If you are looking for AUTHENTIC Mexican food and great margaritas, look no further. My first experience with La Hacienda was at the Ambassador location ans it was great. When I moved to Broussard, I was eager to try this location and I must admit I crave their food and visit on a regular basis. The staff is friendly and is a great place for anyone at any age!

OK, I once liked this place...but I was a victim of credit card fraud after using my card here, and it was all too strange that the transaction was made in TEJAS! Maybe it was just bad timing, and maybe pay in cash???

We had diner there about a week ago I cannot see why anyone would eat here the queso was filled with taco meat and very greasy. The enchiladas were terrible the beef taco was greasy and had no taste. The restraunt was empty and staff was slow.

We regret to report that the meal was just awful. We both ordered shrimp and what a mistake it was. Jumbo shrimp stuffed with cheese n wrapped in bacon was mainly bacon. Most certain not jumbo shrimp. We had not been here in several yrs and won't ever return. Yes it was that bad.

Love! Best Queso ever! Me and my husband drive 100 miles to eat here. One of our favorites in the area. Miss living in the area because of this place. My husband always gets the pork burrito special. I think it's the #11 on the lunch menu. He raves about it.

This really is authentic Mexican. Try the quesadillas that come with queso on them, so so delicious. Great salsa too!

Went to the Ambassador Caffery location. Finally Lafayette gets a Mexican restaurant that can see past sour cream and yellow cheese. Checked this place out for lunch. Had a good lunch menu with variety $8 -$10. Had the salsa verde pork burrito, great flavor of tomatillo and garlic with hunks of pork roast, not ground pork. Friend had a shrimp chimichanga, also very good. Both served with Homemade refried beans and Homemade Mexican Rice, both much better quality than served at other places. Good portions for the price. Will definitely go back for dinner; awesome looking seafood dishes and other Mexican specialties on the menu. Also have the more familiar stuff for the kids or less adventurous. YAY!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
