Chinese Cuisine
The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.

Really good Chinese food. The egg drop soup is really delicious. I had the sweet and sour chicken and there was quite a lot of sauce on the plate but it's better than it being dry. The pork fried rice is really, really good. My husband had the orange chicken which wasn't bad either. Pretty good Chinese food for rural Idaho!

Extremely disappointed. Called from out of town to deliver meal to my son who lives in Rexburg. Talked with them four times over a two hour period to see what the delay was and got a different story every time, each excuse contradicting the previous one. Finally after two hours they could not process three different valid credit cards and the whole thing was cancelled. Extremely frustrated with them.

Food is really good. A little on the greasy side, but really taste. The service is decent, but if you want delivery you can pretty much forget about it. They only deliver when no customers are in the restaurant and you have to be semi-close to them. However, the food is good and decently priced, lunch is the best prices with lots of options. The owners are very nice and do a lot of the serving during the not so busy days of the week.

Food was ok. Not anything amazing. It was very expensive and not really worth it. Super greasy and not much flavor. The restaurant is very out dated and does not have a good atmosphere. The service was good and we got are food in a timely matter.

I went there on a "business" lunch. I will admit I was a little dubious, a small Chinese place in a small town is not typically my favorite place to try... but everyone I went with "raved" about it, so I accepted the invite. I was surprised at the size of the place and the fact that it wasn't the traditional Chinese Buffet - in fact there was no buffet! The place was pretty large, parking was kinda limited right in front of the place, but it was quite popular. To the food... I ordered Spicy Sesame Chicken... and let me tell you, the portion was HUMONGOUS... I mean seriously it could have fed 4 and in fact the lady that lived in town was nice enough to take all the left overs (2 hamburger size to go boxes filled up)... The food was by no means gourmet or original, the chicken breast was battered and deep friend with a crust of sesame seeds and the thick sweet/spicy sauce was plentiful. Surprisingly, it was pretty decent. I can't complain... The only negative was the pay-the-bill process... our server was swamped.. she was the only one working the whole place and never came back with our check.. so we approach the cashier and had to stand in line while they were figuring out who's check is who's and finally paying..

I always want to eat here when I'm in Idaho. I love their sweet n sour sauce. I live in Cali and I hate the chinese food there. Just can't get as good as Fongs!
(5)Devin J.
Mediocre Chinese food, slow service, and they put their generic pink sauce on almost every entree no matter what dish it is. New Fongs is slightly better but honestly neither are that good compared to places outside of Rexburg. But sometimes you just need your fix and Fongs definitely satisfies.

Each time I go to Rexburg, I have to eat at Fong's, or order Fong's to go. I think its the only Chinese food place in town, although they opened a new and shiny Fong's closer to the college. I like this one. More personality. This is your standard, small town Chinese food place, like you went to with your mom and dad. Plastic banquette booths, grey walls, typical faded Chinese decor and plastic flowers. I'll say it right out - I am addicted to their fried shrimp. When I was little and lived in California, we visited my grandma in San Carlos, and often got Chinese food from a tiny take out place on El Camino. The BEST Shrimp in my world. Haven't been able to really find them since. Well, Fong's shrimp are almost exactly like shrimp at Grandma's house. YAY. Just about everything here is decent, and the prices are rock bottom affordable. I think lunch was $3.50. So for a cute little town, with only one Chinese food place, this place is a good bet.

One of the best things about Rexburg and my time at school there was living a block from Fongs! Nothing like calling up and ordering a number 9 and bringing it home to some great mindless television. I can't say they have unique dishes, and while sometimes one menu item seems like a variation of another, I must have had an addiction because I was there at least once a week the last two years. Last few times I visited friends, I had to insist on a trip to Fongs. Plenty of seating. Always good service.

The only meal worth the money is sweat and sour chicken

I am a fongs lover! Every Town has to have chinese ... right? I was nervous when I moved up here that we wouldn't have a chinese place and then I saw it, Fongs. It was a beautiful sight to see! And it was delicious. And... it helped that asian women worked there! Like I said, its super tasty. Try it out.

great great hot & sour soup but that's about it. first off, it's called fong's chinese & american restaurant. they served my boyfriend's fried shrimp with ketchup and mustard! they use bacon bits for their "pork" fried rice they compliment their chowfun/mein and appetizers with rice. i dont know, i guess it's cause it's the only chinese in town.

The fried rice would not survive CHOPPED I thought it was a mistake since we showed up 10 mins. before closing. It was not tasty at all. It was dry, overcooked and just wrong!! The wonton soup was not very good either.

Went there and asked for chow mean and orange chicken and the white waitress looked at me like I was crazy. When I got my food to go it was some weird fried something that was over cooked that I had to dip in the sauce my self. Then for the "chow mien" they gave me some weird sprouts and a bag of hard chow mien noodles that u would normally put on Hawaiian hay stacks. It was disgusting and over priced. go the the Chinese food place near dominos called Ying Yang Oriental Kitchen for the best Chinese food in Rexburg. Even BYUI has better Chinese food than Fong's.

I'm not saying its the worst Chinese food I've ever had but it's pretty dang close! The mandarin chicken is a patty that is cut up into strips and covered in a bland sugary sauce. The lo mein is just plain bad.... Topped with some kind of spam or imitation ham.

Fong's is a Rexburg institution and it's always been a guilty pleasure. The No. 5 lunch special (Mandarin Chicken & Chow Mein-$5.95) may be the most ordered lunch in all of Rexburg. It's an inexpensive place to take your family for dinner and when you order takeout, you always get more than your moneys worth. Now, why is it a guilty pleasure? To put it bluntly, it's kind of like the girl you might date, but would never marry. I'm no food snob, but the food is an Americanized, fast food version of Chinese food. It's cooked in volume and many of the items are a bit over-cooked and taste alike. Plus, its menu is almost identical to several other family owned Chinese places in the Upper Valley (e.g., New Star, Mandarin, etc.). One other helpful hint: there are 2 Fong's in Rexburg--"Fong's" and the creatively named "New Fong's". They are virtually indistinguishable, but New Fong's is a little cleaner.

The worst Chinese food I have ever had. The waiters didn't even know what certain items were on the menu. It was an expensive mess.

I absolutely dislike this place with a passion! First of all the food takes way to long to come out of the kitchen. Second, the service is horrible! Why on earth would you only have one waitress, especially at lunch time and dinner. Although it makes me laugh to see an American waitress and not a Chinese waitress at a Chinese restaurant. Third, the food is just plain and boring.

Fong's has been here my whole life and I love eating there. The food is cheap and delicious and arrives quickly. The service is great. My favorites are the egg drop soup and the cashew nut chicken. It's a great family owned and run business.
(5)Tori T.
Wasn't very busy when my husband and I got there... We were a little sketched out. But our food came out pretty quickly and it was alright. Not the best Chinese we've ever had, but pretty good for Rexburg. We'll definitely keep going back.
(4)Chris S.
The food is decent. It's not up to the same quality as Mandarin, but it's got a great price, and the portions are large. The mandarin chicken is not breaded. I was disappointed. The Szechuan chicken and the sweet and sour chicken are pretty good. The pork fried rice is excellent. The egg drop soup had too much carrot. The restaurant always seems pretty empty but the staff are friendly.

I was so surprised when I saw that fongs only had 3 stars. My wife and I always call in a takeout order #3 combo to share ($9 for two). It has so much food that my wife and I can both stuff our faces and still have leftovers. It is really good, and somewhat more authentic then your run of the mill "panda express" Chinese. To the guy who complained about the sprouts chow mein, you have no taste. Go home and have some Kraft Mac n Cheese and quit your whining. This stuff is way better then some crappy noodles you can get other places. I highly recommend fongs on Main Street to everyone in Rexburg.

It was great, we did take out and for $35 we fed a family of four adults and had leftovers! Great Chinese/American! Would definately go back! Great value! They had wifi but I couldn't log on or get access for some reason!
(4)Thome W.
The food is great! The only thing is don't order online. The "order" gets faxed into them and they have a tendency to miss it. Also, and this is the most concerning thing, it prints out your whole credit card information on a piece of paper. I'm not sure if they dispose of that information properly. When I asked them about it she showed me another customers information like it was nothing. Other than that, it's a great place to eat

The General Tsao's chicken is better here than New Fongs but I fee like the sweet and sour sauce is better at New Fongs. The two are similar but both pretty equal.
