Ate here last night. Food was good. Husband and Kid had beef enchiladas, they loved them. I have chicken enchiladas, not amazing. Salsa and quest was good and waiter was pleasant but not very attentive, but was a Saturday night. One of 2 actual Mexican food places in Opelousas so it's number 1 for the area;) I'm a Texan so pretty picky. Overall, ok place. Not great but not terrible.

I would have never thought there would be an authentic Mexican restaurant in Opelousas, but hot dog there is one. This place is the real deal. I was impressed from the time I walked into the door with my family. They do not speak fluent English so this makes ordering rather difficult. Thank goodness my son knows Spanish. My mom, daughter and myself ordered the chicken and steak fajitas, which was amazing! One of my sons ordered the quesadillas and the other one had steak with shrimp. The serving sizes where unbelievable. The staff is always accommodating, and they get it right every time. They have a polite wait staff and really yummy food. I will be returning again! This place has been added to my "must go back" list.

Everytime and I mean every...single...time I visit this friendly restaurant I enjoy my experience. The people here make you feel right at home. The pork tamales are terrific. I add jalapeños and Pico to mine just to spice it up a bit. Love love La Hacienda!

You know what burns my ass? Orangeheads like Anthony that have one F ing review, 0 friends and get on here just to trash a place, but have no credibility whatsoever as they just joined Yelp to trash this particular restaurant. And worse, to say that if you ate here and liked it, then you're a dumb shit. Well lemme tell you, I lived in Dallas for 26 years and have eaten at at least 100 Mexican places there and in other states and this joint in Opelousas is pretty decent. It's family owned, the food is fresh, the service is good and the margaritas drinkable. And I think that is saying a lot for a Mex place in Opelousas. four stars. easy.

Sunday Afternoon Restaurants This is a great place to have a Sunday lunch after church service. Festive colors splash the tables and walls of this family-friendly restaurant. On our first visit, service was fantastic and fast. The food was delicious with generous portions.

I eat at this restaurant for lunch at least once a week, and every three months or so gather there with friends for drinks and dinner. I can say that I have never had a bad experience here. The food is great. The owners and staff are exceptionally friendly. The prices are good. Definitely will continue to go back.

This place is pretty good for Opelousas! Chips and salsa are tasty. Good lunch specials and the fajitas were delicious! Good service, too! We'll be back!

Hands down the absolute best food I have ever had outside of my own kitchen ! Guacamole was perfect. Fresh and delicious. The fajitas for two were amazing! Plenty for me and my lunch buddies to split ! And I'm not a refried beans person but these blew me away. Completely homemade and I actually enjoyed them for once ! Absolutely the best Mexican I have had in a long time !

Very good authentic Mexican food. We found this place by Yelping it. The staff were very attentive and accommodating to everyone's requests. My boys loved the Flautas and oldest daughter went big with the Carne Asada plate and my wife had a vegetarian fajitas and I had shrimp fajitas (we both skipped the beans and rice trying to be carb-free). So we loved this place and would come back. Excellent flavors!

The food is awesome! The service is quick. The people are very welcoming. Let them know it's your birthday and you will be in for a fun surprise. Lol. The one is Lafayette is also good, but this location is my favorite.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
