We went to this Olive Garden after reading some negative reviews because it's still Olive Garden. Unlike what we read, we had exceptional service from Ann. We were met with a smile and seated right away and our waitress, Ann, came right over to greet us and tell us about the specials. The food was good. Hot, fresh and quick. Our waitress even brought all of us a second glass if soda each and told us that she didn't know if she wouldn't be busy later when we may have needed refills. I thought that was really nice. She even brought my son a frozen dessert because he didn't want to eat it at the restaurant and she told us frozen would ensure it doesn't melt before we get home to put it in the fridge. I'm giving this place the highest rating based on the food met expectations however , the service far exceeded them. I don't mean to be corny but we were treated like family. If I'm ever in the area again, I would definitely return to this restaurant. Great job Ann. I wish you were at every restaurant I ever visit.

I will not go into to much detail, I am sure if you are reading this you have likely been to at least one olive garden; or at the very least seen one of their commercials, so you have an idea of what you are in for. They have the same menu as every other olive garden and the food is the same as well; in short this is not a renegade olive garden serving burgers and BBQ (which actually might be pretty awesome) so that will leaves us to discuss the service and atmosphere. I have been here three times and every time the servers and every member of the staff were great. The Chef even made his way around one night and was pleasantly delightful at every table he visited. SO why four stars you might ask. Olive Garden is still Olive Garden the food and flavor is a little bland and watered down as to appeal to the masses, that being said if you are looking for an Italian restaurant in the area you will not find many alternatives aside from Lou's LaGratto. If you like consistency in your food and great service stop on in; if you up for Yelp life changing adventure surf the app a little bit this area has a lot to offer in chain and local flavor.

We planned a stop to this restaurant into our summer vacation. I have only been to one other Olive Garden in Oswego, IL. We walked in and asked for Gluten Free menu's. They probably don't have many gluten free customers because the menu's were still wrapped in plastic. It would have been nice for them to be prepared for gluten free customers. They also have a very small gluten free menu as compared to other restaurants. They do warn the there gluten free options are only "gluten sensitive" because they can't prevent cross contamination. I feel that is a risk at any restaurant in general. The only complaint I have about out waiter (Evan S.) was that he offered soup and other gluten containing options to the gluten free customers in our party. Other than that he was amazing and his tip reflected that. He was overly kind and apologetic for things that weren't his fault. The gluten free pasta with meat sauce was delicious and perfectly cooked. The grilled chicken caesar salad was also delicious. The Tour of Italy Chicken Lombardy Tour did make a person in our party sick later that evening. The child's chicken fingers were very good. I asked and they used to but no longer accept expired coupons.

God this place sucks. Never seen so many seed hats and bib overalls outside of HeeHAw. Slooooow service from some teen girl bereft of waitress skills. Breadsticks that quickly lost their microwaved warmth and turned to rubber, warm salad with less dressing than a hooker, and the most bland and tasteless stuffed pasta imaginable. If this is what they claim is their makeover, they are doomed. The country bumpkin clientele, staff, and corporation has no clue what decent Italian food should be. Stay on I-80 and keep going.

Service was way off last night. Ordered appetizers and told him to not have dinner come out right after. And it happened, apps came then immediately the entrees. Waited for refills, waited for cleanup, waited for check. Pass on this place.

I was kind of hesitant coming over since their rating wasn't that great. What a nice surprise, the service is awesome and the is delicious. OG is the place and you definitely need to try it out.

There are a few reasons for eating at Olive Gardens. Location and convenience are the only reasons I can think of. They are consistently poor places to eat pasta, the seafood is worse or the same quality as Red Lobster, and whoever came up with the bread sticks should be working at Duncan Doughnuts. The kids that wait tables are the shining stars of the operation. Must be enough table turnover to make a pocket full of tips. When we are on the road, the Old Lady and I might have a salad and soup, and maybe a glass of the house red. The rest of the menu is seriously over priced, and most times over salted, and/or over cooked. If you can take the time to find a Mom and Pop, you'll enjoy better Italian food, but sometimes you can't, and that's when we stop at Olive Garden. On the other hand, overpriced slop in a food court atmosphere appeals to lots of folks, so if that's the case belly up to the bar and strap on the old feed bag!

Terrible... The service was not bad, but the food is garbage. It tastes like it sat in a plastic bag, cooked in the microwave then put on a plate. My wife makes way better pasta. Olive Garden is very over rated.

I usually love eating at the Olive Garden but I couldn't give this place 5 stars because they don't have the best service and their food is not always consistent. Some of their food is really good but there was one seafood dish on the $12.95 menu that was really bad. There was way too much butter and it was gross and I ended up shaking and wiping off the butter when I ate the rest of it the next day. It is just horrible to have to shake butter off of your pasta as you are trying to eat it. Also the people who work up front here are slow to seat you even if the place is empty. I have eaten at Olive Garden restaurants a lot in Peoria, Fox Valley, and Oswego and when they are not busy, the hostess will bring you over to a table right away. Well at this place they still make you wait a little bit and it is ridiculous. They really need to hire some people who know how a restaurant works. I am going to try it a few more times and if they don't improve, then I am just going to go to Red Lobster because I always get excellent service there and the food is always fantastic. This place is just pretty bad for a chain restaurant. Hopefully they read some of these reviews and get on fixing their service and food consistency.

I'm on the road and on a diet. I thought I would give some of the restaurants I've long ago given up on, to see how their new diet friendly selections pare up. Until my parents passed away many years ago, I would only eat at an Olive Garden at their request. It was a favorite of theirs. So here I am, chowing down in Peru, IL on an Olive Garden Seafood Brodetto and their endless salad. With the first bite of the salad, I'm taken back to the memories of why I would only eat in an Olive Garden in deference to my parents preferences. Limp iceburg lettuce and canned olives are the first thing that comes to mind. Tasteless, is the first thought that leaps out when I dig into the Brodetto, quickly replaced with the flavor of melted lemon jello and a hint of artificial sweetener to describe the sauce. The miniature shrimps and absolutely bland fish rounded out my displeasure. A few mouthfuls and I was done. When the very pleasant young waitress asked if I wanted a doggie bag. I chuckled and thought to myself, "even if I had a dog, I wouldn't feed him this slop". "You didn't like it?" she asked in a somewhat surprised tone. I was restrained and polite and just indicated with a scrunchy negative frown, my displeasure. Apologetically, she withdrew and went right to the hostess who was at my table in a New York minute. More apologies ensued. She said, "Of course you don't have to pay for this meal and here is a gift certificate for your next visit." I certainly can't fault the wait staff for unsavory food. The next day, the gift certificate was gratefully accepted by one of my local clients.

This place sucked. Food came out quick but was garbage... You could tell our server was stoned out of her mind and could care less about her job. Just seemed like no one really cared. They did have a manager who was walking around checking tables to see how everything was going and she did seem like she at least cared about the customers a little bit. I just don't get why they keep some of these servers working for them. It was obvious the lady serving my table was high and wasn't attentive to her tables. I don't know why they would keep a person like that around.

Not sure why all the bad reviews. We stopped while in Peru during the week for lunch. It was not crowded but again Peru is not exactly Schaumburg. We both ordered off the $12.95 menu and were not disappointed. I had the shrimp Penne and hubby had a chicken dish. Salad was fresh but only flaw was that there were too many onions and needed more greens. Would definitely go back.

Typical Olive Garden. You know the menu. We go there mainly for the soup and salad. Ok, maybe the salad dressing. Nevertheless, you know the restaurant menu. We went for dinner right at rush hour. Waited for 30 minutes before being seated. There was a gal with wine samples to try while we waited. I thought this was a plus to help kill the time. Angel seated us and our server was very polite. Rushed, but polite. The soup was hot and salad plentiful. My son tried one of each soup. They were all hot and he enjoyed them all. Breadsticks can make or break the meal as well. These were warm and soft. Excellent. We like this restaurant and recommend it for a night with friends or bringing the kids to pig out. Staff have always been friendly and welcoming.

Beautiful facility, people, but not one Olive Gardens better restaurants. The waitress was good. To be specific, we've had problems with OG's at other places, BUT one could always depend upon (1) great soup, (2) great salad, & (3) great breadsticks. The minestrone soup was a pile of beans, with a sprinkling of other veggies, & little broth. One of our group pointed out the condition of the "soup," & she brought a bowl of broth, & took the veggies. ("To hell" with the rest of us.) The salad was basically lettuce & onion, with little dressing. (3) The breadsticks were eatable, but basically void of butter. WE TRIED THEM, but they don't try !!!

I chose Olive Garden this evening for dinner because it is my fiancé's go to place when I want to get on her good side :) We are new parents with a 3 month old and we hardly get a moment to dine out. We were pleasantly greeted at the hostess station and waited just a short moment while a table was prepped for us. Our request for not being placed in the back (kids zone) was approved and we reached our table. We waited over fifteen minutes without being greeted and noticed another table in our section get their drinks (seated after us). I was set on gathering our things and choosing a different place for dinner; however, my better half wanted to stay and tough it out. Angel came to our rescue and apologized for the absence of service. She was very caring and wanted us to have a great dining experience. She offered to comp our entire meal and I was still a bit apprehensive. She ensured us that we will enjoy our time at Olive Garden and we chose to stay. I'm happy we did because I've never received the attention and positive attitude at a restaurant (in the Illinois Valley) like I received tonight. Mandy also came to our table and apologized. She reinforced what Angel had mentioned and helped to provide a positive outcome to what was almost a bad experience. We will continue to visit Olive Garden of Peru because we know that generally it is a great time. The food is consistently delicious and the drinks never disappoint. Management ensures their guests are taken care of. Thank you Angel and Mandy. I do recommend the Sangarita. If possible, request Angel to make it. You will not be disappointed.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
