For those who complained about the service, I think they've solved that problem. A co-worker and I went to Taboun for lunch on a Friday afternoon. The dining room was about half full. Our server was very friendly and attentive. The beets and pickles were a great starter and the order of falafel we split was delicious. No meat products were available on this particular day, but the Israeli salad and veggie pita my coworker ordered and the salmon pita I ordered were wonderful. It was the best pita bread I'd ever had. Highly recommended!

Pretty expensive and the food was barely okay. Went with a group of ladies and no one was planning to go back there again.

Wasnt aware of this place until I was invited there for lunch today. I liked the food! Can get overly expensive, if not for lunch specials. Service is adequate, it is not fine dining establishment. Both kefta and shawarma entrees were very good, and so was soup. So filling though. The only item I didnt like was Turkish coffee. Large cup, abd didnt taste like real Turkish coffee. Usually it is much stronger and flavorful. Recommend to try it.

I was so excited when this place opened as I love this type of cusine and don't have many local options. When I walked in I was greeted by a waitress, and requested to place a takeout order. I ordered a beef kebab plate with 2 sides which cost $29.00. The waitress took my credit card printed out my receipt for me to sign, left it on the counter and then proceeded to sit down at a table to chat with another waitress. I assume someone was going to cook my meal and in a few minutes a Hispanic gentleman came out from the back began to cook my food. I was completely grossed out when he proceeded to comb his hair with his hands and the started touching the insides of the containers that my food was placed into. After getting past the hygiene issues, the beef was quite salty; it tasted ok but was definitely not worth price as it contained quite a lot of gristle. Their Jerusalem salad was bland and had little to no seasonings or dressing and was basically just chopped up vegetables. The pita was the best part of the meal as it was fresh and pufffy. I really wanted to like this place, but the high prices, poor hygiene of the cook, and lower quality of beef makes this a 1 star in my book.

Great food- loved the Hummus and Lafa. Would have given 5 stars but for 2 of us with an order of hummus, 2 sandwiches and waters, the total cost of $380 a bit high in my opinion.

We LOVE Tauboon, great, fresh Mediterranean Food. They make the falafels to order which makes a huge difference from places that have them cooked and under a heater. Best hummus and pita. Everything is delicious and the kids love it. It's Kosher as well which is a good option for those that need it.

Just tried the new location of Taboun Grill in Northbrook. We've dined at the Skokie location a number of times and before that in West Rogers Park. From our experience, the other locations can be very crowded and noisy. Same hardwood floors and open environment at this location - nice look but it could get noisy. Fortunately, we visited over a quiet lunch time. There's a lot of competition showing up in the area for Israeli/Middle Eastern cuisine - some kosher and some not. Naf Naf Grill has many locations (not kosher) and Mizrahi (kosher) are local competitors. Taboun is the only option with table service. The free "salad' plate of beets and pickles was nice and took the edge off of our hunger. We tried the schwarma and kefta sandwich. Both were good and filled to the brim stuffed in a fresh pita. My wife would have preferred lamb schwarma over chicken, but that's just personal preference. I'd like to see some hot sauce (aka schug) on the table. Overall, fresh and tasty. We tried the creme cake dessert which was tasty, even though non-dairy, although at $6, we found it a bit pricey relative to the other items. The Turkish coffee was good although I expected a serving in a espresso-sized cup and not a diner cup. I would ask patrons for the option of size. Generally, Turkish (aka Armenian) coffee is a strong, sweet small cup. As others have noted, the service is not as crisp as one might expect. All friendly but not quite up to snuff for sit down vs counter service. Hopefully, they will tighten things up with experience. Food is a 4+ but service was a 3+ so I'll rate Taboun this visit with 4 stars.

I ordered a schawarma on laffa which was pretty good. The service was a disaster - it's somewhere in the middle between dine-in and take-out, but not clearly one or the other. The waitresses were just as confused as we were.

Great food! we loved their skirt steak pita! Wait staff still looks a bit lost, but the place just opened up, so I hope they will get it all figured out soon.

Price is ridiculous! The food is good, not great and they are literally double, if not triple, their competitor's prices. Sure kosher meats are more expensive but not that much!

The hummus with mushroom/onion was absolutely delicious. Really enjoyed the shawarma pita sandwich as well. Would recommend.

We were warmly greeted by hostess. The food came out quickly and warm and looked very nice. The restaurant was very clean and quiet. Shawarma lunch special-$9!
