the Sea Dog beers even though they do have a few other "guest beers". I really enjoyed the raspberry wheat. The blueberry comes with some real blueberries in it. All places don't do that, and some people could take it or leave it. I was a little disappointed that the place was rather dusty. Not the dining surfaces, they were clean, but the other things you can just see when you look around while you eat. With the whole off season you'd think they'd have done a top-to-bottom clean, and replaced the burnt-out bulbs in the ceiling

I want to start out by saying that I joined yelp to help businesses I like. This is my first negative review. This was not my first time at the Sea Dog, yet every time ends up being awful. The view is beautiful and it is so convenient to get to, but the cons totally outweigh the pros at this point. To start, we told the hostess that we wanted to sit outside. We got a drink at the bar and waited inside (where is was about 90 degrees) to be called. After waiting 20 minutes, she took us to a seat INSIDE that had been open since we got there. This wouldn't have been a big deal if the rest of the service wasn't so awful as well. The waiter showed up 15-20 minutes after we sat so we ordered our meals and appetizer at once. He forgot our drinks more than once and ended up bringing the wrong ones anyway. Then our food came out WITHOUT the appetizer. We told him that we still wanted the nachos and so we waited awhile longer while TWO OTHER tables with the SAME WAITER got their nachos. When we got them we were pretty disappointed to see that they were chips with melted cheese and tomatoes- something that anyone can make in their microwave. In short- I have never seen a restaurant so poorly managed in my life. The food and the view are not worth the terrible service. Every time I have been results in a similarly frustrating ordeal. Don't waste your time or money.

Very small portions and overpriced. Just not a good value. I don't think we'll be back.

Great food. Beers are amazing, view of the bay is great too. The staff is friendly. Recommend joining the mug club.

This review does not cover food. Once we caught the server's eye, service was friendly and prompt. The view was great, but the place was loud (music and people) for only a few patrons in the whole place. I got a flight with 3 of their beers and one guest. Of the four, the one I liked most was one of theirs, starfish, I think...their web site doesn't mention their beer. Another indication that the beer is second thought which how I felt about the beer, they are more into the trend than crafting beer.

Just came in for dessert and a drink...great view, and a wonderful waiter. Chocolate chip ice cream sandwich was delicious! The manager, however, was as unprofessional and rude as I've ever seen. He came to our table three times, raising his voice, and accusing us of lying about being seated through the host stand. A good restaurant manager always has control of the room, and should NEVER treat a customer in such a manner. I will never patronize this establishment again, and knife others to stay away also. There are too many good places out there to waste any time or money here!

Great place to enjoy waterfront/marina views and an adult beverage! Lovely lunch location. I had the fish tacos and fried pickle chips, which totally hit the spot. Can't beat the location for the price.

Unbelievable view of the bay with the Boston Skyline in the distance! There's 4-5 stars right there. The blueberry beer with fresh blueberries floating on top was very good. Blueberries seemed fresher than the Boston Beer Works version. We were there at sunset & the 50 min to get our order was only saved by the good beer & AWESOME view! There was a party of 6 that left after their food wait was almost an hour. I ordered the Fisherman's Platter. The scallops were perfectly done. Moist with a crisp deep fry outer shell. The shrimp was a bit rubbery, & the fried haddock, well it was moist but not seasoned at all. The fries were mushy under the grease of the seafood. The Chowder was seasoned excellent but they over do the potatoes. Valet parking is for out of towners, there is enough parking up & down the side streets. Just a side note: Very Important! This small town of Hull makes much of there money in on season fines. Speeding tickets, Stop Sign violations, DUI/DWI, littering, etc. Be smart in their little peninsula. There's one way in & out of town other than a boat.

I went here for a reggae brunch. On their website they claim to have live reggae, they did not have live reggae and were playing a reggae cd which we couldn't even hear from our seats. We ordered our food and waited at least an hour for food that was pretty crappy and unmemorable. Not a fan, and will never return.

This is a fun place to go for drinks with beautiful sunsets. The food is another story, totally inconsistent and unimpressive. Stick to drinks and maybe appetizers, then go somewhere else to eat.

This was our third time to brew dogs. Understaffed and the food took more than an hour. On the plus side, It's a gorgeous view and the beer is great.

This review is actually for the Bayview Room, the function room at the Sea Dog Brew Pub, as they are not currently listed here: We have just had the pleasure of planning our May 2015 wedding and reception at the beautiful Bayview Room at the Seadog in Hull. The venue is beautiful, and requires very little additional decoration. The menu has many wonderful options, both seafood and landlubber treats for passed hors d'oeuvres, as well as large platters, and the choice of a sit-down dinner. Jen Maguire, the event coordinator, is very responsive, knowledgeable and friendly. She worked within our budget to make our dream wedding a reality! Thank you, Jen, we cant wait!!!!

Wish my friend and I had read the reviews before we decided to go here! The service was definitely atrocious. It took an hour from the time we ordered until we actually got our food. The two good things I have to say about the place are the great views and the reggae music that was happening. The food was decent. Otherwise, I'd just be giving one star. I definitely won't be going there again.

This place could be so great, but it keeps falling short even under new management. It's really a shame. As a starting point, there are few views that are better than here, especially at sunset. Always a nice breeze and you feel like you are in vacation. Next, the beer is great and mug club is a good deal. That's the good.... The first time we went this year I got terrible food poisoning due to under cooked wings. That in and if itself is rough. What made it worse is that with very few people in the restaurant on a weekday night in the spring it took forever to get served. On a recent visit it was over an hour from when we were seated until the food got there. Most of Our chicken tenders had little to no sauce on them. The waitress felt bad and brought a side sauce. That was the last we saw of her. She apologized when we paid the bill that she never checked in. More than one beer at a brewery would have been nice for me and profitable for them. The change to the flatbread and elimination of the buffalo chicken wrap are also not upgrades to the menu. I think that most of the problems here are operational. Poor communication between kitchen and servers. Cleanliness is also an issue. Our table was never wiped and the bathrooms were a disaster with overflowing trash and water everywhere. Slip hazard. We didn't have silverware despite a few requests. Increasingly complex hours if operation as the season winds up and down. They just don't seem to have a manager presence to keep the trains on the tracks. That said....the locals at the bar always seem to get timely service. They could also do with a dose of professionalism. Sloppy shirts on the servers that look tattered. The hostesses are dressed for a club not to greet you. Come for the beer and the view. Do not get the food and you'll save yourself some frustration.

The views from the third floor deck to Hingham Bay are beautiful on a sunny spring day, but a memorably terrible experience. Live music was tropical and cheerful but overly loud in the main dining area. Service is inept despite the restaurant being only half full. The manager seemed confused and lost. I needed to go to the bar to get drinks after waiting 20 minutes for any service at the table. The kitchen service is incredibly slow. It took about an hour between placing the order and receiving the food. The food is expensive and awful. Stale, old fryer oil permeates the overcooked fried seafood and fries. The chicken fingers are coated in a syrupy overly sweet sauce. The steamers are overcooked, cold and not fresh. We ate two and left the rest. The restaurant filled up quickly with a wait for tables. I witnessed some tables leaving early because of the service. Many other tables had unhappy customers. At least those on the deck could hear themselves talk and enjoy the sunshine. Finally parking is very tight. There is some street parking available but I can't imagine what it must be like in high season.

It pains me to give this place only 3 stars but they have serious operational problems that need to be addressed. First though, the place is mostly great. An awesome patio upon which you can watch the sun set over water, tasty beer, an upbeat but not rowdy vibe and generally excellent food. I'm even a member of their beer club. Their problem is operational and has been carried over from last year (they open seasonally). Last night we waited almost an hour for our order and even then part of it was wrong. They happily corrected the error, but that's a LONG time to wait for food on a Wednesday night. (The long wait happened on Mother's Day as well) They habitually bring out wrong orders, incorrect sauces (we have been served 3 different sauces with the fried pickles) and appetizers are often served at the same time as the food order (3 out of the last 4 or 5 times anyway). Patrons seem to be served at random. Another party that was there when we walked in were served after us. A different party showed up after we did and received their food before we did. There seems to be little communication between wait staff and kitchen. The wait staff never know where our order is or when it's going to arrive. There is no obvious manager on duty. And while the wait staff is generally good, they don't seem very in tune with people who are antsy at their tables. We were not the only ones. This all seems very correctable, so maybe someone from the restaurant will read this and fix these issues.

This is a great location..... That might be the only good thing going for this restaurant. Service was very slow-sat and waited for 10 minutes to be noticed. The place only had a few people in it due to it being around 4:15 pm on a Monday so I feel like we should have been noticed much sooner. Once approached by the waitress, my friend and I could barely understand her. She had very poor english..... Had trouble understanding my friend's drink order and then brought the drink back made incorrectly. I guess ordering a drink on the rocks instead of straight up was a difficult task. My drink, a Mai Thai tasted more like a Planters punch and was definitely the worst Mai Thai I have ever had. There was not even once piece of fruit-or any garnish at all in the drink. Poor presentation. Needless to say, we couldn't get out of there fast enough. One drink was enough. This place needs to get it together-it could be such a great spot to go to if the service and presentation were better.

Happy to have this [place in Hull. Great view, feels like you're on vacation. Food is passable to good. Service is awful. Too young and no idea how to engage with the public. Seated without place settings, drinks brought without napkins all of which lead to a soggy mess of a table. Forgotten appetizers, seated in a section that is not staffed and after 20 minutes and two help staff to figure out, never an apology. Request to speak to manager brought over yet another too young service person (not the manager) again, never an acknowledgment or apology. Too bad...the place has so much potential but, when you're here, you're on your own because it is being run by inexperienced and inarticulate kids and management is invisible.

  • Stacy M.

This is my favorite place, even chose to spend Mothers Day there this year. The view is fantastic, especially as the sun sets. You can get burgers, which my kids love, or seafood, which I split with my daughter. All plates were cleaned! Hope to return many times throughout the summer.

  • Jessi R.

I'm been here a few times with mixed experiences. Overall though, I really enjoy coming here; it's a pub, and you're going to get pub food. I've enjoyed every meal I've eaten here, although they are a little skimpy on the portions. The beer selection however, is great--they have the full Sea Dog line as well as a rotating selection of local craft beers, how can you go wrong? Not to mention the views of the harbor and Boston skyline. Come here for the beer and view alone!

    (4)
  • Shannon S.

Yea... what they said. The views are stunning... especially outside on the deck. On a clear day you can see the Boston skyline and if you can't, you can settle for 180+ degrees of an ocean view. But the food, well, skip it or accept that it's nothing memorable. Palatable? Sure. But not creative or incredibly interesting. I could go on for an entire paragraph telling you what they do wrong with their fish tacos, but I'll spare you. Except for this quick rant... I'd love more than 2-ounces (if that, total) of fish in my fish tacos and flour, fajita-size tortillas are just not appropriate for fish tacos. There I did it, I went on for a paragraph. Skip them. Unless you like a lot of cabbage -- they were generous with that. Oh, but why did I really come here? I like Sea Dog beer. As a native Maine-ah, I made a bi-weekly pilgrammage to the Sea Dog Brew Pub in Brunswick, Maine back before the craft beer boom that made it available in my local haunts. But I still enjoy a Blue Paw Blueberry Ale on a warm day and a Stout or Porter when I'm in-touch with my darker side. So, as it has been said before, come for the brews and views and leave your gourmet expectations at Nantasket beach.

  • Jim S.

Well, we finally tried this place. Our usual haunts in Hull are on Nantasket Ave along the beach. The view was spectacular and the beers were great. Service was fine, albeit a little slow. But that's ok it's summer and a beautiful night. All good so far. The fried clams arrive and we are a bit surprised about the extremely small portion size. The only thing smaller than the portion was the size of the tiny whole belly clams. Well, I bet they'll taste great. Nope. Cold and tough and tasted like the fry oil was overdue for a change. I know fried clams can be a bit chewy but these were nearly inedible. Just awful. You've been warned. It may have just been an off night and we will likely be back to give it another try. I really want to like this place.

I went to the Seadog for the first time this year. The staff was great and the avacado chicken sandwich was really good. The view was awesome. I'll be back...probably really soon

Like a lot of others, I have to say this place has a lot of potential but the management and staff has a long way to go. Had a terrible experience with the hostess and when I complained to a young lady who said she was in charge, we were brushed off. This place has good food with a great view, but the staff is going to be their downfall. How long does the ownership think they can by with mediocre service and poor managers.

    (2)
  • Mary B.

Food is very good, love the fish tacos, service usually good but happened to go in when it was slow, caught the bartenders eye, she said "sit anywhere", she neglected to inform the server we were there, I got up and got my own menus, caught her eye again, nothing for a long while, finally I had to tell her we were waiting, she acted surprised, "oh, where are you sitting?" She was too busy chatting up the people at the bar... Really pathetic way to treat customers.. The food and the view made up for her apathy

    (4)
  • Nancy R.

Our experience is pretty similar to everyone else. We had 1pm reservations and didn't get our food until 2:30. The server said the kitchen was backed and then proceeded to ignore our table, we watched food come by for people who sat after us. We asked to speak to a manager, he just said basically too bad the kitchen's backed up and yes its a difficult situation, no APOLOGIES, NOTHING. We understand things happen, but we were more ticked off by the way it was handled. When we finally got our food 2 out of the 6 dishes were wrong. My advice would be to eat somewhere else, then go to Sea Dog for a drink and enjoy the view because it is a pretty spot.

  • Thomas O.

Came here for a quick bite and we ordered it to go. It's been 50 min and I'm still waiting for our food. Also, no coca cola. One star for the patio though.

  • Julie F.

I'm not sure why I was expecting more from the Sea Dog, but the only reason I am giving it 3 stars, and not 2, is because the beer was good - really good. The hazelnut porter was delicious - we asked if they sell growlers to go, the waiter did not know what a growler was, but anyways, they don't sell their beer to go. After you ride up an incredibly smelly elevator to the 3rd floor of an odd somewhat-vacant building, you arrive at the Sea Dog. We went for brunch - my toddler got a burger that was TINY - yes, he's 2, but this burger was so small, he was asking for another when he was finished. However, it did come with a nice veggie medley that he enjoyed as well. I got an omelet, and it was heavily doused with peppercorn. It came with homefries that were tasty. My husband got buffalo chicken tacos, which he said were mediocre, but I didn't taste them. There was a bloody mary bar with lots of fixin's that may be worth going back for (but the beer is good, so it's hard to order a bloody mary...) and the staff was pleasant, but I can't say we'll be heading back in a hurry.

Came up on a boat on a beautiful Saturday afternoon, excited to eat and have a beer. We were disappointed by not being able to sit outside then by the fact that it's not actually a brewery (beers are brewed in Portland, ME - still local so not bad) but the killer was the service! We waited 25 minutes for a round of beers (5) and then, seeing the writing on the wall, decided to order our food to go. It then took OVER AN HOUR to get a few orders of shrimp tacos, an order of chicken fingers, and a fried fish sandwich. Had the food not been amazing (4 stars there) this would be a 1 star review.

  • Debra L.

I was pleasantly surprised by this place. The view was lovely. Staff efficient and nice. The beer was quite good and the food was decent. I liked the atmosphere. I'd definitely go back, preferably for the sunset view of Boston again. We had the blonde ale and it was a very good locally brewed ale. We liked blondes so no surprise really. The food is pub food so don't expect anything fancy. But, do expect pub food. I had been craving Buffalo wings and while these satisfied my craving, they were only ok. Good sized meaty wings, but not hot enough for me. We also had the stuffed quahogs which were really good. Stuffed with Chorizo among other things. They were large and delicious. We also shared an order of the fish & chips and it was the best thing we ate. The portion of fish was large, fresh and flaky. It was nicely fried and very crispy on the outside. The fries were also very good and plentiful. The cole slaw a bit lacking in flavor but most people don't really eat that anyway. I guess. I do, when it's good. While there I saw mention of Sunday brunch with a make your own Bloody Mary bar so that's next on my list to try. I guess the sunset will have to wait. Or, maybe I'll show up for Sunday brunch and stay until sunset?

  • Kacie D.

I have been here twice, once for lunch an once for Sunday brunch. Both times I had wonderful experiences! The food is pub food and delicious at that. Really great burgers and appetizers. The beer selection is great as well as their mixed drinks. Their Sunday "Make your own Bloody Mary Bar" seemed neat although there were not many people in the restaurant, and the people we dined with seemed to be the only ones taking advantage. Neat concept, though! The outdoor seating area has wonderful views of the ocean. This is a true hidden gem amongst the other popular eateries in the Nantasket area. A bit of a way away from the beach (you must drive to get here) but well worth it. FYI: If you like beer, they have a mug club you can join. Cheaper beers and you get to use your own mug every time you go!

Well after a few bad experiences at Seadog, they got it 100% right this time. Reservations - Table waiting when we got there (busy Sat night June 28th) Service - We had Mary, she was on top of everything all night. Food - Well, the food is average but all appetizers and meals (party of 4) were hot and timely. (pinch me I'm dreaming). Beer - Great beer! Nachos - Plenty for 4 people. Burger - Perfectly cooked pink in the middle. Chowder - Could have had more clams. Calamari - Large portion, OK taste. Mac and Cheese - Now served in mini frying pan, arrived super hot and great portion! Potato puffs - Wow, who knew they had these? Huge portion. Overall great night with bonus fireworks going on in Hingham after the meal. All of the employees seemed to be working together. Someone stepped in here and organized this staff. To them I say thank you soooo much! Give him or her a raise!! Went back again July 17th with same results, great service and food!

I rarely write reviews, but just got home from lunch here and reviewed the check. I didn't want a lobster roll - with the bread and French fries, so I asked if they could put the lobster on top of a salad. The waitress said they don't have that and asked if I wanted a side salad. I've asked for this millions of times and restaurants have always been happy to accommodate. The waitress said she'd check and came back and said they could put the lobster on a ceasar salad. Great - thanks. They charged me 9.99 for the ceasar salad which was only average and $21.99 for a lobster roll. There was a lobster roll worth of lobster on the salad - but seriously people..... The only thing this place has going for it is the location and the view. You'd be better off getting something to go at one of many, many places in the area and finding a nice spot by the water to eat at. They clearly don't care about repeat business.....

Wanted to give three and a half stars. Love brewpubs. Food is good not great, as expected. It's a pub with good prices. Have gone a number of times, always above average and that's all I ask. Never disappointed. Also, went to a wedding there. Holds 125 people maximum. Was great time and curiously enough the food was fantastic. Go figure. The more I think of it, definitely gets 4 stars.

Nasty fish tacos. The fish tacos smelled of a tuna boat on a hot summer day. They were dry and stinky. Fish shouldn't smell. The service was slow. I do not think this place is worth the trip! Truly disapointed.

This place has gotten better. Same view, better bar, food is much better. I am goijng to give it a real chance this year as it is the best view on the south shore and the people are great.

Went in for an early lunch. Unfortunately you can not sit outside if you need a high chair. The tables are too tall. Sat inside and had to ask 3 times for a high chair. The place was not busy. So we were just confused as to why it was so difficult to get a high chair. Kids hot dog and fries was very good. Husbands fish and chips was over cooked. It was like mush. I ordered the fish tacos which was just cold slaw with fried fish. It was pretty bland not a lot of flavor.

This place is in an awesome location, great views of the Boston skyline in the distance, beautiful water views of the islands, cooling sea breezes, the lot. As well as their own brews on tap they have an extensive beer list of the usual offerings, which is nice as some of these brew type places only offer their own concoctions. Nice and airy feel, clean wooden furniture, nice outside deck. Lets not spoil it by talking about the food. Ok, just a quick note on the food, only tried the fish, I figured "on the water how bad could the fish and chips be"? Answer. Horrible. Old grey wafer thin fish and the most pathetic batter I've ever seen. I know fish and chips, and I know this, the tinkers son in Norwell is the king around here, the gauntlet is thrown, anyone want to pick it up?! Other people around me got burgers and flat bread pizza which all looked decent, as did the mussels. This is still a nice watering hole, I read on other reviews that the service was not that good, got to be honest we sat at the bar, so we didn't really have a problem, there seemed to be plenty of servers, all very young, even the hostess/manager looked very young, but they seemed to be doing ok. Worth a stop in for a brew and an app, but head somewhere else for dinner.

Five stars for the location and view. Best sunsets on the South Shore. The manager has assured me that he's aware of the issues that have caused some of the negative comments. I'll give the benefit of the doubt and look forward to the re/opening in the spring.

Sunset is unreal- definitely one of the best views in the south shore! I'm not sure why there are bad reviews because every time I've been here its been great! Obviously sunday brunch people wait a little longer for food because the place is packed but who cares? Its sunday people relax and have a bloody mary!! Delicious food, amazing view and friendly staff! Definitely recommend this place!

Really, they haven't even been trying lately with the food. Again, view is amazing- the food had been passable, but summer of 2014, food has been awful every time and service a mixed bag.

Great place to hang out with friends and drink. they have a great view of the Bay in hull amazing sunset, the staff if fun and energetic. Love the fish tacos and the drinks are spot on.

Horrible service, shitty music, was definitely one of the youngest there by at least 10 years (I'm 18 so that doesn't really say much). The place sounded aggressively average but it was below average. No napkins for the drinks when the water starts to condensate at the bottom of the cups. Took forever to get noticed and to get food. Got the pancakes and they were average. First and probably last time I would go to the place.

Went here late-august for a pre-wedding family dinner during my FIRST visit to New England. Here is how my experience went... Atmosphere: Great view from the inside out on the (hah-bah). We had a large table in the middle of the dining room, which was great, smack down right next to the bar. Was not bad not much to complain about. Got to see the sunset beautifully and was able to see Boston city outline, defintly a worthy view. Food: Not a good selection of food at all. SOO MUCH FRIED FOODS (YUCK!) Would be nice if you guys can bring in some healthy food selections as well as seafood. The fried clams were to die for. Really fluffy batter and delicious! As well as the calamari was of my TOP 5! Thats a bold statement coming from a California girl like myself ;) Service: The service was by far the worst. Actually the reason I had to take atleast 1 star off for. Sucks we had to tip her good, since we had a party over 8, we were automatically charged a 17% gratiuity (BUMMER!) We waited atleast 15 minutes for our check while our server was crowded around the bar socializing with the other servers. NOT COOL! Beer: Some of the best beer I have had. I still dream about the Blueberry Beer with fresh blueberries floating on top. You have to try the Pumpkin-Spice Beer, it was literally like a dessert! All in all it was a OK experience. Probably the better of the restaurants in Hull, MA but not the worst either from what I experienced during my visit to MA.
