I have had a lot of success staying in Courtyards but this was probably one of the worst I stayed in. The lobby is nice and updated but everything else needs a serious update. The beds were broken down and the carpets were dirty. The bed sheets had a musty smell to them. Several marks and scratches on the walls of the room. The room was a couple years past a new paint job. If they ever update the rooms, it would be a good place to stay. There is several restaurants with in a short walking distance or a short drive. There is also a mall with in walking distance. Hopefully they update the rooms but until they do, I would stay else where.

As far as Courtyards go, this one can be passed up. My first impression was that it seemed odd that it was so empty. The impression did not improve as the hallways were dirty and in need of vacuuming. The beds too soft (old and broken down), the whirlpool out of service, the in room a/c did not work, and every time I went past the front desk, there was another guest complaining about something. One night was all I could tolerate here, so I checked out and went to another hotel for the rest of the week. The worst of it was, when I told the desk clerk why I was leaving, she made excuses. Even worse, when the GM heard why he chastised me and told me "lots of people like soft beds". Well, those "lots" can stay there, I will not.

I have been staying at this hotel for just around 5 months now. I've got to know many of the staff members including Scott the GM, Hanna one of the front desk staff, and Paul in the cafe. I travel a lot and find that the staff here is top notch. You can really tell that Scott runs a tight ship as it shows through his team members. While the rooms aren't the Ritz, none of the hotels in Topeka are either. I wouldn't trade the high level of service for a different room. I recommend this hotel to every coworker that comes to Topeka to help out and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay while visiting.

I am a platinum Marriott member so I don't review often but the brand should be ashamed of this hotel. Renovating the lobby but leaving the rooms dirty and old and untouched is literally putting lipstick on a pig. I have had to stay here twice and both times were bad. Air conditioning didn't work. Not clean (stained chairs and bedspread)...I would go someplace else and that pains me to say as a Marriott person. BUT....the staff is amazing and professional and very helpful. Too bad they are stuck at this property.

I have been staying at the Courtyard for a few weeks. I must write this review to give kudos to the front desk staff and maintenance for helping me in my time of need. On Monday, when I was about to drive to my workplace, my rental had a flat tire. Of course, the auto makers in their wisdom decide to replace a spare tire with an air compressor. That did not work so, when I asked the front desk to call me a cab, he said, it would take over 40 minutes and volunteered to drop me and pick me up from work to get the rental car situation solved. The maintenance man, looked for a spare and could not find one. Both were provided great service. I just hope they update the rooms soon.

The remodeled lobby looks great. Nice, contemporary layout. However, the rooms were less than desirable. They still were dated, and not very clean. During breakfast, the attendent at the food counter seemed overwhelmed as the line for coffee and food started getting very long. Wi-fi speeds weren't great, but the staff was very friendly and accommodating.

Nice, renovated lobby. But hotel rooms are sub-par compared to other Courtyards around the country. Better experience up the street at Hyatt Place.

What is it about the city of Topeka that most of the hotels in the area are dated ? I have been living in various Courtyards all over the country, and the one thing that I love is consistency. No matter which location, I always feel safe and comfortable. They have a great rewards system, and their staff are very helpful friendly. They also have a great rewards system that you can earn marriott points that could be used for free stays or fancy merchandise from their rewards catalog. This particular location is located right on wannamaker which provides easy access to various restaurants and shopping. The rooms have also been power washed which helps to get rid of most of the carpet stains, smells, etc. If you are ever find yourself in the middle of Kansas, and you are looking for a place to stay, I highly recommend you check out the Marriott Courtyard.
