They no longer serve the awesome chocolate cake. WTF.

I have to take Truth to task after a vist last night, because we had pretty poor service, which soured what would have been an otherwise enjoyable meal. I went there with my dad for an early dinner -- 5 pm, ok? He hadn't had lunch, and I was hungry too. There were two tables full in the place (a long one with about ten people, including several kids, and a 4-top), and the hostess stuck us in between them, then took off before we could ask if there might be another place to sit (my dad's back was right at the elbow of one diner at the smaller table). We had to ask our waitress instead, who made her displeasure known, though she did find us another place (not hard -- the restaurant was EMPTY!), though was a bit snippy for the first half of the meal. I think she realized as time went on that we weren't pleased, because she eventually thawed a bit (probably in fear of her tip), but by then the tone had been established. While we were waiting for our meal, a busboy came out and plunked two wine flutes in front of us. My dad said, "What are these for?" as we hadn't ordered champagne etc. The boy said, "Uh, I don't know, she [the hostess] just told me to put them here." Okay....They sat there for a while; when our waitress came by Dad asked her what the deal was, and she had no idea, so thus began a flurry of questioning the busboy, the hostess, and so forth. It finally came out that he was supposed to take the same number of glasses as our table's designated number somewhere, and he messed it up. Um, okay. She then whisked the glasses away. Hope she knew that I rubbed the rim of one with my finger to get an errant lipstick smudge that the dishwasher had missed. Overall, an awkward episode. The food itself was excellent; my previous review still stands on this aspect. I had a filet, which was perfect; it came with mashed potatoes, which could have used some oomph, and didn't even come with any butter (we still had some left from the fabulous Milano bread, so I used that), and al dente green beans. Dad had pot roast, which was about three servings' worth, and sent up tendrils of steam like dragon's breath throughout the meal -- no need for a warmed plate, clearly. Despite the wonderful food, the service on this occasion really left me cold. Even something like getting "water with lemon" seemed to be a problem -- I ordered it that way when she took drink orders at the beginning, got plain water; when she asked if we needed anything later I asked for lemon for the water and finally got it partway through my steak. It's the little things, as they say. And again, it's not like the place was mobbed, so the details might fall through the cracks -- no one was in the place at the time. I have only nice things to say about the girl who brought the bread, took plates, brought refills, however; she was polite and definitely on her game. Everyone else could have taken a lesson. We will probably be back, as this is one of the better dining options in the SW suburbs, but Truth truly needs to up the game on hospitality.

C'mon, Yelpers! This place deserves a break. It's a veritable OASIS in the culinary desert known as Joliet, IL. Nicely prepared comfort food with a creative twist at decent prices. Attentive service and quirky decor make it a relaxing evening out. And it really made me proud to see artwork from the local Junior High School displayed on the walls. After having worked here for 10 years, trust me, you won't do better in this town. Give it a try!

Prices are probably too high for Joliet, but Truth's food is excellent. I always get their specials. Also, make sure you try their au gratin potatoes! Menu is not very kid friendly.

Great food, awesome service! The wine list was very inexpensive and filled with wonderful selections. What a surprising find... we will be back the next time we are in town for races at Autobahn Country Club.

I have only been here 3 times, all at lunchtime. The first, was for a work christmas party where we had the whole place to ourselves. I had the filet with mashed potatoes which was amazing. The other two times I had the chicken piccata which was really delicious. It's the usual pressed chicken with angel hair and capers, but the sauce is what makes it so amazing. The desserts are also awesome. I've had the chocolate and carrot cake, and the pieces were humongous and yummy. Would definitely return again

Came here to watch my daughter's violin teacher play in the 3 piece band on Thursday night. The music was great! The atmosphere was also nice and cozy feeling. I'm mid thirties and my wife and I were the youngest people in the place by at least 15 years. Like a retirees convention or something inside the place. The food was mediocre at best, it was served hot and nicely but the fact is it lacked any creativity or flavor. it's all basic cisco foods delivery that they cook up. Nothing high quality about the food but we will go back for the music and cocktails.

I LOVE the food here. What a hidden gem in Joliet! The ambiance is very nice, and the food...delicious!! I am a stickler for the details. The salad was fresh, crisp and cold lettuce, the pasta was cooked and seasoned to perfection. In the end, it's all about the food, and the Truth understands this clearly. Great food!! Only recommendation, make sure the red-wine is served nearer to the ideal 57-degrees, as it seemed a little closer to room temp and an informed patron will find this a little bothersome. Other than that, superb!

Lunch trio is a great option for the area. $15 for soup, salad and half a sandwich hit the spot

This is my favorite restaurant in Joliet and I can't believe I haven't done a review yet! I've been here for bridal showers, lunches, dinners and my parents had my brother's communion here years ago. Menu changes with the seasons so sometimes my favorites are gone, but this time around we got the meatballs (ok), the grilled chicken flatbread (very good) and the stuffed mushrooms (I don't eat mushrooms but my mom loved them). My favorite appetizer is the chicken or lobster pastry puffs. MMM! I always get the house salad to start and I love it-the ranch is good and the crispy onions on top are a great addition. My favorite here is the fried lobster. I like to get it with the green beans and the cheesy potatoes. However, the filet is always very good and I like the pot roast as well. I will say, their dessert options are limited and we almost never get it here. They are a smaller, local business so sometimes they do run out of items as well. They recently remodeled though and it looks really nice. Service is always good as well.

Nice experience on 9-12-15. Fried green tomatoes as an appetizer were excellent. I had the filet that was cooked perfectly medium rare as ordered. $34 with potatoes and green beans. It was a notch below Gibsons or Mortons but much. Wife had pot roast which was solid. Pot roast doesn't do much for me but it was fine. Desert of apple tart was very good too. Total bill was around $100 including 4 drinks. Big pours on the wine too. I'd recommend.

I really enjoyed my dinner at Truth a few weeks ago and it's not just because of the company that I was with (Angela P.) I was served some truly tasty food that won't soon be forgotten. Although I originally came for the Lobster Mac and Cheese, I saw the Cannelloni with Champagne sauce and my heart pitter pattered. About 5 years ago I had some crab cakes with champagne sauce and I still can't get them out of my head. I was hoping to recreate that moment with the cannelloni. I started with the soup du jour which was mushroom and artichoke. It was very creamy and tasty, although it could have used a little seasoning. My canneoloni was delicious and had a generous portion of seafood, but it sadly wasn't enough to fill me up all the way. I was still a little hungry even with 2 pieces of bread, the cannelloni and soup. Angela was nice enough to let me try a few bites of her lobster mac and cheese and this is a dish I would come back for. It had a little bit of a kick and was a huge portion. We also had great service. You can tell this is a family owned business, because we had a few different people stop by our table. I love when businesses do this and make sure that you enjoy everything.. and we DID enjoy everything. Thank you, Truth.

Lunch take 2... More of the same. Coooooold restaurant and waited 5 min to be seated. Three tables full @ 12:45 on a Wed. Food quality was adequate, but not great. Service good. I fear for truth.... They don't seem to have that tenacity to make it in the future.

I have tried to take my husband there 4 times and each time they were closed for private party with no notice on the door or had changed their hours. This last time we arrived at 4:30 and the doors were locked. So they opened at 5 and we came back at 5:30 and a note was now on the door closed for private party. The owner was out back and lied to us saying the note had been posted all afternoon. We know it was not since i went up to the door to see if it was open. They were not pleasant and we will never be back there again. We wasted an hour of our time. I would not recommend this place just due to the attitude of theowner and not being more considerate of a new customer.

I love this place! The food is great, and interesting. The decor is unique, with mismatched plates and chairs. There are several beautiful paintings adorning the walls, my favorite a solitary red stuffed chair- I'm not sure why, but I like it. A great choice for a romantic dinner, complete with candlelight and excellent, yet unobtrusive service. I had the crab cake appetizer and fried lobster tail for my entree, both were delicious. They have specials that are out of the ordinary and worth trying. A true gem, but be prepared to wait on the weekends, and the small bar may not have a seat to let you do so comfortably.

Great food and staff. One of the best restaurants in town. They get crowded on the weekends, so reservations might be a good idea.

I had purchased a Restaurant.com coupon for Truth over 3 years ago and never used it. I finally had the opportunity to meet a friend for dinner in the area and we decided to come here. I REALLY enjoyed almost every aspect of Truth. We met at the small bar just as you walk in the door and had a drink - nicely poured cocktails served by an efficient bartender. Once we were ready to sit down - the hostess greeted us warmly and brought us to our table along the wall. The place is comfortable with ample space between tables but with a cozy feel. I would describe it as 'understated' - the kind of ambiance that would be appropriate for a casual weeknight dinner or a celebration or special occasion. We settled in to scan the extensive menu. My friend asked for some guidance about her wine choice and our waitress was no help at all. She didn't know enough to make a recommendation and frankly, had the attitude that she didn't care to. She did manage to take our order, serve our food and get our order right so I had no complaints about the technical aspects of her service but she added nothing, and in fact detracted a star from what could have been a 5 star experience at Truth. We started off by splitting the Wedge Salad which was excellent...more like a half a head of lettuce covered in creamy blue cheese dressing and fresh tomatoes. Our dinners arrive - my friend ordered one of the steak options and I ordered the Pot Roast - based on a recommendation from her husband. The Pot Roast was amazing!! A huge portion of 'fall-apart' meat on top of a bed of delicious mashed potatoes and carrots (slightly too many carrots for my taste but they were good). I savored every bite and brought almost half of it home and it was just as delicious the next day. My friend also enjoyed her meal. I thought the portions were huge and reasonably priced - any place where you get quality like this and a great value for your money is worth a trip. Unfortunately, our server brought our check over before I was able to tell her I had a coupon - this might explain her reaction but the coupon was on my phone app and when I showed it to her she said "just write down the information and the phone number to Restaurant.com and I'll have to call it in" - I explained that the instructions on the coupon say to show your phone to the server and I didn't see a phone number for Restaurant.com - she replied "I don't have my glasses on, can't see it so just write it down." Not a great inconvenience, just another example of type of service we had on this evening. My hope is that this was an off night for her and her normal demeanor conveys an eagerness to serve and make the guest's experience a great one. All in all - I"m absolutely thrilled with our choice to visit Truth and can't wait to go back.

No ma'am this place is nothing special. I ordered the pot roast which came very cold for some reason. I didn't return it as I know not to return food to a restaurant. Too many movies maybe. Place was over priced and the carpet needs cleaning. Step it up.

First time at Truth. Great wine and drinks - healthy pours! Salads are large and fresh - excellent Balsamic dressing. My group all had pasta dishes and we were three for three. Ravioli, chicken piccata, and orecchiette with tilapia were all very good. Terry was a great server and it was nice to see how the wait staff all helped each other out. Would definitely come back if I was in the area.

The truth about TRUTH: The food is...delicious. I read about lobster macaroni & cheese, quickly bookmarked this business listing, and even more quickly did I forget why I wanted to go to TRUTH in the first place. My friend Courtney C was perusing the listing as we decided where to go to dinner and said, "lobster mac & cheese? I'm in." For $16 you get a very large portion of rotini noodles in a savory and slightly spicy cheese sauce, chunks of lobster, and garnished with green onions and again, melty cheese. I also tried a cup of their soup of the day: cream of mushroom and artichoke. This soup was amazing. I was tempted to go back into the kitchen and ladle it straight from the pot into my mouth. The menu is...varied. Pastas, sandwiches, burgers - they have a little of everything. My friend had a cannelloni dish, and she really liked it but the portion was super small considering it was about the same price as my entrée. I'm not a wine snob, but the wine list was a little disappointing - Woodbridge Moscato and Kim Crawford? I'll stick with water. The dessert menu was okay, but we decided to go to Home Cut Donuts directly across the street instead. The ambience is...confused. Joliet doesn't have a real "downtown" area of charming boutiques and cafes, but at the corner of Raynor and Jefferson, TRUTH stands out like an oasis. It looks a little moody and romantic from the outside, and the inside is cozy and relaxed with bistro touches like linen table cloths and wide windows along the entire north wall. I liked the modern paintings on the walls, they gave the place an eclectic, gallery-like feel, but it needs some work. Some of the artwork was tacky, like framed prints my mom would've bought at a flea market in 1990. Sorry mom. The service is...good. Our waitress was attentive but not overly friendly or overbearing. The clientele is...mixed, but mostly an older set. The couple next to us celebrated a 70th birthday, and most groups in the restaurant (on a Tuesday evening) also appeared to be in their early 50s and older. There were also a few people seated at the bar who appeared to be locals. There aren't a lot of fancy places in Joliet, it's mostly fast food chains and sub-par diners and pseudo steakhouses, so it appears to me that TRUTH is regarded as a special occasion place to locals. I needed a quality, comforting meal and a relaxing evening. TRUTH delivered.

I enjoyed almost every aspect of Truth. The atmosphere is casual but has fancier touches and the servers are energetic and friendly. Our table ordered a filet mignon that came with mashed potatoes and vegetables, and a pasta entree that included shrimp. The filet was especially delicious and was comparable to a filet that you would get at a downtown Chicago steak place. There is a separate bar area in the front of the restaurant where you may just go for drinks while you are waiting for a table or if you are not eating, which gives the restaurant a more laid back feel.

I have to say we had an okay time this evening at Truth. We took our niece and nephew out for dinner and when we asked where they wanted to go, they said, Truth. I looked at the reviews on the way, but in all honesty, the service was good, the food was good and the price wasn't too bad. All in all we found it a solid 4 star experience.

The lobster Mac and Cheese is my new must have. It is $16 and I can never finish it. It is so rich and creamy. Stacey on Friday or Saturday is your host that greats you when you walk through the small hallway of black and white pictures of the guest that have eaten at Truth and the owners loved ones. She knows everybody that is a regular there and laughs and jokes with new people. I always ask for Jason as my server. If he is the bartender for the night I will eat at the bar. I have never had a bad special entree or dessert. I heart the au grain potatoes. The tuna app is my favorite. Not only is the staff friendly the people that come to eat here are a blast. The stories and the jokes that I have had here are numerous. I just wished there was outside seating for dinner.

My wife and I were looking for a decent dinner before a concert in Joliet. After driving around for 20 minutes and only seeing subpar fast food options, we decided to stop at Truth and I'm glad we did. Nice setting, seemed like a "locals" type of place. We started out with the seared Ahi Tuna and it was fantastic. Dinner salads with balsamic were comforting. We both had the 14oz strip steak. Amazing! Full of flavor and the sides were great as well. Cheesy Au gratin potatoes with green beans. Drinks were well made. Was very happy with our meal!

This restaurant is hidden in plain sight. It's on the corner of Raynor and Jefferson street in The Cathedral Area of Joliet. I loved walking in to this eclectic little place. The greetings were warm, the soft lighting in the dining room set the romantic tone. Our server, Kim, was sweet and knowledgable. We ordered the New York Strip served with au gratin potatoes and mixed vegetables. My husband ordered the au gratin I ordered a baked potato. The steak for both of us was cooked perfectly. My potato was a ok-not the best, but the steamed green beans with mushrooms and carrots were delicious. My only complaint would be the dirty butter knives my husband and I both had. From the pleasant eclectic atmosphere, warm service and the art on the wall I would recommend this for a romantic date night.

We tried Truth for the first time last night. Only three other tables were in there when we got there around 6:30. The decor was meh. Nothing seemed to go together but the vintage tin ceiling was neat. Anyway, we had the nicest waitress, Kim, she was very sweet & gave us great recommendations on what was good. I ordered the chicken vesovio. It was delish!! The mashed potatoes were amazing! And hot!! The entire time we ate, not one bite was even close to cold. My husband had the gnocchi carbonara. It was ok. I liked the chicken better. The house salad dressing was great!! And dessert!! We had the strawberry pound cake. Yummy. Our only complaints was, before the restaurant got busy, five waitress' stood outside of the kitchen door staring at the few tables that were in there. So awkward!! I'm chewing & five people are watching?? Weird! I think we'd go back again.

Truth is really a diamond in the Joliet area. I recently went there with a group of friends and enjoyed a steak an wasabi mashed spuds. The waitier recommended a nice wine and the whole pricetage was reasonable. Over all good service and great food.

I love the outside area of Truth, the inside is nice but nothing special, however, it does have an atmosphere that I felt comfortable in. The staff makes this place. Wether in the bar or at the table the girls were very freindly and welcoming. They protrayed a relaxed professionalism. I have been in there a few times over the last couple of years and enjoyed myself. The food is OK. I had the wedge salad and it was fresh with a nice amount of vegtables on it, but the killer was the mound of salad dressing on it. They must have dumped the entire bottle on it. I felt like I was in a 24 hr joint. It took the elegence away from the salad. The other people had a salad that had some bad leaves in it and that was a turn off too. However, the chicken dish I ordered was good and the other people gave their meals a half thumbs up. So, the food is OK but quite a bit over priced and the drinks are fair and over priced too. But I would go back.

We had my dad's funeral luncheon there, and it was excellent. Terri and Jason did a fabulous job. From planning and discussing the menu to timing and attentiveness when serving the food, couldn't have been better. Terri was so empathetic and took away all the worry of feeding our large family and friends. Everyone raved about the food, and those that haven't eaten there before all said they would return. I couldn't have picked a better place to celebrate my dad.

  • Melinda H.

The food and service are great here! My husband loves the lobster ravioli, and I've really enjoyed the seafood risotto. The service is great, very attentive, and the restaurant is clean and friendly. My favorite thing here is the bruschetta! Absolutely delicious! The only weird thing is the bar...it's just off the restaurant, and is like a totally different place...dark and full of depressed looking people. Very Joliet. But beyond that, this is probably the closest you'll get to fine dining along Jefferson Street.

Had the chance to attend a party for a larger group. I was late arriving and we had all ordered in advance so I wasn't there but 5 minutes before my meal was served. The didn't need any prompting to make sure I received my salad as well. I had the ribeye it was good. The salad was nice. Regardless of a guest being late you should ask if they need something to drink. That said they kept my water glass full. That said the French Fries were batter dipped? REALLY? They didn't match the meal or the establishment. Next, train your staff how to serve. We were being rushed. We had to tell staff multiple times not to take our plates. We were not even being asked if we were done eating. A general lack of manners overall.

My wife and I have been trying to get here for years and finally made it. We were not disappointed! Love the clean and simple decor and the staff was extremely friendly. We had the crab cakes as the appetizer and I am happy to say it was more crab than cake. Delicious! I'm not much on seafood as a main course, but I had the lobster Mac and cheese. It was incredible! Fresh pasta and sweet lobster. A very generous portion. My wife had the ribeye. The sides were great from what she let me steal off her plate. The little bit of steak I had was grilled perfectly. The prices were very affordable for the quality of food. We are going back for sure.

I walked into the place and there is a wall of pictures of people who had a better experience than I. As I waited for my friend to arrive I noticed the eclectic decor. I think they call it tragic chic now! It was almost 40 degrees outside and sunny. It was about 60 inside as my friend put her coat back on. The service was johnny on the spot as we got our drinks and meal within minutes of ordering. Maybe it was the fact there were only 3 tables to take care of! I got my chicken picatta that was suppose to be a lightly breaded breast, sauteed in lemon with white wine sauce. The breast was bare and it was swimming in a bland pool of angle hair, capers, mushrooms and tomato's. They should have drained the plate before bringing it out. My friend liked her chicken dish and it looked much more appetizing than mine. As we were eating the waitress was putting a new table cloth on the table behind me. She shook it and a cloud of dust surrounded me. Am I being picky? If I was I would have mentioned that the drink glasses on all the tables were different and our table cloth was upside down. But I'm not like that.

There really isn't much to choose from in Joliet Period. I had been passing this place by for years, and today I finally decided to drop in and get the low down on The Truth. The truth seemed like a hidden gem in Joliet, Illinois. This town is littered with chain restaurants, and fast food. Walking in the carpet blew me away. It was sooo dirty. Like in need of a shampoo! Me and the Boy started off with Dirty Martini's which were nice and strong-but totally overpriced at 10 bucks apiece! The menu is all ala carte. I didn't realize that until I got the bill. We ordered our dinner, and the waitress told us about soup and we gave in. I thought it came with the dinner. The soup was a garden vegetable type- Totally from a can. I had a dish called the Cannelloni- which was Shrimp, Crab, & lobster stuffed pasta in a Champagne cream sauce. It was luke warm which kind of killed my liking for this dish.I did try the crab cakes, and I was rather pleased. Very Meaty, and great flavor. I would go back just for that! For Desert we had a chocolate brownie that was very good! The truth failed me big time. I really wanted to love this place. But I have to say that dinner for two came in at 98 dollars plus tip. So not worth it. I've had so much better at lower prices. I have no problem spending the money if the Chef comes with it!! #Fail

This is a dinner review. Hit or miss. That is my main complaint about Truth. If they were consistent, I would feel better about recommending it to friends. Some visits I have had wonderful meals. Other visits, the food has been over-salted, dry, and kind of depressing. My theory, perhaps there are two different chefs. If I could figure out the work schedule of the good one, I'd eat there more often. I've never had a problem with service, staff has been really nice when I've been there. I also like the idea of a limited menu. The decor is a bit madhouse, but they keep it suitably dark inside.

We have been to Truth once before about 4 years ago and it was good, but in the 4 years I had forgotten just how good it is. Truth has to be one of the best kept secrets in Joliet. We went on a whim on a Wednesday night at about 6pm without reservations. They were only 1/2 full when we arrived but were full by the time we left. Truth is on the corner of Jefferson and Raynor and if you're not careful you'll miss it. It is a small place with a décor that is nothing special. What is special, however, is the food. My wife had a wedge salad, Pork Chop and AuGratin potatoes. I had the soup of the day, Strip Steak and AuGratin potatoes. Everything was cooked to perfection. The pork chop moist and tender. The Strip Steak cooked and seasoned perfectly. The AuGratin potatoes, wow, I could eat them as my entire meal. Prices are very reasonable as our total bill was $52.00 without drinks. We will be visiting Truth much more regularly!

I travel quite frequently and find myself often resorting to "comfort" foods in chain restaurants. Finding myself in Joliet this evening I opted to try Truth based on the Yelp reviews. The food was delicious and the service impeccable. I chose the Chicken Picata and was given a delicious, tender offering (perhaps too heavy on the capers, but delicious nonetheless). Wine menu was great but I wished they offered half-carafes (as I was dining alone - yeah, cue the violins). Nonetheless, delicious food, good wine and great service. Worth the stop - some of the best Joliet ha to offer.

Steak was very good and so were all the sides. The price was a little high but not too crazy. The drinks were priced fair. The service and atmosphere were great. The only bad thing was the silverware was dirty but luckly I noticed before we ate with them. But all in all it was a good place to go and we will go again.

We were exhausted, but rousted enough energy for the hour drive to Joliet sheerly based on the grand mirage of their much-touted Wasabi Mashed Potatoes. They were no longer on the menu. While the food was okay, I was not overly impressed. My friends, who had convinced me to go along because they'd been and loved it, said that the menu had been changed. They DID still make us mashed potatoes with wasabi, but the rest of the menu was pretty standard and the flavors were nothing to brag to my friends about and drive an hour to go to; the pretzel chicken sandwich I got was dry-ish and lacking in flavor. Even the sweet potato fries were meh at best, though the dipping sauce was delicious (and reminiscent of mascarpone cheese). The service was nice enough, it was freezing inside, and there was a weird collection of paintings on the walls. Maybe there's new ownership that changed the menu? It just didn't live up to the cool blended cuisine I'd heard about.

The Wellington appetizer was tasty, the pot roast was tender, and the seafood cannelloni was full of crab. The decor was outdated, the noise level insanely high, and the bread hard and stale. We ultimately enjoyed the meal, but would not be first on the list to come back.

So not impressed. My In-laws had been raving about this place so we had a big family dinner here. We didn't need a reservation to get a table big enough for 6 on a Friday night and were seated immediately. The decor really bugged me - maybe I'm just a stuck-up Cali girl but I could not understand the theme in this place. I also really disliked the neon tshirts the staff wears - again, I just don't get what the theme is here. So they definitely lose points on ambiance. The menu has everything you would expect- steak, pork chops, salads, fish, pasta. We ordered 4 different appetizers, sounds like a lot, but they were all pretty small (would be perfect for 2-3 people). We sent one appetizer back twice because it was still frozen in the middle - gross! The entrees were good, but then again, you shouldn't be in the food business if you can't make classic meals, like chicken picatta or salmon! Desserts were big and very tasty though. It wasn't that expensive, but for the price I would have expected more. I wouldn't go back unless they figure out what kind of restaurant they're trying to be. California has really spoiled me.Sorry!

Upon reading others' reviews I was prompted to visit this restaurant. I went on a Friday afternoon for lunch and was not disappointed. The wine list is rather vast, especially for such a small place and one in Joliet for that matter. I really liked the selections they offered. They were reasonably priced too. The service was very polite and pleasant, which sometimes seems rare these days. One of the best points to make about the service is how well timed it was. Meaning, we weren't rushed to make a decision on what to order because the server needed to turn a table, and when we ordered appetizers the appetizers didn't come out at the same time as our entrees. The server was spot on with everything. The food was incredible and perfectly cooked. The first thing we noticed is that our dishes were still steaming when we got them. They weren't sitting under some hot lamp while another dish was made; they were made together and came out together -- hot! We had the crab cakes and calamari as an appetizer. The calamari was good, not rubbery and overcooked like many are, especially this far inland. The crab cakes, however, were incredible! They were soft and tender, not dried out and burnt on the outside. The sauce the went with the crab cake was excellent too! We each had an entree, the chicken and the chicken picatta. The chicken picatta was to die for. Apparently it's their most popular dish; I can see why. Although the portion size was good, I wanted more because it tasted so great. The chicken dish with the risotto was also very good. As with the appetizers, the dishes were cooked to perfection and came out steaming hot. The prices are a little on the high side, which makes this a place to go on special occasions, especially for dinner. On the other hand, you get what you pay for, and I'm willing to pay five dollars more to have the service and perfection Truth offers. I have spent too much money at chain restaurants only to wish I had made something at home. So instead of being disappointed at a lesser-quality restaurant or an overpriced restaurant, I'll save my dough to return to Truth. I can't wait to try it again!

Why any bad reviews? If you live in Joliet like I do, you would/ should not rag on this place. Just went there with my mom for dinner and had another great meal. Good service. I had great pork chops! Nice bar. For what j-town has to offer, this far surpasses just another Greek restaurant choice.

I really love Truth. I recommend the chicken picatta or pot roast. Both are delicious. They also have a nice wine selection. I've never had an issue with hit or miss food as dome of the other reviews suggested. I have always loved everything I have tried. I actually really appreciate the decor. This is a small business and the prints you see are a local artist's work you can buy. I'm not sure if that is the case for every print, but many are tagged with the artists contact info. Recently we hosted a surprise party for my mother in law in the back room. I honestly can't say enough about how far above and beyond they went to make the night special. They offered a custom menu at an incredibly reasonable price. They made sure the room was decorated and the food and service were outstanding. I would strongly recommend their side room for a baby shower, bridal shower, or small party. We had 25 people and the size was perfect. It was also half of the price of other local places we checked.

I've been coming to Truth almost from the very beginning when it first opened 6 years ago,so I'll be the first to admit that I'm a bit biased. That being said, I absolutely love the food! They've recently opened up for lunch and it doesn't disappoint. Their bleu cheese burger, one of Truth's signature entrees, crackles with its flavor combination of the fried onions(no,not onion rings!) and rye bread. My boyfriend had the fried lobster and commented that it was not only tasty but incredibly filling.I think that whatever you choose from the menu, you can't go wrong. What really is a stand-out here are the bartenders. They make cocktails ol'school. Nothing watered down here. Whether it's Carrie,Darcy,Kemo or Jamie, you're sure to have a good time and an excellent drink. And where the hell are you going to find a bar that adds bleu cheese olives into your martini in Joliet!?! To be honest,(and only Joliet natives will remember this place) the drinks remind me of the old Stefanich's (When Hippy ran it!!) Truth treats thier guests like family. Not many restaurants in Joliet have a staff that not only remember your name or your fave drink, but know when your birthday is or have an anniversary coming up. As a matter of fact, the hostess has called us when they have our favorite soup ( Six Onion Soup) or the Chicken Pot Pie!!! Once again,I'm totally biased as I'm a devout Truth patron. However, there are few places in Joliet that give you a 4-star meal without having to drive the 35 miles into Chicago. It's,by far,the best restaurant in Joliet. Truth is "APPROVED"!!!

For a restaurant to survive in Joliet it has to be solid and also have that buzz about it...The Truth is just OK at best. The decor is blah and service isn't bad , just nothing to say awesome to. The food was the kind of quality that make you say " How do I really feel about this food?" A great restaurant doesn't leave you with that feeling. The ambiance didn't exist nor did many other patrons...Make an effort to improve that ZING and create that buzz!
