Pretty good hot dog, and tried some of the toppings like bbq sauce and chili...tasted great. Just wished the hot dog was a little thicker (since price was $7) but if u get more toppings then theres a little better value. Overall a great addition to food court and this place was busy, a good sign.
Mall food has become upgraded. I have tried other Dat Dog locations, and the dogs are just as good. The service is typical mall service, so the atmosphere will leave a lot to be desired, as it is in the food court. Don't expect stellar service from a mall. I got my crawfish dog (ketchup and mustard only) to go. I would suggest going to one of their other locations. They do have beer on tap here!!!!

I visit the New Orleans area often. I usually go to the uptown location of Dat Dog but when I went on a trip to Lakeside I saw they had opened one there. I couldn't resist and got my usual duck special and it was every bit as good as the other one. The staff was very nice and friendly. I wish they would open one near me.

The food here is EXACTLY like the food at all the other locations. I even ordered my usual order of a Guinness Special Dog, Werewolf Dog, and Crawfish Étouffée Fries (not all just for me of course) just like I do at the Freret location and everything came out identical in both quality and quantity. They even offer a few draft beers, which is a unique entity to the very sober lakeside food court area. The customer service was the only thing that made this a very tedious food ordering experience. The man at the register just couldn't seem to get it together. We were only 3rd in line on a Saturday afternoon and each person in front of us spent at least 10 minutes at the register putting in their orders. I figured I would give him the benefit of the doubt and assume the hold up had to do with numerous complex food orders or perhaps a technical issue. But nope....it was just him. It took him several minutes to find each button on the computer screen to put in the order. "You want a coke? Ok, hold on please.....*2 minutes pass*.....Do you want 2 cokes? Ok, hold on please....*2 more minutes pass*...." It went on and on just like this throughout the whole food ordering process. It was certainly the longest amount of time I've ever spent ordering 2 hot dogs and a side of fries. However, I have to note that once he was eventually able to put the food order IN the computer, the food was actually made and delivered in a very timely manner. So everyone else working behind the counter was definitely efficient and on point. Most of the time they looked like they were just standing there waiting for the guy at the register to figure out how to put in the next order. It was abundantly apparent that the man at the register was just holding up the whole process single handedly. If we had been further back in the line, I don't think we would have made it to the front. We probably would have just grown too impatient and it looked like many people felt the same way and moved onto other food vendors. Bottom line: I love the food at Dat Dog and I'll always be a fan but they should probably be working BOTH registers on a busy Saturday afternoon at lakeside mall. If for nothing else, for their own safety since Metry mall goers could become a very dangerous species when "hangry"!
