I went here with a work associate this summer. The food was AMAZING! We had the pork belly starter and both got the steak tips entrée. They also have a fantastic assortment of cocktails that you won't find any where else. My friend ordered a Manhattan and it came with a giant cube of ice. Pretty cool!

The short ribs with carrot risotto were really good except for the fact that it was super expensive and mostly blubber. My brother had the lobster ravioli and it was extremely disgusting. Step-mom had the scallops. She never commented on them but she ate everything. This place was a miss.

Stopped in at 6pm on a Tuesday night; sat at the bar because I was traveling alone on business. Ordered and was delivered a glass of Malbec and looked at the menu and waited....and waited.....and waited for bartender to come back and ask me if I wanted to order something to eat. I was totally excited about all the specialty cheeses and charcuterie. I decided on the $16 small plate called "Cheesemonger's Selection" because it boasted a "special customized pairing...that highlights a cheese and or charcuterie offering with handmade accompaniments." It was delivered with no explanation so I had no idea what I was eating. I waited....and waited.....and waited to get the bartender's eye so I could ask about the selection. Finally was told it was the Valencay cheese (3 small slices) and some special strawberry Ketchup served with 6 "crackers." I PAID $16 for that? There is a selection on the menu for Valencay cheese that was $12, so what's up with that? So I waited.....and waited...and waited and finally asked and was told that difference was the strawberry ketchup and crackers? Really? WOW! ALL delivered with a generous portion of condescension. I travel A LOT for work and I have eaten at some of the best (and worst) restaurants. This one just misses the mark. And so pretentious. All in all, i find this place overpriced, snooty, and not a good value. I don't mind shelling out some $$$ for high-end F&B and service, and I often do as I used to work in a high-end restaurant myself, but this was just a bad experience, from start to finish. If you are in Manhattan, your money is better spent at Harry's.

Terrible service. Tenderloin was overcooked. Twice. Kitchen has no clue. Only reason I give them any stars at all is they comped the steak.

No complains on the service side but my halibut was cooked to oblivion, which is pretty sad. I could have eaten a cheap piece of tilapia and had the same result. The restaurant was slow that night too, so to serve fish that overlooked is just carelessness. The ambiance is nice, service is fine, but my recommendation is to stay away from expensive proteins that actually take experience to execute properly.

A bit pricey but a wonderful place to go. Drinks are great and nice that they always have different specials for their entree. I have to say the lobster ravioli is my favorite. Very rich but wonderful! Tip go early at 4 when they open so u can go to their little dessert shop next door!

4 Olives is one of the nicest restaurants in town. I tried to eat here a few weekends ago and without reservations, the wait was around 2 hours! I decided to come back tonight because my friend was back in MHK for work, and we both had not been here yet. Our server Ashley was outstanding. She was very kind and attentive, and patient when explaining such a complicated menu. There were several menus on the table when we were seated. The main menu has a lot of words on it, broken up by small plates, salads, entrees, cheese courses, and charcuterie. The back of the menu had an extensive wine list. There was also another wine list in a giant book-style menu, a small cocktail menu book, and then the nightly special menu. There was a prix fixe with specials that could each be ordered separately: a caesar salad with beef kebab, seared maple glazed scallops with red pepper risotto, and a duo of mini creme brulee (vanilla bean and salted caramel). The amuse bouche was listed as avocado buttermilk gazpacho. I ordered a bellini and my friend a "Bourbon and Brash" which included some liquor-soaked cherries for garnish. I was surprised that since we did not order the special, we were still greeted with the amuse bouche, served on happy spoons. It was really delicious! I started with a small size roasted beet salad. The beets were in strips rather than chunks which was a nice change. It was a spinach salad with goat cheese, warm walnuts, and the beets. My friend started with a cheese course with cheese made from buffalo, accompanied with bread. For his entree, he got the lamb shank with Israeli couscous and Moroccan spices. I decided to go a little out there for Kansas and get the oysters on the half shell. The mignonette was very delicious. I enjoyed these oysters from British Columbia. We opted out of dessert but were treated to a sample of the chocolate covered toffee with roasted almonds - what a treat! With a meal full of surprises and great service, I was pleasantly surprised. Obviously I ate light, but there are many options for all types of diners here. I would come back for a special occasion.

BLUF: The food is okay. They have raw oysters. Good location. Large drink selection. Bartenders are consistent. Worth a try. We came out to 4 Olives for oysters and drinks after we had dinner somewhere else. I've also been here before for dinner with a friend. My rating for this place is based on both visits. 4 Olives has a simple, modern design with see through dividers and mirrors throughout the restaurant. Good place to go for a date IMO. There are a few other bars/restaurants in the area which is good for a bit of bar hopping if you want to stay more low key, away from Moro St. The first time - I got the lobster ravioli; it was very rich and tasted great... for the first couple of bites. It was on the salty side, and a bit too cheesy. Had the Pimm's Cup as my drink and it was alright. They do have a large selection of cocktails which is a plus. Took me awhile to make a decision. Overall, my dinner experience was A-OK. The second time - came back here with my fiance the night before I went overseas. We had dinner somewhere else and felt like having a drink and some raw oysters. The drinks were once again, alright. no complaints. The oysters were much better than I expected considering we are in the middle of nowhere Kansas. Prices are normal compared to any other "fancy" restuarant when it comes shellfish. I will continue to go to 4 Olives to try other drinks they have on the menu and of course the oysters if I can't wait until I go to Kansas City to get them.

World class venue. Great employee engagement, outstanding food, mixed drinks, and wine. There are a number of reasons this business easily earns five stars. Here are some of them: Decor: This restaurant has a nuanced decor that is truly superb. An extensive, climate-controlled wine cellar behind glass is featured as decor. Management-Employee engagement: clearly evidenced by my server Brittany, who seems to have really strong training, representing a "best-in-show" serving experience. Drinks: An extensive wine list, plus skilled bartenders, and a full repertoire of alcohol complement the great food. Food: World-class, highest quality, attention- to-detail, foodie kind of menu. Locally-sourced menu items where possible. The menu is substantial: whole sections on small plates (tapas), cheese, charcuterie, and gourmet entrees. Probably should be on the top of the list for "Best Datenight Restaurant-Midwest". An oasis of culture and class worthy of recognition and patronage. Watching any reality show on the cooking channels on cable television it becomes clear this restaurant is above and beyond what is glorified by celebrity chefs on the East and West Coast of America.

Ever since 4 Olives moved downtown, it's been on our weekly list of places to hit. Although one of the most, if not THE most, expensive restaurants in town, you're always guaranteed an excellent meal. You are guaranteed an amuse bouche from the chef to try with the most extensive wine, beer and cocktail lists in all of KS/MO. The charcuterie and cheese offerings are varied and solid. Salads are fresh and interesting. Seared scallops in shiitake broth-outstanding. Beef tips equally delicious. Once the weather turns warmer and the days get longer, dinner and a walk down Poyntz makes this downtown spot a place to visit.

So maybe valentines night wasn't the best night to come and try this place. Reservation was 20 minutes past our reservation time. No napkins given with out meal. Table is sticky. Waiting about an hour and fourth five minutes for our food.... Still haven't received our food. (This is a set menu mind you) they ran out of the complementary appetizer... 10 minutes later...Oh look our food... Meat was over cooked for all of us(filet mignon) potatoes cold.... Over all food was only okay. Dessert was yummy.

Came here for Valentine's Day. For the prices that 4 Olives charges, things had better be perfect. The only thing that wasn't subpar about the meal was the wine, which was fantastic. However, it would have been nice to have been told what wine had been paired with our courses. Additionally, it would have been nice if the waitress had brought the wine out at the same time as she served us our food, rather than about 25 minutes after each course. They did not serve us the amuse bouche which was part of what we had ordered. My filet mignon was tasty, but cold, which is unacceptable. The potatoes were lumpy. We were also not given napkins. Finally, fine dining requires using quality ingredients. If you create a tiramisu cheesecake, do not use whipped cream out of a can as a garnish. Actually make some whipped cream using real cream. Anything else is diner quality dessert. Obviously, they were busy, but that shouldn't be any sort of excuse when every single table there had been booked at least a week in advance and they had a Valentine's Day menu with only a couple options.

I wasn't sure reading the reviews but I was pleased with my experience. We had the fresh Oysters, K-Strip, Lobster Ravioli and Creme Brulé. All was delicious, service and ambiance was nice. Extensive wine list but the staff was wonderful about recommendations and knowledge. The portions were quite large, surprising for a place like this. I would recommend a reservation to be sure they can accommodate you as people tend to come here to enjoy the food and company. We stayed for 3.5 hours as did many others, it's just that kind of place.

This place is the best. Food is cooked to order and comes out hot and delicious. Great wine selection and some of the best service you will ever get in a restaurant. I just got back from there and wish I could go back the next day to try another wonderful item on their menu. You will think you are in Manhatten New York instead of Manhatten Kansas.

4 Olives can't, and therefore shouldn't', do Sunday Brunch. My wife and I went there for Easter Brunch. I order the Crab cake and eggs Benedict, she ordered the scallop crapes in Bearnaise sauce. The crab cakes were burnt, the crapes came to the table stone cold. On the second try at the crapes they came warm but with sauce at one end and dry at the other. No kidding I-Hop would have done a better job with brunch. If this is the best 4 Olives can do at brunch they should simply do their patrons a favor and stop. I would give this meal a 1 star out of 10.

For the price nothing special. Small portions. Bland tasting food. Small portions. Will I be back? Probably not. Server was nice and helpful.

Looking for a place in Manhattan, KS that can accommodate gluten free, nut free, soy free or vegan dietary restrictions? If so, do not come to 4 olives. My wife and I stopped in 4 olives this weekend at 5pm for a glass of wine and took a look at the menu with plans to come back for a late dinner. We gave an allergy card to our server and asked if the chef would be able to make accommodations for a few certain dishes or make a simple dish like grilled salmon and vegetables. The response we got back was an outright refusal to make any attempt to accommodate my wife's food allergies. I have actually received more gracious service from a truck stop line cook in western Kansas that was willing to spend the two minutes to figure out what items fit the list of allergies. I am appalled by the attitude of the chef that we were not worth the time of day, even with only 3 other customers in the entire restaurant. The chef just down the street at Harry's is more than willing to bend over backwards to make sure everyone is able to enjoy themselves in his restaurant. I will never be back to this place. The one star is for having a decent, but overpriced and a bit stale, glass of wine on a hot day.

Went in late on a Thursday night for dessert. Enjoyed a wine flight with Italian Lemon Pudding Cake. Everything was delicious! Service was slow because they were short staffed supposedly. Will definitely return.

We had a party of 8 and they could not find our reservation, but were able to seat us. The wine menu is extensive and reasonable. They don't keep their wines chilled, so each bottle has to be chilled at the table, which is inconvenient. Everyone was pleased with their meals and the cost was reasonable. Our service was not acceptable for the cost of the meal and drinks. We had to pour our own wine several times and water glasses were allowed to go dry.

The food was very good, but small portions. The service was VERY slow....our waitress served our party of 10 by bringing out the cocktails one to two at a time....that was annoying. The appetizers were delicious, but again slow. For what people are spending on JUST an entree, the service overall was lacking. The server basically took the order, served the food and nothing in between. I would recommend going here but they certainly need to train their collegiate staff better.

Have been meaning to get to try the new location and was quite disappointed that we wasted a nice meal out with my family at this place. Wilted greens in the salad, no breads on the table, so so service, entrees that were meh, and a underwhelming dessert menu. The place looks great on the corner, but the back room makes you feel like you are sitting in a cafeteria. I want to love this place but for a 20 to 30 dollar a plate restaurant it leaves much to be desired.

4 olives!!! Wow what a gem in the Little Apple! The food was delish. The wine...amazing! The ambiance...upscale but very comfortable! Yes it's pricey but if you want gourmet, be prepared to pay! If you can't appreciate the little eccentricities, or don't care to dress up for dinner, Rock a Belly's is in Aggieville!

I'll start off by saying that this is the best restaurant in manhattan. That being said, it's disappointing that the restaurant moved from the west side of town, which is sorely in need of more restaurants. The new location doesn't add anything to the ambience if the restaurant. Also, coming from CA, the prices on the menu on comparable to prices in CA ( and sometimes higher with smaller portions). The wine list is impressive, but the some of the bottles are priced at 3 to 4 times the retail price, which seems excessive. 4 Olives recently had Negroni week, kind of amusing since I tried to order a Negroni there last summer, and after I explained to the server what went into a Negroni was told they didn't have the ingredients with which to make one.

The steak is dry and employs a large amount of sauce to cover it up. Nice staff. Great environment.

This place has amazing food, and drinks. I love that they often change the menu. It's full of things I have never tried before. The drink list is awesome. However if you order a martini it takes awhile to get it, even if it's not busy. The new restaurant looks very contemporary, and it has a whole wall dedicated to their wine case, which is great. It's pretty expensive though. You might be spending 50$ on yourself if you want to get an appetizer, entree, and some drinks. Oh well, it's delicious.

Arugula salad was pretty good but could have been fresher. However the duck entree was perfectly prepared and the wild rice accompaniment was delicious. The lobster potpie was just the right size, very tasty but the lobster was a little tough. Service was great; Rebecca and Sara were very attentive and professional - truly delightful. Martinis excellent!
