I heard a lot of good things about this place from Yelp. However, I was disappointed. My burrito was delicious but cold. The women working behind the counter were not "clean" looking.

  • Andrea B.

Smoked duck burrito was out of this world. Chicken chili was spicy and warm, perfect for a rainy day. Service was friendly and helpful. Only downside was that we had to eat in our car....no indoor seating and too wet to sit outside.

  • Julie B.

Friendly, helpful and fast! It's a refreshing change with a healthy light lunch compared to most places in south Louisiana. Though I would have preferred the tuna grilled rather than smoked; maybe next time I'll try the shrimp instead.

Really good food!! Fresh toppings and tasty sauces. Had the BBQ brisket tacos and they were outstanding. I recommend this for a quick lunch anytime!!!

YUMM Taco Sisters! Taco Sister is located right next to ULL campus. The location is prime but the traffic is horrible. It is a decked out yellow shack with a drive-thru that offers picnic tables outside as seating. This was my second time visiting this establishment, and I ordered the smoked pork bbq burrito, smoked brisket burrito, and the fish tacos. After ordering I read the menu in more detail and realized that the burritos contained only meat, beans, and cheese. So you may want to keep that in mind if you like fresh veggies on tacos! The fish tacos were FANTASTIC. I will definitely be back just for fish tacos. They were juicy, flavorful, and topped off with pico de gallo that contained apple bits. It was hands down one of the best fish tacos I have ever eaten. The brisket burrito was also good, it was very moist and soft. However, the smoked pork bbq was not hitting the spot for me... It was very dry and flavorless! I was very disappointed (hence the loss of one star).

  • Alex E.

Delicious fresh ingredients. Pork with jalapeños and jalapeño ranch sauce gets two thumbs up. Nice area outside for some fresh air. The feel is friendly and the staff is kind. Great visit.

  • Richy N.

Friendly staff and a bright orange building. Oh, and the food is good too. Had the brisket burrito and chicken taco. Delectable. Noms.

  • Spencer H.

I had the fish taco's and they were the best part of my experience. This little place is a good place to try and who knows, maybe you will fall in love with it. I thought the drive thru situation was dangerous and the ordering process was difficult to understand for a first timer.

  • A D.

While driving from Houston to New Orleans, I found this taco stand on Yelp with amazing reviews that was not too far off the beaten path. And...I am so glad that I did!!! The brisket burrito was incredible...hands down the most amazing burrito that has ever entered my mouth. Amazing!

    (5)
  • Ramin P.

The food is very good. I have had the fish tacos the shrimp tacos and the brisket tacos, all of which were very delicious. The only reason that I did not give this place five stars is because I found that the food was a little overpriced.

    (4)
  • Colleen R.

Smoked meats make a darn good salad. This little taco shack, probably a drive-thru daiquiri hut in a past life, has been reincarnated on a little stretch of Johnston Street near downtown Lafayette. The salads are a great option for those of us who can't eat tacos everyday, and when combined with a slice of avocado, the pulled smoked chicken is out of this world! Lunch only.

    (5)
  • Jimmie P.

Overall, very good. Mammoth? I think not. Overpriced? Just a tad. The quality is definitely there however being a Mexican from the San Antonio/Austin TX area this place could use bigger portions and some Spanish rice and some real hot sauce. The tastiest Mexicanish food in Louisiana so far, but the quest continues. I'm leaving hungry for more.

    (3)
  • Ky S.

Gave this place a try on our way home from the Children's museum. The fish tacos were outstanding! We also tried the shrimp tacos which I thought were very good. My Dad had the brisket and was more than pleased (that means a lot from him). One taco wasn't enough but 2 was more than plenty!

    (5)
  • Jeff G.

Yuppified overpriced Mexican food for the college crowd. The ghastly abomination that they call "fish tacos" are to be avoided at all costs. If you have any idea of what authentic Mexican food tastes like, you'll want to give this spot a wide berth. Go to LaPagua on Johnston Street instead.

  • April D.

I never knew apples and shrimp could go so well together, these tacos have the most exotic blends of Louisiana spices, vegetables and fruits. A truly unique taste. a little pricey but certainly worth the money

    (5)
  • Johnna M.

Yum Yum & Yummier. Their brisket taco is out of this world! They are unique in that the "lettuce" isn't just lettuce. It's more of a spring salad with celery, carrot, apple and who knows what else. It sounds weird but trust me, it works! I can't wait to go back and try the shrimp! Please note: these are not traditional tacos. This isn't even Mexican. This is more like southern bbq with a twist, but that doesn't mean it's not delicious!

    (5)
  • Jill S.

I couldn't decide between the veggie and the smoked shrimp, so I got both and figured I'd eat half and half (they're pretty big). I started with the smoked shrimp, forced myself to put it down so I could try the veggie, failed to stop at halfway and finished both. And then licked the aluminum foil. I've never had shrimp with such an amazing smokey flavor! It may be drive-through, but do not confuse this with "easy to eat in the car". Especially not while driving. I'm not saying I won't do it again.

  • Danny C.

Lafayette has a new little gem here. Their tacos are expertly made with fresh, high quality ingredients and are absolutely delicious. This was my first time picking up fish, shrimp, pork, and brisket tacos from this cute little orangish establishment. While they were all excellent, my favorite was the shrimp taco. The awesome flavor of those smoked shrimp complemented perfectly by their greens mix and the fresh flour tortilla results in a gastronomic celebration which left my tummy very happy!

  • Charles J.

There are outdoor tables but primary is drive thru. Fish and pork tacos are very good.

    (3)
  • Sean C.

I really enjoyed this place. now don't expect it to be mexican style, it's more like cali style tacos. They're all pretty messy but juicy. I don't usually like fish tacos but they raved about it so I gave it a try. Fresh and pretty tasty, but I don't think I'll be getting it often. The brisket was the best for me but the chicken was very good too. Glad to see some small businesses grab a foothold in lafayette, hope this place flurishes. the advertising on 1420 really worked because it got me there.

Great "smoky" burritos with smoked brisket or chicken. I'm from Texas take burritos seriously, this place gets my stamp of approval.

    (4)
  • D T.

Very tasty fancy burrito place. I got a vegetarian taco with a gluten-free tortilla, with some beans added, and it was highly enjoyable! There was a delicious apple cabbage salsa thing in there that was divine.

  • juliet k.

I love their smoked brisket taco as well as the shrimp taco and they were both wonderful. Get the pico instead of tomatoes and add a sprinkle of cheddar cheese.

i am ADDICTED! i tried taco sisters for the 1st time last week. since then, i've been 5 times in the last two weeks. their food is amazing, delicious, and fresh....and great service- super friendly. they are local and support local. brisket taco is sooooooo good. brisket salad w/ soy ginger dressing is the BEST salad i've EVER EVER had. brisket burrito & shrimp burrito is awesome as well. LOVE them!!!!!

  • Ashlee B.

Good! I was looking for a taco place and found out about Taco Sisters from Yelp. I've had the smoked chicken tacos and burrito. Both were very tasty and I will go back. I like sauce so I'd suggest more on both besides that the meat was great, the lettuce was crisp, pico was fresh, green onions crisp and the chopped apple was a pleasant surprise.

Smoked seafood tacos...need I say more? Good For: anything this place has to offer, southern style tacos

    (5)
  • Daniel M.

Absolutely fantastic food. So far I've tried the shredded pork salad, shrimp taco, and shredded chicken taco. Fresh ingredients, fast service. YUM!!!

    (5)
  • Adam M.

Friendly owners, amazing food! Try the fish taco, add guac, with jalapeno ranch! Probably the best thing you've ever tasted!

    (5)
  • Barry B.

I really enjoyed what I had went I visited Taco Sisters but I was to very surprised with how expensive tacos could get. With only outdoor seating and a small drive through, one would think the prices would fit the overall style and feel. I do see myself going back, but not as frequently as I would like.

  • Shane G.

Brisket burrito is da bomb! Friendly staff and fresh products!

    (4)
  • Jaci R.

unbelievably great tacos. fresh ingredients - they don't even have a freezer - prepared with loving care. the first time I ordered I asked to add cheese, there was a polite pause before they asked me to try it the way they prepared it first and if i didn't like it then they would alter it. They were right! It was AWESOME!

    (5)
  • Leah M.

One of my absolute favorite restaurants in Laffy (and I don't have many). Fresh, quality ingredients. Delish!

  • Michael M.

I love this place. Everyone is friendly and the food is great. I love the salads and the smoked brisket Barrito! Parking sucks but it's manageable and is to go anyway.

    (5)
  • Michael E.

Interesting. By no means are they traditional tacos, but they were nonetheless tasty. Chips are not homemade but rather bagged, which was different. By the look of the place I was expecting traditional tacos but was pleasently surprised. I'll go back. Burritos seem to be popular and given the size of the taco, both probably use the same soft shell.

    (4)
  • Samantha D.

I had the veggie burrito, which, in the wrong restaurant's hands, can be pretty bland. But, here, it was so flavorful! I was almost tempted to order seconds. Fast, fresh, good sized portions, and decent prices. I have nothing but good things to say about this place!

    (5)
  • Sheil K.

Great tacos! I ordered three thinking they would be regular size and shape paid a hefty $19 with additional toppings but that's because they're huge 1 taco would suffice most! Good selection of protein - mostly smoked but delicious and fresh.

  • Jennifer L.

Yearly trip to the Lafayette airport means yearly trip to Taco Sisters. This year got the brisket burrito with apples and cilantro. So good.

    (5)
  • Tj D.

Great tacos! With that being said why are we charging so much for a taco. It's way over priced. I just can't enjoy a taco when I am being charged so much.

  • Stephen D.

Sorely needed in the flats, glad someone took the initiative to install Lafayette's own version of tex-mex fusion. Very nice offerings including wild game and seafood galore. Moderately priced, decent servings, friendly staff, funky atmosphere and lovely sitting area - I usually make this a lunch stop to catch up with old friends when I visit my hometown. Are they the best tacos ever? no. Are they damn good? yes. Unlike the countless other one and done "Blah-blah-blah w/ a TWIST!!!" openings, this was/is something wholly unique specializing in fresh and LOCAL ingredients, and from the looks of things they conduct business with a conscience. I applaud their efforts and wish them success, They've got a repeat business customer in me for the foreseeable future. Hope this helps.

  • Stephen R.

This place has good tacos with really fresh ingredients. All the meats are smoked, which makes them a little salty, but still good. The chopped apples are a brilliant add on and really give the tacos a sweet and fresh taste. Special sauce is good too. You can't go wrong here. It's fairly cheap too as long as you don't spend too much extra on sides/drinks, etc. The tacos can make for a pretty messy lunch. I've never managed to eat one without getting completely drenched. But they sure are good.

    (5)
  • Kimberley W.

Yeah this was good. Very casual, no dining room but picnic tables. Really tasty ground beef taco and tuna taco with gluten free tortilla, however $1 extra charge for gf tortilla I thought was a bit steep. Nice people.

    (4)
  • Katie S.

Love love love their pork tacos! Butttt, it's very over priced!! Their secret sauce is great but if you don't ask for "light sauce" it is drowning in it. My boyfriend loves the lettuce/Apple mixture they put on the tacos. Wish their drinks were bigger. Great place over all. Need to get more affordable!!!!

    (4)
  • Carolyn B.

Fun, relaxing outdoor venue with a funky, cultural vibe. Unfortunately, the hours are a bit inconvenient! The place would be a definite regular for me if they were open on Sundays. The tacos can be a bit messy, so grab extra napkins and dress for the occasion. Also try their burritos--they are definitely fresher and higher quality than the other chain joints in town.

    (3)
  • James F.

This place is great, but it's important to know beforehand that it's either a drive-through or you pick up at the window seat outside. So while I love it, I would never recommend on a rainy day. That being said they really need versions of tacos whatever kind of meat you can imagine. Beef, pork, brisket, fish, and occasionally have other specials. I really love this place.

Came here a day ago looking for some good tacos. Going through the reviews I expected better. First off beware, the parking is terrible. I made the mistake of parking in the lot which I was blocked in by cars going through the drive through. I'm not faulting the place as it's a problem created by their own success, which didn't impact this review at all. It's all about the food. A quick note about ambience here too: This is the first time in the 2 weeks I've been here that i didn't feel like I was in Louisiana. It felt like a corner of Portland: Ironic mustaches, younger college kids looking semi homeless, and bright colors, and signs that say vegan. The sitting area is simple benches which fit well with this small taco shack. Had a smoked fish burrito, no extra sauces with avocado and black beans. Maybe this is where I messed up because the person at the counter asked me about sauces and i did overhear others adding them. The flavor of the fish was good and smoky, however the combination of the cheese plus the black bean made it fairly dry. It was hard to find the avocado, and I thought the burrito was only black beans but I found refried in there as well, which is not what I asked for. It did add a welcome lardy flavor to it, but it still was a dry burrito. Value: For $11 with burrito and a drink, I could have done much better. I'm willing to give this place another try and go with something more traditional and add a sauce, but for now this isn't on my list of must eats in the area.

  • Leia K.

Their tacos are delicious. Very clean and light. Their fruits and vegetables are fresh. Their meats are well seasoned. They have an impressive selection of condiments. Tacos are good! Their hours are terrible--only for lunch!? Also their location poses as a road hazard by creating traffic on the major road, Johnston.

  • Judd J.

I love Taco Sisters. More than love, really. More like an addiction. I pick up lunch here at least once a week, sometimes 2 or three days in a row. I admit it - i have a problem. Everything is good, although I stick with the tacos. The brisket taco is amazing, as is the shrimp, but the fish taco is my go to, my lunch soul mate. Smoked tuna? Heck yeah, and add some pico and avocado to round it out. (The fiesta summer salad is great too.) Fresh, fresh, fresh - and usually devoured before I get back to the office.

  • Eureeka S.

Mmmm - this place is LEGIT. The quality of all ingredients is very apparent, the burritos are mammoth, the tacos are perfect (apple chunks in tacos = YES), the outdoor seating is adorable, the service is top-notch & the location is conveniently close to the downtown area (for festivals & such). My faves are the veggie taco & the smoked fish taco. Someone with a modest appetite could easily stretch 1 burrito into 2 meals. The salads are a bit pricey, but you're paying for good quality. The chicken taco is not my favorite, but is still pretty darn good. My advice would be to miss the insane lunch rush by getting there right at 11a or by waiting until things calm down a little at 1-ish. Otherwise, wait time may be a little crazy & parking may be quite a challenge. Feel free to bring your dog & lounge in the grassy area while waiting for your food to be ready.

Had work today in Scott,La. Went by at noon and got the Briscuit burrito and let me tell you it was great. Went thru the drive thru and it moved smoothly. Place was nice and easy to find. Price was very reasonable for the sizes. Had a shrimp taco also and it was seasoned spot on. Burrito or taco and you'll be set.

  • Alex T.

Tacos are wonderful! Get the fish taco for sure with poco and Guac!

Stopped in for lunch after dropping a patient off at Lafayette General. Needed something quick but wanted something healthier and more unique that fast food. We were pleasantly surprised. Very friendly staff and amazing tacos/burritos. We left very satisfied and refueled. Great spot to go on a nice day and sit outside.

About Taco Bell

Taco Bell is a haven for Mexican delicacies such as tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and other specialty items. Owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. Taco Bell is one of the fastest growing American chains of fast food restaurants. The restaurant operates from 7,072 different locations which are mostly run by independent franchisees and licensees.

The background story of Taco Bell is interesting and inspiring for budding entrepreneurs. The fast-food brand is the brainchild of Glen Bell, who started his first food venture as a hot dog seller in San Bernardino, California. The year was 1948. After witnessing long queues outside a Mexican restaurant called Mitla Café across the street, Bell saw the opportunity and demand for hard-shelled Tacos. He reverse-engineered the recipe and later started selling Tacos and called the venture Taco-Tia.

Later, the name changed from Taco-Tia to El Taco. Eventually, Glen Bell sold the company to his partner and opened the first Taco Bell in Downey in 1962. By 1964, the restaurant also got its first franchise in Torrance. The 100th Taco Bell restaurant was opened by 1965. PepsiCo acquired Taco Bell from Glen Bell in 1978 and the restaurant brand is currently a subsidiary of Yum! Brands which looks after the restaurant business of PepsiCo.
