Came in on a Thursday for drinks and dessert. No seats at the bar but they sat us at a high top near the bar and music. Guy singing was awesome! Wasn't to loud and he improvised a bit which was fun! Had mixed drinks that were good. Waitress was very nice and prompt. Dessert: French Toast Bread Pudding sitting on a sweet sauce and a piece of caramelized BACON. I always wondered why people messed with bacon, cause bacon is awesome on its own. Now I know, cause that bacon was amazing! Could only eat a bit of the dessert (was still a bit full from dinner and trying my friends dessert) but it was very good! Apple crisp came in a skillet. The apples were perfect and the crunchy oaty topping with a scoop of ice cream enhanced the texture and flavor. Will have to go back for a real meal!

Highlights: The atmosphere and rosemary bread is what keeps me coming back to 15 Walnut. Oh yeah and the Kentucky Burbon Barrel Ale that they have on draft :). The large wooden booths make for a cosy space to enjoy a nice dinner. The service is mediocre at best-- I have had two nice servers in the last four years. The food is overpriced for the size and quality. They boast in including local ingredients, but the flavors just miss the mark. The burgers and mussels are delicious, though! It's a local staple, and the OpenTable.com and Serendipity points are incentive to keep going back.

My Gf made reservation for 7. We got there early, no prob. Service at all the Serenitee restaurants I've been to has been great. We were seated. It's a large space with a large bar. Some great living room chairs.Our server Jerelyn was great. She made a suggestion on a cocktail for my GF and kept my beer and our waters full. I got the Dragon roll for an app. It was presented beautiful and was very tasty. Veg. inside were fresh and crunchy. Planned on taking half home but ate it all. Gf got the steak tips. I got the burger of coarse. Med. rare. Came out perfectly cooked. As well as the tips. I got the seaweed salad as a side. Everyone should taste this. A different texture and mouth feel than your use to but very addictive. overall a great experience. We will be back.

It is a local bistro, as the name says. Well really more of a local bar and grill. Upscale, but still that's really all it is. The food was good, but not great. The service was adequate. If I lived in the area I'd probably give it another try, but overall I was neither impressed, nor terribly disappointed.

You can't tell from the outside, but this casual yet classy bar and restaurant is a real find. The decor and lighting are relaxing and clean. We were not hungry enough to try the interesting appetizers and small plates, so we went right for the entrees. My husband (the beer critic) loves the draft selections here. We had steak tips cooked perfectly and enjoyed the light, flavorful vinaigrette on the side salad. We really liked the pepper mill which delivered a nice, course grind. Jerilyn, our server did a very nice job, with the right amount of checking in. Nice and relaxing!

Was passing through the area and came here based on Yelp reviews. Nice atmosphere with very manageable noise level. We were able to easily find seats at the bar on a Thurs eve at 7:30 (but in the summer). Attentive, friendly and accommodating bartenders. Hearty portions of fresh and well-prepared food . We ordered from the bar menu: fried calamari (nicely breaded, delicate and crunchy), bratwurst meatballs with mini pretzels (a hit with my husband), fried green tomatoes with perfectly crisp green beans and arugula in mustard vinegarette, and char-roasted broccoli with cheese curds & spicy creme fraiche. Live acoustic music at perfect volume. Will definitely return if we find ourselves in the area again.

My husband, daughter and I had dinner there last night. We had the tuna tartare, burger and pulled pork; my daughter had the haddock kids meal. Food was good, but the service was what made our dining experience excellent. Our daughter is 17 mo., and they were very accommodating! We would definitely come back!

Well, this is disappointing. We come here frequently, and I've written good reviews in the past, so this is going to be difficult! The last visit some weeks ago involved a pizza with a crust that was WAY too thick and not at all like the pizzas we've had here before....and inedible. Today's visit included a pancake that was more cake than pancake. It was maybe 1.5 inches thick and was obviously baked in one of their cast iron skillets that they use. I love whipped cream even more than the next person, but this was enough whipped cream to sink a battleship! No cholesterol labs for me tomorrow! It was my husband's suggestion that, if this is a pancake that is offered, they need to offer both this and a traditional style pancake, so that one has a choice. Pancakes are a classic brunch staple and while I am innovative in my tastes, I want a traditional pancake. Seriously, people...,what have you done to your menu? After years of coming here, we've had 2 misses in 2 visits. I will give it one more try and then they will have lost customers. They admitted at the last visit that they had changed their menu (possibly read chef?), but they have ruined a good thing! Sorry, but I no longer recommend 15 Walnut!

This place changes their menu just enough with the seasons to keep things new. Everything is always fresh and I have NEVER had a bad food experience here in the past three years that I've been going. If you know their little secrets ( restaurant.com coupons and rocking buffalo wings that aren't on the menu most of the time) then you have an even BETTER experience. My husband and I love trying new stuff so there is no shortage of that here. You do need reservations but they aren't hard to come by. Plan ahead and have a GREAT dinner! Its not an ideal place for kids, but their kids menu does not lack in awesome food and they do have little toys and stuff to entertain them while you all enjoy the food. Try it out!

15 Walnut is one of my fave go to places to eat. I live on the North Shore, a regular here and at Opus in Salem, both run by the same restauranteur group. I have to say I think I like the food better at 15 Walnut. Just my personal taste. Cozy atmosphere, great wine list, great appys, I've never been disappointed. And they do a fantastic job with risottos!!! Always perfect! Might be a little pricey compared to other places, but the food is great and they do offer Groupons and Living Social deals frequently.

Went to 15 Walnut last weekend. The food and drinks were great. I am a Serenitee rewards card member and always like the restaurants, but 15 Walnut might be my new favorite. The menu was reminiscent of the old Alchemy menu--good variety of apps/small plates and great specials. Our server was well-informed of the food on the menu and did a great job!

First visit 3/14/2014. Excellent menu choices for all palates. We started with the carrot ginger soup & chowder. Both were presented well and tasted excellent. Following soup, we tried the sushi which was fresh and had a fun presentation on a long serving dish. For entrees we chose the baked haddock and gnocci's. The haddock was fresh and cooked perfectly. The gnocci's were so tasty! They arrived with a nice amount of fresh veggies mixed in with the pasta and were seasoned just right! Very happy with our first visit! Meat and veggie lovers will enjoy this eatery!

We go here once every other month or so, and the food has always been good. A bit pricey but the service is excellent and the atmosphere is pleasant. We usually sit at the bar, lots of seats. The other night I had the pulled pork on brioche sandwich and my wife had the sashimi and a cappuccino. Both were very good.

We went right to entrees without appetizers and had all we could handle - steak tips/steak cooked perfectly & the chicken & chestnut meatballs were comfortable & delicious - truly wonderful. Great service by our very friendly waitress. (Jenn) Tried the julep bite and it was very yummy! The clam chowder is great! Also the fig appetizer was to die for! The only thing I would mention is that the main course took a little longer than I'm used to. Nevertheless the dishes were good.

Just had dinner here, and it was mostly good. The service was great, and it didn't take long for the food to show up. However, we ordered the loaded nachos for a starter and this is where I have a problem. The nachos were great, until I tasted the guacamole. It tasted like it was fizzy, and I was quite perplexed by that taste. My initial guess was that it was off, but we ate it anyway and investigated the strange taste when we got home. Typically guacamole with this taste means that it has been sitting in a steel bin for a while and is old. The reason that I have such an issue with being served old guacamole is because the restaurants tagline is: "Local, Fresh, and Made from Scratch". That is a very high bar that the restaurant set for itself, and I feel like with the food I was given did not meet that standard. It also makes me wonder about the integrity of the rest of the food as well. What other corners are being taken? Two stars and won't return. Restaurants, like this, need to learn to market themselves accurately. If you are going to cut corners, fine, but don't misrepresent yourself to get me to come eat here.

Tonight we took three French guests (chaperones of a school exchange) to dinner, and 15 Walnut was wonderful. We opened with a tapas plate (chick peas, olives, hummus, and mushrooms) and then on a recommendation by the server, Monica, we all had a new item on the menu: Braised Pork Shank with red cabbage and butternut squash puree. It was one of the most beautifully presented and delicious entrees I have had in a long time. We shared some desserts - chocolate chip cookie in cast iron, apple crisp, and creme brulée - and they were excellent. To drink, the reliable 14 Hands Cabernet Sauvignon.

Went here a few nights ago and everything was very good. The cheese plate came with a great wedge of brie and Vermont cheddar paired with dried cranberries and candied walnuts and the flavor combo was out of this world. They have great beer selection whether bottle or draft at a decent price. The Menu had good variation too whether want seafood or a vegetarian dish. Also they took a reservation for 2 so that was convenient to say the least. Only reason for 4 stars opposed to 5 is its very very dim inside.

I just wanted to say thank you for an amazing dinner I had last night. I came in with two friends and we were all floored by not only the fantastic food and perfectly crafted drinks, but the service we received was top notch. As someone who works in the F&B industry, I know it is not always easy to deal with a packed house. The restaurant was so busy when we walked in. We were seated quickly, even without having a reservation. Our waitress was Katie M and I cannot say enough about the service we received from her. She was personable and warm; keeping us entertained all night! Her service was really a cut above what you normally receive at any restaurant. Our drinks were perfect (the Moscow mule & spiced margarita) and our food was cooked perfectly. Overall, it was a perfect experience from start to finish. I cannot wait to go back, and this is largely due to the amazing service we received.

After a day of exploring the many extraordinary farm stands in the area, we were in the mood for a really fresh meal. 15 Walnut delivered! Not too crowded at 6:30 on a Friday night, we were able to get a nice table for two in their back dining room, away from the bar/tv sets. This place has a nice atmosphere overall - cozy and relaxed with a few different seating sections to suite anyone's fancy, whether you want to watch a game at the bar or have an intimate conversation over your meal. Their menu is filled with wonderful seafood options - we split the crab cakes appetizer which were phenomenal (not overwhelmed by cheese/bread crumbs/etc) and then the day boat scallops with shrimp and saffron risotto. The scallops were fresh and cooked perfectly. We also split a side of mashed sweet potatoes which were good, no great, and the gazpacho with a dollop of avocado ice cream - a nice touch! Along with the friendly service and a 1/2 off groupon, this was a wonderful spot.

A so-so restaurant that should think about stepping up its game a bit. There is precious little on the menu which would have been fine but for the fact that the food is, in a word, bland. Don't boast about freshness when the rolls being served were either a day old or poorly stored...they tasted like rubber. A pretty extensive cocktail menu but very few beer choices. There is no way, even in Hamilton , that the "locals" are guzzling down Cosmos all night! There are too many great food choices on the north shore for this place to last without some improvements.

I have been here several times now and the food is always really good. I appreciate that they change the menu frequently especially compared to other restaurants that never do. The service kind of depends on who you get but last time (wish I could remember her name) the girl we had was really good, no problems at all. I went Friday night and had: Salad special - local goat cheese, zucchini, fried squash blossom - delish App - Fallafel - perfect Entree - Shrimp Scampi half portion, just the right amount as I was saving room for dessert - very good Dessert - Key Lime Tart - again, very good, reminded me of The Pie Guy's Key Lime Pie only in tart form Husband had the Chorizo & Melted Poblano Fondue - he's still telling me how much he liked it 15 walnut burger peanut butter something or other for dessert that he definitely enjoyed No complaints! Try it out :)

This place is a great little gem in South Hamilton. We came recently for Easter brunch with my brother, mom and kids. The decor is great, especially for being part of a strip mall. They had a diverse menu without being overloaded. I ended up with the Farmhouse Breakfast Buritto. It had a crispy exterior and a mix of eggs, cheese, pico and cheese inside. Nice pico garnish across the top with a healthy serving of fresh guac. 5 people for $81 dollars spells big value in my book. We will be back.

Not everything it should be. We had an 'OK' meal but service was spotty at best. We had to ask to place our order, asked for bread which was somehow being served at other tables and but never made it to ours even after our request. Annoying. We really like bread with our salad but it was not to be. Wine glasses sat empty, table set ups (fork, knife, spoon!) not replaced after appetizer course. I hate going out and having to flag down service...we cook at home 6 nights a week and relish going out for 'chefs night off'. Nothing worse than wondering 'where's our waiter, where is our bread, where is the silverware...?' We were being overlooked by our waitperson while they were doting on larger tables. White wine with apppetizer was about room temp - not what I expected. I get that booze is a profit point for the industry but a short pour ($14) for a below average red is ballsy. . Had unremarkable steak tips which were inconsistent - some overdone and chewy while others were not. Was too hungry to send it back and I hate doing that anyway. My companion's meal was very good however. The traffic in Hamilton apparently tolerates pub food at pretty high prices - two mains, salad and two glasses of wine with tip: $120. Will go back for burger - which on a prior visit was excellent - and a beer or two which would be a better value, around $30 at the bar and also will take in a game on the huge TV. This place could and should be a notch above.

Nice setting, open atmosphere, and the food was decent. My big complaint is how over priced it is. $10 for the cheapest glass of wine..and all the entrees were way over priced. If this was in Boston or a 3 or 4 star restaurant I would understand..but it is just a local hang out. They get away with it because it is a small town with wealthy people. Next time..I'll just drive 4 miles and go to Not Your Average Joe's.. similar and a heck of a lot cheaper.

Don't let the strip mall exterior turn you away as it did us for many years - once you walk in, you're in a different world - well done interior, great bar, booths - my husband called it trendy rustic with great paintings. Typical Cala's coolness. Our server, Darren, was fantastic. Very knowledgeable, took great care of us and wasn't afraid to make recommendations - all of which we tried & loved. The Spicy Crunchy Tuna roll was really delicious - our favorite of the night. My husband does not like Cala's style sushi, feels the rolls are too fancy/over the top, so he agreed to sharing with the expectation that he wouldn't like it or be eating it. Even he loved it! We were a little skeptical with wrapped in rice paper, but that was really delicious, as was the wasabi. We would come back for the sushi alone! For our entries - we had the baked haddock (sides we selected were whipped potatoes and mac & cheese - odd choices, yes, but I picked one & my husband the other) & the seared tuna special. While both were really quite tasty, I had to say that both plates/presentations were a little 'odd'. The haddock looked like a scrawny piece of fish with a cup of mac & cheese on the place. & a large dollop of whipped potatoes. BUT we loved it - The mac & cheese was INCREDIBLE. After making fun of my husband for choosing it, I have to admit that I would strongly recommend that you order as one of your sides with whatever you order - penne pasta with delicious cheese (maybe asiago and a cheddar?) The potatoes are nothing to write about. The breading on the fish was light which at first I didn't like as I was expecting more flavor, but fish was surprisingly tasty. The tuna was perfectly seared with a sesame coating, a great piece of fish with an odd cut. There were two pieces of tuna, one of the pieces was quite thick, cut in the shape of a pyramid/wedge. It was difficult to figure out how to cut it and like that you needed a knife. The tuna was served with a burgundy sauce which we felt was too heavy for the tuna. We asked for wasabi, which Darren happily got for us, and it made all the difference in the meal. Tuna served with fresh tomatos - yellow, orange and red - amazing. We will return...

We go to 15 Walnut probably once a month and have never had a bad experience. Definitely my favorite of all the Serenitee restaurants. The decor is funky and fun (love the artwork), the staff is friendly and attentive, the food is always delicious, the draft beer selection is great. We'll keep going back!

This is our FAVORITE local spot. We go for every anniversary, special occasion, and date night. They are outstanding with their customer service. The manager is extremely helpful with Gluten & Dairy allergies. Great, romantic atmosphere. Highly recommend it. One sad note, they took the Local Roasted Chicken and Fingerling Potatoes off the menu which was what we redeemer every time. Hope they bring it back. Check them out, you won't be disappointed.

I'm really glad that I've gone back since the renovations!! The restaurant is bigger, and has a clean, rustic feel now. I was impressed by the private dining area too for small parties.... good to know they have a curtain that you can block off the area! As for the food, they have used what seemed to be just local, fresh ingredients which is huge. We started off with an appetizer of fried chickpeas, soup, followed by a vegetable gnocchi dish. It was absolutely delicious! Cooked perfectly. Lots of more vegetarian items than last time!!! The drinks are fun too... Shout out to Matt the bartender for making great cocktails! I will definitely be back with friends. Keep up the good work :)

Overall, I thought this restaurant was a little pricey for what it offered. That being said, everything was delicious and our waitress was extremely accommodating and friendly. We split the cheese plate, which was very good. I ordered a vegetarian sushi roll, which was good but overpriced, and a salad, which was delicious. We did have a groupon for this restaurant, so the bill was a little more forgiving than normal. Truthfully, I don't know if we'd be back in a rush just because of the prices.

I was excited to try 15 Walnut after having great experiences at Alchemy and Hale St, but unfortunately it left me a little underwhelmed. Our waitress was great, and the atmosphere was very lively for happy hour timing. The food was sub-par though. We had the antipasto with proscuitto, goat cheese, fried chick peas, and the artichoke fondue. Everything was pretty good, but nothing blew me away. The chick peas were the best part of the plate. We had the NY pizza, and the toppings were good, but the crust wasn't firm enough to hold them all. We also shared the brussels sprouts, and they seemed undercooked. They were too crunchy, which took away from the delicious bacon and pomegranate accompanying the dish. Overall, I think this would be a great place to stop for some apps after work at the bar, but I am not sure I'd come out of my way again. I much prefer alchemy and hale street.

We had the tuna entree as well as a very large sirloin. Tuna was nicely prepared and tasted good though it could have used a little more salt. Rice was a little too room temp so too was the bok choy. The sirloin steak was perfectly med-rare and quite tasty. Side dish of carrots and twice mashed potatoes also very good. On the negative - the bread was tasteless and the olive oil dip was below par. Service is very friendly and the ambience is nice.

Brunch with friends was delicious. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Perfect actually. Eggs Benedict was cooked precisely as ordered. When i got there at 1130am, it was too early to be served a bloody Mary, but the server remembered, and asked me if I still wanted one, at 12, noon...Great service! We WILL go back. There is actually a $20 for $10 deal on Yelp sometimes.

My boyfriend and I had our first date here. It was a ... decent ... experience. Some good food, some okay food, and really terrible service. Despite this, we decided to go back for our anniversary. This time, it was even worse. After being greeted by our server, who seemed nice enough, we asked to have the candle on our table lit. Never happened. We split the polenta appetizer which was quite good. That was the only high point. My boyfriend is a wine connoisseur and had picked out two glasses that would pair with our meals - which took about 20 minutes to come out. But looking all around the restaurant, our server was nowhere to be found. When the HOST finally brought our meals, we still had not seen our server. I asked her to find him because we wanted to order some wine. I got their "vegetarian special" - a mix of vegetables and quinoa in a hollowed out squash. It was less then spectacular. My boyfriend had the grilled pork which he found tough and overly spiced. After clearing our plates, our server immediately brought over our check. Um, we'd like to see the dessert menu please.... When we finally left, the restaurant was a ghost town and there were no employees in sight to say thanks for dining with us. PS - As we were leaving, we noticed the line cooks munching away on their own food behind the line. Hmmmmm

Enjoyed a delightful dinner yesterday with a friend in what we would never have been drawn to by driving past. The interior, however, of 15 Walnut has ambience, is well laid out and the staff - well - some of the best I've experienced. In particular our server, Michael, was helpful, focused, had natural sense of humor, graciousness and properly attentive. As for order - my friend and I like to share so as to try various dishes - without asking was served divided already. And the food - ah, the food. The shrimp and spicy tuna sushi roll was excellent. The Caesar salad (with anchovies - fresh no less) was perfectly dressed. Although I am not a fan of sweet barbeque sauce (preferring savory) the pulled pork sandwich which came with tasty fries (or salad) was very good. The whole experience amounts to "will be going back." Cannot give a 5 star rating until I have been to a place more than once. Soon, however, soon.

This restaurant is a lot better than the one across the street named Black Cow. The food is better, service is better and there is actually a huge parking lot so parking is always available. You can also go grocery shopping, banking, dry cleaning prior or after your meal which is very convenient.

Excellent food, but very high prices for a strip mall joint, and so incredibly noisy we couldn't even talk. The bar is in the center of the dining room and they seemed to be having a riotously good time. Our waiter moved us to an exterior and slightly less noisy table where we could huddle, heads together, for a conversation.

My husband came upon a Groupon for this establishment a couple of years ago and gave it a try. . . we've been loyal customers ever since. We go out a couple of times a month and this is our preferred restaurant because of its fresh and delicious food. We've never had a bad meal and have settled on a few favorites that we get every time. The staff is great, the ambience is relaxing and the portions are just right. You can't go wrong with a visit to 15 Walnut!

Awesome place to eat. Modern mixed with traditional and local feel. The bar is split halfway, with one side modern and one traditional and more old-fashioned. Sometimes gets very noisy - events or weekend evenings. Food is super fresh and the menu rotates every few months. Always a wall featuring local artwork. Extensive bar with occasional rotation beers on tap. Have tried many of their dishes and all are good - pizza, fish, beef, chicken, salads etc. Only once in a dozen+ seatings have I not been consistently wowed by all the food, and that was only one dish in that meal.

ingredients were incredibly fresh as advertised! i asked for parmesan cheese to go with the complimentary bread and olive oil dip, i expected cheap grated parmesan, instead i got freshly shredded ones. fresh local beets were very flavorful. main entree was braised short ribs, served hot and tender. sauce was not overpowering. the whipped potatoes had just the right amount of butter and seasoning, spinach was fresh and didn't leave a bad aftertaste, gorgonzola sauce was light and went really well with everything else.

"Consistent Experience: Poor Service and Poor Food" As the title says, the experience was consistent -- the service and the food were not great (but the company was very good, so we laughed). The service took a hit walking in the door (it's the opposite of "you had me at 'hello'"). We were about 10 minutes late, our friend apologized as he gave our name, and, in an admonishing tone, the greater said, "Oh, I was just about to call you." We looked at each other in shock. The place was clean and nice. It was very loud, but that was okay. The server came quickly and was very attentive at the beginning. The menu was fun. There were many choices that were not your standard fair. I was very hopeful. Not being terribly hungry, I ordered their hamburger with onion rings (think gourmet version). The waiter recommended a wine that was quite tasty. That was the "tasty" high point. The meals came, and the burger looked good. I cut into it, and it was still moving past medium rare. I knew we were in for bigger trouble when I saw how greasy the onion rings were. They looked like they were fried in a tempura batter, and they were bland and greasy. The burger came with no lettuce, onion, etc. There were also no condiments. The burger was just blah. For a $14 burger, I expect a lot more. Now comes the 2nd poor customer service experience. As the server is taking away our dishes, my friend calls my name, and the server stops and says in a very irritated voice, "No, my name is D*****." My friend responded he was talking to me. It shouldn't matter if my friend was talking to the server and used his wrong name. Either way, we were all stunned. An then, the server was very inattentive, and it was very difficult to get him back to the table get our bill and run it. My wife said her dinner was blah and that my onion rings were bad. Bottom line: poor service + poor food + expensive = fail!

This place keeps getting better . When I left this time, I left feeling 5 star. When I went there a few weeks ago, I was treated to some amazing house made charcuterie, inspired soups - the ricotta appetizer left the 3 of us at the table fighting over the last bite, and some really outstanding organic wine. Both apps and entrees feature local and/or organic fare, and I find that as they settle in, the cuisine becomes more and more creative. The service was friendly, competent and knowledgeable. I look forward to going back here again soon - and not having to run out for another engagement as I did. I could have sat there ordering appetizers and wine for another couple of hours.

Went here this morning with some friends for the monthly "Breakfast club" brunch club I organize. Food was great as was the service. Nice balanced menu for breakfast and lunch items. Prices were very reasonable I thought for being in Hamilton. Staff was VERY Friendly! I wish I remembered our waitress's name! She was great. I will go back for dinner for sure. I got the rachero skilet- which was with two eggs and chorizo, onion's peppers and something else. Came with a side of home fries and fresh fruit which was nice instead of the toast. I love toast but its nice that they do fresh fruit! A couple others got the skillet dishes, one got a breakfast burrito (the hubby- which he devoured), one got the tips, which came with two sides, one got the pork nachos as an "entree" and lastly one got the pulled pork wrap. Size of portions was great- not over the top and not small.

I went in about a week ago with my husband and two teens. My son has a couple of earrings and my daughter happened to be sporting some red and blue hair coloring in the back of her long hair (hey - at least she's patriotic!). The reception we received by both the host and our waiter was a bit bothersome to us. It wasn't downright rude per se, but there was clearly an undertone of "we know you're not Hamilton stock". I didn't really like that. I would be willing to bet if I was there with two friends after work, we would not have had the same treatment. The food. Well, aside from the above, I wouldn't bring kids to this place. The menu is a bit too eclectic for them. I did enjoy the soup - sweet potato with ginger, but my son and my husband were not wowed by the $14 burger. This is Hamilton, people, not midtown Manhattan. My daughter enjoyed the haddock. We were there on one of the overly hot March days and they had the a/c on to a very cold and uncomfortable level. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt since they probably weren't planning to fire it up so soon. We won't go back. I would prefer to spend my heard earned dollars on places where we are given a great big welcome at the door and don't get a condescending attitude from the waitstaff. The only somewhat friendly person was the woman who was wiping down tables.

I have been here twice, once for lunch and the second time for dinner. Place is pricey for the quality and quantity of the food. Lunch prices are more acceptable, but dinner is not worth it. The one meal I would recommend is their turnip soup, amazing taste. This is nice to experiment but I don't think I'll be visiting any time soon.

So many things to love here. The newly remodel, where they wexpanded, is just great -- couches in the back, mice high tables in the bar, and lovely big round table, perfect for our party of 9 that came in for a late brunch, two Sundays in a row (oddly enough) The staff is great. Welcoming, patient (we're a boisterous crown), gracious, accommodating. And the food is really excellent. Once it arrives. Uh oh... there it is. The fatal flaw. OK. To be fair, there were nine of us, ordering all at once, I get that. However, the rest of the restaurant was vewy vewy quiet. Not a lot of competition for kitchen space, and our meals took a really really long time. I And no bread basket, muffins, whatever. And we didn't order anything exotic. Sheesh! I want to give this five stars,I really do. But I just can't! Go back for dinner, for sure. But brunch, nsm...

Advance caveat: I worked for one of the Serenitee Group's restaurants and it didn't go so well. That being said, I still think good things about many of their other locations. But my experience tonight at 15 Walnut was so very disappointing. The service was deplorable. I don't know the bartender's name because she never introduced herself. I asked for a drink and water. No water. I waited a good 10-15 minutes to catch her eye again to order. 20 minutes later, still no food. She had no problem chit-chatting with the couple next to me, but didn't look my way once. Finally, I asked where my order was, after my neighbors' food arrived before mine. "I'll go check." Obviously, my order had been waiting for delivery because it appeared almost instantly. I ordered a "build your own anitpasto." The spring rolls were ... odd. They claim local veggies so I don't know exactly what was in them, but the flavor was off.All I know is that I didn't like it. The goat cheese and tabouli portion was tasty, but only came with two tiny toast points - not nearly enough. To be fair, the fried chickpeas were lovely. I got no side plate with my order, so I wound up making a mess. I tried to ask for one but, again, couldn't catch the bartender's eye. Also, once my drink was emptied, no offer for a refill. The food was m'eh and the service was terrible. It makes me sad because I like the idea of a farm-to-table restaurant. But I won't be going back any time soon.

My first review and sadly it starts with three stars.. :-( I, too bought a groupon for this restaurant. I didn't live very far, so my friend and i didn't feel the need to make reservations and we were ok eating at the bar. I had an awesome pappardelle mushroom pasta dish and my friend had a haddock wrapped in prosciutto both very delicious! So, here's where the three stars come from... I took out my phone to show the waitress that I was using my groupon and she said "sorry..they needed a hard copy of the groupon" meaning they want the groupon printed and groupon states I can just pull it out of my phone and show it to them! Second...In this day in age...Aren't we practicing on going GREEN??? For a restaurant that stresses a "farm to table" menu you would think they think GREEN! Anyway, fellow Grouponers...make sure to print your groupon when coming to this place!

15 local bistro in Hamilton Ma specializes in locally sourced ingredients. We thought it would be fun to try a new placed in a town I never heard of. My first impression was "Oh God, it's in a strip mall" my apprehension quickly passed when we sat down to dinner. The "pick a combo antipasto" was excellent, a combo of local soft cheese, hot artichoke dip and white bean humus along with thin toasted Italian bread was a superb accompaniment to the Chardonnay. I got the sears tuna and on a bed of micro thin noodles,so the dish wasn't too filling ,but just enough. The tuna was perfectly rare and and pleasing to the eye. Our waiter was engaging and personal if not a little slow on the wine refills. The atmosphere was somewhat "run of the mill" but the food and service more than make up. I would definitely recommend 15 local bistro. Yes,for the same price you can go downtown Boston and not make the trip to Hamilton,but we had no parking stress . That in it self is a "great thing"

My wife and I arrived just past 5 on a Sunday night. We prefer booths both for their privacy and softer seating. As I looked around the restaurant, I saw a grand total of one booth that was filled so I thought nothing of requesting booth seating. Granted, most of the booths were clearly meant for more than groups of two but this was a Sunday evening at 5, not a Saturday at 7 with a full restaurant. The greeter looked completely taken aback like this was the most outlandish request he had ever heard of. He didn't say anything but his expression let us know exactly how put out he was. Seconds went by with nothing happening. Finally I said that it was no big deal and that I didn't want to make a problem for him. I had had a stressful day and didn't want a confrontation before what I hoped would be a relaxing dinner. Frankly, it was a big deal to be treated in such a fashion. It was unnecessary and really offputting. After much himming and hawing, he led us to a circular booth with comfortable seating. We had brought a coupon that requires a $35 purchase to receive $25 off. Nowhere on the coupon does it say that alcoholic drinks don't count towards the $35. We figured our total and it came to $35 including the $5 beer I ordered. We wanted to be sure so we asked the waitress. She didn't know but then came back to tell us that alcohol doesn't count. That's fine but it should have been on the coupon. The food we got was very good. I loved the fried oysters and my burger was cooked just right. My wife and I both enjoyed our mixed green salads. The food is definitely overpriced but it's delicious. The waitress didn't fill our waters once and I left thirsty. I didn't feel welcomed at this place and it won't be on our list of places to return to anytime soon.

Food was ok Servers were very nice and helpful as they could be given: 4 cooks standing around talking while order tickets pile up...NOT COOL! We ordered a kid's cheeseburger, a chicken salad and a chicken sandwich: It took 60 minutes for our food to arrive during brunch service with about 18 guests in the restaurant, 2 servers, 1 bartender and one host. Hint to restaurants that want to stay in business: dont have an open kitchen concept if everyone can see your staff lolly-gagging about while they hungrily wait for their food. Another hint: if you are going to make people wait for a chicken sandwich or salad, the darn chicken should be freshly cooked. Not pre-cooked and then reheated.

We bought a groupon ($15 for $30) for this restaurant. We called an hour before and made a reservation for 7:45 pm. The place had a good ambience & since we were there early we waited at the bar. Without wasting time we asked what beers were on draft and the bar tender went on with a decent list of beers. Served in chilled glass couldn't get better. I ordered Gloucester Haddock (broiled) with sliced heirloom tomatoes and Corn ( 2 sides). My wife ( vegetarian) got grilled corn and tomato pizza which was ok but I felt was burnt . Loved the beer and atmosphere. Food was ok, may be we chose wrong things.

Mixed Revew but simple. Went here for the Mothers Day Brunch after reading about it on a website that evaluates local Mothers Day brunch venues. First of all, its a bar...with tables and booths. Not really what I had in mind for a Mothers Day Brunch with my wife, 2 little girls and my in laws. Looks like an upscale bar at that which I probably would be happy getting a couple of pints here at night instead. We called in our reservations for 11:30am. Got in and to our table very quickly. Most of the restaurant was empty at this point. The menu looked interesting so I chose the Farm Board Swiss. It was made in the "fritatta" form in a skillet on a wooden board. It took 1hr and 10minutes to get it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We were starving to the point that I had to walk up and ask for some fruit for the kids. I didn't mind waiting at first because we didn't want to rush but it really got late. I looked around and seen some other tables that weren't served yet as well. When we received our meal, it was delicious. I have to say, everything was great. Although, it might be jaded because we were so hungry but I still think the food was great. The portions were small to medium sized for typical brunches but I think too much food is a waste anyway, so it was fine with me. So, as you can see, my review is mixed. Hopefully the delay was just an oversight or something and a remedy is on the way.

A friend suggested this place and I'm so glad that she did. We were greeted warmly as we entered the restaurant and given our choice of seating. We were able to spend quality time speaking with the manager about a business matter and later met our waitress who was just as warm, friendly and helpful when it came time to order. I can't say enough good things about her (forget her name, unfortunately, but do remember that she has 4 children). The food was quite delicious and I look forward to returning. I told the manager that I really enjoyed the fact that I found a coupon on the Yelp site.

As a former local who still spends a fair amount of time in town I'm really pleased to see this reincarnation of what used to be an over-priced, satisfactory, soccer mom establishment who was playing a game a little beyond the league H-W plays in. It now feels like a comfortable and classy place to eat a decent meal on a Tuesday and thats exactly what the community needs! I recently went with my father on such a Tuesday and LOVED the risotto and scallops. He had a delicious bolognese. We both had 2 glasses of wine and the bill was very reasonable. The Shaker-style chairs and rustic tables really improve the decor as does the lack of that odd partition that separated the "bar area" from the dining area. The only thing I would change is the red lite strip on the awning as I thought they had moved the Bank of America to that corner as first glance. Over all this is a great rebirth of a restaurant and I look forward to going back again and again.

Took Mumsie out for Brunch on Saturday. The food was great, service was excellent, and the restaurant was super cute and clean. We ordered the salad to split, 2 coffees, a mimosa and 2 brunch entrees. I had the breakfast burrito and they allowed me to swap out the sausage for some bacon (because sausage is gross, if you didn't know). It was MASSIVE which was awesome, since I was so hungry I wanted to die. Mom got a brunch board thingy which had a really cute presentation (everything was served separately on a butcher block board) and she said it was delicious. We had a groupon, but even without it would have been $45, which is a great deal for so much good food. Can't wait to try dinner!

Came by last night and it was great. We had just about the entire place to ourselves, as we came just as they opened for dinner at 5pm. The service was wonderful as well as the food. I would suggest to try the Arancini and the braised short ribs. What a wonderful meal, and outstanding service.

This is a 5-star restaurant that gets 2 stars cause they don't have high chairs. I don't know what that deal is, maybe they don't want little kids in the restaurant. People who said it's "kid friendly" need to get a clue - just cause the food is great doesn't mean you should check off everything.

2nd trip to 15 Walnut. This place is now my new favorite restaurant on the north shore. I chose outside my usual picks this time. (I am one one those people who always orders the same thing every time.) We decided among all the great selections on the antipasto menu. Great value and wonderful appy. You cannot go wrong ordering from this for starters. I had the margarita pizza. Usually I pick whole tomatoes off my pizza, these tomatoes were crazy fresh, sweet and yummy I have never enjoyed the taste of tomato the way I did with this pizza. Hubby had the salmon. Side of herbed risotto and mac n cheese. OMG. This was the best risotta I have had in a very long time. The menu changes with the seasons. Glad I got to sample the summer, a few weeks ago and then last night, the autumn. We will be going back on our next night out.

The food and cocktails merit 4 stars while 3 for customer service is being generous. They have a nice, big bar offering great drinks with creative, fresh ingredients and some decent beer on tap. They used to offer Cody draft brews, I was a little bummed not to see that on the menu. There were 8 of us seated at a large round table tucked into a corner. The table was roomy and we had comfortable seats but the wait staff couldn't reach most of us so there were some drinks sloshed on guests in passing, and our meals had to be passed down the line to reach their destinations. It was a little awkward but we were a pretty laid back group so it wasn't a huge deal. For the most part all of the food was fresh and delicious however I do feel that the value, for the money, just isn't there. There is something on the menu for everyone and the food pairings are well planned. We ordered from the sampler board, the fried chick peas and local cheeses were a big hit. Several of us got the scallops, which were very good, no complaints - nor raves - about the farm board, haddock, and chicken but my mother loved the duck. My husband's ribeye was overcooked and not very flavorful. Now comes the part where I can't decide if I'm in the wrong to be annoyed or not. Being a party of 8 the men insisted on splitting the check 4 ways. They each gave our waitress their credit cards and were each given their own slips to sign. We stayed a little longer, finishing our drinks and deciding where to go next. Finally we left and went on to the Barrel House in Beverly. An hour later my husband checked his phone, he had a couple of missed calls and then then the same number called him again. It was our waitress calling because she had mistakenly split the check 5 ways rather than 4 and needed the difference to be covered. They had my husband's cell number from the reservations. We originally intended to split the bill 50/50 anyway so he told them to just go ahead and put it on his card. By no means would we ever expect not to pay for meals that we had ordered and eaten, and we had overlooked her mistake as well... but we were there for another 10 minutes after the bill was settled. I just feel like it was in poor taste for the her to keep calling and calling my husband after we had left the restaurant, not leaving a voice mail, because of her mistake. In truth, the difference was really the tip so while I believe decent service warrants a tip, part of that service is making sure the bill is correct and once we left she shouldn't have called us, repeatedly, chasing her tip. If we are passing by we would stop in for an Old Fashion and some starters at the bar. For dinner, there are better options in the area.

Extremely tasty! I had the Beet salad which (with the arugula) was a bit intense for me, but the seasonal Baked Potato soup was WONDERFUL. As I told my waitress, I would have licked the bowl if it wasn't horribly inappropriate. The ambiance was lovely, and the staff was inviting and friendly even though I was alone and just enjoying an lovely dinner and a great new novel on my kindle. Excellent service and the freshest, most delicious meals we have ever had. From the basil white bean hummus, fried chic peas and the local goat cheese appetizers AMAZING!! The sushi special had tons of crab meat and tuna and the beet/goat cheese spinach salad was so garden fresh and absolutely perfect. The margarita pizza had fresh ingredients, cooked perfectly, the perfect amount of roasted tomatoes, basil, pesto, fresh mozzarella that it melted in your mouth. The desserts, chocolate mint fudge, 15 walnut brittle and creme brule were smooth, tasty, not too sweet and memorable. our waitress, Michele was superb and the general manager delivers the food to ensure everything is perfect. A new, talented chef with a fresh menu and great kitchen team. A complete 10 out of 10 dinner! We highly recommend 15 Walnut...It doesn't get any better than this restaurant. Just awesome casual, fresh and innovative food. We go there as often as we can. They have a nice antipasto app that can substitute for dinner if you just want to snack. Dont miss the fried chickpeas. My wife and I are huge fans of this place. We live within walking distance of a dozen or so good restaurants in Newburyport, MA and about once or twice a month we'll make the the trek to 15 Walnut. I take the commuter rail to work everyday and will often meet my wife here as well since it's about 1/8th of a mile from the Hamilton/Wenham stop. We sit at the bar whenever we go. The people and staff are always willing to make room for more guests. Personally, I think their appetizer menu is better than the dinner menu. So we often get the nachos and 2 other appetizers and its MORE than enough for both of us.

Loved this place!!! I highly recommend it to all my peeps. From the outside, you will never expect such a calming, inviting, and refreshing atmosphere. Everything from the smell of the wood fire ovens, to the surrealism on the walls, to the attentive & friendly staff....was just so appreciated. We brought my boyfriends Grandparents here, whom happen to live nearby. They had been several times for lunch and also liked it very much....but we all went for dinner. The drinks were unique and really well made. I envied the bar section a little...but our booth was comfy. I ordered a raspberry lime rickey drink. The flavor was right on, and the alcohol content was not shy. Everyone else at the table ordered ginger martinis that I sampled, and those were killer as well. The starter I ordered was a sea scallop dish with some kind of pork encrusted deliciousness (I die a little for pork encrusted anything) that was cooked to perfection. So tasty, and seasoned to perfection. I ordered the Spring Carbonara Handmade Pasta. I really liked it, but I kept eying someone else 's Ahi Tuna which was ultra tasty. I like to share! :) The cappuccino and home made vanilla creme brulee owned my world! Our server was very sweet and helpful, and everyone in the place was just happy. I looked around and everyone was enjoying there time there. I think the owners and managers really put a lot of thought into there business, from the sounds, to the smells, to the taste....sensory WIN. The music playing was cool, and right up my alley, and we saw great artwork and Gerry was on the wall! :) WIN WIN We will definitely be back for more of this Artisan Affair Cooking (hand crafted in limited quantities using traditional methods) I love supporting places that use local and seasonal offerings into there dining experience...and you should too. You can taste the love that goes into the food.

Not the biggest fan of their restaurants in general, as this is the third out of the group I have eaten at. However 15 Walnut has its act together much more then Maggie's Farm or Hale Street Tavern. We went there on a Friday night without reservations and only waited about 20 minutes, which is not bad at all. I got their burger, which was very tasty. My date got the Risotto and she thought it was very flavorful. I only give it 4 stars because the prices are a little steep, however I know its in Hamilton and the rent is probably very high in this plaza.

One of my favorite resturants on the North Shore. The atmosphere is cozy yet with country hip feel. Lots of cool artwork and a nice bar, even the bathroom is "green". Food wise the menu is small and seasonal but still has plenty of choices for everyone. The drink menu is creative with "new" and "old" school cocktails, craft beers and wines. Service : is very relaxed and natural with being quite attentive but not in your face. The prices are a bit high for the portion size but worth the extra couple dollars. They claim to be farm to table but they really should be promoting more farms and advertising where the food comes from. They are lucky to be in an area rich in farms and food producers so make more use of it.

I have been to 15 Walnut a number of times for dinner with a group of 6. Food is good, but all are getting tired of the place. They always put us in a round corner table that is VERY LOUD. Service was very slow to get beverages refilled. Rolls were tiny like golf balls and just as HARD! The baker should be fired. This place is pricey and I expect attention to details. BUT, I think this place is over-priced for the dining experience. This is probably the last time my group will go there.

This place is terrific! My husband and I went after receiving a groupon and have gone back several times. The food is fresh and local whenever possible. They have a menu that changes with seasons and availability of local produce. The fried chickpeas are super tasty. I'd give it half a star if I could. I may have already reviewed this place but a conversation with my mum, who recently dined there, got me fired up all over again. I just don't get why people like this place. I've been three times and sent each meal back (haddock that smelled rank to a simple quesadilla that was nothing but dark, sketchy meat). We always sit at the bar and the service is hit or miss. My mum ordered a pasta dish and the pasta was half cooked ("clumped together") and she said the sauce tasted like dishwater. Now she can be harsh (gee, wonder where I get it from) but when she asked to order a salad instead, the lettuce was partially frozen!!?? Seriously? I do like the decor....maybe it's because my friend built the original bar but honestly, people....the sub-par food has nothing to do with whether you lived there or not (*disclaimer - it's my home town). It's just not good.

Great Place Went with my wife and mother in law and had an awesome meal. They got the 15 Walnut Salad which they loved. I got the antipasto (they let you choose 3 items from an antipasto list). I got provolone, which was fried into a golden circle patty, fresh beets, and fried artichokes. The provolone was awesome. The beets tasted like they were just picked today and the friend artichokes were amazing. The host said they have a "farm to table" policy where they like to buy everything local. I wanted the Braised Beef entree but they were out of it, because they don't over order anything. They order all local stuff. So i settled for the NY Pizza and my wife and mother in law split the proscuitto and caramelized onion pizza. Theirs was topped with greens drizzled in balsamic vinegar too. The NY pizza had 3 or 4 different meats on it. Both were perfect for 2 people to eat. They were both amazing. We'll definitely go back and try the entree's but just having antipasto and a pizza was perfect too. Good to sit at the bar and have that with a few drinks. Great atmosphere. Bistro type decor. In a strip mall which you wouldn't know once you go in there. Nice open kitchen too. We'll definitely go back

Excellent meal and staff at 15 Walnut! I went with a friend and we started out with the pulled pork quesadilla - which was absolutely Delicious. I was planning on getting the Tenderloin au poive, but the pulled pork was so good I started to second guess my choice. I ordered the Tenderloin, but ended up ordering a pulled pork entree to go. My friend ordered the "bell and evans" lemon rubbed chicken that was prepared perfectly. Crispy on the outside and unbelievably moist on the inside. The sides were excellent, between the two of us we had whipped potatoes, mac n cheese, and oven veggie. All of them were fantastic. Looking forward to going back their soon!

We live locally, and it's convenient, so we have been many times over the past several years. The atmosphere is great - the expanded bar is beautiful. Really nice taste and creative décor - classic, not too trendy, yet very cool and artistic. They changed the menu a while back and it includes more mainstream items (edamame, ahi tuna, blah blah) and they seem to have strayed from their claim of local and sustainable (edamame = China, really?) That said, what we have experienced since the menu change has been actually quite good - more variety, and has been more enjoyable from past experiences. If you are a foodie, and looking for different, there is nothing spectacular about this place, but it is very good. The service, at one time, was, um, a wee bit snotty, but service last several visits has been excellent. We look forward to going back in the summer to hopefully experience more local flavor.

This review is only based on the BBQ ribs with broccoli, cornbread, and mac & cheese. The Vermont cheddar mac & cheese was delicious. We got takeout, and neither my boyfriend nor I cared for the BBQ. Broccoli & cornbread was OK. But the meat, while juicy, had no flavor and the sauce wasn't that good...Tennessee's is much better for BBQ. The 3 stars is for the mac & cheese & the service, which was super friendly. I definately want to go back & try something else.

What a difference a year makes! Okay, having been given a gift certificate we decided to give 15 Walnut another shot. Went on a Saturday nite around 6:30, the place was packed but we found the last 2 seats at the bar, which is my SOP anyway. The antipasto was fabulous, an a la carte assortment that for me included fresh grilled beets, amazing hummus, and fried chick peas. I was already a fan by then, but the ahi seared tuna with squash and vegetables as sides were phenomenal. Wine was good, service was great, we'll go back, could even become regulars. ps - Thanks, Matt. :)

Indigo Bar and Grill is a small hidden gem in the North Shore. The service was professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. Their decor is contemporary and comfortable. Now to the food: We ordered diet cokes (the greatest soft drink), seared ahi tuna (starter), Indigo BBQ dinner platter, Hawaiian black lava salt dusted filet mignon, the braised short rib, and the apple crisp (dessert). Their prices are slightly expensive but WELL worth it. I highly recommend the braised short ribs. It was a perfect blend of winter squash mousse, swiss chard, and a huge tender slab of meaty goodness. The only regret was the apple crisp. It sucked and I told the waitress that, which I normally do not do--telling the truth. One side note: indigo has a burger that incorporates ground kobe beef. why do people or restaurants want to GROUND KOBE BEEF!!! It's like ordering steak WELL DONE! Respect the cows and don't bastardize them.

Really nice experience. We had an early reservation last Friday evening... 5:30. Among we four was my grandson who was 3 that day. Hostess greeted us and immediately seated us in a roomy booth near the bar. We were watered, then attended by a waitress taking drinks orders. In the waitress's banter with the little boy he told her it was his birthday. Somehow he indicated what he would like was an orange sandwich. After drinks were served, a little sandwich with sliced orange appeared! We ordered from the small plates menu: including a little souffle, cured salmon, and had a pizza... a little buffet. Every bite was delicious. We topped it off with a perfect deep chocolate cake with cinnamon ice cream and delectable chocolate sauce, adorned by a candle. As indicated, staff was welcoming and nice, and it was clear that Friday evening gatherers at the bar were happy campers. Fun!

Both my husband and I like 15 Walnut very much. It's close to our house, casual enough so we don't have to usually spend much time or effort (if any) to get ready and they can usually accommodate us without a reservation although we do make one if we're going on a weekend night after 7. The food is VERY good. The menu changes frequently enough so we don't get tired of it. The best thing (at least, for me) is the "small dish" and/or "choose 3" options. Kind of Tapas style so you can order several things in small quantities. Lends itself to more experimentation so if you don't like one thing, the whole meal isn't a bust. Also love this approach because while I love to eat, I get full easily so a full-sized entree is either wasted on me because I only eat some of it or I eat it all and am uncomfortable full. They use locally grown food (vegetables). All fish is fresh-no frozen. I took my cousin who has a severe case of celiac disease and HAS to eat all-gluten free. She lives in NYC so has many restaurants to choose from but when she asked the waitress at 15 Walnut if either of the 2 dishes she was considering had been even cooked in a pan that had been previously used to cook food w/gluten, the waitress asked the chef and he said one had been and he suggested the other (and 2 more options). She said she rarely gets such honesty in more expensive NYC restaurants.

had a wonderful brunch! we were a party of 10 and were nicely accommodated after making a reservation over the phone the day before. The food was excellent and there was something for everyone on the menu. The fries in particular were a great hit. The service was a little slow but with a big group on a busy day I guess that should have been expected. Will definitely be back!

Well, for a start, the place needs work on service and ambience. We had an advance reservation and were seated in the noisy bar area at a 'high top' table, despite mentioning a birthday celebration. The cocktails were quite nice but the waitress immediately began hovering to take our food order. We found the salad courses acceptable, the entrees marginal and the unimaginative wine list added no complimentary value to the food. We sat with soiled dishes and glasses in front of us for at least 15 min after eating until I asked for the dessert menus. The dessert was even more disappointing, more suited to a Friendly's! Too bad this restaurant, even though convenient to home, will force us to travel further for dining out.

My wife had gone previously and we had a gift certificate so weheaded there after a long work day. We were seated promptly in a 'sweetheart's" type table which was very accommodating. The hostess said it would be quieter than the othe tables available very nice touch. Our server was polite offering suggestions as I was a first timer with our drinks and dinners. After a long debate, I went with the Farmer's board. A combination of vegetable Rattatouille, White bean soup and a nice fresh salad. I couldn't have been happier with my choice. My wife had a wedge salad and a delicious gnochi in a light sauce. Pleasantly surprised since it location in oh-so swish Hamilton but in a strip mall. Who knew Hamilton even allowed strip malls. The customers were a mixed of local residents who appeared corporate working upper class, but i didnt feel snobbish vibe at all. I saw another review refer to it as trendy rustic. They have a tv with sports so they;re not trying to be hip. I would suggest you try it out and see for yourselves.

This place is a good find (we had dinner). It's mid-priced for the area. Overall, the service and food were excellent, and that is why we are now fans. We ordered a seasonal appetizer, white bean casserole, which was excellent for a cold night. My husband had the broiled haddock. It was to his liking, not crazy buttery like some haddock you get around here. It was light and flaky. I had the beef tenderloin with mashed potatoes and seasonal veggies. The beef was perfectly cooked medium well. The potatoes were like I would make, and the veggies were good. I probably would not pay $5 for an extra side dish, and I would say the proportion of the appetizer was small.

My wife and I live in the area and ate here for the first time today. We both really enjoyed our experience. We went in the mid-afternoon and therefore we were the only ones in the restaurant. I had their haddock burrito and my wife had their hamburger. We also shared a bowl of their local spinach soup. The soup was the only thing that we thought could have been better; it was just slightly too tangy. Other than this, my haddock burrito was bursting with flavor and was absolutely incredible! I love a good burger when I can find one, so I tried my wife's burger and thought it was really good. It never ceases to amaze me how so many restaurant's fail to season their hamburger meat resulting in a burger that has no flavor. This was not the case at 15 Walnut Local Bistro. The burger was wonderfully flavored and served on a fantastically soft and delicious bun. I'll definitely be coming back to this local find.

The food is fresh and different from what you see on other menus. The menu is always changing with new options all the time. I recommend their burger and the salad. Some of the other portions can be a little small. We got a groupon to try it and we have already been back three times. I love sitting at the large bar. It is a great setup.

do. not. want. i'm all for a restaurant that aims to only serve local, fresh, and anti-mass nasty produced meats. but sometimes, these overly zealous restaurants do fall sort...kind of like the way that the raw movement is falling kind of short. so we sit down at this cute little restaurant in a strip mall. i have high hopes, because i'm all for locally produced, grass fed everything. cute little booth. nice area. very interesting art on the walls, as if the art director in beetle juice decided he wanted to paint tomatoes as sandworm art. so we order a few simple things. 1) buffalo wings. result: they were out of bufflo wings. hmm. well, it is a restaurant based on fresh produce. 2) french onion soup. result: wtf. i am a french onion soup connoisseur. if i were on death row, this is my order. a hot crock of cheesy, melty, bready, oniony, beefy soup. this "innovative" impostor arrived. an asian style, more than likely not-broiler-safe white bowl, on a separate plate with black napkin, a dozen or so little square croutons (to their credit, they probably made them in house), a slice of gruyere (as opposed to the necessary bubbly mound), and an overly sweet, toooooo caramelized onion mess. overall way too sweet. cloyingly sweet. i know what french onion soup looks like and tastes like. beefy onion broth, old school crock, bread, oozy cheese that's been under the broiler. boiling hot, dig in. this, my friends, was not that. it was somebody trying to get away from that, and not only NOT producing something better, but insulting the original to boot. i'm sensitive to the bastardization of any onion soup. i really love french onion soup. 3) salad with chicken and walnuts. this salad, i remember had some seriously succulent chicken. and some tasty greens, and a decent dressing. honestly, i was still too disappointed in the soup to give an honest assessment of the salad. but i would probably give the salad another go... until... 4) my bigger half ordered the burger. result: nice grass fed beef... put on a poorly proportioned brioche type thing. too much bread, too much butter, no mustard, and ... that nasty caramelized onion mixture that i recognized from that unforgivable french onion soup. meh. have experienced better on all items ordered. bummer.

After spending a lovely day in Ipswich with our daughter and her family, we were looking for a place to dine. She suggested 15 Walnut, having heard a great deal about it. They try to use local produce and cheeses. From the moment that we walked in, we were comfortable. The interior design is warm and the booths and tables are nicely sized and spaced well from each other. The kitchen boasts a great open hearth oven, so I imagine the pizzas must be delic! I started with the mesclun salad with candied walnuts and wonderful local goat cheese. The dressing, an herb vinaigrette was excellent! Full of oregano, tarragon and rosemary, I wanted to lick the cup! For dinner, I had the scallops which were flavorful and well-seasoned and nicely cooked.Topped off with a cappuccino, it was hard to remember that it was a Monday night, not a Saturday! My husband had the onion soup, which was not to his taste, but he loved the pulled pork~cooked to perfection without the sauce being too heavy or rich! He loved the escarole and the delicious beans~all locally grown. Our server, Debbie, was lovely and accommodating to all our needs.This is really a hidden gem, located in a cute little shopping center right off 1A. We can't wait to go back. We live in Boston and have the choice of many terrific places to eat~15 Walnut is on par with many of the nicest!

I had dinner with Mom last night at Indigo, and was pleasantly surprised. The interior is somewhat modern, but at the same time cozy and unpretentious. The booths are big and comfortable which we always like. Mom drank red wine and I ordered the Harvest Martini - amazing! My martini was a blend of vodka, apple cider, pomegranate liquer, and champagne, with a cinnamon sugar rim - I would go back just for this martini! They had a pretty creative martini list and a large selection of wines. I found the menu to be a little confusing however - there were more appetizers on page 2 of the menu, which I did not see until I had already ordered an app. Also, the entrée selections were a bit limited (no beef on the menu - just buffalo). I ordered the pulled pork quesadilla to start, which Mom didn't seem to excited about at first, but she ended up loving it (as did I, but I am partial to pulled pork anyways). It came with fresh salsa, guac, and sour cream. We ate half and took the rest to go (I was later disappointed to find that there were no condiments in the take out box - oh well). For our entrees, I ordered the bacon-wrapped buffalo. I was slightly apprehensive at first, having never tried buffalo before, but it was quite delicious and beautifully presented with a large grilled onion (mmm onions!) and asparagus. Mom tried the scallops with pumpkin risotto (and coconut foam?). The risotto was out-of-this-world. She was concerned that it would be too sweet, but that was not the case. I finished almost all of my buffalo, and asked to wrap up Mom's leftover scallops and risotto - which we never got - but I guess I'll get over it... someday. We skipped dessert. Overall - good service, good food, quirky menu. I will be coming back to Indigo.

My boyfriend and I had our first date here. It was a ... decent ... experience. Some good food, some okay food, and really terrible service. Despite this, we decided to go back for our anniversary. This time, it was even worse. After being greeted by our server, who seemed nice enough, we asked to have the candle on our table lit. Never happened. We split the polenta appetizer which was quite good. That was the only high point. My boyfriend is a wine connoisseur and had picked out two glasses that would pair with our meals - which took about 20 minutes to come out. But looking all around the restaurant, our server was nowhere to be found. When the HOST finally brought our meals, we still had not seen our server. I asked her to find him because we wanted to order some wine. I got their "vegetarian special" - a mix of vegetables and quinoa in a hollowed out squash. It was less then spectacular. My boyfriend had the grilled pork which he found tough and overly spiced. After clearing our plates, our server immediately brought over our check. Um, we'd like to see the dessert menu please.... When we finally left, the restaurant was a ghost town and there were no employees in sight to say thanks for dining with us. PS - As we were leaving, we noticed the line cooks munching away on their own food behind the line. Hmmmmm

Enjoyed a delightful dinner yesterday with a friend in what we would never have been drawn to by driving past. The interior, however, of 15 Walnut has ambience, is well laid out and the staff - well - some of the best I've experienced. In particular our server, Michael, was helpful, focused, had natural sense of humor, graciousness and properly attentive. As for order - my friend and I like to share so as to try various dishes - without asking was served divided already. And the food - ah, the food. The shrimp and spicy tuna sushi roll was excellent. The Caesar salad (with anchovies - fresh no less) was perfectly dressed. Although I am not a fan of sweet barbeque sauce (preferring savory) the pulled pork sandwich which came with tasty fries (or salad) was very good. The whole experience amounts to "will be going back." Cannot give a 5 star rating until I have been to a place more than once. Soon, however, soon.

This restaurant is a lot better than the one across the street named Black Cow. The food is better, service is better and there is actually a huge parking lot so parking is always available. You can also go grocery shopping, banking, dry cleaning prior or after your meal which is very convenient.

Excellent food, but very high prices for a strip mall joint, and so incredibly noisy we couldn't even talk. The bar is in the center of the dining room and they seemed to be having a riotously good time. Our waiter moved us to an exterior and slightly less noisy table where we could huddle, heads together, for a conversation.

My husband came upon a Groupon for this establishment a couple of years ago and gave it a try. . . we've been loyal customers ever since. We go out a couple of times a month and this is our preferred restaurant because of its fresh and delicious food. We've never had a bad meal and have settled on a few favorites that we get every time. The staff is great, the ambience is relaxing and the portions are just right. You can't go wrong with a visit to 15 Walnut!

"Consistent Experience: Poor Service and Poor Food" As the title says, the experience was consistent -- the service and the food were not great (but the company was very good, so we laughed). The service took a hit walking in the door (it's the opposite of "you had me at 'hello'"). We were about 10 minutes late, our friend apologized as he gave our name, and, in an admonishing tone, the greater said, "Oh, I was just about to call you." We looked at each other in shock. The place was clean and nice. It was very loud, but that was okay. The server came quickly and was very attentive at the beginning. The menu was fun. There were many choices that were not your standard fair. I was very hopeful. Not being terribly hungry, I ordered their hamburger with onion rings (think gourmet version). The waiter recommended a wine that was quite tasty. That was the "tasty" high point. The meals came, and the burger looked good. I cut into it, and it was still moving past medium rare. I knew we were in for bigger trouble when I saw how greasy the onion rings were. They looked like they were fried in a tempura batter, and they were bland and greasy. The burger came with no lettuce, onion, etc. There were also no condiments. The burger was just blah. For a $14 burger, I expect a lot more. Now comes the 2nd poor customer service experience. As the server is taking away our dishes, my friend calls my name, and the server stops and says in a very irritated voice, "No, my name is D*****." My friend responded he was talking to me. It shouldn't matter if my friend was talking to the server and used his wrong name. Either way, we were all stunned. An then, the server was very inattentive, and it was very difficult to get him back to the table get our bill and run it. My wife said her dinner was blah and that my onion rings were bad. Bottom line: poor service + poor food + expensive = fail!

This place keeps getting better . When I left this time, I left feeling 5 star. When I went there a few weeks ago, I was treated to some amazing house made charcuterie, inspired soups - the ricotta appetizer left the 3 of us at the table fighting over the last bite, and some really outstanding organic wine. Both apps and entrees feature local and/or organic fare, and I find that as they settle in, the cuisine becomes more and more creative. The service was friendly, competent and knowledgeable. I look forward to going back here again soon - and not having to run out for another engagement as I did. I could have sat there ordering appetizers and wine for another couple of hours.

Went here this morning with some friends for the monthly "Breakfast club" brunch club I organize. Food was great as was the service. Nice balanced menu for breakfast and lunch items. Prices were very reasonable I thought for being in Hamilton. Staff was VERY Friendly! I wish I remembered our waitress's name! She was great. I will go back for dinner for sure. I got the rachero skilet- which was with two eggs and chorizo, onion's peppers and something else. Came with a side of home fries and fresh fruit which was nice instead of the toast. I love toast but its nice that they do fresh fruit! A couple others got the skillet dishes, one got a breakfast burrito (the hubby- which he devoured), one got the tips, which came with two sides, one got the pork nachos as an "entree" and lastly one got the pulled pork wrap. Size of portions was great- not over the top and not small.

I went in about a week ago with my husband and two teens. My son has a couple of earrings and my daughter happened to be sporting some red and blue hair coloring in the back of her long hair (hey - at least she's patriotic!). The reception we received by both the host and our waiter was a bit bothersome to us. It wasn't downright rude per se, but there was clearly an undertone of "we know you're not Hamilton stock". I didn't really like that. I would be willing to bet if I was there with two friends after work, we would not have had the same treatment. The food. Well, aside from the above, I wouldn't bring kids to this place. The menu is a bit too eclectic for them. I did enjoy the soup - sweet potato with ginger, but my son and my husband were not wowed by the $14 burger. This is Hamilton, people, not midtown Manhattan. My daughter enjoyed the haddock. We were there on one of the overly hot March days and they had the a/c on to a very cold and uncomfortable level. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt since they probably weren't planning to fire it up so soon. We won't go back. I would prefer to spend my heard earned dollars on places where we are given a great big welcome at the door and don't get a condescending attitude from the waitstaff. The only somewhat friendly person was the woman who was wiping down tables.

So many things to love here. The newly remodel, where they wexpanded, is just great -- couches in the back, mice high tables in the bar, and lovely big round table, perfect for our party of 9 that came in for a late brunch, two Sundays in a row (oddly enough) The staff is great. Welcoming, patient (we're a boisterous crown), gracious, accommodating. And the food is really excellent. Once it arrives. Uh oh... there it is. The fatal flaw. OK. To be fair, there were nine of us, ordering all at once, I get that. However, the rest of the restaurant was vewy vewy quiet. Not a lot of competition for kitchen space, and our meals took a really really long time. I And no bread basket, muffins, whatever. And we didn't order anything exotic. Sheesh! I want to give this five stars,I really do. But I just can't! Go back for dinner, for sure. But brunch, nsm...

Advance caveat: I worked for one of the Serenitee Group's restaurants and it didn't go so well. That being said, I still think good things about many of their other locations. But my experience tonight at 15 Walnut was so very disappointing. The service was deplorable. I don't know the bartender's name because she never introduced herself. I asked for a drink and water. No water. I waited a good 10-15 minutes to catch her eye again to order. 20 minutes later, still no food. She had no problem chit-chatting with the couple next to me, but didn't look my way once. Finally, I asked where my order was, after my neighbors' food arrived before mine. "I'll go check." Obviously, my order had been waiting for delivery because it appeared almost instantly. I ordered a "build your own anitpasto." The spring rolls were ... odd. They claim local veggies so I don't know exactly what was in them, but the flavor was off.All I know is that I didn't like it. The goat cheese and tabouli portion was tasty, but only came with two tiny toast points - not nearly enough. To be fair, the fried chickpeas were lovely. I got no side plate with my order, so I wound up making a mess. I tried to ask for one but, again, couldn't catch the bartender's eye. Also, once my drink was emptied, no offer for a refill. The food was m'eh and the service was terrible. It makes me sad because I like the idea of a farm-to-table restaurant. But I won't be going back any time soon.

My first review and sadly it starts with three stars.. :-( I, too bought a groupon for this restaurant. I didn't live very far, so my friend and i didn't feel the need to make reservations and we were ok eating at the bar. I had an awesome pappardelle mushroom pasta dish and my friend had a haddock wrapped in prosciutto both very delicious! So, here's where the three stars come from... I took out my phone to show the waitress that I was using my groupon and she said "sorry..they needed a hard copy of the groupon" meaning they want the groupon printed and groupon states I can just pull it out of my phone and show it to them! Second...In this day in age...Aren't we practicing on going GREEN??? For a restaurant that stresses a "farm to table" menu you would think they think GREEN! Anyway, fellow Grouponers...make sure to print your groupon when coming to this place!

15 local bistro in Hamilton Ma specializes in locally sourced ingredients. We thought it would be fun to try a new placed in a town I never heard of. My first impression was "Oh God, it's in a strip mall" my apprehension quickly passed when we sat down to dinner. The "pick a combo antipasto" was excellent, a combo of local soft cheese, hot artichoke dip and white bean humus along with thin toasted Italian bread was a superb accompaniment to the Chardonnay. I got the sears tuna and on a bed of micro thin noodles,so the dish wasn't too filling ,but just enough. The tuna was perfectly rare and and pleasing to the eye. Our waiter was engaging and personal if not a little slow on the wine refills. The atmosphere was somewhat "run of the mill" but the food and service more than make up. I would definitely recommend 15 local bistro. Yes,for the same price you can go downtown Boston and not make the trip to Hamilton,but we had no parking stress . That in it self is a "great thing"

Awesome place to eat. Modern mixed with traditional and local feel. The bar is split halfway, with one side modern and one traditional and more old-fashioned. Sometimes gets very noisy - events or weekend evenings. Food is super fresh and the menu rotates every few months. Always a wall featuring local artwork. Extensive bar with occasional rotation beers on tap. Have tried many of their dishes and all are good - pizza, fish, beef, chicken, salads etc. Only once in a dozen+ seatings have I not been consistently wowed by all the food, and that was only one dish in that meal.

My wife and I arrived just past 5 on a Sunday night. We prefer booths both for their privacy and softer seating. As I looked around the restaurant, I saw a grand total of one booth that was filled so I thought nothing of requesting booth seating. Granted, most of the booths were clearly meant for more than groups of two but this was a Sunday evening at 5, not a Saturday at 7 with a full restaurant. The greeter looked completely taken aback like this was the most outlandish request he had ever heard of. He didn't say anything but his expression let us know exactly how put out he was. Seconds went by with nothing happening. Finally I said that it was no big deal and that I didn't want to make a problem for him. I had had a stressful day and didn't want a confrontation before what I hoped would be a relaxing dinner. Frankly, it was a big deal to be treated in such a fashion. It was unnecessary and really offputting. After much himming and hawing, he led us to a circular booth with comfortable seating. We had brought a coupon that requires a $35 purchase to receive $25 off. Nowhere on the coupon does it say that alcoholic drinks don't count towards the $35. We figured our total and it came to $35 including the $5 beer I ordered. We wanted to be sure so we asked the waitress. She didn't know but then came back to tell us that alcohol doesn't count. That's fine but it should have been on the coupon. The food we got was very good. I loved the fried oysters and my burger was cooked just right. My wife and I both enjoyed our mixed green salads. The food is definitely overpriced but it's delicious. The waitress didn't fill our waters once and I left thirsty. I didn't feel welcomed at this place and it won't be on our list of places to return to anytime soon.

Food was ok Servers were very nice and helpful as they could be given: 4 cooks standing around talking while order tickets pile up...NOT COOL! We ordered a kid's cheeseburger, a chicken salad and a chicken sandwich: It took 60 minutes for our food to arrive during brunch service with about 18 guests in the restaurant, 2 servers, 1 bartender and one host. Hint to restaurants that want to stay in business: dont have an open kitchen concept if everyone can see your staff lolly-gagging about while they hungrily wait for their food. Another hint: if you are going to make people wait for a chicken sandwich or salad, the darn chicken should be freshly cooked. Not pre-cooked and then reheated.

The other night I had the pulled pork on brioche sandwich and my wife had the sashimi and a cappuccino. Both were very good.

Came in on a Thursday for drinks and dessert. No seats at the bar but they sat us at a high top near the bar and music. Guy singing was awesome! Wasn't to loud and he improvised a bit which was fun! Had mixed drinks that were good. Waitress was very nice and prompt. Dessert: French Toast Bread Pudding sitting on a sweet sauce and a piece of caramelized BACON. I always wondered why people messed with bacon, cause bacon is awesome on its own. Now I know, cause that bacon was amazing! Could only eat a bit of the dessert (was still a bit full from dinner and trying my friends dessert) but it was very good! Apple crisp came in a skillet. The apples were perfect and the crunchy oaty topping with a scoop of ice cream enhanced the texture and flavor. Will have to go back for a real meal!

Highlights: The atmosphere and rosemary bread is what keeps me coming back to 15 Walnut. Oh yeah and the Kentucky Burbon Barrel Ale that they have on draft :). The large wooden booths make for a cosy space to enjoy a nice dinner. The service is mediocre at best-- I have had two nice servers in the last four years. The food is overpriced for the size and quality. They boast in including local ingredients, but the flavors just miss the mark. The burgers and mussels are delicious, though! It's a local staple, and the OpenTable.com and Serendipity points are incentive to keep going back.

My Gf made reservation for 7. We got there early, no prob. Service at all the Serenitee restaurants I've been to has been great. We were seated. It's a large space with a large bar. Some great living room chairs.Our server Jerelyn was great. She made a suggestion on a cocktail for my GF and kept my beer and our waters full. I got the Dragon roll for an app. It was presented beautiful and was very tasty. Veg. inside were fresh and crunchy. Planned on taking half home but ate it all. Gf got the steak tips. I got the burger of coarse. Med. rare. Came out perfectly cooked. As well as the tips. I got the seaweed salad as a side. Everyone should taste this. A different texture and mouth feel than your use to but very addictive. overall a great experience. We will be back.

If I lived in the area I'd probably give it another try, but overall I was neither impressed, nor terribly disappointed.

You can't tell from the outside, but this casual yet classy bar and restaurant is a real find. The decor and lighting are relaxing and clean. We were not hungry enough to try the interesting appetizers and small plates, so we went right for the entrees. My husband (the beer critic) loves the draft selections here. We had steak tips cooked perfectly and enjoyed the light, flavorful vinaigrette on the side salad. We really liked the pepper mill which delivered a nice, course grind. Jerilyn, our server did a very nice job, with the right amount of checking in. Nice and relaxing!

Was passing through the area and came here based on Yelp reviews. Nice atmosphere with very manageable noise level. We were able to easily find seats at the bar on a Thurs eve at 7:30 (but in the summer). Attentive, friendly and accommodating bartenders. Hearty portions of fresh and well-prepared food . We ordered from the bar menu: fried calamari (nicely breaded, delicate and crunchy), bratwurst meatballs with mini pretzels (a hit with my husband), fried green tomatoes with perfectly crisp green beans and arugula in mustard vinegarette, and char-roasted broccoli with cheese curds & spicy creme fraiche. Live acoustic music at perfect volume. Will definitely return if we find ourselves in the area again.

Well, this is disappointing. We come here frequently, and I've written good reviews in the past, so this is going to be difficult! The last visit some weeks ago involved a pizza with a crust that was WAY too thick and not at all like the pizzas we've had here before....and inedible. Today's visit included a pancake that was more cake than pancake. It was maybe 1.5 inches thick and was obviously baked in one of their cast iron skillets that they use. I love whipped cream even more than the next person, but this was enough whipped cream to sink a battleship! No cholesterol labs for me tomorrow! It was my husband's suggestion that, if this is a pancake that is offered, they need to offer both this and a traditional style pancake, so that one has a choice. Pancakes are a classic brunch staple and while I am innovative in my tastes, I want a traditional pancake. Seriously, people...,what have you done to your menu? After years of coming here, we've had 2 misses in 2 visits. I will give it one more try and then they will have lost customers. They admitted at the last visit that they had changed their menu (possibly read chef?), but they have ruined a good thing! Sorry, but I no longer recommend 15 Walnut!

This place changes their menu just enough with the seasons to keep things new. Everything is always fresh and I have NEVER had a bad food experience here in the past three years that I've been going. If you know their little secrets ( restaurant.com coupons and rocking buffalo wings that aren't on the menu most of the time) then you have an even BETTER experience. My husband and I love trying new stuff so there is no shortage of that here. You do need reservations but they aren't hard to come by. Plan ahead and have a GREAT dinner! Its not an ideal place for kids, but their kids menu does not lack in awesome food and they do have little toys and stuff to entertain them while you all enjoy the food. Try it out!

15 Walnut is one of my fave go to places to eat. I live on the North Shore, a regular here and at Opus in Salem, both run by the same restauranteur group. I have to say I think I like the food better at 15 Walnut. Just my personal taste. Cozy atmosphere, great wine list, great appys, I've never been disappointed. And they do a fantastic job with risottos!!! Always perfect! Might be a little pricey compared to other places, but the food is great and they do offer Groupons and Living Social deals frequently.

First visit 3/14/2014. Excellent menu choices for all palates. We started with the carrot ginger soup & chowder. Both were presented well and tasted excellent. Following soup, we tried the sushi which was fresh and had a fun presentation on a long serving dish. For entrees we chose the baked haddock and gnocci's. The haddock was fresh and cooked perfectly. The gnocci's were so tasty! They arrived with a nice amount of fresh veggies mixed in with the pasta and were seasoned just right! Very happy with our first visit! Meat and veggie lovers will enjoy this eatery!

Just had dinner here, and it was mostly good. The service was great, and it didn't take long for the food to show up. However, we ordered the loaded nachos for a starter and this is where I have a problem. The nachos were great, until I tasted the guacamole. It tasted like it was fizzy, and I was quite perplexed by that taste. My initial guess was that it was off, but we ate it anyway and investigated the strange taste when we got home. Typically guacamole with this taste means that it has been sitting in a steel bin for a while and is old. The reason that I have such an issue with being served old guacamole is because the restaurants tagline is: "Local, Fresh, and Made from Scratch". That is a very high bar that the restaurant set for itself, and I feel like with the food I was given did not meet that standard. It also makes me wonder about the integrity of the rest of the food as well. What other corners are being taken? Two stars and won't return. Restaurants, like this, need to learn to market themselves accurately. If you are going to cut corners, fine, but don't misrepresent yourself to get me to come eat here.

Tonight we took three French guests (chaperones of a school exchange) to dinner, and 15 Walnut was wonderful. We opened with a tapas plate (chick peas, olives, hummus, and mushrooms) and then on a recommendation by the server, Monica, we all had a new item on the menu: Braised Pork Shank with red cabbage and butternut squash puree. It was one of the most beautifully presented and delicious entrees I have had in a long time. We shared some desserts - chocolate chip cookie in cast iron, apple crisp, and creme brulée - and they were excellent. To drink, the reliable 14 Hands Cabernet Sauvignon.

Went here a few nights ago and everything was very good. The cheese plate came with a great wedge of brie and Vermont cheddar paired with dried cranberries and candied walnuts and the flavor combo was out of this world. They have great beer selection whether bottle or draft at a decent price. The Menu had good variation too whether want seafood or a vegetarian dish. Also they took a reservation for 2 so that was convenient to say the least. Only reason for 4 stars opposed to 5 is its very very dim inside.

I just wanted to say thank you for an amazing dinner I had last night. I came in with two friends and we were all floored by not only the fantastic food and perfectly crafted drinks, but the service we received was top notch. As someone who works in the F&B industry, I know it is not always easy to deal with a packed house. The restaurant was so busy when we walked in. We were seated quickly, even without having a reservation. Our waitress was Katie M and I cannot say enough about the service we received from her. She was personable and warm; keeping us entertained all night! Her service was really a cut above what you normally receive at any restaurant. Our drinks were perfect (the Moscow mule & spiced margarita) and our food was cooked perfectly. Overall, it was a perfect experience from start to finish. I cannot wait to go back, and this is largely due to the amazing service we received.

After a day of exploring the many extraordinary farm stands in the area, we were in the mood for a really fresh meal. 15 Walnut delivered! Not too crowded at 6:30 on a Friday night, we were able to get a nice table for two in their back dining room, away from the bar/tv sets. This place has a nice atmosphere overall - cozy and relaxed with a few different seating sections to suite anyone's fancy, whether you want to watch a game at the bar or have an intimate conversation over your meal. Their menu is filled with wonderful seafood options - we split the crab cakes appetizer which were phenomenal (not overwhelmed by cheese/bread crumbs/etc) and then the day boat scallops with shrimp and saffron risotto. The scallops were fresh and cooked perfectly. We also split a side of mashed sweet potatoes which were good, no great, and the gazpacho with a dollop of avocado ice cream - a nice touch! Along with the friendly service and a 1/2 off groupon, this was a wonderful spot.

A so-so restaurant that should think about stepping up its game a bit. There is precious little on the menu which would have been fine but for the fact that the food is, in a word, bland. Don't boast about freshness when the rolls being served were either a day old or poorly stored...they tasted like rubber. A pretty extensive cocktail menu but very few beer choices. There is no way, even in Hamilton , that the "locals" are guzzling down Cosmos all night! There are too many great food choices on the north shore for this place to last without some improvements.

I went Friday night and had: Salad special - local goat cheese, zucchini, fried squash blossom - delish App - Fallafel - perfect Entree - Shrimp Scampi half portion, just the right amount as I was saving room for dessert - very good Dessert - Key Lime Tart - again, very good, reminded me of The Pie Guy's Key Lime Pie only in tart form Husband had the Chorizo & Melted Poblano Fondue - he's still telling me how much he liked it 15 walnut burger peanut butter something or other for dessert that he definitely enjoyed No complaints! This place is a great little gem in South Hamilton. We came recently for Easter brunch with my brother, mom and kids. The decor is great, especially for being part of a strip mall. They had a diverse menu without being overloaded. I ended up with the Farmhouse Breakfast Buritto. It had a crispy exterior and a mix of eggs, cheese, pico and cheese inside. Nice pico garnish across the top with a healthy serving of fresh guac. 5 people for $81 dollars spells big value in my book. We will be back.

Not everything it should be. We had an 'OK' meal but service was spotty at best. We had to ask to place our order, asked for bread which was somehow being served at other tables and but never made it to ours even after our request. Annoying. We really like bread with our salad but it was not to be. Wine glasses sat empty, table set ups (fork, knife, spoon!) not replaced after appetizer course. I hate going out and having to flag down service...we cook at home 6 nights a week and relish going out for 'chefs night off'. Nothing worse than wondering 'where's our waiter, where is our bread, where is the silverware...?' We were being overlooked by our waitperson while they were doting on larger tables. White wine with apppetizer was about room temp - not what I expected. I get that booze is a profit point for the industry but a short pour ($14) for a below average red is ballsy. . Had unremarkable steak tips which were inconsistent - some overdone and chewy while others were not. Was too hungry to send it back and I hate doing that anyway. My companion's meal was very good however. The traffic in Hamilton apparently tolerates pub food at pretty high prices - two mains, salad and two glasses of wine with tip: $120. Will go back for burger - which on a prior visit was excellent - and a beer or two which would be a better value, around $30 at the bar and also will take in a game on the huge TV. This place could and should be a notch above.

Nice setting, open atmosphere, and the food was decent. My big complaint is how over priced it is. $10 for the cheapest glass of wine..and all the entrees were way over priced. If this was in Boston or a 3 or 4 star restaurant I would understand..but it is just a local hang out. They get away with it because it is a small town with wealthy people. Next time..I'll just drive 4 miles and go to Not Your Average Joe's.. similar and a heck of a lot cheaper.

I'm really glad that I've gone back since the renovations!! The restaurant is bigger, and has a clean, rustic feel now. I was impressed by the private dining area too for small parties.... good to know they have a curtain that you can block off the area! As for the food, they have used what seemed to be just local, fresh ingredients which is huge. We started off with an appetizer of fried chickpeas, soup, followed by a vegetable gnocchi dish. It was absolutely delicious! Cooked perfectly. Lots of more vegetarian items than last time!!! The drinks are fun too... Shout out to Matt the bartender for making great cocktails! I will definitely be back with friends. Keep up the good work :)

Don't let the strip mall exterior turn you away as it did us for many years - once you walk in, you're in a different world - well done interior, great bar, booths - my husband called it trendy rustic with great paintings. Typical Cala's coolness. Our server, Darren, was fantastic. Very knowledgeable, took great care of us and wasn't afraid to make recommendations - all of which we tried & loved. The Spicy Crunchy Tuna roll was really delicious - our favorite of the night. My husband does not like Cala's style sushi, feels the rolls are too fancy/over the top, so he agreed to sharing with the expectation that he wouldn't like it or be eating it. Even he loved it! We were a little skeptical with wrapped in rice paper, but that was really delicious, as was the wasabi. We would come back for the sushi alone! For our entries - we had the baked haddock (sides we selected were whipped potatoes and mac & cheese - odd choices, yes, but I picked one & my husband the other) & the seared tuna special. While both were really quite tasty, I had to say that both plates/presentations were a little 'odd'. The haddock looked like a scrawny piece of fish with a cup of mac & cheese on the place. & a large dollop of whipped potatoes. BUT we loved it - The mac & cheese was INCREDIBLE. After making fun of my husband for choosing it, I have to admit that I would strongly recommend that you order as one of your sides with whatever you order - penne pasta with delicious cheese (maybe asiago and a cheddar?) The potatoes are nothing to write about. The breading on the fish was light which at first I didn't like as I was expecting more flavor, but fish was surprisingly tasty. The tuna was perfectly seared with a sesame coating, a great piece of fish with an odd cut. There were two pieces of tuna, one of the pieces was quite thick, cut in the shape of a pyramid/wedge. It was difficult to figure out how to cut it and like that you needed a knife. The tuna was served with a burgundy sauce which we felt was too heavy for the tuna. We asked for wasabi, which Darren happily got for us, and it made all the difference in the meal. Tuna served with fresh tomatos - yellow, orange and red - amazing. We will return...

This is our FAVORITE local spot. We go for every anniversary, special occasion, and date night. They are outstanding with their customer service. The manager is extremely helpful with Gluten & Dairy allergies. Great, romantic atmosphere. Highly recommend it. One sad note, they took the Local Roasted Chicken and Fingerling Potatoes off the menu which was what we redeemer every time. Hope they bring it back. Check them out, you won't be disappointed.

Overall, I thought this restaurant was a little pricey for what it offered. That being said, everything was delicious and our waitress was extremely accommodating and friendly. We split the cheese plate, which was very good. I ordered a vegetarian sushi roll, which was good but overpriced, and a salad, which was delicious. We did have a groupon for this restaurant, so the bill was a little more forgiving than normal. Truthfully, I don't know if we'd be back in a rush just because of the prices.

I was excited to try 15 Walnut after having great experiences at Alchemy and Hale St, but unfortunately it left me a little underwhelmed. Our waitress was great, and the atmosphere was very lively for happy hour timing. The food was sub-par though. We had the antipasto with proscuitto, goat cheese, fried chick peas, and the artichoke fondue. Everything was pretty good, but nothing blew me away. The chick peas were the best part of the plate. We had the NY pizza, and the toppings were good, but the crust wasn't firm enough to hold them all. We also shared the brussels sprouts, and they seemed undercooked. They were too crunchy, which took away from the delicious bacon and pomegranate accompanying the dish. Overall, I think this would be a great place to stop for some apps after work at the bar, but I am not sure I'd come out of my way again. I much prefer alchemy and hale street.

We had the tuna entree as well as a very large sirloin. Tuna was nicely prepared and tasted good though it could have used a little more salt. Rice was a little too room temp so too was the bok choy. The sirloin steak was perfectly med-rare and quite tasty. Side dish of carrots and twice mashed potatoes also very good. On the negative - the bread was tasteless and the olive oil dip was below par. Service is very friendly and the ambience is nice.

Without wasting time we asked what beers were on draft and the bar tender went on with a decent list of beers. Served in chilled glass couldn't get better. I ordered Gloucester Haddock (broiled) with sliced heirloom tomatoes and Corn ( 2 sides). My wife ( vegetarian) got grilled corn and tomato pizza which was ok but I felt was burnt . ingredients were incredibly fresh as advertised! i asked for parmesan cheese to go with the complimentary bread and olive oil dip, i expected cheap grated parmesan, instead i got freshly shredded ones. fresh local beets were very flavorful. main entree was braised short ribs, served hot and tender. sauce was not overpowering. the whipped potatoes had just the right amount of butter and seasoning, spinach was fresh and didn't leave a bad aftertaste, gorgonzola sauce was light and went really well with everything else.

Mixed Revew but simple. Went here for the Mothers Day Brunch after reading about it on a website that evaluates local Mothers Day brunch venues. First of all, its a bar...with tables and booths. Not really what I had in mind for a Mothers Day Brunch with my wife, 2 little girls and my in laws. Looks like an upscale bar at that which I probably would be happy getting a couple of pints here at night instead. We called in our reservations for 11:30am. Got in and to our table very quickly. Most of the restaurant was empty at this point. The menu looked interesting so I chose the Farm Board Swiss. It was made in the "fritatta" form in a skillet on a wooden board. It took 1hr and 10minutes to get it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We were starving to the point that I had to walk up and ask for some fruit for the kids. I didn't mind waiting at first because we didn't want to rush but it really got late. I looked around and seen some other tables that weren't served yet as well. When we received our meal, it was delicious. I have to say, everything was great. Although, it might be jaded because we were so hungry but I still think the food was great. The portions were small to medium sized for typical brunches but I think too much food is a waste anyway, so it was fine with me. So, as you can see, my review is mixed. Hopefully the delay was just an oversight or something and a remedy is on the way.

A friend suggested this place and I'm so glad that she did. We were greeted warmly as we entered the restaurant and given our choice of seating. We were able to spend quality time speaking with the manager about a business matter and later met our waitress who was just as warm, friendly and helpful when it came time to order. As a former local who still spends a fair amount of time in town I'm really pleased to see this reincarnation of what used to be an over-priced, satisfactory, soccer mom establishment who was playing a game a little beyond the league H-W plays in. It now feels like a comfortable and classy place to eat a decent meal on a Tuesday and thats exactly what the community needs! I recently went with my father on such a Tuesday and LOVED the risotto and scallops. He had a delicious bolognese. We both had 2 glasses of wine and the bill was very reasonable. The Shaker-style chairs and rustic tables really improve the decor as does the lack of that odd partition that separated the "bar area" from the dining area. The only thing I would change is the red lite strip on the awning as I thought they had moved the Bank of America to that corner as first glance. Over all this is a great rebirth of a restaurant and I look forward to going back again and again.

Took Mumsie out for Brunch on Saturday. The food was great, service was excellent, and the restaurant was super cute and clean. We ordered the salad to split, 2 coffees, a mimosa and 2 brunch entrees. I had the breakfast burrito and they allowed me to swap out the sausage for some bacon (because sausage is gross, if you didn't know). It was MASSIVE which was awesome, since I was so hungry I wanted to die. Mom got a brunch board thingy which had a really cute presentation (everything was served separately on a butcher block board) and she said it was delicious. We had a groupon, but even without it would have been $45, which is a great deal for so much good food. Can't wait to try dinner!

Came by last night and it was great. We had just about the entire place to ourselves, as we came just as they opened for dinner at 5pm. The service was wonderful as well as the food. I would suggest to try the Arancini and the braised short ribs. What a wonderful meal, and outstanding service.

This is a 5-star restaurant that gets 2 stars cause they don't have high chairs. I don't know what that deal is, maybe they don't want little kids in the restaurant. People who said it's "kid friendly" need to get a clue - just cause the food is great doesn't mean you should check off everything.

I really appreciate the rotating menu and the fact that the "farm board" entree is always vegetarian. Thank goodness someone in the North Shore accommodates those who don't eat meat! Though the prices are a bit high, the food is delicious and the service is top notch.

2nd trip to 15 Walnut. This place is now my new favorite restaurant on the north shore. I chose outside my usual picks this time. (I am one one those people who always orders the same thing every time.) We decided among all the great selections on the antipasto menu. Great value and wonderful appy. You cannot go wrong ordering from this for starters. I had the margarita pizza. Usually I pick whole tomatoes off my pizza, these tomatoes were crazy fresh, sweet and yummy I have never enjoyed the taste of tomato the way I did with this pizza. Hubby had the salmon. Side of herbed risotto and mac n cheese. OMG. This was the best risotta I have had in a very long time. The menu changes with the seasons. Glad I got to sample the summer, a few weeks ago and then last night, the autumn. We will be going back on our next night out.

Excellent service and the freshest, most delicious meals we have ever had. From the basil white bean hummus, fried chic peas and the local goat cheese appetizers AMAZING!! The sushi special had tons of crab meat and tuna and the beet/goat cheese spinach salad was so garden fresh and absolutely perfect. The margarita pizza had fresh ingredients, cooked perfectly, the perfect amount of roasted tomatoes, basil, pesto, fresh mozzarella that it melted in your mouth. The desserts, chocolate mint fudge, 15 walnut brittle and creme brule were smooth, tasty, not too sweet and memorable. our waitress, Michele was superb and the general manager delivers the food to ensure everything is perfect. A new, talented chef with a fresh menu and great kitchen team. A complete 10 out of 10 dinner! We highly recommend 15 Walnut...It doesn't get any better than this restaurant. My wife and I are huge fans of this place. We live within walking distance of a dozen or so good restaurants in Newburyport, MA and about once or twice a month we'll make the the trek to 15 Walnut. I take the commuter rail to work everyday and will often meet my wife here as well since it's about 1/8th of a mile from the Hamilton/Wenham stop. We sit at the bar whenever we go. The people and staff are always willing to make room for more guests. Personally, I think their appetizer menu is better than the dinner menu. So we often get the nachos and 2 other appetizers and its MORE than enough for both of us.

The food and cocktails merit 4 stars while 3 for customer service is being generous. They have a nice, big bar offering great drinks with creative, fresh ingredients and some decent beer on tap. They used to offer Cody draft brews, I was a little bummed not to see that on the menu. There were 8 of us seated at a large round table tucked into a corner. The table was roomy and we had comfortable seats but the wait staff couldn't reach most of us so there were some drinks sloshed on guests in passing, and our meals had to be passed down the line to reach their destinations. It was a little awkward but we were a pretty laid back group so it wasn't a huge deal. For the most part all of the food was fresh and delicious however I do feel that the value, for the money, just isn't there. There is something on the menu for everyone and the food pairings are well planned. We ordered from the sampler board, the fried chick peas and local cheeses were a big hit. Several of us got the scallops, which were very good, no complaints - nor raves - about the farm board, haddock, and chicken but my mother loved the duck. My husband's ribeye was overcooked and not very flavorful. Now comes the part where I can't decide if I'm in the wrong to be annoyed or not. Being a party of 8 the men insisted on splitting the check 4 ways. They each gave our waitress their credit cards and were each given their own slips to sign. We stayed a little longer, finishing our drinks and deciding where to go next. Finally we left and went on to the Barrel House in Beverly. An hour later my husband checked his phone, he had a couple of missed calls and then then the same number called him again. It was our waitress calling because she had mistakenly split the check 5 ways rather than 4 and needed the difference to be covered. They had my husband's cell number from the reservations. We originally intended to split the bill 50/50 anyway so he told them to just go ahead and put it on his card. By no means would we ever expect not to pay for meals that we had ordered and eaten, and we had overlooked her mistake as well... but we were there for another 10 minutes after the bill was settled. I just feel like it was in poor taste for the her to keep calling and calling my husband after we had left the restaurant, not leaving a voice mail, because of her mistake. In truth, the difference was really the tip so while I believe decent service warrants a tip, part of that service is making sure the bill is correct and once we left she shouldn't have called us, repeatedly, chasing her tip. If we are passing by we would stop in for an Old Fashion and some starters at the bar. For dinner, there are better options in the area.

Extremely tasty! I had the Beet salad which (with the arugula) was a bit intense for me, but the seasonal Baked Potato soup was WONDERFUL. As I told my waitress, I would have licked the bowl if it wasn't horribly inappropriate. The ambiance was lovely, and the staff was inviting and friendly even though I was alone and just enjoying an lovely dinner and a great new novel on my kindle. Loved this place!!! I highly recommend it to all my peeps. From the outside, you will never expect such a calming, inviting, and refreshing atmosphere. Everything from the smell of the wood fire ovens, to the surrealism on the walls, to the attentive & friendly staff....was just so appreciated. We brought my boyfriends Grandparents here, whom happen to live nearby. They had been several times for lunch and also liked it very much....but we all went for dinner. The drinks were unique and really well made. I envied the bar section a little...but our booth was comfy. I ordered a raspberry lime rickey drink. The flavor was right on, and the alcohol content was not shy. Everyone else at the table ordered ginger martinis that I sampled, and those were killer as well. The starter I ordered was a sea scallop dish with some kind of pork encrusted deliciousness (I die a little for pork encrusted anything) that was cooked to perfection. So tasty, and seasoned to perfection. I ordered the Spring Carbonara Handmade Pasta. I really liked it, but I kept eying someone else 's Ahi Tuna which was ultra tasty. I like to share! :) The cappuccino and home made vanilla creme brulee owned my world! Our server was very sweet and helpful, and everyone in the place was just happy. I looked around and everyone was enjoying there time there. I think the owners and managers really put a lot of thought into there business, from the sounds, to the smells, to the taste....sensory WIN. The music playing was cool, and right up my alley, and we saw great artwork and Gerry was on the wall! :) WIN WIN We will definitely be back for more of this Artisan Affair Cooking (hand crafted in limited quantities using traditional methods) I love supporting places that use local and seasonal offerings into there dining experience...and you should too. You can taste the love that goes into the food.

One of my favorite resturants on the North Shore. The atmosphere is cozy yet with country hip feel. Lots of cool artwork and a nice bar, even the bathroom is "green". Food wise the menu is small and seasonal but still has plenty of choices for everyone. The drink menu is creative with "new" and "old" school cocktails, craft beers and wines. Service : is very relaxed and natural with being quite attentive but not in your face. The prices are a bit high for the portion size but worth the extra couple dollars. They claim to be farm to table but they really should be promoting more farms and advertising where the food comes from. They are lucky to be in an area rich in farms and food producers so make more use of it.

I have been to 15 Walnut a number of times for dinner with a group of 6. Food is good, but all are getting tired of the place. They always put us in a round corner table that is VERY LOUD. Service was very slow to get beverages refilled. Rolls were tiny like golf balls and just as HARD! The baker should be fired. This place is pricey and I expect attention to details. BUT, I think this place is over-priced for the dining experience. This is probably the last time my group will go there.

They have a menu that changes with seasons and availability of local produce. The fried chickpeas are super tasty. Not the biggest fan of their restaurants in general, as this is the third out of the group I have eaten at. However 15 Walnut has its act together much more then Maggie's Farm or Hale Street Tavern. We went there on a Friday night without reservations and only waited about 20 minutes, which is not bad at all. I got their burger, which was very tasty. My date got the Risotto and she thought it was very flavorful. I only give it 4 stars because the prices are a little steep, however I know its in Hamilton and the rent is probably very high in this plaza.

I'd give it half a star if I could. I may have already reviewed this place but a conversation with my mum, who recently dined there, got me fired up all over again. I just don't get why people like this place. I've been three times and sent each meal back (haddock that smelled rank to a simple quesadilla that was nothing but dark, sketchy meat). We always sit at the bar and the service is hit or miss. My mum ordered a pasta dish and the pasta was half cooked ("clumped together") and she said the sauce tasted like dishwater. Now she can be harsh (gee, wonder where I get it from) but when she asked to order a salad instead, the lettuce was partially frozen!!?? Seriously? I do like the decor....maybe it's because my friend built the original bar but honestly, people....the sub-par food has nothing to do with whether you lived there or not (*disclaimer - it's my home town). It's just not good.

Great Place Went with my wife and mother in law and had an awesome meal. They got the 15 Walnut Salad which they loved. I got the antipasto (they let you choose 3 items from an antipasto list). I got provolone, which was fried into a golden circle patty, fresh beets, and fried artichokes. The provolone was awesome. The beets tasted like they were just picked today and the friend artichokes were amazing. The host said they have a "farm to table" policy where they like to buy everything local. I wanted the Braised Beef entree but they were out of it, because they don't over order anything. They order all local stuff. So i settled for the NY Pizza and my wife and mother in law split the proscuitto and caramelized onion pizza. Theirs was topped with greens drizzled in balsamic vinegar too. The NY pizza had 3 or 4 different meats on it. Both were perfect for 2 people to eat. They were both amazing. We'll definitely go back and try the entree's but just having antipasto and a pizza was perfect too. Good to sit at the bar and have that with a few drinks. Great atmosphere. Bistro type decor. In a strip mall which you wouldn't know once you go in there. Nice open kitchen too. We'll definitely go back

Excellent meal and staff at 15 Walnut! I went with a friend and we started out with the pulled pork quesadilla - which was absolutely Delicious. I was planning on getting the Tenderloin au poive, but the pulled pork was so good I started to second guess my choice. I ordered the Tenderloin, but ended up ordering a pulled pork entree to go. My friend ordered the "bell and evans" lemon rubbed chicken that was prepared perfectly. Crispy on the outside and unbelievably moist on the inside. The sides were excellent, between the two of us we had whipped potatoes, mac n cheese, and oven veggie. All of them were fantastic. Looking forward to going back their soon!

We live locally, and it's convenient, so we have been many times over the past several years. The atmosphere is great - the expanded bar is beautiful. Really nice taste and creative décor - classic, not too trendy, yet very cool and artistic. They changed the menu a while back and it includes more mainstream items (edamame, ahi tuna, blah blah) and they seem to have strayed from their claim of local and sustainable (edamame = China, really?) That said, what we have experienced since the menu change has been actually quite good - more variety, and has been more enjoyable from past experiences. If you are a foodie, and looking for different, there is nothing spectacular about this place, but it is very good. The service, at one time, was, um, a wee bit snotty, but service last several visits has been excellent. We look forward to going back in the summer to hopefully experience more local flavor.

This review is only based on the BBQ ribs with broccoli, cornbread, and mac & cheese. The Vermont cheddar mac & cheese was delicious. We got takeout, and neither my boyfriend nor I cared for the BBQ. Broccoli & cornbread was OK. But the meat, while juicy, had no flavor and the sauce wasn't that good...Tennessee's is much better for BBQ. The 3 stars is for the mac & cheese & the service, which was super friendly. I definately want to go back & try something else.

What a difference a year makes! Okay, having been given a gift certificate we decided to give 15 Walnut another shot. Went on a Saturday nite around 6:30, the place was packed but we found the last 2 seats at the bar, which is my SOP anyway. The antipasto was fabulous, an a la carte assortment that for me included fresh grilled beets, amazing hummus, and fried chick peas. I was already a fan by then, but the ahi seared tuna with squash and vegetables as sides were phenomenal. Wine was good, service was great, we'll go back, could even become regulars. ps - Thanks, Matt. :)

Indigo Bar and Grill is a small hidden gem in the North Shore. The service was professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. Their decor is contemporary and comfortable. Now to the food: We ordered diet cokes (the greatest soft drink), seared ahi tuna (starter), Indigo BBQ dinner platter, Hawaiian black lava salt dusted filet mignon, the braised short rib, and the apple crisp (dessert). Their prices are slightly expensive but WELL worth it. I highly recommend the braised short ribs. It was a perfect blend of winter squash mousse, swiss chard, and a huge tender slab of meaty goodness. The only regret was the apple crisp. It sucked and I told the waitress that, which I normally do not do--telling the truth. One side note: indigo has a burger that incorporates ground kobe beef. why do people or restaurants want to GROUND KOBE BEEF!!! It's like ordering steak WELL DONE! Respect the cows and don't bastardize them.

Really nice experience. We had an early reservation last Friday evening... 5:30. Among we four was my grandson who was 3 that day. Hostess greeted us and immediately seated us in a roomy booth near the bar. We were watered, then attended by a waitress taking drinks orders. In the waitress's banter with the little boy he told her it was his birthday. Somehow he indicated what he would like was an orange sandwich. After drinks were served, a little sandwich with sliced orange appeared! We ordered from the small plates menu: including a little souffle, cured salmon, and had a pizza... a little buffet. Every bite was delicious. We topped it off with a perfect deep chocolate cake with cinnamon ice cream and delectable chocolate sauce, adorned by a candle. As indicated, staff was welcoming and nice, and it was clear that Friday evening gatherers at the bar were happy campers. Fun!

Both my husband and I like 15 Walnut very much. It's close to our house, casual enough so we don't have to usually spend much time or effort (if any) to get ready and they can usually accommodate us without a reservation although we do make one if we're going on a weekend night after 7. The food is VERY good. The menu changes frequently enough so we don't get tired of it. The best thing (at least, for me) is the "small dish" and/or "choose 3" options. Kind of Tapas style so you can order several things in small quantities. Lends itself to more experimentation so if you don't like one thing, the whole meal isn't a bust. Also love this approach because while I love to eat, I get full easily so a full-sized entree is either wasted on me because I only eat some of it or I eat it all and am uncomfortable full. They use locally grown food (vegetables). All fish is fresh-no frozen. I took my cousin who has a severe case of celiac disease and HAS to eat all-gluten free. She lives in NYC so has many restaurants to choose from but when she asked the waitress at 15 Walnut if either of the 2 dishes she was considering had been even cooked in a pan that had been previously used to cook food w/gluten, the waitress asked the chef and he said one had been and he suggested the other (and 2 more options). She said she rarely gets such honesty in more expensive NYC restaurants.

The food was excellent and there was something for everyone on the menu. The fries in particular were a great hit. Well, for a start, the place needs work on service and ambience. We had an advance reservation and were seated in the noisy bar area at a 'high top' table, despite mentioning a birthday celebration. The cocktails were quite nice but the waitress immediately began hovering to take our food order. We found the salad courses acceptable, the entrees marginal and the unimaginative wine list added no complimentary value to the food. We sat with soiled dishes and glasses in front of us for at least 15 min after eating until I asked for the dessert menus. The dessert was even more disappointing, more suited to a Friendly's! Too bad this restaurant, even though convenient to home, will force us to travel further for dining out.

My wife had gone previously and we had a gift certificate so weheaded there after a long work day. We were seated promptly in a 'sweetheart's" type table which was very accommodating. The hostess said it would be quieter than the othe tables available very nice touch. Our server was polite offering suggestions as I was a first timer with our drinks and dinners. After a long debate, I went with the Farmer's board. A combination of vegetable Rattatouille, White bean soup and a nice fresh salad. I couldn't have been happier with my choice. My wife had a wedge salad and a delicious gnochi in a light sauce. Pleasantly surprised since it location in oh-so swish Hamilton but in a strip mall. Who knew Hamilton even allowed strip malls. The customers were a mixed of local residents who appeared corporate working upper class, but i didnt feel snobbish vibe at all. I saw another review refer to it as trendy rustic. They have a tv with sports so they;re not trying to be hip. I would suggest you try it out and see for yourselves.

This place is a good find (we had dinner). It's mid-priced for the area. Overall, the service and food were excellent, and that is why we are now fans. We ordered a seasonal appetizer, white bean casserole, which was excellent for a cold night. My husband had the broiled haddock. It was to his liking, not crazy buttery like some haddock you get around here. It was light and flaky. I had the beef tenderloin with mashed potatoes and seasonal veggies. The beef was perfectly cooked medium well. The potatoes were like I would make, and the veggies were good. I probably would not pay $5 for an extra side dish, and I would say the proportion of the appetizer was small.

My wife and I live in the area and ate here for the first time today. We both really enjoyed our experience. We went in the mid-afternoon and therefore we were the only ones in the restaurant. I had their haddock burrito and my wife had their hamburger. We also shared a bowl of their local spinach soup. The soup was the only thing that we thought could have been better; it was just slightly too tangy. Other than this, my haddock burrito was bursting with flavor and was absolutely incredible! I love a good burger when I can find one, so I tried my wife's burger and thought it was really good. It never ceases to amaze me how so many restaurant's fail to season their hamburger meat resulting in a burger that has no flavor. This was not the case at 15 Walnut Local Bistro. The burger was wonderfully flavored and served on a fantastically soft and delicious bun. I'll definitely be coming back to this local find.

do. not. want. i'm all for a restaurant that aims to only serve local, fresh, and anti-mass nasty produced meats. but sometimes, these overly zealous restaurants do fall sort...kind of like the way that the raw movement is falling kind of short. so we sit down at this cute little restaurant in a strip mall. i have high hopes, because i'm all for locally produced, grass fed everything. cute little booth. nice area. very interesting art on the walls, as if the art director in beetle juice decided he wanted to paint tomatoes as sandworm art. so we order a few simple things. 1) buffalo wings. result: they were out of bufflo wings. hmm. well, it is a restaurant based on fresh produce. 2) french onion soup. result: wtf. i am a french onion soup connoisseur. if i were on death row, this is my order. a hot crock of cheesy, melty, bready, oniony, beefy soup. this "innovative" impostor arrived. an asian style, more than likely not-broiler-safe white bowl, on a separate plate with black napkin, a dozen or so little square croutons (to their credit, they probably made them in house), a slice of gruyere (as opposed to the necessary bubbly mound), and an overly sweet, toooooo caramelized onion mess. overall way too sweet. cloyingly sweet. i know what french onion soup looks like and tastes like. beefy onion broth, old school crock, bread, oozy cheese that's been under the broiler. boiling hot, dig in. this, my friends, was not that. it was somebody trying to get away from that, and not only NOT producing something better, but insulting the original to boot. i'm sensitive to the bastardization of any onion soup. i really love french onion soup. 3) salad with chicken and walnuts. this salad, i remember had some seriously succulent chicken. and some tasty greens, and a decent dressing. honestly, i was still too disappointed in the soup to give an honest assessment of the salad. but i would probably give the salad another go... until... 4) my bigger half ordered the burger. result: nice grass fed beef... put on a poorly proportioned brioche type thing. too much bread, too much butter, no mustard, and ... that nasty caramelized onion mixture that i recognized from that unforgivable french onion soup. meh. have experienced better on all items ordered. bummer.

After spending a lovely day in Ipswich with our daughter and her family, we were looking for a place to dine. She suggested 15 Walnut, having heard a great deal about it. They try to use local produce and cheeses. From the moment that we walked in, we were comfortable. The interior design is warm and the booths and tables are nicely sized and spaced well from each other. The kitchen boasts a great open hearth oven, so I imagine the pizzas must be delic! I started with the mesclun salad with candied walnuts and wonderful local goat cheese. The dressing, an herb vinaigrette was excellent! Full of oregano, tarragon and rosemary, I wanted to lick the cup! For dinner, I had the scallops which were flavorful and well-seasoned and nicely cooked.Topped off with a cappuccino, it was hard to remember that it was a Monday night, not a Saturday! My husband had the onion soup, which was not to his taste, but he loved the pulled pork~cooked to perfection without the sauce being too heavy or rich! He loved the escarole and the delicious beans~all locally grown. Our server, Debbie, was lovely and accommodating to all our needs.This is really a hidden gem, located in a cute little shopping center right off 1A. We can't wait to go back. We live in Boston and have the choice of many terrific places to eat~15 Walnut is on par with many of the nicest!

I had dinner with Mom last night at Indigo, and was pleasantly surprised. The interior is somewhat modern, but at the same time cozy and unpretentious. The booths are big and comfortable which we always like. Mom drank red wine and I ordered the Harvest Martini - amazing! My martini was a blend of vodka, apple cider, pomegranate liquer, and champagne, with a cinnamon sugar rim - I would go back just for this martini! They had a pretty creative martini list and a large selection of wines. I found the menu to be a little confusing however - there were more appetizers on page 2 of the menu, which I did not see until I had already ordered an app. Also, the entrée selections were a bit limited (no beef on the menu - just buffalo). I ordered the pulled pork quesadilla to start, which Mom didn't seem to excited about at first, but she ended up loving it (as did I, but I am partial to pulled pork anyways). It came with fresh salsa, guac, and sour cream. We ate half and took the rest to go (I was later disappointed to find that there were no condiments in the take out box - oh well). For our entrees, I ordered the bacon-wrapped buffalo. I was slightly apprehensive at first, having never tried buffalo before, but it was quite delicious and beautifully presented with a large grilled onion (mmm onions!) and asparagus. Mom tried the scallops with pumpkin risotto (and coconut foam?). The risotto was out-of-this-world. She was concerned that it would be too sweet, but that was not the case. I finished almost all of my buffalo, and asked to wrap up Mom's leftover scallops and risotto - which we never got - but I guess I'll get over it... someday. We skipped dessert. Overall - good service, good food, quirky menu. I will be coming back to Indigo.
