Best pancake house in all of Elmhurst and the owners are very sweet and always make sure you have what you need. Sad part is they are closed on North avenue now as of 7/15/15. I will miss them and hope that they find a new location to reopen soon.

Just your basic family friendly pancake house. Met up with some family members on a Sunday morning around 0930 and found there was no wait for our party of 5. By the time we left though, there was a bit of a line as expected for Sunday mornings. The space is cute farmhouse chic and pretty clean. The menu is pretty basic...pancakes, eggs benny, omelets, scramblers, skillets. The coffee is strong and refills aplenty. Service was friendly. My basic Eggs Benedict dish was fine, hashbrowns had a nice crispy coating. We had a good laugh because the Mickey Mouse pancake is not a true mickey mouse head silhouette shape. Just one regular pancake with two silver dollar pancakes as the ears. Whipped cream covered their attempt at subterfuge.

Not bad. Breakfast was decent. I had the Friday special, county fried steak & eggs. The steak had nice flavor to it. My wife had the meat lover skillet with cinnamon raisin toast that she complained tasted "old". The waitress was really nice & regularly checked on us. The coffee was only lukewarm which I don't too much like lukewarm coffee, I need it piping hot. But that's fine. Reasonably priced. May return one day.

We have been coming here with family usually for breakfast or lunch. The place is friendly and food is ok. We never ventured further than eggs, omelets or French Toast here, but all that we order is tasty. The owners are always here and greet at the door, and that is always a nice touch.

You wouldn't think much of a decaying shopping center located at a major intersection of suburbia. Well, if you were looking for a mediocre diner with exceptional service you're in luck! Although this is one of the shortest menus I've seen from a diner in some time, they seem to have copied Denny's menu verbatim. (I'm guessing here. I haven't to one in like 10 years, but isn't "Grand Slam" a Denny's trademark?). Okay, so the meat lovers skillet looked good, but I passed on the meat coma for the bacon, egg, and cheese bagel. At $7, I was hesitant, but it turned out to be quite filling. In the end, it wasn't the food that won me over, it was the service. (Although my dining guests would disagree). The waitress seemed a bit rushed but the owner noticed our unease and discounted our bill. (Not by much, he simply "rounded down" to $30 on a $32 bill).

Maple Tree is a short walk from the Marriott where I was staying and a convenient breakfast alternative to the overpriced hotel cafe. It's a pretty basic diner but our nice server and the breakfast value (4.95 for eggs, home fries and toast) lured us back for lunch the same day and the following afternoon. Water glasses were full, BLTs were crispy, fries and onion rings were fresh and the check was delivered with the meal because we were in a bit of a rush. The service the following day was less impressive. We waited almost 20 minutes for our order to be taken. We had to ask 4 times for water which was served warm. There was no sign of the soup that had been ordered and we asked about it twice before the entrees came out and then once after. It never found its way to our table. Kind of wish we'd chosen another place for lunch on that 2nd afternoon.

A great place for breakfast! We have been here numerous times in the past year and each time it gets a little better. I know This restaurant has been around for a long time, but it seems the owners have a solid staff right now and should work hard at keeping them. The food came out fast, fresh and hot. The poached eggs I ordered were perfect (one of my litmus tests for breakfast places), toast was buttered, the crepes were light and filled just right. Our waitress was friendly and efficient and our bill was under 20 bucks! What more can a gal ask for!

This is your basic family restaurant. The Denver omelet was one of the best I've had in town. However, there was something odd about the pancake and waffle batter. The best way to describe it would be 'dense'. They're not light and fluffy. Other than that, the service was friendly and the prices were very reasonable. It's worth a visit. As of this writing there are ninety-six restaurants in Elmhurst. I plan on eating at, and reviewing, every one. Follow me on Yelp!

I've been going to Maple Tree for over ten years. Love the place. Today I had my favorite item off the menu, The Shoe. As I understand it, this is a dish that originated in St Louis. It consists of Texas Toast served on top of fried potatoes. Sausage patties and gravy are put on top of the toast. It is then topped off with an egg. Part of the reason I like it is because my wife isn't a big fan of gravy and this is a treat for me. The skillets, omelets, pancakes, and steak are also very good here. I don't think I've had a bad meal there.

Found this place by accident and ordered the Irish Shoe. Hash browns and a slice of Greek toast topped with hash, 3 eggs and white gravy. What a tremendous breakfast. And we even got the senior discount. I'd come back in a heartbeat.

Good food with decent prices, however, the service isn't too friendly. First visit---gentleman complained I was using a card to pay while cashing out, and that he had to pay a 3% fee for my purchase. It's called the cost of business. I wasn't pleased with that but the food is okay so I have gone back several times, but that's something you don't say to a customer---EVER!!!!!!!!!!

Loved my breakfast at Maple Tree today. Eggs were perfect. Pancakes were size able and fluffy. Hash browns had onions. The waitress let me sub hash browns for meat since I don't eat meat and it was no hassle. Coffee was adequate and hot. Love discovering places that are not chains. I would come back. Great value.

Came here because my hotel didn't serve breakfast on Sunday after 9 am. Place was packed and it felt like stepping back into the early 90's however, the food is great! I am a bit of a health nut so, I ordered egg whites, fresh fruit, and oatmeal with raisins and brown sugar. THE BEST OATMEAL I HAVE EVER HAD!!! I am from Alabama originally and my G-ma would probably be mad I said so but, you have to try the oatmeal!

We went here for breakfast yesterday as we were passing through the area on errands. The décor definitely feels like it is trapped in the 80's...and the food was adequate. I had the crepes with raspberries - the crepes were good, but the 'raspberries' was overly sweet raspberry pie filling that makes my teeth ache just thinking about it! My wife had the Irish 'Shoe' - she said the corned beef hash was good, but the one bad thing is that they overcooked her eggs. She tried to hold off eating them in hopes of getting another set cooked, but after 10 minutes of waiting for our waitress to come by, she ate them anyhow.

I wish there was a negative star! Bf & I Went to have a late breakfast today, granted it is father's day but there wasn't a wait for a table. The bus boy immediately served us coffee, then server quickly came right after & blatantly asked what we wanted to eat, barely looking at us. We weren't even there 5 mins to look over the menu! We both ordered a cup of the only soup, cram of chick n rice; he got a grilled cheese w/fries & I asked for rib eye(medium rare) & eggs special w/hash & pancakes. Soup took 10 mins, tasted like flour & was stark white. Rest of the food reached our table over 30 mins after the soup. For over $7, you might think that a grilled cheese would be more than 2 cold slices of Kraft between toasted white bread, right? Where's the meltly gooey goodness? Fries seemed like they were previously frozen. My rib eye was terribly thin, cooked well done & drowning in what appeared to be beef broth. Pancakes were pale & hash browns burnt. We both took about 1 to 2 bites of our plates before trying to flag down our waitress, whom ignored us twice till we complained to another server to just get our check so we can leave. Our waitress came over, seemed confused as though this never happens & said she had to ask the manager. Left came back, took our food, didn't give us the check, came back again & said sorry we didn't have a check. Shockingly, NO MANAGER CAME TO TALK TO US! Obvi, never going back.

First breakfast of 2012 was the worst breakfast I, and surely my friends, have ever had. Let's go around the table. We have one grand slam...fully equipped with watery scrambled eggs and Brown n Serve sausage links, with a side of French toast that seemed like it was just toast with syrup on it. I ordered the "famous" steak and eggs. "how would you like your steak, sir?" medium please..."ok, well done it is". Along with a generous helping of watery scrambled eggs for me and wood chips disguised as hash browns. Moving right along we have the Country Breakfast...more like third-world country breakfast. The biscuits and gravy looked like pure prison slop, and was nice and cold, just how you would want them, right? That came with some silver dollar sausage patties and his own serving of wood chips. I don't need to go any further, this should suffice. How this place has regulars is a mystery to me. Unfortunately there's no one to blame, except us as this was not a recommendation, simply the first thing we came across. So, if you're thinking of gracing this place with your presence...don't.

So the quest for a good Greek place brought us to the corner of North and Kingery. Gotta say, the food here is pretty darn good and the service is on the ball. Good biscuits and gravy and fantastic soups. Definitely qualifies for high marks for the "Cream of Chicken Rice Test". Unfortunately, as far as Greek breakfast joints go, it's probably a good $10 more (for a breakfast for 2) than most other places we've been to. in a pinch we'll go there, but it's definitely not top-of-mind when we're thinking Sunday breakfast. Update: They've recently added Bloody Marys to their breakfast menu. For $4 we were pretty leery. Usually it's just a bad bloody mix and well vodka for that much. Sure enough, Mr. and Mrs. T's and half a stick of celery. At least they've got the cream of chicken rice going on. I'll find a decent breakfast bloody somewhere out in the burbs one of these days.

Maple Tree has been a number of places before, but this is its best incarnation so far. It seems oddly out of place in the corner of a shopping center at North Ave. and Rt. 83, with a huuuuge expanse of parking around there. Inside, you'll find some of the tastiest deals in breakfast. I ordered some sort of country platter: two eggs, (scrambled with cheddar, thank you), two biscuits n gravy (a little lacking in flavor, but plenty sausage-y), toast, potatoes....all for less than $8! and i originally balked because i wanted the bigger "country something-or-other" plate with an extra egg and biscuit. i was foolish to think i could've defeated Maple Tree. they conquered my hunger, and on a great budget too! only downside...i don't know who our server was, but she basically yelled to her customers in her entire section during the whole meal. she was definitely master of her universe, and since we were in a corner, it carried all around the place. but i was perfectly content to keep my head down and my mouth full.

Can't believe I have lived in Villa Park for so many years and have never tried this place. Went for a late breakfast last weekend and everything was very nicely done. The food was delicious and there were many offerings for both breakfast and lunch. Our server was great, kept our drinks filled and was also very patient with the two year old in our party. Special requests were honored perfectly. It was very reasonable in price for the amount of food we got! My only complaint was that the decor looked tired and the tables were very close together. I felt a little cramped as we were seated very near the cashier and the door. But I will give it another try soon!

Have had the Supreme skillet ( Corn beef hash) and I loved it! My only wish for their skillets is that they add a slice or two of cheese! The service there is always quick and polite and the food is fast, you can be in and out in under 30 min with a full breakfast.

Why deliver a check to the table at the same time you deliver the food?! It really just says, "I took your order and that's the only service you are getting here". And, that is exactly what happened at the Maple Tree this morning. We were promptly greeted and seated by a lovely gentleman. After that is was all down hill. Took 5+ minutes to get a glass of water, coffee was dropped off at the table without creamer, pancakes were dropped off without syrup. Get the picture? The whole experience was just a big waiting game. They should play this matching game in the kitchen before sending food or drinks to the table..."What goes with pancakes? Syrup!! Ding, ding, ding!" The country skillet was "meh", the pancakes also "meh", the crispy hash browns I requested were a big soggy undercooked mashed potato looking heap. The water glasses are tiny and we were unable to get a refill. Boooo. The grand total for 1 coffee, 1 country skillet and 2 banana pancakes = $20. Expensive!

I really enjoy going to Maple Tree any Saturday or Sunday morning I get. The food is great. The owners are very nice. The staff is great and the service is super fast. My only complaint is I can't finish my breakfast because my eye's are bigger than my stomach thank goodness for doggy bags. I highly suggest the old country breakfast with crispy hash browns.

I have been coming here for the past year and service has been steadily declining in that time. You have to flag someone down for anything you may need, they don't check on you, they have forgotten to bring parts of my order on more than one occasion, they take forever to drop the check. I think it's time for a new breakfast place.

The service was good and the food came out quick! Thumbs up! My meatlover skillet was delicious and it came with THREE eggs, wow that's a lot of food. I was extremely stuff by the time I finished! A great mix of ham, sausage, bacon, and potatoes! My boyfriend and his parent's definitely enjoyed their skillet and omelettes also. This is my new go to breakfast restaurant!

The menu seemed small and focused, and it's clearly a place with a lot of history, so I did try the skirt steak & eggs breakfast combo, which is probably one of the finest skirt steaks I've eaten in recent memory. I recommend.

Impressive breakfast & lunch menu, great prices, good food, one of the nicest staffs I've ever encountered AND they have coupons via text messaging? Yes, I'm definitely a fan! Sign up for their text messages to receive their special deals - just remember show the text to your server. I'm partial to their oh-so-tender barbecued pork sandwich for lunch. It's messy, of course, so wear dark colors to hide your drips. Their homemade soups are always great as well. I especially like the wide selection of sides you can choose from to have with your sandwich, not just your standard fries.

I love, love this place. I probably eat her 1-2x/week, both breakfast and lunch. They have super sweet potato fries and homemade coleslaw that is a must have. The menu is varied and the prices are reasonable. The cinnamon roll french toast and biscuits/gravy are both good breakfast choices. Being a Texas girl, getting decent biscuits & gravy is a must! The waitstaff and owner are always friendly. It's right next door to the Goodwill store, so perfect for bargain shopping after a yummy meal : )

This may not be the most glamorous spot to have breakfast, but it has a lot going for it: the food and the prices and the service. Pretty good, huh? When my cousin needed one of his "let's catch up" chats, he suggested Maple Tree. No problem, main drag, lots of parking. But he warned, meet me by a certain time for the breakfast specials. Well, okay, I can handle a need for speed. We had a really great waitress and I was pleased to see a number of new breakfast specials -- trendy -- for veggie and meat-eating people alike; and these ranged from 4 to 7 dollars for the meal. Not bad, right? My cousin ordered the Irish Stack: wow: a couple of eggs with french toast plus hash with onion and cheese. Though not for me, it smelled really great. I was temped with what they called a Garden Stack; but I went with the Caprese Benedict, and I'm glad I did. This was eggs with tomato and basil, light cheese and an English muffin. My breakfast was great; the coffee was super fresh (our waitress kept it coming, thank you), and my cousin really enjoyed his food as well. They were quite busy so I guess the word is out about these February meals. And for you lovebirds out there, they had ads up for Valentine's Day specials too --- not sure what that means but I'm sure red will be involved. Thanks Maple Tree, and keep it up!

My friends have been talking about Maple Tree since I've started hanging out with them. Yesterday they invited me to join them for breakfast, and I'm glad I did. I had one of their breakfast skillets. That's usually the litmus test for one of these diner-type-establishments. If you can do a decent skillet, you're ok in my book. Maple Tree came through. Fresh ingredients, and huge portions. The staff was attentive, but not overly so. But the nicest thing to see was the manager or owner guy was really pitching in to help out with just about everything from serving, to clearing dishes, to seating people. I like to see that sort of thing. I'd definitely come back. Simple food, good prices.

We've been eating here for 15 years. After our visit last weekend, we wont be continuing. My other half ordered the special which was skirt steak and eggs for $7.99. I ordered some combo that had eggs, potatoes and biscuits and gravy. Our food arrived barely lukewarm. The waitress seemed to know in advance as she was right there to get me new eggs. That is all I ended up eating. The potatoes were cold and the biscuits and gravy were pretty much like slop. The skirt steak was like a rubber shoe heel. I get it skirt steak is tough. But Dappers does it deliciously as do a number of other places. when the owner came to check on our meal - we told him our food was cold and the steak was horrible. He offered a new steak but my other half declined. To which the owner " I sell over 500 of them a week". ?!?!? He offered to take it off the bill. Imagine my surprise when I get the $21.00 dollar bill for this supposed meal. They took $3.99 off the bill for the steak. Just didn't seem right to me...since we've had decent experiences until now, I waited a week before writing this review.

Went for breakfast before the craft show at the Odeum. The food was good, but our waitress was fantastic! She was very attentive and managed her tables with ease, one of her tables happened to be be 20+ bikers/wives, but you would have no idea she was handling such a large group because she never forgot about us or anything we needed.

  • Kathleen B.

Wow, even for a diner the food was entirely too greasy! Had breakfast here this morning. Service was mediocre at best as the waitress seemed to be attending more to the regulars than anyone else. I had the Rancher's skillet which was just swimming in oil. Such a disappointment. Husband had a reuben melt which was marginally better. The owner at the cash register to pay the bill was very friendly, but that's about the only nice thing I experienced.

This is the most intriguing mediocre restaurant I've ever been to. As far as the food , ambiance , service , and prices go , everything averages out to be around 3 or 4 stars. The strange thing about this place is that everything I go there with my son , he absolutely flips out. I've gone here with him and myself , and with both my wife and son. Both times he misbehaved like he was possessed. He is usually a really good kid , but were talking worse behavior since the terrible twos. I am convinced the place must have built on an Indian burial ground like in Pet Cemetery. The food was fine , so if you don't have kids , you'll probably be fine. If you have kids , take your own chances. I liked the steak and eggs just fine , nothing to write home about.

Not your typical breakfast place. While it looks like every other Greek place out there the food is outstanding. I've become a regular going 2-3 times per week and have never had a bad meal. Thursday morning steak and egg special is fantastic! At lunch I've had the best patty melt of my life there. The new owner really takes pride in the place and the experience you receive as a customer.

  • Jesse A.

The food is decent and the prices are very reasonable. The staff is friendly and stops by enough to check on you, without being annoying about it. The food comes out quick and is always hot. The place seems to have a lot of regulars as well which is a very good thing. As usual, I am quite shocked to see such negative reviews about such a good place to eat. If you are considering trying this place out for your first time, don't listen to these reviews. Just try it for yourself. I am sure you will enjoy it.
