Authentic food at great prices and large portions. If you are looking the real Mexican, their place is it. Also we ordered margaritas, and they were strong and flavorful.

This is a very good Mexican restaurant, and definitely worth the drive from Fort Knox to E-town for! I was taken here one evening by a Mexican friend who told me the name means "the cacti." I don't know what exactly cacti have to do with this place, but it's overall a very unusual location to begin with. I mean the restaurant has a separate area where they sell CDs, cans of juice, boxes of candy, and a whole bunch of other stuff. I guess the owners have the right to do that if they want, but it's not very often you come across a restaurant that's also some kind of store. Anyway, they were quick to seat my group and bring out chips and salsa. They did a good job at this for a few reasons. First of all, the chips were already warm and toasty when they arrived at the table. They were also attentive enough to bring out a second tray of chips before the first one was done. The salsa came in two bottles for the spicy variety and a milder version. They gave us each smaller bowls for us to pour the salsa into and allow us to double dip from our individual bowls. It's also not very often you find a restaurant that has a well-thought out system for something so simple. My entree was the Combo D'light for $12.50, and it came to the table in a fairly short time considering how busy the place was. It was a plate with grilled chicken and steak that were delicious. To the side were a very soft rice, guacamole, shredded lettuce, and tomato. I imagine the whole thing would have made for some pretty amazing tacos, but they put it on a plate instead. I'm fine with that, but the dish seemed to get cold way too fast with the way it was spread out, allowing heat to disperse quickly. That's just about my only complaint with Los Nopales. Definitely one of the better restaurants I've been to in the area.

Greeting and seating was rapid and on point. Food was served in a timely manner and was seasoned to make the taste buds do a happy dance, probably because they were wearing little sombreros that Los Nopales sells. Overall experience was pleasant and enjoyable.

This is a pretty run of the mill Mexican restaurant in a town with a lot of them. The food is about what you would expect at any Mexican restaurant and the prices are ok. They have all of the usual drinks and the service is really hit or miss. The food is always hot and always tastes like you would think it should.

I mean, I wasn't expecting too much for a Mexican place in the middle of nowhere Kentucky. But it wasn't bad. The beers and margaritias for happyhour were about the same price as my soda... lol and that doesn't mean the soda was expensive. The drinks were CHEAP.

We moved here in December, and have been looking for a good Mexican restaurant in the area. We have tried a couple different ones in Radcliff and they were okay, but nothing to write home about, so we thought we'd try this place. This is now our favorite Mexican restaurant in the area! The service was excellent...so friendly! The food was outstanding, and the top shelf Margaritas were great (you could actually taste the Tequila, unlike most places :). We will definitely be coming back often.

My husband and I LOVE Mexican food, and this place surpasses anything we've ever had! Prices were reasonable, quantity was great, service was awesome, and the food was fantastic! I swear I was still full the next day! Left there with enough leftovers to feed everyone again. Plus they have ice-cream cones at the end that my kids loved. Will definitely go back and strongly encourage others to try it!

Not exactly sure what part of Mexico these people are from that run this place.. But it's definitely NOT "authentic mexican food" They have listed on the menu "real Chili Relleno" now any mexican restaurant that I have ever been to (and I have traveled all over Mexico lived in Southern California, Arizona, and a small town in Oregon that was predominantly Hispanic. So I am not "new" to mexican food) has never served me something that looked like dog food and called it a chili relleno. The beans were out of a can, the rice was just gross, salsa was just ok and the chips were from a grocery store.. I'm sorry Kentucky but this is not the real deal.. Still looking for a great mexican restaurant there has to be one in this town.

This is my and my husband's favorite Mexican restaurant in town. Some of the other places in town are affiliated, if I'm not mistaken, but the food varies from place to place. Los Nopales always wins out for us! We always come here because our food is always prepared correctly, tastes great, and there is never a long wait, even if the place is packed. Other places in town can't beat that! Not to mention, everyone here is always so friendly and service is excellent! I have a handful of dishes that I rotate between - the Acapulco Special and chicken chimichangas being my favorites. They are both relatively simple dishes, but I love them. We almost always order cheese dip too, even though a few Hispanic friends have mentioned that restaurants in Mexico or even on the west coast do not have this - it is definitely an east coast/southern addition. We love cheese, so I'm not going to complain

Flavorful food at a great price. Ate here frequently, the food was consistently good. Not the best Mexican food I've ever had, but it's good food. Kind of odd layout, but the staff were very friendly. We always got good service there. I always enjoyed our meals there. I kind of miss the place actually, this was our go to place when we lived in Etown.

Food is decent, and depending on the day, the service ranges from super fantastic to down right awful. I have had services from the latter unfortunatley. They throw the chips and salsa on the table, charge extra For jalapeños and sour cream and barely check in. The food is ok, taco salad and the nachos is what I usually get. When I was pregnant, however, the chicken nachos is what essentially made my pregnancy bearable. I craved it about 3x a Week

I'm a picky Californian but thought this place was fantastic. The margarita was top shelf (pun intended). The taquitos were the best I ever had. The grandmothers quacamole was very good. Id go again and again.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
