Hometown visit staple. End of review. Just kidding. This is one of my most favorite places for nostalgia's sake. On Saturday mornings, you will regularly find groups of letter-jacketed Chargers reliving the previous night's football or basketball game. Notre Dame football Saturday? The friendly waitresses will be in their blue and gold. Families in for their weekly visit? Old men telling lies over coffee? Check and check. City politicians telling lies over coffee? Yup. At any given time, you'll find the owner (Neil) running the register, bussing tables, cooking, and/or chatting with customers old and new. (He also sings an awful lot like Elvis, but that's another skill for another time.) The food is diner-style, comfort awesomeness. They serve lunch, but I have literally only ever eaten their breakfast food. I like the breakfast burrito (potatoes, sausage, eggs in a tortilla covered in sausage gravy and cheese), but my favorite is country fried steak, eggs, potatoes, and toast. I usually eat all around the edge of the steak (in true fat kid, fried food fashion), and don't make it through the rest of the meat. There's just a lot of food, and I have to save room for the fried potatoes. I like to go on Saturday mornings with my dad and do the crossword puzzle in the newspaper while we wait (never very long) for our food. This place feels like home.

I was happy to find a place that has delicious food, amazing staff, and great prices. My coffee was never empty before the waitress filled it, amazingly friendly. The food was terrific. I will be back!

My favorite diner in Elkhart! Excellent staff and great daily specials! The coffee is a little weak, but plenty of refills. They now take credit cards and have WiFi. I go there several times a week
