Mrs Curl is a great local ice cream shop! Obviously you've got soft serve ice cream, shakes, and sundaes. Cones are available in many size including an extra small kiddie code. Each cone has one Teddy Graham cracker poked in the top as Mrs Curl's signature. One unique thing here is the "flavor swirls". They've got the ability to inject flavor into the ice cream as it's served, so you get the classic twist cone with flavor stripes swirled around the cone. There are 20 or more flavors. Food is basic as you would expect from an ice cream stand. The stand out I recommend is two things - hot dogs and curl fries. The hot dogs are premium all beef hot dogs comparable to Nathan's and each one is grilled to order. The curl fries are fresh cut and the size of your order is "one large potato"! These are cut and cooked to order. Plenty of outdoor seating and there's a park and library across the street. Mrs Curl is accessible by bike, which is a fun family ride for those whole live within a few miles.

Awesome... It has fresh taste to its ice creams and shakes. Loved it...n super cheap. Weekly visit is a must once you go there!

100% old school and 100% legit. This is the place you want to go and get soft serve ice cream and every other kind of treat you can imagine from an old-fashion ice cream stand. Plenty of picnic tables to sit on or you can take your ice cream across the street and sit in the shade at the park. Definitely don't miss this place if you are in Greenwood between March 1 - October 31.

Winters are depressing because Mrs. Curl is closed..

historical landmark in downtown Greenwood. very good prices and worth the wait. opens in march and closes at the end of October. they have monthly specials that they either make into shakes, sundaes or cones with a swirl flavor in them.

This is a gem in Old Towne Greenwood! The prices are very reasonable and I have never had anything that I haven't enjoyed. The tenderloin sandwich is great and so are the fried pickles. But of course the place is known for their ice cream. All soft serve but that doesn't matter. They have something for everyone. They now even accept credit/debit cards (there is a 3% fee). The seating is a bit limited but its nice to be along the water with the fountain.

Great food and great prices! Fried pickles and their tenderloin are amazing!

Local. Community-minded. Fun. I love little local ice cream shops, and Mrs. Curls rocks it. The lines are really long on warm summer nights and weekends, but that doesn't stop many from getting their ice cream on. Plus, there is plenty of seating and a little creek to watch trickle by. Just a super cute, old school ice cream shop that makes you feel like a kid again. Perfect.

I have never minded to wait at restaurants. For me, it is part of the experience. I actually enjoy when I see a large crowd or line. It usually means that the place has it going on. (This excludes the constant large crowds at the "American casual" chains that are my enemy and I hate them. A hate that goes deep, deep into the core of my spirit and oozes spite. The names O'Charleys, Applebees, Texas Roadhouse, TGIF's. These are curses to me and ring with pain in my ears when uttered.) Anyway, now that I am done with THAT, Mrs. Curl's is usually hopping. The line moves quickly, however and it is fun just to soak up the atmosphere. They have a large menu of soft serve treats and some American drive-in style food. I can't honestly sit here and tell you that their soft serve is better than say, DQ. I feel that it is, but it might be a mental thing. Great menu, usually pretty damn good service and an adorable location make everything here taste wonderful.

Ms. Curls has the, hands down, best ice cream in town. It is funny, I went there one day when all the kids were in school and I saw a bunch of adults getting their Ms. Curls fix. I was so funny to see grown folks eating ice cream like a bunch of kids. Hey, I'd recommend Ms. Curls to anyone and everyone! It's grrrrr88888.

Great place to have some ice cream with the family on a summer night. Ice cream is nothing to write home about, but it is inexpensive and there is something to be said about the retro, hometown vibe. Cash only!

This local gem doesn't need a review--from the size of its crowds, I'd say it's doing well all on its own. If you're from Greenwood, you've probably eaten there and you know how great it is. Most recently, I had a chocolate malt. Yum!

similar to DQ but 3 times better and talk about value.big portions and outdoors seating by a creek with the decor setting like 1950's

Amazing hometown ice cream place. They are pet friendly and even have an ice cream dish for dogs! This place is a summer tradition in greenwood

Mrs. Curl's is a really fun place! Old fashioned soft serve ice cream spot. Great choices, flavors, and value. Nice seating area outside next to a stream. I have also been there when they have done some open karaoke although that was a few years back and I haven't seen it recently.

We love Mrs Curl! All we ever get are the treats and they are consistent and offer small sizes for those of us who just want a little.

You could spend an entire afternoon in this block of Greenwood, between Mrs. Curl, the library, and the park! I came here today...in the rain...for the first time. Don't worry though...they have covered seating! The atmosphere is old-time Americana perfection. It's all red-white-and-blue, dripping with kitsch, and there was even a 40-something couple in Harley shirts sucking face in a gazebo by the creek. Did I mention they have KARAOKE from 7-9 on Saturday nights? And a LIVE webcam with a sign that states, "Call your friends and make them jealous that you're here." That's some first-class marketing wizardry. I had a chili-cheese dog and a small cookie dough Razzle (like a DQ Blizzard). My total was about $6.50. LOVED my ice cream, there was plenty of dough in there and it wasn't tainted with any renegade PB cups or mint or anything. A+ for keeping your toppings segregated. I had to eat my dog with a fork and knife and it was awesome. The chili has beans, beef, and no visible onions. The cheese is sauce. The dog was "toasty" from the grill...this wasn't a wiener that spent time in a microwave or a vat of hot water. A+ for knowing how to cook a hot dog! The sign said "all-beef" and specially ordered from...New York? Michigan? Not Indiana. Fancy out-of-state hot dogs here, folks. To me, the true mark of a legit curb-side summertime ice cream shop is having CONEY sauce *and* CHILI sauce for the hot dogs. They have both here. They DO take credit cards now, but there's a 3% charge to offset their processing fee. Either you eat the cost or they do, and I personally would rather not pay more, since I pay cash for nearly everything...especially when "everything" happens to be a $2.75 cup of ice cream. Thumbs-up to them for this decision! The entire menu is posted online, and there are rotating flavors of soft serve available (kinda like the Pineapple Whip at the State Fair). I love this place. I will be back, and not just if I'm in the neighborhood.

Great local owned ice cream joint. They have good ice cream, shakes, sundaes, you name it. Traditional and yummy! We always say we are gonna try there food but never do. Kids and adults love this place. Feed the fish and turtle for 25 cents.

  • Jacki M.

I come here every week and this place is just amazing. The shop has a very much 50s feel, and while the prices don't reflect the 50s.. The prices for food and ice cream are very much in the 90s. Very, very cheap for good ice cream. The ice cream is great, now I have had better in Michigan and Indianapolis but those prices were 3 times the price here. The setting is perfect, it is nested back in a small wooded area with a creek where you can feed the ducks and fish (ask them for fish food, 25 cents) and gazebos. Very relaxing setting. This is truly the perfect place to grab some tater tots or a handmade vanilla shake and just enjoys nature.

  • Tyler C.

Best ice cream I have had on the southside, well worth the wait! Small town feel atmosphere with lots of seating. Large menu with a lot of good items but if you just like vanilla or chocolate ice cream I would highly recommend Mrs. Curls.

  • Chelsea M.

The atmosphere is always so warming! Love how it has a sense of "home" feeling in the heart of greenwood. No matter how long the lines are, the crew is always helpful and patient! Our puppy Lola even loves that they give her a pup cup.

    (5)
  • Adam R.

Is the ice cream good? Absolutely. Is the food good? It's decent. Is the price fair? More or less. Is the WAIT worth it? ABSOLUTELY NOT. What in the Freak Indiana people?? Over an hour wait for average ice cream?! In the hot summer?? No. Thank. You. Slow, slow, slow, slow... Go to Ritter's. They may not have as many offerings as Mrs Curl, but you'll get it, eat it, and be back home watching Lost re-runs before the line at Mrs Curl has even moved.

  • Liz S.

Seriously though, I love Mrs. Curls. It's just that part of old-town Greenwood, that I hope NEVER goes away. I love that I can get freshly fried corn dogs & ice cream for $1 each! I mean come on! And they always have doggie dishes for my puppy to enjoy ice cream with me! There's always a line, so get there early, unless you have a ton of time to wait. But they have 2 lines, so it moves quickly. The service is always really friendly. They accept cash & card (but it's a 3% fee on cards). The corn dogs are tasty (still unsure if they're homemade or just freshly fried from the freezer...) but worth the $1, their soft serve is around $1, they have fresh hot dogs, razzles (like DQ blizzards), lots of toppings and swirl flavors... Oh and their pork tenderloin is great too! I just really love the feel of a little ice cream parlor. They don't need to be known for much more. Just that. And it's so family friendly and just across from the park. Beautiful Beautiful Beautiful.

This place is a must on the Southside! Try a Razzle and pick your flavors. They now accept credit cards! Great place for families and friends! There will always be a line, just get used to it. It's that good! Gives you some time to figure out what you're going to order since they have a plethora of flavors and toppings. They have food there too. I've never had it, but I'm sure it's just as good as their ice cream concoctions. There is parking up against the building and behind it, but if you're going at night, it will be full. There are a few spaces across the street that are usually available. If you're staying to eat your ice cream instead of driving off with it, there's an adorable seating area by the building where you can sit and talk with friends or walk over to the side where there's a cute bridge over a tiny creek. They also have a live web cam on their website, so enjoy in person or online!

Great flavor, definitely cold ice cream (no fast melting on the come), friendly service, and great prices! This is our family's favorite ice cream place anywhere!

I've been getting ice cream here since I was a little kid. Some of my earliest memories involve this place! I love the variety. The park being across the street is pretty perfect. Ice cream cone, and swings.

  • Katie V.

Great ice cream and food! Even better prices! Better than any other place iv been! It's worth the wait! I'm not sure what these other people are saying but it's fantastic. My kids love it here.

  • Melanie R.

I'm not totally sure what all the hype is about. We went here twice when we lived in the area, and we stood in line for a LONG time. The food is not great... the ice cream is good, but we honestly preferred going to Ritter's where it was much better and usually a shorter wait!

    (3)
  • Brandon S.

Really? There is no competition among ice cream vendors/business with Mrs. Curls. No one can beat their price. No one can beat their portions. No one can beat their speed. No one can beat their service. Family friendly atmosphere wrapped in a low cost ice cream with GIANT portions... the best of the best. Just make sure you have CASH... they don't take credit cards - helps keep the cost LOW.

I've been coming to Mrs. Curls for a longggg time. I think almost everyone who grew up in Greenwood would say they came here all the time during the summer. It's so close to the park and the neighborhood, this place hops on warm nights!! When you think of a cute ice cream stand with tons of flavors, cheap prices, and high schools girls making a buck at a summer gig, this is the place. They have regular American fare but everyone comes here for the ice cream. I live in the Square but I will still drive here for the fact that it is cheap, deliciously amazing soft serve ice cream. I bring my hubby and my dog and meet my parents with their dog and we chill out across the street at the park on a bench taking in the sights and sounds of Main Street. Well..adios to this review. I'm headed out for ice cream!

Just moved to the Indy area and heard about this place. Have been twice and it was just okay both times. The first time, I ordered a cheese burger and curl fries while husband ordered a hotdog with chili and kraut. Both were just serviceable. I wouldn't go back for those. The curl fries had an interesting flavor. They were soggy which is kind of a turn off but oddly good. Smoky flavor. I would get them again. The next time we went husband go a Mexican sundae (fried icecream) and I got a chocolate covered banana. The banana...good. Fried icecream..not fried...just cereal rolled around it which is okay but not fried icecream. Major bummer. The wait is also longish and you are surrounded by teens and families with little kids. I don't mind the families but I try to stay away from teens as much as possible. :) We are determined to keep going back until we figure out why there are always long lines! We are up to the challenge.

It's soft serve in the most basic of flavors, but it's fast, it's good and they have a terrific little creekside seating area. Worth stopping if you happen to be in the area.

    (3)
  • Dan C.

Better than expected dog - not just a boiled Oscar Mayer, but a char-grilled decent quality sausage. Though the root beer isn't served in a frosty mug, they offer free refills. If in the area, worth a visit. This is the kind of place you'll miss when it's gone - help keep these places around.

Absolutly the best icecream for the price in the world! Our family can eat icecream and an appetizer, all for less than $20. Usually MUCH less. Their portions are huge. Atmosphere is very cool (old ice cream shop feel) Can't want to go back next year!

  • Dana D.

I love Mrs. Curl. It is a Greenwood Staple. I have been coming here since I was a wee child. I now bring my kids here. They love playing in the park and ending the day with an ice cream from Mrs. Curl. I hate to see it close toward winter as winter sucks but the light of the day is when it opens in Spring for another great ice cream season.

    (5)
  • Matt F.

Mr. Curl better watch out...because ALLLL the guys in town just LOOOVE Mrs. Curl. Remember the old Watson's slogan "it's hot, and you need a pool?" Well, it's hot, but save yourself $20K and get some ice cream instead. Greenwood has all of the usual chain ice cream joints (Baskin Robbins, Cold Stone, Dairy Queen, Ritters, etc.), but skip those places and head to Mrs. Curl. It's the kind of place your parents might have gone on a date after leaving the sock hop. It's cash only so hit up the ATM in advance. Place your order at the window and grab a seat outside by the small stream. Wave hi to the camera and the world will see you on mrscurl.com . The line can get long, but remember, this isn't the BMV so there's no reason to get upset. You're waiting for ice cream, not an eye test!

  • Rachel M.

AMAZING ICE CREAM! Such a fantastic variety of cones, shakes, sundaes. Went on a date there after playing tennis at the park right around the corner and we sat along the creek and even saw a large turtle swimming in the water! Nice to have an original ice cream shop in greenwood!

  • Matt H.

This is a great place for you to relax and just enjoy some good ice cream with the family! Sure the ice cream may just be soft serve but where else can you eat ice cream at a neat little place like this? My family and I love to come here, it just has that small town feeling to it! The food isn't that bad, just regular kind of stuff, burgers, hot dogs, stuff like that. The staff are all nice too!

    (4)
  • Becca B.

The butterscotch flavor swirl is sooo good. But then I get to the bottom of the cone and EVERY TIME there is a nasty little bit of banana ice cream at the bottom. I don't know why. BUT IT'S EVERY SINGLE TIME. :(

  • Andrew S.

There are a lot of ice cream places to compete with. Coldstone, Ritters, Dairy Queen, etc. But Mrs. Curl still stands above them all. A nice place to go in the summer to get ice cream. Not very expensive. It's located next to a little creek and a park. A great place to bring the family. It does get really busy. And they don't accept anything but cash.

  • Adam C.

A Greenwood staple. If you haven't been here you are truly missing out. awesome little ice cream shop with great out door seating right on the creek.

  • Deb R.

I have lived in the Greenwood area since - 99'. I have always lived fairly close to Mrs Curl. It is always very busy during the warm months. (It shuts down during the winter months) Their ice cream is reasonably priced and the quality is decent enough as well. I normally don't eat their food because it is not anything spectacular. The food at the nearby Greenwood Little League ball park is comparable to Mrs Curls food, and is a little cheaper too. The parking is a little tricky and challenging, but the trip is worth it if you can find a spot nearby. They used to have a low key karaoke night on any given Saturday night years ago, but I am not sure if they do that anymore. It was charming and really cute to see kids, (and some adults) participate. Mrs. Curl has been a historical and familiar fixture in Greenwood for years, and hopefully it will be for years to come.

Stoped by 04/2010 on a saturday night only to find a line. It was around 8:45pm and they had probably 25-30 people in line, but the line moved along very quickly. It is a great old time ice cream place with soft serv choices and a full meal menu. Great seating and a fun place to get some dinner or a after dinner desert.

    (5)
  • Julian P.

The best thing about this is the price. Very inexpensive. The ice cream isn't the best by any means. It's just basic soft serve. The have a very big menu, which is a plus. The only downsides are the long lines, and the ridiculous people in those long lines. Also I am not a huge fan of buying ice cream from girls who seem to have been born in the past decade. All and all, unless you are super picky about ice cream, you will like this place.

  • R. J. D.

WOW.......We were in Greenwood for a wedding reception at the local county club......My son-in-law saw this place with lines of people, said we had to try it.......Went Sunday afternoon and the lines were out of sight. There was six of us with kids and had Coney Dog, Chilli Dogs, Hamburgers and etc. kids got ice cream afterwords....Food good, not great, but atmosphere and seeing FAMILIES all together was Great. Fun place, we are from SOCAL and had a great time in Indiana/Kentucky area....Except for the weather.......changes every 5 minutes.... Great place for the kids....
