Man oh man when I want BBQ chicken, this is my first choice, and I always ALWAYS order the BBQ rotisserie chicken, extra dry, extra sauce, with the Thai snap peas (I could eat a quart as a meal) & usually the corn grits (warning: they're calorically dense from fat content but hey, I've long been trying to gain ten pounds--I'm lucky like that I guess). I've never had any problems with a dish or waitstaff--ever, & I've been to this location a lot since it's close to where I live(d). The only problem I ever ran into was overindulging in a combo merlot-Cabernet on the menu and not being able to eat the cheesecake with caramel sauce, so it had to come home with me (because baby, it's gonna get eaten at some point). Lunch or dinner, you can count on it being great. And thanks to the staff here, who are always attentive & pleasant.

This is original Zea location, its very tiny, but fits in with the neighborhood well. They have the same menu as any other Zea, except this location, due to its size, does not have a fryer in the kitchen. They offer wine, but don't think they have a full bar, if they do, I'd be interested to know where they are hiding it! My favorite dishes are the pesto crusted trout - great price at lunch! The panini's are all good and big enough to share with 2 people especially if you get an appetizer. The Mediterranean hummus is a must have appetizer. The corn grits are heavy, but delicious. The braised cabbage, sweet potatoes, thai snap beans are a few of my other favorite sides. A lot of the entrees come with 1 or 2 sides which is nice. I have also never had a problem with service here and the wait for a table is never long if there even is a wait. The staff always seems nice and knowledgeable.

I had the Thai ribs which were really good Had a drink special that was a little too sweet. A peach/pear drink, but that was expected. Our waitress was clearly rushing though, she was all over the place when speaking. A little pricey, but afterall we did have 4 drinks

Don't be fooled: this is not a full service Zea. There is no friend food served here - so that means so seafood basket or french fries. I've gotten the salad and hummus - both are of Zea quality. The dessert was also delicious. This location isn't as big as the other Zea locations, but I've never had a problem getting a table.

The handicap "ramp" outside is worthless. It has a two inch curb. After a struggle with the wheelchair , I had to do battle with bushes that take up half the walkway. The food is great, and the servers are friendly and attentive. Too bad it is such a pain to get inside. ( btw, thx to the cook and the server who came to help with the doors)

I've been to Zea's a couple of times but this last time I got the almond chicken salad which has romaine hearts, grilled chicken, crispy noodles, and sesame seeds. The salad was great - except for the fact that the salad had enough crispy noodles to fill up an additional plate. The noodles were either stale or not cooked all the way or something. They just tasted off. When we arrive at the restaurant it was pretty empty for a Friday at lunch time and was hot and humid inside. After a while the air conditioner kicked on and the restaurant started feeling cool. After we finished eating our lunch and were paying the bill, a waitress came up to us to give us some entrees. It was so bizarre because about 2 minutes later I saw her leave in her car. I would suggest getting the Sedona Chicken Panini, Portobello Veggie Panini or the cheeseburger.

Nice rotisserie veal! Very good service! Waitress on top of refills! Get here early for lunch it gets crowded.

First time eating at this restaurant. We had the grilled trout with shrimp and cream sauce. OMG was this delicious. Serving wasn't too large but just right with the two sides. Building was kind of weird shaped but comfortable. Restaurant temperature was cool. Waiter stated they had new a-c system . Overall the wife and I really enjoyed the visit.

I really like Zea restaurants but this one isn't my favorite location. The service was fine, food was fine, and the atmosphere was fine. All fine but not great. If you're just looking for a less busy Zea for lunch, this one will work. Otherwise, I suggest the Zea locations on Clearview or St. Charles.

I love Zea! The corn grits are fantastic as are the numerous styles of ribs (Thai chili are a personal favorite), and bronzed trout. There are lots of other great things on the menu, but I always end up going back to one of the previously mentioned entrées. It is strange that I never eat anything rotisseried since that a big focus of the menu. They are also very kid friendly. The service is always attentive and thoughtful, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Zea's to anyone based on my experiences there.

Excellent corn grits and grilled duck! They even serve small bottles of champagne, which come in handy when we go there after Saints victories.

Walking in for the first time, we were greeted with a line out the door. There isn't much room to sit and wait while a table opens up. We waited up to 20 mins before we were called upon that our table was ready. The layout seemed cramped since there isn't much room to walk around since the tables were packed so tight to the walls. The staff were super nice. Attentive to our drinks that my drinks have yet to go below half way. She answered all of our questions to the best of her knowledge and professionalism. The food was delicious for what it's worth. I had the 1/2 chicken, 1/2 ribs with a side of the braised cabbage and roasted potatoes. The meal was superb! I give this place a 4 star because of how cramped it is to get around like to and from the restroom for example. I recommend this place for good food and friendly / professional staff

Pretty good experience here. Service was quick, we were seated promptly, and my drink was always full. I had the Honey Island Chicken Sandwich and my wife had the Veggie Platter. Both were good. There was nothing negative about the experience, but nothing that gave me a "wow" factor, so I am giving 4 stars.

This is a wonderful restaurant with great food and service. Any time I've been here through the years, they have been consistently good. I work nearby so my goal is to be in and out for lunch, within 1 hour. Although their parking lot is on the small side, it's not hard to find parking. The food is always fresh and delicious. Today I got their tuna sashimi salad with almonds and peanut vinaigrette. The fish was fresh, almonds were toasted perfectly, the salad was crispy. The service was very fast and attentive, asking if we need anything and refilling tea all the time. It was very affordable too, they have specials for lunch. Highly recommend!

Yuck. We've eaten at other Zea's and it's always been a good experience. The location in Baton Rouge always has spot on food and great service. I wish I could say the same for this Zea's. We have ordered take out twice and it's been a disappointment each time. Last time, I had asked for the chicken in the Casablanca Chicken to be grilled and not blackened because flour makes me sick. Well, the chicken pieces were grilled, as requested but they were also blackened. I had asked the person who rang me up to be sure that the chicken had been grilled and she showed me the ticket from the kitchen. clearly said 'grilled'. The hummus, which is normally very good was terrible... it tasted off and slightly sour. A whole night with a sick stomach later, we are not going back here even though it's within walking distance. Gross.

I have never had a bad meal here. I wish the cafe had a bar selection instead if just wine and beer but I am still always impressed.

This was the first Zea I have eaten at and I gotta say, it was a disappointment. I had a spinach artichoke dip for an appetizer which was decent. My main course was their daily special, a roast with a mushroom and wine sauce. It was OK, but it tasted like something from TGI Fridays. I went with a friend of loves Zea, and even she said this one was not as good. I might try another location, but I will probably never return to this Zea.

We went to this zea's the other night and i ordered the breaux bridge shrimp pasta. It wasn't our server who delivered the entree's but when I saw mine I asked if it was mistakenly an appetizer portion because it was incredibly small. She said no, that's the way it is and that was that. I figured I could say something to our waiter but he never returned to ask how our food was. Not only was the portion small, the shrimp were tiny, at first I didn't even see them. I'm a small female and have never in my life finished a pasta entree, however this was so small that i finished it quickly and spent the rest of the time watching my boyfriend eat his ribs, chicken and 2 sides. Our waiter did return to pick up my empty plate and I was surprised that he didn't mention something like "that was quick" since my boyfriend had clearly only started eating his. But since I had eaten it by this time and I was shot down by the person who delivered it, I didn't feel I could speak up about it. Instead I left still hungry and disappointed. :( The pasta was $13.99 which by Zea standard entree prices is on the low end. If they don't feel they can create an entire entree of pasta at this price, I would much rather they increase the price and make it larger with large shrimp. Would like to think this a fluke but the person delivering the food said this is the size it normally is. I mean really, a large guy would laugh at that portion.

We had a great meal here. I had the Philly panini which was a perfect size and was very good. My husband had the Korean beef tacos and they were fantastic. The kids both had chicken sandwiches which they liked. Overall, fantastic meal, and a bit of a surprise off the beaten path.

Went to Zea's for an early dinner on 2/15/14. It was not busy and although we were seated right away, it was awhile before we were greeted by a server to give our drink order. When she finally came back to take our order, I chose the Pepper Jelly Chicken Salad and my husband ordered the California Cobb Stack. My salad was not edible. The greens, etc were swimming in vinaigrette and the chicken was so dry it was hard to chew. (almost as if it were leftover from the day before and the excessive dressing was to add moisture, I don't know.) Our server did not come back to refill our drinks or check on our food. My husband was almost finished (his was only slightly better) before she even walked by and even then I had to stop her. I told her my chicken was so dry it was hard to chew. She took the food back to the kitchen and returned with our check. (my salad had been comped) but she did not ask me if I would like anything else. I did not ask to see a manager and one did not check on the problem. I left hungry and disappointed. I have been to the one on Veteran's and was always pleased with their food and service. If you must eat at a Zea's go to the one in Metairie. This one is terrible. Also, this location has NO COCKTAILS. only wine and beer.

We eat at this Zea's quite often. The quality of food and service from the restaurant has stood the test of time and stays on our short list. The food is good and the prices are reasonable. I've noticed I tend to order either the chicken panini or the Breaux Bridge shrimp pasta with forays of ordering the rosemary glazed pork or the burger just to break up the monotony. I would order ribs, but I can usually cadge one from my wife when she orders a rack of them, if she hasn't ordered the rainbow trout or something rlse equally healthy. Somehow it seems like a side of their corn grits ends up on the table, no matter what we order (whether the meal comes with sides or not). There isn't much of a wine list, but you probably are not here for a fancy dinner and a bottle of wine that triple the costs of the meal. The wines served are adequate and meets the demands of the meals served. And there is their beer...

For being stuck in the an obscure part of the New Orleans suburbs / warehouse kind of area, it's not a bad place. They brew their own beer (kudos), but it's not much to write home about. I had the rotisserie chicken, which was very flavorful and well prepared. The sides were weak - again, not bad, but not great. Overall, a good option in you're in Elmwood, particularly for those staying at one of the hotels nearby.

The Boyfriend and I were craving for some Corn Grits and Twice Cooked Duck and decided to hit up Zeas. Initially we intended to dine at the Clearview location but due to our lack of time and their wait, we went to Harahan's location. A total upset. Had we known that at this location, they do not serve any fried foods, we would not have came. So sad, this location has no almond shrimp, duck empanadas, or twice cooked duck! Boo. So, we settled for other entrees: Thai Ribs: Our ribs were BURNT! Sweet Glazed Salmon: Extremely dry and FISHY. a big no-no! The only thing we were happy about was the corn grits. I would recommend visiting their other locations.

Hands down, Zea's has the best corn grits anywhere. Their ribs and rainbow trout is also spot on whenever we go. Still, my wife & I were disappointed yesterday by their spinach artichoke appetizer, an item we have been happy with numerous times in the past. This time, it was mushy spinach with no artichoke taste. The chips that came with the appetizer were also not as good as previously. Zea's also seems to be out of at least one appetizer every time we dine there (this time, neither the steamed broccoli nor the sweet potatoes were available). While the ambience of Zea's is consistently good, the heater in part of the restaurant was malfunctioning (blowing cold on a 50F day). We arrived just before rush hour so this was not an issue for us (we simply requested to be seated in a warmer area) but it was for others (we heard another party complain). In summation, we will probably dine at Zea's in the future but it will not be as high on our list as in the past.

Dropped by for a late lunch, which they serve 7 days a week 11 to 4. Had the Pork with garlic glaze, roasted corn grits and Zea potatoes. Pork was good, the grits and potatoes were great.

I like this location but they have some omissions from the regular Zea menu due to the fact that they don't have a fryer. I've also gotten really good service but I have a relative that works there and that may have something to do with it.

JUST AWFUL. We had been regular neighbor diners since the restaurant opened several years ago. Not what it used to be. Serving size shrinking & food quality continues to go down. After several tries $17 Kobe burger still tastes & smells like bad fish, sometimes cooked ahead and reheated when ordered. $17 rainbow trout still tastes like old dirty meat. Broccoli not fresh, bad color, bad smell. Is that really chicken? Over processed. Atmosphere smoky odor. Will not try again.

Wow!! What a cool restaurant. Dig this, they have Hummus appetizers or a Thai Rib Stack, Great soups like corn bisque but the star here, so far for me is the Sweet and Spicy Rotisserie Chicken. You know once in a while you get a chicken on the bone that is so perfectly cook that the juices penetrate all the way down to the bones. Great chicken and the glaze was terrific. Service was great and be prepared to wait during lunch, so worth it though. The Chicken was served with dirty rice that was slap yo momma good too. They have paninni sandwiches that my friend loved, shrimp trouffe, huge salads and seafood. Hurry, go there.
