Really enjoyed our recent stay here while visiting our son and daughter in law in the area. The room was comfortable and attractive, breakfast was wonderful, and Chris and Loman could not have been more accommodating and welcoming as hosts. We highly recommend the Tuck-U Inn!

Don't trust their Web site! Booked two rooms online and was then contacted to say they were already booked in person and so we would have to change our plans. Availability completely misrepresented!

My boyfriend and I stayed here on a Sunday evening in January. I don't even know where to start raving about this place! We were greeted by the very friendly, kind owner, Chris. She gave us a brief tour of the home and some history about the place. Very interesting. The house itself is positively beautiful, inside and out. It is charmingly decorated with neat antiques and lots of interesting things to look at. The owners keep zebra finches in the main sitting room, and Chris was kind enough to allow me to play her baby grand piano. It was a fantastic experience. We stayed in the First Lady's Room. The bed was extraordinarily comfortable and the room warm and cozy. I ended up taking not one, but two fantastic bubble baths in the jacuzzi tub, which by the way, was in-suite! My boyfriend and I both slept like a dream. We joked with the owner the next morning that we had planned on going out for the evening, but never made it, as we were both so comfortable in the room. The next morning we were served a breakfast of almond apricot puff pastry, cheesy egg quiche, potatoes and sausage, and fruit. Everything was delicious, right down to the coffee. Chris was kind enough to serenade us with piano music as we ate. Both her and her husband sat and chatted with us for quite some time. I want to say we were treated like royalty, but it was more like we were treated like cherished friends who had come for a stay. I would HIGHLY recommend this bed and breakfast to anyone looking to get away for the weekend. Even if you have no other plans than to hang around the place all day, the Tuck U Inn absolutely cannot be compared to.

Yes, you hear creaks and cracking in the 100 year old Historic wood floors, it is after all a restored hand-crafted mansion. I stayed in the Amelia room upstairs and was pleased to walk into a nicely air conditioned room that was decorated to a 't' right down to the crystal pendulums on the fan string. The beds were soft, the hosts were kind and let you have free reign of the house (including coffee, treats, soda and water unlimited from the fridge) and you are right in the middle of downtown Atchison, KS. Despite the age of the home, the bathroom was redone with new shiny tile and a 2 person clawfoot bathtub that made you melt with joy just looking at it. There were noises through the night of the wind moving through the home but once I got to sleep, I was out. The next morning I was awoken by the soft sound of classical piano playing from downstairs and enjoyed a lovingly prepared breakfast. We had cream cheese stuffed blueberry croissants, cheesy quiche and fresh fruit with sugar rolled crispy bacon. The coffee was strong, the breakfast sat well on the drive home and the price was fair.

Really l want to give this place a 2, but if they would fix their pipes, a 4. I convinced my boyfriend to take me here for my birthday, and he will probably never stay in a bed and breakfast again because of it. The house is over 100 years old, so I expected some creaks (and maybe even ghosts). I did not anticipate being kept awake all night by continuous clashing sounds. It literally sounded like someone was banging a wrench against a pipe immediately outside our room. When we told the innkeeper the following morning, Chris said she knew about it. "They'll have to tear out part of the wall in the Eisenhower room to fix that..."...Um, do it. If the owners slept in that room one night, they would be humiliated to ever have a guest sleep in there again. According to Chris, it was just the Eisenhower room that had that problem. I wish she would have told us when we booked to bring ear plugs. We were the only guests in the inn and considered sneaking into another room. The good things about the inn: * Accommodating to food allergies - not only prepared a gluten free meal for Jeremiah, but specifically asked him what he would like. * Video library - it is Atchison, KS; there's not a lot going on * Coffee outside your room by 7:00 a.m. * Overall, the hosts and room were nice. If you want to stay here, make sure you don't get the Eisenhower Room.

We stayed there last night and it's a nice place. We stayed in the First Lady's room, and with that room you don't need to go out into the hall to access the bathroom. The bed was comfortable and the room was large. The first floor rooms are very pretty and the breakfast was tasty. The owners are pleasant. However, I expected soap and shampoo in the room (there was only liquid soap and body wash). We've stayed at many B&Bs and there were always (nice) soaps - and even the cheapest motels provide shampoo. Also, the internet connection was *torturously* slow.
