Best steak sandwiches I've ever had! Stumbled upon it out of nowhere but wow! Highly recommend the smokehouse!

Do NOT place a to-go order, at least within an hour or so before they close. Hard bread. Cold food. Dark Soggy fries cooked in old grease. Dry meat in the cheesesteak. It might be better if you come in during peak time. I won't be back.

When I heard my coworkers say "good cheesesteak" and "south of Philly," I thought they were literally talking about a cheesesteak place south of Philadelphia, not one named South of Philly... Anyway, this place is your typical greasy spoon: a fast lunch to fill you up easy. I ordered a 7" Tiger Steak with onions, and we all shared a large order of onion rings. The flavor of the meat was great, and the sauce on it is pretty great when you can taste it. I also think that lunch is pretty affordable - it hits right at about $10 if you get a cheesesteak and drink and an extra $2 for fries or onion rings. I might be spoiled by how crunchy poboys are, but I like my bread to have a little texture to it - I found the bread at South of Phily to be a little too mushy. Also, it wasn't as spicy as I was expecting (it has jalapeños on it), but that's fine with me - it's only an extra 25 cents for the sauce and jalapeños anyway. South of Philly is a great way to get your cheesesteak fix if you work nearby!

Been wanting to try this place for quite awhile... on 5/7/14 finally got my chance as me and the boy were coming back from a Talented Theater practice at Lake Elementary.... Swung in and ordered up a coupla Roast Beef poboys, cause I agree with John L H that you can tell a place by it's Roast Beef poboy. They serve up sliced Roast Beef as opposed to debris style.... but they serve em dry and dressed.... however they give a nice sized cup of gravy.... now the best way to handle that is pour that gravy on the 2 halves of that monstrous 12" poboy sit back and chat with your lunch or dinner partner and let that gravy soak down....after letting that gravy soak down take a big ol bite and be prepared to enjoy!! Next time I'm in I'm gonna try a Cheese steak with Cheez Whiz....and if you decide to do a basket of fries trust me order the small cause it's enough to feed 2 comfortably! They have an extensive menu with poboys, burgers, cheese steaks and specialty cheese steaks... there will be something for you to enjoy!

The one thing I have a complain about was the bread they use for my shrimp po-boy. It was kinda like a hoagie roll.

I had the surf and turf...it was Very good...I would recommend to add season as there wasn't a drop of season added...therefore it was really lacking in flavor..although it could be that I'm from New Orleans where everything is overly seasoned and I coulda been looking for the same...the bread was fresh and they used what seemed to be real shrimp not the frozen plastic shrimp that restaurants are using nowadays...so for lack of season I'll give it 4 stars...I would try it again.

CRAZY good food. The bread they make the cheesesteaks with, in particular, is spectacular. Shrimp poboy is also insanely good. Fries are fantastical and the onion rings are phenomenal. Not the place to go to on a diet!

Great food, so glad I found this restaurant and will be going back. The only downfall was the counter staff, one being a very immature high school girl who was very loud and squeaky when telling the on-going dramas of Ascension High School. If you can block out the drama and noise and go to enjoy the food then you won't be disappointed.

This place is amazing! From their cheesesteaks to their po boys to their burgers. The Garden Philly and the grilled shrimp po boy are my favorites! The fries are good but the onion rings are better. Anything u get from this place is just about awesome!

Love the Tiger cheese-steak. The french fries are good too. One order is enough for two people.
