I love dim sum! I have eaten the freshest dim sum there is in Houston! I have gone to this place twice now but just getting around to doing the review. First thing you need to know is the dim sum place is located next to the main door restaurant. You walk in, you will notice push carts. This is where the good is lol. I guess some would call these small plates appetizers (Hong Kong style dining). Wait time was about 10 mins. If you get tea for one, they will automatically charge for the amount of ppl in your party bc they assume everyone is drinking tea. $0.70 each really is bad. Our waitress was ok. She dropped off the teas with no glass of ice water and was gone. We waited at least 15 before the carts were pushed around to our table. See my pics of what we ate. The prices of the dishes were decent. You won't know which dish is which price till the cart server stamps your bill card. My two stars came from the fact the steamed pork with bell peppers smelled and tasted spoiled. It was unappetizing. The calamari was very greasy and salty...this is considered the special dish so it was the most expensive. The beef fun rolls came really late after our meal because the cart never made it to our table and we finally waved down another server to get us to plates. The meat was dry inside. Disappointed. Xiu Mai was delicious tho! So was the BBQ Baked Buns. Being as this is the only dim sum in this area, we may or may not be back.

Dim sum rolling carts only from Sat-Sun from 11am and ends at 3:30pm. This is the only place in NOLA to get good dim sum. The servers are polite, and the ladies rolling the cart are always very nice. Never come towards closing time like at 2-3 bc they run out of the good stuff. This place is super packed so expect to wait. They've expanded the dining area to next door by the buffet so the wait won't be long.

Panda King is probably the best dim sum experience Westbank/New Orleans have to offer. There will be times where you will enjoy the dimsum and there will be times where you ask yourself "why does the food suck today?" The food was good all the other times I went, but then last Saturday, April 18, the food was not very good. It wasnt packed like normal due to the weather I suppose. The fried calamari was soggy! The calamari is usually crispy. The food just wasnt good that day, probably because they were not busy and had a lot of food left over, so they couldnt prepare fresher foods..... If you like dim sum and want the push cart experience Panda King is a good place. They are open saturday-sunday from 10-3pm, I think.

After reading other reviews regarding Panda King Fine Dining's dim sum-- I had to go check it out for myself. And I was not disappointed. So much to choose from. Cart after cart of amazing things. And everything tasted so great. I recommend you go in at least a party of 3; most of the dishes come in sets of three. Three dumplings; three skewers; etc.

Protip: Get the Egg Custard Tarts and the Sesame Balls. Oh, and just about everything else, too. Everything offered on the dim sum carts is absolutely delicious, from the various dumplings and noodle dishes to the meaty morsels and turnip cakes. The only downside is that it can add up quickly if you want to try everything (and you will want to). Go with a group if you want a huge variety. Just dining for 2-3? Stick to the smallest offerings. You can't go wrong with anything you choose..

Two words DIM SUM. Having eaten a dim sum dinner in San Francisco, this one right here on the west bank of New Orleans is just as good or better. Pace yourself and don't eat a thing before you get here on Sunday because you are going on a taste roller coaster unlike any other. You will need atleast four people with you to do the right. Once you sit down here they come with cart after cart of unbelievable food that most state siders have never seen or heard of before, all delicious. My party of four sat and ate for three hours and never saw the same dish brought out twice and the price is an unbelievable deal when you split the bill. If you love food this is a must but your waistline will not like it if you do it too often.

This place is definitely the best and probably only place you can go to get your dim sum fix in the westbank. My niece and I were seated really quickly and we were served very fast, which was awesome because we were super hungry! This is a good place to eat if you wanna just eat and go. I felt like the food was pretty good, but not the best I've ever had. The calamari seemed a little soggy today, but during most days it's crispy. The Chinese broccoli was a little salty for me because of the sauce; I usually don't get that either. The steamed rice paper shrimp roll was good but I didn't like the rice paper texture; it was a little too doughy for me. I might make the food sound a little mediocre but overall, the experience was great and I definitely left feeling satisfied.

It is a good place for dim sum~ Danta is not bad, but sesame balls is not good as I thought. Anyway, it is the top first place I will go for dim sum as a Cantonese. Will recommended it!

Wow!! My parents introduced this place to my husband and I while we were in town visiting. We went at noon on a Sunday and it was packed! They serve dim sum from the carts and not sure if this is every day or just on Sundays. Either way, totally worth the visit . They have a good thing going. Carts are pushed up and down the aisles with all sorts of Chinese delicacies . My favorites were the steamed dumplings, Chinese broccoli and the fried calamari and scallops. Also, save room for the carts of the desserts. My personal faves were the egg tarts and the buns with the golden crust. Each table has a small clipboard that the employees stamp when you take items off the carts. At the end of your dining experience, your designated server calculates the bill and brings a final receipt. Pretty clever! This is a MUST on the Westbank for authentic Chinese dim sum.

Big fan. The dim sum here on Saturday and Sundays is one of the best Chinese Food options in the Greater New Orleans area. Tasty food, great atmosphere, and if the fact that you can never get in without a wait isn't evidence enough, the food itself is fabulous.

If I lived in this area I would have to actually get a job so I could afford to go for Dim Sum every weekend. Price adds up quickly if you make a pig of yourself like we did but one can do less than we did. All was very good and we will return when we visit family again. Check it out.

Come one come all! This place is on point! Everything we ordered was magnificent. Most dishes come 3-4 per order which in our group of 3 was perfect. Most dumplings and steamed buns are big enough to split also but if they aren't enough or you just NEED more ( it's that good, you'll want more ) the carts will come around just in time to pick up a second order ! Everyone has their favorites, the small snails pleased my palate most! Pork buns and peeking duck also awesome as well as the wide noodles! Best part about dim sum is sampling everything, so be adventurous !

Best Dim Sum in NOLA hands down. There is no place like it here. The magical carts keep circling until you are busting at the seams.

All I can say is pace yourself. So many delicious looking things come out and you want to eat all of them. When we go next time, we will try to stay away from the noodle dishes. Although they are tasty, we filled up and missed out on some of the other dishes. Dumplings were great, Korean style ribs were great....

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
