Pretty good Mexican food with handmade tortillas. I had beef tacos, beans and rice w/o cheese. My husband said the margarita was okay, nothing to write home about. Salsa was tomato style with spicy, no cilantro or onions.

Don't overlook this mexican restaurant in Hammond. Great tasting tacos, attentive staff, and very affordable! Might not be as fancy as other local competitors but it won't empty your wallet!

Very good food and the prices are fantastic. Service was fast. Love the taco's. Salsa could have been better but overall, an excellent choice and good bang for your buck

One of the most overlooked restaurants out there. This is college heaven with the drink specials they offer and the underpriced food. The wait staff seems to be made up of mostly family but they are great. Their salsa is awesome and I love the spiciness of it. Their food though is particularly bland. I find myself reaching for the salt and pepper and other condiments that are near to add some flavor to the food.

Okay food. Salsa and queso were good. Everything else seemed a little generic.

A solid choice for americanized mexican food in Hammond. Their menu is extensive, offering great lunch specials, a la carte items, and a smattering of dishes you would expect to find in this sort of restaurant. The prices are pretty good, and the food is awesome. I got the nachos and a chicken chimichanga to take home for later. Nachos were good, but the chimichanga was excellent.

I've been here 3 times. After discovering the Tacos Al Carbon, I haven't ordered anything else since. They are so so so good. Service is fast and most of the dishes are very well priced. Naturally I've developed a love for the more expensive dishes (~$10 an entree). On Wednesdays they have a great Mariachi band. Free chips and salsa certainly don't hurt either.

Great, QUICK, Authentic Mexican food at a great price! Great lunch menu prices with plates starting at $5.00. Can't beat that these days. Also, great house salsa while waiting on the food.

Favorite Mexican restaurant around Hammond! Excellent food and amazingly fast service even at lunch. In and out of that place in easily 30 mins. Food usually comes out within 7-10 mins of ordering. I would say WAY better than El Agave, Mi Patio, and La Carreta. I would eat here anyway before I go back to any of those restaurants. Excellent staff and customer service also. Pay-at-counter method.

Do not believe the hype. Upon reading all the Yelp reviews we gave this place a spin and were severely disappointed. Starting with service. There was like one server for the whole freakin' place. He was nice and accurate but c'mon people, not cool. He couldn't keep up. And the menu is, how do you say, very Sysco. Pretty sure not a single fresh ingredient in that kitchen. As for the liquor we opted for a margarita; curious what the standard v. the Texas style one was, we were informed it was 'top shelf.' So sad when it appeared moments later and was very clearly poured from some forsaken pre-mix. The order came out promptly though to quote my wife about her vegetarian option, much of it resembled nothing more than - wait for it - two words: grease bomb. If you value your time, your pallet, and your future health avoid this place.

I love to eat here when I come to Hammond. They have great Mexican food. prices can't be beat. They will accommodate large crowds. The food is fast and fresh. They feel like family. It is easy to get to and I've never had to wait to be seated. I guess they spoil us here.

Best option for fast, quick, hot, and delicious Mexican food around! Oh and did I mention inexpensive? Great for date night or family hangout! Staff is courteous and on their A game to make sure you get your order.

Frozen house margaritas were not the best I've had, but you can't beat the price (a small for $3.75). The food was really good. I had a veggie quesadilla which came with a cheese enchilada and refried beans for $6.55! The salsa was yummy, and the service was great too. I'd eat here again.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
