The green curry chicken is not too shabby. I ordered it to-go and was pleased with the portion for $10. I was able to stretch it for 2.5 meals. If you decide to dine in, you will be pleasantly surprised with the clean relaxing atmosphere even though the exterior is a basic strip mall. The staff were super sweet, but then again most people are sweet to pregnant women.

Pretty decent thai food in the westbank. Sweet owners with a very nice crew of servers. They were very patient and never rushed us out even though we were too close to closing time. We tipped extra for that since its rude to enter a restaurant thirty minutes before closing or if you're already there be aware of closing time. ~ Back to point, the roti bread is my favorite. Sweet but not overwhelming, makes a great snack appetizer or a dipper for other entrees with sauce. Spicy clams is a must. The portion is so much u can share btw three or just make it your own entree. I liked their original sauce with it but it seems to change to a newer sauce which is good but the original was to die for. Comes with one roti bread so I ordered more. Their appetizer list is very tempting. Got the Coconut Shrimp, very large butterflied prawns, extremely crispy with a tangy sauce. Definitely a must try. Also, I got the Crispy Calamari with its tangy sauce. Small popcorn size, crispy not overfried, enjoyed it. I know I went nuts ordering like 4 app's but I wanted more. Anyways, for entrees I got the Voodoo Noodles w/ chicken, good taste but the noodles were rice noodles so they mushed really fast and just seemed like it disintegrated into dish somewhere. It is how it is so, I don't consider it there fault. Flavor still good. I, also, requested for it to be spicy...good choice. Next time I'll avoid rice noodle dishes since I prefer a chewier type noodle. Don't think rice noodle is their strong dish so read your noodle choices. Friend got Chicken Green Curry with side of rice. She enjoyed every last bite so I'll take that as a happy customer. I didn't taste it so can't comment on curry...though when in doubt request it to be spicy. Dessert, I got the fried banana with ice cream. I've been raised on a lot of fried banana type desserts but I liked this one. The banana was rolled into an eggroll wrap so it maintained a very crispy texture to the hot soft filling inside and cold from the vanilla ice cream was great contrast. Typical Asian dessert but well executed. So I def. recommend it and would go back often. I've had authentic thai and this is kinda the watered down version meaning not heavy on the spices so don't expect mouth burning flavor but settle for a midway. It's more of a 3 1/2 then 4 star but I'm going back soon so I can't be too overly critical. And oh yeah don't expect much of the inside decor. They really didn't get creative with the design but kept it very simple with like Ikea tables and chairs and some cute lamps. Dark warehouse type floor...meh. Has a basic comfy feel. ~Ivy.

WHY didn't I go here sooner?! Absolutely delicious!!! Each dish that came out had me mmmmmmm-ing. Frankly, I think my boyfriend was slightly jealous! I'm ready to go back NOW!

Totally worth the trip over the bridge to the wilds of the westbank! Right, it's just in a strip mall and the decor is clean/bright/basic. But the food is super tasty. My only complaint was that one of my dining companions had a little bit of a problem with the heat in his dish. But that may have been a personal problem. If it was closer to my house, I would probably give it 5 stars.

The service here was very good and the food was delicious! The portions are rather large, so be prepared to walk a way with a white Styrofoam box. I had the pleasure of dining here with my sister and my teenage nephew. Let me tell you, if he left here full, you will leave here full too! They each had an order of pad Thai and I had the Bourbon Noodles. All of our dishes were delicious and we also shared an appetizer - the coconut shrimp. They were pretty standard, nothing overly special, but still enjoyable. The service was prompt and the atmosphere is casual and quiet. There are some specials, however, I noticed the chalkboard after I placed the order and our waitress was all business; she was not about introducing herself, small talk or discussing specials. She was actually pretty impatient about taking our order and didn't ask if we had any questions. It wasn't busy, so it's not as though we were keeping her from any noticeable priority, but hey, the sign out front doesn't even have the entire restaurant name displayed, so my expectation needed to be taken down a notch. It's not Commanders. All in all, the service was average but the food was really good, so I would return. It's not the kind of meal where you linger and are entertained by the wait staff; it's more of a get in and get out type of place.

Banana Blossom is a small restaurant. I believe there's less than ten tables ! The servers aren't super fluent in english, but they do an amazing job understanding what you want. I think it's best when you bring a few friends and pick entrees to share. I have eaten here plenty of times, but I haven't tried their entire menu. One of my favorite dishes is the masaman curry. It's delicious and even better when you pair it with a roti (similar to a pita bread). Their pineapple fried rice is also yummy. However, the last time I visited BB, they really messed up the pineapple fried rice. I'm not sure if there was a new cook or just a plain mess up, but that was the first time I ever experience any inconsistencies at BB. Overall, I love Banana Blossom and I crave for it all of the time. I live an hour and a half away, so whenever I'm near, it's definitely one of the restaurants I want to visit. Lastly, I feel that their cooking is very homey! Definitely tastes like something my momma would cook, if I was thai lol!

I'm originally from Seattle where I ate Thai food several times a week. It was tragic to move to New Orleans and find there were no good Thai spots... until we discovered Banana Blossom. It is really great. I'm sure I'm missing something but we have tried and loved: avocado rolls, veggie egg rolls, chicken pad thai, beef bourbon noodle, masaman curry and pineapple fried rice. And the service is quick and friendly. Quite sad though to discover they aren't open on Sundays as we were planning to go tonight.

Despite living in Marrero, I had no idea that this place even existed. I happened to be in Gretna and needed some groceries, so we went to the Winn Dixie. On my way into their parking lot, I happen to see a small yellow sign in the adjacent strip mall that said "THAI"... which of course made me investigate further. A couple of days passed, and the family was trying to decide on what to eat for dinner. I suggested we give this Thai place a try, rather than driving across the river to Siamese. It was delicious, the server was great, and my only complaint is to myself... why didn't you save room for dessert!?? We'll definitely be back for more, and this time, I won't pig out on appetizers and our entrees so that I can enjoy whatever their dessert of the day happens to be!

My husband and I love this little restaurant. It's quite set back in a strip mall next to Winn Dixie on Belle Chasse Hwy. I love the spicy thai chicken with a chili broth. So amazing. The dish is perfectly balanced as are most things I have gotten here. My husband loves the Bourbon Chicken with glass noodles. Simple but well done food. Service is always prompt and well informed.

This place sadly loses a star due to a language barrier. The food was amazing to say the least. It was simple but with lots of flavor while not over doing it on intensity. This is my new go to restaurant. The place is quaint and quiet, but comfortable and atmospherically pleasing for the space they have available.

We found this cafe through Yelp and it does not disappoint. I enjoyed some of the best Thai food I have had since moving to New Orleans. We had some amazing places back in California that we really missed, but Banana Blossom has totally helped me get over my homesick feeling for Thai food. My husband had their version of Yellow Curry with all the noodles in it. I had a delicious bowl of Red Curry. I asked for brown rice, which costs a little extra, but it was so yummy with the curry. The place is in a kind of strip mall off a main highway, but it was still quiet and cute. The tables are far enough apart that it stills seems intimate even though the dining area is not very expansive. The tables were clean and the service was great.

I was in town to meet up with my friend and realized, "hey! I'm in the mood for Thai food!" so then on... the adventure to finding banana blossom has begun. I noticed they open and close like sushi restaurant! We made perfect timing when they were about to reopen at 5! :) As we walked in.. It was quite small and dainty which is okay ^^ our lady server was nice ! Not talkative, but nice! :) I ordered the basil fried rice with chicken and I also ask for them to add raw tofu in there too ! It was yummy!!! My boyfriend had the Pad See Ew and it was very yummy.. (I swiped a bite xD ) Their thai tea was good too. :) Overall, i would come back again for a quick Thai food fix if I'm around west bank! I enjoyed it~ price was decent. Food was good. Thai tea met my standards! So why 4? Believe it or not.. I don't like HUGE food portions! (and they had huge portions) my brain will tell me to eat it all!!!!! And it's not good :(

I love Banana Blossom! I'm a huge fan of Thai food and to know that there is delicious Thai joint on the Westbank made me extra happy. I really enjoy coming here and it is affordable with big portions. They also offer lunch specials. My favorites have to be: Appetizers: Spicy Calms - A must have! Comes with a side of an Indian bread called Roti...Make sure you order an extra one because they only give you one and the sauce is addicting! Avocado Spring Rolls- Light and refreshing. I love their peanut sauce. Fried Calamari- Made just right! If you like the Fried Calamari from Double Dragon, then you will love this. Entrees: Spicy Basil- The name speaks for itself. It's spicy and has a lot of basil. This is a broth based entree that comes with a side of white rice. You can get this with different types of meats, seafood, or veggies and tofu. Red Curry- Caution if you do NOT like coconut don't eat the curry here. I happen to like it but other people I know who have tried it don't this dish because this reason. Bourbon Noodle- Ask for this spicy! If I am correct this is made with fresh rice noodles so it won't come out like a normal stirfry noodle dish you are use to. Crispy Chicken and Fried Rice- When they said it's Crispy Chicken, it's crispy chicken! It's a dish that little ones enjoy more. Other items I have had but weren't really crazy about were the Coconut Shrimp, Fried Ribs, Pineapple Fried Rice (I'm hooked on Siamese's), Tom Yum Soup, and the Pad Thai. I always want to try more things here but I already have my favorites. Overall, service is good (with a little bit of language barrier) and food is awesome so I'm a fan!

The Chiang Mai Noodle dish my be the best Thai I've ever eaten... and the Roti with red curry sauce for an appetizer. I'll be back!

After hearing of this new Thai restaurant opening on the Westbank, I finally had the chance to go and check it out. The location was easy to find and plenty of parking spots. The restaurant's environment is relaxing and the servers were very very nice. The girl who took our order might not have the best English skill so asking her for advice on appetizers was no help at all. The dish I like the most is def. the Tofu Salad (or FRIED tofu salad??). The dish was light on taste, both sweet and a little bit spicy. The little fired tofu was very tasty and the dish costs only $7. The pineapple fried rice I ordered was okay, I was a little disappointed that they don't have duck to add to the fried rice. Instead I added seafood to my fried rice and the scallop was really fresh, I like it. The glass noodle Pad Thai was another good choice, the taste was awesome and def. something I would order next time. Overall this is a nice little joint for friends and family to come out and enjoy. I liked it, especially it's not an expensive place!!!

Nice, romantic spot with a interesting (and inexpensive) Thai dishes. They are especially great at appetizers with delicious options like fried squash fritters and spicy clams. They also have a great Spicy Basil Trout entree that we get almost every time. It's not handy, but it is very good.

Surprisingly good Chang Mai noodles. Drunken (pad kee mao) noodles were not so good. Curries were nice. Avocado rolls are tasty. Super casual atmosphere.

Banana Blossom is a tiny, unpretentious restaurant in a strip mall on the Wank. And it serves some of the best Thai food in the area. You absolutely must try the spicy clam appetizer; it's one of the best things I've ever eaten and I crave it constantly. Get some extra roti to mop up leftover sauce (trust me; if you don't have the roti you're just going to use your fingers and embarrass yourself and your friends). Since the appetizer spot is on lockdown, I try to get a different entree each time I go. I've never been disappointed. The wok-fried dinners are all very good, and the curries are excellent--especially the coconut curry. If you're on the Wank, you need Banana Blossom. If you're not on the Wank, it's worth the trip (and maybe even a toll tag).

I had lunch here and sampled the Tom Yum soup with chicken and the spicy basil with shrimp. Unfortunately both of these dishes were my least favorite examples of these Thai classics that I've had anywhere in the area as I found them very bland. The food was fresh and well prepared but it just lacked any kick whatsover and was blander than mild. I honestly don't see myself returning here as the other Thai restaurants in New Orleans are so much better than what I experienced at lunch. The service was generally good until the end when I had to wait way too long to get my bill. The clam appetizer sounds interesting so maybe I will return for that but overall it was just too bland an experience for me.

My friend had a Thai craving so we came here! You can't spot banana blossom right away bc their sign is quite small. One thing I had a problem with was the AC!! it was not comfortable in there. And I wasn't sweating bc of the spicyness either. It was just super humid. At least they had fans to make it a little bearable. As for the food... We had the roti, spicy clams, and avocado rolls. The roti with the spicy clam juice was so yummy! But... it wasn't really spicy. The avocado roll provided that "good fat" so that's a plus. I also had the tom yum soup. It was good but I was kind of disappointed bc I was expecting sour/spicy and it was...more on the sweet side. But hopefully it was just that one day. As for entrees we had the garlic soft shell crab, red curry, and bourbon noodles. It was pretty good. But next time I'm going to try spicy basil. I'm a big Veggie fan and the zucchini was really good in the dishes. Tender with a slight crunch. :9

OMG the Roti! I leave the city to come to Gretna to eat here. It's another little secret. Might be hard to find so GPS it. It is in a very non descript shopping center. The sign above the place just reads "Thai". I had dinner there this past Friday. Lovely. I haven't had the spicy clams but wanted them. I will next time for sure. I have had almost everything else. If it has the word fritter after it, order it.

Very fresh food and very inexpensive. We went there last night with a group and thoroughly enjoyed the fresh garden rolls with fresh basil and avacado. Outstanding trout and a wonderful chicken curry.

I haven't tried many things on the menu yet, but when i visited this restaurant i loved the simplicity of the decor. I was excited that they had thai tea on their menu and for once it didn't taste like it was made from powder, but who knows. For appetizers, i had the Roti which was a pretty good, soft, flat bread they made. Entrees were not half bad either; i had the Tom Yum Noodles, it just needs to be a lot spicier for my tastes!! Then i finished it off with Fried ice cream with Fried banana. I would recommend this restaurant, but i do not think i will dine in again due to memories .

Friendly service with staff that remembers and takes care of the locals. The basil chicken is fabulous and is served almost like a broth. Also the glass noodle salad is the best in the city. The chieng mai fun is fantastic (i usually get it without the mustard seeds). The pork rolls and roti are very tasty as well. Their strong suit is their curries and for those that want a non-traditional thai dish, i HIGHLY recommend the crispy chicken and fried rice. It's cooked with a panko crust and is fantastic. The soups are also very good and I have heard the seafood dishes are excellent as well. The noodle dishes may be their weakest portion but still tasty.

Because this place is so small, I'm hesitant to tell everyone how good it is. The yellow curry with seafood was worth cutting line for one of the 10 or 12 four tops. We did show up at 8 on a friday. The waitresses seemed to be in the weeds, but once we got the food ordered, it came pretty quick. Go early if you want rolls.

I had given this restaurant several tries just because I love love Thai food and they seem to be the only one around on the Westbank. However, they never seem to blew me away. Most of the time, the food are too oily. The drunken noodles were not separate well, stuck together in clump. The pad thai doesn't have that great tamarind flavoring. All I can taste on many occasion with the larb are the rice powder, more like raw rice kernel. It doesn't have the limey-spice to it, again, also very oily. Fried rice are too bland. Pricing wise are not that cheap neither.

My husband normally hates Thai food but I ordered take out (so he wouldn't know where it was from) and he loved it so much he is recommending Banana Blossom to his friends. I ordered it "not spicy" but we really enjoyed the curry salmon, ginger chicken, avacado rolls. Our 4 year old loved the fried rice with fried chicken on it. They have a lot of healthy and vegetarian options too. I'm a fan!

I went here for the first time with my bf the other day. I know I love thai food already so I figured I would try it. It is small and quite and no one greeted or seated us. None of the workers spoke English. That was ok I guess. Our food came out right but they kept mixing up our drinks. But I ordered the avocado rolls as an appetizer, they were ok but had mint in they which was way to overpowering but the dipping sauce was delicious. And for dinner I had some dish with pineapple and veggies and chicken. It was so delicious. I loved it so much, the flavor could not have been any better. I tried to eat it fast but it was hard cuz it was so spicy. I went through a couple iced green teas which were delicious too with a squeeze of lemon. The food was so spicy I had to bust out the Kleenex lol. My bf ordered thai pad which is a common thai dish, but he didn't like it. But overall I was pleased with my dish and I would defiantly go there and order it again.

So, full disclosure time: I'm not the biggest fan of Thai food. I've tried it in the past and for whatever reason it just didn't do it for me. That all changed when I stopped into Banana Blossom. Banana Blossom was on the January edition list of "38 Essential New Orleans Restaurants" ( nola.eater.com/maps/the-… ), so I decided to give Thai food another try. The restaurant is very simple, but nice. We sat down and I decided to ease into this Thai experience by sticking to food that I know I like. We started with the fried calamari which was just excellent. It was nice and fresh and right out of the fryer. The pieces were small and came with a nice sauce for dipping. For my entree I got the coconut ginger shrimp. which was 4 large shrimp that were battered and served over rice. I had the option of getting the dish "mild", "hot", or "very hot" and I decided to go with "hot" because I enjoy a little spice. The food was so good! The rice had a lot of flavor and the shrimp were fried perfectly. There were also some vegetable mixed in the rice, which made it great. I found the food spicy, but not so spicy that it took away from the flavor of the food. The portions are quite large and I boxed up half of me meal and took it home. I loved my food experience here and I will now definitely return, since there is some Thai food I really like in my area.

This place is amazing! All the reviews about who needs a fancy sign when the food speaks for itself was right! We had pork rolls, Tom kah soup, calamari and fried rice with tempura chicken. All were so fresh and amazing. We will be back. The quality of ingredients was 5 stars!!

Good just good because I can not see how a sauce can taste so good that it doesn't matter what's in it!

Yikes. I don't know what happened to this place - maybe new ownership - but we both noticed a huge decline in quality and taste on our trip today.

Amazingly fresh and flavorful Thai food. We had the the chicken roti to start and it was one of the best things I've had in a long time. The bread was tender and chewy and a perfect match to the ground chicken. My husband and I split Tom Kha chicken soup and Chiang Mei noodles with beef and both were very good. The noodles were rich and warmly spiced with bits of pickled veg to cut the richness of the curry. The soup was nice with lots of chicken and fresh carrots and mushrooms. It was a little sweet but had just the right level of heat. The staff was very nice and the service was quick. The prices were reasonable. Banana Blossom It's inappropriate in that it's a picture drawn in ketchup of a dick. is definitely worth the trip across the river and with many items of interest on the menu I know it will be a go to place for Thai when I'm in New Orleans.

I stopped in to eat here late one night after a meeting. I'm pretty picky about my Thai food because IMO when it's good, I love it. When it's bad I cannot stand it. I wasn't expecting much from this "hole in the wall" place. I didn't even check the yelp review until I ordered. I was pleasantly surprised by this place. The Masaman Curry was very good. The steamed pork dumplings were awesome. My friend got the chicken Pad Thai and fried ribs. It was his first time eating Thai, and he loved it. The service was very fast. I will go back when I'm in the area.

When you know you're good, you don't need a big flashy sign to get diners eager for an unexpected treat into your door. Just a little word-of-mouth will do the trick. Case in point: Banana Blossom. As you're driving through the parking lot of a generic-looking strip mall on Belle Chasse Highway in Gretna, all you're going to see is a store front with "THAI" in big yellow letters right over it. That's it. I never knew that Banana Blossom even existed until heading over to Cafe Zen, which is two doors down in the same shopping center, and finding that it wasn't open. What a happy accident that was! If you like stir-fry, this is the place for you. My favorite is the spicy basil with veggies and a meat of your choice (I usually opt for chicken or shrimp) in a spicy broth. It comes with jasmine rice, or you can get brown rice as I always do, and I like that they have that option here. On my last visit, I branched out a little from my usual and ordered the tom yum soup with noodles. Also very good! The people sitting at the next table over ordered the spicy clams which looked and smelled FANTASTIC. Might have to try those on my next visit! Banana Blossom proves once again that, if you look hard enough, you can find hidden culinary gems that you would not expect, even on the Westbank!

The Tom Kha was incredible! It was very sweet, and the lime flavor was very strong. The mushrooms in the soup was very juicy and absorbed much of the broth's flavor. My husband had the hot Red Curry with chicken. It was also very tasty! It had a very rich flavor and the vegetables in it had great flavor. The rice was cooked perfect. The service was pretty good as well.

Like many others I had a hard time finding this place. I'm not familiar with the west bank. I finally found it and it only said Thai. It wasn't labeled. Any who, the food was pretty good. Just a heads up if you don't like squid or octopus stay from anything with mixed seafood in it.

Banana Blossom Thai Cafe used to be our favorite restaurant on the Westbank. We've noticed it going down hill in the past 6 months or so. Tonight the room temperature was right near 80 degrees, warm and stuffy in mid July. The spicy clams were good but far less plentiful, our food was mediocre at best. The Ginger Lover was bland, the shrimp BBQ pasta was disappointing, mushy noodles and hardly any cilantro or greens which the menu made appealing. The service was good but cutting corners won't get my repeat business.

this place is pretty hidden bc they don't have a big sign saying "Banana Blossom" it actually just says "Thai." it's hidden in like the farthest corner of a strip mall next to Krewe Yoga and what use to be UPS (just recently learned they're no longer there after being there about a decade at the lease). so I loveeeee Banana Blossom. Their Thai menu is unlike I've ever had before. it's not like your typical Thai menu where there's JUST seafood pad thai and calamari... basic stuff. I've been here three times and order to go twice but never opted to write a review, no idea why. lol. my recommendations would be the: Roti- two pieces of warm Roti bread with a side of curry to dip your bread in. so good Spicy Clams- not that spicy as you would think and it comes with a side of Roti bread. very good! BBQ oysters- my bf loves BBQ so we had to try this appetizer. it was pretty good. Pablo Fried Shrimp- it's been awhile but I recall having it the first time I ever came there and it was pretty good Chiang Mai Noodle- so omg... like where have you been in all my life? crunchy egg, noodles with curry, like... why didn't I think of this? wow. this was what set Banana Blossom from the rest of those Thai restaurants. it is my all time favorite and I've gotten it back to back bc that's how good it was. you can have it with any kind of seafood or meat. I forgot what i had mines with but I'm sure you pair with any of them and it's delightful. just add a squeeze Of like and the flavors are exploding in your mouth. we all know you can't go wrong with the pad Thai. so if you're thinking about trying it, go for it. idk what my boyfriend ordered I forgot I just know what I ordered. hahah. sorry guys. the owner, Jimmy Cho is amazing and he's so sweet! he came out with some complimentary dessert: warm roti with Nutella and was just chatting us up getting to know some of the other guests who joined me. this is a place that you don't want to miss out on trying guys!

Came in here around 7:30ish... for dinner and it was almost a full house! Thankfully, we took the only table available. The service is friendly and okay. I HIGHLY recommend the spicy calms (was a little disappointed that they didn't give us much like in past visits) and the calamari for appetizers.. honestly, I only come here for those 2 + the mango & sticky rice for dessert. I'm not too crazy about their Pad Thai or pineapple fried rice, but their Tom Yum is pretty good! If I don't feel like going across the river to Equator then this place is definitely my 2nd choice for Thai. 4-stars because the SPICY CALMS are so good :)

This is my favorite Thai restaurant in the area and I'm so glad that I live close because my fiance and I order to-go from them all the time. The Pad Woon Sen is my favorite and their roti, calamari, and spicy clams are delicious appetizers. My fiance is always trying different entrees from them and they never disappoint! The staff is very friendly and they always remember us (especially my fiance with his handlebar moustache).

Just finish our lunch here before heading to Houston. We had Spicy Clams, Shrimp Tom Yum, Beef Pad Thai, and Red Curry. They are all really good but a little salty for us. We love the Spicy Clams and ended up ordering the second one. . The Red Cury was very rich and creamy. We also love the Pad Thai but we feel like the beef was not very fresh. Besides that, we enjoyed our meal. The restaurant was cozy ans our waiter was nice and polite.

My sweetie took me here and it was absolutely delish... you walk in and it's a quaint, modest vibe. Clean, quiet, and subdued color palette. So the server was nice and tips me about every dish in the menu. We had the BBQ shrimp appetizer and it was absolutely seductive. Big healthy gulf shrimp with the head and tail on sitting in a sexy, savory sauce....my mouth was watering at the first whiff. Then you try to start eating cute with the fork then it got real and I used my hands and it was epic. Oh yeah, they serve roti with it, it was so buttery and light....I mean if I didn't have a valentine it would be it. The honey had pad woon sen which was delish and my thai garlic shrimp was light yet savory. Then, just as I was about to throw in the towel,...a complimentary creme Brulee! It was a green (pistachio? ) custard that melted as soon as it touched my tongue. ..yes. this place is a gem. See for your self!

Yum yum yummy! Went here last week for lunch, and it was some of the best Thai food I've had in a long time. I was going to get the pork egg roll, and they were out so I asked what was one of the better apps - the fried calamari was ordered, and dang was it good! I mean really good, and the dipping sauce just topped it off. Got the bbq curry chicken for my entree (i think that's what it was called - it's the first curry dish on the lunch menu), and I think it's the best I've ever had. Service was great - the place is very small, and they were out of tables, so they ran off and got an extra table from the back. Got to love that. Just remember this place is a little small, so maybe try going at an off time so you won't have to wait...but if you do have to wait it's totally worth it!

My boyfriend's brother and his fiancé showed us this place last night. We had never heard of it since we live in Metairie. This place is small but very cute. Service was a little slow last night, but we were told that is very unusual for them. I ordered a strawberry margarita which was very good although kind of small for the price. My boyfriend ordered the iced coffee which was very tasty. For appetizers our table ordered spicy clams and calamari. Both were well presented and delicious. They gave us so many clams! For our entree, my boyfriend and I split the voodoo noodles with regular chicken and fried chicken. I loved the sweet sauce that came with the meal. It was definitely enough for the both of us. The prices were not bad at all, and I heard that their lunch prices are awesome. I can't wait to come back!

No Chicken satay but the pad se ew and crispy trout were delicious. the thai fried rice was full of shrimp and very tasty but we ordered hot and should have done thai hot. Service was good but this place fills up quickly and stays busy. It is in the Winn Dixie shopping center with very little signage. Not a bad place to get your Thai fix.

Meh is as high as i can go at this point. First off the sign above the place just says "Thai" which is funny and charming in a developing world kinda way but this is 'Merica. Inside has zero personality. Staff was nice. Menu is user-friendly and everything looked good. The roti was fantastic. Def get this. (bread) I got the voodoo noodles with beef. Meh. Definitely not bad but not good enough to make me get it again. I would try a curry next time. If the curry is meh too I probably wont go back. It is nice to mix it up and get some thai every once in a while since most of the time i get Vietnamese when on the west bank. This place apparently gets best Thai a lot and I have a few friends who speak very highly of them. I now think less of them. Meh. Just didnt live up to the hype in my opinion but good enough to go back and try something else.

Banana Blossom is the secret hidden jewel on the westbank. The word which comes to mind in this place is "comfort." The atmosphere is clean and modern but not snotty. If you get intimidated by unfamiliar foods, this place has the basic curries and shrimp/rice dishes. If you are adventurous they have some noodle dishes that are totally worth trying. The cocktails are yummy as well. The staff is sweet. The flavors are clean. The creme brulee is FANTASTIC. This is a place for everyone. Maybe don't bring the kids, though.

My daughter and I seem to be on an impromptu "find the good spots to eat" mission (which I thoroughly enjoy, considering she is off to college in the fall).....I regret not being able to give this 4 1/2 stars; the service alone deserves that. Very attentive, incredibly friendly and fast, even if it was busy and she was pretty much the only one on the floor. Our meal was delicious. Flavorful, fresh, colorful and plentiful, especially for lunch. I regret not having taken a photo to post, because my dish looked picture perfect. It was all too tempting... prompting me to just dig in. The roti and red curry were delicious.... and the dessert nutella roti..well thats just a piece of indulgence (provided one is able to leave it at just one).

Really good thai food. They will make your food to order, based on what your interested in (no added sugar, make it as hot as you want, vegan options, etc). The service is good, the employees are always friendly. The inside of the restaurant is really simple, nothing special, but feels pretty comfortable and relaxing to me. I always leave full, but not a sickening full.

Thai. Tinted windows. Strip mall. It can only meet low expectations, right? It was fantastic. Excellent prices and portions for lunch. Nice atmosphere (10 tables) that turns and burns. Full service with a smile. The chicken Thai garlic was excellently presented with shaved peanuts on top in a rich, flavorful broth. The vegetables were perfectly cooked and the chicken was succulent. Plates were unchipped, silverware polished, and clean, yellow linens rolled tight. Very impressed with the whole business. Will be back! Done eating within 20 minutes after walking in.

Spicy clams & roti! Yummmm So the first time I tried this place a couple years ago, I wasn't impressed. I didn't come back until recently, this past summer of 2013. I was very impressed!! Everything we tried was quite flavorful. They had a special that contained fried oysters in the spicy clams sauce. It was delicious!! Every dish we tried was either good or delicious. Pretty good! Give it a try!

The food was good, service was much better than it was the last time I went. I love the spicy clams & bourbon noodles with seafood. My girlfriend had the spicy basil wok with crispy chicken, the plate smelled delicious but the chicken was quiet bland and wasn't spicy at all.

Excellent food! It is one of my top 5 restaurants in this city. Chiang Mai Noodles are indescribably yummy...have to try them for yourself. The pork rolls appetizer is also very delicious.

I want to drink their BBQ shrimp gravy thru a straw! I have always enjoyed Banana Blossom since they opened, but their current menu is amazing. Their avocado rolls are fresh and tasty. I need their vanilla green tea hooked up to me on an IV. My husband loves their korean noodles. I dream about their creme brulee trio. I love being a westbanker because this place is so much better than any of the Thai places across the river.

After spending months in Thailand...I was missing the food big time. I've tried every Thai place in and around New Orleans. THIS PLACE IS THE BEST FOR THAI FOOD!!! Get the Chiang Mai noodles!!!

I've come to Banana Blossom a lot since they opened and they've improved tremendously. Most of their servers have great personalities and give great service. The reason I say most is because they have a few training currently. I frequently change my order and ask for weird accommodations and they never let me down. My favorite items on the menu is the roti appetizer, pork rolls, Thai tea, spicy basil spaghetti, and the pineapple curry. Great place to spend an hour or two just to relax.

  • Cece M.

Service is really bad!!! Got the wrong order and didn't feel sorry about it at all. All the seafood are frozen seafood, especially the spicy clams. There are other Thai places in New Orleans has better food and much better service, won't come back again.

  • Kerry T.

The food is always delicious. Everything was great. However, our server wasn't the greatest. She ignored my sister when she asked if she can take something and just walked away. I'd recommend anyone to come here for good Thai food! Just wish the server wasn't so rude.

I love love love this place!!! I was sooooooo happy to find out that they are vegan friendly! My favorite thing to get is the spicy cashew nut wok; it's very good!!! The avocado rolls are also an A+ :)

Outstanding entrées! I ordered the Thai Garlic with Chicken and it was a good size dish with a side dish of Jasmine Rice. The sauces used to make the Thai Garlic were amazingly delicious. My wife ordered the Coconut Shrimp with Jasmine Ginger Fried Rice, She Loved it and I enjoyed it as well. Any Room for dessert!? After our meal we ordered Fried Banana which is perfect dessert for 2 people. There are many food choices on the Menu. The inside was Very clean and every table had a fresh cut flower and was candle lit, Sometimes it's the small things that matter. The Staff was courteous and there wasn't a long wait for our food. The Restaurant was difficult to see from Belle Chasse Hwy but it's in the Winn Dixie plaza on the far right side. We will definitely be coming back.

I've been here 5 or 6 times for lunch. Huge fan of green & red curries; the vegetables are fresh and the kitchen will cater to the heat level you prefer. The roti is delicious. Unfortunately, the chicken has been consistently dry and detracts from all the other good things going on in the dish. The staff is courteous and responsive.

My husband and I were in the mood for a break from traditional New Orleans fare. We are so happy we tried this restaurant out! Some of the best Thai food we can remember having. We started with the fried jalapeño appetizer. It was fantastic. Spicy but not too hot, served with the most delicious sweet chili sauce. My husband's entrée was stir-fry veggies and tofu with basil, served with brown rice. The vegetables were perfectly cooked, still slightly crispy, and we loved that it was served in a bowl with a small amount of broth instead of swimming in a thick, oily sauce as we've had at some Thai restaurants. I had the red coconut curry with vegetables, tofu, and rice vermicelli noodles. The portion was huge and I figured there was no way I'd get through it all. But it was so delicious, I found myself scraping up every last drop. We are only visiting New Orleans for six days, but we are planning to eat here a second time before we leave. Can't recommend this place highly enough. Don't be fooled by the out-of-the-way location in a slightly industrial area.

Delicious Thai food! I particularly love the drunken noodles, as well as the green curry -- both with shrimp. The service is efficient and friendly. Banana Blossom is one of my favorite restaurants.

Bourbon noodles with beef is delicious. My new favorite is the yellow curry with tofu. The dumpling appetizer is delicious. Don't forget about the iced green tea. It has a hint of vanilla and it's wonderful.

I went here for the very first time when I first moved to New Orleans in December 2013 and I LOVED it. The food is sooo good. The two dishes I remember having was the roti & the clams. They were so delicious in their own way all thanks to Banana Blossom's special sauce they make. (Please give me the recipe!!!!!!!!) I don't know why I haven't been back yet. I didn't think about how good the flavor and the roti was until I went to a Malaysian restaurant in houston called "Mamak". Which also has roti. Soo yummy!!! (Can you tell I'm having roti withdrawals/cravings???)

Hole in the wall type of restaurant. But those are the best kinds. We did take out and everything was packaged perfectly. Good amount of food for a good price. Although I think $14 for fried rice is a little too much. They also have military discount.

Not sure this shows as closed for Wednesday lunch, as that's when I stopped by . . . Just a little FYI. Anyway this was the site of my Louisiana extended weekend (nearly a week?) departure meal, sniff sniff. I met up with a buddy of mine and I opted for the spicy cashew nut with tofu and brown rice - I specified no fish sauce, "vegan please" and was a bit amused when the lady at a nearby table clarified the same sort of details. Shortly thereafter we received a couple of modest colorfully dressed iceberg lettuce salads with peanut sauce, which we eagerly consumed. Banana Blossom is housed in a tiny strip mall, so it's not the most picturesque scene and it's a fairly cozy establishment - probably not the bestest for massive groups of part people. From what I recall it has a fairly minimalist look about the interior. The menu does highlight a couple of default vegetarian dishes and then of course, you can select tofu as your "meat," but beware of fish sauce and other fish/seafood derived based sauces and whatnot, as with all Thai places. My bowl arrived with a heaping of ample tofu and veggies in a rather thin soupy sauce - which I'm totally fine with, who likes cornstarch? Not me! The nutty and delicious brown rice paired nicely with my spoonfuls of lightly flavored tofu and fresh veggies - it could've been a tad more savory, but I tell myself eliminating the fish sauce probably was the cause of this so was not too terribly concerned! There was plenty left for my drive back to Houston - yes, I totally snacked on this while driving on I-10, not the wisest thing, but I became ravished again around Lake Charles, don't judge! The service was prompt and great as well, so I'll go ahead and four stars it.

  • Jim L.

Don't judge a book by its cover. The yellow sign that says Thai is the only thing that marks this incredible establishment. The service was a little slow, but the wait staff was very friendly. The delicious curry dish and soup that we had were exquisite. I would definitely recommend checking this place out anytime you are in the area.

Great Thai place recommended by a co-worker. Excited to become a regular guest and explore the rest if the menu. I've had the bourbon noodles, pineapple fried rice, and veggie spring rolls all of the items were delicious. Very great for take out service. I have not dined in yet, but when I pick up my orders the staff is friendly. Overall great Thai food and I would recommend for others.

I've been meaning to try this place for some time and, finding myself on the Wank last week, I stopped in for lunch. It was full and I waited for a table for a few minutes but things move quickly there. I was surprised that they didn't have lunch specials but decided to go with BBQ oysters and the Pad Thai. A little side salad came out first, pretty nondescript lettuce shards and unripe tomato, but I really liked the peanut-coconut dressing. The BBQ oysters were plentiful and tasty, almost too salty but I like salt. The roti they came with sopped up the sauce and by the time my Pad Thai came, I was full. Good thing too because I took a few bites of the sloppy-looking mess and didn't like it at all. The tofu tasted old, the vegetables were not fresh and it was very bland. There were a few other things on the menu that appealed to me and I might be persuaded to go back to try them but I would stay far, far away from the Pad Thai.

Best Thai food I've ever had, hands down. The place is small, but not in a bad way. The environment was very quiet and nice. A great place to take your special for dinner!

I really wanted to give Banana Blossom a 4 star rating, but I never leave this place satisfied and I've been her about three times already. Don't get me wrong, there are things that are really good here, but there's some things that's just blehhhh. The Good- Spicy Clams- The sauce is SOO GOOD! The perfect mixture of tang and spice! And I LOVEE the Rote bread it comes with. It reminds e of a crepe. Only downfall is that the clams are SUPER SMALL! It's like you're barely eating anything. Crispy Tofu Salad- I get this everytime! The tofu is perfectly crispy and delicious! The dressing complements the salad really well, but it just doesn't get me full enough :/ Sticky Rice and Mango- This is good at most places and it's not an exception here! The Others BBQ Shrimp- Just okay...nothing really special. Pad Thai- Another ordinary dish. Pineapple Fried Rice- JUST UGHHH!! Especially after you eat the one from SIamese. I have yet to eat one that's better or comparable. Bourbon Noodle- In between good and okay. I wished the noodles weren't so sliced up! Red Curry- WAY TOOO CREAMY! No one could even eat this dish. I LOVE coconut and I wasn't even able to eat this dish because it was so creamy. Coconut Shrimp- Good but just like others. I wish they gave you more. Service was good and they were friendly. So as you can see, I've tried a good bit of the menu, and I'll probably come back because I live the crispy tofu salad and it's the nearest Thai restaurant, but it's definitely not the best here in NOLA!

This is a hard one to score. If I score it like an old hand at West Coast Thai food, or someone who'd been to Thailand, I'd have to give it a 1. But I can't do that. It's Elitist and rude and I'm not feeling overly rude tonight. Maybe later. For now...I'll just say this is Thai for beginners. Sort of like the safety scissors of Ethnic foods. The restaurant equivalent of bumper bowling. Tricycle with chopsticks. You get the picture. So I will just say, it is Thai food. It's a bit more expensive than I would like for the portion size (Unlike John, I came during dinner and maybe they shrank the sizes lately). The waitress was nice enough but I too asked for it Thai hot. She questioned me and I let her know...Make it hotter than you would eat it. For me, Thai (or hotter) spiced pineapple curry with jumbo shrimp. The girly got the coconut shrimp over rice. We also ordered roti (not worth the money for two little roti and a curry dipping sauce...but back to the sauce later). My curry arrived first. It was more like a soup. LOTS of really thin liquid and 5-6 TINY-assed shrimp. I think if they believe THOSE to be jumbo, I'd be very popular with Thai women. Sadly, I'm not so something is wrong there... *Sigh* Anyway... The curry came with about a cup of rice. Even putting all the rice in didn't make it any less like a soup. Didn't even bring it up to porrage range. And it was HOT...but sadly, not spicy hot. Just scalding your mouth like hot soup, hot. It had a good flavor, it really did...but it was watery and wasn't thick enough to stick to the shrimp. SO there they were, tiny and naked little buggers. I felt sad for them; I really did. The girly's coconut fried shrimp were....er....boring. And over sticky rice that she just did NOT like the flavor of. She ended up dipping her shrimp into my curry...when that was too watery to stick, she grabbed the curry dip from the sad little roti and used that. She LIKED that. Like I said, the curry TASTED ok...just not hot and not thick. I asked the waitress if they had some chili paste or that spicy fish sauce so many good Thai restaurants have. She actually acted like I asked for catchup for my cavier or something. Even though they cook with both chili paste and fish sauce, she wouldn't bring me any. That was where I thought maybe I should give 2 stars...But no. I'll be nice. But seriously waitress...when your customer assures you he can take the heat, give it to him. If he asks for simple things like more chili or fish sauce, give it to him. That way, he may come back again one day or give you a good review to go with your "People on Yelp love us!" sticker that's half scraped off your door and was probably left over after Cafe Zen left. Taste=2.5 but free carafe of tea is worth a half point. The roti curry dipping sauce is exactly what my curry SHOULD have tasted like. Best part of the entire meal. Ambiance=3. Simple with weird but oddly comfortable chairs. Value=2. Small portions for the price. Service=2.5 See above about giving the customer what he/she wants.

Been here before and I'm telling you get the spicy clams with roti, the sauce just makes it and the Thai tea is pretty awesome too. I ordered the Bourbon noodles but unfortunately the noodles were overcooked making the already fragile thin noodles mushy and to top it off was quite salty for my taste.

    (3)
  • Shayla A.

I will say the food here is amazing!! I had the Bourbon noodles with the regular rice noodles and the flavor was awesome. My husband had a shrimp curry dish that literally turned us on, it was so good! You can really taste all the different flavors. The only reason it's not a five star is for the service. They were friendly, just a little slow, my fabulous strawberry margarita came out with my food. The food is worth the wait.

This was my first time here. I've had many great Thai curries but this is one if the best. I had the Chiang Mai Noodles and they were amazing. The prices were $$-$$$ but not bad at all. I would recommend trying this restaurant.

Banana Blossom is located in the space formerly occupied by Cafe Zen. I'm not sure when it opened, but to my knowledge, this is the only Thai restaurant on the westbank. The restaurant is small, but has a pretty big menu. I tried the spicy cashew chicken. It was different than other versions I have had (it had broccoli and pineapple), but was still good. I requested Thai hot spice level, but the dish was medium hot at best. The lunch portion was only $8, and is enough for two people. Service was just OK. The waitress messed up the drink order and asked if we needed change on an $18 check (We paid with a $100). I enjoyed my experience at Banana Blossom, but it didn't blow me away. I do recommend it if you happen to be in the area.

Really love love this Thai place! Highly recommend to come. I have been here for almost 5-6 times now. Every time didn't regret me at all. I've ordered many kind of dishes and I think the highlight of this place are pad-Thai, pineapple fried rice, roti and tofu salad. So so good! The service is superb... Friendly and quick. In side the restaurant is very clean and comfortable. The price is also reasonable tooo. Highly recommend, I think it the best Thai place in NOLA. Trust me you won't be regret :)

Meh. This Thai place had VERY limited seating (they should add more tables!) so we decided to get TO-GO instead of eating in. Service was slow because there were not enough waiters and they seemed flustered at the fact that we were trying to make an order. SPICY CLAM APPETIZER- the only thing I liked. This app comes with flavorful baby clams on the shell. It comes with only 1 flat bread per order, however, so I'd suggest ordering a few more pieces, which can be dipped in the sauce as well GREEN CURRY- tasted watered down and as if the vegetables were added on afterward instead of cooked with the curry PAD THAI- average DRUNKEN NOODLES- disappointing; the noodles broke apart too easily and the dish lacked enough basil, spicy-ness and sauce Overall, I've had much better Thai food at more reasonable prices and am surprised at the buzz about this place.

  • Mark S.

Food was amazing. I had the Sweet Basil Wok with Chicken. It was probably the second best Thai Food dish I've had in my life. I also had the Tom Kha, which could have had a little more spice to it, yet is still the best in the city I've had thus far. Even as I looked around at other people's dishes, they all looked very well prepared and the aromas of the food were awesome. The place is not that big, nor is it fancy, but the server/staff/owner were very friendly and seemed to really care about the quality of the their product. I definitely recommend this place if you are in the search of great Thai Cuisine.

Excellent restaurant! Best kept secret of NOLA. The food is incredible and prices you can't beet. My table had the roti appetizer, voodoo noodle, bourbon noodle, curry noodle. All incredible. And the lunch price is $9 per plate for a generous portion. The owner, Jimmy, is so kind and gracious. Always comes out to say hi to diners. You can't beat this place!

Banana Blossom is one of my favorite places to eat on the Westbank. The staff is extremely friendly, and their service is good. Their SPICY CLAMS is the dish that keeps me coming back. My boyfriend and I have to get 2 orders of this because we decided that we didn't want to share it anymore, haha! The roti that comes with it is really good! I'd compare it to a thin croissant, and the sauce that comes with the clams is really yummy! Thai Tea - I get it every time, and it comes in a cool, tall glass. Laap Beef - Good, but it can get a little messy. Calamari - Good, it comes in a cute little basket! Coconut Shrimp - I heard this dish was good maybe I got a bad one. It wasn't bad, but i wish i could've tasted more coconut. I love coconut. Spicy Basil - Simple and tasty. You have an option of having it with chicken, beef, veggie and tofu, shrimp, and seafood. I got the beef. It comes with a side of rice. Pad Thai - didn't really care for Bourbon noodles - Good, best noodles I've tried off the menu Voodoo noodles - Okay Fried Rice and Crispy Chicken - Good. Super Crispy! Desert Sweet Roti - The best desert they offer! Fried banana critters - Pretty good Mango Sticky Rice - Really good. Unfortunately, it's not offered very often I love Banana Blossom! If you're in the Westbank, give it a try.

I really enjoyed this place. They have a great selection of healthy Thai foods available and I love the chicken pad thai. From the outside you wouldn't expect the food to be great, but it is. Even their fried food is delicious. Try the calamari or the avocado rolls for appetizers....very good.

  • Eira T.

I've been here a couple times with friends. The food is fine -- nothing that's ever blown me away, but it's usually pretty solid. The avocado spring rolls are sliced up and have a great spicy peanut sauce. Lemonade is just Minute Maid out of a can, which makes me sad. This place never seems too crowded, and can be easy to miss -- it's in a shopping center set back from the road, and the only indication of its existence is a neon sign that says THAI.

  • John D.

I really love this place. I've never really had much experience with Thai so I can't say I'm an expert in any sense of the word. The atmosphere is relaxing and the restaurant is spotless. The starter salad is refreshing and an actual salad with more than just a chunk of tomato and a bed of lettuce. I probably annoyed my waitress by asking her to explain how they make the house dressing for it. I ended up having the Voodoo Noodle with the tofu/veggie combo as my "meat" choice. Since I don't really have a vegetarian bone in my body I figured I would end walking away from the meal being even more hungry than when I sat down but surprisingly I couldn't even finish the plate. Portion size was really generous and the flat noodles and veggies were absolutely delicious. The tofu tasted like...well, tofu. But not in a dear God I can't even keep this down kind of way. I think the redeeming quality was in whatever soy sauce mixture they used to cook it. Definitely check this place out if you want a quick, affordable, and healthy lunch!

Spicy clams and roti is one of their best appetizers ever! I fell in love ever since my first bite. Coconut shrimp and curry are excellent as well. Pad thai is a too dry for my taste. Their thai tea is hit or a miss. It can be really good sometimes, and it can be really gross. It is just not consistent.

  • Sylvia L.

Good food but wear a tank top ladies if you are there during peak dining hours. The heat in the kitchen comes out into the dining area and even though there are four fans placed in each corner of the room, you'll still sweat if you are there during lunch. Call me picky but I'm not into sweating while I eat. Service could improve, particularly, on refilling drinks but the food is consistently good and the prices are reasonable.

I'm glad there's a good Thai restaurant on the wank. I go here whenever I want a close Thai fix. I love their Roti and Crispy Calamari under the appetizers. The sauce that goes with the calamari makes it 10xs better. The pineapple fried rice is yummy, although they did mess it up the last time I've been there. The chef cooked it to where the rice was super wet and sticky. Gross. Nonetheless, if the chef cooks it right then it will be delicious. I love the coconut shrimp and ginger rice. The coconut shrimp is perfect. I love the flakiness and it comes with that wonderful sweet chili sauce that comes with the calamari. The pad thai here is decent. The Tom Yum (forgot the name of it) soup is just okay. I like the one from Equator better. I haven't yet tried any of the desserts like I wanted to. The food is just so good that I keep eating my entree and I get super stuffed to eat dessert. Everything here is so flavorful. Worth my bucks. Thanks, Banana Blossom.

Just moved to the West Bank and have been searching for good food. My wife and I have had plenty of disappointments but this was not one of them. The best Thai food either of us have had.

  • Annie P.

I love Thai food. However the food here was over priced for what I had. It was good...but not at that price point.

Not sure of any other Thai restaurants on the westbank, but this is where I get my fix!! The chaing mai noodles are so yummy!!! It's brings a smile to my face. If u like curry, try this dish and u will understand what I'm talking about!!

~Ivy.

New Orleans isn't the best for Thai food so I'd really been looking forward to trying out Banana Blossom. I kept seeing its name pop up as the best Thai around, so I was pretty excited when I found myself on the West Bank looking for a quick lunch. I was immediately impressed that the menu went beyond the standard dishes to be expected. I went with with the spicy clam appetizer and khao soi with soft shell crab. The sauce for the clam appetizer was so delicious! Salty, spicy, and sweet all at once. I could have honestly done without the clams and just eaten the sauce with extra roti. I thought the roti were pretty interesting. They're usually flat "patties" when I've had them in Bangkok, but Banana Blossom somehow puffed them up with an air pocket in the middle. Still great either way. Now, khao soi is one of my favorite dishes. Chiang Mai is still one of my favorite cities in Thailand and I usually overload on khao soi when I'm there. Banana Blossom did a pretty good rendition of it. Not as much picked mustard as I like and I added fish sauce to get it as salty as I'm used to, but I still really enjoyed it. It was served with a lemon instead of lime as well I tried soft shell crab just for the heck of it, but would probably go with coconut shrimp or crispy chicken next time. Also, their Thai hot is not really Thai hot in my opinion, so don't be scared of by it. All of the flavor a still came through the spice and were well balanced in general. Definitely going to come back in and try out more dishes!

This place embodies diplomacy. When I lived on the Wank, my friends refused to visit me. These were the same friends that went to China but couldn't cross that bridge. Yet, they will gladly cross it now to eat at Banana Blossom. Love their food and the simplicity of their menu. You pick your protein, starch and sauces for a set price. Portions are huge and flavorful. Love their Coconut Shrimp and Ginger rice dish. My favorite with the pineapple curry coming in second. Tom Yum soup packed a sweet and tangy fish saucy punch. Very rich but only had a single shrimp. Won't reorder the Pad Thai since it needed more flavors and ingredients. Ambiance is clean and comfortable. Good for kids and groups. Located in a nondescript shopping complex so there's always plenty of parking. Only drawback is their service. Hit or miss, a star taken off for inconsistency. They take a while to refill drink orders and to bring your check. Luckily their food hasn't had those problems. So will gladly eat here whenever I'm on the other side of the Great Divide.

There's isn't much I don't like about Thai food...or Banana Blossom! Everything is gingery sweet & spicy goodness and I love every single bit of it. Small location in the Winn Dixie strip mall on Belle Chasse Hwy. Its another go-to lunch spot for me while on The WestBank. So recently I noticed they had a change to the menu...where you can basically pick an entree and add whatever protein and/or veggie you like and its desired heat (med, hot, Thai hot). This way you can basically make any dish suit your dietary needs. they also have some new additions to the menu as well. A couple of my favorite dishes in no particular order are the Shrimp Pad Thai, Tum Yum Ramen noodle bow, chicken curry, or the pineapple fried rice. They also serve a few alcoholic beverages on the menu, but not an extensive selection. Staff here are friendly, atmosphere is quiet, decor modern and clean. A great spot for Thai!

This place is amazing! All the reviews about who needs a fancy sign when the food speaks for itself was right! We had pork rolls, Tom kah soup, calamari and fried rice with tempura chicken. All were so fresh and amazing. We will be back. The quality of ingredients was 5 stars!!

The service was pretty good as well.

this place is pretty hidden bc they don't have a big sign saying "Banana Blossom" it actually just says "Thai." it's hidden in like the farthest corner of a strip mall next to Krewe Yoga and what use to be UPS (just recently learned they're no longer there after being there about a decade at the lease). so I loveeeee Banana Blossom.

Like many others I had a hard time finding this place. I'm not familiar with the west bank. I finally found it and it only said Thai. It wasn't labeled. Any who, the food was pretty good. Just a heads up if you don't like squid or octopus stay from anything with mixed seafood in it.

Great little Thai place on the West Bank. My wife and I come here often for lunch. Quick service and very reasonable prices.

Service is really bad!!! Got the wrong order and didn't feel sorry about it at all. All the seafood are frozen seafood, especially the spicy clams. There are other Thai places in New Orleans has better food and much better service, won't come back again.

Best Thai food I've ever had, hands down. The place is small, but not in a bad way. The environment was very quiet and nice. A great place to take your special for dinner!

I've been here a couple of times and I've enjoyed it both times. Would recommend to friends. I love the crispy chicken with vegetables! They also have tasty spring rolls.
