The Estofado is absolutely delicious! Grilled peppers, onions and perfectly grilled shrimp over a bed of rice. Yes, can we say healthy in a Mexican restaurant! The service was another story. Our waiter was not attentive to us at all. The place was pretty busy when we arrived but it didn't remain that way. I had to call another waiter over to ask for more salsa and water - this was after we waited 15 minutes for our waiter to show up. The hostess even stopped to check on us - maybe she sensed my frustration. I might give this place another try because it seems the food is solid. 3 stars for food, 2 star for service

Conveniently located outside the front gate of Fort Leavenworth. Stopped in for lunch. Chips and salsa come free of charge. Salsa is okay, but only average. It was also served cold, which may have thrown the taste off just a bit. Ordered the Trio meal - steak, chicken and shrimp that comes with rice, beans, guacamole, and flour tortillas. Meat/seafood was way over salted. Shrimp were so salty to make them almost inedible. Rice and beans were average. Service was good. Prices were okay. Next time I'll try another Mexican restaurant.

I was promptly seated and served chips and salsa. Good so far. I ordered the fish tacos, and was again served right away. The flour tortillas were completely soggy. There was WAY to much liquid for any typical fish taco. I could barely hold it. I took a few bites and left.

We've eaten here a few times in the last month since it's right outside the main gate of Fort Leavenworth. Normally I order the fajitas which are reasonably priced and pretty good. Today we ordered the saturday special, which is 2 combination plates for $11.99, BIG MISTAKE. The taco meat was dry and had absolutely no seasoning at all. I'm not sure what the problem was but my meal seemed to consist of random, tasteless ingredients covered in lots of shredded cheese. Terrible food, but decent service. I would give 1 star but I've had good meals there before. I may go back there but I will order only the fajitas from now on.

What's not to love? Extremely fast service, generous portions, great food and friendly waitstaff. Ordered the chimichanga, and it was out within 5 min with fresh sides.

Don't know if it was because I cam in close to closing time or what, but it was barely ok as far as the food goes and I found the fact that they have corn dogs and fries on the menu at a Mexican restaurante a little odd (my daughetr thought it was great).

If you are looking for good Mexican food.... Then eat here at your own risk!! The waiter was ok except he didn't understand or speak English that well. Either that or it was because the music was so loud he couldn't hear what we were ordering. This place offers free chips and salsa, the free part is the only good thing about them. They'd be crazy to charge anyone money for that mess. Their salsa tastes like they use straight up tomato sauce and just add some onion and cilantro. The waiter messed up our drink order which wasn't that big of a deal but the margarita we ordered tasted more like the Jungle Juice I used to drink in high school than something with alcohol in it besides the fact that it was on the rocks instead of frozen like we ordered it. Next we ordered nachos which were pretty good and the best part of the meal except that we ordered the nachos with beans but he brought nachos with beans and beef. Again not sure if he understood what we were saying or the music was too loud. For the entree we ordered the Special Dinner but there wasn't anything special about it. The beef in the enchilada was dry, the sauce tasted like spaghetti sauce, the chalupa also had dried out beef, the chile relleno wasn't a poblano like the description said it was, and the tamale had shredded beef or pork. (it was so over cooked and dried out we couldn't tell.) I am giving this place two stars only for the nachos... I will not be going back again anytime soon unless someone else is paying! Try this place at your own risk!

Had a great experience at Casa Agave. Fast service with excellent chips and salsa start the meal off right. They provide small bowls so everyone at the table can have their own salsa. No awkward reaching across the table. Margs were big and plenty strong. Food came fast and the quality was good. Will be back when I visit family in the area again.

Second time visiting Casa Agave and the service was bad. They weren't too busy (not that many patrons) and they messed up our order. I ordered the Burrito El Capitan with beef (first time was with chicken) and it was tough and dry. Had to flag the server down to get refills. Seriously, one of the worst dining experiences ever.

A very good spot to eat and have a drink right off the main gate of Fort Leavenworth. They have daily specials and the food is always authentic and rich in flavor. I love Mexican cuisine and I was not disappointed by the variety and taste. The margarita was equally as fantastic.

This restaurant is far better than the other reviews would indicate. Apparently, there was a change in management and staff and the results are quite delicious. My wife and I had great salsa and chips, her chile rellenos were delicious, and I really enjoyed the Mama Mia with the steak and poblano peppers. The drink special was very reasonable and our waitress was attentive and sweet. We would definitely go back there again.

I want to start by saying the food here was great. The service is the WORST I have ever had in a restaurant. We have 3 small children so we like to go out to eat before 5. Tonight we arrived at this restaurant at 4:45, our waiter took our drink order and I also order cheese dip at this time. Our waiter promptly returned with our drinks, (no lids or straws for our 4 and 6 year old) if you have children you know that a 4 year old really could use a smaller glass with a lid or at least a straw. After he dropped off our drinks and cheese dip we did not see him again until 5:27 when I found him and asked him to take our order. By this time the kids were restless and starving. Everyone at our tables drinks had been empty for 20 minutes and the chip basket had been empty as well. After I asked the waiter to refill our drinks, chips and take our order the food arrived in a decent amount of time. I did not get what I ordered but I decided to eat it anyway because the kids needed to get out of the restaurant. While we were eating the manager stopped by our table and asked how everything was. I told him what had happened and he said ok. When the waiter returned we got our check and they had given us the 10% military discount. Which we would have gotten anyway. Personally I think the manager could have at least said he was sorry for the bad experience and maybe not make us pay for the 10$ dish we hadn't ordered.

Got there was seated promptly. The party I was with all ordered water. Water came I took a drink and my throat started burning. There was bleach in the water for some inconceivable reason. I informed the waiter and he took the water trying to explain but didn't speak English they offered 50% off and gave me insurance information in case I need led medical attention. So if you want an authentic Mexican meal where like Mexico you shouldn't drink the water come here. Eat and drink at your own risk

Not the best Mexican food by a long shot. I guess I can't quite get over the strange smell at the host stand/entrance. They have your basic staples. Service is fine. It's good for a quick meal.

Nope, sorry folks, you probably don't want any part of this. We were in Sunday with a very large group, 18 or so of us and many of them children. At 3 pm, the place was quite empty (as expected at an odd hour like 3) so seating was not an issue. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Chips, salsa and drinks came quickly. The mango lemonade was really quite good. The salsa had a nice spice to it and the chips were warm with light salt. We ordered. Staff was kind enough to split our checks for us. The food came out quickly and was hot. All of the kids were pleased with their meals. Not true for the adults however... My husband had a steak and poblano burrito. No seasoning on the steak. I had cheese enchiladas topped with red sauce and roasted pork. The tortillas were oddly rubbery. The pork was mostly ok seasoning-wise, but very dry. The red sauce was inedible. My entree came with guacamole. I had hoped that would salvage the meal for me, or at least take some of the sting out of it. Not so. The guac tasted like it was loaded with preservatives, it was anything but fresh. Typically when my husband and I eat Mexican from a restaurant we know, we'll split fajitas. We almost did that here and I assure you we regretted the mistake. A couple of the adults with us had fajitas and they enjoyed them. Said everything was well seasoned and tasty. So, the GOOD: Fajitas, Mango Lemonade and service. The BAD: unfortunately, the more authentic dishes seem to fall into this category.

A slightly-above-average semi-authentic Mexican restaurant. I came here for lunch and decided on the Casa Agave Steak Fajitas and a cerveza Tecate. It came with 3 flour tortillitas and mixings of sour creme, rice, refried beans, lettuce and a weird looking guac. The fajita meat came out sizzling... but was a little disappointed to see about 2/3 veggies and 1/3 meat. It all tasted pretty good and I was hungry so had not trouble finishing both the plate and my beer before heading back to work. Besides the quirky paintings of oddly dressed military/civilian green peppers and few other slightly off factors such as the watery salsa and bland chips it was a pretty good diversion to the usual offerings available on- and off-base FT Leavenworth.

I love the snotty yelp crowd who look down on solid restaurants in middle-of-nowhere towns. This restaurant is fine. The food is good, desserts are great, and drinks are strong and generous. They have several gimmicks they do to create value, but again, this place is fine. Quit being weird.

Fast service, good hot food. Kids menu, long full menu. Some dishes a bit spicy for the faint of tongue. Large portions.

The ambience is great and makes you want to shout out "ole!". However, the chips are just okay and the salsa is weak. The fajitas were not as sizzling or seasoned as I like. But the service was really good.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
