Buffet is decent but their beer is amateur at best. Server did a great job. If you like craft beer, go somewhere else.

There's nothing wrong with Granite city, it just is what it is, a corporate chain. The beer, food, and service are all good. Great for a group of girls or 2+ couples looking to have dinner and a couple drinks. A group of guys should find a real bar. Not really a place to hang out and drink. Set up exactly as you imagine with a large restaurant and a bar to the south of the restaurant. 4-5 large booths and maybe 20 barstools.

Third time at this location. Great place to meet up with folks for lunch. Its usually pretty busy during the lunch hours. Service is great. I have ordered salads at each visit and they have been great. The Chop Salad is great, love the banana peppers. The Bruschetta Salad is very addictive.

Went here for lunch today and had the Salmon Oscar and it was delicious!! The whole meal was amazing.. Our waiter Ceasar was very personable and very attentive.. I highly recommend this restaurant and if you get dessert ask for some whiskey butter on the side.. it is amazing!!

Been twice at Carmel location and preferred the bar seating for the cushy booths and laid-back vibe (meaning we could hear each other speak despite well-angled tvs). Seems a number of our friends always bring their kids and head for the dining room, but we found the bar a great place for a casual lunch or date night. Enjoyed the beer flight! Nice range of flavors and more samples in one flight for more reasonable price than experienced elsewhere. While the Northern is a crowd favorite for those who prefer craft beers light & golden, my favorite was The Duke: a well-balanced IPA without an overly hoppy aftertaste. Took home 3 growlers of it - don't judge now, who can pass up $6 Friday refills? There's a gluten-free menu as well as a kid's menu. The margherita flatbread pizza was a generous size and drizzled in warm balsamic. The crust was crispy and the tomatoes cut on the thick side to balance the vinegar. I will return for this flatbread and a pint again. The Fish Taco Trio was a perfect blend of healthy and delicious flavors. I even think this blackened tilapia with cilantro lime cabbage meets the standards of the Mediterranean diet. Now it's all I can think about... Had a Classic Cheeseburger and they happily obliged replacing American cheese with crumbled blue. Sadly, the burger was thin and dry. I've had a juicier burger at Red Robin. The coleslaw was fresh and tasty. I will pass on the burgers here until I see them looking spiffier! I had a taste of the Fish & Chips - crispy and pub perfect. Servers have been courteous and prompt. There's a Mug Club and Happy Hour specials weekdays 3-6, every night 9 til closing. Nice, casual chain with good brews.

This was our first visit to this Granite City location. We're not huge beer drinkers, so we tend to come here for the food only. My Cajun Pasta was nicely presented in an interesting, angled bowl. My wife had the Fish Taco Trio. Our server wasn't particularly friendly, but she was adequate. She was probably just stressed-out from the party of 10 loud women sitting near our booth. The restaurant was very clean and we were greeted by no less than three young ladies (simultaneously) as we entered. Overall a nice experience.

2nd time here. First time last fall, all the food was great, but Friday night, I wasn't impressed. Cup of beer soup, tasteless, the dip was a grease ball, my rye bread on my sandwich, was bla. Get better rye bread, I just ate the inside of the Ruben...

Was a little disappointed with my visit here tonight. Went with the New York Strip Steak, baked potato, substituted the green beans withe cole slaw. Ordered the steak medium well, when it arrived to the table, it was rare, the potato was barely warm, butter hardly melted on it, the cole slaw was really good though. Our server returned the steak to the kitchen, came back as it should have been cooked. Turned out to very delicious, but for the cost, should have been done right the first time. Have been here many times, and have to say, this visit was at the bottom.

For me, Granite City was "okay". It's a nothing-special kind of place, but certainly not bad either. I struggled a little with their menu as its very, very meat heavy and I was looking for something lighter. I'm guessing many things could be made vegetarian if you asked, but there aren't a ton of options on the standard menu. I went with a margarita flatbread which was absolutely huge! Honestly, I didn't enjoy it much - the tomatoes were mushy, cut very thickly and the balsamic "drizzle" was overpowering, plus the crust was soggy. Our service was great, though - we were checked on regularly and everything arrived quickly. GC isn't a place I'd rush back to, but I wouldn't argue if someone else wanted to go.

The service was FANTASTIC. The food and beer was also good, however, I feel the food is a little overpriced. I had the chef's salmon recommendation. I DID enjoy it. I just don't think it was worth as much as I paid for it. Overall though, I would definitely recommend this place!

First time at this GC location but second time dining with this chain restaurant. We were a party of three for lunch-seated quickly in a bar booth. If you like burgers I would go with the lunch size portion ( menu on the back of the menu card). Flatbreads are too large for one person-great to share. I had the dinner size portion of the Chopped Salad. Just the right amount of dressing. Served in there interestingly shaped salad bow. Wait staff was great-proactively provided our soda refills with out prompting. Was not there for the beers however, I sampled the Batch 1000 double IPA-it had too much of a grassy finish for my taste. Restaurant is clean bright and very large-not loud at all.

The blueberry lemonade with fresh mint is to die for!! I'm not a beer drinker so I opted for this. Really nice kids meals selection if you are bringing the little ones. Menu is quite varied and good! Had a hell of a time choosing. We had the soft pretzels sticks with beer cheese dip which was a fantastic app. I had the Asian shrimp taco trio which is nice n spicy - really enjoyed it, had LOTS of fresh cilantro! Also, I love the inside of this place - modern, lots of limestone lining the walls, clean, etc. The server also mentioned there is a magician who is pretty good on Sunday nights. Bonus - Sundays are buy one adult meal and kids eat free. Whoop whoop!!

I met a friend for lunch here recently. This is the first time I've been here in over a year, so I was excited to try something semi-new to me again. Service was fantastic. Drinks refilled promptly and we were checked on enough to feel welcome, but not so much that we were annoyed. Lunch options were perfect portions and my food, a half sandwich, soup and fries were delicious. My only complaint is that my sandwich had bacon on it, and ordering a half sandwich, I only got one tiny strip of bacon. I also felt the bread was a little greasy, but the taste was perfect. I noticed there were playing cards stuck all over the ceiling and asked our server about it. She told me they have a magician that comes in and performs for the kids on a regular basis (I want to say Sunday or Monday nights but double check to make sure I'm telling the truth) and that was one of the tricks they do. So.. it sounds like this might be a kid-friendly place at least one night a week.

This place is just OK. I have been here a while ago and I feel that they changed the menu up to make it more simplistic. Previously, they had a great Chicken Marsala and other delicious options. Now, it feels more like plain bar food. I came here and sat at the bar and ordered a beer, a flatbread and chicken tenders this time around. The beer was good. The flatbread was outstanding (Maple Bacon flatbread, must try!) The chicken tenders were laughable. They were the same as any kids meal at applebees would be. Gross. The fries, were also served cold. yuck. Disappointing I'd come back for the Flatbread, but honestly...I don't know how soon I'll return here with so many other options around.

This my third visit for dinner to Granite City Brewery in Carmel. This time the food has been not up to the usual standard. Ordered the Bruschetta Salad with steak. Too much dressing on the salad and the bread with cheese that surrounds the plate had been sitting for a while and it was cold and greasy. This must have been the night that the kitchen staff was not up to the standard. I will give it one more try, then it's on to greener pastures.

Came here to try the Sunday brunch because I'm a sucker for brunch buffets. Indianapolis seems to be sorely lacking in the quantity and quality of brunch buffets. Granite City's version is a pretty good rendition. It checks off most of the boxes of a decent brunch buffet: prime rib carving station, omelette station, eggs, bacon, sausage, salads, rolls, soup, potatoes, French toast, pancakes. A nice addition is the eggs benedict station (Canadian bacon, turkey bacon or spinach). However, the buffet is a little pricey ($15). This could be a simple supply-and-demand issue. I couldn't really evaluate the service as it was a buffet. Drink refills came out quick though.

This was such a fun place for a large group happy hour. The flatbreads were good and the drink specials were varied enough that everyone in the group felt like they were enjoying something they liked while getting a "good deal." I'd be interested in trying this place for lunch and or dinner so I can experience more of the business.

Very accommodating for a party of 8 on a Wednesday night. 1/2 price bottle of wine was why we went to the venue. The party tried several fish dishes as well as several pasta dishes. The pasta dishes were very large portion and allowed for leftovers to take home. The fish dishes were flavorful whether it was the fish tacos or the salmon cooked two different ways. We appreciates that for a party of 8 there was not an automatic gratuity added to the bill. It is just one of those restaurants that I don't think about unless I pass it. Too bad cause the food quality is decent.

Great bar area and the menu descriptions will leave you drooling. This place was far more than what I expected for a bulky establishment near the on ramp for 465... it's totally wonderful! I filled out a free appetizer card during the Black Magic Bash and once I got the email with the coupon, my husband and I were dying to try it. They are their own brewery and you can buy a growler for the price of a regular drink in broad ripple (about $9). Lovely bar area with nice big booths and friendly service. It was a Wednesday night but he Pacers were playing so they had all the TVs on the game and the place was packed. But we had no wait and wanted to sit in the bar. We ordered the boneless wings to start and they were able to split half Nuclear and the other BBQ (for me, I can't handle the spice!). The husband loved the nuclear, I loved the bbq. perfect starter. We barely finished and our food arrive. Shrimp tacos for him, the Overlake for me. Let me tell you about this Overlake.... which has a Granite City 'G' next to it as it is one of the chef's favorites. The sandwich starts with some multi-grain bread, a garlic aioli, bacon, turkey, and montery jack. I asked for no tomatoes but that comes on it too. Delicious! And hug portions so I will be enjoying again today for lunch. The side of fires were nothing spectacular and they don't have honey mustard but everything else was spot on. I tried a bite of the shrimp tacos, very yummy but also spicy! My husband's taste buds were so fried off from the wings he couldn't taste the spice on the tacos! Overall: bomb food, impressive prices, and fast service. Deserves all 5 stars. And the happy hour looks like such a deal, we will be back!

Crispy Shrimp Tacos and the Salmon Caesar Salad are a couple of my favorites. The Chicken Tortilla Soup is a hit or miss sometimes. This location is just as busy as its downtown counterpart. I've never seen it slow.

Usually get carry out rather than dining in. The food is good, but not out of this world. The salads are huge! Big enough for a meal + leftovers or sharing!

We went on a Sunday afternoon, not realizing they served a brunch buffet, so it was quite packed. But we found some spots at the bar and ordered off the menu instead. I had the blackened fish tacos: not too spicy (but I like spicy!) and decent, until I realized that there was a whole bunch of grill-grease sacked on the side of the taco holder - pretty unappetizing. I ate 2 and that was it. My husband had a BLT sandwich that was very bland with no dressing on it. Service was great, the only reason why I gave it 2 stars.

For dinner, the parking lot was pack. The wait for a table was not that long. The table was huge. The restaurant was attractive. As for the food, I had a coupon from coupons4indy.com . With purchase of an entree, my party got the free spinach dip and artichoke appetizer with garlic baguettes. It was extremely cheesy and delicious. As for my entrée, I had the Simply Grilled Salmon* Atlantic salmon charbroiled, sweet potato fries (sub instead of wild rice pilaf) and fresh asparagus. My friends ordered the Grilled Salmon Oscar entrée. I think the waiter forgot that I wanted the salmon Cajuned. For some reason, we were served our entrees before our appetizer. My friend asked for the appetizer first and then to bring the entrees.

My most recent trip to granite city was a company outing. There was about 14 of us in the party in al and Granite City was able to accommodate us without any issue or reservation during a lunchtime on Wednesday. No adult beverages were to be had since this was lunch on the company dime. However a few of us did enjoy a more extravagant soft drink, the blueberry lemonade. Reports were that it was delicious. So if you want to venture into something fun, without getting tipsy, they recommend giving it a shot. Order taking went off without a hitch by a relative friendly server. His customer interaction was kept to a minimum, but this might be a plus to some people not looking to be bothered. Much different experience from, let's say Union 50, which I visited this weekend. Food arrived quickly with almost no issues. I personally ordered the wing appetizer and the adult macaroni and cheese, which I will get to in a minute. When the food arrived, the only problem for two of the other members in my party was the was the temperature of their food. They both ordered the ribs. So my guess is Granite City hasn't really perfected the art of cooking this properly. Considering this isn't world famous BBQ that seems reasonable. Both of their ribs were sent back because the temps were winter cold. My wings were delicious though. Super hot in both temp and spice. Served with enough delicious blue cheese to properly coat the wings and the veggies that came with. My adult Mac was also delicious and HUGE. Made with a bock infused sauce, it is "adult" mac after all, that was incredibly creamy and coated the noodles in a thick glaze of cheesy goodness. This dish will put you to sleep if you don't order the lunch portion. Overall I scored my experience a 3.5 out of 5. Great food, at least in my case, and an ok experience. Great for a casual dinner or lunch meeting.

The experiences I've had here have been pretty positive. We typically attend the brunch on Sunday it is very tasty. The selection is fantastic and the food is quality. It's a busy joint but they do accept reservations. One thing that I see as a recurring theme that I've experienced is that the wait staff can be preoccupied. We had a waiter who appeared to be new. He didn't know the pricing for the brunch and didn't know that children are free. It was alright after we let him know, but I don't want to have to double check my check and then argue my point.

I was struggling between 4 and 5 stars. We seem to keep gravitating toward this restaurant and are making our way through a large section of the menu! I first tried GC over a year ago, for lunch with a colleague. We both had the chop salad, which was tasty and reasonably priced. I wasn't in the area again until we moved a few months ago. Since then, it's becoming our "go to" place. We have tried everything from the seafood (Salmon Oscar - Hollandaise...enough said, fish and chips, fish tacos) to burgers (taco burger special, betta chedda burger - both beef and bison) and sandwiches (BTA - bacon tomato avocado grilled cheese, ruben). We typically order side salads because they use mixed greens and their dressings are delicious. The sandwich lunch specials are a pretty good deal. For less than $10, I got a half BTA sandwich, a salad, and fries. It was plenty! The Idaho nachos were interesting. We liked them with a little salsa and ranch (doesn't come with it, but you could ask). We also tried the giant cookie - WOW, that was fantastic. A gooey, toffee and chocolate chip cookie with a scoop of ice cream on top. Definitely sized to be shared. We will order it with an additional scoop of ice cream next time...we like our ice cream and had a little trouble sharing it. We joined their club. It's a good deal ($10/year, includes 1 free beer) if you plan on visiting frequently. It gives the cardholder a discount on meals and a reward coupon for certain point levels.

Not good. I had fish tacos and they wee not at all what was listed in the menu. The salsa tasted like tomato paste and the fish was SALTY. However, the girls got burgers and those looked good. The server was unapologetic. Just a bad experience.

We are frequent weekly diners and usually love the food but we continue to have problems with service and the food orders being correct. If the menu describes the item and they are out of something, don't you think you should ask the customer if the substitution is ok with the diner? The manager delivered the item and didn't mention the substitution. In addition, asking for silverware 3 times is ridiculous! Then the mug club cards are never correct! Sorry, but you have lost a weekly group of customers!

We were in Indy for a soccer tournament. This place was close to that hotel so the team decided to get lunch. I'm a fan of local beers so I was happy to give this a spin. It was a Saturday lunch, just after 1. The place was not packed but there were a few other customers eating. They accommodated our large group of 20 we'll as it came to seating us. The service was not that great. They were very friendly but it took a while for them to take our drink order. We were easily there for 15minutes before they did. Then it took a while before they brought us drinks. After she took our order the food came pretty fast. The food was good. I had a salad. I also had the flight of beers. Eight different beers highlighting their specialty. Didn't care for it very much.

I came here with some coworkers and was pretty pleased with everything. The steak I ordered was cooked to perfection and seasoned just the way I like it. It was delicious. My coworkers all seemed happy with their food as well. The location seemed like a good place to watch a game or fight with friends. Service and food was all very good. No complaints from me!

I've been here a few times and it's been pretty good every time. They have a wide selection of food and drink and you get what you pay for. It's normally very busy here on weekends so expect a wait but normally no longer than 45 minutes. The food takes a bit longer to come to the table but it was worth the wait. I will be coming back here definitely and would recommend this place to anyone.

I've been here a few times before and have had a good experience except for last night. It took them about 25 minutes to bring out the food & they got the order wrong. Then, they took another 15 minutes to bring it back out but the food was cold & the order was wrong AGAIN. I finally settled on a carryout dish I figured would be hot when it came out and hard to screw up (flatbread pizza), but again the order was cold when it came out. This place is good for beer only. The next time my co-workers and I are in town I won't suggest this place for dinner again. As another reviewer stated, I also observed the staff walking around the restuaraunt with the same food order several times without having any idea what table it belonged to. This place needs to get their act together.

We got a $3 pitcher of beer here one weeknight because they were trying to finish off the keg. It was good, but in hindsight, I'm sort of grossed out at the thought of them offloading their bottom-of-the-barrel beer dregs to us. However, it tasted good and the beer served its intended buzz-inducing purposes. The good was just meh. Flatbread pizza was fine but nothing special, but I wasn't a fan of the pretzels and cheese---the pretzels were state fair levels of super greasy fried, and the bowl of cheese was watery and almost soup-like.

Really underwhelmed with GC. Drink specials got us in the door, but the food will keep us from returning. My BALT was dreadful. Limp bacon, hardly present and slimy avocado, and watery tomato. Instead of mayo, the sandwich was dripping with cheese. Now that I think about it, the item tasted like a grilled cheese, not a BALT. And the $12 price tag? Silliness. The prime rib sandwich was better, but still a mess. Salty, warmish meat with a side of au jus that was lacking flavor. Service was good, the place is sleek... But the food is average and the prices are bloated.

This is my first visit to Granite City and I have to say I am impressed. I had the Brother Benedict Bock, a German style lager. It had a medium body, brown in color, hints of malt and caramel flavors. I think I could take a growler home next visit. The restaurant is nice and clean. We were seated very quickly considering it was a Friday night. I ordered the Bedda Chedda Bacon Burger. It had a nice tangy BBQ sauce, but I think I'll pass on the sauce next time. It was prepared medium and tasted great. We had our infant with us and they were very accommodating with a sling. It's a nice little bonus. I want to go back during happy hour and take advantage of the $2.50 drafts. I'll be back!

The food and service are consistently good. We eat here about twice a month, and we have yet to have a bad meal. The breadsticks are awesome, and so is the potato nachos with Granite City sauce.

Asian chicken salad, not much chicken, way too much dressing. They definitely were able to cover each item with sauce. The lunch menu didn't have much that seemed appetizing.

  • Julie M.

The food wasn't anything special and was rather bland. The service was okay, but as a whole, the staff was very unorganized. The staff kept asking tables if the food they were carrying belonged to that table, I feel like they should know where the food belongs. They also messed up an order at our table, they quickly fixed the order, but getting a flatbread vs a pasta dish is a pretty big mistake. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back, I would get better food and service from a place like the Cheesecake Factory.

We only go for brunch on the weekends, so this review is for the brunch. Overall, very good. For a family of two adults and two kids, total is about $50. We get the gift cards from CostCo so that brings it down to $40. For a brunch buffet with a good selection of higher end food than the usual breakfast suspects (Original Pancake House, IHOP, etc.) in Indianapolis, that's very good. The prime rib is very tender and juicy. The bacon and sausage are excellent. There's also custom made eggs benedict, waffles, etc.

Better service this time and good food. As others have posted it is either hot or cold here. Our experience has been either really bad service with good food or good service and really bad food. Tonight actually good on both. We were there around 10pm. Chicken Caesar Salad and the Overlake sandwich. And yes less then half a shot glass full of ketchup. Actually over heard another table talking to their server and manager about the reviews on here. The manager stated he never has read the comments on yelp. Such a shame. This can be a great tool to improve service / food. Come on Dave ( I think that was his name ) read some reviews and fix the issues. There are too many places in Indy, and Carmel to eat not to read reviews.

A friend and I went for Sunday brunch (buffet). The quality of food for the price was good! $14.95 and they have Bloody Mary and Mimosa specials for $5.50. On the buffet: eggs, eggs Florentine, (they also have an omelet bar), french toast(syrup and strawberry topping), waffles, biscuits and gravy (my friend and I did not care for the gravy-it had a sweet taste to it), delicious bacon, sausage, cinnamon rolls (need icing!), pastries. The lunch items included: soup (baked potato-it was ok), salad (ceasar and a chopped salad), veggies with ranch, mac n' cheese with bacon, some red sauced pasta, mashed potatoes, and my favorite!! PRIME RIB. Prime rib was very good! I also really enjoyed the horseradish sauce and the gravy for the potatoes. I did, however, hear the worse phrase in the English language: "Give me the most well done prime rib you have." Ugh! Also saw them 'cooking up' some prime rib in a pan for omelets with gravy. Goodness people. Don't eat it just because it is free-you are ruining it! So, overall a wonderful brunch. The restaurant's layout seemed kinda crowded-like they tried to cram in as many tables as possible. It was a little claustrophobic.

I have been to Granite city 3 times in the past 2 weeks, the prices are very affordable and the quality of food is very good. Another important feature of this place is outstanding service. Each time we came to eat we had a different server, and every single time they surprised us with how personal, attentive and high profile service was provided.

Yes, it's a chain but a pretty decent one. The good is pretty good specially their appetizers during happy hour. The flatbreads are huge and good for 1-2 people to share. Their known here for their cookies so you must order that with a side of ice cream. One great thing about this place is that thy close late so night owls like me have a decent restaurant to get my chow down at 11 PM.

The waitress that waited on me incorrectly charged my debit card $465 for a $22 bill. She apologized and told me it would be credited back to my card immediately. The mistake eventually got corrected, but I did not have access to those funds for 24 hours. I called and spoke to a manager who apologized. But then, she called me back and basically told me that my card never got charged for that amount (which was not true). To have a manager call me back and act like the incident never happened made the situation worse. Eventually, I talked to a managing partner and he apologized for the incident. He sent me no credit or gift card for my inconvenience. I understand mistakes happen and was not upset with the waitress. I was disappointed in how the management handled the situation. Fortunately, I did not need the $465 at the moment, but if I did, it would have been a inconvenience.

The food is good with a variety of choices. However, the beer is not so much. With its resemblance of Budweiser the facility states to brew its own beer when in reality it's shipped in from the distillery. Not a bad place to eat, but don't get your hopes up on the beer.

Loved this restaurant! I ordered the stout beer and it was delicious and huge, the waitress brought my kids free carrots and fruit, and their food was great. We're visiting from California and are very impressed by the great service.

Third time going to this location. Food was good minus the sweet potato tots. Sweet potato fries from the previous trip was better. The mango strawberry drink was excellent. Overall I have nothing bad to say about the food or service. My complaint is about the magician. We were told on Sunday's from 5-8 pm there is a magician show for kids. Well sadly after watching the magician at the table behind and next to me he never came to our table. If he felt our kids were too young for the show I would've gladly excepted that explanation. That spoiled our mood and we settled our bill and left.

I was not impressed with the restaurant. We had to ask for our drinks two times and the waitress was very spacey. We asked for separate bills and they were not correct. The waitress apparently did not like her job. The food was great, but subpar on the service!

I want to like Granite City a whole heck of a lot--because it's close to home, because they brew their own beer and because they have a big menu. But every time I go there, I'm just not 'wow-ed'. I mean it's good enough and deserving of 3.5 stars, but I went ahead and gave it 4. What Granite City does well... Flatbreads -- these are delicious Beer -- it's definitely better since they started brewing their own (not my favorite local brew, but it's better than a host of other places) Brunch -- I've only been on Saturday, but I hear that the Sunday brunch is out of this world. Specials -- both drink and food. Something decent is always on special here. What I wish they did better... Service -- it's just never been spot on. There is always something I find that's just not right. Perhaps it's because I've had the same server several times and I just don't like her nonchalant attitude. Portions -- their portions are HUGE. I'd much rather enjoy an appropriately priced and sized dinner than take home more than half of my meal. Mug Club -- you gotta pay to join, which is odd, but there are some perks that come along with it. So we joined anyway. The short of it: I'll go to Granite City for food or drink or both, but it's not the place that comes to mind when suggesting something.

Pretty decent restaurant. Happy to see that they had a Gluten Free menu. The prices were pretty fair, but for $27, I have had better NY Strip steaks. The kale and bacon side dish was good. It was nice to see this option on the menu.

Nice place, good decor, looks like a small chain place. Ordered Asian Chicken Salad, it was fantastic. They give you 2 very tasty Asian dressings, I couldn't stop eating it (even after I was full). Would go again for sure. We had large group, they accommodated us well.

Went here with my mom after work one day so it was on the earlier side for dinner which ended up being a good idea because they were quite busy when we were leaving! We had a really enjoyable time, we split a pitcher of wheat beer (I think they might be $6 on Thursday now?) and I had this awesome chicken sandwich. It had spinach and artichoke on it and was so yummy! My mom really enjoyed her meal too! The service was also good, he was attentive without being around too much which my mom and I, as former servers, enjoy very much! Sadly, I don't remember his name! The fries were excellent and the meal was big enough that I had half the sandwich for lunch the next day! Yum! Hopefully visits in the future will continue to be as enjoyable!

My wife went here with a friend for drinks after work on a Friday night. Mike the bartender was very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was nice, it was busy but they could have conversation so its wasn't to loud. She had a captain and diet, it was pretty good, just right amount of booze to soda, her friend had a mojito that looked good. not sure about the prices cause her friend paid for it. They ordered the pretzel cheese appetizer was really good, the pretzels were large and warm, the outside was crispy and the inside was doughy. The cheese dip was an elevated type cheese dip had tomatoes and jalapenos in it which was really good.

Went to Granite City with my Chicago-area cousins for dinner on Saturday night. My first time to this chain. The place was pretty busy, but our service was fast and efficient. My cousin ordered the walleye and some shrimp scampi, his wife had the seared tuna, and I opted for the Italian scallops. All the food was good. As I was the DD, I was tea-totalling and stuck with diet pepsi, but my cousins seemed to enjoy the brews. I really like that these type of places let you sample the beers before you commit. My cousin's wife sampled 3 different beers -- sharing with the both of us -- and decided upon the IPA. I'm not a beer drinker, but do enjoy sampling from time to time.

It's a place with their own brew - my hubby claimed the beer is great, but I hate beer so that means nothing to me. Best thing at Granite City: pretzel appetizer! Holy crap those are fantastic. My mixed drink (Flying Monkey) was also delicious. We went with a few friends and everyone's food was hot and no complaints. My only issue revolved around ketchup. I'm a ketchup freak and I had to ask several times for more (they give you little cups like its WWII rations). We had a very enjoyable time until about 9PM and then the terrible live band from the bar began and made me want to stab my ears. Great service, excellent food, and good drinks.

Some co-workers and I were in town for business training and this was a good find. We came here for dinner, drinks and lunch on separate occasions (during a 1 week period). Yes, it was really close to our hotel, but it was the food that brought us back! Their beer sampler was popular with everyone. Super cheap way to have a lot of beer. While pizza can be boring and cliche with their toppings- a friend and I ordered 2 different kinds just so we could split and try them both. Best decision of the evening if I do say so myself. They also have gulten free options (+). A must try: Their lager soup. Come to mama.

It's not amazing, but I did enjoy my visit there. I got a portabella mushroom sandwich (one of the very few veggie options, but hey it's something) and it was pretty good. I went with my mom, and we sat in the bar area, which was laid back and clean, but without a lot of personality. The highlight of the meal was the dessert we ordered: Cheesecake Chimichangas. Gooey, fried cheesecake goodness! Aaahhh it was sooo sinfully delicious. I would go back again just for those. The service was good, and they were at the tail end of the Sunday brunch when we were there. It looked amazing, so I may go back to check that out.

Great atmosphere, attentive and friendly staff, creative cuisine on the menu. The pretzel sticks and cheese appetizer is fantastic. Tip: go a little later in the evening if you want to avoid families with loud small children for a more pleasant dining experience.

Food was better than expected. Decent atmosphere. Salads seemed to be the best things on the menu. Only downside was they seemed to close relatively early for a bar and found out quick it was national chain.

Sometimes a $20 steak tastes like a $5 steak. Not tonight. I paired up my sirloin with a pint of fresh bock and was amazed. If you are looking to eat on the cheap, this isn't your stop, but if you are willing to plunk down a little green, you won' be sorry. Staff was great. The beer was tasty. My food was awesome! All that along with Monday Night Football and some surprise Jovi on the radio made for a great time!

Just another local chain, nothing fancy. Service was slow, food was overly salty and for the price you can get much better in the area. For being a brewery, their beer is very disappointing. NO flavor! And who wants to pay $30 for a growler? Not this girl. Much better places to spend your money and stomach space in my opinion.

First time visit to GC for dinner last night and I was more than happy with the service and food. There was no wait for a table, even thought the parking lot was packed at 7:30pm. Our waitress was prompt and friendly, no complaints at all. On the table: Spinach dip: Excellent! This stuff was so good and huge, we shared it between 4 people and left some on the plate. Idaho potatoes: Just as excellent and huge. There was a small mountain of sour cream on top, it could be scaled back. If you're not a fan of sour cream (I'm not) just eat around the outside, there's more than plenty. Again, 4 of us ate on this and came no where near finishing. Tomato basil flatbread pizza: Huge, tasty, shareable and recommended! Walleye: My beau had this and said it was good. I'll take his word as I don't eat animal. Tortellini: I didn't try it, but it looked good and my friend happily ate a large portion and took the rest home. Some kind of wrap: I have no idea what my friend's husband ate, but it was in a wrap and stuffed full of...stuff...with a side of fries. He had no complaints. Maybe we can on a 'hot' night, but I was impressed. The prices are a little steep for my (frugal) taste, but not outrageous for the amount of food you get. Give it a shot and remember to SHARE!

Their stout was pretty poor--oatmeal stout without much body. The bock was OK in a taster glass, but lost a lot of its appeal in a larger glass. On the plus side, they did serve the bock in a proper sized mug! As for the food: I've had better ale & cheddar soup. 4square tips suggested the shrimp taco trio's, so I tried those. The sauce did a good job of bringing out the flavor of the shrimp, but the pico on it had too many onions. And the mexican rice on the size had far too much cumin in it. Overall, meh.

Let's keep this simple folks: wide selection of booze With live entertainment (the guy waiting on our table was chiming along with Rihanna singing "only girl in the world" and the old guy at the bar was jiving all alone at midnight singing for himself on his birthday...in an empty restaurant.. Not quite sure whether that was funny or pathetic..2 pints of beer and some flatbread down.. We decided that we had enough!

  • Heather H.

I've now been here twice over the course of the last year, and honestly I think that is quite enough. The first time I don't remember much about either the beer or the food. I know I got a flatbread pizza, and I remember liking it ok enough. I remember literally nothing about the beer. Visit two was just this past weekend and while I remember what I had right now, it is fading fast as it was equally non-descript. To drink, I had the stout, which was ok, and to eat I had their pasta with alfredo sauce and had them add broccoli. It was also ok. Oh, and we also shared the pretzel appetizer between five of us. They were breadstick-esque pretzels with cheese dip that looks suspiciously like the cheese soup one of our party ordered. Really, if that were to whole of my experience, I would come back if someone else wanted to come here. The service, however, was something else altogether. After waiting about 15 min for a table (no big deal, it was Sat night and we had five people), we were seated, It was probably pushing 10 minutes before our server came to our table, and when she did, she was completely condescending about their beers. She started out asking if any of us had been there before, which most of us had, and then said "well we do brew our own beers in house, but I'll only bother telling you about them if any of you are even interested in ordering beer". This was said in a tone and manner that completely implied that because we were five women, we would probably be ordering f'ing cosmos or chocolate martinis, so she wasn't going to waste her time discussing beer with us. Turns out all five of us are avid beer drinkers (hence choosing a brewpub for dinner). Aside from being immediately insulted, the service throughout the meal was also terrible. Our pretzels were delivered by someone not our server, and they were quickly dropped on our table with no appetizer plates. After waiting long enough that a skin was forming on the cheese dip, one of our party ended up scrounging up plates form wait stations around the restaurant so we could eat our food. It was our waitress who brought our actual meals, but then we did not see her again until we had been done with our food completely for 10-15min. I don't know if she smiled at all, and was clearly not excited to be working. Fine, I get it, I've waited tables - it can often really blow - but that is no excuse for the abysmal service we received during this meal.

This place is so hot and cold it is not funny. It is right around the corner from my office, so I usually visit for lunch. My advice would be to stick with the burgers or wrap sandwiches. Other items seem to be really hit and miss. The Bedda Chedda burger is probably the best thing on the menu and they offer a lunch portion which is nice. I have found the soups and other sandwiches to be so-so. If you are looking for a place to have a drink, this is a good place. The bar staff is very friendly and they have a great selection of their own craft beers. they also have a full bar and wine list. The restaurant also tends to be pretty loud, so if you need a quite place to have a biz lunch, this might not be the best place. Most days there is a wait for lunch, so try and be there before noon to avoid the 20+ minute wait. The fact that this place can be so inconsistent yet have a line every day goes to show just how underserved this area of Indy/Carmel is in terms of restaurants. Daddy Jacks/Kona Jacks are really the only other non-fast food options in this area. If you give this place a try, stick to the basics or you might be disappointed

I have been meaning to write this review for sometime...I don't know how I keep forgetting, b/c the first time I visited here for lunch, I had the worst service I've had in Indy in a few years. I was 8 months pregnant and ordered the fastest thing on the menu - soup and salad. Somehow my girlfriends meals (both hot - one chicken) came out 15 minutes before mine. I was sitting with an empty tea and no food for an immense amount of time (especially for a pregnant hungry chick). I never saw our waiter again. I had to flag down a waitress who was working in another section, tell her about my forgotten EASY meal and asked to see a manager. The manager kindly comped my meal, but the waiter was never to be seen again - somehow I doubt they fired him over it, but I would not be surprised. Restaurant business is finicky and all. The one annoying thing was that I was charged for my iced tea that never got refilled ($2.99 or something ridic). In any case, it was nearly a year before I ventured back in. When service blows, I just don't deal well. I was a server in my early working days and appreciate what it means to EARN a tip, be kind and do my (though hard), simple job. We went a few weeks ago with my in laws b/c my hubby has been wanting to try it out. We both got the salmon and it was good. Nothing particularly overwhelming. The server was nice and consistent. Much better than my last experience, which is why they get 2 stars instead of 1. What can I say...I'm nice like that. If you are looking for some place to eat, it's obviously hit and miss. I mean, it's not horrible, but there are other (better) options.

Enjoyed the special of the evening which was Sea Bass in a lemon beurre sauce, garlic mashed potatoes and green beans. Delicious meal, totally satisfied and I'm a tough person to please. Our server was sincerely attentive and spot on with the service and so, so nice. Very pleased. My sister in law had the flat bread pizza with bacon and she thought that is was awesome too. Walleye my brother and mother had was little over fried, but hey, fried food isn't good for you anyway and frying fish is a sin in my book. May have just been a bit over cooked.

Visited again yesterday and the ketchup issue still exists. Only this time, when the waiter asked if we needed anything and my wife asks for ketchup and mayo, the waiter replays "Can you just give me a minute?" Uh, OK. You asked us if we needed anything. Sorry to bother you. I guess we'll go somewhere else next time. If you want to find me, I'll be across the street at Daddy Jack's where the steak fries are awesome and they will give you as much ketchup as you want without bitching about it.

This was our first time here and the decor was nice and tranquil while the food was good and in my opinion a little over priced. We all ordered sandwiches which came out on time and everyone enjoyed them. Overall a nice place we might be back again to try something different

Granite City, situated on the near north side of Indy off Meridian, is a newer hot spot to meet for drinks and enjoy some unique dishes. GCF and Brewery brews their own beets on site and also incorporates them into some of their dishes. Take out offer online has a $5 off $25 order. Many menu items have suggested brew pairings. Lunch suggestions: Ale and Cheddar soup, Linguine with Grilled Chicken and Asparagus paired with Wag's American Wheat is a great combo for lunch. Dinner suggestion: Wedge Salad and Honey Rosemary Filet Mignon with garlic mashed potatoes and fresh broccoli. This place has plenty of atmosphere for entertaining with friends and is a great place to suggest if you are looking for something fresh. They feature Saturday and Sunday Brunch menus as well.

Great selection and amazing quality food. The flatbread pizza appetizer is one of my favorites on the menu. It's made to perfection! The ale and cheddar soup is also very tasty. This too is an appetizer, but I would happily eat a whole bowl for dinner. Good service and atmosphere. It can get busy, but they keep things moving so there's no long waits.

I stopped in for a networking lunch and really enjoyed the place. The food was good and fresh. The staff was pleasant and it was a good environment to get a bite and get some business done. I have since added it to one of my go to spots for meetings.

This is the perfect place to go grab some appetizers and sit in the bar area. The pretzels and cheese are addictive. The pretzels are perfect for dipping and not too filling. The loaded fries with the Granite City dip are also very tasty, but it's a huge portion, so be ready to share.

Good atmosphere, friendly waitstaff, and delicious food. The Sunday brunch is amazing, but typically there's a pretty good wait due to the after-church crowd. The Cuban with sweet potato fries and a pepper bacon and tomato flatbread appetizer is my go-to meal. Overall, one of my favorite places to eat on the north side.

    (4)
  • Jeremy G.

Me and my gf have been going here occasionally since we moved up to the north side. Food has always been pretty good, and the service has usually been even better. We definitely prefer to sit in the bar, as it's a very laid back area compared to the main area that is dominated by large families/groups. Some of the food is just OK. Seemingly focusing on large plate size to impress rather than taste. There are a few gems, though. Definitely try the shrimp tacos and the cuban.

This restaurant is conveniently located next to my company's office. When ever I'm in Indy we usually end up having at least one dinner here. They brew their own beers, which is nice; I enjoyed the Two Pull, which is a mix of their Northern Light and their Bock beers. The menu is pretty average but the portions are huge. The sauce they used on their wings is pretty tasty. In summary, the beer is decent and the menu is average.

There Jasper was -- lounging at his mobile office in the Northside Renaissance Hotel amidst the Corporate landscape. And as Jasper kicked off his airport-purchased Johnston & Murphy shoes...he clicked on the tube and on came the Dana Carvey-vehicle "Opportunity Knocks," the 1990 classic. Tapping his Parker Pen...he realized he struck gold and thought about the surrounding landscape. He wasn't hungry or thirsty, nor did he drink alcohol ever, but he went down to the Hotel Bar, asked Thurston Moore (that's the bartender), "hey...you know...you know what this area is missing a brewpub. A brewpub no one has ever heard about. But a brewpub for someone like us. The casual Geico-Wellpoint Business traveler. And there we have Granite City Brewery. And off Jasper went to his next anonymous adventure. Never to be seen or heard of again. The point is...this place feels anonymous. A lack of local-ness. Like...it should be in airport. And, well, I don't want our city to feel like a big airport terminal. Granite counter tops to make every middle-ager feel right at home. It's wildy in-style to have beer that isn't named "Budweiser," or even, "Sam Adams," now. Now, we have an anonymous brewer with "specialty beer." The menu is vast, wide ranging -- covering all tastes traveling into town. The beer's drinkable, sure, but not as interesting as it thinks it is. Compare it to say...what it seems like it's competitor Rock Bottom...and you'll notice that Rock Bottom has been around long enough to hone the craft where Granite City just seems like a long night of placebo-comfort. I must say...Irish Sausage in an Italian pasta dish is the boldest political statement of unity that has come out of Indy in some time. THE REASON TO GO: $5 pitchers on Thursday Nights! Yes, the hard-to-find deals on Thursdays has been found here. Let the corporate lackeys fill this places pockets to pay their rent, so we have a good Thursday beer deal.

We've been here several times now and the experience has been great every single time. We've ordered their beer sampler and can say they're all great but we especially like the Octoberfest. The food is great and the portion sizes are enormous. The Idaho Nacho appetizer must be weighed in pounds. The Tomato Basil Flatbread pizza appetizer was great. I've ordered the Napa Valley burger and highly recommend it. We went there this past Sunday for brunch. The food on the buffet was high quality (probably the best bacon I've ever had), hot, and the delicious. Be sure and go some Monday and join the Mug Club. You get larger beer sizes and reduced prices on the food.... a real bargain.

I have only been to Granite City once and it was alright experience, but I am not sure if I would head back there.I am not a beer drinker, so I cannot comment on their beer. Our service was OK, nothing outstanding. Food was decent, it was neither bad nor memorable. For our party of four, we ordered pork chops, an enchilada, a burger and a wrap. There were no complaints on the food. The wrap was presented awkwardly on the plate though. It was cut in half, one half was placed on the plate lying down while the other half placed standing straight up. I felt that it would fall off as the waiter handed it to me. Prices were moderate. All in all, there was nothing very special about this place.

This wasn't our first choice as we ventured out on Saturday night. We got there around 730 and it was an hour wait. We were hungry and tired of trying to figure out where to go. So we opted to wait. The wait was only surprisingly 30 minutes. I noticed that the floors were super slick-as I had heels on I could have just slid over the floor. So watch your step! We had reviewed the menu on line while we were waiting and nothing really jumped out as a had to have or try. There were a few things that seemed ok. We settled with our beer-my husband said it was ok. And he likes nothing more than trying new beers. I settled with a glass of wine and we decided on getting the pretzels with cheese/beer sauce as an ap. The pretzel sticks were pillowy and soft. The cheese sauce was runny and sort of bland. This should have been an indication of the way the rest was going to go. I settled on the Adult Mac and Cheese-which has pepperjack, alfredo, and cheese sauce that's simmered in one of their crafted beers with red pepper flakes, bacon, grilled chicken & breadcrumbs. My husband got the BeddaChedda Burger. My food was warm at best and between the pepperjack and red pepper flakes I was exepcting some sort of zip to it...it was very bland. The chicken chunks (there were 5 all together) had no flavor. The burger review was I've had better it's ok. Not much flavor. Our waitress came back to check on us and I actually sent my mac & cheese back. I've never done this but I just couldn't eat it. She did ask if i'd like to try something else and I opted out. I wanted flavor and we were 3 for 3 on that I doubt a 4th item would be above this. The manager came over to talk to me and ask me what the problem with my food was and he was very nice. He offered again if I wanted to try anything else. I did not. They did take my meal off of our tab. All in all I'm in no rush to go back. There are plenty of other options in this city that are way better.

I wanted to not like it here. They are a chain with some 26 operations throughout the Midwest. I will tell you though, it is pretty nice in there. It is a classy looking place, but there is definitely a chain's sterile feel to the place. Chris, my waiter was fantastic. Very attentive and knowledgeable of the beers. I had a flight of the samples. I have to tell you, the beer was decent. Nothing too awesome, but the IPA and the Stout had some interesting characteristics. And interesting is better than just OK in my book. The flat-bread pizza (oddly shaped purely for novelty and 'so you'll remember us') was nothing to write home about. I had the tomato basil, essentially a Margherita. So in summation, it is like an Applebee's or a Chile's, but they brew their beer there. Better than Budweiser or Coors for sure, but not quite the ideal.

Love love love this place! The Bruchetta chicken salad is amazing. I had the chicken tortellni recently and it's amazing. Always great service. I've never had a bad meal here. The flatbread pizzas are good. Also, when they have their seasonal blueberry beer that is also purple, give it a try. Very yummy.

Met up with some friends for lunch on Sunday. We didn't know brunch was the thing for Sundays. You can still order off the regular menu, but our server wasn't overly pleased I wanted to order off the menu. I got a burger with waffle fries and my friends go the brunch. Burger was BIG but just a pretty standard burger. Fries were good. My friends enjoyed their bloody mary's (on special) which came with a huge dill pickle and a great price. The brunch buffett had eggs, sausage, waffle station but they had pasta, fresh salads, fruit and soup. They seem to enjoy it but no one really raved it was the best brunch ever. I think I would like to go back here on a non-brunch featured day to have some drinks more specifically beer and try some other menu items.

I went to Granite for the second time just a couple days ago. Overall the food is solid, the beer is great, the menu is expansive, and service is friendly. But this last visit was lackluster for several small reasons: 1. When the waitress brought me my raspberry iced tea, my first sip was a mouthful of pure raspberry syrup since she hadn't mixed it at all. Ugh, not pleasant. The second one she brought was like that too, but I had caught on to her. 2. The Idaho nachos, which were awesome last time I was there, were covered in oddly placed sheets of cheese, so grabbing one waffle fry was difficult. 3. When a server brought out my clam chowder and salad, she announced exactly what it was before setting it down. I knew what I had ordered. I just wanted the food in front of me that very moment. 4. When finally flagged down the waitress to get a refill of my all you-can-eat-soup-and-salad, the waitress looked at me like I was crazy. What, no soup for me? 5. The second salad that came out had croutons on it. The first one had not. Oh. 6. Our bill was screwed up, and while we did the math and figured out that the waitress had given us the correct total, she offered no explanation as to why there were two receipts, with things crossed off, and the actual total hand-written in pen. So yeah, this visit was kind of all over the place. But I'm not opposed to going back. I just hope they get the little things right.

Meh. I won't be going back. There's way better dining options in Indy. I had the Brother Benedict's Beer Battered Cod, and it wasn't thoroughly cooked so I could taste the unfried breading. The waffle fries tasted like shoestring potato chips from a bag. Portions were enormous, even in these days of supersizing. The desserts were greasy. I was with a big group, so didn't want to delay the party by sending the meal back. Maybe they'd have done better on a 2nd try. But I'd rather go somewhere next time where they get it right the 1st time. On a plus side, the service was attentive and we were never left thirsty.

Went there for lunch. The Asian Chicken Salad was to die for. Good business environment at lunch. Waitress was good.

I want to like GC but I just never do. The food is anywhere from "not bad" to "very good" but the service, from the front entrance to the whole meal is always underwhelming, which seems like a real shame. I'll keep trying every few months to see if it ever gets any better. Until then, 2 stars is generous.

You know, most of the time I'm not a fan of Granite City. I'm not big on alcohol, so that aspect has never appealed to me (but not deterred me by any means). However, today as great!! I hesitate to give it a complete five stars only because the other 4-5 times I've been there I would have given them 2 stars. They have an entirely new menu. I went with a friend, and we shared the Napa Burger and the Grilled Chicken and Asparagus Linguini; and both of them were quite exceptional. I highly recommend both of them. We asked for the thin-cut (my favorite style) french fries to be unsalted, and we dipped them into their Caesar salad dressing (it's creamy, don't worry). I gotta tell you, it is SO GOOD. The service was good (my friend was a 'camel' and so the server had to keep bringing drinks but was very good natured about it). Overall, it's an upper-scale place to eat and hang out with friends and/or family. I will definitely be back, as I can't stop thinking about that pasta and how great it was!

After receiving a gift card for Granite City, we decided to try it out in spite of the mediocre Yelp reviews. Frankly, the restaurant lived down to expectations. We arrived on a Saturday night at around 8pm and had to wait about 20 minutes for our table. As we were being seated, the waitress arrived and tried to take a drink order before the wife even had her coat off - not a great start. In reviewing the menu, we noticed that a lot of the dinners had some strange combinations of flavors, especially the pasta. For example, the "Pesto Chicken" is "smothered in alfredo and basil." Since when does pesto have alfredo sauce, and vice versa? The Blackened Chicken Linguine is tossed in a creamy parmesan sauce (not alfredo?) and finished in Bearnaise sauce. Really? Bernaise? Does it come with a side of Statins? The menu oddities aside, we ordered a wedge salad, french onion soup, BBQ pork chops, and a Southwestern chicken salad. The soup was good but the wedge salad came with flavorless hot house tomatoes instead of tastier cherry or grape tomatoes. The pork chops are advertised as two 7oz chops. Our plate had one chop that was substantially larger than the other. This resulted in the smaller chop being much more dried out than the larger. The mash potatoes were very dry as well. The Southwest chicken salad was fine, the vinaigrette was very light so I ordered a side of extra dressing which helped add needed flavor. Sadly, Indy is the capital of chain restaurants and this one ranks below other better choices. Pick a locally owned restaurant instead of Granite City but if you insist on a chain, I'd recommend Cheesecake Factory or Houlihan's for similar choices and better quality.

I prefer the South Bend location. On one hand, the service here was trying waaaaayyyy too hard to make us think that they loved their job (clapping/dancing to their own music in their head). But on the other hand, our waiter needed to be asked for refills, would talk to us while walking by (i. e. "how's everything?), making an impression that he didn't really care, but was forced to pretend to. His demeanour was so incredibly cheesy, that it was almost insulting! I truly never thought that I would say that, however, this guy, and the floor manager, acted like they tried to be EXCSTATIC about their job so hard, I really was wondering where their pieces of flair were! Other than the uncomfortable service, the food was good, as expected.

OK, upon further review the food is not all that great. The service is become mediocre as well. I much prefer Stone Creek on Michigan Rd.

This was our second time to GC, and probably our last. The bar staff was very friendly and attentive while we waited for a table, but service went to hell after we were seated. Much of our problems seem to revolve around our server Amanda and the manager. Amanda was very good at disappearing for extended periods, including when she had to go back to the kitchen to get the rest of my girlfriend's order. During this time, we attempted to flag down who appeared to be the manager, but were given the 'one moment please' gesture and then he also disappeared. By the time we had everything, her food was cold. She had ordered the crispy buffalo chicken wrap but instead received the grilled chicken sandwich which was also way over cooked, but that's a different issue. Considering the issues and wasted time we already experienced, she just ate it since we were getting pressed for time. Other tables around us seemed to be having problems with Amanda as well, including two that were seated before us and still waiting on their bill at the time that we left. On our way out the door, one of the host staff asked us how everything was. My response was that service sucked tonight, which was greeted with a cheery "sorry about that!" Having worked in various forms of sales and customer service for over 20 years, "sorry about that" is generally associated with "up yours."

Imagine Applebee's was a microbrewery but served the same food. The house beers are pretty great (4 stars), but the menu is uninspiring and the meals were bland (2 stars). The flat-bread pizza looked like it might have been the only thing on the menu worth the price and actually tasty.

I have to admit that I wasn't too excited to try this place. I had read some not-so-favorable reviews, and since I consider myself somewhat of a "foodie," I had assumed the worst. I was pleasantly surprised! A friend suggested we meet at Granite City for dinner on a Thursday night. Like I said, I wasn't super-excited for their food, but didn't want to argue with him. When I pulled into the parking lot and couldn't find an open spot, I started getting frustrated that I might have to wait a long time for sub-par food. We entered the crowded entry/hostess area and got a pager, but we ended up being seated in just about five minutes. The place is huge! So I was glad to be seated quickly, but then I figured the huge dining area would mean mass-produced, chain-restaurant type food. Again, I was pleasantly surprised. The chicken parmesan was just lightly breaded and very tender and flavorful. The tomato sauce was fresh, light, sweet, & basil-y. Yum! My friend ordered the stout-glazed pork tenderloin with potatoes & veggies. He ate it all and said it was delicious! I didn't order any of their beer, so I can't rate their brews, but my friend enjoyed his stout ale (and stout glaze on the pork). I would definitely go back!

Had a great time with friends and family here tonight. The food was just as great. I ordered a beer sampler that came with samples of 8 different beers. It was a great deal being only $3.75!! Good amount of beer too! I had for an appetizer French onion soup... Really good if you like French onion. The shrimp tacos was my entree and they were absolutely delicious!!! A little spicy and a little tangy all in the same bite. Comes with a side of pico and Spanish rice. I will order it again!!! Very tasty. The atmosphere in the restaurant was really nice. Several plasma's on the walls for viewing while eating. Our server was nice also. We all shared a delicious dessert. It was a cheesecake chimichanga with vanilla ice cream!! So delicious!!!! If you haven't been to granite city, please check it out.

Hostess was unbelievable slow. Sat people in the wrong order. Called wrong numbers. We waited for over the time. They sat a 6 top that came in after us before us. When I brought it to their attention they didn't even say sorry. Then after we waited they crammed 5 of us at a 4 top. Food was average. We had a gift card from Christmas. We won't go back.

Bad service, poor quality and value. And I went after the lunch time crowd and the server was too busy chatting with her friends to provide prompt service.
