Had dinner & drinks here last week with hubby and friends and it was fabulous! The place is intimate & beautiful and the service was great. Started w/ the scallops, hubby and I agreed probably the best we've ever had - sooo next time no sharing. They were perfectly seared and dressed w/ some yummy sauce and mushrooms on the side - ate it all! Had the lamb chops as my main dish - well-seasoned, tender, and scrumptious!! Then I finished w/ some apple cake thingy for dessert - meehh. I almost left a star off for it being so blah compared to everything else but the bread w/the housemade butter & 2 different salts and the 3 French 75 cocktails made up for it :)

Everything about Artisan is first class from the moment you walk through the front doors. The service is excellent, the rich and inviting aroma that fills the air, excellent selection of wine and drinks and a menu that provides something special for any pallet. Overall great experience and we'll be back, again and again.

This is a great addition for the city of Elkhart! We had a salad that was awesome with a scallops appetizer. Our main courses of a steak and pork chop were absolutely incredible. I cannot wait to go back sometime soon. The filet is ridiculously good! Don't miss out on this place. So nice to have places that would fit in big cities in Elkhart and South Bend area!

Tried this place last night. Beautiful decor-very upscale, and reasonably priced domestic beer, but that was the only thing going for it! The front and rear entrance is very odd-if you use the back, you have to walk all the way thru the dining area to the front and there isn't much room between tables etc. We tried the BLT appetizer, was very small, mostly fat, lacking flavor. For entrees, we had the duck and gnocchi. You don't get much food for the price...very underwhelming. The menu selection is slim, wine by the glass is salty, portion size small, and the lights are too bright.

Had dinner here on Wednesday, surprisingly busy for a Wednesday night in Elkhart. Very elegant design, with an outstanding wine selection. The food was next level and the service was attentive and friendly. Small kitchen so everything arrives hot and beautifully plated. No other place like this near here unless you consider Chicago nearby. I had the buffalo short rib, amazing! My friend had the duck (cooked to perfection). Small menu, I assume to ensure quality, but I still had trouble making a final choice. Plan ahead because it is a small resturant and I am guessing it will be the new hot ticket for some time to come.

It's not easy to find fine dining in this area but Artisan fits the bill and does it well. We have eaten at least six Michelin star restaurants in Chicago and Artisan holds its own with the best of them. We've been a fan of Cafe Navarre since it opened so we expected good things here (same owner) and were not disappointed. The service was attentive without being overbearing. The meal was paced nicely. Best of all, the food was fantastic. The charcuterie appetizer was amazing and plenty for two people. My steelhead was sublime and my wife's ono (wahoo) was excellent. Our visit was to celebrate our 42nd anniversary so we each got a complimentary dessert which was a really nice touch. If you are a foodie, it's definitely worth the trip to beautiful downtown Elkhart. We will be returning very soon.

Beacon of hope and promise for the New Elkhart Food Scene. Well if there wasn't one before there sure is now. At no point during my visit did I have any notion that this was the opening week! The staff was as perfectly seasoned as the food. I was alone and traveling for work so I ponied up to the bar. Perfect place for a solo diner. The bar staff was welcoming and offered just the right amount of insight into the food. Choosing one dish from the menu proved far too difficult so I absolutely had to go for the chefs tasting menu. 6 course because the 9 might have just been too gluttonous. My next visit will absolutely require the 9 course. I posted photos. The scallops and the bison were the clear winners but the food deserves 7 out of 5 stars from the yelp rankings. Elkhart, embrace this place. Love it and there will be more. Culinary scenes start in cities one visionary at a time. Artisan is one heck of a foundation to build from.

Beautiful renovation on this downtown Elkhart location. Very welcoming staff who took care of us from our first step in the door. They offer plenty of top notch liquors and TONS of fine wines by the bottles. Not a huge selections of by the glass wines but that's ok. We sampled the charcuterie board. It was very good. I tried the French 75 and it was a delightful cocktail with lemon, gin, and topped off with sparkling wine. It was so nice and refreshing. It was my mom's birthday and they offered a choice of dessert on the manager. She chose the chocolate soufflé which was heaven. Light, airy, and accompanied by delicious vanilla ice cream. Heaven on a plate. This is a great new concept for Elkhart and I would love to come back to do a full course menu (with wine pairing... Of course). I will definitely be back!

Yelp does it again! Food and service superb. We had fresh salad with interesting greens and tasty vinegret. Tuna appetizer beautifly presented and delicious. My wife had white bass perfectly prepared and I had waghu, delicious tender beef medium rare...perfect. Very nice wine selection. Finished with crem brûlée. A delightful, albeit expensive, evening...about $150 plus tip. We will stop by next week when we return from our trip. We have stopped by Elkhart nearly every year or so over the past 30 years. This was a delightful surprise.

Great food. Excellent service. They even called the next day to make sure everything was ok. My husband said he had the best pork chop ever!

First visit last night... Outstanding food and service. What an addition to Elkhart! Congratulations to Kurt and Chef Matt. We had the Chef's tasting ... Wow! World class dining right here on Main Street.

Overall, really a great experience. I really enjoyed the scallop appetizer, and the dry-aged sirloin when phenomenal. My wife, however, ordered the gnocchi. The server described is as "light" (that should have been a clue that it wasn't a typical preparation). What they served wasn't really gnocchi at all, rather 6 small potato pancakes. I tried them, they were very ho-hum. The accompaniments to that dish, however, made up for the lackluster atypical gnocchi. There are a few areas for improvement. The most noticeable deficit was in the bar service. All of our drink orders took substantial time to arrive. At one point, I told our server that if my cocktail had not yet been made, I would just proceed to the wine. She told me that she believed it had already been done. From that point, it still took between 5-10 minutes to arrive at the table. Unfortunately, when it did arrive, is was not a well-made craft cocktail. What should have been a dash of bitters ended up tasting more like they added a spoonful. Again, overall, this was a great experience. It's still a new restaurant, and I think they need to work out some bugs. A bit of attention to the bar, and I believe they'll have it down.

Really lovely spot to celebrate our anniversary. A big-city quality fine dining meal in northern Indiana - an absolute delight and better than our other Michiana experiences. Top-notch ingredients, well-prepared. Thank you, Artisan!

Travelling from London UK to this quaint small town I did not expect to find a restaurant quite like this. Having frequently dined in Michelin establishments all around major cities around the world; it's safe to say that Artisan could give them some competition. The dishes are refined and well thought out, a lot of care and passion has gone in to each and every plate, this is evident if you're lucky enough to be sat at the bar and watch these artists work! The place itself is beautiful, grandeur that is not ostentatious or pretentions, come in jeans or a cocktail wear and you won't feel out of place either way! Back to the food; I have been privileged enough to try most dishes on their original menu and to say that their seafood is the freshest I have ever tasted. From lightly caramelized scallops to hand shucked oysters and sushi grade Tuna, the list is endless. All in all this is one place you don't want to miss out on!

We celebrated our wedding anniversary and overall it was a great experience. My husband had California halibut, served with lavender rice and bok choy, and a wonderful cream sauce. I had the filet with fingerling potatoes and asparagus. We enjoyed the charcuterie plate and the Artisan salad. All of the food was fresh, beautifully presented and delicious. The ambiance was good, except it was a little loud as they were accommodating a large party in the middle of the restaurant. Our service was adequate but not equivalent to the food quality. We have heard mixed reviews about Artisan, but we were very pleased with our experience.

Absolutely LOVE this restaurant. Service is top notch, great ambiance and you cannot find better food. Salads are fresh and crisp, steaks were prepared to perfection and the lamb chops are to die for. This is definitely a place to go for fine dining and celebrations.

Simply Amazing!! We've been 3 times now and LOVED the atmosphere, food and service!! If I had to say one thing negative it would be that I wish the bar in back was a bit larger (since you can see the kitchen it's a great place to eat dinner as well)... but besides that we loved everything. Sooo happy to have a place like this in Elkhart!

We dined here with friends this weekend. It is the first true "hot spot" I have experienced in Michiana. The food was amazing everyone LOVED their meals. We all did the tasting menu which was fun and filling and a nice way to try many items on the menu. The menu is more sophisticated then most in the area but I feel like there is something on it for everyone. The restaurant is beautiful, the atmosphere hip, the service excellent, the food fabulous! We will be back soon.
