My boyfriend took me here as a birthday present last summer and It was just the most amazing experience! First, let's talk about how BEAUTIFUL this place is! It's on the opposite side of the island away from the touristy towns (Edgartown, Oak Bluffs, etc). Chillmark is absolutely charming and relaxing, we felt like we were away from all the tourists. The house is charming with a lived in, cozy feel. We felt so welcome! The grounds are also beautiful! There is an organic vegetable garden you can help yourself from...delicious. There are also breathtaking--an overused word I know, but it this case it applies--views of the ocean and Gay Head Light House. The grounds also have a path that leads straight to the beach where you can see the beautiful red clay cliffs of Aquinnah. Our room was on the 2nd floor and had a balcony. The duck decor everywhere was adorable. We loved to sit on our balcony and have wine or lunch. The hot tub was great too! Elise, the inn keeper, was a lovely woman and her breakfast making skills are out of this world! She incorporates a lot of whole grains and fruits and vegetables to create these amazing hearty meals that will give you all the energy you need to go and explore the island. It was a dream to stay there and I can't wait to go back!

The setting is oh so beautiful. I can hear the ocean from one of several balconies. The decor is warm and cozy with lots of personality and the breakfast is to die for. Elise prepares with organic ingredients and fair trade in mind. A healthy and friendly atmosphere. Can't wait to go back.

This is my sanctuary from the world; quiet, serene, listening to the crickets & ocean waves at night. The breakfasts! OMG carry me though to dinner. Aquinnah is far from the other towns (30 min drive) so plan accordingly. The liquor stores do deliver with enough advance notice, and there are a few restaurants not so far away, but you are out in the country. Love sitting in the hot tub at night watching the stars. This is an old house so you might hear noise from other rooms or when breakfast gets going, but I travel with earplugs & a mask so not a thing for me. Elise is welcoming & has tips for everything you can think of. Free wifi, amazing water & sunset views (except from the downstairs stone-wall room) and blissful calm. There is no AC but mostly it's not needed, and mini fridges in many rooms, bring a small cooler for a day at the beach, a beach towel, good walking shoes, and de-com-press.

As Graham agreed with Aretha, I just have to echo both of them. The Duck Inn is as charming as scenic as it gets on the Vineyard. My gf and I got a small room upstairs with a balcony and breathtaking views of the Atlantic. Our room was a bit small, but just had a really homey feel to it. Elise, the inn keeper, is a doll and really friendly and helpful. One of the more interesting parts of the trip was to sit down with her and other guests of the inn at the breakfast table, eat the delicious breakfast they make in front of your eyes and chit-chat with Elise and the other guests. They also have their own private path that takes you right to Moshup Beach. The Outermost Inn, which serves the best dinner on the Vineyard, is a 2 minute car ride. I just remember driving through the long gravel path and walking up to the house a bit skeptical. But once we came upon our last day their, I wasn't ready to leave at all! Just a really fantastic inn. Just an FYI - they don't have Wi-Fi and cell reception is terrible, so expect to 'unplug' the days you're there.

What's to say about the Duck Inn and its fantastic homeowner, Elise. I could sprawl several paragraphs here about the fantastic experience my wife and I had here for our vacation to the Vineyard. The Duck Inn is set in a private location away from the hustle of the rest of the Vineyard. You won't find a "high class" resort at the Inn. What you will find? Charm, warmth, care and a home. Never have I walked into a vacation stay and felt so invited as if I was entering the home of a close relative or even my own. There is a whimsical duck motif and Elise prepares and shares a delicious organic breakfast. Enough can't be said about Elise and her wonderful nature. The special features of the property have been listed in the reviews. The walk to the beach and the food stops near the lighthouse are fantastic bonuses.

This is a very unique, completely awesome bed and breakfast. Elise, the inn keeper, is very inviting and accomodating. She very much favors the duck motif! It's charming and not at all tacky. The house itself is quite unique in feel and structure. There is sprawling field surrounding the Inn, and beach access. Breakfast is FANTASTIC!!

I totally agree with Aretha's review. This inn is in an amazing location set out in a large field. It's comfortable and charming. Breakfast is crazy good -Elise is a wonderful cook and fascinating person to talk to. Love this place and would go back in a heartbeat. I recommend the upstairs rooms as a couple of them have balconies.
