Still very solid on the fried oysters, but the fried shrimp need work. Meals arrived with some warm and some room temperature shrimp with taste lacking and soggy texture. Was not impressed with the on-tap beer selections this time. Having only Abita Amber as a local brew almost seems criminal. The remainder of the drafts were national, uninteresting brands. Step it up guys. I don't like giving you only three stars.

I love this place! I've never left here unsatisfied with a meal. The service is also always great. My favorite special is the Tuesday Shrimp Stew special. The Voodoo rolls (appetizer) is also a favorite. Portions are very plentiful, including the kids meals. You seriously can't go wrong with this place. Definitely something for everyone.

We love eating here and it was about time I reviewed it. The service has always been very good and very friendly. The Grilled Shrimp Salad is great. It is loaded with great tasting shrimp and you will go home wanting for more. Plus the Smothered Rabbit is always great tasting!

Been a few times now and loved it each time. The Voodoo Egg Rolls are the best. Try the crabmeat stuffed fish with crawfish sauce. It's delish!

Best restaurant in Covington! Great atmosphere and everything on the menu is delicious!!!! Don't forget to get the Voodoo rolls! If I was told that I could only eat one thing for the rest of my life, I would choose Voodoo rolls!!

I went here for my 18the birthday dinner. I called 2 hours ahead to see if they could do call ahead seating since I was going to have around 15 people because it was my sisters birthday dinner as well, I was told that they couldn't do call ahead but they said it was fine if I just came in with a bunch of people. When I got there we told them 14 people and we were seated in about 5 minutes. Our waitress took or drink orders and gave us menus to look at it. After sitting down for 10 minutes we were asked to get up because they thought out party was another resveration. So I asked if I could reserve and they told me yes Monday through Thursday they could, my dinner was on Wednesday and I was told I could.not reserve it. I spoke to the manager who told me they never do call ahead seating on any circumstances. I was then told it would be an hour before I could be seated. imagine having your drinks, knowing what you want to order, and being asked to get up and not be seated for another hour. we left and went to the Chimes where we were seated in 5 minutes.

Started with a drink at the bar. Bartender not really friendly. Bloody Mary weak. Two employees talking and laughing loudly, playing on facebook at the end of the bar. Got seated when my party arrived. After reading the reviews, I ordered the onyon rings. They weren't any good. Bland batter and flavorless onions. Added salt and pepper, no help. Fried oysters were over cooked; the batter/crust is too thick.

Best place omg everything on the menu is fantastic. Been there over 20 times and I can't say anything bad about them. Me and my Meme go there and sometimes and eat and chat and she's kinda picky but the service is still perfect.

Been to this location a few times over the years and always felt at home with good service, friendly people and solid food. While it's not a fancy spot, they do a good job and making you feel welcome in this laid back atmosphere. It's a cozy little spot where you can go on a date for a chill meal or come with the family and feel at home. Personally, the redfish and catfish are my go-to dishes, but my friend sticks to the Po Boys and neither of us has ever been disappointed. This is yet another Covington restaurant that packs value and yields similar assortments as across the lake in tourist town, without breaking the piggy bank.

Dined here based on other reviews. We ordered the voodoo rolls for appetizer and they were pretty great! They tasted like egg rolls with lots of cheese and crawfish etoufee. Definitely try them out! We also ordered the crab cake Pontchartrain and the stuffed eggplant w crabcake pasta. Both dishes were great. Very large portions and decent service. We'd go back!

Great service and good food!! We started off with cocktails (wow!), raw oysters, and chargrilled oysters- perfect. It's May and I wasn't sure if I should get oysters ("r" months for oysters)..but the waitress assured they were fine- she's right, I can tell when I ate it (and I'm not feeling ill today), it was fresh with NO foul smell/taste. Delivered daily. I should have ordered more! Also, got spinach artichoke dip as appetizer. My boyfriend had the shrimp and catfish platter- perfectly fried, not greasy. I had stuffed eggplant and was recommended to try the "Lafayette sauce" over angel hair pasta. Also, large portions. Definitely coming back, great food, staff and greet, and esp. when the waitress we had was so friendly!! We were 1st timers, and she was absolutely helpful and kind. The location is cute and tucked away. It's downtown Covington and we parked in a public lot and walked to our destination.

Went for dinner. Grilled oysters were great. I ordered the redfish and it was cooked perfectly. My wife had corn and crab chowder which she loved. Entree was mahi mahi which was cooked to perfection and tasted delicious. Service was excellent! Will definitely go back 4.5 stars

New Orleans Food and Spirits offers decent food in one of my favorite areas on the Northshore. Located in downtown Covington, you can't ask for a better location. This quaint old town is home to several great restaurants, and I really enjoy visiting the area. Because the location and style of food are things I like, I have dined here on several occasions hoping that the food will get better. Unfortunately it always seems to be very average. I have tried sandwiches, pasta and their gumbo. If you are not familiar with this type of cuisine I would imagine you would be impressed. For a local though, the food seemed no better than what you'd get at a chain restaurant. A good example would be the blackened shrimp pasta I ordered on my last visit. For $17, I expected a spicy, well seasoned dish. What I got was relatively mild, non exciting pasta. The shrimp were well cooked, but lacked the pizazz I expect when ordering something blacked. Service has always been friendly, but again lacks the friendliness I expect in a local joint. This isn't a bad restaurant, and I may be tempted to try it again, but for my money, there are many other restaurants that I like better in this area.

I love the food and the atmosphere at this restaurant. Taste of New Orleans with a nice selection of Cajun favorites: red beans & rice, gumbo, crawfish étouffée, etc. I always enjoy going here with friends &/or family.

Some may disagree with my review but I'm a huge foodie. The food here is at the same caliber as The Olive Garden. The dinner salad is made iceberg salad and bland tomatoes. The stuffed eggplant was heavenly salted. It's a shame a great atmosphere and location is wasted. I'll never take time to eat here again.

Stopped in while shopping the unique shops near by and we were pleasantly surprised. I ordered the half po' boy and cup of soup lunch special. Opted for catfish and seafood gumbo. Both tasted fresh and the portion size was perfect for lunch. Good service, nice atmosphere, reasonable prices... I would not hesitate to eat here again.

Consistently good food and service. We had seafood gumbo, shrimp po-boy & grilled shrimp salad. All was very good and abundant amount of shrimp in all dishes

I am a local and a big fan. My kids love this place as well. They love the VooDoo rolls. The Gumbo is very good, as they use Crab which makes a gumbo taste good. The staff is friendly and the service is good. I have always had very tasty meals here. I go at least twice a month and the food is very consistant. Its all good! Paul

I'm giving this place 2 stars as I have been here 2 times and the first time, well it was OK. The most recent time I visited I wanted to just walk out and never come back. My most recent visit was on 10/7/11. Me and a friend walked in and were never greeted. It was around 4pm and I thought, oh heck they must have just opened the doors. Nope, wrong they had been open for several hours so I just chalked it up to a shift change and didn't get myself too upset. We sat bar side and proceeded to wait about 10 minutes while the bartender and the servers chatted with one another. Finally we were able to flag someone down and beg for a drink. I honestly felt like we were breaking up some sort of fun time party. As we sat and drank our drinks we got a nice show of watching one of the waitresses fix her hair at the bar mirrors. HELLO?? isn't there a restroom for such things. What is even worse is that the open cooking area is just about an arms length away from the bar. After the waitress managed to get her hair done just right she never went to wash her hands. Then to top it off I got to watch her play with a soup spoon for a while while she waited for the order to come up. Yes she fondled and flipped this spoon around and as the order came up, placed it on the plate and delivered the goods to the table. I looked around and couldn't find anyone who looked like they might be a manager or I would have gladly informed them of the issues. Service was poor, drinks were pricey and after watching this one server I will never eat here.

Ate at this place for lunch today and it was one of the best places i've ever eaten at in Louisiana, and I am from cajun country...Avoyelles Parish... eaten all over the state from Monroe to New Orleans to Lafayette and this place is hands down the best. I don't know if we just lucked up or what but this place kicked yeah and the portion sizes were great. best hush puppies eva!!! only minor issue was they gave some healthy request butter...

This a good place for fried seafood and creole fare in downtown Covington, especially now that Acme moved. You get a LOT of food so it's really not too expensive. There is the usual stuff: salads with grilled or fried shrimp or oysters, poboys, grilled fish with crab and crawfish sauce, various permutations of seafood and pasta, and really decadent: fried catfish topped with crawfish ettoufee (get this.) Dinners come with hushpuppies and green salad. The potato salad is really good too and goes well with a cup of gumbo if you want something light.
