I came here on a busy summer Saturday night with a group of my lady friends. When I say busy, I mean PACKED. Every seat was taken outside at the bar and surrounding the bar, and inside was crowded as well. At first we were getting fed up with the service (we waited and waited for the bartender to serve us outside), and we almost left. However, as the dinner rush started to clear out, service got much better. There is complimentary valet (not a lot of room to park when it is crowded), live music, and a beautiful view of the lake. The bar is like a tiki hut, so you kind of feel like you are on vacation. We didn't have any of the food, but there was a nice drink selection. Drinks were pretty reasonably priced. I would definitely come back. Just know that you may need to be patient with service on a crowded night. Also, wear bug spray. The mosquitoes will eat you alive outside at night.

Went there recently for lunch. Service was great, waitress was perky and friendly. Lunch menu had lots of choices, food was good, but average......we ate inside where the seating was good...out side seating has a great view of lake in nice weather.... Would go back but not for a while..

Memorial Luncheon: Docks hosted my Mom's memorial luncheon for 115 guests. They did buffet style in the bar area and did a fantastic job. Cheryl and her staff provided wonderful food and great service. Many guests made a point to tell me how impressed they were with everything. They made a very tough day much easier on me. Thanks!

I came to Docks last Friday night to see a band play. My friends and I bought shots throughout the nights, Patron, Jameson, etc., nice shots.....they came in the little clear plastic cups that you serve at picnics. I do not know about you, but if I am spending extra for a shot of Patron, it should never, ever come in plastic cups. And the bartender was very rude. Fail.

One of the best place in the Wauconda area. Not on the beach like Lindy's but great outdoor bar, a-la-tiki, overlooking the lake. Great ambiance, good place to meet people and friends. Good bar food, good crew

My husband & I live in Wauconda and Dock's is a local place. We make every attempt to support local businesses, and live only about 1.5 miles away around Bang's Lake. We took my dad here on Father's Day and had a truly disappointing experience. They were very busy when we arrived and I had to wait for the hostess to acknowledge me, but that was OK, I understood it was Father's Day. However, I felt badly for the poor girl who was attempting to deal with seating people AND taking food orders over the phone at the same time -- I felt like the owner should have planned better and had more people working. There was no room on the outdoor deck, OK, we figured as much, that's why I had made a reservation. The hostess started taking us to an interior table when my dad asked if we could sit at an open table right by one of the windows. The hostess said no, the table was saved for a larger party. We had 5 people in our group and the table in question seated 6. OK then. Our server came over in a decent amount of time and took our beverage orders. We then ordered food. After we put our food order in, we proceeded to wait for approximately an hour to get our food. We ordered 3 salads (so that takes no cooking time), a veggie wrap, and my dad ordered walleye. How long can fish take to cook? Our server seemed embarrassed but didn't know what to do when we asked for the 2nd time if our food was going to be coming soon. She brought us a small plate of bread with 4 slices on it -- as I mentioned, there were 5 of us....so one of us couldn't even have a piece! To top it off, I ordered a salad that normally had chicken on it -- because I don't eat chicken, I asked to substitute with salmon. There WAS an extra fee for adding salmon printed in the menu -- but it was a fee for ADDING salmon to the salad with chicken, not subbing it. Our server said there wouldn't be an extra charge since I was foregoing the chicken. When we got our bill, they had added $10 to the price of the salad. I mean, it was a decent salad, but I don't think a salad is worth $25! My husband sent the restaurant an email detailing our experience -- the response received was, "Sorry, we were very busy that day. The charge for adding salmon is clearly printed on the menu." That was it. Wow. Very disappointing, and I guess they don't really care about keeping loyal customers!

Food was incredibly average. Service atrocious. Waitress totally forgot my wife's fish tacos (and on her birthday/Mother's Day). Their attempt at resolution. Free dessert. My Turkey Club had a half a head of lettuce on it, which I had to remove to fit my mouth on it. In Wauconda to eat? Go to Slyce or Bulldogs. Avoid this place like the plague.

Great summer place with the beach and beach bar. Great food and drinks as well. We go there at least once a week.

Ordered a buffalo chicken wrap with chips. Got a buffalo chicken wrap with tough chewy chicken and chips that taste and look more like fries. Disappointed is an overstatement.

If you're looking for a place to party and enjoy a descent meal, this is the place.... They are located off Route 176 in downtown Wauconda on Bangs Lake. They have an indoor updated restaurant as well as an outdoor dining area on their deck. The deck is very large and has a pretty large tiki bar located on it. There are plenty of tables with umbrellas which gives you a feeling of being on your patio or deck at home. We came here on a warm sunny Sunday afternoon. We were seated on the deck which overlooks Bangs Lake. The day that we came was pretty packed and there was a band playing some 80's music. I ordered a vodka lemon-aid which was refreshing. We then ordered our meal which was pretty good. My only issue was that I had finished my drink and wasn't asked until our server brought out our bill if I wanted another drink. Don't get me wrong, the staff is pretty friendly, but it just seamed that there may not have been enough people to handle the large crowded place. One last thing....The parking lot is small and because a lot of bikers come here they will need to valet your car. Everyone appears to get along with each other so it's all good.

Great outdoor patio/bar/deck area. Best part, they're dog friendly if you sit outside. Decent food with good views of the lake and a nice relaxed vibe sitting out side listening to music. Our chocolate lab Cooper gives it 2 paws up.....

As always dinner was awesum, filets melt in your mouth. My girl had the chicken pot pie, it was very good. It's huge!! Pumpkin cheesecake & French Silk pie is awesum. Staff is always great & personable.

Absolutely love this place. Perfect chill spot by the lake and the food is amazing. Me and my girlfriend love going to the bad area and ordering food too. It's a very relaxing spot over the week and it could get busy on the weekends. Very friendly staff and very friendly bartenders.

Went here last night for a night out with my husband. We sat outside at the bar and had Tamra as our bartender. I have to say, she was awesome! Very attentive and very entertaining to talk to. One of the best bartenders I've met. I should also mention that I ordered the crab cake ap and it was delicious! Definitely going back soon.

Eh.. over priced and underwhelming. What "bar and grill" charges $14.00 for a cosmo?! That's crazy. I could see if it were in Chicago at a chic eatery, but here...really?! Crazy!! Food was nothing much..mediocre at best. Would go back for the great lake view and ambiance. Our waitress Nicolas was awesome tho!

Last night on a glorious Thursday summer evening we went to Dock's hoping to eat outside. Arriving at 7ish pm I was told it would be a 15-20 minute wait for a table for two. I waited for my date while enjoying a $3 Corona Light 12 oz draft. My date arrived and as promised in 15 minutes we were offered a table, wanting to sit closer to the rail and the lake, Dock's overlooks Bangs Lake, we waited three more minutes. The host was welcoming, friendly, and accommodating. Matt our server was awesome. Quick, knowledgable, and checked in with us at the right times. We enjoyed the half slab rib dinner special. The baby back ribs were meaty tender and fall off the bone and the sauce just perfect. But the hidden gems were the house made garlic mashed potatoes, WOW, yumtastic and so much better than a baker. The veggie mix was cooked perfect with a little bit of crunch left and plenty of flavor. All for $14.95. There was plenty of food. The crowd was lively, adult, with some young families mixed in, and appropriately energetic but being on the deck it was perfect. Almost had the vibe of a picnic or someone's backyard dinner party. What a perfect night!! We will definitely be back!!

This is an excellent place for your next meal/destination. The food is superb and service is the best. I live on the water in Florida and this place makes me feel at home. Jeff, the owner makes you feel welcome and happy to be there. I'll be back next year when visiting.

Coming from a restaurant background Monday night is always sketchy time to go out for dinner, went out for dinner for the birthday party and had a most incredible experience. Our entrees were prepared fresh, incredibly hot presented beautifully, the food was outstanding the service was incredible our waitress Nicole (request her) was incredibly accommodating and the general manager slash owner Jeff helped me out because I am one of those strange people who likes their meal to be sizzling hot (beyond normal) and I was takin care of, we're so happy with the meals and service. .. MUST EAT HERE!

I had been here a few times before for drinks but never for a sit down meal. After reading some of the reviews I had some doubts. I ended up being very satisfied with the experience. Our server was good and very playful with our shy daughter. My only complaint was service was a little slow but not nearly enough to ruin the sitting. The food was was also very good. We enjoyed a huge plate of nachos and my bison burger was delicious. A little pricey, but nonetheless a tasty meal.

So, Memorial Day weekend 2014 was pretty perfect, amiright? Sunday, specifically, was a gorgeous day, in which I wanted to be outside as much as humanly possible. When dinnertime rolled around after a 2.5 mile walk with my man, my only requests were "no sushi and somewhere where I can sit outside." So, he hopped on Rand and headed north, with no particular destination in mind. Somehow, we ended up at Docks, and I knew right away we'd hit the jackpot. The parking lot was JAMMED, to the point where our only option was the complimentary valet. The patio, which was enormous, was also jammed. We were quoted an hour to an hour and a half for a table outside, and headed to the bar for a drink. Bartenders were friendly (as long as you were being polite back!) and drinks are well poured. We found a quieter spot on the ramp up to the patio toward the back and took in the scenery while waiting. Docks is located right on the water, so there are plenty of boats and jet-skis to watch go by. Our actual wait time was only about 45 minutes, which was excellent, because I was starving. We shared the bruschetta, after seeing it go to another table, and also a patty melt. Both were outstanding. The bruschetta had large chunks of tomato, garlic, and onion on perfectly grilled bread, topped with a generous amount of fresh mozzarella cheese and balsamic drizzle. The patty melt was cooked perfectly to temperature, with just the right amount of grill on the bread and great onion-to-burger ratio. Dock's is definitely off the beaten path (for me), I'd never even heard of it before! I'd definitely be inclined to return on a warm summer afternoon/evening. Good food, good company, good people watching!

I have mixed feelings about this place. Defiantly the go to spot in Wauconda when it's nice out! From what I can remember they have good food but I either have a great or horrible time here. Sometimes the crowd is a little older but what do you expect, location. I would recommend coming here for a bite to eat and some drinks but that's about it! I don't know if I would come here again at night to have a good time.

If you are looking for good service- stay away. I have been eating at this location for nearly 5 years only because of the food quality. We typically order out because the service is not up to par. We decided to eat in and wanted to leave bc it took 20 minutes To get a drink and had to constantly waive down our waiter.

  • Suzanne T.

Poor Docks. The food bbq ribs, coconut shrimp, onion rings and fish tacos--all delicious the wait staff deplorable. Treat yourself and dine in don't carry out. Repeated problems. The food will be quickly, sloppily packed and usually missing something-part of the entree, the side dish or sauces/dips. Last time we made that mistake we waited briefly in Docks bar amidst loudly complaining, F bomb dropping cocktail waitresses, ripping the bartender.

Let me start off saying it was my first time here! This restaurant/bar is amazing! The service is above and beyond in my mind, from the moment we walked up to the hostess stand to put down reservations; she was very sweet and had a great smile. Then the bat staff was a blast; very energetic group of people who seemed to really enjoy working there. The servers were outstanding as well...the whole time there we had a blast!!! My friend and I came on a live music night and they were great! Then the good was amazing, even though we got only a couple of things to munch on. I would recommend this place for ANYONE who is looking for a casual place to have fun, drink a beer or two on a dock over looking the beautiful lake, or to families who just want to sit outside and enjoying the weather and watch the boats out in the water. THANK YOU FOR YHR GREAT EXPERIENCE & KEEP UP THE OUTSTANDING JOB!!!!

I really dig this place!!! I came here for a lunch date with a girlfriend this week, and it was my first time! There was no parking on the upper level, and I really didnt feel like driving my car to the lower level, so I did the "free" valet parking. They have a very nice and spacious outdoor seating area...it was super hot outsie, but at least they had plenty of umbrellas and our adorable and awesome waiter Ethan kept our waters coming. They have a pretty solid menu and all reasonably priced. My friend and I both ordred the veggie panini...very tastey...I do wish they put it on different bread though because it was getting soggy from all the grilled veggies...we just used our knife and fork to eat it instead! :) Very yummy! The fries (with ranch of course) were awsesome as well. The service is good and the food is very good as well! I plan on coming on more lunch dates here in the near future!!

We brought in a big group of bikes on an off Tuesday night and this place delivered! Lake view? Check Hawks game visible and listenable outside? Check Clean, nice bathrooms? Check Bike parking area? Check Plenty of outdoor seating for a big group? Check Great beer? Check and double check! This place has a few great beers on tap outside. Anti-Hero and a couple of other good looking IPAs. I didn't get a better look at the taps inside, but I imagine it continues. The food was pretty good in general, but man the nacho plates were HUGE! They came with a non-puny side of sour cream and guacamole and the chips must have been on a ~12" plate piled 8" high with all of the usual fixin's. A friend also shared a patty melt that was pretty darn good (for a patty melt). Well cooked, bread toasted, and not too greasy. Wait service was great for showing up unannounced with a ton of people. The waiter did a great job to help us with anything we needed and get our orders out fast without bugging us too much. Service at the outside bar was a bit slow, but there were a bunch of us there. The waiter service was a bit faster. I wasn't clear at first that there was waiter service outside, so if you are out there just have a seat and make yourself at home.

One of the FEW waterside restaurants that is also pet friendly (on the deck). I had a huge BLT and an awesome gin and tonic. Dog had her own water bowl. :)

I'd like to counter some of these harsh reviews... something about preferring Taco Bell in a sweaty sock? Not quite. First, before I get to the food, this is the #1 spot for patio dining/drinking in the NW suburbs. Great view. I ordered the Prime Rib Sandwich and subbed in onion rings instead of fries and WOW. AMAZING lunch. They have Revolution Brewery's Anti-Hero on tap, the sun was shining, and both the sandwich and the onion rings were stellar. I'm sitting here at work right now really kicking myself for forgetting my leftovers at home. I want to devour the other half of that beast. Generous piles of tender prime rib on soft garlic bread with a side of au jus and a smokey chipotle/horseradsish dipping sauce oh my. .... I have to stop now I'm getting hungry.

I want to say that maybe I'm spoiled from all the lavish meals I've had in the city...but I'd like to think I'm easier to please than that. Especially since I'm pregnant and eating is one thing I look forward to these days... BUT...Sunday is all-you-can-eat prime rib at Docks. For any carnivore, this should bring a sparkle to their eye. Not so much... I think we came at a time when they were shutting down their brunch buffet service and transitioning to lunch (1pm). Well, we all ordered from the Sunday lunch specials. Two prime rib AYCEs and two Sunday chicken dinners. And a round of bloody marys (virgin for me!). Initially the server was attentive, bringing our drinks/water promptly. But then she disappeared and left us sitting there for like an hour. Waiting for our food. Not sure if she didn't come back because she knew our food was taking forever and she didn't want to explain (she certainly wasn't slammed) but she didn't come back. A good hour in, our food arrives. The two chicken dinners (were supposed to be half chickens) were actually cornish hens...with no breasts. Mashed potatoes were yummy, but you can tell they had been sitting in the food window because the gravy on top was hardened. And nothing was hot. My father's highlight of the meal: the biscuit and corn. Wow. And he's the easiest to please of us all. The prime rib...ordered rare to medium rare came out lukewarm and well done. How they managed to do this I'm not sure...maybe they tried to cook it too fast? But it was tough, grissly and served as basically a "hunk" of meat. The thickest piece I've ever been served, but that was to no advantage to this meal. It only made it harder to cut, harder to chew and less edible. The best part: the peppered crusting on the outside. We sent both back...and expected to have to wait another at least 30 minutes for new ones...but within 5 minutes, the manager brought us out new cuts of meat...more toward the medium rare, but definitely still tough and full of grissle. Served on the same exact bed of veggies we had just sent back. So we received a completely disheveled plate of food. Not good. And not going back. Period.

Always a great experience at Docks. The prime rib is amazing. Good drinks and good people. Plus a great view. I will definitely be going back for the prime rib the portion was huge and cooked and seasoned perfectly.

Went to Memorial Day parade to honor nation's heros including family. Came back to parking lot (behind bulldogs) and 2 vehicles towed. Long story short, Docks rents/owns this space and had us towed for 290$ each. Not a single car in the lot. After a a few calls to police and towing companies, Punk kid (valet mngr) drives over in his mercedes and screams at us despite a 3 and 6 yr old and senior citizens now stranded in the heat. This is the owner of Docks son. No mercy, no patriotism, and horrible signage at the lot. 2 dozen other paradegoers parked there, only we got towed. Neighbor came over to confirm the no parking sign (in marker) was not in place and that valets always drive dangerously and park wherever they want. She volunteered to speak to police on our behalf. We will NEVER step foot in Docks again and suggest you do the same.

  • Par C.

Manager is a misogynistic prick who couldn't own up to his own restaurant's mistakes. Our med. rare strip came out med. well and then the manager argued with us yelling in our faces and waving his hands around about how we were wrong and he was right and how he "owned a meat packing company for 20 years". Just because you own a meat packing facility doesn't mean you know how to cook it. And just because there's a table of 5 women, doesn't give him the right to treat them the way we were treated. We would have stayed after dinner and racked up a couple hundred more bucks at the bar, but instead we felt so uncomfortable we left. Ugh. I heard theres a better outdoor bar on the water up the road. If we are ever in town again that is where we will be.

    (1)
  • MrsPigz C.

Over-hyped, crowded and overpriced. Food showed up ice cold INCLUDING the soup!! Turns into a meat market in the evening. Not really kid friendly. Parking lot is HORRIFIC! The only thing that is ok about that is there is valet, but I'm not a fan of valet driving my car. Went once never again.

I had to update my review because the quality has gone down the last 9 months and I don't think its worth the money lately. The Burgers and bloody mary's remain very good but some of the other menu items have not been up to par.

$14.25 for a Martini??? I was astounded. Docks is a lakeside bar and grill (biker bar), not a high class restaurant in the city. Went there for lunch and my bill for a hamburger, fries and two martini's was $41.25?? Won't be going back even though the view is nice in the summer.

My gf and I have been here on a few occasssions... all for weekend lunch. First time, we just stopped in because we've never been there. The next was a complete surprise, as we went for breakfast to find they had an all you can eat buffet/brunch. This final time was on Memorial Day. Incredible weather and a beautiful view while overlooking Bangs Lake. Food and drinks have always been GREAT and service usually pretty good, but on this day... not so much. I don't know if our waitress was new or ready to end her shift, but she seemed irritated. My gf usually gives me a hard time about leaving an "appropriate" tip (I'm pretty hard on the service industry)... but with this waitress, my gf was the one saying she shouldn't get anything. Dock's is a great casual place to dine (only been outside on the deck). Great food and drinks and usually good service. I WILL give them a chance to redeem their 5 star rating... Note: You must try the Strawberry Spinach Salad (comes with chicken, but should substitute grilled shrimp)

    (4)
  • Lisa M.

Summertime on the deck at Dock's is great. The food is good, the view of the lake is amazing. When there is a good band playing, people dance until the place closes. During the cold weather, the crowd thins out but the better bands still bring in enough people for a fun time.

I enjoyed our dinner there on saturday. was it crowded: yes did we have to wait for a table: yes but it WAS a saturday & the weather was beautiful so of course it was busy, but I like that kind of atmosphere. My mother was not happy about the prices but when we got our food you could not complain because everything we ordered was HUGE. We ordered the loaded nachoes, we all had burgers & we even managed to have the FREAKIN AMAZING cookie dessert OMG!!!!!!! I had a few Beach Bum cocktails~YUM We sat, ate, drank, listened to music & me & my daughter even got up & danced a little. It was ALOT of fun with great food. I'd go back

So for being one of the only prettier places to have lunch in Wauconda it's not too bad. Had lunch here with the bf on a lunch break... called in the order ahead of time because they do take a while to get food out. It was ready a few minutes after we sat down. I got the chicken lunch dish and bf got the pasta special. Both meals were HUGE, I wish we would have just gotten 1 and shared it. I really enjoyed my tender chicken with potatoes and veggies, but I wasn't too crazy about the pasta they had that day the sauce was good but the sausage I wasn't a fan of. The view is gorgeous! Overlooking the lake while having lunch enriches the experience. The wait staff was super friendly and quick on their feet. The parking lot is tiny but I somehow managed to get a good spot. When my bf got to his car there was a food truck unloading and blocking him completely! Well ok the food truck was blocking half the parking lot (yes it's that small)... The kind driver did move the truck as soon as we asked him to move. Overall, not a bad experience for a weekday lunch. Affordable, tasty and beautiful.

The waiter that looks like Andy Dick needs to go. He ruined both of my experiences here. First time he was insulting the "extra seasonal help" for all to hear, while he may have been a veteran there, his service was poor and his attitude was AWFUL. He was short, condescending, rude and appeared be be either tipsy or on some other type of drug. I brought my mom and dad here for mothers day which Andy Dick managed to ruin completely this time. I cant even share all the ways he was rude to my mother for asking questions about the menu. Then, it was clear he was not returning to our table and kind of "punishing" us for asking about what kind of marinade the salmon was in and if he had thought the prime rib was good here. AFTER AN HOUR AND A HALF OF RUDE TREATMENT AND NO FOOD, We spoke to the manager and they spoke to him. Andy Dick then returns to our table and said in a very confrontational way "so I heard you complained about me". With that, we got up and left. We went to Middletons on Main which was a much much better experience. Docks should be an incredible experience but theyre losing my business because of that bad apple.

Docks has been a very mediocore restaurant for over the 9 years we have lived in Wauconda. Service and food fair to say the least. We have stopping going. Today we found out that they care very little for the area residents who have supported this restaurant. After a Memorial Day parade they had our, and our son's car, towed out of a very poorly marked parking lot. Earlier there had been numerous cars parked there for the parade. They could have cared less about the circumstances (honoring our veterans) and the $290 fee for each car. The owner brushed us off and basically said tuff luck. So warning... don't valet park your car there because if something happens "they could care less". Very disappointing for a local Wauconda Restaurant.

I really enjoy docks in the summertime. The outdoor patio is huge with great views of Bangs Lake. The food is really good but I think they need to expand their menu. Also they lack on service when you are waiting to be seated. The last time my girlfriend and I went out to dinner 2 weeks ago and waited 15 minutes to be seated with an empty restaurant. The dinner was really good though. Overall it's a nice place to visit if you don't mind the slower service.

Had the chance to visit Dock's on Wednesday which is ladies night, half-priced martinies. I enjoyed the outdoor atmosphere and the drinks. The view is simply beautiful which overlooks the Bangs Lake. The only reason I didn't give five starts is the following: 1. the food wasn't that great. I ordered a simple sandwhich and it was cold and it didn't feel like "freshly made". 2. The bartender at the outdoor patio was not very attentive, we had to wait for awhile to get refills. Other than that this place is not too bad. Give it a try if you're in the area is worth going.

Really bad service. Party of 4 arrived to find our outdoor table was given to another party by mistake. We sat inside. Dinner took 90 minutes. In between no updates, no offer of a beverage or another appetizer while we waited. We ordered 2 salads a deli sandwich and a hamburger. After 90 minutes dinner arrived ane the only cooked meal, the hamburger was totally raw. Amazing.

Awful, beyond awful actually!! 5.50 for the most meager side salad composed of cheap head lettuce, a rotten tomato quarter (literally rotten where you could see wire marks in brown from where it was resting) and a leftover piece of cucumber from the Bloody Mary specials they run. The waitress had to tell us the the side salad was 4.95 and than returned 5 minutes later to ask if 5.50 was going to be alright for us? OMG so the side salads were foul. I ordered the "flat bread" pizza, goat cheese, artichoke, veggies and marinara... Sounds good, right?? Artichokes from a can soaked in brine, nasty soggy bread that was slathered with huge chunks of goat cheese. This place is a mess! My friend ordered a burger. It came dripping with grease and when he sliced it in half and turned it in my direction I almost threw up. The meat was oxidized, the center looked like potted meat. I'm praying I don't get a call from my friend telling me he is sick. This place is really awful, the decor in the dining area consists of massive vases with ugly fake flowers. Career waitress just was looking to get out of the place for the night, never came to check and had a hard time remembering diet coke VS regular. Very hard to get inside through the back entrance..... Literally 6 inches of standing water as well as a cellar entry that looks worse that the silence of the lambs, hike up a massive wooden and iced climb and you get to this nasty place with the worst quality food I've ever experienced in my life. The French fries that my friend ordered as his side were delicious and I was happy to eat them because they were hot and I knew sterile as a result of their temperature. Wonderful pre frozen crinkle cut fries, everything else was nasty. Seriously folks.... Avoid eating here. This was hands down the worst meal I've ever had in my life. BTW, the stale "flat bread" came with a chunk of head lettuce in the middle of the plate, I just don't get this place.

On the plus side, this place has a great location overlooking Bangs Lake. In addition, the outdoor deck they built is very nice. Unfortunately, unless you like the suburban meat market bars, this place has a lot of negatives: Music was loud and obnoxious. Drinks were watered down. Service ranged between indifferent and brusque. Case in point: we had a party of 5 (on one check). Our party ordered three Miller beers. I then noticed that there was a special on Miller beer products if you ordered a "bucket" of five. Since we had already ordered three, and were about to order more, we asked if we could get the "bucket" price. Our server tersely said "No", it was too late and our check could not be adjusted. True? Maybe. Or, maybe she couldn't be bothered to take the trouble. Just like she couldn't be bothered to mention the special to us when we ordered.

Unfortunate imitation of Florida's dockside bars. It's oversized and overpriced. If I am going to pay around $13 for a burger I would like my beer or wine in an actual glass, not a plastic cup.

Never really had a good experience here. Been a few times but it never impresses. Service is so so, food is nothing great and the valet service is a joke. The valet service are a group of young guys that spend more time skate boarding between parking cars than actually working. The last time they parked my car was on a rainy night. When I left they retuned my car with the window open and the inside of my car soaked. Why was my window open???

What a disappointment! We went on a Sunday at 4:00pm. The outdoor patio was packed and they had a live band. It was a beautiful day and we wanted to enjoy the weather. The live band was great, but everything else was pretty disappointing. We waited 20 minutes after being seated before we got up and asked the manager if someone would be by to take our order. A waitress showed up immediately and left me pretty optimistic about how the rest of the night was going to go. I guess I was a little too optimistic. We placed our order right away and both my husband and I ordered prime rib sandwiches, medium rare. While we waited for our food, we asked for a drink menu not once, but three times. Once our drinks and food finally came, we wished we had gone somewhere else. Our entrees showed up well done and cold. For such a nice location and great outdoor space, the service and quality of food is really lacking.

First time going here. Great view and excellent atmosphere. I'm giving less stars due to food service. We had brunch with 5 people. 3 out 5 people did not get what they ordered. Food also took 40 minutes to arrive with the place not being busy. I'm not sure if it was the waiters fault or not. Will not be going back for brunch but maybe for drinks.

We had dinner here on a Sunday night. I believe we had the 'aforementioned' Andy Dick look alike waiter... And while he was slightly aloof, he served us promptly, was very polite and did a great job keeping our drinks full, which I greatly appreciate. Started with the chicken quesadillas which were very good and were accompanied by a generous side of guacamole and sour cream. Then we had clam chowder soup (had a strong nutmeg flavor, yuck) and French onion soup which was ok. My son loved the bison burger. I had the chicken Parmesan which had a huge juicy chicken breast which was really good, although the pasta was overcooked and the sauce lacked seasoning. Overall, good experience and decent food.

Bad service. They were not ready for the holiday weekend. Do not order the Buffalo Chicken flatbread. Was swimming in hot sauce so much it would have been easier to do shots of Franks Hot Sauce. The highlight of the evening was the parking valets very pleasant

Food and atmosphere was awesome, but manager yelled and put his hand in my girlfriends face when she complained her order was wrong. He continued to yell at every female at the table when confronted. Completely disrespectful.

Inconsistent food quality kills the really awesome outdoor dinning experience. On our most recent trip we had the fish tacos...ironically the cooked fish was swimming in a plate of fluid. So bad, when you picked up the taco they fell apart and needed to eat with a fork. Mentioned to the server and manager only to be told "sorry" and its a "new menu item". No "can i offer you another item" or "we'll remake them", then even though they were such a mess i couldn't eat them i still got charged in full...From now on we'll just stick to the drinks and the view.

I disagree with the poor ratings other people have left. I understand that occasionaly a waitress may have a bad day or the food may be less than perfect. But there is a lot more to a restaurant than a waitress behaviour or one dinner. Let me explain. I went to Docks a couple of times. The staff was mostly nice and food was meeting the expectation with perhaps one exception. It may have been less than perfect - but not bad at all. However, what made it a great experience was the fantastic outdoor setup - on the namesake dock overlooking the lake. Large bar in the middle was a nice addition. Beer selection was impressive and... well, it was great. You really have to be nitpicking and dishonest to slam it down like some people did. There is a lot going for this place. The view is great, the deck is impressive, food prhaps not great but certainly good and prices... well, perhaps a bit on the high side. I am giving them four stars and I am sure they deserve it.

I was part of a large group of adult professional people who visited Docks to celebrate a birthday. We called several times to set this up and were assured that there would be extra staff on hand to accommodate our group and we would be welcomed. Parking was a big problem as at 3:30 PM on a Friday their lot was already full. There is street parking in the nearby subdivision but it is necessary to cross a busy street (Route 176) to use it. Nearly all of the prime parking was taken up by "Valet" service (sorry but I dislike Valet parking) and I can only guess that the standard parking lot was filled by employee vehicles as there were not nearly as many customers as there were cars in the lot. I am sure that I speak for most of our group by saying that our experience was very poor- the manager of the day was not informed that we were expected and had not scheduled additional staff. We were generally hassled without need and treated like our business was not wanted. It was as if the management would have been happier with an empty deck area and no sales. Shockingly we were told rather rudely that the advertised food specials were "not available" in the outdoor seating area and that we would have to go to the indoor seating area if we wanted the specials. It was a beautiful evening and it was certainly not our intention to be indoors! I found it impossible to flag down a waitress for a drink order and ended up going to the tiki bar where I was waited on right away. The bartenders were friendly but were unsure of the prices of drink specials but corrected the situation right away when it was pointed out to them. I would certainly not recommend Docks to anyone planning a group event or to anyone having low tolerance for the rude and indifferent behavior as exhibited to us.

We usually bring our entire family here, and we haven't been disappointed. In the summer we love to sit outside on the Deck, and the inside is just as inviting. Portions are big and food has never disappointed us. A family fave with us.

Oh my. There's some good, some bad and some downright ugly. Dock's is located right on the lake in downtown Wauconda, so the views from the dining area of the restaurant are lovely, especially when the sun is setting. The architect did Dock's right by making sure to include HUGE picture windows overlooking the water. Gorgeous. The interior designer, however, should be shot. The place reeks of 80's décor from the overload of bachelor pad-esque black leather booths, cheesy mirrors on the walls and weird light fixtures. I'm sure if I looked hard enough I could find some black lacquered furniture somewhere. The food was good for the most part, but lacked a bit in some areas, mainly appetizers. We ordered the Docks Own Spinach & Artichoke Dip which is a blend of spinach, artichokes, mozzarella and parmesan cheese baked, then topped with diced roma tomatoes and scallions with tortilla chips. Err.. make that STALE tortilla chips. Yick. Also on deck were the Bada Bang Fries consisting of waffle fries topped with bacon, scallions and melted cheddar jack cheese, piled high and centered with jalapeno bottle caps. Served with a side of ranch dressing, not only is this dish a heart attack on a plate, but it just LOOKS kinda gross. Everything was kind of underdone and mushy. Trust me, it wasn't hard to say 'no' to diving into this mess. Luckily the entrées fared much better. My Bangs Chicken was probably the healthiest thing on the menu. Its boneless chicken breast grilled with sun-dried tomatoes, roasted shallots, artichoke heats and green beans. You get a side of garlic mashed potatoes along with it. The chicken was cooked to perfection and the veggies were seasoned well. I'm a huge fan of artichokes so I was pleased to see them live in harmony on my plate with the sun-dried tomatoes and green beans. The portion was huge, so I had plenty to take home for leftovers. The ugly part of Dock's is the service. Our waitress was inattentive, dismissive, flaky and took FOREVER to do anything. And the restaurant was NOT busy. We were dining with my two-year-old nephew. Any server worth their salt knows that tables with kids, like it or not, sometimes require some extra attention. The kiddies need their food right away, so take that order pronto! And if the kid is getting antsy at the end of the meal and we're all putting on our coats, chances are slim to none that we want dessert or coffee, so hand over the check please. My water glass was never filled, we weren't offered drink refreshers (and we all had wine, beer or champagne) and our gal was really absent the entire meal. Just not what I anticipated. Not a BAD meal, but certainly not awesome.

During the winter months they had great deals on Tuesdays ($.50 appetizers and beers). During the summer it's fun to hang out on the outdoor patio and watch the boats drive by while listening to live music. But other than those two great things, this place is average. The food is very inconsistent and the dining room is nearly always empty. The service is average at best and can sometimes be a bit rude. Perhaps that's due to the "biker bar" nature of this place... I'm not sure. Overall, it's a fun summer BAR, but not necessarily a place to eat.

I had an ok experience here, I wouldnt necessarily run back but it was ok. The view of Bangs Lake is gorgeous. We went for an early Friday dinner. Two people at my table got burgers and they looked really good and I was told they were good. I got nachos with ground beef - they were ok except they used the cheap nacho cheese you get from a concession stand in addition to a little shredded cheese. Seriously?!?! Just give me all shredded cheese - I paid like $12 and you give me that stuff. Not cool. The flavor of the meat on the nachos were good except for the cheese. The other food that was brought out of the kitchen during our stay looked pretty good. Their desserts looked decadent but we didn't have any. The major problem with Dock's is their prices, they are WAY too expensive. We had three people at our table, purchased no drinks, two burgers and nachos and the bill was almost $40. This is crazy. The cost of a pop is $2.99 - I can get a pop in the city for cheaper. The dessert that looked awesome was $10. While I would want to try the food at Docks again I probably would not because of the prices, I don't want to spend $20 on a meal that I may or may not like.

What's up Docks? Wow has the service and the food gone down (not in the bar area) but the dining area on the patio. It took 45 minutes for two sandwiches to arrive and the so-called rare tuna was overdone and tough. When I mentioned it to the hostess, she said we were the only ones to complain and that why was a portion of the sandwich eaten if we didn't like it? Docks used to be good but their success has gone to their heads! I'm going to try Lindy's next time!

Dock's has a beautiful view, and with the addition of the new deck, it's going to be a big hit for the summer. It's location in the heart of Wauconda on Bangs Lake is very easy to get to. For a sports bar type place, Dock's has a very nice menu. You will find your traditional burgers, but they also had an interesting seafood section. I was feeling a bit adventurous, so I ordered the glazed salmon. The server did recommend the dijon salmon, but said both were good. The salmon was done very well, especially considering it is a sports bar. Our server was very attentive, and there wasn't that long of a wait for food. Price was moderate, but not outside of the normal for the area. Definitely worth many return visits!

Fries were very good. Burger was completely burnt/charred. It was awful, all I could taste was the char. They seated us even though they were closing and the server was super friendly. The outdoor deck is huge, even though it gets packed, you can usually still find a seat. Very long tiki bar. Beautiful setting by the lake.

Great place to hang out and have a beer, showed up tuesday night with about 16 other people after a motorcycle cruise, staff was very accomodating, and they had great beers on tap. They made the group feel very welcome which is not always the case when a restaurant sees 15+ people pull up on motorcycles. Patio setup is perfect and they had the blackhawks game on the TV. Food was pretty good too, although I only tried the nachos and calamari. Will definitely go back if I find myself up that way again.

I am completely shocked and saddened to see that Dock's only has an average of 2.5 stars! This place is one of my favorite restaurants. It has a great modern atmosphere and a wonderful location being right on Bangs Lake. The service has always been fine, no complaints. I've never had a bad meal at Dock's. Lately, I have been ordering the appetizer of grilled calamari as my meal. Frankly, any place that serves GRILLED calamari will automatically be written up in my book as one of my favorite places. Yet another food obsession of mine. Truly, Dock's calamari is soooo delicious. It comes in this flavorful marinade-not-really-a-sauce-kind-of-thing and is always so fresh tasting and perfectly cooked, not notoriously rubbery as most other attempts at a good grilled calamari dish are. I love Docks.

After reading the reviews here, I was a little nervous for a business lunch at Docks. I was pleasantly surprised! The waitress was friendly and attentive, the busboy was at our table often. I had a tilapia with mushroom, asparagus and sun dried tomatoes. My meal was very good, although a little shy on the veggies. I would get it again though, the fish was cooked nicely. The molten chocolate cake was tasty and the icecream that accompanied it was fantastic. Also tried the Key Lime Pie and was not a fan. The decor was beautiful and modern in the room we were seated, can't beat the view over the lake too.

The only reason they get three stars is because they have a great patio. The service is sub-par and they won't make any changes to your order. I wanted to order a veggie wrap, which wasn't on the menu, and they wouldn't do it. Although they have tons of other wraps, they said that they wouldn't make any changes. My friend also has a severe nut allergy and when she told the server, she rolled her eyes. Wouldn't go back!!!

Positives - Food is good an the prices are fair. View of the lake is quite nice. I really like the dinning area. There are TV's on all the walls that display images art and intermittently change while you are there. I have gone there many many times and never had bad service even once. Dock's is a nice getaway from the standard fair in the area. Negative - Parking. This can be a REAL hassle at busy times. At peak times the cars trying to get in to the Dock's parking lot spill out on to 176 holding up traffic. They do have Valet at busy times.

The only thing they have going is their location. The food is well below mediocre and most importantly the people working there are rude assholes. I'd rather eat week old Taco Bell served in a crusty sweat sock than go to this place masquerading as a restaurant.

Great atmosphere, still can smell the new wood from the HUGE deck they build. I liked what I ordered however my mom ordered the fish and didn't like it. It had a heavy sauce ontop and it was a very light fish. Overall, I'd go back but stick to the sandwiches, no entrees.

Perhaps one of the nicer places I've been , not the fanciest place, but right off the water and very scenic here. The menu has a nice mix of bar bites and fancier fare, from sandwiches to crab cakes. We went here for lunch, so I settled in on the French onion soup, which was good, not all that impressive. The Prime rib sandwich on the other hand was great. I didn't even have to use the au jus dip because I found it juicy enough. I did get a bite of my mom's grilled cheese with bacon, and wow was it great. As impressed as I was with the food here, the prices were equally high, disturbingly so. Having always been someone that will pay for good food, I can't take too many points away for being overpriced. So we even out at around 4 stars, a great place I would readily go back to.

Wow!, what a great lunch time getaway. Dining on the deck at Dock's is like you are on a vacation far away from home. I Had a great lunch that was one of the lunch specials. New york strip steak grilled to perfection along with mashed potatoes and broccoli for 8.95. total bill was new york strip, tilapia fillet, and 2 iced teas for a 23.97 lunch. Definitely the place to be on bangs lake.

Against my better judgement we went to Docks last night for dinner and to watch the band. I have been there before and was treated rudely so I was apprehensive about going back. However it was a friends birthday and a bunch of us were going. Sure enough as soon as we sat at the bar to order a drink the bartender was rude to my husband who just asked her a question about the addition of the garage door that they installed in the bar area.. Some people who we met there said she is always like that, just rude. They were there in the summer and gave them some attitude. Really???? Get rid of her!!! Now there were a number of people who were trying to get drinks who were standing behind me. Commenting that she always takes forever to get her attention. Another couple said this is ridulious what's taking her so long??? So, I tried to get the bartenders attention so they could get served. She told me not to do that because this is her job and she can handle it!!! She wasn't pleasant about it either! Apparently she wasn't handling it if people were commenting on her skills. She's cute I'll give her that however her people skills SUCK. If that was my restaurant she would be gone a long time ago. Food, not that great. I'd pass. I read the other reveiws and was surprised I wasn't the only one who thinks the service stinks.Yet these people still work there. There a plenty of people who are out of work and would love to have a job and would be pleasant to deal with.

This place is so over rated and their food is average at best. And the tiki bar is only representative of a tropical tiki bar because the sign says Tiki Bar. Please if you are a Tiki bar two sad little Palm Trees does not make a Tiki Bar. Lacks Tiki Decor. It does have a Lake to view but in the area is lots of other restaurants that have the same view with better service, nicer servers, better food and better prices. Way over rated and the service is horrible.

I never went to Dock's when it was Mer's, but I did go to it when it was Biloxi. OMG. That place was great. Upscale southern food. The plantation chicken was to die for. Now Docks....Dock's is really good at some things, not so good at others. Their service leaves a lot to be desired. Me and my husband went there on April 30, my birthday. We went through the front of the restaurant, were acknowledged by the hostess, and seated on the deck. That's the last we saw of anyone for 30 minutes, until I went back to the front desk and reminded the hostess that we were out there. The food is great, but very pricey. They really need to get that under control. There are no vegetarian options on their menu. They need to address that. And if they're going to charge premium prices for entrees, then I need to see premium quality and imagination in those entrees. In short, this is a restaurant that can't make up it's mind as to what it's going to be. A burger joint? Or a fine dining place?

Went here for a birthday party on Saturday. We had a large group, and they have a large outdoor tiki bar overlooking the lake. Sounded great in theory, considering we were convinced they had propane heating lamps. Once the sun went down it was FUH-REEZING and they wouldn't take out the heating lamps because it wasn't summer yet...or something. Didn't make any sense. BUT--the food was superb. French onion soup, philly cheesesteak sandwich, pear brie--all wonderful. The drinks were STIFF and *cheap*. They had a live band and although they were nothing to write home about live entertainment's always fun.

Nice place, decent food, tables had a nasty oily film on them, the waitress was rude and acted like I was over reacting when I asked to move to a table that wasn't covered in furniture polish. Kind of an awkward place to eat, really. You walk in and think it's some fancy place just by the looks of it, but then you notice that it's just regular bar food. Wouldn't go back.

My husband and I have been here several times in the last year and the food is consistently good. Everything we've tried has been tasty, although a bit overpriced. Great for hanging out on the patio during nice weather. Laid back but fun atmosphere with the outdoor bar and deck overlooking the lake. Food and drinks are reasonably priced; very large portions. The nachos appetizer could feed a football team. Great summer spot!

You must come here this summer. I read the reviews, mediocre food. Went here more out of curiosity than anything else. What a find! First off, the food was good, with a great menu to choose from. Maybe I had very low expectations, but I thought the food was above average for a bar. Lot's of choices and lot's of healthy choices. You will not be disappointed by the menu. But that doesn't matter. The outdoor area is built on a deck about a quarter acre overlooking Wauconda Lake. Absolutely breasthtaking views. We had an hour wait but loved it. Grabbed a drink and enjoyed the sun starting to set over the lake. You will feel like you are on vacation, no doubt. Great music, great atmosphere, great views. Definitely worth the drive. Try it, you will like it, and you will thank me, gauranteed.

enjoyed lunch with some girlfriends on saturday. i'd love to come back in nicer weather and sit outside...when the ice fisherman leave haha. food was pretty standard bar fare, drink specials were decent for a saturday ($3 corona/corona lite, $5 mai tais), atmophere was nice. the only problem was the service. the place was almost empty and our lunch took just under 2 hours. not acceptable. the waitress was pleasant enough, but it just took too long for the food to get out. i'd go back but likely for drinks on the dock - not a full dinner in the "restaurant side" of the business.

If you're coming to Dock's, you need to consider whether you're coming for dinner or drinks. I'll give both reviews. Dinner - Very nice place indoors. Food isn't cheap. Service is fairly slow when they are busy. Food tastes good, but you can get better food for the price elsewhere. Outdoors - Nice tiki bar area overlooking the lake. Service is also slow. Drinks - Choice between drinking outside at Tiki Bar or inside at regular bar. Drinks are pricey for a suburban bar. Dock's draws the wealthy suburban crowd, so this is to be expected. Great location overlooking the lake. One nice thing is Free valet parking everyday. This is a place I do go to fairly often because it's nearby and a great outdoor bar during the summer. But there are downsides.

From the bites of soup and appetizer it was good. But this was my first time dining there and I can say I will never dine there again. We had a waiter who didnt have menu knowledge and was never around where we had to ask for refills with a full drink next to us because we didnt know when we would see him again. When we ordered the drinks we ordered soup that was brought after we reminded him. We ordered an appetizer and sat with an empty table for a long time even though our food was ordered with the app. With it being before dinner rush we knew we would be able to get in and out. But that wasnt the case. Part of our party had to leave while we sat waiting. We talked to a manager who was unbelievely rude and would end the conversation walking away. With a table full of people who have been in the food service industry I was very very disappointed with the way the manager handled things. Finally had to wrap our dinner up to go. I'll see if my entree is any good.

I dined here in the spring and it was so beautiful. Dining outside with the lakeside view was the most pleasant experience, you feel like you are on vacation somewhere. The food is ok, but not as memorable as the atmosphere. The waitress seemed to be forcing kindness on us. When I asked for a refill she made sure I know they only give 1 refill. How generous. I'd go back just for the experience of dinning on the beautiful deck on the lake.

Soo, Dock's, went back after not going there for about a year. The weather was really nice outside, so my friend and I sat outside on their large deck. Service was too slow. I'm not sure if they are just understaffed or their staff is just not properly trained. I had the Black & Blue burger which I asked for med rare and came well done. I was too hungry to wait another 20 minutes for a new burger. Other than that, the burger was really good :) My friend had the South of The Borger Burger which looked Awesome! It has Monterey Jack Cheese, Sour Cream, Guacamole & Jalapeno Bottle Caps. I've had that burger before and it's definitely my favorite! *Dock's has live music and karaoke 3 or 4 days a week, so the bar area is good for that. They have a few high top tables & half booth tables in the bar side. The outside is the best part during the summer time. There's an actual tiki bar overlooking Bangs Lake. Obviously, it's not helpful in winter :) I like this place & will be going alot more since the weather is getting nice out again!

I've been to Dock's once and I was quite pleased. I moved from the city to the burbs and was worried about finding good non-diner type restraurants. The food my husband and I had was really good and the service was good, too. I will definitely be back to this place.

After my third visit to Docks, I had to write a review. I never write negative reviews, but this time, I had no choice. On my first visit, I ordered a burger and it was cold. I told them and it took them so long to warm it up, my dates dinner was cold. They offfered to warm it, but we didn't bother. Not other gestures were made. On the second visit, I ordered the ribs, and was sick that whole night afterward. I took it as as cooincidence until my last vist. This time, my date ordered a chicken dish. While she was eating it, she said it tastes raw. She cut through it more, and found out she was indeed eating raw chicken. They replaced the dish, but again, but that time, my food was cold. They also offered her meal for free, which was moot as I already had a 2 for 1 coupon. They offered no other gesture of apology. Also, as raw chicken is so dangerous, you would have thought they would have taken this more seriously. They treated it as nothing more than a cold dish they needed to warm up. So, needless to say, i would never got there again. And, I just found out a friend of mine also received food poisoning from this place. I hate to write this review, I really do, but this time, I felt I had no choice.

My husband and I went there recently. After almost 1 hr of waiting for a salad and BLT, I went up to the male hostess and kindly asked how much longer before we would receive our meal. Note: during this hr not once did our waitress ck to see if we needed another drink. The male hostess absolutely hopped all over me and told me "we'll can't you see we are busy?" OMG - I have never been treated so rude and he felt fully justified in treating me so disrespectful. We will never go back - service to horrid - the male hostess is unbelievably rude and arrogant.
