Went here for lunch yesterday with my girlfriend, we we're looking for tacos and almost left when we saw the menu had nothing from your typical "Mexican" restaurant but we we're hungry and the food on everyone's tables looked amazing. We were greeted with ceviche and after looking at the menu for a while decided on the paella and one of the chefs spicy specials. The way they cook the octopus here is amazing. It was so tender and flavorful ava when they cook it the whole place has this wonderful aroma. Not since trying sushi for the first time have I left a restaurant feeling so food high. Can't wait to return.

Food is really really good! Service not so much. I always feel intimidated if I come by myself because there's so many dudes eyeing you. So I always call ahead and order for pick up. They're open late so it's always a good option when you don't feel like cooking. I love their shrimp cocktail, ceviche, and seafood soup. Definitely a good spot in the area, however late at night it can be a little sketchy. Yet still love the food.

It's a great place to go to stuff yourself on seafood without breaking the bank. Waiters were kind enough to warn me before I stuffed a chip with hot sauce in my mouth (much hotter than I thought it would be). They need a website though :)

I would grade this 3 1/2 if I could... I'm not going to say I didn't like the food because I did. The servers were very nice and helpful. They have a mariachi band on Friday nights and it's PRETTY loud. I couldn't hold a conversation. So, don't go on Friday nights if you plan on catching up with friends. Like everyone else said, they serve free fish ceviche with tostadas and crackers. It's pretty good. I've had their jumbo shrimps wrapped in bacon. These are pretty good if you like bacon. I found it a bit difficult to eat because the bacon was pretty hard but the shrimp was on point. Their empanadas are.... mehhh. There's just ground up shrimp inside.. I didn't like it, personally. But when I put a bunch of the free salsa they gave it was better. I had their charola de longastinos.. Shrimp cut in half; Nayarit style. It was pretty good but I had to question the freshness of the shrimp a little because it wasn't as firm as fresh shrimp should be. But because it was topped with a butter sauce that I couldn't resist, I ate the whole thing. I also had their shrimp cocktail. It was too sweet for my liking, personally. I added a lot of hot sauce to kind of balance it out in the end. I LIKE this place but I've eaten at so many Nayarit-style seafood places that this place is just mediocre. The pricing is also a bit high from other restaurants I've been to as well. They are open late compared to the other restaurants so if I had to go there I would.. It just wouldn't be my first choice.

Very good octopus, that's cooked in garlic and perhaps a little butter. Amount of tentacles weren't skimpy for the $13 price tag and you'll definitely be comfortably full at the end. My carry-out container consisted of a generous portion of rice, lime, cucumber salad, and some tostada shells. Might run into a language barrier if you get one of the older ladies as they don't speak English as well as the younger wait staff.

Awesome ceviche. Fresh, bright, and delicious. I got takeout and it came with a whole pack of tostadas. I haven't tried much else, but I'm excited to go back.

Excelente lugar, precios económicos y un sabor formidable. Platos bien servidos, siempre limpio, y buen servicio, lo recomiendo muy por encima de otras marisquerías de la zona

OMG! sorry took so long to review, but you all have to try this place! The new pineapple thingy with the octopus inside was smashingly good! Everything we ate was so good. I love the langostinos, the spicy white fish, the crab legs, the oh I dont know, just start ordering, we have JOSE that does our ordering, and last time with was a food orgy with at least 12 courses. We all tried everything rather than one entree to one person. I cant imagine eating just one entree here. Fun with a group on Friday night with the mariachi band, it does get loud, but what the hell, its a party!

this place is awesome. The ceviche is very fresh and full of flavor. I had the fillet de marinara and my girl had camerones a la diabla. Both were excellent. This is not your taqueria. This is gourmet Mexican fare at its best. Who'd a thunk in Joliet?

I have tried the camarones a la diabla ( shrimp in hot tasty sauce) they re delicious. I have gone in in the day time not too full, on the afternoons on th weekends the place can get packed and loud. This place only serves seafood so don't go asking for tacos.

Honest review: foods not that good its expensive not worth it. Before i get to the food i wanna talk about the service. It was horrible when i mean horrible i mean they all had an attitude and when u would ask them something theyd be like oh idk n say some smart ass comment. Then they didnt give us utensils or tortillas i never had waiters this rude. Then the restaurant was freezing cold and we told them to lower it they ignored us. What really made me mad like still mad about it today. They charged us gratuity for 4 people?????????? Never in my life had they done something that n i been to really expensive places never has anybody done that like ik its always more then 6 people so they were being so sketchy beware!!! Regarding the food. All in all never again even if it was free The free appetizer: it was like a ceviche. I thought it was rice or just vegetables because the texture was really off. So u could tell it was really old. The hot sauce on the table was amaizing be careful extremely spicy like youll feel like ur dieing Shrimp cocktail: this had so much seafood like it was more seafood then anything else like it even had scallops in it. It was really watered down though and it was kinda sweet. It needed more seasoning. Fried fish: it was really crispy but had no seasoning then they charged us extra to put the sauce on the side? My friend ordered shrimp fajitas and they didnt clean any of her shrimp like it was made me stop eating

I'm torn with the rating for this place. They have hits and misses here. I've tried the red snapper here and it was fantastic. The shrimp a la diabla totally failed to deliver a punch. I could taste notes of ketchup in the sauce. My all time favorite from this place are the shrimp empanadas. Hands down, that's why I keep coming back.

This place is so good, everything is unbelievable delicious. Sure, the neighborhood is not the most "scenic" but they have their own parking lot and the food alone makes up for the location. Sit yourself and you are immediately greeted with a basket of tostadas and a (free) generous sampling of their delicious ceviche. My husband loves to order the whole deep fried fish covered in crispy fried garlic and I love their filet a la marinera (fish fillet topped with shrimp and octopus and a delicious langoustine sauce). Generous portions on anything you order but always ask about the spicy level, some things are just right but other stuff will knock your socks off! A yummy horchata will cool your mouth off if it gets out of hand.

Came here with an aunt who kept raging about the food. I ordered shrimp and wasn't very impressed. Atmosphere was definitely inviting. Prices were reasonable. However I expected the food to be better.

Disappointed.. Everything we ordered was salty. I Ordered the shrimp dinner estilo puerto and the shrimp had the most foul smell. I did not eat it we had to cover it up with napkins. My son ordered fried shrimp and they were over cooked. My husband ordered langostinos (botana) and they brought out the dinner. When I told one of the waitresses about the mistake she had the balls to say (with an attitude) that either way it's the same amount of langostinos in both the botana and dinner. I laughed and told her " oh, well then I'm sorry for bothering you! don't worry about it! It's fine!ok thank you so much! We don't mean to disturb you!" She went back to tell our waitress and she never came back to our table to check on us. When we tried them they were so over cooked that it was like trying to pull rubber apart; in addition to this they were SALTY. We ordered tacos to try and my daughter also got the steak taco dinner and they were pretty good unfortunately they were SALTY! We won't be coming to this restaurant again nor will we ever recommend it. Their chips and salsas are good. If you wish to spend your hard earned money on a good meal go elsewhere.

Love this little place!...Filette a La Mexicana so tender, white rice, mmm, & no skimping on the portions either! Try not to fill up on the FREE ceviche, sooo good!

Amazing!! Don't let the outside fool u. I'm from Texas and this is seriously the freshest yummiest seafood I've ever eaten. As soon as u walk in they bring you FREE ceviche that is so fresh and tostada shells. Everything we ordered was awesome. So glad we trusted the yelp review and drove to this place.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
