The bagel inn is my absolutely favorite place. I am a bagel fanatic and whenever I am away from home I miss it. It has a small town feel with absolutely amazing bagels in a huge variety of favors. The apricot cream cheese is to die for. The people working there are always friendly and you will never be disappointed with either iced or hot coffee. I come here at least once a week and I will miss it dearly when I move away. An absolute must visit when in the area!

Bagels are just OK. Would be better without a side of attitude from the owner. He gets mad if you ask for your bagel toasted because he says his bagels are too good for that. Not great customer service at all.

The owner, John, is a very nice friendly man, but the other older guy who works there is a miserable surly SOB-- I'm going to assume he's either the co-owner or John's brother because there is NO reason to keep this sorry sack on the payroll. But regardless, the bagels are authentic but that's as far as it goes. The eggs are microwaved and if you draw the short straw and get JImmy Cranky Pants waiting on you be prepared if you are not a townie to get rude service, an egg with cheese that must seem better to him if it's not actually melted OR on the sandwich and the delight of starting your morning with a snarl. The bagels are authentic yes, but that's as far as it goes. The coffee is mediocre and the lack of an actual grill means you're basically eating at a morning Subway (not a compliment). Those of you giving this place 4+ stars need to get out more. Overpriced, undercooked and you can find "real" bagels in plenty of other places.

Freshest bagels around. Specialty cream cheeses are delicious. My favorite is the scallion/bacon but they have so many other flavors. Bagel sandwiches are huge and you can add on a variety of veggies/extras. Hazelnut coffee is my absolute favorite.. Hazelnut is roasted right into the coffee instead of just a syrup. All around, love this place. Service is always friendly. Some of the items are a bit over priced but it doesn't deter us from going every Sunday morning!

Been coming for years and have always loved their bagels, sandwiches and service. Try the bagel bread. SO good!

My friend who lives in the area often raves about the Bagel Inn so I figured I would stop by if I found myself close-by! They have a great selection of bagels. Very unique flavors like Swedish Cardamom (which is absolutely delicious) and apple crunch. It was hard to choose just a few to take home and 1 to try at the eatery. I ended up getting a cheddar cheese with veggie cream cheese and tomatoes. It was good, although a bit pricy compared to my local bagel place. My partner got a lox bagel, and similarly high priced, but he loved it. We tried the holiday blend coffee (meh, too much cinnamon) and got a spread (apricot! yum) and bagels to go. I'd definitely return, and I can see why it's so popular. The line was huge as we left, and even when no one was before us it seemed to take a bit to get the food. I'm a sucker for bagels though so I went away quite happy!

I noticed that a lot of earlier reviews had issues with the service they received. It seems to me that this issue has been resolved, as everyone I interacted with yesterday was nothing but sweet and professional. All of the servers wore gloves, they followed my order to a T, and offered me my bagel with a smile. That said -- onto the food. I had a honey wheat bagel, toasted, with the scallion and bacon cream cheese on the side. I was hesitant to order cream cheese because I am very much a buttered bagel girl. I'm from the Midwest and the cream cheese you get tends to be the Philadelphia brand or nothing. Bagel Inn's cream cheese is a revelation. I can't believe I've lived in New England for so long thinking the cream cheese out here would be the same old stuff back home. Do it. You won't be sorry. Although I could've eaten that bagel plain and been more than satisfied. Tasty!

I really like the bagels here, but I am writing this review because of the service I have been recieving lately at The Bagel Inn. The past few times I have been here the young girls working have been less than friendly and downright rude at times. I was here with my boyfriend's sister a few months ago. She gave her order clearly asking for a toasted bagel. The server started to put cream cheese on the bagel without toasting it, when we pointed it out to the server she rolled her eyes and over dramatically threw the bagel in the trash. Once the new bagel was toasted, she decided to put hardly any cream cheese on it. When my boyfriends sister asked for more cream cheese she gave so much attitude it wasn't even funny. The last time I went here the girl assisting me did not even wear gloves!!!!!!!! After making my bagel, she continued to take my payment and handle cash. If you go here please make sure your server is wearing gloves and is being sanitary. The bagels here are excellent! My favorite is the spinach and dill bagel.

I'm feeling generous. I think The Bagel Inn deserves 4 stars - looks like this place gets mixed reviews. Whenever I'm craving a fancy chicken salad on a bagel, I think of The Bagel Inn. The chicken is moist and the mayo is not overpowering. I also appreciate the little bits of fruit in the chicken salad. The Bagel Inn is kind of a sleeper nestled in Holden. The interior is much larger than the outside appears. I found the service to be fast and accurate.

Whenever I get a bagel somewhere I compare it to the Bagel Inn because I have yet to find a place with bagels and cream cheeses that can compete. I love the veggie lite and berry cream cheeses the best. Sandwiches are also great---the plain chicken salad is delicious as are the choices of side salads (pasta, potato, and bean). Love the pickle spear on the side too!

City restaurants can't compare to Bagel Inn. It's almost embarrassing to say that I spent almost every Sunday here for 3 straight years (while I lived near Holden). Though sadly I don't return as often as I'd like, it still remains my favorite breakfast spot. There is a bagel flavor for every taste, from the classic poppy seed to the more adventurous french toast. The cream cheeses are also fresh and flavorful; plus, I love that there are a number of lighter options. I can't say as much for the rest of the menu (since I'm one of those "usuals" who gets the same exact bagel, every time). All I know is that I love Bagel Inn so much, I'm getting hungry just writing this review.

The Bagel inn has great bagels. Actually I like all of the food here. The only problem is the guy is a jerk. He is the bagel nazi. You dont have to wow me with charm but come on maybe a little service with a smile. The other employees who are mostly young girls in high school are all very nice.

I am from NJ and the bagels just don't measure up. Only place in town that makes them though so I will have to deal. I do wish someone mad a good salt bagel though as the other reviewer pointed out. Coffee is terrible too...tastes like dirty water.

A friend has been telling me about this place for weeks. I go to school in the area but live in Dorchester. I was happy to get out of school early so I could pick up this bagel bread that my friend has been raving about. Walked in an everyone was super friendly and I felt good being there. I ordered a loaf of the bagel bread and a salt bagel to go. I started eating my bagel on the way to the car and immediately turned back to go get more to bring home. It seems from some of the reviews below that people were not that happy with the Salt bagels but I loved it. The dough was nice and soft in the center and the outside of the bagel had this thin light crisp to it. This afternoon at home I decided to make a grilled cheese w/turkey with my sliced bagel bread and it was one of the best sandwiches I ever made. The bread made it perfect. I don't know if they have the best bagels around as I do not eat a ton of bagels from all over but they were very tasty and the staff was great. I went to The Bagel Inn during a slow hour so I had time to browse the menu and chat with the staff. I can see how this place can easily turn crazy during peak times. If you decide to go during a breakfast or lunch rush I recommend having an idea of what you may want to get so that you can get the most out of your visit at the Inn.

My mother passed away and we decided to order a catering at The Bagel Inn for after the funeral because our mother had used them when our brother passed away in 2007. A man named Jim sat down with me and went over what we would want to order and for how many people etc. He actually told us not to order so much and he gave me exactly what we wanted. He even was very helpful a few days later when I needed to make changes. He made me feel like a valued customer. The food was delivered on time and came with all the paper goods and serving spoons. Everyone who came back to the house raved about the salads and the bagels and the fruit bowls. We didn't order meat platters just tuna and egg salad sandwiches. We had them pre-made and we also got lox and bagels. Everything was set up beautifully and everyone enjoyed the food. We even had enough leftover for visitors the next day. I cannot thank them enough for helping us through a really difficult time. I would recommend the catering to anyone.

I love this place. They are priced reasonably and the girls who work there are just a pleasure. My favortive thing here is turkey sandwich with avavado, lettuce, and tomato. The pasta salad is good, the side is just really really small. The sandwich and side is under $7. Good location in Holden. Give them a try!

Every establishment should make you feel welcome - this place does not. "Yeah, what can I get you?" "Oh, you wanted it toasted?: "Why didn't you say you were eating here?" If this is the way they treat you - why would you go back? WE WILL NOT!

Maybe I'm biased from coming here so long, but these are the best bagels around. High quality, fresh, and a great selection, they're large and tasty. Their cream cheese is also delicious. I honestly love just a plain bagel with plain cream cheese from this place, but I enjoy the others including blueberry and cinnamon raisin. Extra star for having some of the best chicken salad I've ever eaten, love it on a plain bagel with a side of pasta salad. So good.

It's not very often that I feel compelled to Yelp about places in the middle of nowhere, but I'm making my first exception. I worked on a project right around the corner from this place last winter and would hit them up for lunch nearly every day. Their sandwiches were okay, but the soups and bagels are where it's at. A bowl of soup is around $5, but it eats like a meal and you can substitute a bagel for crackers. Talk about flavor variety and originality: where else have you seen bagel flavors like Cheddar? Marble? Sunflower Seed? Swedish Cardamom?!? Spinach Dill?!? They also have 5 different homemade soups available everyday, my faves being the Chicken Chili and Carrot Ginger, which is simply amazing (words cannot express my love for that soup).. Next time you find yourself near one of these joints, do yourself a favor and stop in for a bite.

The menu is a tad confusing...is it not. The bagels are good but really?....its like a subway with bagels??? I just dont get it.

My home town bagel shop. Most Sunday mornings you can find my parents there so you know it has to be good. And it is. Nice selection of bagels, coffee, and great sandwiches for lunch time with tasty bagel chips. There's also a West Boylston location. Parking can be a bit tight especially without that first cup of coffee. My favorite bagels there include blueberry, sourdough, marble, and honey wheat. Come to think of it I've never had a bad bagel there.
